BIG RESTOCKS ON L.A PSYCH LABEL!

Hypnotic Bridge Records exists to support today’s most exciting and interesting psychedelic bands.

Devoted to the 7-inch, vinyl, 45-rpm format, the label specializes in bringing glorious psych-pop singles to fans, DJs, and collectors of psychedelic artifacts.

Records are pressed in limited-edition quantities of 500 per single and often represent a band’s most psychedelic, 1960s-inspired sounds.

Forged in the vibrant psych scene of Southern California, Hypnotic Bridge is part of a dynamic counterculture that includes not only music, but art, fashion, unique venues, and other forms of collective inspiration.

Inspired by Deram, the subsidiary label of Decca Records that released legendary singles by some of Britain’s most amazing psych-pop bands throughout the ‘60s and ‘70s, Hypnotic Bridge aims to craft a collection of vinyl treasures that will blow minds for decades to com

ALIEN MUSTANGS-Sunrays” b/w “Forest (13th Floor Elevators, Loop, Stooges and Spacemen 3 influenced)- Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE Harnessing the equine-like spirit of certain otherworldly entities, Alien Mustangs forge a fresh path through the psychedelic wilderness, sometimes glancing at maps sketched by The 13th Floor Elevators, Loop, Stooges and Spacemen 3, but more often exploring enticing new frontiers. Emanating sonically (and physically) from Thessaloniki, Greece, the band has been crafting its unique blend of ‘60s-flavored, hypnotic, space-psych trippiness since 2013, releasing their debut LP “Alienation” in 2018 45 RPM $10 SKU:21783

ASTEROID 4-Under My Umbrella (stellar psych pop)Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE Formed in Philadelphia and now based in Northern California, The Asteroid No. 4 have been melting minds since the late ‘90s, with a prolific discography of reverb-drenched recordings that span the sonic spectrum. Influenced by the finest psychedelic bands of every era, from The Beatles to The Rain Parade to Spacemen 3, the group has a unique sound that expands exponentially under the liquid light projections of their fabled live performances. b/w “House Of The Seventh Moon” A bespoke slice of stellar psych pop crafted especially for Hypnotic Bridge, “Under My Umbrella” finds The Asteroid No. 4 time-tripping back to the heyday of psychedelia’s first wave. With prerequisite ADT vocal recording, Leslie speakers, Mellotron, harpsichord and backward guitars, the band pays homage to revered masters such as Tomorrow, The Beatles, The Bee Gees, Donavon, The Hollies (and many more), embracing the atmosphere of London circa 1967 so succinctly that many listeners assume the song is a long-lost classic of the era. House Of The Seventh Moon” takes a more organic approach, enveloping listeners with echoes of The Moody Blues, Grapefruit, Orange Bicycle, early Hawkwind and legendary Bay Area bands that shaped the soundscape of The Asteroid No. 4’s current home. Which is appropriate, as the rich Victorian vernacular of San Francisco and the idyllic countryside of Northern California inspired not only the songs on this single, but also the complementary artwork by one of the band’s favorite artists, Andrew McGranahan, who employed vintage imagery enhanced with a thoroughly modern color palate 45 RPM $10 SKU:22512

BLACK WATCH -Crying All The Time (glorious acid pop psych, Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE b/w “One Hundred Million Times Around The Sun” and “Much Of A Muchness”
“Crying All The Time!” transports TBW into the realm of glorious pop psych, launching listeners into its stream of soaring, sonic splendor (and mellotronic majesty, courtesy of ex-BJM keyboardist Rob Campanella). Undoubtedly the first and only song to offer up such sumptuous words as delirious, imperious, mysterious, insidious and perfidious in a single set of lyrics.Originally from Santa Barbara, California and based in Los Angeles, The Black Watch evoke the same fervor from those in the know as do bands such as The Chameleons, The Church and The Stone Roses. 45 RPM $10 SKU:21638

CREATION FACTORY-Swirling Sight(sixties-style psych-pop)Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE “Swirling Sight” b/w “Sunflower” With a promise of mind-melting kaleidoscopic visions, “Swirling Sight” launches its phase-a-delic trip instantaneously, pulling you into The Creation Factory’s most glorious slice of sixties-style psych-pop ever pressed to vinyl. A roiling, driving beat gives denizens of the dance floor (and the DJs who inspire them) the chance to groove with delirious lysergic abandon. A sitar-laden psychedelic soundscape that evokes The Beatles’ “Flying” boosted supersonically to the edge of space, “Sunflower” blooms beautifully in a scintillating cycle of deep, droney, organic intensity. 45 RPM $10 SKU:21480

