MARK “PORKCHOP” HOLDER- Let It Slide AUTOGRAPHED! Label:ALIVE MARK HOLDER HAS AUTOGRAPHED 10 COPIES OF THE CD FOR US, GET EM WHILE YOU CAN! WE WILL REMOVE THIS OFFER WHEN THEY ARE GONE, SO DONT WORRY, IF YOU SEE IT ON THE SITE, YOU'LL GET ONE! DIGIPACK -Guitarist, singer, harmonica player, and songwriter MARK PORKCHOP HOLDER is a founding member of the seminal Tennessee punk rock blues band The Black Diamond Heavies (with John Wesley Myers aka James Leg, and Van Campbell of the band King Mud).MARK PORKCHOP HOLDER plays the blues, and his music is the sound of the truth. He has traveled around the world and the US, and played at festivals, clubs, in the streets, at churches, in public toilets, army surplus stores, and in a mental hospital or two. After more than a decade of struggling with depression and addiction, he has finally come back home, in Chattanooga TN, and assembled a first rate power trio. His debut “Let It Slide” is a blistering blues album that marries both the modern and the traditional. “Let It Slide” has been described by the Chattanooga Pulse as “Boogie, sans bullshit. Dirty roadhouse music. Juke Joint jamming. Swamp rock. Too rock for blues, too blues for rock, the music is hungry, hard and mean." CD $10 SKU:18298

NEW YORK DOLLS -Live At Radio Luxembourg, Paris 1973-Label:LILITH (RUSSIAN FEDERATION) 2014 release. Before punk rock had a name, its name was the New York Dolls. Recorded for a radio broadcast in Paris in December 1973, this is arguably THE best existing live recording of the Dolls in their prime, complete with stage banter, appalling attempts at fake French accents and a whole lot of drug fuelled attitude. It's almost as if you were there, and for those of us who weren't, this is definitely the next best thing. In addition to thrashing through their "hits," the Dolls revealed their roots in covers of Bo Diddley, Muddy Waters, and New York's original bad girls, the Shangri-Las.
LP $14 SKU:17104

TRUE HEARTS (FORMER JUST BOYS)-NOT TONIGHT 4 SONG EP (1980 ORIGINAL PRESSING -Label:COUNTERFEIT RECORDS Terry Carolan was looking for a new project following the demise of his band, Just Boys. He had recently moved to LA to try and get the band signed, but unfortunately interest from labels never materialized and things fell apart. After auditioning and not landing gigs with such legendary acts as Badfinger, The Quick, Dwight Twilley Band, and others, he migrated to Houston at the recommendation of his longtime friend Gary Littleton. 45 RPM $50 SKU:18498

Rod Latter played drums (later to join the Adverts).LP $14 SKU:7387

NDN RESTOCKS

BARRACUDAS- S/T SAALE w. Chris Wilson of the FLAMIN GROOVIES - Label:NDN 2005 release of new material from legendary surf band now reformed with Chris Wilson of FLAMIN GROOVIES CD $10 SKU:4138

BARRACUDAS- What You Want Is What You Get (garage punk ) Label:NDN “What You Want Is What You Get” – Three minutes or more of squalling, screaming and kicking garage punk genius, flipped by “Somebody ‘05”, The Barracudas reinvention of their timeless “Drop Out With The Barracudas” classic, only this time, some 25 years later, the band is tighter, the playing is harder, and the attitude is more in your face. 45 RPM $5 SKU:12452

BARRACUDAS- Nothing Ever Happens In The Suburbs, Baby! - Red Vinyl 10”Label:NDN “Nothing Ever Happens In The Suburbs, Baby!” – 8 Tracks Of Pure 'Cudas Fun 'n' Roll! LP $10 SKU:12457

BARRACUDAS - ST -( ltd ed OF 100 color vinyl) -Label:NDN As a cursory look at radio playlists and cult whisperings will attest, The Barracudas reappearance after so long could not be better timed. Garage music is in fashion (again) and so is surf (well, Brian Wilson, and let's face it they might as well be synonymous). Power pop, likewise, from a 45 grave, has risen to reassert its importance. Indeed, all the styles the band have mastered and made their own are now current and selling. And another thing: The Barracudas sounds younger than yesterday but with experience supplying an edge that cuts across time to the heart of the band. LP $10 SKU:4392

