Label News & Reviews

Lots of action in the press this week for our little darlings. First up the BONNEVILLES with an interview in AMERICAN BLUES SCENE:

“On Dirty Photographs Andrew McGibbon, Jr. (Guitar, Vocals) and Chris McMullan (Drums), share their love for gritty blues, primitive rock ‘n’ roll and Irish folk. If a young Van Morrison, Iron Butterfly, and Led Zeppelin were to cut a jam album produced by Jack White, with a portrait of Robert Johnson on the studio wall, one would begin to define the sound of The Bonnevilles.”

BRENT FROM GOSPELBEACH did a nice interview in NO DEPRESSION:

““Another Summer of Love is a rock-and-roll-band, song-oriented album,” he says. “That was the concept. Pacific Surf Line is more like a communal gathering of vibes and a celebration of West Coast rock and roll. Pacific Surf Line is like taking a train ride down the central coast, and Another Summer of Love is like driving a ’73 Challenger through the desert.”

And of course the BEECHWOOD train continues to roll, a great interview with Gordon from everyone’s favorite new band, in BIG TAKEOVER:

“Songs From The Land of Nod feature Beechwood’s vintage garage rock vibe reminiscent of a Nuggets-era group blasted to the present. Never shying from its passion for preserving rock’s raucous integrity, singer Gordon Lawrence remains true to the rebellious nature by choosing to challenge any notion that his group’s sound is more about survival than carefully orchestrated imagery. Alive Natural Sound is certainly the most appropriate outlet for Beechwood as the label continues preserving garage rock while recruiting a new generation of players to carry the proverbial torch.”

NEW ARRIVALS

ABSTRACTS - Hey Let’s Go Now (60s Brit invasion style - Label:BREAKAWAY They were one of the first bands to utilize a light show and besides their sole 45, their legacy contains a cache of unreleased period recordings, some of them made for Columbia Records in 1964. HORDE -Press Button Firmly (mid sixties rare garage)w 4 bonus tracks -Label:BREAK-A-WAY Rarest 60s garage album by North Carolina students from early 1967. Painstakingly remastered at KSL. Undoubtedly the most exciting mid sixties garage album to be recently discovered in the genre, is that by The Horde from North Carolina. The existence of this self produced album came to collectors ears and eyes only about a year ago. It was recorded more or less accidently in early 1967, released in a micro quantity of only 25 copies and among the local US garage albums of the decade it is one of the few eclectic examples with all the ingredients that makes it outstanding compared with the usual prep-school albums of the time. It contains a blend of exciting originals and well chosen, inspired covers, played in a raw, crude and frantic style. If ever it were true that the over-used assertion that a band's cover versions measured up to the originals, then it is true of The Horde. Why? These five 19-20 year old students from all over the United States did not only blaze a trail for 60s rock in then conservative North Carolina, they also had a general attitude that finds its origins in the young peoples mindset of the mid-sixties that put them outside of the local mainstream and gained them a sort of regional underground popularity. CD has 4 bonus tracks. CD $12 SKU:15346

JAGGED EDGE AKA THE OFF-SET-A CHANGE IS GONNA COME (60s garage psych) Label :BREAKAWAY Break-A-Way presents the bands first complete long player incl. their two sharp 45s and for the first time a fistful of six vintage demos. The LP has the bands 1966 all-time garage classic debut 45, "You Cant Keep A Good Man Down b/w How Shes Hurtin Me" and their second single release "A Change Is Gonna Come" b/w their wild psychedelic raga classic "Xanthia" recorded under the moniker "Off-Set". Additionally there are two alternate takes of single tracks and four completely unreleased 1965/66 recordings such as the psych/punker "Lies I Spoke" completely with psychy effects and a raga-esque break; the strong moody folkrocker "Look In Her Eyes" as well as "Reflections" and "Stop Feeling Sorry For Yourself", two tracks from the poppier side of the band. This collection proves : the Jagged Edge were way ahead of their times and finally carve out their slice of rock history. All tracks are painstakingly remastered for the garage connoisseurs listening pleasure CD $12 SKU:8383

