NEW ON ALIVE

T MODEL FORD-I Was Born In A Swamp-Label:ALIVE LIMITED ed of 200 CLEAR RED VINYL. The Best Of the Alive sessions. Featuring members of GravelRoad, Outrageous Cherry, Moreland & Arbuckle, and Soledad Brothers. "With a little help from his friends, T-Model Ford has once again walked into the studio and bettered himself." – Alan Brown / POPMATTERS "A far more interesting recording because of its "impurities" -- paradoxically, making it a far more "authentic" blues record because it is linked to multiple historic traditions simultaneously. It’s exponentially more enjoyable and exciting as blues than anything coming out of Chicago in the 21st century." – Thom Jurek / ALL MUSIC LP $25 SKU:24615

NERVES One Way Ticket - PURPLE VINYL (70S POWERPOP LEGENDS!) Label:ALIVE Formed in 1975 by guitarist JACK LEE, bassist PETER CASE, and drummer PAUL COLLINS, the Nerves are one of the most influential garage/punk pop outfits to come out of the mid-70's LA scene, and certainly one of the least documented... until now. Mostly remembered for their classic "Hanging On The Telephone," a Jack Lee composition which has been covered over the years by a myriad of artists from BLONDIE to L7 to CAT POWER, the Nerves were above all a high energy rock'n'roll band with all three members composing and singing. Playing fast, ear-catching garage pop songs, sometimes wearing matching suits, the trio had more than a bit of the stripped down street energy of the Los Angeles's early punk movement. They shared the stage with the Ramones and Mink Deville during their infamous US "Magical Blistering Tour," played the Punk Palace and the legendary Masque in Hollywood, and headlined shows with the Avengers, the Zeros, The Dils, The Screamers and Shock, to name just a few. After the band's break-up in 1978, Peter Case and Paul Collins formed The BREAKAWAYS, and later went on to front the legendary PLIMSOULS and The BEAT, respectively. Following the success of "Hanging On the Telephone," JACK LEE has mostly focused on his songwriting career, releasing an album in 1981. Both Peter and Paul are still recording and touring. PETER CASE's latest album "Let Us Now Praise Sleepy John" (Yeproc 2007) was nominated for a Grammy. This collection, authorized for the first time ever by the three band members, features their 1976 EP (now regarded as a power pop classic), as well as demos and previously unreleased live recordings, REMASTERED and complete with notes and photos. NEW ARRIVALS

ANDWELLA'S DREAM - LOVE AND POETRY (1969 freakbeat/psych)Label:ABSINTHE Reissue of an essential British freakbeat/psych album, originally released in 1969. LP $25 SKU:24539

ANT TRIP CEREMONY - 24 Hours w inner sleeve. (Superb Psych US 1968 ) Label:VINYL LOVERS 180 gram LP + printed innersleeve. A fleeting moment of inspired folk rock/psychedelia, recorded at Oberlin College in 1968 by four college students and one local teen. The band was the brainchild of student and guitarist Steve DeTray who had just returned to school after a brief hiatus in Utah, where he was undoubtedly inspired by the whole West Coast psychedelic rock scene. Upon returning to Oberlin DeTray recruited some friends who had already been playing together in a blues band. After a year spent playing a mix of covers and original material, mostly at on campus and off-campus parties, the boys decide to commit their moment in history to vinyl, recording "24 Hours" in two sessions with the help of fellow student David Crosby (not of CSN&Y fame, as is sometimes claimed). The original pressing was just 300 copies that were then sold mainly to friends and local fans, and soon became one of those rare collectibles from which several low-quality bootlegs were made. This album has been digitally remastered and features the original sleeve art. LP $24 SKU:24512

KRYNG-GOING NOWHERE(garage punk/power pop)Label:TEEN SOUND With a mix of garage-punk, echoes of Nederbeat and power pop these three Dutch guys deliver an instant underground garage classic. The songs are firmly rooted in '60s garage-rock, but you may also discover distant echoes of late '70s punk rock and '90s grunge. Limited to 300 copies, so order fast! LP $28 SKU:24535

LP $25 SKU:24546

PLEBB -Yes It Isn’t It (1979 psych proto metal)Label:SOMMOR Originally released in 1979 in an edition of 485 copies, a rare Swedish private press hardrock LP with psychedelic ingredients sees its first ever reissue on vinyl. STONE HOUSE ON FIRE -NEVERENDING CYCLE(Late 60s style desert sounds & lysergic vibes).(BLACK)Label:ELECTRIC VALLEY Stone House On Fire is influenced by desert sounds and the lysergic vibes of the late '60s. RESTOCKS

ABSTRACTS - Hey Let’s Go Now (60s Brit invasion style) Label:BREAKAWAY The Abstracts from Long Island, N.Y. are best known for their classic song 'Always Always'. As one of the first US bands to create an American answer to the British Invasion, their songs were already written and a master plan already in the works when the Beatles started their meteoric rise in the US. But like many of the first wave UK beat bands, The Abstracts were together only for a little more than two years and split when rock and roll moved into a direction that wasn't theirs. Though during this short period, with their storming and ingenuous beat, they recruited a huge following and accomplished a great deal. They were one of the first bands to utilize a light show and besides their sole 45, their legacy contains a cache of unreleased period recordings, some of them made for Columbia Records in 1964. Finally, over four decades later, this album collects the bands entire studio material alongside two excellent sounding 1966 live tracks. An in-depth insert with a wealth of never-before-seen-photos traces the history of the band that brought "Abstractmania" to the New York area in the sixties CD $14 SKU:24265