BRIDE JUST DIED- All Hallow’s Eve -Label:NDN The time has come to tell the tale - Bride Just Died's debut album is finally here - mummify your pets and daughters!Bride Just Died started in Birmingham, the UK, some 6 years ago. After many line-up changes, the band finally arrived in the shape of a three piece: Rob (guitar), Rich (drums + backing vox) and Checkley (bass + lead vox). Soon establishing themselves as a raw-as-hell punk ‘n' roll band, they entered the studio and emerged with the "We Are The Hungry" 7" EP (NDN 14). That session also produced a speeded up version of the Damned's classic "Suicide", which found its way onto the "It's A Damned Damned Damned World" compilation CD (NDN 12). Not long after all this, Rob stepped down from the guitar spot and was soon replaced by Tat. At the same time Checkley hung up his bass to focus on the vocal duties, and from then on Ivan appeared on the 4-string. Bride Just Died quickly grew into a monstrously tight live band.

DRIPPING LIPS ( Damned /FLAMIN GROOVIES/ NICK CAVE- Such a Lot of Stars plus 3 pic slv- Label:NDN James' latest project, The Dripping Lips, features Scottish-born/Belgium-living Robbie Kelman on vocals, Nico Mansy (ex-Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds) on bass, and Paul Zahl (ex-Flamin' Groovies) on drums. The EP's first cut and title track, "Such A Lot Of Stars", is a beautiful and atmospheric, yet catchy song. Though "Such A Lot Of Stars", melodic as hell, still carries the signature Brian James edge, it's a bit of an unchartered territory for Brian, who gets to turn his guitar up louder on the B-side's first track, "Powerful", with its power chord grabbing you firmly by the throat from the very first rotation. 45 RPM $3 SKU:15813

VINCENT, SONNY- Resistor PLUS 2- PIC SLV GOLD VINYL . Label:NDN Three new songs by this grizzled veteran. Sonny's three piece lineup kicks out the vintage punk jams here. WEAD -BY THE WHEY / AND I & SHE-Label:SLOVENLY You’d figure that with the recent release of two new volumes of Crypt Records’ Back From The Grave series, and a vast stack of Last of the Garage Punk Unknowns comps finally getting their due, that the well of unheard '60s garage band recordings finally got sucked clean dry. Enter Tom Shannon of the mighty CHEATER SLICKS who dialed us up last year with a story of a customer he met while on the clock at Columbus, Ohio’s famed Used Kids Records, where he holds down hours and takes all the good stuff. Said customer delivered a perfectly preserved time capsule 7” acetate from his Cleveland juvenile delinquent combo THE WEAD: drummer Mike O’Callaghan allowed Mr. Shannon home recording privileges on proper gear where the resulting files were handed over to Black Gladiator / Slovenly Recordings for release. Much to garage kingpin Tim Warren’s chagrin, we sent him the tracks to apply his Crypt-style audio tweaking and manhandling, and we now present the first ever issue of this lost 1966 teenpunk masterpiece. “By The Whey” is a rabid punker wrought with menacing mod riffage, a twisted break and lead vox that shows the singer sounding like puberty was still miles away. The flip “And I And She” is of equal unhinged quality - a storming raver that would have easily fit on the “Teen Jangler Blowout!” volume of Teenage Shutdown, and it's as unique as we’ve ever heard 45 RPM $6 SKU:17873

X-Adult Books/ We're Desperate-Label:MUNSTER RECORDS (SPAIN) "X provided that rare mix of songwriting, personal charisma and musical expertise. More than any other band, their personalities were evident in their music, and were never even slightly conventional or dull. We'd been good friends with X for some time. I'd actually been in an early incarnation of X. We used to play at their house. I played an electric piano that I think Billy Zoom provided. It was just something that was lying around. That didn't last for very long." --David Brown 45 RPM $10 SKU:17604

