It’s a glorious ride through a more innocent, and exhilarating, time when the music really mattered. In addition to vintage clips of, and current interviews with, the bands showcased, “Teen A Go Go” gives such well-known names as Bobbie Wygant, Ron Chapman, Bruce Channel, Lenny Kaye, Bugs Henderson, Johnny Reno and Ira Robbins a chance to chime in their thoughts of the period. Chapman — who hosted “Sump’n Else”, a local ’60s TV show, similar to Dick Clark’s American Bandstand — featured numerous local and national bands. DVD $15 SKU:12757

GREEN PAJAMAS-TO The End of the Sea ECO WALLET (60s pop infl.) Label:GREEN MONKEY To The End Of The Sea is The Green Pajamas first new studio album since 2012’s Death By Misadventure. For this album, Jeff Kelly went to his roots, re-embracing his love of 1960’s pop. It takes much more of an organic approach to the recording process than his work of recent years. Jeff wanted to reach back to Pajamas albums like Strung Behind The Sun and All Clues Lead To Meagan’s Bed and go with that sort of aesthetic again: sound effects, backwards guitars, lots of vocal harmonies, violin and cello. CD $10 SKU:18893

BOYSKOUT - School of Etiquette ( S.F. girl pop/punk SIOUXSIE & the BANSHEES style LAST COPIES -Label:ALIVE This San Francisco all-girl band manufactures a seductive blend of pop/new-wave ala early CURE, SLEATER KINNEY, SIOUXSIE & the BANSHEES and JOY DIVISION, while remaining true to its punk-rock roots. "If some CBGB's Frankenstein had managed, circa 1977, to transplant Patti Smith's sensibility into Blondie's garage-band pop, the result would have sounded something like BoySkout's "School of Etiquette." Outfitted in such New Wavey accessories as sneakers and skinny ties, this lesbian-rock quartet revives such Smithian motifs as drowning and the erotic appeal of outlaws, but with girl-group bounce. School of Etiquette may not be genteel, but it is impeccably arranged." - Mark Jenkins / Washington Post CD $3 SKU:2208

LAST COPIES- Label:DISASTER Records With a sound rooted in the OC tradition, DISCONTENT has developed its own and unique brand of sonic rock'n'roll. They have been described as a mean combination of "street punk and smash rock... think SHAM 69 and AC/DC meet MOTORHEAD and The HELLACOPTERS in the 21st century." This self-titled debut full length takes no prisoners : it is a gritty mixture of '70s-style rock'n'roll and contemporary skate punk. CD $3 SKU:2281

INSAINTS - Sins Of Saints- LAST COPIESLabel:DISASTER Records There was a time when punk was dangerous, and this album is a reminder of this lost era. This is a 20 track anthology of hardcore/street-punk rock from the late '80s, early 90's, by this legendary San Francisco band. Led by now-deceased fetish model/dominatrix MARIAN ANDERSON on vocals, and with DANIEL DELEON (CALAVERA, the DEEP EYNDE) on guitar, the INSAINTS pushed the punk rock envelope further than any other artist before or since. MARIAN sexual stage antics has become the stuff of legends, but the INSAINTS were also a great band, and this album proves it. “This twenty track anthology, varying between hardcore and pop punk, consists of the band's '93 studio sessions, their double seven inch split with the Diesel Queens, demos and some live material from '90 and '92. The Insaints were one of the Bay Area's most infamous punk bands of the last ten to fifteen years and offered a raw soundtrack to the sad, desperate, and often violent realities of inner-city life and childhood abuse, which became codified as redemption when "play acted" onstage by lead singer Marian Anderson during their live shows. Not for the easily offended. You've been warned. Rest in peace, sweetheart. - Dave Negative / Amoeba review CD $5 SKU:4467

