COMMUNICANT- She Moves the Day(psych) Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE A love song at heart, “She Moves The Sky” exalts a love so powerful it shifts the universe itself, controlling everything from the wind to the gravitational pull of the tide and even time and the sky itself. Musically inspired by the crunchy, Revolver-esque ‘60s UK psych that melts your head with melody, the song draws inspiration from July, The Factory, Tomorrow and, naturally, The Beatles. Band leader Dylan Gardner plays all instruments on the song, with a vocal sung through a telephone mic built by his brother, Mark, which lends a Lesley-style effect reminiscent of those on the legendary July album. A Rickenbacker bass provides a quintessential driving thud, while the drums were inspired by Ringo’s on “Rain”. After writing the guitar parts, Dylan learned them backwards on his Gibson SG, then reversed the recordings to achieve the desired psychedelic “volume swell.” 45 RPM $10 SKU:24070

To many, their edgy dissonant sounds and relentless fuzz-fuelled drive, tinged with flights of psychedelic fancy, makes The Seeds the quintessential exponent of the genre, as heard on such classics-for-the-ages as “Pushin’ Too Hard,” “Can’t Seem To Make You Mine” and “Mr Farmer.” Their eponymous 1966 debut album has long been recognized as a minimalist rock ’n’ roll masterpiece, while its sequels, the pop-art A Web Of Sound and florid Future, have also grown more influential as time goes on. MINERS OF MUZO-REALLY.. IS THAT A FACT? (DUTCH 60s inspired garage psych)--Label:DOWN AT THE NIGHTCLUB The official release of 'Really.... Is That A Fact?' on Down At The Nightclub Records. A few copies of this CD were previously released in 2013 by the band as a promo CD. The CD features Lee (vocals and guitars), GJ (drums), Marc (bass), Wannes (guitars), Corn Biekens (lead guitar on #4) and The Salsa Kid (Trumpets on #4, #9 and #12). The CD contains an eight page lyrics booklet. On offer are 13 sparkling guitar songs, sometimes stomping fierce, fuzzing and rocking the garage way, sometimes melodic, or even melancholic, but always with conviction and persuasion and depth. You can hear the influences from the past, you can hear some '60s twang or some '70s hook, but it is definitely a contemporary sound. The Miners are diggin' deep once more. HE PUT THE BOMP- - PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED psych/garage tracks by RADIO MOSCOW,/BLACK KEYS /NIKKI CORVETTE/BARRACUDAS -Label:BOMP his is not a tribute album per se, but more of a remembrance of Greg Shaw and his unique perspective.We asked the bands to go into the studio and cut the cover song they felt was most in tune with the idea of the label and the result is a nice brew of garage punk, power pop and psychedelia that we think captures the spirit and sound of Bomp records.

The Plimsouls and Lyres covered the Easybeats and the Outsiders respectively, the Black Keys surprised us with their rendering of the Cramps "I Can't Find My Mind", while the Dwarves and the Briefs sent their versions of punk classics by the Weirdos and the Zeros.

We also got some nice surprises with the teaming up of Captain Sensible (The Damned) and the late Nikki Sudden for an acoustic cover of Iggy's "Kill City", Chris Wilson of the Flamin' Groovies joined the Barracudas to capture Rocky Erickson's "Two Headed Dog," and a Cleveland super group of sorts tabbed The Dukes Of Earls was formed with ex-members of the Dead Boys and the Stiv Bators' band.

