HURRY CAUSE THEY”RE GOING FAST! These items below are flying off the shelf and when they’re gone, they’re gone. Yesterday we got a call from BILLBOARD saying that the BONNEVILLES was close to charting! (In the BLUES category) That hasn't happened since the BLACK KEYS. The first pressing of splatter vinyl is nearly gone and sure to be a collector’s item. Plus I just discovered that the vinyl is actually 180 gram, pressing plant surprise! We ordered regular weight but when I was hefting a box yesterday I realized it was kind of heavy and sure enough, they are 180 gram, a nice bonus for you guys.

WICKED - This Diamond Ring (w LENNY KAYE!!) _Label:ISABELLE / BOMP BW / Spider and the Fly - Original pressing of rare Bomp offshoot label. This was found in the Bomp warehouse recently, but nobody knew what it was, including Google! I sent out an e mail to all my record geek friends and to my surprise, even the best of the best werent really sure, altho one said he thought it might be Lenny Kaye. Fortunately, I know Lenny, and sent him an e mail. He replied within minutes to my plea for assistance identifying the record... as follows.
Rose(nfeld, once lead guitarist of the Sidewinders, Andy's Boston group), and though I can't be sure cause I only remember a bit of the session, possibly Eric Lindgren (later of the Space Negroes etc.) It is, of course, a continuation of the "Spider and the Fly" saga with begins with Bobby Christian and the Allen Sister's recording in the 1950s, that began a much-quoted allusion between Andy and me throughout the seventies. Then we found a garage cover of the song (actually, a somewhat takeoff on the movie "The Fly") by the Monocles in the sixties, and so we did our own version of this wacky novelty song to continue this one-in-each-decade tradition. Isabelle was named for the owner of the record store in Scituate, Mass. that we used to frequent....The flip was a cover of "This Diamond Ring" which featured Eric on guitar. "Lenny Kaye
So, turns out this single is quite a gem, sure to be quite valuable in years to come. 45 RPM $25 SKU:11634

YOUNG SINCLAIRS - Change Your Mind (powerpop ) -Label:13 O CLOCK BW Once or Twice. Hot on the heels of their new album on Ample Play comes a new single from The Young Sinclairs! This top-notch two-sider finds the Roanoke, Virginia-based group in peak form as they display their signature sound: a mixture of jangly folk rock diffused through a prism of paisley pop, and accentuated at times by garage, powerpop, and mod moves. The key equation to their sound is thoroughly demonstrated on the A side of this single, a jangly Byrdsian folk rock song with spot-on vocal harmonies, steeped heavily in the pot of Rain Parade-style paisley underground pop. On the flipside, the group adds thick dollops of powerpop to this mixture, rounding out what rest assured is a single to stay in constant rotation on turntables everywhere!“Beautiful 60's-inspired folk-pop” - Carrie Quartly, Louder Than War“A band with an impressive ability to evoke the music of the masters without coming across as derivative” - Nathan Ford, The Active Listener“If the 70's perfect power-pop bands actually existed in the 60's they might hope to sound like these new mad mod modulators” - Waymon Timbsdayle, Rocktober45 RPM $7 SKU:16311

ZAKARY THAKS - BAD GIRL/I NEED YOU ( 60s Texas punk ) - Label:J BECK This bowl-headed bunch of miscreants came from Corpus Christi, Texas and released this punk rock growler in 1966. A strong Stones influenced pounder with snappy guitar breaks and a brick-through-a-glass-window version of the Kinks classic on the flip make this an genuine 2 sider rather than just a sales pitch. Originally released on the legendary J-Beck label - long considered to be a mark of high quality - and reproduced here as such. It was later released on Mercury but this has the original glow. Comped many times but notably on Pebbles. 45 RPM $12 SKU:14415

Each copy also comes with 24x24 cm screenprint of the front cover. Signed by artist Marcel Bontempi. Back in the late 1950s and into the early '60s, everyone seemed to become obsessed with the possibility that science fiction might become science fact. Movie houses and drive-ins across America were fascinated by the idea of a Martian invasion, with a suitably Theremin-powered eerie soundtrack, not to mention the prospect of the rise of unruly robots. Never one to miss jumping on a trend, the prolific Jimmy Haskell produced a whole album of space-based tomfoolery called Countdown for the Imperial label. Similarly, in the UK, Joe Meek produced the concept album I Hear a New World to quench his intrigue in the stars, having already peaked the public's imagination with his "Telstar" hit with The Tornados. Meanwhile, in Belgium, in the process of developing new possibilities for sound recording, Tom Dissevelt and Kid Baltan produced the electronic pulse at the heart of "Song to the Second Moon." Aspiring rockabilly performers and early rock 'n' rollers in the southern states picked up on the phenomena while craning their necks upwards. Billy Lee Riley And The Little Green Men, The Wildetones, Buck Trail and Joe Tate all took the idea to new levels of incredulity, while Lynn Vernon's instrumental chops for the Tennessee-based Cover label just needed a suitable title to put it in the frame. But if those southern performers were looking to the skies for inspiration, legend has it that Sun Ra And His Arkestra were looking down on them from their own planet. COMP LP $19 SKU:16381

