NEW ARRIVALS

AINTS -THE AINTS!PLAY THE SAINTS(73-78)-Label:FATAL On the 40th anniversary of the release of The Saints' groundbreaking '(I'm) Stranded' album, guitarist, songwriter and founding member Ed Kuepper took to the stage performing the material he had written for that seminal band across their first three albums '(I'm) Stranded' (1977), 'Eternally Yours' (1978), and 'Prehistoric Sounds' (1978). Joined by like-minded souls, bassist Peter Oxley (Sunnyboys), drummer Paul Larson (The Celibate Rifles) plus keyboard player Alister Spence and a guest brass section, 'The Aints! Play The Saints' captures that energy of the original band delivering on a promise made 40 years ago and not heard since. Tracks include the incendiary '(I'm) Stranded', everybody's favourite 'Know Your Product', the blistering cover of Ike & Tina Turner's 'River Deep Mountain High', the epic 'Nights In Venice' plus 'This Perfect Day', 'Messin' With The Kid' and more. Released on the Fatal label, home to The Saints' original '(I'm) Stranded 7" in September 1976. CD $14 SKU:21391

BLACK SPIRIT -ST( 69-78 Black Sabbath style) -Label:OHRWASCHL The album is mainly a hard rock affair in Black Sabbath style, sung in English, with some rock-blues influences—very far from the typical Italian sound. According to the sleeve-notes, the tracks had been recorded between 1969 and 1978. The style is heavy progressive, with some Cream, Man, and Quicksilver influences, with plenty of choice moments. all the members of this band were of Italian origin working in Germany, and it was in that nation that their super rare first and only album was released by the small and collectible Brutkasten label. CD $14 SKU:21428

DIES IRAE -First(sole release from heavy prog band 1971) Label:OHRWASCHL Sole effort from heavy progressive group who recorded their album 'First' (1971) for the Pilz before the label fell into the hands of Rolf-Ulrich Kaiser; the album owes much to the heavy blues sound and occult nature of Black Sabbath's classic debut album. Song titles such as 'Lucifer', 'Harmagedon Dragonlove', and 'Witches Meeting' give an indication of the groups interests. The standout track for Krautrock fans is sure to be the seven-minute freak out 'Trip', a spacey track which begins with an outstanding electronic collage that gives way to a peaceful free flowing jam with acid-drenched celestial vocals. As for the rest of the album, 'Lucifer' contains ultra aggressive guitar and harmonica riff slightly reminiscent of Sabbath’s 'The Wizard'; 'Witches Meeting' is an extended track with numerous musical sections, and contains a rocking guitar solo and a furious ending. Engineered by the “third member of Neu!”, Conny Plank. CD $14 SKU:21430

GORILLA -TREECREEPER(Stoner heavy psych)-Label:HEAVY PSYCH SOUNDS (ITALY) Treecreeper' is the first full length album by Gorilla since 2007's 'Rock Our Souls'. Preserving the classic Gorilla chest beatin', full throttle sound, 'Treecreeper's 9 slices of mind bending, shit storm rock combine elements of stoner, high energy, doom and heavy psych rock honed to razor sharp fuzz-toned perfection. Recorded in good old fashioned analogue at Mole's awesome North Downs Studio, Gorilla create a non stop, white knuckle, maximum riffin' hell ride that will break your ears and loosen your rears! As one review of a recent show stated "Gorilla sound like Blue Cheer, Motörhead and St. Vitus all playing in the same room at the same time"! Gorilla are back to fuzz up your screams and rupture ya spleen in 2019!! CD $14 SKU:21363

IHRE KINDER-ST(early 70s German psych legends)Label:OHRWASCHL 1st time on CD the very first album by german legends IHRE KINDER this is the debut album originally released in 1969 on the Philips label. CD $14 SKU:21441

KALEIDOBOLT -Bitter (heavy power trio rock'n'roll psych-Label:SVART With one foot in classic heavy power trio rock'n'roll and the other knee deep in psychedelic frenzy, Finland's Kaleidobolt blast off into innerspace with their third album 'Bitter'. Produced by Niko Lehdontie (Kairon; IRSE!, Oranssi Pazuzu) and mixed by Lauri Eloranta, 'Bitter' is poisonous sonic cotton candy. CD $17 SKU:21425