Also included is an amazing rendition of Rockin' Horse's classic "Don't You Ever Think I Cry" by Buffalo Killers (currently on tour with the Black Crowes), a cover of Spacemen 3 by The Warlocks, and much more. The Last even dug up for the occasion their previously unreleased rendering of Jonathan Richman's "Pablo Picasso" recorded back in 1977. COLOGNE CURIOSITIES-THE UNKNOWN KRAUTROCK UNDERGROUND 1972-1976' - DBL Label:MENTAL EXPERIENCE Cologne Curiosities' collects, for the first time on vinyl, all the otherwise unpublished/un-reissued material that originally appeared on the three 'Unknown Deutschland - The Krautrock Archive' CD's, released by Virgin in 1996. These recordings date from 1972-1976 and were made at studios in Cologne and surroundings. The material was produced by Toby Robinson, mainly to have fun at the studio. Bands would come in for practice sessions, to record demos, and during slack periods impromptu jams would happen. Most of these sessions were recorded by Toby, and they feature Toby himself plus a revolving cast of friends and musicians (some of them apparently big Kraut names using made up monikers). SHARPIES-14 AGGRO AUSSIE ANTHEMS FROM 1972-1979'Label:SHARPS ROCK Sharpies were the terror teen cast of a Richard Allen novel that never was. Although largely synonymous with the early-to-mid 1970s, reports of their violent clashes with rival gangs of Mods are documented as early as 1966. Bored, working-class, suburban kids, their teenage rampage began in Melbourne, Australia, but soon there were Sharpie gangs forming in Sydney, Perth and beyond. For a while they were the untouchables, ruling dances, discos and public transport with their fists. Sharpies were fiercely territorial and divided into different chapters according to location. They would often wage aggressive wars within their tightly delineated sub-gangs, although Mods always remained their arch-enemy. Sharpie boys and girls wore similar uniforms: a slim-fitting, ribbed and collared cardigan called a Conny, T-shirts, tight jeans (Lee or Levis) and big platform shoes. Hair was worn short or shaved with long wisps at the back, influenced by the British ska, mod and skinhead subcultures. Sharpie girls had their hair slightly longer and often with coloured streaks - Bowie-red was their colour of choice. Boys often bleached their hair. Tattoos were popular, although many were homemade and poorly executed. Their diet was anthemic glam-rock, kung-fu movies and A Clockwork Orange. As the 1970s drew to a close, and new styles like punk and disco began to emerge, Sharpies started to fade. By 1979 they were all-but gone. Today they are recognised as an important part of Australian youth culture and social history. This compilation features rare tracks and 'cult' anthems that were the soundtrack to the rise of this Australian answer to the skinhead subculture: with the likes of the Hush, Fat Daddy, Supernaut, Skyhooks, John Paul Young... it can't be missing in any 'Killed By Death' type collection! BLISS-ST (Excellent 1969 PSYCH HARD ROCK )- Label:OUT SIDER Psychedelic hard-rock / heavy blues with loud fuzz-wah guitar and powerful drumming by this power-trio from Arizona, originally released in 1969.

Bliss was born from the ashes of garage band The Sect. Legendary radio DJ and producer Hadley “Who Loves You Madley” (the first black disc jockey from Arizona) took them under his wing and produced some recordings. By the end of 1968, the five members of The Sect graduated and decided to break up.

Soon, they reformed as a trio with Martin (bass), Reed (guitar) and Aldred (drums). Reed came up with a new name, BLISS, which not only reflected his spiritual interest but it was also more in vein with the new psychedelic sounds of artists like Cream, Blue Cheer or Hendrix.

Under Murrell’s guidance, the trio recorded a full album, released on L.A.-based Canyon Records in 1969. Canyon, home to artists like Doris Duke or Swamp Dogg, was a label more focused on R&B, soul and funk than psychedelia so, not surprisingly, the album slipped through the cracks.

It wasn’t until a couple of decades later that Bliss was re-discovered by psych collectors, who were attracted to the album’s heavy & bluesy psychedelic sound, highlighted by Reed's hard fuzz-wah guitarand Aldred's powerful drumming. The album offers a mix of great self-penned tracks (including two by Murrell) such as “Visions”, “Ride The Ship Of Fools” and “Cry Of Love” – which bears a striking resemblance to The Zombies “Time Of The Season”! – plus a few covers (Joe Tex, B.B. King, Johnny Guitar Watson…)

CONJERTI, MORREALE & DIBLEY"-Earth Free (1970’s IYL Neil Young,CSNY-Label:VOID An album that has the unfinished feel of a demo record (which is good), a bit like Merrell Fankhauser's “Fapardokly” LP from 5 years earlier—except the main influence here is early Neil Young. The main appeal to present-day listeners will be the minor key acoustic guitar strumming that makes it a folk record, and the minimal but effective lead guitar that fleshes out the songs and gives them an unusual edge. The lyrics wont appeal to modern-day cynics, but the youthful, melancholic delivery gives them a depth beyond the misleading, easy-listening label assigned to this reissue. The title track is a simple but effective paean to natural beauty that closes the record in a satisfying manner. Comparable records in terms of feel would include the likes of Fenner, Leland & O'Brien, Dave Lamb & Gye Whiz, Songs of David Lewis, etc - if any of those appeal, then this record will also. Sound is typical for the style, rooted in a melodic CSNY sensibility, recalling Stills' melancholic moves in particular. I also catch an Eastcoasty "Big Pink" vibe here and there.