BOLDER DAMN- Mourning ( 60s psych gem ) Label:SHADOW KINGDOM BOLDER DAMN from the U.S. is a prime example of how amazing a band can be, but yet virtually still unknown to a lot of people until now. Talk about HEAVY, this band was extremely heavy for the time of their debut release in 1971. They certainly challenged Black Sabbath in terms of heaviness. Their closing song “Dead Meat” would be considered some of the heaviest/proto-doom riffs to be heard back then. “Dead Meat” was an epic barnburner for the time. Even to this day that song still carries the same impact it did when it was originally released, much like the song “Black Sabbath”. For people that know more obscure greats like 70’s era Pentagram and Sir Lord Baltimore, this album fits right in with those. It’s a little more in the psych/fuzz heavy rock genre, but what’s not to love there? The album was re-mastered and the booklet contains a history of the band, lyrics, and old photos. CD $14 SKU:10975

COUNTRY JOE & THE FISH- Carousel Ballroom 14-02-68 w background notes and rare images -Label:KEYHOLE Recorded at San Francisco's legendary Carousel Ballroom on Valentine's Day 1968, this superb live set captures Country Joe & The Fish, one of the city's original psychedelic rock bands, at the peak of their powers, performing a mixture of material from the two albums they'd released the previous year (Electric Music for the Mind and Body and I-Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin'-to-Die), as well as the classic "Rock and Soul Music," from their 1968 third LP, Together, unreleased at the time of this performance. It's offered here in superb fidelity, complete with background notes and rare images. CD $17 SKU:16562

CREEPY CREEPS - Fink About It ( 60s style SURF garage ) - Label:DIONYSUS Creepy Creeps know that when it comes to surf rock, it’s no longer enough that you should simply play a guitar. These days, it’s about how weird you can make your guitar sound while remaining inside the boundaries defined by surf and outside of the boundaries defined by the blues-rock guitar pyrotechnics that ultimately pulverized surf rock into oblivion by the mid to late ’60s. The Creepy Creeps’ guitar warbles and chirps and resonates with pure punk static. The drums are solid firecrackers, and the keyboards are vintage and electronic. It is a wonderful sound, both authentic and novel. But the Creeps are revisionists, not pragmatists. They’ve managed to fire up the music with a boatload of their own ideas, not to mention living by a set of their own Rules to Rock. Adorned in Creepy Creeps chic (mariachi outfits, caveman drag, or spacesuits), the band plays an intoxicating concoction of surf mayhem and garage madness! The drunker you get the better they sound, and inebriation is all you can do to keep your bones from dancing right out of your skin. The Creepy Creeps home base is in San Diego and they have been playing the local surf and garage circuit for a number of years now (including a magnificent set in front of hundreds at Tiki Oasis 2008) and self-releasing their efforts. “Fink About It,” The Creepy Creeps first full-length LP for Dionysus Records, is a supercharged masterpiece.CD $12 SKU:11096

CRYSTALAUGUR-Terranaut (rare 70s psych)Label:OUT-SIDER Includes insert with rare photos and detailed liner notes by Jeremy Cargill (Got Kinda Lost, Ugly Things), explaining the fascinating story behind Crystalaugur and debunking many myths and false rumors about the band and their only album. Cargill says, "Terranaut is a rollicking, rumbling and lightly ramshackle bomb of cosmic teenage hard rock informed by an infatuation with the early rumblings of progressive rock (given a proto-punk edge by the discontent of the group's constituents)." Featured in Hans Pokora's Record Collector Dreams book with the maximum scale rarity. CD $14 SKU:17922

