BATORS, STIV- Disconnected (Collectors edition w bonus tracks and alt cover)-Label:BOMP In December of 1980, Bomp released this groundbreaking album by Stiv Bators, recently (though never permanently) departed from The Dead Boys. It followed a series of singles for Bomp on which he had tried, with Frank Secich and various other players, to extend his range to include the kind of pop-garage that was his first musical inspiration. CD $5 SKU:16727

HYPSTRZ - Live At The Longhorn 1979 (high energy garage ) -Label:BOMP Records The complete 1979 live performances at the Longhorn, released for the first time on CD, entirely remastered and with liner notes. The release features their LP 'Hypsterization!', originally released on Voxx in 1980, as well as the band's first EP, plus an array of previously unreleased material; a total of 37 tracks on brilliant high-energy garage. "A high-speed hurricane of mid-'60s Brit snot and MC5 revolutionary rama lama. Along with the Chesterfield Kings on the East Coast and the Crawdaddys in San Diego, the Hypstrz were the first to mine a fogotten motherlode of hopeless obsucre 45s dropped worldwide by hapless teen combos" - City Pages CD $5 SKU:4324

NIKKI AND THE CORVETTES - ST- Label:BOMP Records Garage pop goddesses. Innocent 60's inspired fun. Nikki had to be the hardest working gal in punk rock: with her girl backup singers and tasty band, she toured & played hundreds of shows every year. Her music was uncomplicated, rockabilly-based, and full of her fun-loving personality. Her band was always in top form, led by ex-Romantic Peter James. This CD, from 1980, is their testament, and includes bonus tracks, rare photos and more. A Bomp classic. CD $10 SKU:2063

PANDORAS, THE - It's About Time (Psych fuzz goddesses- TEMP OUT OF STOCK Label:VOXX Psychedelic fuzz goddesses The Pandoras were the first, and in many ways the most original, of L.A.'s garage revival bands. They transformed the traditional garage sound of their "Pebbles" favorites into a vehicle for an all-girl band in wild day-glo fashions, openly sexual, assertive and outrageous in a time when girl bands were expected to be more like the demure Bangles. This is their landmark Voxx debut album. CD $10 SKU:2132

BEYOND THE CALICO WALL - VA (60s psych) Label:VOXX The good people who put together this compilation set out to accomplish no less daunting a task than collecting the most bizarre and extreme underground psychedelic music recorded in the 1960's, and, for the most part, the choices seem to be right on the money. The collection starts off with "The Trip" by Park Avenue Playground, a song that bursts out of the gate with an explosion of fuzz guitar, organ, and mad siren-like oscillating effects, coming at you from all directions, seemingly. Next up is "Suzie's gone" by Afterglow, definitely one of the weirdest singles ever. The singer moans "so...my...world...is...messed...up!" in the most detached voice possible over a staccato organ and drum part, leading to a guitar solo that soon collapses into no recognizable conventional song structure. No less amazing is "Mt. Olympus" by The Flower Power, which starts off as an innocuous and somewhat introspective sounding piece until a wild heavily chorused guitar break, which only slightly warns you of the totally anarchic feedback and free-form noise ending -- which goes on for over a minute in a 3:40 single! Then you get a bizarre sci-fi/horror tale in "The pulse" by Burritt Bradley, and an incredible reading of The Electric Prunes' "I had too much to dream last night" by Rasputin and the Mad Monks, with weird proto-techno sound effects, backwards vocals, and production effects making the backing track fade in and out, creating a disturbing sensory assault. Other highlights include "An experiment in terror" by The Greek Fountains, which is a strange polyrhythmic instrumental, and "Up in my mind" by The Spontaneous Generation, which surely has to rank as one of the most aggressive 60's psych records ever made, with waves of vibrato guitar and insistent wah wah riffing. Also worthwhile is "The electronic insides and metal complexion that make up Herr Dr. Krieg," by The Riders of the Mark, which musically isn't quite as strange as its title, but comes close! The weirdness factor decreases somewhat as the c.d. progresses, and a sloppy but straightforward cover of "In a gadda da vida" by Six Feet Under makes for a pretty uninteresting closer, but the good material here makes this an essential purchase. Buy it if you like psychedelia, experimental or Incredibly Strange Music. Robert Schell (Townsville, Texas)

SWAMP DOGG - Rat On! BLACK vinyl - Label:ALIVE RAT ON!” (1971), was ranked as having one of the top ten worst album covers of all time, an achievement that Swamp Dogg is rightfully proud of. Vocally, Swamp Dogg sounds like a cross between General Johnson (of Chairmen of the Board) and Van Morrison; as a songwriter, he’s his own man. With the exception of Sly Stone, no other soul men of the period were investigating controversial topics with such infectious musicality and good humor. – AMG LP $14 SKU:15021