MORAN, CHILO Y SU QUINTETO - TROMPETA PSICODELICA -RARE MEXICAN MINI LP SLV Label:VAM Though from the psychedelic era, this album's title, Trompeta Psicodelica, is a bit of a misnomer, as nothing on it sounds particularly psychedelic! What this album does offer in spades is incredibly groovy, spirited jazz and R&B tunes played by an incredibly tight quintet. It's infectious, upbeat fun that's sure to please at your next swingin' get together (just make sure you have both tequila and mezcal on hand)! CD $15 SKU:19687

OLIVERS - Beeker St The Complete Recordings 1964-71 plus 8 bonus tracks -Label:BREAK ORGAN DRENCHED FUZZFEST! The Olivers from Fort Wayne, Indiana are best known for their highly sought after 1967 Picture Cover 45 on Phalanx Records titled "I Saw What You Did" b/w "Beeker Street". The single got picked up by RCA Records for nationwide release and is today rated as one of the best and most exciting double sided major label garage 45s of the 1960s. A planned second single and LP release for RCA never happened. Long standing rumours of a "Lost LP" however, were confirmed when a one-of-a-kind reference acetate of an unreleased GRT album by The Olivers was found recently. The album, recorded after several line-up changes in early 1969 at Dove Studios in Minneapolis turned out to be a psychedelic jewel. Unjustifiably shelved 40 years ago, this amazing organ drenched fuzzfest proves that the band does not only deserve the plaudit "Indiana Sixties Rock Heroes", but also had the potential for the national breakthrough that never happened. The LP captures the incredible talent and versatility of the Olivers and adds an essential piece of vinyl to their discography. A four-page LP sized insert documents the band's career as told by its original members and a cache of unseen photos completes the band's 1963 - 70 history - See more at: https://www.lpcdreissues.com/item/beeker-street-c... Includes the whole Lost Dove Sessions LP + their RCA single + six other tracks CD $12 SKU:14793

SYNDICATE, THE - The Egyptian Thing : L.A. Garage 1965(in-depth insert written by Ugly Things' Mike Stax with a cache of photos)Label: BREAK-A-WAY The story of the Syndicate runs along similar lines to countless other rock’n’roll bands in the mid-sixties. They got together to have fun, made some noise on the local teen scene, recorded a couple of singles, made a vain grasp for the brass ring, then vanished into thin air—all within the space of two magical years: 1965 and 1966. What makes the Syndicate special, though, is those two hard-to-find singles. “My Baby’s Barefoot” and “The Egyptian Thing”, both released in 1965 are two of the most savage, hot-wired blasts of Punk R&B mayhem ever etched into wax, while the flipside of “The Egyptian Thing,” “She Haunts You” showed the group were equally adept at moody, minor-key material. The “Egyptian Thing” album presents the band’s four A's & B's alongside four unreleased, same-calibre tracks from the same period, and an earlier 45 by the Ris-Kays featuring Syndicate front man Bill Rash. An in-depth insert written by Ugly Things' Mike Stax with a cache of photos compiles the legacy of a band, whose 45s are among the top wanted items in their genre, making this release the ultimate Syndicate collection and an unforgettable garage punk adventure.CD $12 SKU:15963

The CD comes with a 12 page booklet including a detailed history of the band with photos from the member’s scrapbook. At last, here is the long overdue legacy of one of the Northwest’s finest psychedelic bands.CD $12 SKU:11847

DOWN AT THE NIGHTCLUB-Vol 1(garage, surfbeat and film noir pastiche)- Label:DOWN AT THE NIGHTCLUBA garage, surfbeat and film noir pastiche on CD, featuring screaming guitars, smoking bass, torn vocal chords and sweet organs. That is 'Down At The Nightclub'. On Vol. 1 you will find a collection of the finest Dutch bands currently around, including The Black Marble Selection, The Reaction, Holy Joe & The Alcoholites, The Bunny Bonanzas, The Surfbeat Club, The Miners Of Muzo, The Malbehavers and De Stekkers. COMP LP $19 SKU:19677

