DATURA4- Demon Blues - BLUE VINYL ltd ed of 150 -Label:ALIVE NOTE - LP does not contain download card, add the cd for a lo price!
Hailing from Fremantle in Western Australia, DATURA4 is the brainchild of Dom Mariani (frontman of legendary Australian garage rockers The Stems and Power Pop favourites DM3) and Greg Hitchcock (former You Am I and one-time New Christs’ guitarist). In 2011 they joined forces combining a shared passion for full-tilt boogie, psychedelic rock and progressive blues.Along with drummer Warren Hall who previously played with The Drones and bass player Stu Loasby DATURA4 have been steadily building a reputation in their hometown with their live performances. With a healthy nod to Early ’70’s Australian Psych/Blues/Boogie from the likes of Buffalo, Coloured Balls, The Aztecs and latter era Masters Apprentices, “Demon Blues” represents Mariani & Hitchcock’s love of hard hitting bell-bottom blues. Fans of Radio Moscow will love this album! As psyched-out, louder-than-Sabbath blues goes, this record is out there on its own. – The BLUES Magazine 8/10 review“Demon Blues” is ‘very 70s rock. There’s also a deftness and pop sensibility in the undertow. It’s a happy marriage of the hard-edged and the hooky. – I-94 BAR 4.5/5 reviewTheir sound is very much vintage, but for some modern references I can thrown in Swedish acts such as The Nomads and the ace Sewergrooves. If those names mean sh*t to ya, then "Demon Blues" is pretty much satisfaction guaranteed. – VIVE LE ROCK 9/10 reviewThe LP and the CD have different versions of the cover designed by Joshua Marc Levy/Asheville Art Family (Black Crowes, Grateful Dead, Buffalo Killers).
The CD includes 3 songs not on the LP LP $15 SKU:16759

HOLLIS BROWN - Gets Loaded RUBY RED VINYL LTD ED OF 150 – Gorgeous clear red vinyl- Label:ALIVE RUST MAGAZINE SAYS: Hollis Brown makes today the best day ever. Their debut album “Ride On The Train” is an immediate classic. Pulling from the roots of rock, soul, ballads, folk and jam this hybrid sound feels as comfortable as your old jeans and sneakers on a stroll through sunlit paths. Get-up-and-jam tracks are mixed with patient ballads and they all sound distinctive. Superior songwriting, analog processing and a self-evident dedication to musical excellence across the board has resulted in a total package of musical intensity.
Not only is “Ride On The Train” a must-have for any rock and roll fan. Whatever you’re doing today, stop. Take a pause, just for a moment. Check Hollis Brown out. That task can wait. That email can wait. Invest just a single moment to take a listen to this amazing band. Essential. LP $10 SKU:16288

HOLLIS BROWN - Ride on the Train Ltd ed of 300 Atomic Orange vinyl - Label:ALIVE Taking queues from classic pop, rock’n'roll, and Americana, Hollis Brown combines raw rock sensibilities with sweet melodies and hearfelt lyrics to create a rich, warm sound that can fill any room. Principal songwriters Mike Montali (vocals) and Jon Bonilla (lead guitar) grew up listening to the classics. These native New Yorkers were born in the late ’80 s when the city was identified by its grit, passion, and authenticity. The combination of an urban upbringing and throwback musical influences of traditional blues contributed heavily to the band’s sound. However, contrary to most blues-influenced bands, Hollis Brown leans heavily toward melodic pop as well. You’d be hard-pressed to find a Beatles song these boys don’t know by heart, and you can hear it in the music. Classic rock with a New York state of mind, Hollis Brown is a throwback to an era when music felt fresh, songwriting was revered, and performances routinely inspired. LP $10 SKU:14940

MONDO DRAG - New Rituals - GREEN VINYL! Ltd. to 200 copies ( psych / stoner rock discovered by Parker Griggs of Radio Moscow ) - Label:ALIVE Trip out with Mondo Drag! From deep in the cosmos of Iowa, this psychedelic outfit has created a strange brew of garage, psych, space, sludge and stoner rock. "New Rituals," their debut for Alive, is an incursion into extended psychedelic blues guitar jams and haunting vocals over heavy, steady bass lines and thumping percussion. Mondo Drag has shared the stage with bands such as Witchcraft, Dead Meadow, Pentagram, and Radio Moscow, to name just a few. "They rock. Most songs clock in at over 6 minutes, yet you don't notice the time go by because they seem to take that long just to rev up. Each song stretches, cries, screams, and tears itself apart." - Berkeley Place LP $10 SKU:14388

