NEW ARRIVALS

MILLENIUM - Pieces ( 60s sunshine pop /psych ) - Label:VOICEPRINT (England) By 1969, the Millennium, Curt Boettcher (who was also an independently contracted producer for Columbia Records), executive producer Gary Usher of the band’s “Begin” album, and a slew of Usher-produced acts like Gene Clark, the Peanut Butter Conspiracy and Chad & Jeremy, were all let go by the label. Combined with the internal conflicts the Millennium were experiencing, and multiplied by the inherent pressures of their rock-n-roll lifestyles, the loss of their recording contract was a fatal blow for the group. The Millennium disbanded in 1969, leaving behind a classic one-shot "desert island" LP. Yet the Millennium's breakup did not eliminate all interest in the group. Somewhere along the line, enough "people in the know" purchased or were handed copies of their album, and soon a small but devoted cult began to form around the record. For whatever reason, a good amount of unrealized Millennium material languished in the vaults. It is an incredible revelation to finally hear these missing puzzle pieces which reveal a band of enormous depth and songwriting talent. After listening to these unreleased demos, the divine results of the cosmically profound collaborative effort known as the Millennium become even more apparent. Unlike most of the concurrent L.A. super-groups (e.g. Rhinoceros), the members of the Millennium actually gelled musically. The various band members engaged in a variety of writing partnerships that resulted in some of the most beautiful (if under-appreciated) music of their era. Essential listening for sunshine pop and psych-pop fans! CD $10 SKU:12228

BAZAR - Drabantbyrock gatefold slv, insert and liners 70s psych prog - Label:SOMMOR Kick-ass psychedelic/progressive hard-rock from Norway! Wah-wah fuelled guitar action, organ, flute, melodic vocals and radical lyrics. “Drabantbyrock” combines heavy numbers, West Coast guitar jams and dreamy moments, featuring the superb guitar playing of Bent Patey. Highly recommended for those into Swedish hard-rock bands such as November. 24-Bit Remastering. Insert with liner notes by Klemen Breznikar (It’s Psychedelic Baby) and photos. COSMIC MICHAEL- St ( Ultra-crude basement garage psych and acid-boogie-blues from 1969 ) - Label:OUT-SIDER Ultra-crude basement garage psych and acid-boogie-blues from 1969!!! First ever vinyl reissue, original artwork, insert with reproduction of the original poster plus pasteable reproductions of original LP labels like those that came with the original release. Newly remastered sound
Who was the mysterious Cosmic Michael? Nobody knows for sure…rumour goes that he was a freak from New York who later relocated to the West Coast after living the Woodstock dream. That’s all we know about him. But before vanishing without trace, Cosmic Michael self-released a couple of primitive, home-made albums on his Bliss label. This is his first one, DIY stoner bluesy garage psychedelia with crude organ, guitars and vocals. Featuring underground classics like “Cosmic Michael Theme” (covered in 2013 by neo-psych band Psychic Ills) and “Now That You’ve found it” among others.. “One of the least “cosmic”-sounding cosmic LPs around, with a loose urban soundcheck vibe using equal parts Vox organ, piano and crude guitar, on top of which Michael semi-improvs lyrics to a steady basement boogie beat. An unusual LP that falls between any genres you can think up; The top attraction is Cosmic Michael’s “Theme” which describes in third person the acid-indulged transformation he’s undergone: “…some kind of chemical change is going on in poor Michael’s brain…” set to a rockin’ garage fuzz beat” - Patrick Lundborg (Acid Archives) “…Stoned '60s DIY rock 'n'roll. You can call it lo-fi or home made, but the message remains: Cosmic Michael preaches love and freedom, and he's a mean boogie-woogie player too. The songs run one after the other, as if part of one spontaneous recording …” - Forced Exposure. LP $26 SKU:16546

DOUGLAS FIR - Hard Heartsingin - ( 70s hard-driving psychedelic rock, heavy-blues ) - Label:OUT-SIDER (Spain) Reissue from the original masters of the one and only album by this great Pacific Northwest band. Nice orchestrations on some tracks which bring to mind Love’s “Forever Changes” or Johnny Rivers “Realization LP $26 SKU:16711

GLASS FAMILY - Electric Band ltd ed of 250 DOUBLE LP reissue - Label:MAPLEWOOD FANTASTIC DELUXE DOUBLE LP REISSUE TAKEN FROM THE ORIGINAL MASTER! DELUXE REISSUE. The Glass Family released their LP 'Electric Band' in 1968, an acid-, folk- and blues-rock album, with distorted guitars, swirling organ and dirty vocals, that since then has never been reissued until now. Along with a nice remastering of the original LP, this double vinyl package also includes a second disc full of never before heard unreleased tracks from their initial 1968 recording sessions. Standout tracks from the second disc that has a far rawer sound are 'Where'd You Get That Smile' and 'Two x Two' and includes an alternate take of 'House Of Glass'. Within the gatefold packaging of this double LP are unique band photos and a biography of the band's experiences in psychedelic 1960s Southern California. The Glass Family where a part of the 1960s cultural revolution playing gigs and hanging out with people who are now legends. A very relevant release for fans of US '60s psychedelia.