RABBLE RABBLE- Composure (PSYCH)-Label:EYE VYBE RECORDS (USA) Rabble Rabble spent nearly a decade building a heavy reputation for raucous basement shows where any attendee will inevitably leave the room drenched in beer and twice as drunk as before. The addition of Kieterang See Jru (also of Strychnine, Plastic Crimewave Syndicate) in 2013 effectively spiked the band's punch with a healthy dose of LSD, and soon their live shows became full on psychedelic space trips, infusing the heavy, reckless garage punk they built themselves on with krautrock rhythms, proto metal edge and a dash of Smashing Pumpkin-esque guitar leads. Composure is a great finale to the trip that was Rabble Rabble. Limited to 300 copies, 12 min/side; plays at 45 rpm; includes lyric insert; pressed on random marble swirl vinyl by gotta groove records. LP $15 SKU:19484

T2-IT'LL ALL WORK OUT IN BOOMLAND(UK)Label:ACME LION The rise of power trio T2 in 1970 was rapid: important open-air festivals; headlining residencies at the Marquee Club; appearances at virtually every major venue in London. Then their debut album was released; they seemed poised for a breakthrough. As the band recalled, they were playing the Marquee club, with John Lennon and Jimi Hendrix hanging out backstage, which was all to the good. But people were coming forward saying, 'we can't find your album anywhere.' In short order, the band fell apart. Still, their sole Decca album has become well established as an all-time classic amongst progressive and psychedelic music collectors—even the techno and DJ crowds. The fact that it has done so without hype is a testament to the innate quality of the music. The album is packed with melodic acoustic passages and frenzied fuzz guitar workouts, not to mention acid-trip induced lyrical and musical content. At the epicenter is the incredibly deft drumming of vocalist Peter Dunton (Neon Pearl, Please, the Flies), who rides the shifting sands of the trio's dense playing with ease and dexterity. By album's end, you’ve been lulled by the band’s soft side, and pummeled by their heavy side. Equal parts amazingly controlled prog, at other times the heaviest damn stuff anyone had heard c. 1970, this is truly a perfect record.•the perfect example of an album that should not be forgotten—an album that must not be forgotten!
•40th anniversary edition with insert. LP $21 SKU:12802

CIPOLLINA,JOHN - Raven (Quicksilver Messenger Service 1976)-Label:ACADIA The legendary guitarist from Quicksilver Messenger Service recorded this album in 1976, shortly after returning from a UK tour with Welsh band Man. The great thing about John Cipollina is his guitar playing. But the other great thing was his willingness to play rock and roll. He was not concerned about his status as a star but clearly was a musician who liked the idiom and liked to perform and liked to do so with other kindred spirits. Sharing his wealth of talent is the mark of a special man, of a man with humility and a generous spirit and these attributes are clearly in evidence in these performances. “Raven” is described as Cippolina's version of a big band and the album is a testament to that idea. There is a tightness in the performances which shows the familiarity of the material and sense of sharing. It is clear too that the band members shared a closeness which is more than friendliness, a sort of spirituality which is very special. An enjoyable album as a historical record, as an example of John Cipollina’s playing, as a part of the Bay Area musical legacy, and as the work of a rock 'n 'roll band. Extensive notes on the story of “Raven” and the trials and tribulations of bringing it to fruition. All songs have been remastered from the original tapes. CD $10 SKU:18989

