This is a very special package of ephemera, not only for Flamin’ Groovies fans, but also for students of the 1970s punk movements – a selection of one-of-a-kind paper items from the time of the band’s late 1976 tour of the UK to promote the “Shake Some Action: album, a record, and trip that had a profound influences on the emergent punk and new wave scenes. As many of you know, Greg was the Groovies’ manager at the time and, having helped them get signed to Sire Records, was also their staunchest champion. Eventually he didn’t want to herd the cats any more, but these fascinating documents capture Greg’s efforts and would be a prize for any Groovies archivist.
-Original Bron Agency contract for the famous “Amazin’ High Energy” performance at Imperial College, London, December 12th 1976, signed by promoters;
-Original rider contract prepared by Greg as an adjunct to the above, signed;
-Cyril Jordan’s room service bill from the London Ryan Hotel (in the name of his co-occupant, roadie John Seaton);
-Authorization from Greg for expenses relating to the tour, signed;
-An “interim itinerary” of the dates to be played on the tour, with handwritten notes;
-An extensive list of the Groovies’ equipment, prepared for transportation and customs purposes.
