CRAWDADDYS, THE - Here 'Tis -Label:VOXX Though they were around the better part of a decade, The Crawdaddys only ever released one album and a couple of 45s. CREEPY CREEPS - Fink About It ( 60s style SURF garage ) - Label:DIONYSUS Creepy Creeps know that when it comes to surf rock, it’s no longer enough that you should simply play a guitar. These days, it’s about how weird you can make your guitar sound while remaining inside the boundaries defined by surf and outside of the boundaries defined by the blues-rock guitar pyrotechnics that ultimately pulverized surf rock into oblivion by the mid to late ’60s. The Creepy Creeps’ guitar warbles and chirps and resonates with pure punk static. The drums are solid firecrackers, and the keyboards are vintage and electronic. It is a wonderful sound, both authentic and novel. But the Creeps are revisionists, not pragmatists. They’ve managed to fire up the music with a boatload of their own ideas, not to mention living by a set of their own Rules to Rock. Adorned in Creepy Creeps chic (mariachi outfits, caveman drag, or spacesuits), the band plays an intoxicating concoction of surf mayhem and garage madness! The drunker you get the better they sound, and inebriation is all you can do to keep your bones from dancing right out of your skin. The Creepy Creeps home base is in San Diego and they have been playing the local surf and garage circuit for a number of years now (including a magnificent set in front of hundreds at Tiki Oasis 2008) and self-releasing their efforts. “Fink About It,” The Creepy Creeps first full-length LP for Dionysus Records, is a supercharged masterpiece. CRIME DESIRE- ST ( h’rdcore gloom ala Samhain ) SAALE - Label:Life’s A Rape Take the slow songs off classic '80s hardc*re records, mix with the doom and gloom of early goth, throw in heavy doses of Samhain and even a hint of Integrity, then watch too many cult exploitation movies and top the whole mess off with bleak misanthropic and satanic lyrical themes and you might come up with something that sounds a bit like Crime Desire's latest outing CD $5 SKU:8430

CYNICS- Rock ‘N’ Roll- ( 60s style garage )Label:GET HIP Third album by Pittsburgh’s Garage finest. This release from 1990 featured a major lineup change for the Cynics, and showed the band continuing to mature as writers and musicians. Cuts like “Now I’m Alone” and “Girl, You’re on My Mind” (the latter penned for the Cynics by the Mystic Eyes Bernie Kugel) are hits that should have been. Other cuts like “What You Get,” “Business As Usual,” “Baby, What’s Wrong” and “Way It’s Gonna Be” show the Cynics at a peak of energy, creativity and ability. This release also includes a few well-chosen covers of forgotten classics from the sixties, revitalized with the Cynics style and skill. “Cry, Cry, Cry” and “Last Time Around” are scorchers, while “The Room” shows the Cynics lighter side. This album is a true classic. If you didn’t get it before, get it now! CD $12 SKU:10902

CD $3 SKU:2172015

DEAD BOYS - Night Of The Living Dead Boys-Label:BOMP Records The last-ever CBGBs show by the original 1977 lineup and the Dead Boys third album. Great sound and one of the best punk live albums. CD $5 SKU:1935

DEAD BOYS - 3rd Generation Nation (rare outtakes and liners by Cheetah Chrome )-Label:BAD BOY THESE ARE PRE-MIX RARE OUTTAKES OF “WE HAVE COME FOR YOUR CHILDREN”. RAW AND UNADULTERATED, THESE ARETHE REAL THING FOR TRUE PUNK-ROCK FANS. CHEETAH CHROME’S LINER NOTES:In January of 1978, the Dead Boys, for some ungodly reason, were sent to Criteria Studios in Miami, Florida, to record a follow-up to “Young, Loud & Snotty”. While it was nice hanging out with Andy Gibb & Co, it could have been done cheaper and more happily in New York. Somehow, we felt as comfortable as 5 men sitting in one electric chair, as Disco and Southern Rock ruled the land, and we had spiked hair and dog collars! The result was probably the most disappointed 2nd album in history. Felix Pappalardi, the producer, didn’t understand us, and didn’t want to, as he got paid no matter what, and had plenty of drugs to play with. The songs and performances however, were fine, but you sure couldn’t tell it from the mix, though the cover was nice! Here is a re-EQ’d mix of the pre-EQ’d session, bringing some of the energy and spirit that was the band out front where it belongs. Give it a second chance, it’s been worth the wait! “Big City” still sucks though!

