CIRCUS (NL) -Medusa (unreleased 1968 single w orig artwork) SALE-Label:PSEUDONYM BW MOTHER MOTHA'S GREAT SUNDANCE. From the ashes of Q65 rose Circus, featuring guitarist Frank Nuyens and drummer Jay Baar. This is their unreleased 1968 single that sees the daylight for the first time, including the original artwork. Circus had everything to become the first Dutch super band, along the lines of a.o. Cream and Blind Faith. In January 1968 guitarist and composer Frank Nuyens and drummer/lyricist Jay Baar rose from the ashes of Q65. Mark Klein (James Mean) joined as keyboardist, Frank Verhoef became the bassist/singer. With them, Nuyens and Baar made the first recordings. Later they went into the studio with producer Hans van Hemert, for the complex basis of Mother Motha's Sundance, ment as B-side for the single 'Medusa'. Eventually their recording career never went beyond a test pressing of the single Medusa/Mother Motha's Sundance, as found in the archives of Hitweek. The single was shelved, but a sleeve for the original 45 was apparently printed and recently found in archive. 45 RPM $10 SKU:15567

In 1966, label boss Bob Shad had issued several unsuccessful singles by Bay Area groups, and by collecting them together on LP he unwittingly created one of the more satisfying surveys of the scene at the time. The groups included on "A Pot Of Flowers" were the Wildflower, pioneering folk-rockers who were an early fixture at the Fillmore and Avalon; San Jose's popular garage band the Otherside; legendary East Bay punks the Harbinger Complex; and, from southern California, the idiosyncratic Euphoria, whose off-beat take on psychedelia has given the group a cult reputation. Doubling the album's original tracklist, Big Beat adds a swathe of rare material, including folk-rock and proto-psych sides by associated West Coast acts such as the New Dawn, Word, Ariel and Unusuals, and several stellar unissued garage rockers from the Ban and Montells. LEOPOLD, PERRY-Christian Lucifer (70s hippie psych) -Label:PSI (PSYCHEDELIC SOUNDS INTERNATIONAL) (GERMANY) Reissue of Perry Leopold's second album and magnum opus, Christian Lucifer, created between 1971 and 1973 following his 1970 acid folk debut, Experiment In Metaphysics his enchanting album is some kind of mystery and miracle -- a mystery because its master tapes, except for some mixdown copies, were erased for reuse soon after the recordings had been finished, because the studio went bankrupt and the material was sold. Perry Leopold was an ambitious musician from the Philadelphia area who played in rock bands in the '60s and released his solo debut, the acid folk masterpiece Experiment In Metaphysics (GUESS 096LP), in 1970. From 1971 to 1973 Perry worked on his magnum opus, Christian Lucifer, an even more sophisticated and melodic album than his debut, still drenched colors that humans should not see and executed with a sense of progressiveness that was mainly associated with the European rock scene of the time. Perry Leopold created the album almost entirely alone, with melodies of an unearthly, mythical beauty that he connected with cantilevered instrumental passages of acoustic guitars, cellos, bells, strings, flutes, and a few analog keyboards and organs layered upon each other in harmonic structures of utter complexity. The whole piece of sound art, despite the overall accessible approach, bears a deeply spiritual atmosphere and sets your soul in a quiet and peaceful mood. Highly recommended for fans of progressive and symphonic folk and singer-songwriter artists of the ancient days like The Incredible String Band, Dulcimer, and Nick Drake, but also of later psychedelic folksters like In Gowan Ring or Birch Book. LIBERTY BELL - Thoughts and Visions 67-69 ( Texas garage psych ) -Label:BREAKAWAY Corpus Christie, Texas 1967 - the town is a hotbed for young music groups. One of the local bands to cause attention is called The Zulus. The group plays local gigs, enjoys a certain popularity and a record deal is overdue. Carl Becker, co-owner of J-Beck Records, who had already managed the Zakary Thaks, offers the band a contract for his newly established Cee-Bee Label. On Beckers suggestion the band changes their name to LIBERTY BELL and in 1967 their debut 45 'The Nazz Are Blue' b/w 'Big Boss Men' gets released. The name Liberty Bell is indissoluble wedded with other self penned devasting garage recordings such as 'That's How It Will Be', 'For What You Lack' or the unreleased 'I Can See'. In 1968 lead singer Ronnie Tanner leaves the band and gets replaced by former Zakary Thaks lead singer Chris Gerniottis. The change in line-up and the arising spirit of time gives a more psychedelic edge to the band's sound and leads to another load of classic Gerniottis written scorching fuzz recordings such as 'Reality Is The Only Answer', 'Recognition' or 'Look For Tomorrow'. LITTLE FREE ROCK- Nirvanating Nervesounds w insert and liners(classic 60s heavy PSYCH rock) - Label:SOMMOR Psychedelic hard-rock featuring the explosive fuzz-wah guitar of Peter Illingworth. Little Free Rock were an underground British power-trio which evolved from heavy-mod-psych band Purple Haze. In 1969, the band released their only album for the Transatlantic label. “Nirvanating Nervesounds” collects previously unreleased sessions for an aborted Little Free Rock second album from 1971, produced by Robert Stigwood, plus tracks from their early incarnation as Purple Haze, taken from an ultra-rare demo acetate from 1969. The ’71 tracks were recorded when the band had just incorporated an African percussionist to their line-up, “Lord” Eric Carboo; also, ex-Killing Floor bass player John Taylor had replaced original member Frank Newbold. This new line-up shines on tracks like the terrific psych-funk sounding “Money On Your Mind”, full of drum breaks and frenzied wah-wah guitar. The 1969 recordings are taken from the only known copy of a demo acetate recorded in 1969, when the band had just changed their name from Purple Haze to Little Free Rock. Featuring some songs which were later re-recorded and included on the Little Free Rock Transatlantic album but appearing here in a superior, raw-sounding form. For many people, the recordings included here are the best thing Little Free Rock ever did and show how their first album should’ve really sounded. Most of these tracks were previously released on CD under the “Time is of no consequence” name but they appear here in a newly remastered, superior sounding form, most noticeable on the acetate tracks (no surface noise here this time!). MACARTHUR - ST (1979 U.S basement private pressing)Label:OUT SIDER U.S basement psych-prog monster released in 1979 as an ultra-rare private pressing of 200 copies. MacArthur were formed when a young guitar player and songwriter named Ben MacArthur met a 17-yeard old prodigy musician called Bill Heffelfinger in Saginaw, Michigan, in 1978. Bill was not only a gifted guitar player but also a genius arranger and keyboard wizard. When Ben showed him some of the stuff he had written, Bill took the songs and transformed them into classic pieces of music. They soon recruited Jeff Bauer on bass and Scott Stockford on drums. The chemistry of MacArthur was born. The first MacArthur album, known in collector’s circles as “The Black Forest” due to the vinyl bootleg of the same title released in the 80s, was recorded in 1979 using a four-track machine. Produced by Bill Heffelfinger, “MacArthur” is a progressive / psychedelic concept album highlighted by devastating, ripping fuzz guitar solos and Mini-Moog / synths attacks. Due to the lack of funds, the album was originally issued by the band in a primitive hand-made sleeve with just a sticker on front and a paper sheet with the credits glued on back. For this, the first ever legit reissue, we’ve done a printed sleeve with embossed letters on front, as the band originally intended. Note: CD comes in standard jewelcase without embossed cover. First ever legit vinyl reissue with original artwork.
