BEGINNER'S MYND -SINGING MAN (80s Paisley Underground style)Label:HIDDEN VOLUME "The sophomore effort by the DC pop-psychesters features "Waiting For You" a memorably dreamy, mellotron-enhanced number redolent of the 80s Paisley Underground, not to mention their most up tempo number yet, the buoyant "Singing Man." Recommend to freakbeat addicts, greener than red heads, and syndicated dreamers." — Doug Shepherd, UGLY THINGS #42 (US) 45 RPM $8 SKU:17919

SEE SEE / BY THE SEA - SPLIT 7" 500 copies SALE - Label:GREAT POP SUPPL One of 2 new 45s on The GPS for June, this ones a split featuring a spanking new tune from The See See backed by a gorgeous debut from new Wirral band By The Sea. "Automobile" once again displays The See See's penchant for hazy, sun baked West Coast psych / power pop. Hooks a plenty, killer backing vocals, and a tidy follow up to the mighty "Late Morning Light" full length that came and went in a week on wax for the GPS, with a CD amassing salivating reviews throughout. The Wirrals "By The Sea" are steadily creating quite a buzz for themselves both on Merseyside and down here in London after a number of stunning live shows, where their (so far), small cannon of beautiful 60s flavoured tunes leave audiences eagerly tipping the band for future greatness. Sublime songwriting recalling The Left Banke, Gene Clark, The WCPAEB, with subtle nods to that first euphoric moment you heard the Stone Roses for the first time. This single could almost only come out late Spring, early Summer- 2 gorgeous tunes in tastily packaged vinyl only. Just a perfect pop record and one which sees its release celebrated with a launch show at the perfect setting of the Williamson Tunnels in Liverpool on Sat. June 11th. 500 only so be quick. 45 RPM $5 SKU:12942

SUNSETS (AUSTRALIA)-ANIMAL/UPTIGHT, OUT OF SIGHT (1967)-Label:BLANK Two completely unreleased, undiscovered, undocumented Sunsets sides! In May 1967 The Sunsets single 'The Hot Generation' b/w 'This Is What It's All About' was issued to co-incide with the release of the Australian surf film of the same name. Both songs were featured in the movie soundtrack. The film was screened, and scheduled for release was another single from The Sunsets, comprising two more songs from the movie. 'Animal' b/w 'Uptight, Out Of Sight' was prepared to be released in August 1967, but one way or the other, it didn't happen. Since then both sides have sat untouched in the Festival label's tape vaults. UNTIL NOW!!!!! 45 RPM $12 SKU:17469

TERRIBLE TWOS -Radical Tadpoles SPACE ROCK - Label:X RECORDS X! Records continues it's perfect batting average with the "Radical Tadpoles" EP. Still feeling the Piranhas vibe, but a little more space rock than jazz oriented. "Chinky Glass Eye" and "An Image Break" have some downright pretty synth sounds working against it (for it) that'll speak to the Dr.Who or Wendy Carlos nerd in all of you. Like some shortwave radio transmission interfering with yer stereo. Downright operatic in a garbage can prog-punk sort of way. "Nap Time" starts off with some grossly out of tune guitar squelch and fluttery keys that gives way to some epic grand scale madness akin to say, Human Eye. Well, damn....just buy this thing. Pronto. Oh yeah...that's not a locked groove at the end either. A top five single of the year, guarantee. 45 RPM $3 SKU:17366

TOMCATS/LOS JUNIOR'S- A Tu Vera/Te Fuiste ( 60s nuggets RSD release ) -Label:MUNSTER RECORDS (SPAIN) RSD 2015 release. Special split 7" featuring two untamed '60s nuggets from Munster's Algo Salvaje compilation (MR 314CD/LP). English band Tomcats visited Spain in 1965 and they recorded this rifftastic and fuzzed out version of the classic copla song "A tu vera." On the other side, "Te fuiste" by Pamplona's Los Junior's is a spectacular mid-tempo driven by an imposing rhythm and an undulating organ of clearly lysergic reminiscences. 45 RPM $10 SKU:16675

