WALLRUS- Burn the Shivers (GROOVE ROCK)Label:FREEBIRD On their second full length release, WALLRUS brings you 12 brand new tracks of dirty, sincere and unpolished groove rock. After having re-released "The wind blows witches from the sky" Freebird Records it took almost two years to complete the album. But it was worth the long waiting. WALLRUS takes you on a rollercoaster ride of groove rock, while vocalist Rob Rietdijk is turning his lungs inside out to create the biggest variety in vocal styles ever presented in this genre, and way beyond. Includes a video by willem de Roon for viewing pleasure on your PC. And they managed to include a track name longer than "The wind blows witches from the sky" this time.... CD $8 SKU:18812

WARA - El Inca(strange Bolivian hard psych 1972)-Label:REVISTA ”:Very strange hard psychedelic album from Bolivia (1972) with prominent farfisa organ, and acid guitars trying to find common ground with Andean native musical structures; quite strange and interesting, and often called the best testimony (perhaps the only) to the history of Bolivian rock. The addition of cellos, violins, and oboe to some of the arrangements makes them sound ever more complex and odd than otherwise might have been the case with a simple bass-guitar-drums-organ construct. CD $12 SKU:20417

WAX ON RADIO- Exposition (American alternative rock band from Chicago, Illinois. )Label:Downtown Radio Promo hole in Barcode, never been played. CD $5 SKU:17864

WAYGOOD, OTIS BLUES BANDST (1969 acid blues from South Africa)Label:FRESH Excellent album from one of South Africa's best kept secrets, this is slow acid blues with amazing fuzz guitars and gentle passages with flute playing to die for. Long extended jams on certain tracks get heavier and heavier. The first nine tracks on this disc are their complete Parlophone label album from 1970, including their classic takes on traditional tunes 'Watch 'n Chain' and 'I Can't Keep From Crying', plus their burning version of 'Fever'—not blues rock as one might think—it's bluesy no doubt, but with flute and saxophone giving a hippie jamming Sweetwater vibe to the proceedings; three bonus tracks are from their jazzier 1971 Parlophone album "Ten Claps and a Scream"; liner notes and photos have complete band history. They came from Rhodesia in 1969 and had people freaking out straight away at their high-octane live shows; by 1971 they were gone—and rock in Africa was never the same again! CD $12 SKU:11153

WELLINGTONS-End of the Summer (powerpop)Label:OFF THE HIP “You can scarcely do better than Melbourne, Australia's, pride and joy, The Wellingtons. "Heading North for the Winter" (Zip) is bursting at the seams with catchy hooks, handclaps, soaring choruses, well-placed horn charts and an immensely appealing blend of male and female vocals. Imagine vintage Elvis Costello at his poppiest and punchiest, add in the above elements, and you get irresistible tracks such as "I Get My Heart Broken Every Day." Los Angeles Daily News CD $8 SKU:18597

WITCH MOUNTAIN(USA)-MOBILE OF ANGELS (heavy blues psych)Label:SVART Mini-gatefold package, with bonus track. 'Mobile Of Angels' is Witch Mountain's most epic and musically challenging album to date. It's darker and more brooding, with a cleaner and warmer-sounding production (courtesy of legendary producer BILLY ANDERSON), yet maintains the massive, heavy, bluesy and melodic tone the band is known for. CD $10 SKU:18939

WITHIN U -THE NIGHT THAT ROCK'N'ROLL BROKE (Sgt Pepper style psych!)-Label:OTHER EYES To celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Beatles' album 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band', Within U recorded 'The Night That Rock'n'Roll Broke'. If you're a psych freak, you won't get enough of these genuinely out-there sounds! CD $12 SKU:19179

WITNESS INC.- The Singles (Canadian 60s garage )Label:PACE This CD represents the entire commercially available recorded output of one of Western Canada's most popular rock bands of the 1960s, Witness Inc. A cross section of four much-loved cover tunes and six self-penned originals, this compilation is the perfect backward glance at the phenomena that was Witness Inc. CD $10 SKU:11037