NEKROPOLIS-The Awakening, Live ‘79 (KRaut doomers 1979) -Label:OHRWASCHL Kraut doomers live. “Archival release of eight longish tracks recorded in 1979 in Munich. Peter Frohmader is accompanied by a fairly large group of musicians and plays the various treated bass guitars. This has a very krautrock and band feel, much more than his latter studio albums. Some freak-out moments as well as spooky textured chunks. If you are interested in latter day Krautrock transforming into experimental industrial music, get this record.” “Peter Frohmader is one of most interesting and extraordinary persons of our time. Composer, multi-instrumentalist musician, he is one of key figures in modern musical culture. Frohmader is an experimenter-workaholic, the author of solo projects and numerous collaborations with Richard Pinhas, Michael Fuchs-Gambock, Andreas Merz, Iva Bittova, Chris Karrer, Kanaan and Russian composer Artemiy Artemiev. His musical career started in the beginning of 70’s when he began playing with such collectives as Alpha Centauri (avant-garde music), Electronic Delusion (electronic experimental music), Kanaan (jazz-rock/electronic music). In 1979 Peter Frohmader launched his own projects: CIA (hard-rock music) and Nekropolis (experimental music). His debut album "Musik Aus Dem Schattenreich" ("Music from the Darkness") was an extraordinary work that combined the aesthetic of rock music and sound experiments. Its sound was akin to the early Cluster releases; Nekropolis underwent various changes in the group, but Frohmader always remained the permanent leader of the project.” CD $16 SKU:21432

NOSFERATU -ST (early psych Krautrock 1970)-Label:OHRWASCHL Early Krautrock album (1970) with a heavy and raw sound alleviated by well-chosen psychedelic elements, with the benefit of being engineered by the legendary Konrad Plank; a few tracks offer up some trippy grooves, but the group tends to lean towards an Anglo-American approach, with prominent flute and sax, and English vocals; in spite of this obvious Anglo influence, the group manages to create a unique sound. This can be attributed to the creation of unusual riffs and rhythms, as well as the sax and flute versus organ ratio; an impossibly rare album first released on the Vogue label, and now one of the most sought after Krautrock records; the famously sinister cover captures the darkness of the music. CD $15 SKU:21433

SAHARA -Sunrise (Pink Floyd style 1974) Label:OHRWASCHL ., a winding excursion that ranges from Camel to The Cosmic Jokers, from Pink Floyd to Pulsar—you get the idea. It's a cosmic fan's nirvana. n 1974, Subject Esq. changed their name to Sahara to get out of a contract with CBS. They were wise enough to add keyboardist Hennes Hering from Out Of Focus, and a full-time lead guitarist. With this new proliferation of multi-instrumentalists, a mass of keyboards, and various wind instruments, it is no surprise that the album SUNRISE should be quite special. Two tracks develop the Subject Esq. sound on a more progressive and classical rock front (they sandwich a duff country number, that's best forgotten). That’s all well and good. But the 27-minute ‘Sunrise’ suite is extraordinary CD $16 SKU:21436

SUBJECT ESQ.- LOST TAPES (1972 fusion prog rock) Label:Ohrwaschl digipack reissue of the only release (Epic, 1972) by Subject Esq. before they changed their name to Sahara; complex progressive rock with fusion elements, showing classical influences, and demonstrating superb musicianship throughout. Comparable to many other bands of the era, like Thirsty Moon, Camel, etc.—in fact, they have a similar degree of complexity and inventiveness (multi-tracked sax and guitars, and so on) to many bands from the Canterbury scene. Subject Esq. had unique touches of their own, with an unusual use of vocals, time signatures, and a wide range of solo instruments, all of which are given plenty of room in the lengthy instrumental sections. An odd major label album, so perhaps it’s no surprise that they left CBS to record their more esoteric Sahara albums.

