NEW ARRIVALS

BATORS, STIV and the Dead Boys - Not That Way Anymore- 1980 Australia pressing with cardboard SLV. Label:PHANTOM VERY RARE! MINT VINYL, cover slight wear. Originally 800 copies were pressed but 500 were lost on the way to Bomp Records in Los Angeles via ship.Only 300 copies remained. Sleeve states 'Stiv Bators and the Dead Boys' although Stiv was the only former Dead Boy on this record.TRIVIA - [from label owner]: the reason it was released as by Stiv Bators and the Dead Boys, is because an Aussie promoter was going to tour the band here, but he wouldn't take the risk of doing so without the Dead Boys name tagged on - thus Stiv agreed to tour under that name...and we agreed to release this 45 on the back of the tour. On the very SAME day as this was released [20 July 1980] the promoter called us to say he'd decided to pull out of the tour. And thus, the likelihood of us selling a 45 that had already been out here on import, was minimal. I spoke to Greg Shaw about the whole scenario and he agreed to buy 500 of the 800 run we pressed, at cost price admittedly, to alleviate our perceived 'burden'. Those 500 were lost in transit to the U.S., via ship, and have never surfaced. Richard Allen, who a few years later came up with most of the iconic early 100% Mambo surfwear designs - farting dog, etc - designed the cover of this 45 - NOT that he's credited.) 45 RPM $75 SKU:22599

These are the last few copies , about to be out of print forever and ever! Unlike the Pebbles series – which has been released over an extended period of time by several record labels and in a variety of formats – the 23 albums in the Highs in the Mid-Sixties series were released only as LPs and in a short time span of 1983 to 1986 (in fact, the 23rd album is the only 1986 release). This is one of the fastest series of releases among garage rock compilation albums. By way of example, the 28 LPs in the Pebbles series were released between 1978 and 1988, and the 20 LPs in the Rubble series were released between 1984 and 2002. Even the first 23 albums in the original Now That's What I Call Music series (i.e., the United Kingdom albums) – the most massive group of compilation albums ever created – were released between 1983 and 1992. Highs in the Mid-Sixties, Volume 5 and Highs in the Mid-Sixties, Volume 6 are earlier volumes in the series featuring bands from this state. One of Iggy Pop's first band was the Iguanas; the band was formed in 1963 when he was still in high school, and he was the band's drummer. This previously unreleased track comes from early demo tapes and is evidently the first song recorded where he was the songwriter. AIP Records has also released a series of compilation albums of unreleased Iggy Pop material named after this band, called the Iguana Chronicles. This album was released in 1985 as an LP by AIP Records (as #AIP-10028). COMP LP $35 SKU:7982

THURSDAY’S CHILDREN -1965-1969 Retrospective of Texas garage band - ORIG 1989 TEST PRESSING VOXX 200.052 Label:VOXX OUT OF PRINT EXCEPT AS THIS TEST. Direct from the BOMP WAREHOUSE, Originally known as The Druids when they formed in Houston, Texas in 1964 they changed their name to Thursdays Children during 1965. The first 45 was quite an accessible punk affair, whilst their second and third were more British-influenced. After one final and disappointing rock and roll 45, drugs and the draft had accounted for many of the band and they regrouped as The Pointing Hand Group. This retrospective album on Voxx includes material spanning their career from 1965-69 with 45s, unissued and live material. It's the best source for their recorded output. -- [Vernon Joynson, Fuzz Acid & Flowers]. COMP LP $25 SKU:22605