WOODEN LION -ST (unreleased 70s heavy psych )Label:AUDIO ARCHIVES On CD, here's one of the rarest previously unreleased heavy psych album from the early '70s UK underground by the original five-piece band. Painstakingly re-mastered from the only surviving acetate, you get long, tripped-out tracks with an early Hawkwind feel, toughened by dark vocals that combine to make this a cosmic-doom classic. Highlights include the atmospheric 'Ice Maiden', the spaced-out 'She Paints Strange Pictures' and their notorious tour de force, the lengthy three-part 'McAlistairess Phantoms'. Plenty of rare band shots, items of memorabilia and detailed sleeve notes included in this long lost forgotten classic. CD $10 SKU:21108

WYLDE OSCARS, THE- Right, Yeah - GARAGE ROCK-Label:OFF THE HIP GARAGE PUNK INFUSING THE VERY BEST OF 60’S CONTINENTAL BEAT MUSIC AND AMERICAN SOUL WITH THE MANIC ENERGY AND ATTITUDE OF PUNK BANDS FROM THE 70’S. CD $7 SKU:17854

YAME & THE KARMA Dusters-Up From the Sewers (1970 quintessential anarcho-hippie record)-Label:LION Super political, rocking, anti-establishment communal band (c. 1970) put together as a result of the Kent State Massacre. As the Euphoria Blimpworks Band, fronted by Howard Berkman from morose garage punksters the Knaves, they played demonstrations and student strikes when they weren’t opening for blues royalty—or being the first band to play the yard at Cook County Jail. They were inter-racial, anti-war, Stop the Bomb, free love hippies, the wildest of the wild kids. And this is the quintessential anarcho-hippie record, a surprisingly well-engineered indie effort which came inside home-made silk-screened jackets, with twisted, poetic lyrics (Dylan or Arthur Lee and Love? you decide), and funky, rocking bones—political, sociological, ecological, reflective and free-love sexy. The Karma Dusters really cook on the up-tempo tracks, sounding at times like a cross between The Blues Project and Dylan's band circa 1966, augmented by some dazzling violin. This excellent sounding master-tape reissue has two bonus tracks; it also has two booklets—one is for the outrageous and explicit Gonzo history of the band and their urban commune; the other is a wrap-around booklet for lyrics, all served up together in a Mylar plastic sleeve. You just know the FBI has a huge file on these punks. But do they have the album? CD $8 SKU:20098

YANCY DERRINGER -Openers (1974 ACID ROCK w Weedburner and more) Label:GEAR FAB Yancy Derringer was a four-piece band from Wisconsin that recorded an album titled Openers in 1976. With an original pressing of only 1000 copies, the album reflected the band's live act and creative talents in seven original songs. The sound of Yancy Derringer was similar to that of some of the more hard driven southern U.S. rock acts of the day such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker Band, Ozark Mountain Daredevils and many more. After selling out the initial thousand pressings very quickly, the band ordered a second pressing, which got caught up management hassles and was delayed. This caused fans to lose interest in the band; by 1976, the group's momentum had passed Yancy Derringer broke up, leaving the world with another limited pressing album. In the late '90s, Gear Fab acquired the rights to the band's original masters and released that long lost album for fans of '70s rock to enjoy. With detailed band history and song information as in all Gear Fab releases, Yancy Derringer can now take its place in the history of American rock music. ~ Keith Pettipas, Rov CD $8 SKU:20314

ZONE SIX - LOVE MONSTER (mind shredding kraut/psych burners)Label:SULATRON Here are four extended mind shredding kraut/psych burners, featuring the band's mesmerising, trademark metronomic bass and drum backdrop to formidable swirling, oscillating synths and guitar freakouts. This is a genuine space monster, both in name and nature! Mixed by Sula Bassana, mastered by Krautrock legend Eroc. The album comes with beautiful artwork rom Lulu and is presented in a jewel case. CD $15 SKU:21326

