BOLD CHICKEN - ST (70s Midwest bad glam-punkhand numbered rarity) Label:LYSERGIC SOUND (USA) For the first time anywhere on vinyl, Lysergic Sounds Distributors proudly presents Bold Chicken. Formed in 1970 in Akron, Ohio by future Rubber City Rebels leader, Buzz Clic, the band began gigging around north east Ohio sneaking their own crude original tunes in amongst the usual top 40 fodder, which must have truly bummed out the rust belt bar denizens swaying and singing along to 'Smoke on the Water!' Bold Chicken went into the studios in 1972 and recorded an ultra-crude demo of four depraved songs which deal exclusively with the seedier side of fornication, including a misunderstood homosexual in 'A Fellows Lament,' the teenage sexual frustration of not sealing the deal in 'Gears and Tears,' an amorous ode to a lady of the night in 'Streekwalkin' Queen,' and ending the set up with a song about contracting VD (natch!) titled 'Oh Doctor Please.' The tunes have a sound that Todd Killings of Victim of Time described as 'a top-notch find in the vastly unpopular world of Midwest bad glam-punk in a pre-Ramones America. Not as art-bent as Debris' and not as straightjacket-worthy as the nearby Electric Eels, this is more a quality studio recording of a "far-out" drunken quaalude party... It can definitely stand on it's own with anyone else hitting their stride in '72, as it's heavy, but not metal, crazed, but not psychedelic, punk but not prog, and even dumber than the Stooges.' This is a limited fully licensed hand numbered edition of 350 directly mastered from the original tapes." "Holy fuck, man; that Bold Chicken done went and psyched out my mama! This is such a bluesy ride, it throws me for a loop. Then those nasty choruses kick in and singer Buzz Clic (ooh!) puts forth those massive whoops, hollers, and rants and I totally get why this session, recorded in Ohio in 1972-73, needed to see the light of day again. The production is bound to be a bone of contention for treble-obsessed psych folk, and that’s exactly the reason I dig its guttural hound’s tooth growl." —Tiny Mix Tapes 45 RPM $10 SKU:19131

EVERYWHERE INTERFERENCES - VA ( earliest and rarest '60s US garage psych compilations )-Label:FEED THE MIND Everywhere Interferences is the 1983 follow-up to Everywhere Chainsaw Sound and is rumored to have originated in France. Originally issued as a limited numbered edition of 190 copies, it is one of the earliest and rarest '60s US garage psych compilations produced at the dawn of the compilation LP explosion. This reissue features improved artwork along with the correct running order as well as additional liner notes and photos, filling an important gap in garage psych comp collections across the planet. "In a field full of weeds the earliest garage psych/punk compilations still possess a charm that endears them to collectors. Back in the early 1980s a number of now extremely rare compilations were briefly available via mail order. They almost immediately disappeared onto the shelves of a small but hardcore group of US '60s rock fans. Everywhere Interferences was the second volume of an extremely limited pair of compilations (the first being Everywhere Chainsaw Sound). Both originated in France and were produced microscopic numbered editions of only 100 or so copies. Housed in a plain white card sleeve with primitive artwork these compilations, to this day, remain almost unknown to the majority of '60s US garage psych collectors. Inspired by Elektra's Nuggets LP, 'grey area' compilations such as Pebbles, Boulders, and Acid Dreams (PAPR 1007LP/2094CD/2096CD/2097CD) created a demand for underground compilations that grew into the US garage rock reissue market that has since produced many thousands of records. An unceasing demand for music from probably the most exciting period of rock and roll has turned into a minor industry. Thankfully Everywhere Interferences is once again available with improved sleeve notes and sound. You may have some of these recordings on other compilations but somehow the mystery excitement and sense of discovery that fuelled the first era of the garage rock revival is captured on these iconic records" --Richard Allen, writes for Shindig!, founder of The Freak Emporium in 1991 (now under new management). Includes tracks by Clefs of Lavender Hill, White Lightning, Pied Pipers, The Baskerville Hounds, The Todds, Moonrakers, The Satisfactions, The Cavemen, and The Nomads. COMP CD $15 SKU:17113