INVISIBLE EYES - Laugh In The Dark (primordial fuzz)LAST COPIES Label:BOMP Records Take heed! Here be music for troglodytes and spacemen; monks, drunkards and sophisticated hip shakers alike. TYLL- Sexphonie(75 acid stoner psych)Label:MENTAL EXPERIENCE Highly inventive kraut / psych album (heavy on the “psych”) related to Eulenspygel.Originally released in 1975, “Sexphonie” offers a mix of acid-rock, hard-psych, polit-rock and progressive / folky sounds with some eastern influences. Great studio production and outstanding guitar playing courtesy of Teflon Fonfara (who once blew up Camel’s PA system with his tape and delay guitar effects!). Tyll was formed when Teflon was approached by Kerston Records with the intention of releasing a krautrock album. Teflon’s previous group, Tyll Eulenspygel, was not active at that moment, so he assembled a new studio band featuring members and friends of Tyll Eulenspygel. Shrouded in mystery until now, Tyll's "Sexphonie" is a Krautrock curiosity that almost never happened, and it was all created within a matter of weeks from inception of the band through to finished LP. The story is similar to that of the legendary Mammut, with an ad hoc band brought together and given total freedom to do whatever they wanted. Tyll can be seen as the illegitimate step-sister to Eulenspygel, and there was much controversy and even legal action involved and some rivalry between the two bands, especially as Tyll had poached Eulenspygel drummer Günter Klinger. Yet, whereas Eulenspygel had pretty much now lost the plot by 1973, Tyll's sole LP was one of those surprisingly creative gems of the mid 1970s that, to the few that knew it, was a welcome breath of fresh air. *First ever reissue *Insert with liner notes by Alan Freeman (The Crack In The Cosmic Egg) plus reproduction of the rare original booklet /comic LP $25 SKU:17715

UTHER PENDRAGON-San Francisco Earthquake 3LP -previously unreleased West Coast guitar psychedelia, 1966-1975. BOX SET -Label:GUERSSEN RECORDS (Spain) Three-LP box version in purple-and-gold hot-foil-stamped box with eight-page insert and poster. A treasure trove of previously unreleased West Coast guitar psychedelia, 1966-1975. "Uther Pendragon was more than just a band, it was a family. Closer than brothers, they lived together, made music together, worked, played, laughed, cried and dreamed together." --Mike Stax (Ugly Things)

This is the incredible story of Uther Pendragon, a lost psychedelic band from San Francisco whose music has remained buried until now. Formed in the Bay Area in 1966 as a teen garage group called Blue Fever, Uther Pendragon lasted from 1966 until 1978. During that time, the band went through different names and phases, as their music evolved from garage to psychedelia to hard rock, but the core of the band always remained the same: Mark Lightcap (rhythm guitar, vocals), Bruce Marelich(lead guitar, vocals), and Martin Espinosa (bass, vocals). After finding their ultimate drummer in Mike Beers, the group finally settled on the Uther Pendragon name in the early '70s. But despite being active for all that time and recording at numerous studios (including their own in Palo Alto), Uther Pendragon never released any recordings. Their complex and fascinating story, which involves winning a Bay Area Battle of the Bands and playing with Country Joe & The Fish, recording a killer garage-psych 7" acetate in 1967, going to the legendary Pacific Recording Studios in 1969 to record a demo, living as a family in the same house for many years and rehearsing seven days a week, building their own recording studio and music corporation, being managed by Craig Pedersen (Something Wild, Tripsichord Music Box), being involved in an occult-themed rock opera called Sabbat, and much more, is told with all the details by Mike Stax from Ugly Things in this set's extensive liner notes, with rare photos. Produced from the band's vast archive of original master tapes, San Francisco Earthquake includes their unknown-until-now 7" acetate from 1967 (fab garage-psych in the vein of The Human Expression or The Music Machine); tracks from 1966-'69 including a groundbreaking, moody psycher from 1966; a demo tape from 1969 recorded at Pacific Recording -- an incredible document for any lover of early SF garage-psych (think Oxford Circle, The Savage Resurrection, Moby Grape . . .) -- and many tracks recorded at their home studio in Palo Alto. 100% unadulterated West Coast guitar psych and hard rock that recalls QMS and even Kurihara-era White Heaven. LP $55 SKU:17267

VAUGN, BEN -Texas Road Trip-Label:MAPLEWOOD Ben Vaughn has had the type of rock n roll career that hasn’t just been successful, but fascinating as well. He has always done things his own way carving a niche and career that is unlike any other. Growing up in Collingswood, New Jersey, out of high school, Ben worked in a knitting mill, as a delivery-truck driver and even a landscaper before he decided that life wasn’t going to be suitable for him. From there, he has gone on to record numerous acclaimed records both with The Ben Vaughn Combo, his band, and as a solo artist as well.Presented now as a Maplewood Records reissue is Ben Vaughn’s excellent 2014 release Texas Road Trip. It is both a tribute to Texas rock n roller legend Doug Sahm of Sir Douglas Quintet fame, (Bob Dylan is a big fan) while also being completely original material written by Ben. Think of it as if Ben Vaughn wrote a bunch of numbers and got some of Sahm’s former band members to record them with him making it sound like it could be a Doug Sahm record. This is exactly what happened when Ben traveled to Austin, Texas to record the tracks with Augie Meyers (Keys, Squeezebox), Alvin Crow (Fiddler, Strings), Speedy Sparks (Bass), John X. Reed (Guitar), and Mike Buck (Drums), respectively.Tracks like Heavy Machinery, Sleepless Nights, and Seven Days Without Love are signature Ben Vaughn numbers but done with a Texas rock n roll ambience. With Ben Vaughn, you can count on having a tight record with tracks that will make you move your feet and lyrics that will make you think.
Maplewood Records is proud to release this instant classic in United States and around the world. Texas Road Trip is a must have for any Ben Vaughn fan and a welcome to any music lovers collection. Enjoy! LP $14 SKU:17628

