BONGZILLA- DAB CITY (an ode to the purest form of THC) PURPLE Label:HEAVY PSYCH SOUNDS 'Dab City' is an ode to the purest form of THC and our beloved hometown of Madison Wisconsin, which is known as Mad City. A political and social hot bed and lightning rod for our state and the Midwest since the 1960's, Madison is also home to a large University with one of the best agronomy departments in the country and not surprisingly the focal point for some of the finest cannabis our country has to offer (Muleboy has not seen pot with seeds in it since arriving in 1993!). Although not legal, possession is basically ignored and punished with a nominal $1 fine for under 128 grams. For the recording of 'Dab City' we procured 10 g plus of the finest concentrates we could lay our hands on and somewhere north of 120 g of cannabis flower. And recorded it on 2" analog tape over two sessions at Future Apple Tree Studio in Rock Island, Illinois. The Fall 2022 session is known as the Harvest Sessions and the February of 2023 session is known as the Propagation Sessions. The record is our second as a three piece and our second full length release for our label Heavy Psych Sounds and continues our journey into ultra stoned sludgey psychedelia. 'Dab City' is 100% recorded on tape, and is composed by 7 songs with a running time of almost 60 minutes of brand new stoned sludge heavy doomy riffs." Black vinyl version. LP $30 SKU:26266

SOHO ORANGE - KINGS OF THE ROAD (70s searing hard rock Zep style proto metal) Label:SEELIE COURT Searing hard rock that combines the savagery of early Budgie with the mystical edge of Led Zeppelin, this Scottish band is an important addition to the roster of early proto metal bands. Taken from original 1971 master tapes, this LP ranks with the best of early seventies UK hard rock. Six long tracks that decimate many established proto metal albums, this restores track title and session order that were mangled on a well intentioned German bootleg decades ago. LP $34 SKU:26285

GARDENS - ST Raised on a diet of Terrence Mckenna,The Beatles, Syd Barrett, Nirvana, and Turkish psych style , - GREEN VINYLLabel:ALIVE Flashes of off-kilter inspiration, piano-organ blues and quirky a cappella lend an artsy flourish to Gardens’ primal rock ‘n’ roll base. GLADSTONE - From Down Home in Tyler, Texas U.S.A.-Rural flavored rock from 1972(sealed original, with drill hole)Label:ABC Rural flavored rock, and country rock sleeper from 1972, featuring good vocal harmony reminiscent of CS&N, or Batdorf and Rodney. Has a nice rustic, very listenable vibe throughout without really containing any outstanding tracks. The second side is the stronger, with the first track 'Peace in the Valley' perhaps the best on the album. The last track, ‘Dalarna’ is also strong, kicking in with some heavier rock midway through the track. LP $10 SKU:25535

GOOD MISSIONARIES-Pylons (long lost 80s post punk classic) SAALE!Label:LION /COLOR TAPES Limited edition of 500 copies . Includes poster insert with archive band photos and slee• The hipness and success of London punk-explosion photocopy fanzine Sniffin’ Glue was almost entirely due to the irreverent, pugnacious sincerity of its founder/spark-plug Mark Perry. That Perry should form a band (Alternative TV) seemed a natural progression; that it was any good at all a surprise; that it maintained a stance utterly disdainful of compromise a small miracle.”The Good Missionaries emerged, phoenix-like, from the ashes of Alternative TV (ATV). They released one live album “Fire From Heaven,” before ATV founder Mark Perry left. Ex-ATV guitarist/vocalist Dave George and bassist Keith Rodway continued the band, with several line-up changes during those days. The Good Missionaries toured and gigged with such bands as The Fall, The Pop Group, Crass, Scritti Politti, Delta Five, Poison Girls, Nik Turner’s Inner City Unit and The Transmitters. Which in retrospect makes sense, as their post-punk/dub/experimental inclinations dovetails perfectly with the music those more storied bands (more successful bands) were making at the time. The Good Missionaries released several singles on their own Unnormality label, before splitting in 1982. LP $18 SKU:25096