What makes it better than so many 'cover' LPs is that rather than just looking at one act - Link Wray or Sam The Sham, for example - where the choice can get a bit thin, there is an opening up and the opportunity to cover one band's best song. And there are a lot of best songs on this brilliant record. I'd love to hear all the originals. TRACKLISTINGS ON SITE COMP LP $15 SKU:14773

PEBBLES. THE SERIES THAT INSPIRED THE ENTIRE GARAGE ROCK REVIVAL! In his review of the Pebbles series for Allmusic, Richie Unterberger comments: "Though 1972's Nuggets compilation reawakened listeners to the sounds of mid-'60s garage rock, it only focused on the tip of the iceberg. Behind those forgotten hits and semi-hits lurked hundreds, if not thousands, of regional hits and flops from the same era, most even rawer and cruder. . . . More than any other factor, these compilations [in the Pebbles series] were responsible for the resurgence of interest in garage rock, which remains high among collectors to this day."[

Four tracks from the amazing hard-driving and funky EP by Los Papos (released by Orfeon in 1971); four previously unreleased tracks by Los Free Minds, and the only two extant songs by Polvo, an amazing heavy psychedelic rock group from Nuevo Laredo. Los Free Minds was a Mexican Psychedelic Rock trio, formed in 1970 by Jorge Aguilera (guitar, vocals), Jesús Perez [El Jali] and drummer Ernesto Ontiveros. Although invited, the band could not take part in the legendary rock event the Festival de Avándaro held in September 1971; after that, rock music was banned for many years in Mexico, which killed the careers of many bands. In the same year, shortly before their disbandment, Los Free Minds recorded an LP for Orfeón, but only four tracks from it were released as an EP, leaving tracks in the can which debut here. MCKAY- Into You ( STONER ROCK- One of the holy grails of 70s Indianapolis private-pressdom w Updated liner notes and exactly-transcribed lyrics. ) -Label:LION One of the "holy grails" of Indianapolis private-pressdom (surpassed only by Zerfas and Anonymous) available again in its original format! Ray "McKay" Pierle and his musically-adept brothers and friends partied, jammed and partied some more on Indy's south side throughout the mid-70's, forming a band (Loos) which managed to garner zero media attention at the time. However, Ray's trusty Teac four-track was always close at hand and countless hours of home recordings were induced onto magnetic tape, as well as a few songs laid down at a local studio. After a brief hiatus, the core members reconvened as McKay, and created their sole document, the 300-press "Into You" album (1978); the LP was given to friends and family and consigned in nearby record shoppes. A mere 15 years had to pass before the collecting world discovered the highly-personal songwriting, tight playing, and not-so-well-hidden West-Coast stylistic touches. A vinyl reissue was locally produced back then but it's long gone, so here's a new all analogue, master tape edition for a new generation to savor. •All-analogue pressing, cut directly from the original master tapes. •Licensed from Ray Pierle with his full cooperation and support. •Updated liner notes and exactly-transcribed lyrics. MERRELL FANKHAUSER - a.k.a The Maui Album (1968 POP PSYCH WONDER ) - Label:OUT-SIDER (Spain) After his stint with Fapardokly, HMS Bounty and MU, Merrell Fankauser released his first solo album in 1976. Comprised of songs written a year earlier while Merrell and violin player Mary Lee were living in the jungle of Maui, this is a brilliant set of spiritual folk-rock and 70s orchestrated SSW light-pop The album was recorded at various Hollywood studios, initially sponsored by a producer from George Harrison’s Dark Horse label. In fact Harrison was so impressed with Merrell’s songs that he expressed interest in playing slide guitar on “Our Way To Hana”. Sadly, due to internal problems, Dark Horse backed off and Merrell found himself without a label to release the album. Finally, a couple of friends from Maui released it on the small Maui Music label. On the recordings, Merrell and Mary Lee were joined by several studio musicians, among them, drummer Bill Berg, who had played on Bob Dylan’s “Blood On The Tracks”. First ever vinyl reissue with tracks restored to their original running order and original artwork. Insert with in-depth liner notes by Jeremy Cargill (Ugly Things, Got Kinda Lost), presenting the most complete written story about Merrell’s musical career. "... It stands as a lost classic in Fankhauser's prolific catalog of work." – Jeremy Cargill (Ugly Things, Got Kinda Lost); “…Great melodic ‘70s psych. Merrell is joined by female violinist Mary Lee; she also was part of the earlier MU scene and lived with Merrell in a Maui jungle hut…– - Patrick Lundborg (Acid Archives) LP $26 SKU:16714