Q65 THE BOOK PIM SCHEELINGS - Label:UGLY ThiNGS 208 pages with tons of rare photos, interviews and discography. The five original members of Q65 first banded together in The Hague in the Netherlands in 1965. Joop Roelofs, Frank Nuyens, Willem Bieler, Peter Vink and Jay Baar were an unlikely, often volatile gang of outcasts and misfits, but with their raw, unconventional music and rowdy, unkempt image they quickly built up a large and fiercely loyal following. Their first record, "Youre the Victor," kicked off a string of hit singles for the group including "The Life I Live," "From Above" and "World of Birds." Their 1966 debut LP, Revolution, sold over 50,000 copies, topping the Dutch album charts ahead of new releases by the Rolling Stones, the Troggs and the Animals. By 1969 it had all fallen apart, but in the few short years they were together Q65 recorded some truly extraordinary music. They continue to be regarded, quite rightly, as one of the great, unsung bands of the era. Pim Scheelings has captured their story in all its strange, stoned, comical, complicated, tragic glory-the drink, the drugs, the fights and, of course, the music-all discussed and dissected in frank, often brutally honest words by the surviving band members and their collaborators. This is the story of Q65: no punches pulled-the whole truth and nothing but the truth. BOOKS & MAGS $19 SKU:12284

SHOT IN THE DARK- Collected Photography of David Arnoff - Label:SYMPATHY PRESS AMAZING book, the best of it’s kind we’ve seen. HARDCOVER In his stunning catalogue of the nascent punk scene, Arnoff has captured the essence of a period which spawned many young artists who have become icons – underground characters who have become essential to the development of legions who have followed in the footsteps of these giants. From a baby-faced Nick Cave and The Birthday Party, and fledgling legends, the Cramps, to Los Angeles’ beloved X, and the wonderfully loud and rude of many varieties, this book is a delightful romp through the devil’s playground, with in-your-face concert shots, candid moments with no less than Joan Jett and Blondie, along with brilliant album covers, like the Cramps’ Songs the Lord Taught Us.One of the best rock photographers of his generation, David Arnoff has been described by Lydia Lunch as a “A renegade misfit from the Rust Belt shooting outcasts who congregate from one ghetto to the next in search of other miscreants to make mischief with.”This strictly limited edition of 1500 hardcover (faux-leather bound and embossed hardcover) collects for the first time over 150 of Arnoff’s raw black-and-white photographs and vividly captures the dirt, sweat, altered states and “ungodly sounds” of some of rock’s most potent players. Shot in the Dark collects the cream of the crop, both classic & previously unpublished. It is 186 heavyweight pages of in-your-face concert shots & intimate portraits all in one big volume. Volume – as in LOUD.This deluxe package is supplemented by personal insights and eye-witness accounts from many of the prime suspects including Motorhead, Nick Cave, X, Jayne/Wayne County, Walter Lure, & the Dead Boys, plus a new conversation between Arnoff and Lydia Lunch BOOKS & MAGS $40 SKU:18285

BEAT OF THE EARTH- ST (: 60s underground psych)Label:STONED CIRCLE (UK) After being discovered by fans of '60s underground psychedelia in the late 1980s, the sole self-titled 1967 album by Orange County band Beat Of The Earth has grown into a classic within the field, in spite of its rarity. The improvisational music on the album cannot be easily categorized, but most would agree that it represents a unique link between mid-1960s California and the droning acid rock of the later era. From a preternatural surf-era 45 and a local b-movie soundtrack, Phil Pearlman's ascent (or descent) presents a fascinating slice of music history for anyone to chew on. Unbeknown to Pearlman and friends, they had unleashed a primal head record that astounds still. Recorded in 1967 in Hollywood with legendary producer Jim Sidore, Beat Of The Earth's legacy remains as fresh and inventive today as it did in 1967. Stoned Circle proudly presents a collision of vision and artistry. Professionally re-mastered original sound recording with expansive liners, interviews and rare archival photos. CD $16 SKU:17744