PEBBLES. THE SERIES THAT INSPIRED THE ENTIRE GARAGE ROCK REVIVAL! In his review of the Pebbles series for Allmusic, Richie Unterberger comments: "Though 1972's Nuggets compilation reawakened listeners to the sounds of mid-'60s garage rock, it only focused on the tip of the iceberg. Behind those forgotten hits and semi-hits lurked hundreds, if not thousands, of regional hits and flops from the same era, most even rawer and cruder. . . . More than any other factor, these compilations [in the Pebbles series] were responsible for the resurgence of interest in garage rock, which remains high among collectors to this day."[SET CONTAINS Vol 1-5 on STARBURST HAND MIXED vinyl COMP LP $85 SKU:17190

$5 UNSEALED BUT MINT! BEST OF BOMP- VA Label:BOMP Records Greg Shaw's Bomp label released some of the finest power pop, punk, and New Wave of the 1970s and '80s, but it wasn't until 1978 that Bomp made the move from singles to full albums. THE BEST OF BOMP was the inaugural full-length, a compilation that featured tracks from a dizzying array of Bomp artists, from Iggy Pop to power-poppers 20/20 to Boston garage-rockers DMZ, and many more, painting a vivid picture of the underground music scene of the era. BEYOND THE CALICO WALL- V/A ( 60s psych ) SEALED -3 copies only! Label:VOXX We thought this one was out of print, but found a few in the warehouse! Excellent acid-punk sampler put together by New England collector Erik L. Issued fairly late in the game but recycling lots of weird psych numbers for the first time. A few tracks fall into the pointless-noise/novelty category but overall this was one of the best comps of the early 90s. All of the pieces are unbridled master strokes of the proto-punk D.I.Y. mentality married to the equally inspired garage rock psych of the mid- to late '60s. In a significant nod to collectors, none of these sides can be found on run-of-the-mill "best-of" anthologies, and there are only a mere handful that are available in any other incarnation. The material ranges from highly infectious pop melodies such as Duffy's spry rocker "Come Back Come Back" or the speed-fueled madness of the Waterproof Tinkertoy's trippy "Continuation." There are also a fair amount of indescribably acidic and downright far-out cuts, including the repetitive "Suzie's Gone" by the Afterglow and the rambling of Ceylib People's "Changes." In addition to the plethora of unearthed gems, Beyond the Calico Wall features a few familiar titles -- such as the faithfully extended 11-plus minute reworking of "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" from 6 Feet Under as well as Rasputin & the Mad Monks' jet-propelled rendering of "I Had Too Much to Dream (Last Night)." Bhagavad Gita includes a mid-tempo distortion-driven electric guitar wailer titled "Long Hair Soulful," which was co-written by Chuck Mangione -- who included his version on his Eyes of the Veiled Temptress (1988). It is unknown if the famed jazz flügelhorn player was once a member of this Ohio-based band. 11:24 COMP LP $20 SKU:2152

EXITOS A GO GO! - PLANETARY PEBBLES VOL 2- Rare 60s garage SEALED -Label:AIP LAST COPIES of this out of print and never coming back release! Few music fans are aware that there was an enormous amount of Latin American rock bands in the 1960's who perfected the American surf and garage rock sound. The well known Pebbles series has unearthed an album's worth of obscure goodies entitled Exitos A Go Go: Teenbeat South of the Border, which contains a range of other musical genres as well (beat, psychedelia, acid rock, etc.) from such places as Chile, Uruguay, and Peru, to name a few. Some highlights include the surf-rocker "Mi Pequeno Libro Rojo" (by the band Los In), the 60's rock of "El Fanatico" (by La Tropa Loca), and the Shadows-like instrumental "El Ovni" (by Los Hitters). Also, a plodding cover of the theme from The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly can be found here, entitled "El Bueno, El Mayo, & El Feo" (by Los Ramancieros). Highly recommended, and a godsend for collectors of 60's obscurities, since many of these records were either never issued in the U.S. or long out-of-print. GREG PRATO COMP LP $10 SKU:16982

All is utterly obscure and previously unreissued in any form. (And it's all cool as shit, too!) OLIVE, BRIAN - ST Green vinyl ( Greenhornes/Soledad Brothers - Label:ALIVE Henry Oliver (aka Brian Olive) is ex Soledad Brother and Greenhornes guitarist whose solo debut is a richly imbedded Stax-influenced late 60's, early 70's rock & roll circus. If you're a fan of the classics like I am, look no further, this is your album of 2009. - Electric Soul. "A pretty impressive self-produced affair that takes the trashy, rollicking, Brit invasion revivalist sound of his former groups and then injects a healthy dose of bluesy soul backbeats and N'awlins horns to the mix." - Other Music. LP $5 SKU:10277