NEW CHRISTS-THESE RAGS:PEDESTRAL/WOE BETIDE Label:CITADEL Always lo-fi in the production department, the Pedestal EP and Woe Betide mini-album releases have finally been remixed and given a new spartan packaging to celebrate the occasion. This is as good as it gets and it's pretty good. This 2002 compilation features 2 of their finest moments, the 'Pedestal' EP and the 'Woe Betide' EP, which are long deleted. CD $17 SKU:24388

QUICKSILVER MESSENGER SERVICE -Live at the Carousel Ballroom April 4 1968 DBL CDLabel:BEAR Part of a series of live recordings unearthed after 40 years, this album is said to present an appearance by Quicksilver Messenger Service at the Carousel Ballroom in San Francisco on April 4, 1968, a month before the release of the group's self-titled debut album.. CD $10 SKU:21599

VICIOUS VISIONS - RETRODISRESPECT 1980-83 (holy grail in punk rock collector circles,)Label:BUSY BEE Vicious Visions' single 'I Beat You' is a holy grail in punkrock collector circles, not just because of its limited run of only 109 copies but also because it is a MONSTER of a hit. Formed in Halmstad, Vicious Visions soon moved to Berlin and honed their craft in squats in the shadow of the iron wall. They may come from the same little town as Roxette but they sound more Berlin than Halmstad. Where the single was musically defined by the fact that the band at that time didn't have a drummer so they were forced to use a drum machine. 'Retrodisrespective' can broaden the perception of
Vicious Visions as it includes both full band recordings as well as ones by the original core duo behind 'I Beat You'. You'll get to enjoy everything from chaotic punk anthems to minimal Suicide-like no wave. CD $19 SKU:24349

STRANGE CREATURES -The Best of REbels Vol TWO- 15 ear Bashing Greats (PEBBLES/ NUGGETS STYLE) SAALE!Label:RAVING POP BLAST! Inspired by the 1980s collection 'Pebbles' which collected together '60s garage punk bands, most of whom would have vanished without trace if not for 'Pebbles' unearthing them and turning them into essential 'must haves', for lovers of raw, often cheaply recorded, guitar based music. 'Rebels' brings together like minded bands/artists from all over the world, who are doing it for love, with no glancing towards what's popular, or what the current musical fashions dictate. So here we have 16 bands, all different but all with a burning desire to play their own kind of rock and roll. From the garage '60s vibe of Leeds based The See No Evils, the wah-wah grooves of The DC Spectres and from Belgium, Thee Martian Boyfriends and Vice Barons to the Joe Meek style twangs of Diamond Daddios and the mod-flavour of (ex-Prisoners) Galileo 7, (ex-Makin' Time) The Deep Six and The Hurricanes (who bring back memories of The Purple Hearts). Bristol's very own Joe James & His Pariahs, conjure up an authentic mid '60s freakbeat sound, while also from Bristol, Rauschenberg get all space-out. The Jack Cades offer up their 'reverb on 10' take on The Byrds jangle sound, and two young 14 year olds from Devon -The Lysping Mynor Byrds- mash up a surf classic with a Clash solo! And lucky for us someone pressed record on the cassette recorder! The self declared 'Best Live Band In Britain', London Based The Fallen Leaves (with drummer Brett Ascott formally of The Chords) tell us the tale of the 'Motorcycle Girl' in an exclusive live recording. Meanwhile Coventry's Sawdust Caesars have been dragged back from the grave screaming with their lo-fi-acid-pop-psych, and the don't move or you'll miss it 'Flower Pop Show'. While from up in Scotland we have the most wonderful The Nettelles who mix their garage punk with a kind of lo-fi-C86 rumble and back down to Taunton where you'll possibly bump into Palooka 5, as they'll most likely be wearing camouflage gear! Play this loud, and often! COMP LP $25 SKU:24453

FLOWER TRAVELLIN' BAND -SATORI (Japanese 1971 heavy rock)Label:LIFE GOES ON Can you pick up a better iconic band than the Japanese Flower Travellin' Band? Have a look at Julian Cope's 'Japrocksampler' cover with the band bare naked wildly ridin' on their wheels. Is any description more appropriate? A sense of freedom has always enhanced their music, a heavy rock manifesto clearly informed by British stalwarts. Their second album 'Satori' has been released on Atlantic Japan in 1971 and still is a masterpiece on its own. The band was made up of Joe Yamanaka (vocals) - possibly an eastern version of Rob Tyner (MC5) - Hideki Ishima (guitars), Jun Kobayashi (bass) and George Wada (drums). By the end of 1970, they had relocated to Toronto, Canada and lived there until March of 1972. In April 1973, the band split up, but they reunited in January 2008 with all original members joined by Nobuhiko. LP $25 SKU:24341