ELECTRIC LOOKING GLASS - Death of a Season ( Bee Gees, Left Banke and Kinks circa '68 influenced) Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE Electric Looking Glass are a baroque pop group from Los Angeles whose shared love of early Bee Gees, Left Banke and Kinks circa '68 informs their phenomenal songs. Fresh on the scene, the four far-out dandies create flash melodies in full harmony with jangly guitars, whirling Hammond and a belting backbeat. Sounds of yesterday, visions of tomorrow, yet fully focused on the perfect here and now.
Death Of A Season With a slow, groovy build riding deep, powerful currents of Hammond organ and buoyed by ethereal vocals, “Death Of A Season” envelops you in its sensuous sea of psychedelia before taking you to the top of a tidal wave of intense, climactic glorySomeday Soon”

Filled with heavenly harmonies, harpsichord, and jangly guitars, “Someday Soon” takes you to a place that exists only within the grooves of the song itself. It’s an ode to an unattainable idea, a four-minute fantasy about that “magic other-place” we sometimes find when we cross the Hypnotic Bridge. 45 RPM $10 SKU:21637

FLOWER MACHINE- Through a London Window-Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE Currently based in San Luis Obispo, California, The Flower Machine recorded the basic tracks for their Hypnotic Bridge single in a cavernous warehouse, on a vintage 8-track machine. The tapes were then taken to a studio in Cambria, where they added sitar, flute, organ, backwards guitars and subtle layers of Mellotron cello to complete the A-side, “Through A London Window,” which was inspired in part by Antonioni’s 1966 cinematic masterpiece “Blow Up.”“One in a Million,” perhaps the most obscure item in the Pink Floyd canon, makes its vinyl debut on the B-side. Surviving only on a murky audience tape from a gig in Copenhagen in September 1967, the song is thought to be a joint composition between Roger Waters and Syd Barrett. It even may have been a version of the rumored “She Was a Millionaire” single The Pink Floyd were working on to follow up “See Emily Play.” Peter spent ages decoding its lyrics, enabling us to present here, for the first time ever, a fully realized version of a song that many consider to be one of the last holy relics of the Barrett era. Peter employs a black-and-white Danelectro 59 for the guitar parts, while Matt Nice plays the menacing, Rick Wright-influenced organ. 45 RPM $10 SKU:22797

HIGHER STATE - In The Morning (psych-folk spirit of ’66 )Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE “In The Morning I Will Roam” b/w “Winter Is Blue” The psych-folk spirit of ’66 comes jangling through the mists of time with the profound sounds and imagery of “In The Morning I Will Roam”, transporting those who listen intently into the pensive, rustic realm of classic British troubadours, from Donovan Leitch to Vashti Bunyan.“Winter Is Blue” is, in fact, one of Vashti’s own early classics, transformed into a perfect complement to the A-side by The Higher State’s visionary take on her obscure contribution to 1968’s “Tonite Let’s All Make Love In London” soundtrack. 45 RPM $10 SKU:21478

MAD WALLS- It Turns (Floydian sounds drifting within a stream of dreamy psych).
Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE MAD WALLS- It Turns “It Turns” b/w “Eternal Light” Curated to complement each other, the songs on this single are among the trippiest yet from The Mad Walls. “It Turns” arrives like an echo from the past broadcast from the future, with early Floydian sounds and sentiments drifting within a stream of dreamy psych.“Eternal Light” gallops with muted hooves through a fever dream of dense butterscotch brilliance, an Edwardian ghost swirling alongside holding a spliff the size of a torch, illuminating facets of strange, undulating gems along the path. 45 RPM $10 SKU:21479

MAGIC SHOPPE - Doppelganger (60s style Byrds influenced)- Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE Coincidentally yet appropriately labeling their reverb-heavy sound as “hypnotic,” Magic Shoppe’s single for Hypnotic Bridge leads off with A-side “Doppelgänger,” a song originally titled “Salventius” after the Dutch artist known for his “single-line” drawings of faces. Shelved from an earlier project, the name “Doppelgänger” was actually suggested by Salventius, given it’s a sort of “double” for the original concept for the song. Songwriter and lead guitarist Josiah Webb used three fuzz pedals (with a “fully cocked wah” at the end) with tones turned to pure treble for the fuzz. The ending riff is a nod to Roger McGuinn: highly compressed, clean and with maximum treble, creating a tone that evokes The Byrds’ “Eight Miles High.”Not a reference to San Francisco’s airport but, rather, an acronym for “Skintight Futuristic Outfit,” “S.F.O.” was conceived and tracked in a single session. The band originally intended to play the song quickly, then reverse it completely, possibly adding forward overdubs, but after hearing the results decided to give it more of a “split-brain” dynamic. The first part of the song is played normally, but after some intentional audio degradation (and Vox Cheetah/Fender Twin amp feedback), descends into a total reverse copy of the beginning, with the exception of a forwards vocal overdub. 45 RPM $10 SKU:22188

