BEST ARIZONA GARAGE BANDS 19670 1970- VA- w 20 page booklet-Label:HDM RECORDS In addition to music that captures a moment in time, the release features a 20 page booklet filled with the story of each of the groups included here along with period photography, show flyers and more. The Arizona music scene during the sixties can easily be likened to its desert surroundings: The monotony of average and sometimes even good bands writing less than good and even average songs. Then one day you hear a band that knocks you out. Those are the kinds of bands that I had the opportunity to discover and produce that suddenly emerged out of garages and other little holes in walls ? wherever they could find a place to converge and create their music. I now have the honor and the privilege to present to you the bands that I think are Arizona's best garage bands from 1967 to 1970.' -- Hadley Murrell. "At an age when most of us were just listening to music, Hadley Murrell got involved. At 14 he started playing drums with The Carnations, and went on to work in radio, as well promoting shows and other live events. Much of what he made went towards studio time to produce the music heard in this collection. Often garage rock is under produced to its detriment. That's not the case here, Murrell recorded at Phoenix's Audio Records, other clients included Dwayne Eddy, Dyke & The Blazers and Waylon Jennings (among many others). And unlike many garage rock sides ? Hadley took his performers into the studio prepared and ready to lay down tracks as hot as the Arizona desert. In addition to music that captures a moment in time, the release features a 20 page booklet filled with the story of each of the groups included here along with period photography, show flyers and more." EDDY DETROIT- Shock-A-Lock-A-Lickum Ltd ed. ( STooges, Mc5 connection ) -Label:ASSOPHON (United States) Where to start with Eddy Detroit? Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, it was there, in 1966, that he was in attendance for the first Iguanas gigs (Iggy Stooge's first band). He joined the White Panther party in Detroit and was "there" for the pre-punk sounds of The Stooges and MC5 ("We all smoked dope on the state Capitol and got beat up by the cops"). In the early '70s he traveled to London, where he stalked Marc Bolan and tried to seduce Tony Visconti's then-girlfriend Mary Hopkin. It was with Ms. Hopkin, when he was dropping off a demo tape at the Apple store, that he witnessed the moment when Ringo found out that The Beatles had broken up! (We've got the pictures to prove it!) In the mid-'70s, Detroit settled in Hollywood and started The Terminal Wave Band (bongo/synth/punk) which was the soundtrack to the hippy/biker/S&M/satanic/polyamorous scene that Detroit ruled in dingy, underground LA -- that's when he wasn't trying to seduce Nico (The Velvet Underground) to become one of his muses and lovers ("True story bub"). When rents in LA got too much for an acid-fried biker/S&M/punk, Eddy moved to Phoenix, AZ, and was seminal in fostering one of the most interesting underground musical scenes of the early '80s. He was an unofficial member of the Sun City Girls, toured with the Meat Puppets and Mighty Sphincter, and was the pith-helmeted shaman-in-residence at his club The Grotto! This LP contains recordings made from 1979 to 2010. They run the gamut of Detroit's musical landscape, from the UK acid-folk of Tyrannosaurus Rex and The Incredible String Band through bongo-fueled satanic calypso to his new phase as a troubadour recounting tales of hobos, whores, and one-eyed jacks from the old west. Limited edition of 500 copies. LP $17 SKU:17204

ELECTRIC PRUNES - Stockholm 67 ( PSYCH!) 180 GRAM GATEFOLD OVERSTOCK SALE! Label:SUTRO In the winter of 1967, a psychedelic-garage-punk band from Woodland Hills, California arrived in Europe for what would be their first and last tour of the continent. On the strength of their hit single 'I Had Too Much to Dream Last Night,' the band was welcomed with open arms by European rock fans as well as British rock royalty -- they smoked out with Hendrix, partied with Brian Jones and Keith Moon, and hung out in the studio with the Beatles -- but were also subjected to harassment and ridicule over the fact that their homeland was at war in Vietnam. On the last stop of the tour someone pushed the record button and this artifact is the result. Stockholm '67 finds the Electric Prunes at the height of the powers. Over-amplified and fuzzed to the max, the 'Prunes here are explosive, noisy, and wild. This recording proves that the Electric Prunes deserve to be ranked alongside the very best bands of their era." 180 gram vinyl in a gatefold sleeve LP $14 SKU:14670