HELLMET -Judgement Day (1970 doom-laden metal psych masterpiece)Label:SEELIE COURT Thought to be lost forever, Hellmet's legendary 1970 LP is the proto-metal find of the century. Long rumoured to exist amongst hardcore prog collectors, it used to be considered as the missing VO5 Vertigo cata!ogue number. In 1970, two acetates were cut at Oak studios (a 12” and a 7”) and then promptly lost, and those who knew of its rumoured existence decided it was mere myth or permanently lost or destroyed. But in 2021, this doom-laden metal psych masterpiece finally emerges from the Stygian depths of prog legend. Hellmet's sole lp is the ultimate incarnation of Leviathan and the Mike Stuart Span, and on this record, they hit a peak — almost like a raw undergound Led Zep 1 with elements of Cream. Hellmet's sound is characterised by a howling lead guitar tonally similar to High Tide but played in a heavy blues psych style; at times Steve Day appears to be wrestling a demonically possessed lead into submission. Three tracks are classic heavy prog proto-metal, then ‘Trust' gets into 'Dazed and Confused’ territory with its violent tale of resisting torture under the Inquisition; the dark epic 'Judgement Day' closes side one, a tale of heroin addiction and facing one's maker in an inevitable slide towards alienation and death. The song has astonishingly ornate and complex almost baroque guitar playing, with exquisite and beautiful passages, and treads a mournful path with an atmosphere akin to ‘Nothing Else Matters’ by Metallica. The LP benefits from repeat playing: it is heavy, but also deep, and has a vibe that combines anger with melancholia. A significant and historic find, if you ache for more true vintage Heavy Prog. LP $31 SKU:24683

HEROINAS- HOCUS POCUS (late 70s Velvets stye)Label:FAMILY SPREE Heroínas has been described as a tribute to The Velvet Underground and the New York rock'n'roll scene of the late '70s. HOLLINS & STARR-Sidewalks Talking (Acid ARchives fave!) Label:LION An album sure to appeal to fans of acid folk, popsike, and even those who like jazzy funk. A trace or two of Arthur Lee and Love at their best (‘Krishna Dov’ would not sound out of place on “Forever Changes,” for example), with dashes of maybe Terry Callier in some of the jazzier tunes.“Unique blend… with a lovely dreaming, drifting vibe” – the Acid Archives;“Many diverse influences from pop-psych, mystical mellow passages, quasi-classical touches, delightful ethereal flute, trance-like vocals and fuzz guitar… there is much to appreciate on this largely undiscovered gem” – Fuzz, Acid & Flowers. LP $15 SKU:25097

HONEST JOHN - SAILOR (Unreleased underground Texas hard rock from 1975)-Label:SHROOMANGEL (USA) Unreleased underground Texas hard rock from 1975! First release anywhere, anytime! Heavy grooves with dense, layered guitars and Deep Purple/Black Sabbath style vocals from bassist T.J. Sanders. Honest John was a band that meant business at a time when most bands were softening their sound for radio. Not these guys! Honest John did release an extremely rare 7" on the Baron label (BRN45006): slinky track 'Brighter Day' b/w the chunky and hard driving 'Face the Crowd'); but that was all that ever emerged from the sessions until now. It was in fact all the world knew of Honest John, aside from folks blown away by hearing them on tour in Texas playing frat parties, bars, military bases, and sleazy rock clubs in the early 1970's. Honest John's "Sailor" is a living, breathing tribute to Ottis Coleman, who should have long ago been celebrated as a true Texas guitar great. Features Coleman's stellar guitar and engineered by future Mojave Audio honcho and key figure in 1970's rock in Houston, Dusty Wakeman. Coleman and Wakeman both later joined Houston blues rockers Buzz Bone, which featured Dan Mitchell and Tom Moore post-Moving Sidewalks. But it has always been the Honest John sessions that they longed to have released., at long long last. A small press run of 500x copies, housed in a deluxe gatefold tip-on jacket, sourced from original master tapes. A definitive statement of heaviness. •Underground Texas hard rock from 1975 •First release anywhere, anytime! •Sourced from original master tapes •Small press run of 500x copies, housed in a deluxe gatefold tip-on jacket. a link to an mp3 sampler, which has a little taste of every track on the record: LP $22 SKU:19272

HOPKINS,RICH& the Luminarios - Enchanted Rock country covers by the Gosdin Brothers and Patty Smith & a new original song that sounds very Raspberry–esque-)Label:SAN JACINTO Enchanted Rock was recorded live at Halversonics Studio in Austin, Texas in two days and mixed in one day. What makes this album different is there is a mix of country covers by the Gosdin Brothers and Patty Smith to a new original song that sounds very Raspberry-esque (Nobody Told You) to acoustic renditions of some of Hopkins' older songs like Paraguay and Dark Side of the Spoon. This album captures the band in a new light. The CD version of this release contains two additional tracks LP $19 SKU:25326

JAHN, LOTHAR -Dreams of 75 (1975 psych/Krautrock) hand numbered blue swirl SAALE! Label:LION Lothar Jahn’s "February '75” single was released by the German label Sound Records in 1977. It was a very unusual record, somewhere between psychedelic, folk, and Krautrock. It was reviewed thus on Discogs: “A mysterious journey through Cosmic Psych Folk Kraut, whatever you may call it. Fantastic, from beginning to end. Another Kraut on 45 milestone.” The newly recorded album, “Dreams of ’75,” is an extended riff on the original single, taking that smaller vision as a starting point and then launching into a weirder and wilder psychedelic/progressive stereoscopic headspace than was evident (or possible) on the original single. Lion exclusive: 150x hand-numbered copies on Transparent Blue w/Black Swirl vinyl
•Comes with an 8-page booklet giving Jahn’s thoughts on his life and the dreams which provoked this album.