Originally issued by Capitol Records in July 1966 and subtitled a documentary report on the current psychedelic drug controversy!, this notorious album offers both a background report into the new phenomenon of lysergic acid diethylamide and a recording of an actual trip. Fuelling anti-psychedelic prejudice beneath a veneer of objectivity, it stands as an important early artifact in the history of the psychedelic movement, and features contributions from Timothy Leary, Allan Ginsberg, Aldous Huxley's widow Laura, early acid rockers Fire and Ice, Ltd., and Neal Cassady and a pre-Grateful Dead group called the Warlocks. MR. ALBERT SHOW - Strange Story DBL LP 180 gram -Label:PSEUDONYM The Eindhoven-based Mr. Albert Show may be considered one of the ultimate Dutch jam bands of the late sixties, combining elements from rhythm & blues, rock, soul and psychedelia. The five-piece, led by saxophone player Bertus Borgers (later a member of highly rated bands s.a. Sweet d'Buster, Golden Earring, Groove Express) was truly a sensation for anyone who witnessed one of their gigs in the period 1969-1973. The band recorded two albums, both of which now fetch high prices amongst international record collectors. This double-LP, pressed on 180-gram audiophile vinyl, features excellent sounding highlights (remastered from the original tapes!) from their farewell live-show, that took place in their hometown in 1973. Includes are renditions of band classics s.a. 'Electronic Baby' and 'Let It All Hang Out', as well as cover versions of 'Can't Find My Way Home' (Steve Winwood), the classic Beatles-song 'Things We Said Today' and the Stones-original 'Jumpin Jack Flash'. This release is presented in a great, heavy gatefold sleeve with artwork by well known cartoonist Joost Swarte, and including rare photos and liner notes by Wouter Bessels. LP $29 SKU:15970

NERVEBREAKERS - Hijack the Radio 180 gram (70s Label:RAVE UP An anthology of mid to late 70s studio recordings, some of which ended up on the Nervebreakers' late-70's 7" vinyl releases on Wild Child Records, some on the 1979 Texas punk LP compilation Are We Too Late For The Trend? (ESR Records), some on a volume of Italian label Rave Up Records series of American Lost Punk Rock Nuggets, and others that have up-to-now never been publicly released. LP $14 SKU:10760

NERVEBREAKERS - We Want Everything 180 gram (Texas 70s punk ) -Label:GET HIP Hailing from Dallas, the Nervebreakers first got together in 1973, but didn’t take off until the mid-’70s punk movement started to affect most larger urban areas of the US. Nervebreakers quickly rose to the top of the pack in Dallas releasing three singles which are now hard to find. This album was recorded in 1980 and was to have been their debut LP. The reissue on Get Hip has been remastered and is finally out on vinyl again on 180-gram wax! LP $14 SKU:11535

NEW RIDERS OF THE PURPLE SAGE- The Adventures of Panama Red STONER ROCK)-Label:REAL GONE MUSIC If there was ever any doubt that the New Riders of the Purple Sage were the ultimate hippie country rock band -- and having had Jerry Garcia, Phil Lesh and Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead as early members meant that there wasn't much -- The Adventures of Panama Red put them to rest. This 1973 album's loosely connected tall tales of drug culture, complete with the album's underground comic book graphics, ensured that this gatefold record was a long-time dorm room favorite for separating out those stems and seeds. But Panama Red (their only gold record) had a lot more going for it than just countercultural kicks -- the band, by now consisting of John Dawson, David Nelson, Dave Torbert, pedal steel ace Buddy Cage and Jefferson Airplane drummer Spencer Dryden -- was much tighter than any outfit this stoned had a right to be, and with songwriting contributions from Peter Rowan (the hit 'Panama Red' and 'Lonesome L.A. Cowboy') and Robert Hunter ('Kick in the Head') as well as from the band's own fine tunesmiths in Dawson and Torbert, the songs were of a uniformly high quality. Production by multi-instrumentalist Norbert Putnam, charts by the Memphis Horns and vocal contributions by Buffy Sainte-Marie and Donna Godchaux helped enshrine this record as one of the finest country-rock outings of the '70s. Now, Real Gone Music is reissuing this classic album for the first time on vinyl, remastered by Vic Anesini at Battery Studios in NYC and lacquer cut by Kevin Gray, with a limited edition pressing of 1000 in -- what else? -- purple vinyl, with the original gatefold album and inner sleeve graphics (with lyrics) intact. Time to add to your stash of essential '70s vinyl!" LP $24 SKU:16793