LITTLE FREE ROCK- Nirvanating Nervesounds w insert and liners(classic 60s heavy PSYCH rock) - Label:SOMMOR Psychedelic hard-rock featuring the explosive fuzz-wah guitar of Peter Illingworth. Little Free Rock were an underground British power-trio which evolved from heavy-mod-psych band Purple Haze. In 1969, the band released their only album for the Transatlantic label. “Nirvanating Nervesounds” collects previously unreleased sessions for an aborted Little Free Rock second album from 1971, produced by Robert Stigwood, plus tracks from their early incarnation as Purple Haze, taken from an ultra-rare demo acetate from 1969. The ’71 tracks were recorded when the band had just incorporated an African percussionist to their line-up, “Lord” Eric Carboo; also, ex-Killing Floor bass player John Taylor had replaced original member Frank Newbold. This new line-up shines on tracks like the terrific psych-funk sounding “Money On Your Mind”, full of drum breaks and frenzied wah-wah guitar. The 1969 recordings are taken from the only known copy of a demo acetate recorded in 1969, when the band had just changed their name from Purple Haze to Little Free Rock. Featuring some songs which were later re-recorded and included on the Little Free Rock Transatlantic album but appearing here in a superior, raw-sounding form. For many people, the recordings included here are the best thing Little Free Rock ever did and show how their first album should’ve really sounded. Most of these tracks were previously released on CD under the “Time is of no consequence” name but they appear here in a newly remastered, superior sounding form, most noticeable on the acetate tracks (no surface noise here this time!). Remastered sound. Four-page insert with detailed liner notes by Nigel Cross (Shagrat Records) and Klemen Breznikar (It’s Psychedelic Baby) plus rare photos LP $28 SKU:16713

MERRELL FANKHAUSER - a.k.a The Maui Album (1968 POP PSYCH WONDER ) - Label:OUT-SIDER (Spain) After his stint with Fapardokly, HMS Bounty and MU, Merrell Fankauser released his first solo album in 1976. Comprised of songs written a year earlier while Merrell and violin player Mary Lee were living in the jungle of Maui, this is a brilliant set of spiritual folk-rock and 70s orchestrated SSW light-pop The album was recorded at various Hollywood studios, initially sponsored by a producer from George Harrison’s Dark Horse label. In fact Harrison was so impressed with Merrell’s songs that he expressed interest in playing slide guitar on “Our Way To Hana”. Sadly, due to internal problems, Dark Horse backed off and Merrell found himself without a label to release the album. Finally, a couple of friends from Maui released it on the small Maui Music label. On the recordings, Merrell and Mary Lee were joined by several studio musicians, among them, drummer Bill Berg, who had played on Bob Dylan’s “Blood On The Tracks”. First ever vinyl reissue with tracks restored to their original running order and original artwork. Insert with in-depth liner notes by Jeremy Cargill (Ugly Things, Got Kinda Lost), presenting the most complete written story about Merrell’s musical career. "... It stands as a lost classic in Fankhauser's prolific catalog of work." – Jeremy Cargill (Ugly Things, Got Kinda Lost); “…Great melodic ‘70s psych. Merrell is joined by female violinist Mary Lee; she also was part of the earlier MU scene and lived with Merrell in a Maui jungle hut…– - Patrick Lundborg (Acid Archives) LP $28 SKU:16714

SANDSTONE- Can You Mend A Silver Thread ( 70s Psych Folk ) -Label:LION Sandstone's sole 1971 privately pressed album is one of the best and rarest early 70s US psychedelic folk rock records. Although only recently rediscovered, it is very sought after from worldwide collectors both for its rarity and musical quality. RESTOCKS

GRAVEYARD FIVE - The Graveyard Theme ( masterpiece of 60s U.S. garage rock ) -Label:STANCO BWThe Marble Orchard . A true masterpiece of 60s U.S. garage rock finally reissued after more than 45 years. Very limited pressing of only 500 copies, with replica labels. Fully authorized, licensed, restored and remastered. The first ever reissue of the legendary Graveyard Five single: 'The Graveyard Theme' b/w 'The Marble Orchard' (Stanco SR-102), one of the true "holy grails" of garage rock. This is truly one of the rarest 45s in the world, with only a handful of original copies known to exist; no surprise then that they sell for more than $4,500! 'The Graveyard Theme,' an exercise in fuzz guitar excess, was apparently inspired by a Ouija board session. The B side is the fuzz soaked reverb-laden monster, 'The Marble Orchard', which tells the true tale of the creepy, wet October night the band spent in the cemetery; they were convinced they saw something move from behind a tombstone and then heard "a wolfpack howl". If the circumstances and subject matter of these songs isn't creepy enough, the recording studio where these songs were recorded was supposedly haunted by a spectre that provided guest background vocals in the form of a growling noise thats clearly audible near the end of 'The Marble Orchard'. 45 RPM $12 SKU:15901