OLIVE, BRIAN - Two Of Everything ( Prod by Dan of the Black Keys) BUBBLEGUM PINK MARBLE VINYL LTD ed of 50!~ Label:ALIVE Ex-Greenhornes guitarist & Soledad Brothers) Following his 2009 self-titled debut , which was praised for skillfully blending soulful R&B with raunchy garage and psychedelia, Brian Olive takes us further on his latest full length “Two Of Everything”. Listeners will recognize a number of musical touchstones here (Night Tripper era Dr. John, Exuma, early Funkadelic, Canned Heat, West Coast psych, etc…) but the end result is completely Olive’s own, an insanely dynamic, soulful , psychedelically-rich summer album perfect for intergalactic flight, night visions, or voodoo rituals.
“Two Of Everything” was recorded and produced by both Olive and Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys at The Diamonds in Cincinnati, and Easy Eye Sound in Nashville and features a revolving cast of talent including long time right hand man Mike Weinel, Detroit psychedelic caveman David Shettler (SSM, the Sights), Daniel Allaire (Darker My Love), Jared McKinney (Greenhornes), and with Courtney Jaye, Leisa Han, Kari Kragness, and Sarah Benn on backing vocals. HIGHS IN THE MID 60’s - Vol 2 LOS ANGELES LAST COPIES CRUNCHED CORNER! DISCOUNT --Label:AIP Turns out every jacket left at the pressing plant has a slight corner bend, sorry! But these will go out of print when these are gone. 60s Los Angeles garage rock scene, heavily influenced by the happenings on the Sunset Strip (including both the riots and the folk-rock sounds of The Byrds). The one-two of “Tell Us Dylan” and “He’s Not There Anymore” are among my favorite garage-pop songs from throughout the entirety of the Pebbles/Highs universe. The Tangents take on “Hey Joe” is a worthy competitor to the Leaves’ hit, the W.C. Fields Memorial Electric String Band’s version of “Stepping Stone” adds a nice helping of garage distortion to the (later) Monkees classic, and the ferocious organ-driven “Back Seat ’38 Dodge” isn’t your father’s hot rod song. COMP LP $10 SKU:2018

D- MEN - I Wanna Shout 4 page insert - Label:BREAKAWAY Take the 14 tunes of this platter, add a band named The D-Men, and you've got a driving, shaking demonstration of US mid 1960's british invasion influenced Garage Rock and Roll. The D-Men are best remembered today for their minor hit success with 45’s such as “I Just Don’t Care” or “So Little Time”. Their biggest success and recognition though, came in 1967 under their new name “The Fifth Estate” when they charted nationwide with their baroque rock adaptation “Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead”. But it’s the 1964 – 66 recorded tracks on this platter which were first played to the neighbourhood kids and then to wild fans which often brought the house down. Included are “Boom Boom," "Hi Heel Sneakers," and their unreleased demo recording of The Stones "Empty Heart". This punctuates its garage rock beat, with a fuzz ing deep guitar riff and sing ing with the sinister resentment that certifies the track as Nuggets ready. But the band had much more to provide than just cover material. With a gift for writing hooks and catchy melodies a string of excellent originals exposes the hidden side of The D-Men perfectly. "Like I Love You" recaptures the Anglopop charms of the British Invasion, even self-consciously sprinkling Fab Four-isms. "Don't You Know," is a song laced with the organ and guitar interplay ideally suited to take on The Animals, The Searchers, and The Dave Clark Five. More Beatlesque notions are provided in "Love Could Show Me", "I Just Don’t Care" and "Don't You Know," tracks that typify the group's early Merseybeat style. A long lost punk rock gem such as "When I'm Gone" explodes with all the subtlety of The Kingsmen's "Long Green" mugging The Kinks' "Till The End Of The Day," as Paul Revere and The Raiders' "Just Like Me" gets ready to pounce. The outstanding “So Little Time”, earned meager attention beyond the regional market. In truth, it deserves a place among the great, if overlooked, slices of hard-edged East Coast folk rock. All these tracks make up a significant part of the group's legacy. A legacy that will only be complete with such recordings as "It's Cruel," the psychedelic "Night On Fire," and the explosive live recording of "I Wanna Shout". This collection has the flamable stuff of the mid 60s beat generation – it’s something the kids could shake it up to. If you didn’t do then, do it now! The disc features painstakingly remastered sound and a 4-page insert with rare photos from the band’s scrapbook and a detailed band history written by Joseph TortelliLP $18 SKU:16045