THOMAS, IRMA - In Between Tears BLACK VINYL with liner note flier. LAST COPIES! -Label:ALIVE Produced by legendary soul singer songwriter/producer Jerry Williams Jr., aka Swamp Dogg, and featuring Duane Allman on two songs, Irma Thomas‘ "In Between Tears" is finally back on vinyl, lovingly remastered, and restored to its original cover for the first time since 1973. The CD digipack version also includes her second single for Canyon records, as well as newly penned liner notes. "A lost classic that captures deep soul at its most poignant and resonant." -- AMG"Initially released in 1973 on the homegrown Fungus Records label, it has remained well under the radar for the past 40 years. It is one of the finest examples of early '70s soul I have ever heard." -- Blinded By Sound

CALLAHAN, EDDIE - False Ego ( rare 1976 California private press gem w. heavy mini-LP style cover, Japanese woven inner sleeves, and a double-sided insert ) Ltd ed -Label:TIME LAG high quality reissue of very rare 1976 California private press gem, originally issued on the Ocean label. “First ever reissue, deluxe and legit, of this quite rare 1976 southern California private press gem. It's a strange, fantastical, and totally distinct album that will have you sucked in almost instantly. This one is extremely hard to pin down - think something like a loner powerpop rock opus, heavy on the psychedelic production values, studio dreamer vibes, and timeless hooks. The songs are unusual but infectious, the production is breezy and expansive but not polished, and the vocals are constantly morphing yet always effective. In fact, the hazy chameleon-like personality here might be one of the best things going for the album, as not only does Eddie seem to be channeling a handful of different vocalists, but the whole mood and sound shifts around unexpectedly as well. The questioning, self-reflective lyrics add yet another layer of mystique to the trip. Musically the mellowest points hover around gorgeous, airy, rural-tinged, floating psychedelia with beautifully layered acoustic & electric guitars, tinkling keys, and lush mellotron. When things pick up they're truly rocking, with tight punchy rhythms and Eddie firing off big chunky guitar riffs like he's playing to the packed stadium behind his third eye. All the studio tricks at hand are put to full use with sweet Leslie guitar effects, special tones, backwards solos, elaborate multi-tracked sound fields, and some of the most wonderfully bent synthesizer soloing ever laid to tape. The perfectly strange and beautiful cover art seals the deal. False Egos is mastered from the artist's well preserved and great sounding master tapes. LP $27 SKU:16512

CANCER MOON - Flock, Colibri, Oil 180 GRAM TRIPPY STONER ROCK -Label:MUNSTER 180-gram vinyl; remastered for this reissue; presented in facsimile gatefold sleeve. "Delayed due to their unusual and ill-fated relationship with the Polar label, Cancer Moon's second album arrived in 1992. The dubious dealings of their previous company had significantly increased the band's prejudices with regards to the music industry. The intimacy of the bubble in which they lived triggered their suspicions towards label owners, bigwigs and anyone who tried to intervene in the nourishing and destiny of one of their children, their songs... band members Jon Zamarripa and Josetxo Anitua took charge of a quick and cheap production work in which they sacrificed the bigger clarity of their previous album for a meatier sound. That sonic hyper rawness stressed the idea among music journalists that Cancer Moon were the fathers of Spanish noise. But they weren't such thing, or at least they weren't aware of it. The truth was that Zamarripa was that type of instinctive and visceral guitar player, more magical than skilled, who had been brought up on mid-70s proto-punk. He would create a tangled mess when playing which was utilised on this album more than ever before, which resulted in that sonic wall that somebody described as noise. Listening to the album again, I'm especially surprised that the overused psychedelia tag comes to mind more than I remembered, a lot more than with their previous and next records. Even though I used to roll up joints for them while they were crafting these songs at Zamarripa's house, I didn't remember them sounding so trippy. And as memory often traces coherent connections, I've automatically remembered delirious listening sessions at night with Jon and some other friend when we would inevitable end up playing Screaming Trees lying on the floor, when our bodies had given in to the weight of the night, and we would float away night after night thanks to their hypnotic rock. Although we liked the whole Seattle sound and loved Mudhoney, our favourites were always the Trees, whom you'll clearly recognize in these grooves. And forgive me for daring to make a comparison to such a unique band, but even in the moments when Cancer Moon sounded more similar, they always produced a distinctive element, which was Josetxo's wonderful voice: powerful, persuasive, in total symbiosis with those contortionist guitars which were such a feature of the album." --Fernando Gegúndez LP $19 SKU:16865

