RESTOCKS
BEVIS FROND - A Typical Freakout (incendiary psych!) - Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE With influences ranging from Hendrix to Cream and The Byrds to The Wipers, The Bevis Frond has been making some of the most astoundingly incendiary psychedelic songs of our time. The legendary initial albums were recorded by the band’s guiding force, Nick Saloman, in a bedroom studio in London during the last years of the 1980s, and with the pandemic-induced lock-down in full force during the first years of the 2020s, Nick returned to playing all the instruments for his newest release on Hypnotic Bridge. Using his typical set-up, multi-instrumentalist Nick Saloman employed a 1960s Vox Continental keyboard, 1970s Burns Flyte guitar, 1990s Epiphone bass (which somewhat resembles a Hofner Violin), and a house kit for the drums. All sounds emanated from a 1970s Carlsboro Stingray amp. 45 RPM $10 SKU:25163
BLACK SNAKE MOAN- (Fire The Beatles, Love, and Jefferson Airplane style) Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE While encompassing a new vision of the legendary sound of the 1960s, both songs also reflect the innovative songcraft of the pioneers of the psychedelic genre, including The Beatles, Love, and Jefferson Airplane. With its driving organ and Morrisonian baritone, “Fire” also evokes The Doors and Iron Butterfly, while “What You See” integrates a jangly, 12-string guitar and desert rock vibes that reflect the dreamy West Coast vibe of The Byrds and Buffalo Springfield. 45 RPM $10 SKU:26447
CHEMISTRY - Paint Me a Dream (psych Hendrix,Love style) -Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE Pioneers in the late ‘80s UK neo-psychedelic scene, Dave Mclean and Paul Lake founded The Chemistry Set in 1987, releasing mind-melting sets of songs on Manchester’s alternative Imaginary label as well as the cassette-only Acid Tapes label. Known for their sophisticated original songcraft as well as their uncanny ability to interpret often obscure (but always classic) psychedelic songs with unparalleled cover versions, The Chemistry Set have taken some the most lysergic works of The Pink Floyd, Love, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Rolling Stones, Del Shannon, The Moody Blues, Tomorrow and more to exciting and unexpected places45 RPM $10 SKU:24348
ELECTRIC LOOKING GLASS - Death of a Season ( Bee Gees, Left Banke and Kinks circa '68 influenced) Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE Electric Looking Glass are a baroque pop group from Los Angeles whose shared love of early Bee Gees, Left Banke and Kinks circa '68 informs their phenomenal songs. Fresh on the scene, the four far-out dandies create flash melodies in full harmony with jangly guitars, whirling Hammond and a belting backbeat. Sounds of yesterday, visions of tomorrow, yet fully focused on the perfect here and now.
Death Of A Season With a slow, groovy build riding deep, powerful currents of Hammond organ and buoyed by ethereal vocals, “Death Of A Season” envelops you in its sensuous sea of psychedelia before taking you to the top of a tidal wave of intense, climactic glorySomeday Soon” Filled with heavenly harmonies, harpsichord, and jangly guitars, “Someday Soon” takes you to a place that exists only within the grooves of the song itself. It’s an ode to an unattainable idea, a four-minute fantasy about that “magic other-place” we sometimes find when we cross the Hypnotic Bridge. 45 RPM $10 SKU:21637
JOVIAN TEA -Strange World (glorious psych-pop )Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE b/w “Red And Green Talking Machine” . Though we’re not sure which song was originally intended as the A-side, intuition tells us it was “Strange World” (though both songs are equally wonderful). “Strange World” is classic psychedelia from the first line of the lyrics, relating the musings of a whimsical soul who, lying horizontally, looks up and reflects on how watching a fly traverse the ceiling makes it feel as though he’s upside down. The perspective then shifts to that of the fly, who laments how the people below continually try to destroy its kind. We suspect the song’s unknown author was a fan of The Pink Floyd (and Syd Barrett in particular).“Red And Green Talking Machine” is the tale of a frustrated young fellow, quite possibly the same one who’s been observing diptera dancing on the plaster skies above, bemoaning the lack of “keenness” on the part of his pet parrot, who apparently isn’t much of a talker after all. Sheer psychedelic brilliance. 45 RPM $10 SKU:24993