JULY- Second of July ( Stunning demos by one of the most important psychedelic bands to ever exist ) -Label:ACME/LION •Digipack with 12-page booklet detailing the history of July and their recordingsAvailable again on CD after more than a decadeBy this time, anyone with an interest in psychedelia that stretches beyond the Beatles or maybe Strawberry Alarm Clock (at a pinch), knows who July is. Well, at least they know that a band called July put out a super rare album that is considered by many to be one of the pinnacles of the psychedelic era. There's no way to overstate the excellence of the album, with its eerie sound, Indian-influenced chord sequences, studio trickery (tape loops/phasing), and heavily reverb-laden vocals. But that’s not the story we’re here to tell. Even before that quintessential psychedelic album was made, band leader Tom Newman was experimenting with home recording equipment. In 1967, he installed basic recording facilities in the bedroom of his flat in an old Victorian house in Ealing. There, he and guitarist Peter Cook tried out ideas, coming up with many of the standout songs from the July album. The demos they recorded display the kind of confidence that Newman feels was lacking in the album proper (yes, the ultra- famous psychedelic classic album!) that they recorded in 1968. Let’s go back to the near-beginning of it all, to a flat in a Victorian house in Ealing, and listen in on demos recorded with DIY alacrity by a studio whiz, tracks which will change the face of psychedelia, eventually, after decades of obscurity. LONDON DRI - Western Skies LOS ANGELES PSYCHEDELIC 1967-69 8-page booklet with history by Mike Dugo & pics -Label:BREAKAWAY London Dri entered Audio Sonic Sound Studio to record what would be their only 45-rpm single. ‘Life in Your Hand’, an original song written by guitarist Bruce Thomas. Released on the Yobo label, the single represented the entire released output by the Los Angeles-based combo. Between their 1965 formation and their disbandment in 1970, however—amongst hundreds of performances and even a movie appearance—The London Dri recorded several other songs that, had they been released, would certainly have earned the group a more prominent standing today among Hollywood rock groups of the era. One of the most remarkable tracks doubtlessly is 'This Is Life,' practically the London Dri’s version of the Caretakers Of Deception’s legendary garage/psych classic 'X+Y= 13.' Others, such as 'The Other Side Of Soul' and 'Western Skies' are both melodic period west-coast rock pieces with excellent psychedelic guitar playing. 'Hurry,' 'Wanting To Know You' and 'Sorry' are all from The Misunderstood school of sound and show some clear shades of UK Freakbeat/Psych bands such as The Game, Mike Stuart Span or The Attack. The only cover version is an over 5-minute long rendition of Big Brother & The Holding Company’s 'Combinations.' London Dri had it all: From garage-rock to classic US psychedelia to UK styled Mod/psych. Finally here’s the band’s legacy—11 killer tracks in their distinctive London Dri style. Detailed 8-page booklet with history by Mike Dugo & pics too. CD $17 SKU:16371

PLEASURE SEEKERS- What a Way To Die w the Quatro Sisters (60s ) - Label:CRADLE ROCKS Digitally remastered with many never before released recordings! the original 60’s all girl rock and rollers who started a revolution. The Pleasure Seekers lived, played, partied, and rocked the music scene in the Renaissance era of the 60’s, when female musicians were looked upon as “novelty acts”. The Pleasure Seekers and the music they played gained the attention and respect of Detroit “male rockers”, as well as the legends of the era. In just under five years, the Pleasure Seekers toured extensively throughout the U.S., Canada, and the Far East, as a headliner, as well as being support for acts like the Yardbirds, Eric Burdon and the Animals, Joe Cocker, Alice Cooper, Procol Harem, Badfinger, MC5, Bob Seger, Iggy Stooge, and many others. The historic recordings (many previously unreleased by the Quatro sisters) capture the beginning of their rock-n-roll revolution. The Pleasure Seekers were a forerunner, changing the myth of female musicians. Rockin it raw, with edge and attitude, they took over the garage, and unleashed their “Detroit Rock City” music on an unsuspecting world, starting a revolution for women to rock their music hard. To this day, these multi talented sisters are known as the teenagers who dared to go where women had not gone before, against all odds, stomping their way into a male-dominated heavy rock scene.