REVERBERATIONS -Milder High (Beatles style pop psych) Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE Inspired by a fictional psychedelic experience (with all the exciting highs and mellow lows), “Milder Higher” marks a new, more complex direction in The Reverberations’ sound. With interesting time changes, Leslie vocals and a reversed lead fuzz guitar, the song brings to mind bands such as The Beatles and The Peanut Butter Conspiracy. Like the A-side, “Sunshine” was recorded in early 2019 by the legendary Matt Rendon at Midtown Island Studios in Tucson and recorded to 8-track tape for a classic approach and feeling, with backing vocals done as three-part harmonies around a single microphone. The recent addition of keyboards to The Reverberations’ lineup brings an essential psychedelic element to the song, and the band. 45 RPM $10 SKU:21780

SACRED ORANGE -Mister Opel (60s style psych)-Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE b/w “Away My Love” and “Crystal Sunlight” A psychedelic supergroup composed of members of Electric Looking Glass, Triptides, Dream Phases, Frankie and the Witch Fingers and more, Sacred Orange is the brainchild of former Creation Factory guitarist Neil Soiland. With influences as diverse as One In A Million, The Beatles, Tintern Abbey, Graham Gouldman, The Beach Boys, Tommy Roe and Satanic Majesties-era Rolling Stones, the Sacred Orange project epitomizes not only the mind-blowing music that defined psychedelia’s golden age, but the camaraderie and shared inspiration that brought it to life.Intended solely as a studio project, over 60 separate tracks were recorded for “Mister Opel” alone. Months in the making, the three songs that constitute the Sacred Orange EP serve as the magnum opus of the now-legendary project, in which nearly every denizen of the L.A. psych scene was seemingly somehow involved. 45 RPM $10 SKU:22513

SMALL BREED -An Elderflower Parliament (Classic 60s style psych pop) Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE A self-described “small herd of musicians who produce vibrant melodies” with a lush variation of harmonies and instruments, The Small Breed find inspiration in the flower-bathed landscape of the southern Dutch countryside where they were born and bred. With surprising instrumentation and sounds, the five-piece band charts an original path influenced by the classic psychedelic pop bands and albums they love best. Think of The Beatles sharing a special pot of elderflower tea with The Pink Floyd, The Pretty Things and future members of The Millennium, circa 1967, and you may catch a fleeting glimpse of where things are going. 45 RPM $10 SKU:22514

TRIPTIDES-Nirvana Now (sun-drenched psych)-Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE “Nirvana Now” b/w “She Is Dressed In Red” An ecstatic reflection on a dream shared by “all who were there”, the paean to enlightenment encapsulated by “Nirvana Now” takes Triptides’ sun-drenched psychedelia to new glorious new heights. Awash in aural delights emanating from a Wurlitzer electric piano along with Epiphone Casino and fuzz guitars, the song has all a seeker of psyched-out bliss could ask for. Shimmering with dronalicious sitar, Farfisa organ, 12-string guitar and Beatle bass, “She Is Dressed In Red” is the perfect marigold comedown after spinning the A-side at maximum volume. 45 RPM $10 SKU:21476

TURNS - Doorman (timeless essence of West Coast psych)Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE “Doorman” b/w “Just Like You” Doorman” is the opening salvo in a new direction in The Turns’ sound, with soulful vocals and a slow, powerful build that soars with the psychedelic splendor of bands like The Buffalo Springfield, The Jefferson Airplane and Love. The timeless essence of West Coast psychedelia is encapsulated in the lovely groove of “Just Like You,” which blossoms in the mind like memories of sunny summer afternoons spent lazing on paisley picnic blankets. 45 RPM $10 SKU:21477

ODYSSEY - SETTING FORTH W COLOR INSERT (1969 fuzz psych) Label: Acme/Lion Productions Once upon a time, when the music business was more music than business (but only just), there was a band that created a quintessential dose of New York sixties psychedelia: one perfect album, loaded with fuzz guitar riffs of the greatest ferocity, heavy swirling organ, pulsating drums, and intense vocals. That band was Odyssey. It is true that their album, "Setting Forth," did not take them from support slots in their native Long Island to the major label heights of other local bands like Vanilla Fudge. That could be because there were only a few copies made, and they came in a plain white jacket. Yet it is that same Odyssey "Setting Forth" album that is one of the greatest guitar-heavy psychedelic records in the world, and as a result is one of the most sought after and rare (expensive) LPs of the era. The last original vinyl copy to hit the open market was back in 2005, it’s that rare. Now “Setting Forth” is available on vinyl again for the for the first time in a decade, ready for true psych fans to devour. This is truly one of the cornerstones of underground psychedelic music, recorded in 1969 and released as we have said in a minuscule private edition. It is an album that jumps right out of the speakers at you, from it’s opening blasts of 'In-a-gadda-da-vida’ fuzz guitar riffs, right to the very end. Color insert has a suitably kaleidoscopic band history by Odyssey leader Vinny Kusy, as well as rare photos from his own archive. One of the most important psychedelic rarities ever pressed on wax—back on wax. •One of the absolute best American psychedelic LPs of the 1960’s, and one of the rarest!