FREEBORNE- Peak Impressions (1966 psych folk collectable)-Label:ARF ARF One of the best and most collectable records in psych rock. Formed in 1966 as an offshoot of two Boston-area garage bands (The Missing Links and the Indigos), the Freeborne have remained something of an enigma; avoiding both the limelight and the eventual stigma associated with the “Bosstown” fad. Their eclectic musical vision, which incorporated complex musical textures, sophisticated composition, creative studio effects, elements of jazz, rock, blues, and free-form sounds, all create a truly ambitious period piece from the turbulent day-glow Sixties. During their prolific two-year lifespan, the Freeborne performed constantly throughout the New England region and in August of 1967 opened for the Velvet Underground at the Boston Tea Party. They made the connection with local music impresario Barry Richards who secured a record deal with the New York-based Monitor label as their sole rock act. The band was booked at CBS Studio in NYC which resulted in a remarkably well-produced, ten-song audio document of their full-blown imaginative compositions—an impressive and ambitious feat for a quintet comprised of high school seniors. While numerous unauthorized reissues of Peak Impressions have appeared over the years, this substantial upgrade is taken directly from the original master-tapes and includes six bonus and enlightening alternate mono mixes. This quality 78-minute CD edition comes packaged in an informative 24-page booklet chock full of pictures, memorabilia, and liner notes by noted archivist Gary Burns culled from insightful interviews with all five members of the ensemble. “…full of the acid imagery which typified the Bosstown sound in 1968.” —Max Waller/Fuzz Acid & Flowers. LINDGREN, ERIK - Sound on Sound (Brian Wilson style-Label:ARF ARF Long before making his mark on the independent music scene as a member of Birdsongs of the Mesozoic (among other projects), Erik Lindgren was writing and recording his own music as a teenage one-man band. “Sound on Sound” presents 79 minutes-worth of material he recorded in 1973 and 1974, on which he played almost all of the instruments. Lindgren was obviously heavily influenced by Brian Wilson's output in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and much of this has the sort of wistful, fragile, almost bewildered feeling of the work Wilson did in the years immediately following 1967. Other obvious reference points—they're mentioned in the liner notes—are the early Pete Townshend solo recordings, Paul McCartney, Todd Rundgren, and Michael Brown of the Left Banke. Lindgren didn't have the melodic brilliance of those composers… and these aren't exactly polished recordings, some of the rhythms betraying their origins as one-man overdubs. Still the collection has a basic lyricism that makes it engaging in its naivete. The CD comes with an extensive 12 page booklet crammed full of photos, notes by Lindgren, and a forward by his collaborator/Boston rock historian Eric Van. Lindgren has amassed a boat-load of eclectic musical credentials including his mid ’70s mod psych power pop band TNT, pre-Mission of Burma band Moving Parts, and his progressive ensemble Birdsongs Of The Mesozoic. As Lindgren says: “This contains seriously juvenile demo original material that I recorded in '73 - 74. I recently read a review which compared it favorably to Patron Saints, and it's musically all over the map. It's pretty amateur but musically fairly ambitious. CD $10 SKU:19627

MASAHIKO SATOH & SOUNDBREAKERS -Amalgamation (JAPANESE 70S PSYCH)Label:DRONE SYNDICATE (SWEDEN) Number seven on the Japrocksampler Top 50, available again for the first time in over a decade! "This preposterous piece of psychedelic avant-jazz sounds like the work of aliens, each with only one foot in our universe. Propelled by cacophonous brassy blasts, volleys of machine-gunning, ecstatically 'Light Fantastic' rhythms and moments of Teo Macero-style 'Mixing Concrète' (during which the whole track becomes consumed by waves of new sound); the result is the most singular mash-up of inappropriate sounds any listener is ever likely to hear. Over two side-long tracks, shaman Masahiko Satoh sends us through a sonic mind-field, baffling our senses and our sense of gravity. Located at the centre of Amalgamation's giddy sessions was the frantic Detroit drumming of hard-bop legend Louis Hayes, whose role it was to play the bubbling ever unfolding fundament on which Masahiko Satoh's whole trip proceeded, as though the rhythm section were a magic carpet magically pulled out from under the feet of the other performers. Over this rhythmic shaking, Satoh scattered Hammond organ around and ring-modulated* his Fender Rhodes piano solos (*Roland built three especially for the record), added lead guitar from 'super session' legend Kimio Mizutani, trumpets and sax from Mototeru Takagi, scat singing from Kayoko Itoh, and strings from the Wehnne Strings Consort." (Japrocksampler) CD $10 SKU:19032