CYNICS- Blue Train Sessions ( 60s style garage )-Label:GET HIP This reissue of the Cynics’ debut album contains the entire "Blue Train Station" LP along with other material recorded at the same time. D.R. HOOKER-The Truth ( 70’s psych ) - Label:VEALS & GEEKS (Belgium) Genuine reissue of D.R. Hooker's The Truth (1972) from the original audio sources; new analog transfer with improved mastering. "It's a miracle any copies of this privately pressed album survived -- but be thankful it did, for here is an individual vision. Some people worry about when we'll run out of oil. A rather smaller proportion of us worry about when we'll run out of discoverable, deep-end thrills like this. There is just no way in the world items like Donald Hooker's 40-year-old privately pressed LP should even exist as a thing -- it more than likely only ran to about 99 copies in its original format, so how the hell did even one of those survive to create these new digital and analogue versions decades later? Connecticut-based Hooker -- a tall, slim hippy with a history of substance abuse -- was much given to wearing the sort of austere robe he sports on the sleeve, a fairly outré move even then. In early 1972 he hired a gang of local scene musicians to flesh out his wonderful songs and after a few brief rehearsals the band began recording. As soon as they were done they split -- some never even heard the finished album, and what a treat they missed. Hooker's arrangements are truly beautiful; a simple, swinging pop song like Weather Girl exists somewhere betweenthe Doors and Curtis Mayfield, whereas The Bible ('If they're knocking the Bible, be sure they are bent/ Just see and you'll understand the book is heaven sent') has the propulsive drive of a pained George Harrisonballad crushed up against some of Neil Young's freeform, string-banging joy. Then there's The Sea, with its rolling religious allegories and the remarkable Free which marries a growling hard rock throb to a vampirically groovy synth line. Hooker's masterpiece is Forge Your Own Chains, which is part conga-led, lounge-funk soul and part, questing psychedelic dream. To think this entirely individual worldview would have once languished, unloved, in a series of under-the-racks cutout bins. And how much more magic like this is there out there?" --Rob Fitzpatrick, "The 101 strangest records on Spotify: DR Hooker -- The Truth," The Guardian, April 24, 2013 CD $14 SKU:17925

DAVIS, BETTY-The Columbia Years 1968-1969-Label:LITA One can hardly imagine Prince, Erykah Badu, or Outkast without the influence of Betty Davis. Her style of raw and revelatory punk-funk defies any notions that women can't be visionaries in the worlds of rock and pop. In recent years, rappers from Ice Cube to Talib Kweli have rhymed over her intensely strong but sensual music. Betty penned the song 'Uptown' for The Chambers Brothers and wrote the tunes that got The Commodores signed to Motown. The Detroit label soon came calling, pitching a Motown songwriting deal, which Betty turned down. Motown wanted to own everything. Heading to the UK, Marc Bolan of T. Rex urged the creative dynamo to start writing for herself. A common thread throughout Betty's career would be her unbending DIY ethic, which made her quickly turn down anyone who didn't fit with the vision. She would eventually say no to Eric Clapton as her album producer, seeing him as too banal. In 1968, she married Miles Davis and quickly influenced him on the magic of psychedelic rock along with introducing him to Jimi Hendrix -- personally inspiring the classic album, Bitches Brew. Miles and Betty fans have long debated the truth of a near mythological session recorded in Studios B and E at Columbia's 52nd Street Studios on May 14th and 20th, 1969. The landmark session was produced by Miles and Teo Macero and featured Betty on vocals, accompanied by Jimi Hendrix Experience drummer Mitch Mitchell, guitarist John McLaughlin, Herbie Hancock on keys, and Dylan/Miles session bassist Harvey Brooks. Other players included bassist Billy Cox (Band of Gypsys), saxophonist Wayne Shorter, and organist Larry Young. Now, Light In The Attic, with full support from Betty herself, presents these recordings to the public for the very first time. These historic sessions -- never heard, never bootlegged -- predate Miles' revolutionary album, Bitches Brew, and are the true birth of Miles' jazz-rock explorations, along with the roots for Betty's groundbreaking funk that came years later, starting with her self-titled debut in 1973. While, ultimately, these recordings would go unreleased for nearly half a century, they would greatly shape each of their careers. The vibe is intrinsically unique, fresh, and futuristic -- jazz heavyweights playing psychedelia, rock, and jazz-fusion long before the term became commonplace. The songs include Betty originals and covers of classics by Creedence and Cream. The concepts explored on these previously unheard sessions fueled concepts that wouldn't be fully realized until years later with Miles' seminal On The Corner. Additionally, included here is the first time rerelease of a 1968 Columbia single, recorded in October 1968 at Columbia Studios in Los Angeles. The session was produced by Jerry Fuller and featured South African maverick Hugh Masekela on trumpet and arrangements, plus members of jazz-funk pioneers The Crusaders -- including trombonist Wayne Henderson and pianist Joe Sample. All tracks previously unreleased (except track B5/8). Production by Miles Davis & Teo Macero with performances from Hugh Masekela, Mitch Mitchell (Jimi Hendrix Experience), John McLaughlin, Herbie Hancock, Harvey Brooks, Wayne Shorter, Billy Cox (Band of Gypsys), Larry Young, and members of The Jazz Crusaders. Remastered from the original analog master tapes.New interviews, rare photos, and unseen historical documents from the Teo Macero archive." CD $14 SKU:17877