DEAD BOYS - Younger, Louder & Snottier ( Rough mixes from 78 ) BACK IN STOCK!! -Label:BOMP Records YOUNGER, LOUDER AND SNOTTIER is a collection of rough mixes of the 10 tracks from the Dead Boys' classic 1978 debut, YOUNG, LOUD AND SNOTTY, in the same order as the original release. ...Amazingly, these rough mixes are even louder and snottier than the LP.
"Sonic Reducer" in particular has a corrosive edge to it that makes this dead-on punk classic even more powerful than it had been before. While some of the other tracks are less notably altered, there's a freshness to these sloppier takes that makes YOUNGER, LOUDER AND SNOTTIER not only an impressive complement to the original, but possibly its superior.
Recorded at Electric Lady Studios in March 1977 Includes liner notes by Cheetah Chrome. Dead Boys: Stiv Bators (vocals); Jimmy Zero, Cheetah Chrome (guitar); Jeff Magnum (bass guitar); Johnny Blitz (drums).
Liner Note Authors: Charles M. Young; Stiv Bators; Cheetah Chrome.

DEPRESSIONS- ST - 180 gram ltd to 500 ( 78 punk/ powerpop ) Label:BEAT GENERATION (SPAIN) An interesting chapter in punk history! Brighton based four-piece The Depressions were originally formed in 1975. Under the name of Tongue they gigged solidly around their local area, playing mainly Small Faces and Who covers. Once caught by the new punk virus, in '77, they changed their name to The Depressions and began to concentrate on their own songwriting abilities. DESTROY ALL MONSTERS - Hot Box 1974-1994 3 LP -w booklet, photos, and unseen artwork - Label:MUNSTER RECORDS (SPAIN) Triple LP version. Destroy All Monsters are known by some for their role as a bastion of resistance of Detroit's rock; for being, during their second period, the band in which Ron Asheton would reappear. For others, they are a pivotal reference point in the copious but relatively unknown avant-garde underground from the same city, after Thurston Moore and Byron Coley dug up their first recordings in 1996 and the original line-up reunited. Destroy All Monsters comprises two complementary and interconnected poles throughout the saga of the Motor City's music scene, from the University of Michigan's Cooperative Studio for Electronic Music to The Stooges, through to the White Panther Party. In its two incarnations, the experimental -- led by Cary Loren, Jim Shaw and Mike Kelley -- and the high energy one -- with Asheton and Michael Davis from MC5, both featuring the phantasmagorical Niagara in the role of doped-up priestess, Destroy All Monsters are the object of one of the most devotional cults of America's cultural underground, as testified by their abundant artistic and record production. Hot Box 1974-1994 is the first anthology to bring together the best outcome of those two hemispheres, including much unreleased material. Includes a generously-illustrated booklet featuring photos and artwork never seen before. All tracks have been remastered from recently discovered tapes. LP $72 SKU:16362

DETONATIONS - Static Vision - SALE Label:DISASTER Color vinyl. A three piece rock-n-roll time bomb from New Orleans with a unique freaked-out sound. “Now THIS is what's been lost in the age of CD: rocking out and then getting out before one's welcome has been royally outstayed. Detonations have thesame laudably single minded approach as Raw Power-era Stooges, paring everything down to pure driven riff.” - Shindig. “Sneered vocals, clunky rhythms and buzzsaw guitar riffs, all stripped of any non-essentials like harmony vocals and solos that consist of more than the song's main riff played louder.” – AMG LP $5 SKU:4481

DEVO - HARDCORE Vol 1 74-77-Label:SUPERIOR VIADUC DEVO's 'Hardcore' documents the groups beginning as pre-punk outcasts in the fertile Akron, Ohio, underground rock scene. Spawned at the nearby college of Kent State, site of the infamous May 4 massacre, DEVO formed as a conceptual art project armed with the radical philosophy of de-evolution. Brothers Mothersbaugh (Mark, Bob and Jim) and brothers Casale (Jerry and Bob), along with drummer Alan Myers, soon whipped up an otherworldly brand of "devolved blues" that could hold its own alongside the beatnik groove of 15-60-75 (a.k.a. The Numbers Band) or the primal rock poetry of The Bizarros. Recorded on various four-track machines and in tiny studios, basements and garages between 1974-1977, 'Hardcore' reveals their strikingly clear vision: rock'n'roll stripped bare of its collective cool and jerked back into propaganda fit for the post-modern man. It's no surprise that these transmissions would soon catch the eye and ear of Brian Eno, who later produced their landmark 1978 debut album. Noisy synth, strangled guitar chops and a primitive rhythmic thud power the early DEVO sound. Threaded beneath it all are lyrical themes of post-McCarthy paranoia, middle-class ephemera and DEVO's long-running topic of choice: sex, or lack thereof. Few moments in pop music history can match the grinding, pent-up energy of 'Mongoloid' and the spastic bounce and sputter of 'Jocko Homo' (two anthems presented in their earlier and superior versions here). Cult favorites like 'Mechanical Man' and 'Auto-Modown' make Volume 1 essential listening. Superior Viaduct and Booji Boy Records are proud to present DEVO's 'Hardcore' to a new generation of spuds, lovingly packaged with Moshe Brakha's stunning cover photography. As David Bowie said in 1977, DEVO is indeed "the band of the future." LP $26 SKU:17030