MERKIN - Music From Merkin Manor (rare 72 Utah psych)-Label:GEAR FAB The rare and much sought-after 1972 LP from this group of Utah musicians. All 10 songs from the LP plus 2 rare and unreleased tracks from BYU in 1969 and solo material from Rocky Baum- 13 tracks in all!! CD $10 SKU:18720

MICHAEL ANGELO - DBL CD w S/T" (Guinn Sessions) + "Sorcerer's Dream" + "Nuts" -Label:LION Stunning work from Michael Angelo – a little-known singer/songwriter from the Kansas City scene of the late 70s – one with a style that's totally great, but way too off the era's chronological expectations to get much notice at the time! Michael's music has a real late 60s vibe – some of the trippier folk modes of someone like Donovan, but mixed with the more complete songwriting of an artist like Nilsson or some of the hipper LA writers of the late 60s – all recorded in this laidback, understated way – especially for the 70s – with acoustic guitar most strongly in the mix, and a few other light rhythm touches and keyboards. The production's sharper than folk, but not much more so – and the music here is a great reminder that while we can look at the rock and roll timeline, and think that the punk explosion of the mid 70s was changing everything at once – out in the hinterlands there were still folks like Angelo who were dedicated to refining an older craft. The CD features a huge amount of material – the full original self-titled album, more tracks from those sessions, and a full second album recorded around the same time. 32 tracks on 2CDs, with lots of notes too – and titles that include "Field Of Lonely Eyes", "Future", "Journey To Find Who We Are", "Russian Lament", "Nubian Queen", "This Is The Night", "Love Is Too High", "Spirits Of Mercury", and "SOS Titanic CD $15 SKU:16805

MOCK DUCK - TEST Record (60s fuzzed out rarity)Label:GEAR FAB Well, we don't know what else to call this project because there were only 14 acetates made of their live recordings at The Village Bistro in Vancover, B.C. in October 1968. Butnever fear, for we have unearthed the master Tapes form those sessions plus a lot more unreleased live and Studio recordings from this same period, including the 12 minute long studio session of June, 1968. Rising from the ashes of such famous Vancouver bands as The United Empire Loyalists, Cement City Cowboys and Six Cylinder, this band played a style of music that crossed between a fuzzed out John Coltrane sound to one of hard driving rock with Farfisa organ and blazing guitars and hard-edged vocals. Includes all their 45s releases plus other unreleased studio tracks. Don't pay $2,000 for an original copy of the acetate….just buy this release!!! CD $10 SKU:19301

OLIVERS - Beeker St The Complete Recordings 1964-71 plus 8 bonus tracks -Label:BREAK Includes the whole Lost Dove Sessions LP + their RCA single + six other tracks CD $12 SKU:14793

SOFT MACHINE- Turns On Vol 1 &2 (1967) DOUBLE CDLabel:VOICEPRINT (England) Double disc combines both individual "Turns On" volumes, in new packaging. Volume 1 is a vital collection of archival live Soft Machine recordings from 1967, and (unlike “Turns On Vol. 2”) includes some studio recordings. Robert Wyatt's drumming is nearly miraculous, and Mike Ratledge's organ is at its daring and explorative best. Fans will appreciate some of these recordings, especially the first 'Clarence in Wonderland'; the 13-minute 'Hope for Happiness'; and Wyatt's 'Lullaby Letter.' Recording information: European Studio (1967); Middle Earth And Speakeasy Clubs, London, England (1967); UK Studio (1967). As for Vol. 2, this is not meant as an introduction to the band for novices, but lovers of the Soft Machine will be blown away by the alternate versions on the disc; they are even more daring than the official releases. The tracks on this disc are drawn from three live performances: tracks 1-5 are from Amerstdam, 10 December 1967; track 6 is from the Middle Earth Club in London, 10 November 1967; tracks 7-14 are from Col Ballroom, Davenport, Iowa, 11 August 1968. SYNDICATE, THE- The Egyptian Thing : L.A. Garage 1965( in-depth insert written by Ugly Things' Mike Stax with a cache of photos) Label: BREAK-A-WAY The story of the Syndicate runs along similar lines to countless other rock’n’roll bands in the mid-sixties.