CAPTAIN BEEFHEART - Full Moon - Hot Sun Live in Kansas-Label:KEYHOLE (UK) 180-gram LP. Includes insert. Following the collapse of the original Magic Band in early 1974, Captain Beefheart swiftly assembled an all-new line-up to promote his controversial 1974 Unconditionally Guaranteed LP. Comprising Fuzzy Fuscaldo and Dean Smith (guitar), Del Simmons (sax, flute), Michael Smotherman (keyboards), Paul Uhrig (bass), and Ty Grimes (drums), they played in a markedly more straightforward style, in keeping with Beefheart's stated ambition to "hug the world." This fine gig, live from the Cowtown Ballroom, Kansas City, MO, was taped for broadcast on KUDL-FM radio on April 22, 1974, and is presented here in its entirety together with contemporaneous notes and rare photos. CARGO - Front Side, Back Side ( Canadian 60s psych , One bonus track. * two-page LP-sized insert with short bio, photos and lyrics 180 gram -Label:ANAZITISI This is the first ever reissue. Toronto, Canada based psychedelic quartet began as the Prophets in the mid-60's. Then they renamed The City Suite and finally came the Cargo name. As Cargo they released two LPs and two 7" singles before they split up in 1971. Dreamy psychrock with some mild-jazzy atmospheric improvisations and a couple of spoken mayhem freak-out passages coming between the tracks. Very rare LP, originally released in 1969 on the Merv Buchanan's Trend label, also responsible for the Bent Wind LP. Original basement recording was not a hi-fi one (think of the Bent Wind LP) but also was impossible for Merv to locate the original master-tapes. This reissue has been remastered from two unearthed vinyl copies, so forgive us for any sound imperfections although we spend many months in the studio. Nevertheless this is so rare and this reissue would be a keeper for sure. We have boosted the reissue with one extra track from their first (also on Trend) single. Licensed by Buchanan and made with the help of the original Cargo members. Includes: * Fully laminated cover. * One bonus track. * two-page LP-sized insert with short bio, photos and lyrics. The Children were a great psychedelic band from San Antonio, TX, who released only one classic album on Cinema in 1968 (picked up by Atco later that year). Starting out as The Stoics in 1966, they later evolved into The Mind's Eye, then their final incarnation as The Children with the beautiful female vocals of Cassell Webb. Ex-Monkee Davy Jones took them under his wing in 1967, promoting them on the LA Sunset Strip club scene. Rebirth combines soft psych and baroque pop with fuzzed-out psychedelia. CHILDREN OF THE MUSHROOM- ST Rare garage 60s psych w fold-out colour insert ,liner notes, interviews , rare photos - Label:OUT-SIDER (SPAIN) Remastered sound. Fold-out colour insert with liner notes, interview with the band members, and rare photos.. LP version. Though they only released one 45 during their existence, Children of the Mushroom epitomized the psychedelic garage sound coming out of California in the late '60s. Formed in Thousand Oaks by Jerry McMillen and Dennis Swanson, they evolved from a mid-'60s teen-beat band called The Captives. In 1967, they became Children of the Mushroom, a name which reflected their new psychedelic sound and image. The following year, they caught the attention of a couple of young producers, who signed the band for a 45 release. Recorded in 1968 for Soho Records, August Mademoiselle/You Can't Erase a Mirror is one of the masterpieces from the first psychedelic era: feedback, fuzz, organ, and mysterious vocals. Soon after, the band incorporated a new guitar player, shortened their name to The Mushroom and started playing in a more heavy psych vein, in a similar style to Iron Butterfly. This retrospective album includes both tracks from their monster 45, with sound taken from the master recordings, plus previously unreleased tracks by The Mushroom, recorded in 1968. These are raw, lo-fi home recordings with lots of fuzz guitar and organ. It's the sound of a psychedelic band in 1968 playing free and wild, without any producer or record label executive telling them what to do. An incredible document. LP $26 SKU:16347