  • Includes a color insert with rare photos, and kaleidoscopic band history by Odyssey leader Vinny Kusy. a link to an mp3 sampler, which has a little taste of every track on this outstanding record LP $22 SKU:22094
  • OUBA - ST Canadian 60s acid psych rarity ( insert with photos and liners) -Label:OUT-SIDER (Spain) A Canadian rarity from 1968, recorded under the influence of hallucinogenic substances by underground musicians Michel Pagliaro, Tony Roman, Denis Lepage and Andy Shorter. The album consists of just one long freak-out jam divided in two sides. You get a raw basement sound featuring acid guitar, stoned vocals, keyboards and loud drums, similar to early Soft Machine, Pink Floyd at their most free-form phase, or Can. Comes with newly remastered sound, plus an insert with photos and liner notes. LP $15 SKU:16168

OUTRAGEOUS CHERRY - Seemingly Solid Reality ( glam psych ) RED ViNYL -LAST FEW! - Label:ALIVE About to go out of print forever, will NOT be repressed!

After the critically acclaimed glam/psych miasma of 2009's UNIVERSAL MALCONTENTS, and subsequent tours in Europe and the USA, O.C. returned to their analog cave to record Matthew Smith's latest batch of tunes. Throughout SEEMINGLY SOLID REALITY, sweet melodies and harmonies soar over the gnashing of vicious, urban Motor City guitar workouts. Motown-fueled bass and drums throb hypnotically. OUTRAGEOUS CHERRY recently got a lot of love from The NEW P*RNOGRAPHERS who recorded a EP of their songs for Matador titled "Togetherness - The New P*rnographers play Outrageous Cherry" LP $20 SKU:11571

PHIL & THE FRANTICS - ST (great 60s garage ZOMBIES STYLE ) LAST COPIES SAALE! Label:VOXX A top draw in their native Phoenix, Phil and the Frantics were basically unknown elsewhere until a 1966 side called "I Must Run" appeared on Pebbles Volume 2 a decade and a half later. Without question, the song is one of the greatest garage ballads ever made. (Discoveries) LP $15 SKU:22113

PIAZZA,ARMANDO - Suan (rare 1972 ACID PSYCH)-Label:MISSING VINYL Singer-songwriter Armando Piazza from Naples was joined by renowned US guitarist Shawn Phillips on bass, acoustic and electric guitar for this rarity, originally released on the obscure Black Beautiful Butterfly label in 1972; since it was sold only at concerts and by mail, it was even then difficult to find. And what a pity! Acid-psychedelic ballads in English, with bursts of fuzz guitar and excellent use of electric instruments as well as abundant acoustic guitar (the good people at Missing Vinyl say that the fuzz bass on ‘The House on the Hill’ will blow your mind and… speakers away)! This is an album considered to be one of the best, and is certainly one of the rarest European psychedelic albums, with original mint condition copies going nowadays for 1,000+ Euro. A heavy, yet subtle record, folky, with oddly inflected vocals and deliciously crunchy guitar. Limited edition, deluxe 180g vinyl, in a heavy deluxe double gatefold cover that is a replica of the complex original jacket.

POISON BOYS- Out of My Head (Heartbreakers/Dolls/Thunders style) - Label:DEAD BEAT Real Rock ‘n Roll ain’t dead folks, and Chicago’s Poison Boys bring a sleazy, greazy dose of the good stuff. With three grimy dudes that look like they’re days away from rehab, the Poison Boys look exactly like the same kind of reckless, drug-addled scuzz rockers that Johnny Thunders was lookin’ to recruit when he formed the Heartbreakers just after his departure from the New York Dolls. And any one of these motherfuckers woulda fit right in as the core spirit of the Poison Boys is the syringe addled sounds of the Heartbreakers, the Dolls and Thunders solo material with echos of fellow guitar-slinging, riff ‘n roll disciples like Hanoi Hanoi Rocks, the Berlin Brats, Dead Boys, Nervous Eaters and the Joneses. ‘Out Of My Head’ lives up to it’s Junkie Rock name spewing the best kind of smutty, sloppy Rock & Roll sleaze across 12 guitar-centric, gutter dwelling tracks that reek of shitheads, ex-girlfriends, bad decisions and life gone wrong. The LP jacket is adorned with cool looking cover art by Alex Hagen and includes a lyrics sheet insert as well. LP $15 SKU:22040