COOL AID BENEFIT ALBUM- 1969 jam w 3 discs(2xCD + DVD)Label:REGENERATOR Originally released on LP in 1970, this amazing album captures both the innocence and the time period of Vancouver's Local music scene in the late 60's. Some of the city's top bands of the day appear on this album including Mock Duck, Papa Bear's Medicine Show, Hydro Electric Streetcar, Route 9, Blacksnake Blues Band and Spring. The original LP has always been a collector's item and the re-issue has been in the works for a while now. Back in 1969, there was a house in Vancouver that existed solely as a home for Hippies and homeless youth, known to locals simple as "the Cool Aid House." It operated mainly from donations and funding from the government; when that funding stopped, the house was in danger of closing. Top area of bands united (in 1970) and offered their songs for a benefit album—and since the local music scene produced some of the best bands in Canada, the album has long been a much sought-after collector's item. What no one knew was that the original LP was intended as a double-album set: contractual problems forced the Cool Aid House founder, John Walsch, to remove tracks by the great Mother Tucker's Yellow Duck—tracks that are now restored to this package, along with the remainder of what would have been the original second LP. So, the end result is this three-disc package, jam packed with tracks by the city's top bands of the day, including Mock Duck, Papa Bear's Medicine Show, Hydro Electric Streetcar, Route 9, Blacksnake Blues Band and Spring, as first released; it also has unreleased tracks by Mother Tucker's Yellow Duck, Spring, Greydon Moore and Leo Jung, a band called Nancy, Blacksnake Blues Band, Route Nine (listed on the tape box as 'Root' 9), Hydro Electric Streetcar and Mock Duck. Both CDs are taken from the original multi-track studio tapes, and sound incredible. The third disc is a DVD which has footage from the archives of CBC Television: see Cool Aid proprietor Elmore Smalley in historical newsreel footage along with Hippies and other residents of the Cool Aid House; the DVD also features original film footage of Mock Duck, Papa Bears Medicine Show, Mother Tucker's Yellow Duck, and Spring performing on CBC's Let's Go show in 1968-1969, freshly transferred for this project, with remastered audio. PSYCHEDELIC ROCK MEXICAN- VA ( Stunning heavy psychedelic rock from 1971 ) Paper mini slv replica - Label:VAM RECORDS Stunning heavy psychedelic rock from 1971 by three virtually unknown Mexican groups! Four tracks from the amazing hard-driving and funky EP by Los Papos (released by Orfeon in 1971); four previously unreleased tracks by Los Free Minds, and the only two extant songs by Polvo, an amazing heavy psychedelic rock group from Nuevo Laredo. Los Free Minds was a Mexican Psychedelic Rock trio, formed in 1970 by Jorge Aguilera (guitar, vocals), Jesús Perez [El Jali] and drummer Ernesto Ontiveros. Although invited, the band could not take part in the legendary rock event the Festival de Avándaro held in September 1971; after that, rock music was banned for many years in Mexico, which killed the careers of many bands. In the same year, shortly before their disbandment, Los Free Minds recorded an LP for Orfeón, but only four tracks from it were released as an EP, leaving tracks in the can which debut here. BITTER SEEDS/THE ROCK SHOP, THE- State of Your Mind ( pioneering '60s San Francisco garage psych band , our-page insert with liner notes, photos, and memorabilia ) -Label:OUT-SIDER (SPAIN) 'The Bitter Seeds were one of the pioneering bands from the early Monterey music scene. Lead by flashy guitar player Leonard “Pooch” Paschini, they were active from 1966 to 1970, gigging regularly at such legendary venues as Bull’s Eye Tavern, Longshoreman’s Hall, Matrix, Fillmore, etc, sharing stage with famous bands like Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Iron Butterfly or Steppenwolf. In 1967, The Bitter Seeds recorded their only 45, issued under The Rock Shop name, as they wanted to avoid confusion with The Seeds. 