DEVO - Miracle Witness Hour 1977 - COLOR 180 gram - Label:FUTURISMO Spuds rejoice, for the Miracle Witness Hour is at hand! In 1977 DEVO played an intimate show to an eager handful at biker bar turned total dive The Eagle Street Saloon in Cleveland, Ohio. Unbeknown to those canny onlookers, they were to testify to the healing power of DEVO! But what of us now? Beautiful mutants fear not, FUTURISMO are here to rectify your late party syndrome. Televised through the antennas of time we give you DEVO’s most intimate unreleased live record ever - Miracle Witness Hour!

Released for the first time on any format, this remastered document of de-evolution is finally given the attention it truly deserves. A rare glimpse into the embryonic stages of the groundbreaking band way before the masses knew how to ‘whip-it good’, the Miracle Witness Hour boasts primal versions of the bands most recalled avant-pop songs, juxtaposed against some of their rarer experimental gems. Seemingly fitting for the kind of off the wall experience that would have DEVO’s dehumanised art house sci-fi set against the backdrop of Eagle Streets dingy and ruptured old world interior, it’s the playful live imperfections in this recording that genuinely make the Miracle Witness Hour an original and intimate experience.

This FUTURISMO release revitalises this event with exciting artwork and packaging that represents the bands forward thinking approach to the aesthetics that shaped the following decade. The outer sleeve comes die-cut revealing the box-fold reversible cover inner sleeve, itself containing a second sleeve, and housing rare images as well as brand new liner notes by DEVO founding member Gerald Casale. DILS- Dils Dils Dils repress with download - Label:Dionysus his Bacchus Archives release includes The Dils' WHAT 7" and tracks from a rare live album.Repressed in an edition of 500 with free digital download coupon!
This is a reissue of the vinyl LP Live, a high-quality 1980 board tape released on Iloki/XXX in 1987. Class War features a new title, new sleeve, new photos, and different liner notes. The sound on the disc, recorded just before the trio sadly split up, is hotter than most bootlegs, offering a parade of neo-classics: "I Hate the Rich," "Class War," and an incredibly improved (slowed down) "You're Not Blank." (Fans will also recognize "The Sound of the Rain," a Dils single the Kinmans re-recorded for their second LP with Rank & File, 1984's Long Gone Dead, as well as "Tell Her I Love Her," a hot song badly reworked for that same LP.) As John Silvers, the longest-running and best of four drummers who served with the pair, makes his vinyl debut here, even the material that's familiar from the singles (about half) sounds tighter and more powerful. Additionally, the band's debut single is tacked on in lieu of the four poor quality live tracks from 1977 that closed out Live.. ~ Jack Rabid LP $14 SKU:555

DREAM (NL) - Rebellion (180 gram gatefold cover features rare photos and full liner notes by mike Stax )-Label:PSEUDONYM The Dutch underground rock-scene of the late '60s and early '70s is laden with lost and forgotten treasures, but the music of the Dream -and their earlier incarnation Mothers Love- is among the most precious of these glimmering artifacts. Perhaps because the Dream released only three singles in their heyday, their music has not yet received the acclaim it deserves. The people at Pseudonym now attempt to rectify that situation with 'Rebellion', a full album of rare and previously unreleased recordings by the Dream and Mothers Love. Pressed on 180-gram vinyl and dynamically remastered from the original tapes, 'Rebellion' features all six of the group's single-sides, including the breathtaking psychedelic monster 'The Doting King' and the Hammond-powered rocker 'Rebellion (Can I Ask You One More Question)'. These acclaimed tracks are joined by the cream of Mothers Love's output, and five exceptional unissued numbers recorded between 1967 and 1971. The gatefold cover features rare photos and full liner notes based on an interview with band's leader Floris Kolvenbach. The music on this LP is irrefutable proof that the Dream were among the most original and creative bands to come out of the Netherlands in the 1960s. Music Style: Psychedelic Rock. Exclusively restored dynamic 24 bit remastering from the original master-tapes. The LP is a high quality pressing on 180-gram audiophile vinyl.