BULENT ORTAÇGIL-B-enimle Oynar Misin (1974 Turkish folk) Label:WORLD PSYCHEDELIA South Korean pressing. Bulent Ortacgil's absolutely phenomenal 1974 debut Benimle Oynar Misin is considered a landmark album in his native Turkey, but after three decades the singer-songwriter remains virtually unknown in the United States. The songs are written and arranged simply and tastefully, with Bulent’s gravelly voice and gorgeous finger-picked guitar in the forefront of most tracks, fronting spare, introspective folk rock arrangements that feauture piano, trumpet, saxophone, and strings. The mood is melancholic, but with a strong underlying sense of hope and joy. Even though we don't understand a word of Turkish, this is one of the most engrossing records we've heard in ages. An album that promises to stick with you for a long, long time. CD $5 SKU:20392

CAL - Homegrown (60s/70s influenced psych hard-rock) -Label:OUT-SIDER Totally under the radar US private pressing from 1982. 60s/70s influenced psychedelic hard-rock full of distorted guitar and freaky synths with some mellowed-out folky moments. File next to other psych misfits such like T Kail, D.R. Hooker, Marcus, Michael Angelo…

Cal - also known as “Cal Rock&Roll” - was a band formed in the mid-70s in New York by some veteran musicians from the club scene: Larry Calabrese on guitar & vocals, Andy Barone on bass, Jerry Joly on drums / vocals and Jeffrey Gaer on keyboards. Famous for their powerful live shows – one of their stellar moments was opening for Leslie West & Mountain - , Cal secured a faithful fan base, especially among the biker crowd.

“Homegrown” was released in 1982 in a edition of 2000 copies, most of which were discarded due to pressing faults. Also, the album mastered at lower speed. Soon after, Larry met Todd Rundgren at a recording studio and he expressed interest in the band and some of their songs. Famous record label Sugarhill were also interested in adding Cal to their roster but nothing came of it in the end. So “Homegrown” vanished into obscurity until some original copies were discovered by psych dealers and collectors in the 90s.

CATHERINE’S HORSE- Garage Blues from Connecticut (rare 1969 5 star POKORA FAVE!) - Label:BREAK- A-WAY RECORDS (Germany) Due to a long time growing interest into local 60s rock, most band stories, even of those who did put out rare and local records, have since been written. Not so with Connecticut band Catherine´s Horse. Their sole album dates from 1969 and was released only in an inner sleeve and no cover. Due to its rarity it is still a largely unknown release among today's record collectors and honoured with five stars in Hans Pokora’s “1001 Record Collectors Dream Book”. But those who happen to be familiar with it, appreciate it for the fresh sound of the music and the clear production. That and the fact, that it’s an amazing white blues rock album with a strong garage attitude provided by five high school students who never played professionally. The tracks are nearly all cover versions of classic, often moody blues tracks reminiscent of early Paul Butterfield Blues Band or Blues Project. The LP incl. long time standards such as “Good Morning Little School Girl”, “Think Twice”, “One More Mile” or “Can’t Keep From Cryin” mixed with covers of Jimmy Brenstons’ “Rocket 88” or Jagger / Richards “Good Times, Bad Times”. The only group original ''Sun Going Down'' hints at the talent and potential the band had and rounds off the groups effortless white electric bluesrock expertise. As the vinyl release from 15 month ago, this CD release comes with the originally intended coloured cover-art. The detailed booklet has the band’s history as related by original members Roger Goodspeed, Jay Geary and Putnam Smith, alongside rare photos and memorabilia. A 100% legit release and a must for late 60s rock collectors.500 copies only! CD $10 SKU:13721