DILS-Dils Dils Dils ( 70s L.A punk )-Label:Dionysus e Dils were one of the biggest draws on the late '70s L.A. punk circuit. Led by harmonizing brothers Chip and Tony Kinman, the group played short, aggressive songs with political lyrics, often from a socialist viewpoint. DINO & MONTEVIDEO BLUES - ST ( 70s Uruguay , 32-page booklet is packed with photos, detailed band history, and lyrics) - Label:LION The one and only album by Dino & Montevideo Blues (Macondo GAM 551, 1972) deserves to be a serious contender as one of the most important, and as it happens, most grooving, records ever released in Uruguay. But there is another reason that the album has attained exalted status: the incisive power of the lyrics, which are all the more impressive considering the national turmoil out of which they were created. Montevideo Blues was founded by Uruguayan song-writing legend Gastn "Dino" Ciarlo as a way to fuse the rawness of rock music with obscure native Uruguayan rhythms like malambo, milonga and chamarrita-a logical direction to pursue after Dino had attempted pop/candombe fusions in his solo recordings. "At the time, we were revolutionary and looking for change," said Dino. Montevideo Blues demonstrated an unyielding and combative attitude. During live shows in 1971, Dino often criticized the government-a level of political commitment reflected in the lyrics of the songs, some of the most radical ever set to music. Eduardo Mateo, the sacred monster of modern Uruguayan music, was succinct: "You have decided to prune the tree," he said to Dino. The album opens with one of Dinos most famous songs Milonga de Pelo Largo (Milonga of the Long Hair), a sinuous song transformed by the arrival of the dictatorship into a hymn of Uruguayan popular resistance. The rest of the album tracks have an edgy, atonal quality, with terrific unconventional angular guitar and a kind of ragged glory, all driven along by insistent grooving rhythms, whether from native drums or the clicking of drumsticks. Bonus tracks include beat-rockers Sendero de Rosas and Rubio es el color, from the rare "La Juventud" compilation album, as well as both sides of Dinos two early singles for RCA Vik. A 32-page booklet is packed with photos, detailed band history, and lyrics for this important Uruguayan band. CD $10 SKU:6892

DM3 - Rippled Soul (AUSTR) (power pop )- Label:CITADEL DM3's third album is arguably their best. The song writing is probably leaning more towards pop than power pop which may be the result of more co-writes than on previous albums. Mariani's guitar playing is more highlighted than in past releases and the overall sound has a great warmth and depth. Track Listing on site CD $14 SKU:13466

DREAM (NL) - Rebellion w bonus tracks ,rare photos and liners by Mike Stax -Label:PSEUDONYM Following the 2013 vinyl release, this mind blowing collection of Dutch psychedelia now also appears on CD, with extra tracks! The Dutch underground rock-scene of the late '60s-early '70s is laden with lost and forgotten treasures, but the music of the Dream -and their earlier incarnation Mothers Love- is among the most precious of these glimmering artifacts. Perhaps because The Dream released only three singles in their heyday, their music has not yet received the acclaim it deserves. This is rectified by the release of 'Rebellion', a comprehensive anthology of rare and previously unreleased recordings by The Dream and Mothers Love. On offer are 22 tracks, remastered from the original tapes, including all six of The Dream's single sides, among which the breathtaking psychedelic monster 'The Doting King' and the Hammond-powered rocker 'Rebellion (Can I Ask You One More Question)'. These acclaimed tracks are joined by the cream of Mothers Loves output, plus twelve exceptional unissued numbers recorded between 1967 and 1971. The CD booklet features rare photos and full liner notes (by Ugly Things' Mike Stax) based on an interview with band leader Floris Kolvenbach. 'Rebellion' makes clear that The Dream were among the most original and creative bands to come out of The Netherlands in the 1960s. CD $17 SKU:15896