APHRODITE'S CHILD-End of the World (1968 Greek pop psych)-Label:MISSING VINYL A beautiful and strange album—dream-like, baroque, carefully crafted pop/psych; very much in the style of English bands of the era; the album contained an equal amount of psychedelic pop songs and ballads in the vein of Procol Harum or The Moody Blues, but all with that little twist that makes it all even more interesting and worthwhile. GRUPO AMIGOS- Paloma mensajera(1973 Pervian psych) - Label:GUERSSEN “Originally released as a demo pressing in 1973, this album by Peruvian band Grupo Amigos is without doubt one of the rarest albums from the South American psych scene. Only a handful of copies were pressed for the band members and needless to say, an original copy is impossible to find. The band was formed by some long-time friends of Saúl and Manuel Cornejo of legendary Peruvian bands Laghonia and We All Together. Manuel Cornejo played drums on the album recordings and Saúl was the session engineer. Influenced by groups like the Beatles, Byrds, Stones, Badfinger, Shakers and of course Laghonia and We All Together, the music ranges from terrific guitar psych-rock like 'Dirty Girl' (which sounds like an outtake from Laghonia's first album) to British sounding pop-psych ('Mr. Taylor's Train,' ‘Psychiatrist’), harmony pop á la Byrds on 'Looking for home,’ a few rocking tunes and some beautiful mid-tempo numbers which show their We All Together influence. On this Guerssen reissue, you'll find the complete recordings of Grupo Amigos, including their only album and a killer non-LP 45 recorded the same year. Features an insert with liner notes and rare pictures. Taken from the original master tapes, and limited to 500 copies only GW PICK IMPORT CD $12 SKU:7557

OM -ST (1976 Argentine rare prog) TWO ONLY!-Label:FONOCAL Originally only released in 1976—on cassette! OM was one of the bands that established progressive rock in Argentina. Unfortunately the career of OM only lasted about five years, with an intense number of concerts as revealed by the chronicles of the time; and why not, OM were known for the power of their live shows. This CD contains a live and unpublished live bonus track—an eighteen minute suite that lay forgotten for forty years. The legend of this album has transcended the borders of our country. OM has been a major figure in the books of Progressive Rock: some call this album The Holy Grail of Rock." Recordings compared to legendary sets by Crucis, Bubu, Aquelarre and Invisible. As one person who saw OM put it, "I saw them live around 1973/74 - I believe in the Regio - and they blew my head off. I had brought a tape recorder to the theater where it was absolutely distorted, but I listened to it a thousand times. CD $16 SKU:20274

OPHIUCHUS-ST (obscure 70s psych blues) Label:LION Ophiucus may be the name of an obscure constellation, but it's also the name of a French band that recorded an exceptional album in 1972 for the Barclay label. All the members of the band had already enjoyed ample success in music before musician/actor Emmanuel Booz brought them together in 1971: Jean-Pierre Pouret was a well-known session-man for Sylvie Vartan; brothers Alain and Bernard Labacci released albums as Tom & Jerry, and supported Jimi Hendrix for a TV appearance; Michel Bonnecarrere had founded the band Zoo (one of Andy Votel from the B-Music label’s favorites), and was one of the composers, arrangers and musicians for that group’s first two albums. Apropos of the period, the band members decided to live together as a small family in Flagy, a small town in France, where they lived a happy life, and wrote the tracks which adorn this reissue. This ambitious album somehow manages to blend grungy psychedelic rock, acoustic blues, and densely orchestrated French pop/psych (in an Ilous & Decuyper vein) into an impressive and cohesive whole. Sandy Spencer, cellist and member of Mormos contributed wonderful playing on ‘Ne cherche plus’ and ‘Inachevée.’ This reissue includes the original album plus eight bonus tracks in English meant to be the basis of an international album that was never issued. A fulsome 28-page booklet includes band history and commentaries on the songs written by Ophiucus, photos, lyrics (French and English), and a contemporary review. Not to be missed! CD $10 SKU:20094

P205-ST - Rare 1975 psych recordings. Label:OHRWASCHL Rare 1975 recordings made before their famous collectable album. Founded in Wendelstein near Nuremberg in 1970, P205’s sole LP ("Vivat Progressio pereat mundus”) saw a release only in 1978. Long before the band KISS became famous in Europe, these guys were delivering unique live shows with pyrotechnics, burning torches and fog in a sinister decor with their faces painted. The music is leaning between a progressive and mystical edge close to Pink Floyd and the harder raw and darker side of Black Sabbath and Paternoster. These early recordings feature guitar/organ driven psychedelic hard rock with a rough-edged, underground sound CD $16 SKU:20166