This is the second album from Karaca, released in 1974. It leads the listener through Karaca’s own musical history, skipping across various collaborations and bands up to his then-current project Dervi an. Can throbbing Anatolian guitars take on the assassins of the Grey Wolves? CHILLIWACK - All Over You(Canadian 70s pop) LAST COPIES Label:PACEMAKER Chilliwack rose from the ashes of The Collectors: while spending time in California, the Collectors had been signed to a record deal. After a pair of albums and a string of radio singles between 1967 and 1969, and tours with the likes of The Doors and Jefferson Airplane, The Collectors were dead… and up sprung Chilliwack. The band released an eponymous double album set a year later (1971), featuring the classics ‘Lonesome Mary,’ ‘Music For A Quiet Time,’ and the seventeen-minute long ‘Night-Morning.’ To sort out any confusion, fans refer to the first Chilliwack album as "The Mask Album" and this as "The Double Album" as it was originally... guess what? a double album. From the back of the album: "A few words about the music... Our objective in the studio was to get as much life into the music as we could. Side One contains songs we hope are suitable for AM play. "Changing Reels," on Side Two, is a long sectional composition. The lead vocals in the last section are improvisations, and the song was written around then afterwards. "Music For a Quiet Time" was performed by Bill and Claire sitting in an echo chamber for a couple of hours. "Night-Morning" is the result of a studio full of instruments and microphones set up to record any free-form music we might want to play. Ross sat at the organ and started to play sounds with hands, head and elbows. Bill and Claire joined in with piano, flute and vocals, and the piece grew from there. We hope you find something here for you. CD $10 SKU:19932

PSYCHEDELIC UNDERGROUND- VOL 14 ( 70s psych prog )SAALE -Label:Garden of Delights Still plenty of greatness to unearth in the Psychedelic Underground -- just the sort of tripped-out grooves we've really come to love from this well-priced series! Some of the work here is as heavy on jazzy elements as it is psychedelic ones -- making for a great blend that's a bit more organic at times than you might expect -- a world-ranging approach to the styles that really keeps things interesting, and which nicely breaks past simple cliches of psychedelia. Plus, many of the tracks are of European origin, and from the 70s -- and they've got key proggish elements as well, especially on some of the jazzier numbers. Titles include "Summer 79" by Gravestone, "Arctic Ocean" by Pancake, "Back On My Hill" by Faithful Breath, "Ala Dalona" by Emma Myldenberger, "Question" by Joy Unlimited, "Bolero" by Aqua, and "Where Is Your Home Town COMP CD $7 SKU:8718

RAKS RAKS RAKS -VA 27 GOLDEN GARAGE PSYCH NUGGETS FROM THE IRANIAN 60S SCENE-Label: FLOATING WORLD ' - This is one of the most anticipated as well as unexpected compilations from the global depths of 60s and 70s rock'n'roll: The Persian scene. Let alone coming across with a representative compilation, even solid evidences of such a scene has not been seen until now and has been largely suspected, maybe save for a select few of eager garage and psychedelic record collectors and enthusiasts of worldwide rock, who have been trying to hunt such sounds on the internet and private collectors' circles, usually to no avail. Needless to say, the most important factor in this has been the obvious hideously rare status that Iran's pre-Revolution East-West cross cultural artefacts are in right now. As with almost all Asiatic countries, the Shadows and the Ventures seem to be the true and primal influence in the Iranian music scene of the most part of 60s for the rock sound and attitude to penetrate the country's fledgeling record industry and its swinging public base. In 1964, the legendary Top4 company opened up and started releasing choice chart hits from the worldwide lists, on 4-track EPs, followed soon by MonoGram and other companies. These mixed up records featured a lot of popular songs of the day, spanning the whole European continent i.e. including what's referred to now as 'Euro pop' hits and the 'big brothers', UK and US charts. The day's youth back then was lucky: they could follow the West moment by moment now. The foremost impact of these were to feature and spread British invaders, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, otherwise available only on radio. Come 1966, 60s was in full swing in Iran too! ROCK EN AREQUIPA- ST (Rare singles from 60s Peru )Label:RE-PSYCHLED Twenty-one tracks (72 minutes), the best of the rare singles recorded by bands like Free Love System, Los Texao, Los Incógnitos, Madera Fresca, and Opus who thrived in Arequipa, Peru during the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. Arequipa? yes, Arequipa, the second most populous city in Peru, up in the Andes mountains at an altitude of 2,380 meters (7,800 feet) above sea level; Arequipa, nicknamed La Ciudad Blanca (The White City), nestled beneath the snow-capped volcano El Misti. Arequipa. Get your Peruvian beat fix with groovy tracks from Los Incógnitos and Los Texao. Want some face-melting psychedelia instead? check out Los Texao’s ‘Stone’ or their fuzz-guitar laced instrumental ‘Swarlb’—both a musical style called "Niebla" (Fog), because of the effect produced by the band’s rotor amps and reverb and echo effects. (Los Texao were the first group in the province to record using FuzzTone effects, using powerful Dynacord amps imported from Germany). Prefer a more laid-back style? then you’ll love Free Love System. Looking for some heavy grooves? ‘La pelea del gobernador’ (Los Texao) or ‘Un paseo por el recuerdo’ (Free Love System) might do it for you. Sixteen-page booklet has mini-biographies of all five bands in Spanish and English; all tracks are from the master tapes, with the exception of Madera Fresca’s freak out ‘Any Time’—a classic at parties—and their acoustic version of ‘La lenta que apura,’ both rescued from the obscurity of a rare cassette. The first regional rock compilation from Peru's rich and mostly undiscovered musical history, but certainly not the last! COMP CD $10 SKU:20202