HIGHS IN THE MID 60’s - Vol 2 LOS ANGELES LAST COPIES--Label:AIP Turns out every jacket left at the pressing plant has a slight corner bend, sorry! But these will go out of print when these are gone.

AIP’s second volume in the Highs series continues their exploration of the mid-60s Los Angeles garage rock scene, heavily influenced by the happenings on the Sunset Strip (including both the riots and the folk-rock sounds of The Byrds). The one-two of “Tell Us Dylan” and “He’s Not There Anymore” are among my favorite garage-pop songs from throughout the entirety of the Pebbles/Highs universe. The Tangents take on “Hey Joe” is a worthy competitor to the Leaves’ hit, the W.C. Fields Memorial Electric String Band’s version of “Stepping Stone” adds a nice helping of garage distortion to the (later) Monkees classic, and the ferocious organ-driven “Back Seat ’38 Dodge” isn’t your father’s hot rod song. BARRACUDAS - ST -( ltd ed OF 100 color vinyl) -Label:NDN As a cursory look at radio playlists and cult whisperings will attest, The Barracudas reappearance after so long could not be better timed. Garage music is in fashion (again) and so is surf (well, Brian Wilson, and let's face it they might as well be synonymous). Power pop, likewise, from a 45 grave, has risen to reassert its importance. Indeed, all the styles the band have mastered and made their own are now current and selling. And another thing: The Barracudas sounds younger than yesterday but with experience supplying an edge that cuts across time to the heart of the band. LP $10 SKU:4392

DEAD BOYS - 3rd Generation Nation 180 gram pink (rare outtakes and liners by Cheetah Chrome-Label:BAD BOY THESE ARE PRE-MIX RARE OUTTAKES OF “WE HAVE COME FOR YOUR CHILDREN”. LP $16 SKU:16567

