ASKTHE CHATTER OF POP:PAUL MORLEY This title collects interviews conducted by British rock critic and journalist Morley over the past seven years for London's New Musical Express. Subjects covered include Boy George, Marilyn, Ted Nugent, Sting, Duran Duran, Alice Cooper, Phil Collins, Lou Reed, Meatloaf, Quentin Crisp, Grace Jones, Iron Maiden, Wham!, Jim Kerr, Iggy Pop and Gary Glitter, and every other page carries short interviews with Jerry Garcia, Mick Jagger, Clash, Adam Ant and others. Morley maintains that rock superstars have passed from individualism to invisibility: "Once they threatened to flood the world with strangeness, now they just wave to the crowds." Often raising the ire of performers accustomed to idolatrous articles and fluff interviews, Morley instead puts his subjects through intense confrontation. ("Your music is trite and cosy.") In addition to examining the effect of pop journalism on the public perception of pop stars, he also uses William Burroughs-like cut-up techniques in a way that adds to this book's pungent flavor.) FROWNING CLOUDS-Listen Closlier-60sstyle garage Pebbles style-Label:OFF THE HIP DICOUNTED - CREASED TRAY CARD BUT OTHERWISE MINT. Amazing debut album by 5 teenagers from Geelong, Australia playing the most authentic sounding garage, beat and R'n'B you’ll hear today. You'd swear this album was recorded circa 1965. If you have ever listened to the comps; Back From The Grave, Pebbles, Ugly Things or Nuggets then you'll be instantly blown away by this fantastic record. The Frowning Clouds don't pummel you with fuzz. No, their's is a sadder, more forlorn look at impossible love, teenage angst and rabid yearning. CD $12 SKU:11326

PEBBLES “BOX” SET -10 LPs - Label:AIP With orig cover from rare UBIK version!PEBBLES. THE SERIES THAT INSPIRED THE ENTIRE GARAGE ROCK REVIVAL! In his review of the Pebbles series for Allmusic, Richie Unterberger comments: "Though 1972's Nuggets compilation reawakened listeners to the sounds of mid-'60s garage rock, it only focused on the tip of the iceberg. Behind those forgotten hits and semi-hits lurked hundreds, if not thousands, of regional hits and flops from the same era, most even rawer and cruder. . . . More than any other factor, these compilations [in the Pebbles series] were responsible for the resurgence of interest in garage rock, which remains high among collectors to this day." COMP LP $125 SKU:13594