SACRED ORANGE -Mister Opel (60s style psych)-Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE b/w “Away My Love” and “Crystal Sunlight” A psychedelic supergroup composed of members of Electric Looking Glass, Triptides, Dream Phases, Frankie and the Witch Fingers and more, Sacred Orange is the brainchild of former Creation Factory guitarist Neil Soiland. With influences as diverse as One In A Million, The Beatles, Tintern Abbey, Graham Gouldman, The Beach Boys, Tommy Roe and Satanic Majesties-era Rolling Stones, the Sacred Orange project epitomizes not only the mind-blowing music that defined psychedelia’s golden age, but the camaraderie and shared inspiration that brought it to life. 45 RPM $10 SKU:22513
SHADOW SHOW -What Again Is Real? (IYL early Bangles (Bangs) and Pandoras from Detroit power trio) Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE B/W Is This A Dream?Detroit power trio Shadow Show bring elements of ‘60s garage-psychedelia into a modern, 21st-century pop-art incarnation. Sleek and spellbinding –yet rooted in the raw, untouchable Detroit sound–their music immerses its audience in frenetic psychedelic grooves and dazzling harmonies. 45 RPM $10 SKU:23737
VIBRAVOID-The Secrets In Her Eyes” b/w “When The People AriseLabel:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE Immersed in the maelstrom of mind-bending music emanating from the Krautrock capital of Düsseldorf, Vibravoid emerged from the city’s 1990s underground music scene as Germany’s premier pioneers of visionary, “Neo-Krautrock” influenced psychedelia. Blending influences from early Pink Floyd, Electric Prunes, Strawberry Alarm Clock and Iron Butterfly through Spacemen 3 and beyond, the band creates psychedelic sounds that reflect both then and now.
Led by enigmatic multimedia artist, musician and DJ “Doktor” Christian Koch, the band has continually championed the righteous goal of pushing the boundaries of vinyl records to stratospheric heights. 45 RPM $10 SKU:26181
ABSTRACTS - Hey Let’s Go Now (60s Brit invasion style) Label:BREAKAWAY The Abstracts from Long Island, N.Y. are best known for their classic song 'Always Always'. As one of the first US bands to create an American answer to the British Invasion, their songs were already written and a master plan already in the works when the Beatles started their meteoric rise in the US. But like many of the first wave UK beat bands, The Abstracts were together only for a little more than two years and split when rock and roll moved into a direction that wasn't theirs. Though during this short period, with their storming and ingenuous beat, they recruited a huge following and accomplished a great deal. They were one of the first bands to utilize a light show and besides their sole 45, their legacy contains a cache of unreleased period recordings, some of them made for Columbia Records in 1964. Finally, over four decades later, this album collects the bands entire studio material alongside two excellent sounding 1966 live tracks. An in-depth insert with a wealth of never-before-seen-photos traces the history of the band that brought "Abstractmania" to the New York area in the sixties CD $12 SKU:24265

SAMSARA BLUES EXPERIMENT- END OF FOREVER - STONER PSYCH , for Radio Moscow fans -Label:ELECTRIC MAGIC Samsara Blues Experiment, one of the heavyweights of German psychedelic rock are leaving the scene, but anything but silently! 'End Of Forever' consists of seven songs. Compared to the 2017 album 'One Of The Universe' - which was defined in particular by the elaborate, 15-minute title track - the listeners will again experience a very organic production and a self-reflective bow in the direction of the early days of the band, without copying themselves. What is striking is the almost equal use of keyboards and synthesizers next to the guitar, which again and again manage to create a great atmosphere, not infrequently reminiscent of bands like Pink Floyd in the seventies - not necessarily from the sound, but simply from the craftsmanship with which they manage to send the listener on a journey, where destination and return are indeterminate and solely at the discretion and imagination of the listener - if he gets involved. With 'End Of Forever' Samsara Blues Experiment created a farewell statement, which already makes you want to see them again." (Rockblog Bluesspot) CD $19 SKU:24221

One may indeed believe it came from the sixties! CD $10 SKU:21324