NIGHTSTICK-BLOTTER - COLOR VINYL(HEAVY STONER PSYCH 1995) Label:ARMAGEDDON A Heavy psychedelic bummer rock masterpiece from 1995. Six loud and pummelling transmissions from the streets of Weymouth directly to your skull. A sonic boot to the head. SIEGE drummer Robert Williams powers this sonic trip through some extremely heavy territory. Pink Floyd meets Flipper under a collapsing bridge, Lydia Lunch meets the Brainbombs and they take acid together, Black Sabbath meets Funkadelic while Kilslug throws empty beer bottles at them both. We file this in the "fucked up music" category alongside Flipper, Brainbombs, Kilslug, Drunks With Guns. If SIEGE's Grim Reaper was ever to be completely extended to band status, this is it. You will either be on board for this trip, or you will not be. We are definitely on the boat. LP $14 SKU:18668

NITE JEWEL- It Goes Through Your Head LTD ED ( 80s pop R&B STYLE)Label:MEXICAN SUMMER 2011 repress. "The music of Ramona Gonzalez (you know her better as Nite Jewel) brings to mind the days of Teen Steam--a restless, infectious R&B beat, a voice you can sing along to, a positive outlook that sympathizes with your troubles and helps you to dance them away. With a melody like the one found on It Goes Through Your Head, you're going to find that it'll stay there as well, bridging a pop sensibility beginning with Cyndi Lauper, continuing on through '80s pop R&B like Expose and The Jets, and ending with Ms. Gonzalez's winning charm and tremendous voice. Remixes by DaM-Funk and the Samps on the flip side reinforce the inherent danceability in these exclusive tunes. Play this record, then get out, get organized and do something awesome today!" OLD BLOOD -ST(RED/BLACK)California-based doom-psych-Label:DHU Limited to 100 copies on RED/BLACK SPLATTER VINYL. Old Blood is a Southern California-based doom-psych quintet. The primal punch and serpentine swirl of the band's guitar-bass-organ-drum attack mesh beautifully with the commanding clean vocals of vocalist Feathers, whose jazz- and blues-influenced stylings soar above the crunch. And this is all before you attend their theatrical live show that includes smoke machines, psychedelic projections and a pair of corpse-painted dancers (The Rigormortettes) who perform ribbon and hula-hoop routines before ritually "killing" Feathers at the end of it. BLUE ASH - ABRACADABRA -70s POWER POP-Label:YOU ARE THE COSMOS BW (HAVE YOU SEEN HER?) / HIPPY HIPPY SHAKE`` In 1972, Blue Ash signed a production deal with Peppermint Records of Youngstown, Ohio. This was the classic Blue Ash line-up of Frank Secich, Jim Kendzor, Bill “Cupid” Bartolin, and David Evans. We made our first demos in June of 1972, which included “Abracadabra (Have You Seen Her?),” and Peppermint sent them out to all the major labels, resulting in Mercury signing us in late 1972. Our deal with Peppermint gave us two free days of recording every month for five years. So every month we would lay down demos of our new songs for copyright purposes, demo references, and to hear what they sounded like on tape. Over the five year period of 1972-76, we had recorded some 219 songs in various degrees of quality. Some were “live” in the studio and others multi-tracked. 45 RPM $8 SKU:18174