WHITE LIGHT - Parable (scarce high-powered bluesy garage/psych ‘74)-Label:SOMMER Super scarce high-powered bluesy garage/psych hard-rock beast, packed to the gills with cheesy organ, jubilant fuzz guitar, and frenzied drumming”. – Ken Scott (The Archivist First ever reissue of this ultra-obscure private pressing (as featured in the last Hans Pokora’s “7001 Record Collector Dreams” book with the maximum scale rarity). Done under license from the band members. Insert with liner notes and photos.Formed in Glasgow in the early 70s, White Light were not an ordinary Xian rock band: influenced by the explosive sound of The Who, the hard blues of John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers and even Black Sabbath, their live performances across the country featured heavy rock sounds, feedback howling round, phased lighting effects and commitment to the real enjoyment of Rock Music. They weren’t formed to play in churches – but to take The Message to the rock generation in loud clubs, halls and big rock venues. In 1972, they were finalists in a national rock competition organized by Melody Maker magazine. This event encouraged the band to enter the studio for the recording of their first album. “Parable” was released as a private pressing in 1974. Housed in a mysterious looking cover, the music is Xian hard psych straight from the garage with lot of raw fuzz guitar and Vox Continental organ.Combining hard-rock with heavy blues and dreamy moments, it features the monster sidelong track “Prodigal”, which has to be heard to be believed. LP $24 SKU:17291

WHITE NOISE SOUND- St- w Pete Kember of Spacemen 3 Ltd ed. of 200 on RED VINYL LAST COPIES Label:ALIVE WHITE NOISE SOUND is the eponymous debut from the Swansea/Cardiff, Wales-based sextet. Completed with the help of Pete Kember (Spacemen 3, Spectrum and E.A.R) and magician Cian Ciaran (Super Furry Animals), the album is is a psychedelic dream-piece, and the realization of a band conjuring their own particular wall-of-sound -- at once relentlessly pulsating and blissed-out."In this day and age of ironic and increasingly obtuse band names, a band like White Noise Sound is refreshing. Like the heyday of generic foodstuffs, what you see on the label is exactly what you get here (...) WNS has been influenced by earsplitting bands from both sides of the Atlantic, including Velvet Underground, Suicide, Jesus And Mary Chain and of course the aforementioned Spacemen 3." - MOKB"Blending corrosive feedback, pulsating krautrock rhythms, floating vocals and wall-of-sound guitars, the track (Sunset) builds and builds into a perfectly judged ear-shattering, blissed out climax." - The Mad Mackerel"If you're gonna (essentially) cover Spacemen 3's 'Revolution' in 2010, good god this is the way to do it." - Arthur

WILDE KNIGHTS - Beaver Patrol - UNSEALED BUT MINT 2 copies only Label:VOXX (Voxx )This is a slice of true Nortwest Rock history, with material from a whole series of bands which reached their peak with the frat-tastic original version of "Just Like Me" and the simply astonishing "Beaver Patrol." Roger Huycke, Rich Brown and Dean Adair Adair all originated from Seattle where they had played in The Caravans, The Fury's and The Pipers IV. They headed for L.A. when founder member Ray Kennedy was drafted. Adding Rick Dey who joined from The Vejtables, lineup 'A' recorded the above two 45s. Paul Revere apparently paid Rick Dey around $5,000 for Just Like Me in 1965 and it became The Raiders' first big hit. The Wilde Knights later reformed in the Northwest in 1967 as Genesis and were later known as King Biscuit Entertainers (1968) and American Cheese (1969). The Rough Diamonds album, compiled with the help of Kennedy and the other and members, is strongly recommended as an excellent source of the careers of The Furys, Pipers IV, Wilde Knights, King Biscuit Entertainers and American Cheese.