ZOOBOMBS- The Ultimate Collection (supersonic Tokyo band)Label:OFF THE HIP The supersonic Tokyo band somehow morphed from Stonesy punk-rock maniacs to freaky jazz-rock jammers without missing a beat, or losing a tad of their record-breaking intensity.Band leader Don Matsuo repeatedly risked everything, pushing the audience to the brink with endless jams before dissolving into a gloriously noisy release.” - Toronto Sun. Includes twelve of Zoobombs greatest hits, including the infectious party groove of 'Mo Funky' and the explosive energy of 'South Central Rock'. CD $6 SKU:19242

CAROLYN HESTER COALITION-Magazine (1969 hippie psych fuzz) -Label:MISSING VINYL Both Carolyn Hester Coalition albums are fine examples of US west coast style hippie fuzz psychedelic folk rock, like Neighb’rhood Children, Birmingham Sunday and similar outfits. They were recorded in 1969 and 1970 on the METROMEDIA label and are considered to be a must have for US dreamy folk psych music collectors. First ever reissue on vinyl. Limited edition, deluxe 180g vinyl, exact reproduction of the original first pressing. Great US psychedelic folk rock album from 1970.” A little more info: After a handful of traditional folk albums, Carolyn Hester went on a mini trip with The Carolyn Hester Coalition—a completely different beast, which took her in a psychedelic direction. The albums are fine West Coast-style Hippie fuzz Folk Rock/Pop affairs, with Hester singing in a decidedly non-folky Acid Bubblegum style. Solid all the way through, the albums should appeal to any fan of Neighb'rhood Child'n, Birmingham Sunday, Daisy Chain and similar pop/psych trips. The opening of the debut, ‘Magic, Man,’ is well known due to its inclusion on the “Hippie Goddesses” compilation LP $19 SKU:21074

CARPE DIEM -En Regardent Passer Le Temps (1976 underground French rock rarity)-Label:LION Formed in 1970, Carpe Diem started out playing covers by the likes of East of Eden, King Crimson, Deep Purple, and Uriah Heep in clubs along the French Riviera. Original compositions made their way into the band's repertoire over the five years between their formation and the release of their debut album, En Regardent Passer Le Temps, in 1976. Little wonder then that the band sounds as magnificently tight, polished and mature on this classic debut, truly one of the gems of the French rock scene. The success of the album brought them dates with other major French bands like Magma and Ange, led to the recording of a second album, and then ultimately to the sort of nearly total obscurity which deserves to be undone with a reissue such as this one! 'Carpe Diem weave spacey, melodic soundscapes of impossible subtlety and beauty, combining woodwinds and all manner of synthesizers with surging, inspired guitar solos. The playing is free and loose, while yet retaining an air of careful composition. Guitar parts and multiple keyboard lines lock into precise, tightly meshed melodic webs, building tension before bursting into emotive, furious climaxes. Soaring, cosmic guitar melodies glide along churning synthesizer rhythms in the aptly titled opener 'Voyage du non-retour' (Voyage of No Return). The three lengthy tracks that almost evenly divide the album's remainder are uniformly excellent, with nary a superfluous or unnecessary moment. It says something when, in listening to an album, each track convinces you independently that it, indeed, is the best cut on the record. 'Reincarnation' features understated, yet gorgeous, vocal passages in between fiery instrumental portions. The flute and mellotron introduction of 'Jeux du siecle' perfectly sets up the driving grooves to come. In closer 'Publiphobie,' fluid bass-lines and ultra-tight rhythmic work provide the foundation for heavily syncopated, enchanting saxophone melodies. Subtle, smoky vocals return to the fore later in the track, before the band jumps into the closing instrumental finale.' --Greg Northrup, Progweed. First time vinyl reissue of 1976 underground French rock rarity LP $19 SKU:21221