NERVES - One Way Ticket - LTD ED of GRAY AND BLACK HAND MIXED STARBURST VINYL - Label:ALIVE Formed in 1975 by guitarist JACK LEE, bassist PETER CASE, and drummer PAUL COLLINS, the Nerves are one of the most influential garage/punk pop outfits to come out of the mid-70's LA scene, and certainly one of the least documented... until now. Mostly remembered for their classic "Hanging On The Telephone," a Jack Lee composition which has been covered over the years by a myriad of artists from BLONDIE to L7 to CAT POWER, the Nerves were above all a high energy rock'n'roll band with all three members composing and singing. Playing fast, ear-catching garage pop songs, sometimes wearing matching suits, the trio had more than a bit of the stripped down street energy of the Los Angeles's early punk movement. They shared the stage with the Ramones and Mink Deville during their infamous US "Magical Blistering Tour," played the Punk Palace and the legendary Masque in Hollywood, and headlined shows with the Avengers, the Zeros, The Dils, The Screamers and Shock, to name just a few. After the band's break-up in 1978, Peter Case and Paul Collins formed The BREAKAWAYS, and later went on to front the legendary PLIMSOULS and The BEAT, respectively. Following the success of "Hanging On the Telephone," JACK LEE has mostly focused on his songwriting career, releasing an album in 1981. Both Peter and Paul are still recording and touring. PETER CASE's latest album "Let Us Now Praise Sleepy John" (Yeproc 2007) was nominated for a Grammy. This collection, authorized for the first time ever by the three band members, features their 1976 EP (now regarded as a power pop classic), as well as demos and previously unreleased live recordings, REMASTERED and complete with notes and photos. LP $20 SKU:17632

NEW RIDERS OF THE PURPLE SAGE-Powerglide (country psych)-Label:LION In the days before genre obsession, a rock and roll fervour drew on a rediscovery of blue grass, folk, blues and ‘country music’. Add to the mix consciousness-expansion afforded by the proliferation of psychedelic drugs, and the music scene of the West Coast of America percolated, powered by this heady brew. At the heart of this experiment in new music and consciousness the New Riders of The Purple Sage were born. The history of the New Riders will forever be intertwined with that of their fellow travelers the Grateful Dead. Both bands shared a down-home vibe, and shared members for recording dates. Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead co-founded the New Riders with John Dawson and David Nelson as an opportunity to play pedal steel guitar—although he plays banjo and dobro on Powerglide, first released in 1972. Dawson and Nelson returned the favor, playing on Dead masterpieces "American Beauty" and "Workingman’s Dead". Phil Lesh and Mickey Hart of the Dead rounded out the New Riders rhythm section until David Torbert took over on bass and Spencer Dryden of Jefferson Airplane fame took over on drums. Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzman plays percussion on this album. To add to all that star power, noted British pianist Nicky Hopkins (Beatles, Kinks, Stones) played keyboards on Powerglide. Dave Torbert's ‘California Day’ is a gem, a hymn to the West Coast with some beautiful slide and fuzz guitar work; ‘Contract,’ is an equally impressive blend of country rock and old west imagery. NRPS's cover of 'Willie and the Hand Jive' has a distinctly Grateful Dead jam vibe to it. This wasn’t music desperate for chart success, it was a soundtrack to an outlaw, countercultural lifestyle that aimed to escape the city and get away to the mountains. So, saddle up! OLIVE, BRIAN - Two Of Everything (Prod by Dan of the Black Keys) BUBBLEGUM PINK MARBLE VINYL LTD ed of 50!~ Label:ALIVE Ex-Greenhornes guitarist & Soledad Brothers) Following his 2009 self-titled debut , which was praised for skillfully blending soulful R&B with raunchy garage and psychedelia, Brian Olive takes us further on his latest full length “Two Of Everything”.