BONGZILLA- DAB CITY (an ode to the purest form of THC) PURPLE Label:HEAVY PSYCH SOUNDS 'Dab City' is an ode to the purest form of THC and our beloved hometown of Madison Wisconsin, which is known as Mad City. A political and social hot bed and lightning rod for our state and the Midwest since the 1960's, Madison is also home to a large University with one of the best agronomy departments in the country and not surprisingly the focal point for some of the finest cannabis our country has to offer (Muleboy has not seen pot with seeds in it since arriving in 1993!). Although not legal, possession is basically ignored and punished with a nominal $1 fine for under 128 grams. For the recording of 'Dab City' we procured 10 g plus of the finest concentrates we could lay our hands on and somewhere north of 120 g of cannabis flower. And recorded it on 2" analog tape over two sessions at Future Apple Tree Studio in Rock Island, Illinois. The Fall 2022 session is known as the Harvest Sessions and the February of 2023 session is known as the Propagation Sessions. The record is our second as a three piece and our second full length release for our label Heavy Psych Sounds and continues our journey into ultra stoned sludgey psychedelia. 'Dab City' is 100% recorded on tape, and is composed by 7 songs with a running time of almost 60 minutes of brand new stoned sludge heavy doomy riffs." Black vinyl version. LP $22 SKU:26266

CROOKED OAK -From Little Acorns Grow (70s folk) SAALE!-Label:SEELIE COURT Crooked Oak is one of the very few folk bands who imbued their songs with mystery, power and grandeur. The combination of Steve Evans’ sonorous voice and haunting Irish pipes convert the songs into a beautiful mystical experience. It might compare to the stunning ‘Wild and Beautiful’ by Silly Wizard, with that same captivating majesty of form. Very rare, the late great record dealer and collector Walter Geertsen, one of the founding dealers who helped shape the progressive rock market, considered this LP as one of his personal favourites, alongside COB "Moyshe Mc Stiff" and John St Field “Control." Very different LPs, but all with moments of aching, dark melancholia. So to describe Crooked Oak as ‘acid folk’ would be misleading, instead it is a deep, profound and beautiful work of art, lifted by superb vocals and wrapped in a sense of mystery. The band channel the music, tradition, heritage, and the magic that still courses through Sainted Albion’s blood soaked lands. In that sense it sits alongside Spriguns of Tolgus and Stone Angel as one of the most beautiful folk albums of all time. Steve Evans, the main force, died after living in Africa a few years ago. Issued with permission of Steve Evans widow. Quite traditional folk, but magically so. LP $26 SKU:24681

REVEREND BEAT-MAN & THE UNDERGROUND-IT'S A MATTER OF TIMELabel:VOODOO RHYTHM Reverend Beat-Man & the Underground locked themselves up in a chalet in the Swiss mountains for a week and wrote this album. Doom blues and nasty no-future-wave with synth folk trash. These are all first take recordings... no overdubs... everything is recorded live... and mixed a few weeks later by Matteo Bordin at Outside Inside Studio. This is doom blues or no-wave rock'n'roll from the Swiss mountains. LP $18 SKU:25414
RIALZU -U Rigiru-1978 HIDDEN GEM OF FRENCH PROG ROCK)Label:PQR-Disques Recorded and originally released in 1978, Rialzu’s first and only album is rightfully considered by savvy collectors as a hidden gem from the versatile French progressive rock scene. Firmly rooted in Magma-esque (“Köhntarkösz" period) dark matter, it deviates from Zeuhl towards a stultifying eeriness that is so bewilderingly fresh — and in a sense makes this a proto goth-rock masterpiece. Spearheaded by a mesmerizing interplay between baritone and soprano vocals, an assemblage of sinister instrumental twists and turns constantly undermines and postpones the possibility of catharsis. In between an ode to spectrality and vainly ruminating invocations, U Rigiru might as well have been composed by a group of Gregorian singers who are fans of Jacula. This is a truly eclectic masterpiece to be cherished by Zeuhl fans, as well as by Goth aficionados and Cold Meat Industry diehard fans. U Rigiru in Corsican is a circular endeavor, a self-referential leap from and into an existential angst-ridden enclave, enshrouded in a celestial abyss. Darkness baked right in to the name of the album. LP $24 SKU:25002
RINGS - ST 70s psych) w TWINK ltd ed 10” RARE TEST PRESSING Label:NDN The Rings were formed by Twink (real name John Alder) veteran of many psychedelic bands including Tomorrow and The Pink Fairies. While primarily a drummer he took on the role of front man in the band while Alan Lee Shaw played guitar and wrote the songs. Songs at the time included a mix of originals and Fairies numbers. Rod Latter played drums (later to join the Adverts). LP $15 SKU:26337
ROXY- ST -1973 Power pop GREG SHAW FAVE (sealed original, with drill hole) ORIG PRESS Label:Elektra This album should get its positive due for yielding some catchy and spirited pop songs.
