United States Of Existence were early pioneers of the American neo-psychedelic movement, formed in Baltimore in 1978 with a deep devotion to the sounds of the late 60s. Using vintage gear and analog recording techniques, they crafted an authentic psychedelic sound that caught the attention of Bomp! founder Greg Shaw and led to appearances on landmark compilations like Battle Of The Garages.

After decades as a cult footnote of the 1980s neo-psychedelic revival, the United States of Existence return with Lavender Glory Trip—their first new album since their early recordings. Once separated by geography, careers, and time, the band’s unlikely reunion was sparked by a rediscovered unfinished song from drummer Gary Schwartz. What began as a solo project evolved into a full-band collaboration, made possible by modern recording technology and renewed creative chemistry.

Lavender Glory Trip blends classic elements like Mellotron, sitar, and fuzz guitar / bass with expansive homemade production. Drawing partly from archival fragments and partly from new material, the album embraces experimentation, spontaneity, and even surrealist techniques. Its title and artwork reflect a collage-like approach, merging contrasting moods and themes, including commentary on conflict and human cycles, resulting in an album that honors their psychedelic roots (Electric Prunes, Blues Magoos, Strawberry Alarm Clock, Association…) while pushing into new sonic territory (sunshine / baroque / harmony pop…)