EXCITEMENTS- BREAKING THE RULE- (Spanish garage)Label:PENNIMAN After more than two years on the road and 200 sweat-soaked performances since the release of their second LP "Sometimes Too Much Is Not Enough", this third LP certifies that the big combo from Barcelona can do whatever they please: either caress you or kick you in the stomach-or both. The steamroller rhythm section is one powerful structure pounding under searing guitars, roaring horns and all reigned over by the voice of Koko that claws at their hypnotic gyrations with wild abandon. This new Excitements bag, as expected, is THE satisfier with high voltage rhythm and soul floorshakers and lease breakers-"Everything is Better Since You're Gone","Fire", "Hold On Together"-ripping spear-hurling R & B - "Chicken Picking" "I'd Rather Feel The Pain", "Did I Let You Down", heartbreaking ballads and mid-tempos - "Breaking The Rule", and "Take It Back" and and a pair of rhythmical postcards- a tribute to what once were the noisy streets of New Orleans ("Mojo Train") and restless nights in a Havana boarding house ("Four Loves"). FAMILY FODDER-Sunday Girls (LEGENDARY 1979 PSYCH Director's Cut)-Label:STAUBGOLD (GERMANY) LP version. The legendary first 12" EP by UK underground heroes Family Fodder, originally released in 1979, is now reissued for the first time. Sunday Girls (Director's Cut) is a lovingly assembled full-length album compilation featuring the complete Sunday Girls EP, the debut Family Fodder 7" Playing Golf (With My Flesh Crawling)/My Baby Takes Valium (1979), the Debbie Harrry/A 'Version' 7" from 1980, the 7" A-side "Warm" (1980), and two tracks from the rare Te Deum 12" (1979) by Alig Fodder's pre-Fodder project Frank Sumatra. Family Fodder was originally formed in 1979 by Alig Pearce, with a cast of thousands joining over the ensuing three decades. They emerged from the melting-pot of '70s/'80s London alongside This Heat, The Flying Lizards, The Pop Group, The Slits, and many others. The original formula consisted of psychedelic and new wave influences, incisive songwriting, improvisation, experimentation, and far-out dub mixing. They always managed to evade major exposure, but influenced generations of bands on five continents. Family Fodder was often more at home in the studio than on stage, but completed several European tours as well as cherished performances in their native London. The group released a series of compelling (now collectable) singles and albums between 1979 and 1983. Described as "entertaining idiosyncratic experimentalism with pop sensibilities," Family Fodder appear on the famous Nurse With Wound list, and were best known for indie-chart hits such as "Debbie Harry," "Playing Golf (With My Flesh Crawling)," and "Savoir Faire." More recently, Family Fodder songs have been covered by Zion Train and Unrest, and they've been hailed as "unsung heroes" in The Wire. LP $15 SKU:17106

FAT MATTRESS-ST (60 psych w Noel Redding)Label:RADIATION DELUXE SERIES (SPAIN) Formed by guitarist/vocalist Noel Redding while he was still playing bass in a little group called The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Fat Mattress released their debut in late 1969 on Polydor. Though Noel's more famous group was known for its hard edged psychedelic rock, Fat Mattress instead opted for the breezier side of things, with a distinct West Coast folk-rock bent. Drawing comparisons to Love, the Buffalo Springfield, and The Byrds, Fat Mattress is harmony-heavy and tuneful psychedelia. Though it was well received by critics at the time, sales were slow and Redding soon left the group. In the intervening years, though, Fat Mattress's fantastic debut has come to be known as a lost classic of psychedelic rock and this high-quality gatefold 180-gram LP reissue is a welcome relief from high-priced originals. Essential for fans of both Jimi Hendrix and psychedelic folk-rock. - Deluxe reissue of the 1969 debut by Fat Mattress, formed by guitarist/vocalist Noel Redding while he was still playing bass in a little group called The Jimi Hendrix Experience.- Drawing comparisons to Love, the Buffalo Springfield, and The Byrds, Fat Mattress is harmony-heavy and tuneful psychedelia with a distinct West Coast folk-rock bent, and their fantastic debut has come to be known as a lost classic of psychedelic rock.- High-quality 180-gram LP in gatefold sleeve. No need for gimmicks here, they just love to rock. They love it loud but they dont wanna be "LOUD" like most of the others out there. The combination of Gavin's undeniably distinguished raspy voice, backed by that foot-tapping juice-driving heart-soaring lead guitar with Who-ish rough punchiness creates a sound that is simple but surprising, intense but subtle and shining, shining bright.