OBLIVIOUS-CREATING MEANING(retro/heavy rock)GATEFOLD SAALE!Label:WORLD IN SOUND Presented in a gatefold cover, this is the limited black vinyl version of Swedish retro/heavy rock quintet Oblivious' second album 'Creating Meaning'. This title was prviously released on CD by Transubstans Records in 2013. 'Creating Meaning' contains classic guitar driven retro rock with stunning vocals, sometimes straight forward boogie blues, but also with haunted and melancholic moments. Enjoy the strong and authentic flashes of the British heavy '70s blues hardrock! Somehow this 8-track album reminds of Steamhammer's 'Mountains' with more screaming and punchy guitar-work, but it also captures song structures in the vein of Led Zeppelin, UFO and Black Sabbath or contemporary likeminded groups such as Graveyard, Dozer or Clutch. From the first note till the very last tone, this is a very impressive album, which takes you back in time and space LP $14 SKU:21743

ONE OF HOURS-When You Hear The Music, It’s Yours-(late ‘60s US Pepperish U.S garage psych)-Label:OUT-SIDER Cool late ‘60s US Pepperish psychedelia with inventive arrangements, fuzz guitars, studio effects…Recorded in 1967-68 but shelved at the time. Famous for their “Psychedelic Illusion” 45, US garage-psych band ONE OF HOURS formed in Lexington, KY, in 1966. After adding guitar player Bob Willcutt to their line-up, they released their second 45, “Feel the Pain" / “Psychedelic Illusion”, in 1967. Work then began on an album of a complete but varied musical experience called "When You Hear the Music, It's Yours".Fuelled by the creative force of band member Shawn Foreman (a true visionary who would create the cult electro / disco project Transistor-Jet in the 80s), the group (now called Dandelion Wine) entered Chetwyd Studios where they, in true psychedelic mode, experimented and used unusual techniques like backwards recording, paper under piano strings, singing through a comb, interconnecting Fuzz boxes, etc. The finished master tape containing 12 songs with titles like “Two Heads For 25 Cents”, “Sweet Dragonfly” or “Incense C-19X” was sent to the Liberty label with the promise of an album contract for 1968…but the deal never came through and the master tape was destroyed in a warehouse fire. Luckily, Bob Willcutt kept a first generation copy of the master with perfect sound which we present here in a deluxe vinyl edition, housed in a silver mirrored die-cut sleeve. File next to West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band and the like!*Insert with liner notes and photos.*Digital download card included LP $25 SKU:20958

OOSTEN, MICHAEL - St (70s hippie psych) HAND SCREENED COVER w 3 bonus tracks.-Label:WAY GONE + LION PRODUCTIONS (USA) Keeping a band together was difficult in the late 1960’s. Tough too, because Michael Oosten was writing songs that veered away from pop-song structures. There was also the relative ease and lack of responsibility required for hauling around a guitar. So, Oosten took off, with a Martin guitar in tow, playing coffeehouses and clubs across the country. By the end of 1973, he was ready to record an LP—five psychedelic folk/rock tracks, ranging from the brightly smiling ‘Sunny Day’ to the epic ‘Hungry Horse Montana,’ where Oost switched seamlessly from Celtic picking to Middle Eastern chord progressions. Oosten filled out his folk/rock/psych sound with the help of a few friends: piano from Tom Hennick on ‘Hey Babe,’ vocals from Jan Reek on ‘Garden,’ and bass from Al Byla on ‘Sunny Day.’ Oosten's wayward vocals puts us in mind of other meandering faves from various eras (Incredible String Band, Perry Leopold, or the Meatpuppets, to name but three), and Oost proves himself a stellar guitarist in an eccentric and percussive mode. Considering the individualistic nature of the album's genesis, no surprise that marketing and publicity for the album was limited. Columbia Records expressed interest in Oosten's music; but after a single meeting with the label, it was clear that the album would be too difficult for the mainstream honchos to market. Oost and friend Lester D'ore (editor of Chicago countercultural paper Seed and designer of the Yippie flag) holed up at D'ore's Wisconsin commune farm to silkscreen each LP jacket by hand. For our deluxe Lion Productions replica edition, they’ve done that again—we've used the original screens for this hand-screened, hand-assembled replica edition. The work of a renegade, ripe for rediscovery. •Hand silk-screened jackets, using the original screens •180 gram vinyl w/replica labels + color insert •Sleeve notes by Michael Oosten•Limited to 500 copies, which come in multiple color variations LP $15 SKU:19264