CIRCUS - ST 180 gram (60s dutch CREAM STYLE) Label:PSEUDONYM Circus had everything to become the first Dutch super band, along the lines of a.o. Cream and Blind Faith. In January 1968 guitarist and composer Frank Nuyens and drummer/lyricist Jay Baar rose from the ashes of Q65. Herman Brood (Cuby + B) would play piano and Henk Smitskamp (Motions) was approached as bassist/singer. Smitskamp however, chose for After Tea and Brood just did not show up. Mark Klein (James Mean) joined as keyboardist, Frank Verhoef became the bassist/singer. With them, Nuyens and Baar made the first recordings. Later they went into the studio with producer Hans van Hemert, for the complex basis of Mother Motha's Sundance. Although the focus was on instrumental pieces, Circus planned to use a different singer for each song. Hans van Hemert did the "guide-vocal" of Voluntary Peacemaker and Wim Bieler put his teeth in Fairy Tales Of Truth, a long drawn out song full of psychedelia. Circus' groundbreaking sound attracted serious interest from Apple Records, the label of The Beatles. But their recording career never went beyond a test pressing of the single Medusa - recently found in the archives of Hitweek. Since Q65 had split up, but was contractually obliged to deliver one more album, a number of Circus songs landed on the last Q65 LP, 'Revival'. Four decades later Circus presents the original rough working versions, different and sometimes longer than what appeared on 'Revival'. Justice at last, for a band that existed only for a short period, but that made a big impression by their productivity and - above all - creativity. grams. 350 grams carton sleeve. LP $22 SKU:21014

COSMIC MICHAEL- St ( Ultra-crude basement garage psych and acid-boogie-blues from 1969 ) - Label:OUT-SIDER Ultra-crude basement garage psych and acid-boogie-blues from 1969!!! First ever vinyl reissue, original artwork, insert with reproduction of the original poster plus pasteable reproductions of original LP labels like those that came with the original release. Newly remastered sound
Who was the mysterious Cosmic Michael? Nobody knows for sure…rumour goes that he was a freak from New York who later relocated to the West Coast after living the Woodstock dream. That’s all we know about him. But before vanishing without trace, Cosmic Michael self-released a couple of primitive, home-made albums on his Bliss label. This is his first one, DIY stoner bluesy garage psychedelia with crude organ, guitars and vocals. Featuring underground classics like “Cosmic Michael Theme” (covered in 2013 by neo-psych band Psychic Ills) and “Now That You’ve found it” among others.. “One of the least “cosmic”-sounding cosmic LPs around, with a loose urban soundcheck vibe using equal parts Vox organ, piano and crude guitar, on top of which Michael semi-improvs lyrics to a steady basement boogie beat. An unusual LP that falls between any genres you can think up; The top attraction is Cosmic Michael’s “Theme” which describes in third person the acid-indulged transformation he’s undergone: “…some kind of chemical change is going on in poor Michael’s brain…” set to a rockin’ garage fuzz beat” - Patrick Lundborg (Acid Archives) “…Stoned '60s DIY rock 'n'roll. You can call it lo-fi or home made, but the message remains: Cosmic Michael preaches love and freedom, and he's a mean boogie-woogie player too. The songs run one after the other, as if part of one spontaneous recording …” - Forced Exposure. LP $15 SKU:19525

CRASH COFFIN - ST (Private press 1974 psych) Label:MISSING VINYL Crash Coffins eponymous album was originally released privately in 1974 on the MUS-I-COL label. It is very rare and sought after by early 70s US psychedelic collectors worldwide. Not unjustly so, since it contains one of the best psychedelic songs ever recorded (God Loves the Loser) and a couple of other great moody psych tracks. It contains 2 unreleased bonus tracks from the same period. 500 pcs limited edition, deluxe 180g vinyl, heavy original cover and insert with group history. Insert also contains a sketch of how the original cover was supposed to become, if it were not for lack of funds, that led to an original release with plain white covers - half of them carrying Crash Coffins signature. LP $19 SKU:10991

CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL - GREEN RIVER - Label:FANTASY SEALED REISSUE, STEREO LP $10 SKU:20899