BLAIR 1523 (Spacemen 3 related ) - Beautiful Debris ( Psych/Drone ) SAALE -Label:VOXX 060 Brought to us by Sonic Boom of Spacemen 3, this remarkable band from the bucolic shire of Cornwall had a variety of strengths, from strong pop songwriting to a penchant for extended freakout jams, all of which is captured on this, the only record they made before sadly breaking up. To those few fortunate enough to have heard it, it remains an esoteric favorite.. Psychedelic swirl/drone pop Early Floyd/ Elevators sound by his amazing UK band. “This album is worth buying for the cover alone. Dripping with glassy pastels of brilliant greens, pinks, purples, yellows and blues, the art work complements a round of houka hits supremely. The music picks up where Syd Barrett and early Pink Floyd left off in the '60s.” - American Music Press CD $5 SKU:13057

BLISS (USA)- Return to Bliss ( legendary 70s psych trio ) new lo price -Label:HALLUCINATIONS Arizona power-trio Bliss' second album, previously unreleased. How can that be, you ask? During the making of the classic eponymous Bliss LP (released on Canyon in 1968/69), the band recorded two LP's at once—the second was never released, until now. Raw, heavy power trio action from Arizona (Brad Reed, Rusty Martin and Corky Aldred), very powerful indeed; producer, as on the Canyon LP, was Hadely Murrell. Some feel that ‘Hippies, Cops And A Bunch Of Rocks’ and ‘Music Train’ are destined to become classics of the psychedelic genre CD $12 SKU:8402

What makes it better than so many 'cover' LPs is that rather than just looking at one act - Link Wray or Sam The Sham, for example - where the choice can get a bit thin, there is an opening up and the opportunity to cover one band's best song. And there are a lot of best songs on this brilliant record. I'd love to hear all the originals. TRACKLISTINGS ON SITE COMP LP $14 SKU:14773

REMBRANDT RECORDS STORY:- OPEN UP YOUR MIND 1966-67 - PLUS+ 7 - Label:BREAK-A-WAY REMBRANDT Records, a Chicago based Garage and Psychedelic label of the sixties. After the first release by the Nite-Owls failed to chart, Rembrandt Records’ owner Reggie Weiss moved in a different direction. His next release, “Open Up Your Mind” by the Nuchez, merged pop with psychedelic music. The song was based on an LSD trip and response to the single was positive. Soon other psych and psych-pop singles were issued by The Circus, The Nickel Bag, and Monday’s Children. Cash Box magazine began plugging Rembrandt Records during the fall of 1966. By 1967, Weiss was devoting all of his time to promoting a high-school band called The Lemon Drops. He wrote another LSD inspired song titled “I Live In The Springtime” for the band. Unfortunately, the single was unable to chart, even regionally. Over the ensuing decades though, the reputation of The Lemon Drops, The Nuchez, The Nite-Owls and other Rembrandt artists has grown immeasurably. This compilation contains the most important singles sides issued on Rembrandt Records between 1966-1967, plus a number of essential previously unreleased versions that are appearing for the first time ever on vinyl. The fourteen recordings on this album make it apparent that Rembrandt Records was way ahead of its time when these treasures from the psychedelic 60’s were recorded. SCHNITZELBEAT, Vol 2 -Raw Teenage Beat And Garage Rock Anthems From Austria 1964-1970- Label:DIGATON Raw Teenage Beat And Garage Rock Anthems From Austria 1964-1970'. The artists compiled on this collection translate the air of unrestrained abandon transported by the newly emerging popular genres into their own, locally flavored idiom: Teenage Beat and Garage Rock made in Austria, 1964-1970. Presenting internationally operating epigones of Austrian underground sound of the 1960s (THE SLAVES, THE GAMBLERS) alongside recently re-discovered trailblazers of independent production (THE LOST GENERATION, THE EARLS), 'Schnitzelbeat Vol. 2' is the first compilation of its kind to pay respect to the wilder side of home-grown Austrian teenage sound of the 1960s in all its diversity. You'll find instro rock smashers, beat ballads, straight-up rhythm'n'blues pieces, jangling, folksy harmonies, savage proto-punk blowouts, and, of course, the off-the-wall appropriations of well-known international beat hits that often provided ambitious amateurs with the jump-start they needed to get their own sound up and running. DRUM CIRCUS -Magic Theatre (1971 truly insane psychedelic music with LSD drenched lyrics )-Label:GARDEN OF DELIGHTS Rare album by Swiss band, featuring two members of Brainticket including their leader Joel Van Droogenbroec; truly insane psychedelic music with LSD drenched lyrics by Timothy Leary; first released in 1971. "Founder and leader of Drum Circus was master drummer Peter Giger. “A giant on drums”, as the newspaper “Rhein-Main-Zeitung” called him. He was joined by two additional drummers, as well as by Joel Vandroogenbroeck and Carole Muriel, both from Brainticket. Therefore, it’s not surprising that “Magic theatre”, with its LSD-dripping lyrics (partly written by Timothy Leary, partly influenced by The Tibetan Book of the Dead), is a lot like early Brainticket. “Magic theatre” was recorded in the excellent studio of Horst Jankowski in Stuttgart. Yet, it remained unreleased. Shortly before his death, Horst Jankowski gave the tapes to Peter Giger LP $24 SKU:18027