FITZGERALD, PATRIK-Safety Pin Stuck in My Heart ( 70s punk rarity ) DOUBLE LP -Label:MUNSTER RECORDS (SPAIN) RSD Black Friday release. Patrik Fitzgerald was one of the oddities that punk rock threw up in 1977. A lone singer with an acoustic guitar, regaling punk audiences with lyrical songs and interspersing them with chats, stories and poems. Is this what people died in the Punk Wars for? The answer is an emphatic yes. There's no better example of the punk DIY attitude than the lone, slight figure of Patrik Fitzgerald making it happen and expressing himself on stage, singing songs of alienation, observation and imagined situations and often braving hostile receptions to communicate with an audience. While bands had the safety net of each other and the bombast of volume and wattage, he stood alone. Patrik had realism, pathos and incisive, sometimes uncomfortable, lyrics. Those early songs like "Safety Pin in My Heart" and "All Sewn Up" have amazingly stood the test of time and sound as relevant today as then. Patrik Fitzgerald was the "Punk Poet." He is the great forgotten songwriter from the Class of '77. Patrik Fitzgerald never became a household name or punk icon like Rotten, Strummer or Weller, but to his loyal followers he is just as important and as inspirational. Same goes for Mark Perry, Vic Godard and Robert Lloyd. Like them, he is one of punk's idiosyncratic, singular voices: artistically successful, but too uncompromising for mainstream and commercial rewards. Fitzgerald's sincere attitude and eccentric appearance -- commonly, a badge-cluttered blazer, red drainpipe trousers and sandals -- set him squarely apart from his new wave brethren. He was always called a poet rather than a singer, as it was all about the words. Words full of tragedy, comedy, cynicism, realism, bitterness, pathos and just occasionally, hope. Tagged the "new Dylan" in '77, he was maybe more the new Leonard Cohen with a touch of social realism, although Bowie was his hero. "The recordings remain true to me, even when I don't. This is what they are; the voice of a small, insecure, somewhat lost person, living in a small, insecure, somewhat lost country." LP $19 SKU:16363

PEBBLES. THE SERIES THAT INSPIRED THE ENTIRE GARAGE ROCK REVIVAL! In his review of the Pebbles series for Allmusic, Richie Unterberger comments: "Though 1972's Nuggets compilation reawakened listeners to the sounds of mid-'60s garage rock, it only focused on the tip of the iceberg. Behind those forgotten hits and semi-hits lurked hundreds, if not thousands, of regional hits and flops from the same era, most even rawer and cruder. . . . More than any other factor, these compilations [in the Pebbles series] were responsible for the resurgence of interest in garage rock, which remains high among collectors to this day."[

RADIO MOSCOW - Brain Cycles AUTOGRAPHED BY PARKER GRIGGS LAST COPIES ON PINK

-Label:ALIVE In an interview with The A.V. Club, frontman Griggs explained that "The first album [Radio Moscow] was written all-instrumental, and the singing was just sort of [an afterthought] ... This album was written more with the vocals in mind." On the subject of self-producing the album, Griggs noted that "I wanted to use the tape again and try to get an old-school sound ... [and] this time around I just tried to give it my all and be more comfortable with that. The frontman also noted that "We recorded this [album] at Sound Farm in Jamaica, [Iowa] instead of Ohio this time. We put a lot more time into it and really focused on the mix to give it a kind of classic psychedelic feel. It's still real bluesy but we tried to make it more psychedelic than the last one. ELDER-REFLECTIONS OF A FLOATING WORLD(2LP)-Label:ARMAGEDDON This album by the mighty Elder offers six monumental songs, huge in sound, each of them their own cosmic expedition. What begins as driving mid-tempo rock, chock full of heavy guitar riffs, repeatedly erupts into melodic tangents and clever variations. Guest musicians Michael Samos and Mike Risberg added guitars, pedal steel and keyboards to the trio's sound, making it more voluminous than ever. The influences found here range from '70s prog dinosaurs such as Yes, King Crimson or Pink Floyd, to the band's kindred spirits in the European psychedelic and space rock scenes. LP $42 SKU:18735

JERUSALEM PURPLE VINYL (1972) Insert with history of the group, lyrics and photos (HEAVY ROCKLabel:LION “Sledgehammer-heavy masterpiece of underground British rock!” —Classic Rock Magazine“Big fat chords, wailing guitar, punch-drunk bass and straight-ahead solid drums all strutting in your face like some massive guy you just don't want to f**k with.” —Head Heritage"I made the record because they are bloody good and it seems a shame for their sound not to be recorded... right now there's a rawness and excitement..." Ian Gillan, in Disc & Music Echo, January 29th, 1972Heavy UK hard rock album from 1972, produced by Deep Purple's legendary frontman, Ian Gillan, originally released on the Decca/Deram label. It was Gillan who said of them: “Not many bands really excite me. But this one’s so raw and completely unpretentious. They make the biggest, bloodiest noise you can imagine, tempered with moments of extreme emotion.” And, of course, he’s right—the music is a menacing combination of over-the-top vocals and screaming lead guitars that could easily pass for something from the early British heavy metal scene—or something from the emotional hard core scene of the mid-1990's ('Primitive Man'). A favorite among vinyl collectors, the album is presented here in its ultimate glory, with all tracks direct from the original master tapes, housed in a high quality old-style gatefold cover; insert has liner notes written by bassist Paul Dean + rare photos. Stickered to indicate that this is the purple vinyl edition. Rough, raw, and doomy! LP $22 SKU:16109