MIJ - YODELING ASTROLOGER ( 68 HIPPIE PSYCH ) -Label:JACKPOT RECORDS (USA) An album which “could be considered an anomaly, a one-off or a miracle of circumstance in the history of psychedelic pop music. Mij, a.k.a. Jim Holmberg was discovered by ESP owners while playing in Washington Square Park in the summer of 1968. His style and persona mesmerized the label heads, and he explained to them a recent auto accident had fractured his skull but left him changed. He perceived sound, color and vision differently and he had funneled this new world of perception directly into his music. All this was enough to warrant getting Mij into the studio to lay down a record of his rambly, cosmic folk songs. The entire album was recorded in three hours, first-takes and impromptu production intact, then pressed up and introduced to the world shortly thereafter. To focus on the yodeling aspect of the Yodeling Astrologer would miss some of the depth of this album. Not just a hippie novelty act of the time, this is a truly thoughtful and somewhat frenzied document. Like Buffy St. Marie’s “Meditations”, Linda Perhacs’ “Parallelograms” or “Cold Fact” by Rodriguez, this is an album of sincere folk songs colored with subtle psychedelic touches. Uneasy reverberations and soft echoes glide over Holmberg’s breezy songs, creating a consistent sonic environment as spontaneous as it is intriguing. Available on vinyl for the first time since an incredibly limited original pressing in 1969 on ESP Disk. Sales Points: • Remastered from the original master tapes; • First ever reissue since original pressing in 1969; • Limited Edition Vinyl Pressing. • Audiophile vinyl press at RTI. • Sturdy old-style tip on jackeT LP $10 SKU:16389

MISSING MONUMENTS- Painted White ( RASPBERRIES STYLE power pop ) w download coupon SAALE - Label:DOUCHEMASTER Starting off with the riffy power-pop jam “Girl of the Nite”, the equation for most of the disc is set: rapid rock rhythms, familiar song structures, huge hooks, and even bigger guitar solos. MOCKERS, LOS - ST (60s Uruguay garage) 180 gram- Label:VINILISSSIMO (Spain) Maybe if they had come from an English-speaking country, their name would now be among the greats of the '60s. At least, their career would have lasted longer instead of being truncated at their peak. But Los Mockers were from Uruguay and during their short life as a band, they never got beyond Río de la Plata. Their story begins at a high school in Montevideo, where three of the future Mockers were students. Aged 16, they started playing covers of Mexico's Teen Tops, The Shadows and Trini López and soon they were writing their own songs. Their upright bass was borrowed and their Spanish guitar was plugged into a radio they moved from electric guitar and bass, handmade by the guitarist's father, who was a carpenter. The primitive drum kit was finally completed and they even managed to get hold of a rudimentary Hammond organ. At the time they were called Los Encadenados and under that name they recorded their first demos, sung in Spanish. In 1964, the British Invasion shook the world. Los Encadenados also covered some Beatles songs, but they were still searching for their own identity through rougher and less-trodden paths. What really influenced their style were the first Rolling Stones records -- a little more rugged, but with a rebellious energy that electrified the whole band at once. Soon after, they found other sources of inspiration, such as The Animals. It was what they were looking for: the wild force of rhythm and blues. Montevideo got hip in the summer of 1965 and venues like La Cueva opened up, where the band performed often. Most weekends they played at student parties and they also appeared live on TV regularly. The band was growing and writing their first songs in English. It was the moment to take one step forward and choose a new name that reflected the music they were making. The fights between mods and rockers in England gave them the idea: from then on they would be known as Los Mockers. They were 18 and 19 years old. 1966 was the band's most prolific year. Then based in Argentina, after a few months they were playing regularly at venues such as Whisky a Go-Go and on TV. That year they released their first single and only LP, although they didn't achieve major success. They had a good number of loyal fans, but their music was too strange for a wider audience. A planned second LP was never completed as the band, unable to make a living in Argentina, went back to Uruguay, discouraged, in 1967. Although their comeback was welcomed enthusiastically, new tour plans fell through and they split up soon after. Remastered from the original stereo recordings. On 180 gram vinyl. LP $22 SKU:14637