EDDY DETROIT- Shock-A-Lock-A-Lickum Ltd ed. ( STooges, Mc5 connection ) -Label:ASSOPHON (United States) Where to start with Eddy Detroit? Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, it was there, in 1966, that he was in attendance for the first Iguanas gigs (Iggy Stooge's first band). He joined the White Panther party in Detroit and was "there" for the pre-punk sounds of The Stooges and MC5 ("We all smoked dope on the state Capitol and got beat up by the cops"). In the early '70s he traveled to London, where he stalked Marc Bolan and tried to seduce Tony Visconti's then-girlfriend Mary Hopkin. It was with Ms. Hopkin, when he was dropping off a demo tape at the Apple store, that he witnessed the moment when Ringo found out that The Beatles had broken up! (We've got the pictures to prove it!) In the mid-'70s, Detroit settled in Hollywood and started The Terminal Wave Band (bongo/synth/punk) which was the soundtrack to the hippy/biker/S&M/satanic/polyamorous scene that Detroit ruled in dingy, underground LA -- that's when he wasn't trying to seduce Nico (The Velvet Underground) to become one of his muses and lovers ("True story bub"). When rents in LA got too much for an acid-fried biker/S&M/punk, Eddy moved to Phoenix, AZ, and was seminal in fostering one of the most interesting underground musical scenes of the early '80s. He was an unofficial member of the Sun City Girls, toured with the Meat Puppets and Mighty Sphincter, and was the pith-helmeted shaman-in-residence at his club The Grotto! This LP contains recordings made from 1979 to 2010. They run the gamut of Detroit's musical landscape, from the UK acid-folk of Tyrannosaurus Rex and The Incredible String Band through bongo-fueled satanic calypso to his new phase as a troubadour recounting tales of hobos, whores, and one-eyed jacks from the old west. Limited edition of 500 copies. LP $19 SKU:17204