CROCK - GROK (from pop prog freakout to Beatles style!) Label:JACKPOT Coming from the brilliant minds of Quasi's Sam Coomes and Hella's Spencer Seim, Crock's debut record "Grok" is the end product of several years of refined collaboration, and truly a sound and vision unlike any other. Each song shifts and burns through an albums' worth of ideas in the compact space of 4 minutes. It's not so much a collage as it is some new kind of sonic highway where it's always rush hour. Amid all the electronic fragments, outsider doom riffs and dozens of other sounds racing by, at the center of the songs are the signature sounds of either of the creators. Coomes' instantly-recognizable vocal harmonies push some of the best songs from prog-freak out territory into the realm of Beatles-y pop wonder. The spazzy, sputtering drum work by Seim is not only on par with the best Hella moments, but serves as an anchor to the trails of sometimes blissful, sometimes crazed composition shooting off in all directions. The very simple cover art (by Janet Weiss of Quasi/Sleater-Kinney) could serve to sum up Crock's debut; some kind of controlled neon explosion that looks different from different angles. There's a lot going on, but every different view will show you something new LP $17 SKU:20801

This 10 track debut long player sees Carter Sharp (vocals), Bim Williams (horns), Fil Ward (guitars/vocals), James Macphee (drums) and Jamie Bird (pianos/ vocals) take up the rhythm & blues blueprint and filter it through a 40+ year historical path that encompasses everything from Motown & Stax to The Stooges, Clah, Spiritualized & The Mary Chain. It’s a sonic blast of an album, and a welcome breath of fresh air. ‘Thirst’ was recorded at PJ Harvey’s studio in Bristol."Scuzzy proto-punk in the vein of Iggy Pop morphing into a Motown-beat driven garage track. Sounds like a mess; but this isn’t impossibly cluttered, it’s impossibly good. All bursts of horn and screeching vocals – it sounds like a forgotten gem from the Ace Records catalogue, but it’s brand new." – Nicholas Burman / Artrocker "They have found a way to reconcile their twin passions: Stooges and Stax, garage and soul, rock’n'roll’s trash aesthetic and the exuberance and jubilation of old-style R&B." – The Guardian "Has a Rolling Stones swagger… it’s like Steppenwolf jamming with The Commodores and is every bit as magnificent as that alliance should be." –å God Is In The TV CD $5 SKU:14633

WILDE FLOWERS- ST (60s Brit pop) booklet is packed with photos, cuttings and extensive sleeve notes - Label:VOICEPRINT Booklet is packed with photos, cuttings and extensive sleeve notes from the band members. It is simplistic to merely say that The Wilde Flowers were a popular music group based in the vicinity of Canterbury, England. Although the band name itself may not ring any bells for too many people (they never released any records during the band’s lifetime, from 1964-1967), it was a pillar of the legendary Canterbury scene of the mid-to-late sixties. The Wilde Flowers have assumed an almost mythical status simply because of the musicians that passed through them. Band members included, at various times, Hugh Hopper (bass), Robert Wyatt (drums, vocals), Kevin Ayers (vocals) (all soon to form the Soft Machine), as well as the basis of influential Canterbury band, Caravan: Richard Sinclair (rhythm guitar, vocals), Pye Hastings (guitar, vocals), David Sinclair (keyboards), Richard Coughlan (drums) and Brian Hopper (lead guitar, alto saxophone, vocals). This CD is the very first commercially available record of the Wilde Flowers sessions. A number of tracks on this disc were recorded at a session at Regent Sound Studios on the 6 August 1969, though by this time, the careers of Soft Machine and Caravan were already underway; these tracks are of interest as they feature tracks recorded by Wyatt, Hugh Hopper and Pye Hastings: ‘Impotence’ (Hopper/Wyatt), ‘She Loves To Hurt ‘(Hopper), and ‘Memories’ (Hopper). A fourth track, ‘The Big Show’ (Brian Hopper), also sees Brian Hopper joining in. Thus one of progressive rock's most important bands came to an end with the formation of the Canterbury scene's most popular groups, Soft Machine and Caravan. Not all the members that passed through the ranks of The Wilde Flowers ended up in these two bands. Brian Hopper also formed the short-lived band Zobe, some of whose recordings also appear on this disc. CD $8 SKU:14884