DEAD BOYS- We Have Come For Your Children ( 1978)- Label:DRASTIC PLASTIC 1978’s We Have Come For Your Children, the second album by the legendary Cleveland punk group, was a marked departure from their acclaimed debut the year prior. While not as gruff and edgy as Young Loud & Snotty thanks largely to Felix Pappalardi’s production, classics like “Ain’t It Fun” and “(I Don’t Wanna Be No) Catholic Boy” prove that it stands out as quintessential punk album. CD $16 SKU:16607

DEAD MEADOW/ BRIAN JONESTOWN MASSACRE- Got Live if you want it... last copiesLabel:BOMP / EVIL Got live if you want it (- Committee to Keep Music Evil ). Live album. From inception the three members, guitar-vocalist Jason Simon, bassist Steve Kille, and drummer Mark Laughlin set out to fuse their love of 70's hard rock ala Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Hawkwind and Black Sabbath with their own fantasy visions of strange lands as well as a good dose of punk energy and more recent influences such as Spiritualized, Jane's Addiction, and Bardo Pond. What they actually created is something even more esoteric than mere comparisons can conjure. CD $10 SKU:10678

DEMISE - End of an Era ( rare 80s Punk/HC ) -Label:GTA Records In 1987 DEMISE WAS FORMED!! The sounds being created were as raw as can ever be, a fast aggressive fast sound with zero metal influence, guitar that ripped, and deep screeching vocals, along with a fast paced short song attitude. Lyrics were about ; escaping the selfish ills on mankind, pollution, lame laws created by communist thoughts, capital punishment, and so forth. Lyrics created were not as a typical liberal viewpoint towards government, but just pure independent viewpoints expressed through HARDC*RE the way it used to be. End of an Era includes bonus demo cuts, songs from their 7" EP, their 10" +12" and a 16 page book, full color front. CD $10 SKU:4167

DEVO - Miracle Witness Hour Die-Cut Cover Digipak SALE! - Label:FUTURISMO CD $17 SKU:16798

SEARCHING IN THE WILDERNESS - VA ( raw, rare mid-'60s rock, UK ) -Label:MUZIEK EXPRESS While this compilation might prove mighty hard to track down, it's one of the better anthologies of raw, rare mid-'60s rock, concentrating exclusively on bands from the U.K. and Europe (i.e., this is not a "garage" compilation in the classic sense). Some of these groups enjoy a cult reputation, especially the Dutch ones (the Outsiders, Q65, Cuby & the Blizzards, the Motions); most will draw blanks even on the faces of specialist record store owners. Still, if you like the R&B/mod of the Pretty Things or the Who and are looking for stuff in that mode that's less polished, this is a good place to land. The Red Squares' "You Can Be My Baby" is as good as the best London 1966 mod; the Buzz's "You're Holding Me Down" is one of British producer Joe Meek's hardest-rocking sessions; Jimmy Page plays a raunchy session guitar lead on Sean Buckley's "Everybody Knows"; and the Outsiders' "Won't You Listen" is one of the wildest, most unhinged beat/punk performances of all time.