HORDE - Press Button Firmly (mid sixties rare garage w 4 bonus tracks -Label:BREAK-A-WAY Rarest 60s garage album by North Carolina students from early 1967. Painstakingly remastered at KSL. Undoubtedly the most exciting mid sixties garage album to be recently discovered in the genre, is that by The Horde from North Carolina. The existence of this self produced album came to collectors ears and eyes only about a year ago. It was recorded more or less accidently in early 1967, released in a micro quantity of only 25 copies and among the local US garage albums of the decade it is one of the few eclectic examples with all the ingredients that makes it outstanding compared with the usual prep-school albums of the time. It contains a blend of exciting originals and well chosen, inspired covers, played in a raw, crude and frantic style. If ever it were true that the over-used assertion that a band's cover versions measured up to the originals, then it is true of The Horde. Why? These five 19-20 year old students from all over the United States did not only blaze a trail for 60s rock in then conservative North Carolina, they also had a general attitude that finds its origins in the young peoples mindset of the mid-sixties that put them outside of the local mainstream and gained them a sort of regional underground popularity. CD has 4 bonus tracks. CD $12 SKU:15346

MUNSON ,ALAN -First light (70s Calif laid back psych) Label:GUERSSEN And here’s the last of the 70’s works by our friend Munson! This one got released in 1979, again in small quantities, on the Parallax label in California. The “First light” album doesn’t easily fit into a music category box. The songs range from psych rock, to some fairly laid back folk-rock, and even a song with a country rock feel. Instruments played on the record include electric and acoustic guitars, electric bass and drums. Lead solos are all played on electric guitar; a clean sound on the acoustic based songs and guitar effects were used on the psych rock songs. Strong lead vocals and background harmony vocals, making this another excellent album as a result. Also one unreleased bonus track is added, all remastered from the original tapes. First time ever reissue as well; comes with a booklet, and outer carton slimcase CD $10 SKU:20126

BEAT FROM BADSVILLE, VOL. 4-EVEN MORE TRASH CLASSICS FROM LUX & IVY'S VINYL MOUNTAIN-Label:STAG O LEE This 24-track collection positively effervesces with eccentricity. Again it is divided into 4 themes: 'The Rock'n'Rollers', 'New Dance Trend', 'Instrumentals' and 'The Mad Daddies'. Every track pirouettes dangerously and at times hap hazardly around the expected. These are songs for strange times by what can definitely be considered strange people. Gems and nuggets that sparkle even more bright in today's manufactured music maelstrom. COMP CD $14 SKU:26185

The truly whacked out Al Casy & The Bats: 'Adventures Of Frank N. Stein' from 1958 is a classic case of what happens when the lunatics take over the asylum. Larry & The Bluenotes: 'Night Of The Sadist.' The ultra sick Terry Corin and her Boyfriends, never appreciated in her days, but boy do we! KALEIDOSCOPE-Faintly Blowing (60s Brit psych Label:MAGIC BOX Originally issued in 1969, comes in replica gatefold sleeve. For their second album, Kaleidoscope delivered something an awful lot like their debut, a body of pleasant, trippy, spacy raga-rock, with the main difference that they pushed the wattage a little harder on their instruments -- they'd also been performing pretty extensively by the time of their second long-player, and a lot of the music here was material that they'd worked out on-stage in very solid versions. The result is a record just as pretty as their debut but a little punchier and more exciting within each song than their first album. The title track is also one of the more beautiful psychedelic effects pieces of its period, while 'A Story From Tom Bitz' is crunchy folk-rock, '(Love Song) For Annie' represents a more lyrical brand of druggy folk-rock, and 'If You So Wish' shifts over to Moody Blues-style ballad territory circa late 1968 and early 1969. LP $32 SKU:25855

LIFEBLUD - BE THOU MY VERY ARMOUR (RARE 70s folk prog )Label:SEELIE COURT Masterful studio recordings by this accomplished '70s prog-folk band purveying poetismic underground sounds, and includes the only surviving track from their heavy guitar folk phase 'Man Of War'. LP $34 SKU:26287

ORPHAN EGG-ST (1969 GARAGE PSYCH) Label:COSMIC ROCK Orphan Egg were a short lived group who were formed in 1967 in San Jose California. Their sole self-titled album was released in 1968 on the small independent company Carole Records. Essentially a garage-psych album - in the tradition of future iconic compilations like 'Nuggets' or 'Pebbles' - Orphan Egg was recorded by a bunch of students at Saratoga High School in Saratoga. Occasionally they won the Vox Battle of the Bands, a nationwide competition. They also appeared on the soundtrack of the classic bike-movie 'Cycle Savages' with 3 track LP $34 SKU:25966