P205- Vivat Progressio Pereat Mundus (Ultra rare 70s mystical German Heavy Psych) SEAM DAMAGE BARGAIN!Label:GOLDEN PAVILLION shrink wrapped, but a little damage (less than 1/2 inch) to the top seam, GREAT deal. Ultra rare mystical German Heavy Psych gem. First time reissued on vinyl. Founded in Wendelstein near Nuremberg in 1970, P205’s sole LP saw a release only in 1978 on the collectable Brutkasten label. These guys were delivering quite unique live shows with pyrotechnics, burning torches and fog in a sinister decor with their faces painted very much like KISS did. The music has a progressive and mystical edge close to Pink Floyd and the harder raw and darker side of Black Sabbath and Paternoster. Fully sung in English. Here’s a fully licensed offcial release, faithful to the rare original LP. For fans of Black Sabbath, Paternoster, Lava, UFO—or fans of Virus and My Solid Ground” LP $18 SKU:21864

PENTAGON -Die Vertreibung der bösen. (70s German blues prog) SAALE! .Label:GARDEN OF DELIGHTS (Germany): "Pentagon was the first group on the small Munich label German Blues and Underground, which later on also released the two Siloah records. The 7” single was supposed to be followed by an LP, but it never got beyond the dubplate/acetate stage, a kind of demo pressing. A music cassette, however, was released, the simple cover of which was used for the LP cover, too. Although very young at the time, the three musicians already played respectable blues rock. The tracks of side 2 of the vinyl album were taken from the master tape, the tracks of side 1 were digitally decrackled by Cedar’s NoNoise system. It’s a first-class find, saved from oblivion in the very last minute. The title means in English “The expulsion of the evil spirits from the Pentagon”. Limited edition of 1000 numbered LPs. Comes with 8-page LP sized booklet. LP $22 SKU:20883

PIG RIDER -The Robinson Scratch Theory (80s Brit psych GALACTIC RAMBLE fave) SAALE! DBL LP Label:GUERSSON Bedroom / lo-fi psychedelia by these unsung heroes from the 80s DIY cassette culture scene. From outsider synth-pop to Barrett-esque lysergic folk, from lo-fi garage-punk to basement prog: acid-fuzz guitars, cheap keyboards, primitive electronics, homemade vibe and bizarre, funny lyrics. Pig Rider were formed in Kent, UK, in the late 60s by John Mayes and Colin Kitchener. With the help from some friends they recorded and self-released a series of acetate only psych-folk albums in the mid-70s (“Heterophonies”, “Bloody Turkey Sandwiches”…) which are prime examples of early DIY psychedelic music, highly sought-after since a review of “Heterophonies” appeared on the Galactic Ramble book. In 2013, collector Alexandre Mansuy (from the influential “Somewhere There Is Music” blog), having only listened to their “Heterophonies”album, found John and Colin and was astonished when they told him their story: “Heterophonies” was only one of their many, many great recordings, 22 in all, including 45s, acetates and tapes. Those included complete, and to date unperformed, opera for schools, a song-cycle about Luton, a town they knew nothing about; songs designed to be played backwards, songs which are slightly offensive and others which are too offensive to play at all, anywhere, ever. “The Robinson Scratch Theory”, is a compilation featuring tracks originally recorded between 1980 and 1986 and released as private cassettes. Pig Rider’s sound bring to mind obscure DIY bands like Desperate Bicycles, Instant Automatons or Beyond The Implode but only if those bands knew how to write catchy and well-crafted songs LP $15 SKU:20922

PRODIGAL SONS -Emerge From The Void (Killer hard rock from 1972) DINGED CORNER DISCOUNT!Label:VOID Very small dinged corner. GREAT deal. Killer hard rock from 1972, sounds like a mix of Bolder Damn and Allman Brothers, with maybe a little Feather Da Gamba. Lost music from a lost time. The mystery and music of The Prodigal Sons continues to thrill and mesmerize listeners to this day. Who are they? Where are they? The answers my friend lay in the vault of the Void. An extremeley consistent blend of heavy metal, power-trio hard rock, and some boogie blues driven hard rock, featuring good wah-wah guitar. A great party album, leading one to believe they must have been a truly excellent live act. If you like Wildfire, Tin House and early BTO you will dig this! There's even some British influence (John's Tune, Saga Of Yeti) here. This is a killer throughout, and unknown heretofore." LP $14 SKU:21093