ELECTRIC EELS - Die (75 punk Dead Boys style) SALE - Label:SUPERIOR VIADUCT Cleveland's electric eels (all lower case in homage to poet e.e. cummings) is America's qRecommended for fans of Dead Boys, Simply Saucer, and PagansQuintessential proto-punk band. Formed in 1972 by singer Dave E. McManus and guitarists John Morton and Brian McMahon, the group enlisted drummer Nick Knox (later of The Cramps) and producer Paul Marotta to record a flurry of catchy and genuinely fucked-up tunes. After only five legendary live performances -- complete with Dave E. in black leather jacket covered in rat-traps and playing a gas-powered lawnmower on stage -- the eels broke up in 1976 and posthumously released their classic single Agitated on Rough Trade in 1978, blazing a trail for high-art, low-concept rock. As Jon Savage writes in the liner notes, 'There is something heroic about the eels' isolation and uncompromising attitude: a fierceness that you can hear in these songs that still resonates in a different time and world.' This archival LP collects the eels' best material from 1975. From the loud and snotty 'Agitated' and its B-side 'Cyclotron' (which Johan Kugelberg listed as #1 in his top 100 punk singles) to the anarchic anthem 'Jaguar Ride' and the loose, bluesy sludge of 'Anxiety,' the album exorcises the demonic power of the Stooges and Velvets and captures the mystique of these outsider artists inventing a new language. As the eels demand 'Attendance Required' on their flyer for the infamous Special Extermination Music Night, listening is absolutely mandatory for this seminal band. LP $22 SKU:16796

ELECTRIC PRUNES - Stockholm 67 ( PSYCH!) 180 GRAM GATEFOLD SAALE -Label:SUTRO In the winter of 1967, a psychedelic-garage-punk band from Woodland Hills, California arrived in Europe for what would be their first and last tour of the continent. On the strength of their hit single 'I Had Too Much to Dream Last Night,' the band was welcomed with open arms by European rock fans as well as British rock royalty -- they smoked out with Hendrix, partied with Brian Jones and Keith Moon, and hung out in the studio with the Beatles -- but were also subjected to harassment and ridicule over the fact that their homeland was at war in Vietnam. On the last stop of the tour someone pushed the record button and this artifact is the result. Stockholm '67 finds the Electric Prunes at the height of the powers. Over-amplified and fuzzed to the max, the 'Prunes here are explosive, noisy, and wild. This recording proves that the Electric Prunes deserve to be ranked alongside the very best bands of their era." 180 gram vinyl in a gatefold sleeve LP $18 SKU:14670

FAMILY FODDER-Sunday Girls (Director's Cut)-Label:STAUBGOLD (GERMANY) LP version. The legendary first 12" EP by UK underground heroes Family Fodder, originally released in 1979, is now reissued for the first time. Sunday Girls (Director's Cut) is a lovingly assembled full-length album compilation featuring the complete Sunday Girls EP, the debut Family Fodder 7" Playing Golf (With My Flesh Crawling)/My Baby Takes Valium (1979), the Debbie Harrry/A 'Version' 7" from 1980, the 7" A-side "Warm" (1980), and two tracks from the rare Te Deum 12" (1979) by Alig Fodder's pre-Fodder project Frank Sumatra. Family Fodder was originally formed in 1979 by Alig Pearce, with a cast of thousands joining over the ensuing three decades. They emerged from the melting-pot of '70s/'80s London alongside This Heat, The Flying Lizards, The Pop Group, The Slits, and many others. The original formula consisted of psychedelic and new wave influences, incisive songwriting, improvisation, experimentation, and far-out dub mixing. They always managed to evade major exposure, but influenced generations of bands on five continents. Family Fodder was often more at home in the studio than on stage, but completed several European tours as well as cherished performances in their native London. The group released a series of compelling (now collectable) singles and albums between 1979 and 1983. Described as "entertaining idiosyncratic experimentalism with pop sensibilities," Family Fodder appear on the famous Nurse With Wound list, and were best known for indie-chart hits such as "Debbie Harry," "Playing Golf (With My Flesh Crawling)," and "Savoir Faire." More recently, Family Fodder songs have been covered by Zion Train and Unrest, and they've been hailed as "unsung heroes" in The Wire. LP $15 SKU:17106
