Tyburn Tall was founded in 1969 in Speyer, Germany and played progressive rock with classical influences; the instrumentation was organ, piano, guitar, bass, drums and vocals (keyboards, lots of keyboards). After many successful gigs, including opening spots for Golden Earring and Renaissance, the band decided to make a record.
This self-titled LP was released on the small label Lutz & Kern in an edition of 200 copies. Unfortunately more than half of the records were destroyed in a fire. Thanks to this calamity, and also the brilliance of the band’s music, this LP is one of the most sought-after German Prog/Rock LPs.
One of the highlights of the is disc is the cover version of Colosseum’s ‘Lost Angeles.’