CIPOLLINA, JOHN -Raven 2LP ( 69 acid rock ) -Label:VINYL LOVERS 2011 release. By 1969 (with the release of their landmark Happy Trails LP) John Cipollina's Quicksilver Messenger Service was one of the most popular acid rock bands in the nation and Cipollina himself had risen to "guitar-god" status thanks in part to his towering one-of-a-kind amp stack and dual pick-up guitars (now on display at the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame). In fact, in 2003 he was ranked #32 on Rolling Stone Magazine's list of greatest guitar players of all time. By 1976, Cipollina was heading up a new band called Raven featuring a 10-player all-star line-up that included the likes of Greg Douglass (Steve Miller Band), Jim McPherson (Copperhead), Dave Walker (Fleetwood Mac), and Nicky Hopkins (The Rolling Stones). The songs were a mix of originals and well-selected covers and just as they were on the verge of becoming the next big thing the band broke up (but thankfully not before heading into a studio to record an album's worth of material). Some of these recordings eventually surfaced on a German label in 1980, but for the most part remained a little-known chapter in Cipollina's discography. Vinyl Lovers now is proud to bring you an entirely re-mastered and expanded version with 7 new tracks (sides C and D) not found on the original vinyl. LP $29 SKU:17209

CIRCLE BROS- Haven SAALE ltd ed. - Label:MORC Very limited edition! LP $8 SKU:11694

CIRCUS - ST 180 gram ( 60s dutch ) SAALE LTD ED OF 500 - Label:PSEUDONYM Black vinyl 180 grams. 350 grams carton sleeve. Japanese plastic bag. Circus had everything to become the first Dutch super band, along the lines of a.o. Cream and Blind Faith. In January 1968 guitarist and composer Frank Nuyens and drummer/lyricist Jay Baar rose from the ashes of Q65. Herman Brood (Cuby + B) would play piano and Henk Smitskamp (Motions) was approached as bassist/singer. Smitskamp however, chose for After Tea and Brood just did not show up. Mark Klein (James Mean) joined as keyboardist, Frank Verhoef became the bassist/singer. With them, Nuyens and Baar made the first recordings. Later they went into the studio with producer Hans van Hemert, for the complex basis of Mother Motha's Sundance. Although the focus was on instrumental pieces, Circus planned to use a different singer for each song. Hans van Hemert did the "guide-vocal" of Voluntary Peacemaker and Wim Bieler put his teeth in Fairy Tales Of Truth, a long drawn out song full of psychedelia. Circus' groundbreaking sound attracted serious interest from Apple Records, the label of The Beatles. But their recording career never went beyond a test pressing of the single Medusa - recently found in the archives of Hitweek. Since Q65 had split up, but was contractually obliged to deliver one more album, a number of Circus songs landed on the last Q65 LP, 'Revival'. Four decades later Circus presents the original rough working versions, different and sometimes longer than what appeared on 'Revival'. Justice at last, for a band that existed only for a short period, but that made a big impression by their productivity and - above all - creativity. LP $24 SKU:13229

COLD SUN - Dark Shadows -BLUE VINYL (revered Texas psychedelic underground gems from the early '70s )-Label:WORLD IN SOUND Limited edition BLUE MARBLED vinyl. This is the vinyl re-release of World In Sound's limited collectors edition from 2008. Without any doubt Cold Sun are one of Austin's milestones of the heavy-acid-psych and garage movement. All seven tunes, dating from 1970, lyrically express a dark and mystic poetry combined with the deep floating '60s psychedelic fuzz spirit, presented in compact mini-epics along with several mind blowing long tunes, such as 'Ra-Ma', 'Here In The Year' and 'Fall'. Autoharp wizard Billy Miller eventually spearheaded Roky Erickson's international debut as the Cold Sun band joined forces with Roky in 1974 and backed Roky's Aliens on his famous albums and historical concerts. Carefully remastered from the mastertapes, this album will bring new rewarding listening experiences in expanded fidelity. Now including a poster with bio and memorabilia, these recordings back in the day were only pressed on acetate and and not discovered 'til 1991, by Dallas-based Rockadelic Records. Then 'Dark Shadows' at last saw the light of day as a limited LP version. Nowadays it's one of the most important and revered Texas psychedelic underground gems from the early '70s! LP $32 SKU:16404

NEW YORK DOLLS -Live At Radio Luxembourg, Paris 1973-Label:LILITH (RUSSIAN FEDERATION) 2014 release. Before punk rock had a name, its name was the New York Dolls. Recorded for a radio broadcast in Paris in December 1973, this is arguably THE best existing live recording of the Dolls in their prime, complete with stage banter, appalling attempts at fake French accents and a whole lot of drug fuelled attitude. It's almost as if you were there, and for those of us who weren't, this is definitely the next best thing. In addition to thrashing through their "hits," the Dolls revealed their roots in covers of Bo Diddley, Muddy Waters, and New York's original bad girls, the Shangri-Las.