Perhaps some of the overhype can be traced to Bomp magazine editor Greg Shaw who in the liner notes to 1973's Dudes album on CBS went overboard in his praise. There is a great composition on this self titled album by Roxy, and that is 'Yesterday's Song,' a pretty, eerie, moody, well sung, well constructed, well performed piece of music surrounded by other well-performed tunes which are competent, but not the next coming. LP $14 SKU:25536
SEOMPI- We have Waited -ORANGE WITH 12 PAGE BOOKLETLabel:LION “Huge buzz saw bass churns its way through this heavy-progressive tune, all stern Fripp-ian chord changes and driving insistency, amidst the primal guitar sludge.” — Julian Cope’s Head Heritage website LP $32 SKU:26825
SHOTGUN-Dallasian Rock- 70s blues rock Prev. unrel vintage studio tracks)Label:SHROOMANGEL (USA) A blend of hard hitting riff rock á la early Led Zeppelin and James Gang, with a guitar attack reminiscent of bands like Leafhound or Edgar Broughton Band. Tight, muscular, lean and mean urban blues rock riffage and soaring, soulful vocals, punchy bass and solid drumming make for a memorable set of songs that you won't soon forget. Shotgun had a successful career in and around Dallas, TX between 1974 and 1977, playing the club circuit and recording at the cities best studios. Sadly, nothing ever came of the recording sessions and Shotgun eventually morphed into VIZION, which released an album in 1980 that featured the vocals of Jan Houston. Finally after more than 38 years, Shotgun's long lost studio sessions are presented for the first time ever on LP as they were meant to be heard. The CD versions includes eleven additional bonus tracks. The most amazing thing about these tracks is how they remained on the shelf all these years! •Tight, muscular, lean and mean urban blues rock riffage. •Previously unreleased vintage studio tracks from the 1970's LP $18 SKU:19500
SNOWY DUNES- SATRUGI (ORANGE) (70s style rock)Label:OZIUM There was a time in the mid to late '70s when a modicum of mellowness and melody started creeping into heavy rock, it was a period that saw the rise of bands like Bad Company, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Boston and early Foreigner, bands who when called upon could rock like a cradle in a hurricane but also had in their locker songs that could tug at your heartstrings and didn't just rely on a riff to grab their listeners attention. Sweden's Snowy Dunes, Niklas Eisen (lead vocals, percussion, acoustic guitar), Christoffer Kingstedt (electric guitars, guitorchestration), Carl Oredson (bass, keyboards, mellotron) and Jonathan Wårdsäter (drums, percussion) do not exactly work from the same blueprint that those bands used to propel their careers into the stratosphere, Snowy Dunes' grooves are a little bit too gnarly and gritty, but they do bring to underground rock many of those same attributes of songcraft, melody and soulful gravitas that saw those other bands become staples of worldwide rock radio stations, attributes that can be found scattered quite liberally throughout the five songs that make up the band's third album 'Sastrugi.' LP $18 SKU:26269
SOUTAR, RICHARD- SATORI CIRCUS -touches of hard rock, blues, and county Label:VOID Richard Soutar was one of the earliest artists on the east coast to write, record, press and publish his own albums. In 1976, he self-released a trippy DIY gem of a record called "Lavender Daydreams,” followed by “Episodes" in 1979. Both albums eventually saw reissue as (long sold out) LP editions on Void Records, who are now going to release Soutar's latest recordings in a band setting, Satori Circus, which has touches of hard rock, blues, and county — as handled in Soutar’s idiosyncratic way. Stated influences on the new album include the Doors and Mississippi John Hurt — and maybe much more accurately, an Adyashanti lecture: “all the crazy scenes you go through like a madman running in circles and suddenly seeing it clearly because you’re in this very quiet sacred moment that descends unexpectedly on you. Some people call it Grace, others samadhi, others Satori,” as Soutar explains.
"Satori Circus is a collection of songs I wrote over the last fifteen years… and some go back farther,” says Soutar. "It included sounds that aren’t being created anymore but I still love and I feel others might still want to hear. I played with sound effects more. I also had access to a mellotron and a Hammond B3 and anything else I could think of. Satori Circus is my movement into digital. It was very difficult and I struggled with my 8-track digital. It was like working with gloves on for an analogue and tape guy. There were extra steps and a lot of multi-function buttons, but there was economy too.” Limited to a 400x copy pressing on black vinyl. LP $15 SKU:26687
THRILLS- N.A.F.I.T.C -Original Boston Punk 1977-1981 (Blondie style pop/punk) Label:DIONYSUS Punk-new wave band that certainly deserved to record at least one studio LP. Barb "Wire" Kitson's measured, resonant girl group-influenced lead vocals will generate inevitable (and reasonable) comparisons of the Thrills with Blondie. The recording date of this unlisted material is unidentified, but it's definitely a radio station performance on WBCN in Boston (including an interview segment), albeit with tinny sound quality. ~ Richie Unterberger, Rovi LP $10 SKU:19828