WILDFLOWER-40 YEARS IN A BLINK OF AN EYE (psych/flower/pop/folk)
Label:WILDFLOWERMUSIC A 2007 collection of tracks by the re-united Wildflower, featuring songs the band played in the '60s, but never recorded during that time. Still has the psych/flower/pop/folk feel from that era. The CD comes with 8 page booklet with all lyrics and nice pictures. In 1965, "The Wildflower" began at California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland with Stephen Ehret on rhythm guitar, Tom Ellis on drums, John Jennings on bass, Teddy Schneider played percussion, Michael Brown played lead guitar, and the whole band sang. Stephen wrote the songs for the band and also collaborated with poets, Michael McClure and Michael McCausland. The band was soon playing venues all around the Bay Area and was one of the original psychedelic 60s groups developing the San Francisco Sound that reached maturity during the Summer of Love. They played both the Fillmore and Avalon Ballrooms and toured extensively. Tom left to finish his education and Larry Duncan took over drums until his return. Teddy left the band before a tour back East. Following that, "The Wildflower" toured Canada with "The Youngbloods" and recorded with producer Jerry Corbitt. Just when it seemed their commercial success was secure, they disbanded.
Featured in movies and documentaries about the S.F. rock scene and immortalized in psychedelic poster art, the Wildflower remains a part of the colorful tapestry that was the magic of the sixties CD $12 SKU:21107

WITCHES- A Haunted Person's Guide To (psych - Label:ALIVE "The best band that you never heard" of is a term that is commonly thrown around with much ado but in the case of The Witches it may well be true. Born in Detroit in 1996 from the mind of bass player Troy Gregory (Dirtbombs, Killing Joke) and with the help of fellow Michigan natives John Nash (Electric Six, LCD Soundsystem) on guitar, and producer Jim Diamond (White Stripes, Von Bondies) on electric twelve-string, The Witches went on to record five amazing albums between 1996 and 2006, with the help of a revolving line-up of Michigan musicians, before vanishing into thin air. "A Haunted Person's Guide To The Witches" compiles material from the band's five albums, and is a comprehensive introduction to the band's unique sound. CD $5 SKU:12502

WOOLLY BANDITS- Say Hello to My Little Friend- (60s garage style) ) Label:DIONYSUS UNSEALED Drilled bar code Say Hello to My Little Friend by The Woolly Bandits Former Disney Star Turns Woman of Mass Destruction! The Woolly Bandits we're born in 2004 from the resurrection of 1960's garage rock legends The Seeds as the new back-up band. Los Angeles Veteran Rock N' Roll Crusader, Rik Collins, rescued acid-guru, and way-out Seeds front man Sky Saxon from virtual obscurity in 2002. Rik Collins (vocals, bass) and Mark Bellgraph (guitar) formed the new back-up band for Sky Saxon and toured Europe three times and helped to bring Sky back to prominence before his passing last year. The audiences, press and promoters wanted to know who this new young band was. It was at this point the bands European booking agent suggested they start their own band, and The Woolly Bandits were born. The band named themselves after a nickname one of Sky's girlfriends had given him and released, in 2006, their debut album "Say Hello To My Little Friend" on Dionysus Records as a three piece. In 2005, The Woolly Bandits made an important addition to the group, Christa Collins (formerly Christa Larson. When Christa Collins joined the Woolly Bandits, she had not performed since a guest appearance on Michael Jackson's "Heal the World" in 1991. As Disney's first recording artist and the prototype for the child music star (Christa Larson - Minnie and Me), her career was on a trajectory for stardom. And then tragedy struck. While on tour in Australia supporting her new CD, Christa's mother, Denice, was tragically killed by a hit-and-run driver. Christa was no longer the same girl after losing her mother, manager, and guiding force. Disney released Christa from her recording contract shortly after, at age 12. It would be years and many transformations before Christa returned to the stage. CD $3 SKU:17579

This time the gang went to Costa Mesa, CA, to record "Big Deal. What's He Done Lately?"