PLEASE - 1968/ 69 180 gram 68 UK psych,w booklet ,liners & unrel demo -Label:ACME GRAMOPHONE UK Superb and historic collection of 1968-1969 UK psych—excellent somber, moody, minor key demo material taken from original master tapes and restored acetates; trying to follow the chronology of Peter Dunton’s projects is difficult—these tracks were recorded soon after the demise of Neon Pearl (a band documented by our own Acme/Lion CD release), around the time the other original members of Please were recording the Bulldog Breed album for Deram (another band documented by an Acme/Lion CD release), and just after Dunton had left Gun to rejoin forces with bass player Bernie Jinks, his co-leader in phase one of Please for the band that would eventually emerge as T2; booklet contains lyrics and notes on the band. This disc features the original killer demo version of 'No More white Horses' (a song that T2 would take into another dimension), as well as 'Folder Man,' written by Peter Dunton, which has been utilized by Gnarls Barkley on "The Odd Couple." 180 gram vinyl, shrink wrapped. PTARMIGAN- ST ( 70s folk psych ltd ed of 500 , insert lyrics and liners ) -Label:LION First official vinyl reissue since it's debut in 1974 . Massive fold-out insert which includes lyrics, liner notes from the band, and a multitude of photos and historical mementos. Rated by many as the best "folk/progressive" and/or "folk/psych" album ever made . From the master tapes Limited edition of 500 copies Huge insert comes with lyrics, liner notes from the band, and more.
Ptarmigan recorded the basic tracks for what would eventually become their only album in 1972. It then took the band’s producer and manager, renowned flautist Paul Horn, more than a year to find a label willing to release such unusual music. Finally, in 1974, Columbia Records released Ptarmigan’s album to critical acclaim, and minimal sales. The music of Ptarmigan is deep and authentic and intimate; it's reflective sounds are well suited to meditating on a landscape, an emotion, a bottle of wine, or maybe while staring at a flickering candle. Sometimes it is free-flowing and jazz-oriented; at other times it has the mystical feel of a shamanistic ceremony, fueled by Eastern-tinged harmonies. But in the end, this album is about the sea: Ptarmigan was, after all, from Vancouver Island, and the musicians were well-versed in the contradictory moods of the surrounding ocean. Hypnotic, mystical, largely instrumental tracks, all based on a complex interplay of recorder, hand drums and acoustic guitar—one of those hidden gems that make life better when you discover them all these years later. Rated by many as the best "folk/progressive" and/or "folk/psych" album ever made. As one contemporary review said, this is "music from musicians, for musicians, late-at-night, last joint music." PURLING HISS
- Lounge Lizards Live At Cantones, Boston 1982 ( psych pop ) Label:MEXICAN SUMMER "After a series of three LPs which alternated between mind's eye-gouging psychedelic excess and pine-scented woodshedding of pop tunes, here comes the logical endpoint between both: Lounge Lizards, six songs that stick around like sedan carpet matted with spilled Pepsi and Pat's wrappers, a hard drill that penetrates historical musical hits, like the Cars through Dinosaur Jr through Monoshock and into the cold, acrid air of present times." RAINBOW PRESS- There's a War On (68 psych insert with liners ) -Label:OUT-SIDER (Spain) Out-Sider presents the first legit reissue of There's a War On by The Rainbow Press, a cool US '68 psychedelic concept album with all the right moves: solid songwriting, refreshing harmonies, studio effects, organ, fuzz guitar, electric piano, sunshine/baroque touches -- think The Rainy Daze, Strawberry Alarm Clock, The Doors. The Rainbow Press evolved from The Continental Divide, a college band from New York containing members from two previous British invasion groups: The Group and The Specs. They were Bill Yergin on drums, Dave Troup on bass, Larry Milton on electric piano and 12-string guitar, Marc Ellis on guitar, Charlie Osborne on organ, and Joe Groff on vocals. All the members sang vocal harmonies and the twin electric piano/organ action gave the band an unusual and cool sound. In 1968, Audio Fidelity approached them and a contract was secured. The band changed their name to the more groovy-sounding The Rainbow Press and sessions for their first album started at Radio City in New York. There's a War On saw the light in 1968 on the Mr. G label (the "hip" branch of Audio Fidelity). It's hard to believe this perfectly recorded psychedelic beauty was made by college students! Remastered sound; includes insert with liner notes telling the band's story for the first time. LP $30 SKU:16564

ZAKARY THAX- Form the Habit 180 gram gatefold -Label:BEAT ROCKET Both sides of all six of Zakary Thaks' singles are on this last-word compilation, along with three instrumental versions of tracks from the 45s. All of this material has been reissued before on Eva's J-Beck Story 2, with the exception of instrumental versions of "Face to Face" and "Green Crystal Ties." Still, this marks the first time everything's been available in this fidelity in the U.S., bolstered by the inclusion of a lengthy interview with lead singer Chris Gerniottis in the liner notes. It takes its place as one of the very best single-artist '60s garage reissues, the songwriting and musicianship at a far higher level than most '60s garage bands could boast, with just as much insouciant youthful energy. From the punk of "Bad Girl" and the mind-blowing fuzz guitar of "Face to Face" to the Beatlesque pop of "Please," the folk-rock/pop of "Mirror of Yesterday," and the San Francisco-like psychedelia of their final releases (at times even sounding like early Moby Grape), it's all good-to-great stuff. Note, however, that different mixes are used than were heard on some of the original singles, which is particularly noticeable on "Mirror of Yesterday" (where the high mariachi horn parts in the break have been erased) and "Please" (which adds some poppy backup vocals to the bridge).