'State of your mind' b/w 'Is that your halo' was released on the Rowena label; it’s a brutal garage-psych double sider. The following year the group recorded four studio tracks which have remained unreleased until now. These are perfect examples of the transition from R&B-garage to early psychedelic sounds which many San Francisco ballroom bands experienced at the time. An exciting find for any lover of lost West Coast psychedelic sounds. For this Bitter Seeds / Rock Shop retrospective, we’ve also unearthed some wild live recordings from 1966 with good sound quality. And amazing document which had been buried until now. Four page insert with liner notes and lot of photos / memorabilia. Remastered sound. “…“Is That Your Halo” is an intensely menacing punker that rumbles into Yardbirds' rave-up territory at the bridge where incendiary leads battle with rasping harmonica; “State Of Your Mind” is an almost equally powerful acid-punker - truly a double-whammy of a 45…” —Fuzz, Acid & Flowers. ROBBIE AND THE WEREWOLFLabel:GEAR FAB OK, so here we have one of the weirdest and most bizarre albums ever recorded. Pretty much unsurpassed in its level of incredible strangeness, this ultra-rare album from the early sixties (1964) California coffee- house circuit is like no other. Robbie is a folksinger of the frantic variety with a fetish for monsters. This inspired some of the most bizarre songs ever committed to vinyl. It was at The Wale Back in LA one heady night in 1964, that Robbie's solo act was captured for posterity by engineer Reice Hamel, now renowned as a pioneer of live recording techniques. The patrons lapped up Robbie's act although some of the more faint-hearted may have experienced a frisson of terror as he prowled amongst them, sweat dripping from his beard, laughing maniacally, during his atmospheric 'Dracula' number. With his long red hair and matching beard, Robbie was a striking performer with a manic stage presence, acting out his songs as much as singing them. His set consisted of his original songs and uniquely reworked versions of folk standards, played on a beat-up twelve-string guitar. Robbie would later join The Brain Train in 1967 and his wife Barbara “Sandi” Robison would become the lead vocalist for The Peanut Butter Conspiracy (PBC) . Featuring liner notes from Alan Brackett of The PBC and UK collector extraordinaire Gray Newell. LP $12 SKU:19449

SHOTGUN -Dallasian Rock(Tight, urban blues rock Previously unrel vintage studio tracks from the 1970's) - Label:SHROOMANGEL (USA) A blend of hard hitting riff rock á la early Led Zeppelin and James Gang, with a guitar attack reminiscent of bands like Leafhound or Edgar Broughton Band. Tight, muscular, lean and mean urban blues rock riffage and soaring, soulful vocals, punchy bass and solid drumming make for a memorable set of songs that you won't soon forget. Shotgun had a successful career in and around Dallas, TX between 1974 and 1977, playing the club circuit and recording at the cities best studios. Sadly, nothing ever came of the recording sessions and Shotgun eventually morphed into VIZION, which released an album in 1980 that featured the vocals of Jan Houston. Finally after more than 38 years, Shotgun's long lost studio sessions are presented for the first time ever on LP as they were meant to be heard. The CD versions includes eleven additional bonus tracks. The most amazing thing about these tracks is how they remained on the shelf all these years! •Tight, muscular, lean and mean urban blues rock riffage. •Previously unreleased vintage studio tracks from the 1970's LP $19 SKU:19500
