It Is Forbidden, released by Total Energy, documents Sun Ra's 1974 performance at the Ann Arbor Blues & Jazz Festival in Exile. The festival was moved to Windsor, Ontario, Canada, due to issues with the festival's funding and management.

This release includes the track titled "It Is Forbidden," featuring Sun Ra chanting the phrase, "It is forbidden, strictly forbidden, to cut down the tree of the knowledge of good and evil". This track was considered to be a previously unreleased performance at the time of the album's release.

While the festival itself faced logistical and financial challenges, Sun Ra and His Intergalactic Arkestra delivered a strong performance, showcasing their unique blend of intergalactic cosmology and experimental jazz.
