KROKODIL-The First Recordings 60s Krautrock legends 180 gram vinyl—also includes bonus region free DVD! -Label:KROKODIL First official reissue of the second Krokodil album, "Swamp". The infectious album, originally issued by Liberty in 1970, shows a band in flux between the scorching boogie-blues workouts of their eponymous debut and the massive stoned psych action of their third album masterpiece ("An Invisible World Revealed,"). Many German and Swiss groups attempted to sing in English to broaden their audience and virtually all failed to do so. Yet "Swamp" reveals itself to be one of the best examples of this phenomena, venturing into Van Morrison, Fairport Convention, and even Wailers territory at times, even as the rest of the band experimented with sitars, flutes and avant percussion. A great artistic development for the band without ever drifting into pop clichés. Recorded at Bavaria-Tonstudios, München. Comes on 180-gram vinyl, presented in a gatefold sleeve with an embossed crocodile leather front cover. The printed inner sleeve offers many previously unpublished photographs. •First official reissue of the second Krokodil album•180 gram vinyl in a gatefold sleeve with an embossed crocodile leather front cover LP $29 SKU:17007

THEE PROPHETS- Playgirl- SEALED ORIGINAL w drill hole-Label:KAPP This band from Wisconsin had a promising pop future, thanks to their minor Bubblegum/sunshine pop hit ‘Playgirl,’ but stopped recording after this 1969 album, and then ditched the bubble-gum sound for Jimi Hendrix and Cream covers in concert. So much for a career. This, from Bubblegum University: “The most common schizophrenic theme, paranoia, combines the self-centeredness of narcissism with the hopelessness of depression to make the sufferer feel as if the entire world is against them. Two songs, "It's Up to You, Petula," and the Rare Breed's "Beg, Borrow, and Steal," make the comparison of being kept on a string as a way to illustrate the mental control that someone has over them. The singer in "Dizzy" makes no such metaphor, but admits to the object of his affections, "Girl, you got control of me." "It's Up to You, Petula" illustrates a different type of paranoia, when the singer complains, "I know you've been seeing someone else." The singer in Thee Prophets' "Playgirl" makes the same complaint when he talks about a girl who's been "running 'round on [him]."this band from Wisconsin had a promising pop future, thanks to their minor Bubblegum/sunshine pop hit ‘Playgirl,’ but stopped recording after this 1969 album, and then ditched the bubble-gum sound for Jimi Hendrix and Cream covers in concert. GRAVEYARD FIVE - The Graveyard Theme ( masterpiece of 60s U.S. garage rock ) -Label:STANCO BWThe Marble Orchard . A true masterpiece of 60s U.S. garage rock finally reissued after more than 45 years. Very limited pressing of only 500 copies, with replica labels. Fully authorized, licensed, restored and remastered. The first ever reissue of the legendary Graveyard Five single: 'The Graveyard Theme' b/w 'The Marble Orchard' (Stanco SR-102), one of the true "holy grails" of garage rock. This is truly one of the rarest 45s in the world, with only a handful of original copies known to exist; no surprise then that they sell for more than $4,500! 'The Graveyard Theme,' an exercise in fuzz guitar excess, was apparently inspired by a Ouija board session. The B side is the fuzz soaked reverb-laden monster, 'The Marble Orchard', which tells the true tale of the creepy, wet October night the band spent in the cemetery; they were convinced they saw something move from behind a tombstone and then heard "a wolfpack howl". If the circumstances and subject matter of these songs isn't creepy enough, the recording studio where these songs were recorded was supposedly haunted by a spectre that provided guest background vocals in the form of a growling noise thats clearly audible near the end of 'The Marble Orchard'. 45 RPM $12 SKU:15901

SECICH, FRANK - Circumstantial Evidence -Label:High Voltage Publishing Frank's autobiography featuring untold stories of Franks' rock and roll journey with his bands Blue Ash, The Dead Boys, Stiv Bators Band, Club Wow and his current band The Deadbeat Poets plus many other stories from Franks life. He certainly has some great tales to tell and has encountered many famous people along the way - we could name drop but the list is way to long. BOOKS & MAGS $16 SKU:17079

UGLY THINGS- #40- Flamin Groovies, The Human Expression , exclusive interviews with the late Dave Hassinger (studio engineer for the 1964-66 Rolling Stones 1964-66, Jefferson Airplane, and the Electric Prunes, Steve Katz (Blues Project; Blood, Sweat & Tears), and Denny Tedesco, director of The Wrecking Crew. Also, Cyril Jordan of the Flamin’ Groovies revisits the years 1970-71 and the making of the seminal Teenage Head album. BOOKS & MAGS $10 SKU:17071

BLISS (USA)- Return to Bliss ( legendary 70s psych trio ) new lo price -Label:HALLUCINATIONS Arizona power-trio Bliss' second album, previously unreleased. How can that be, you ask? During the making of the classic eponymous Bliss LP (released on Canyon in 1968/69), the band recorded two LP's at once—the second was never released, until now. Raw, heavy power trio action from Arizona (Brad Reed, Rusty Martin and Corky Aldred), very powerful indeed; producer, as on the Canyon LP, was Hadely Murrell. Some feel that ‘Hippies, Cops And A Bunch Of Rocks’ and ‘Music Train’ are destined to become classics of the psychedelic genre CD $14 SKU:8402

CATHERINE’S HORSE- Garage Blues from Connecticut SAALE - Label:BREAK- A-WAY RECORDS (Germany) Due to a long time growing interest into local 60s rock, most band stories, even of those who did put out rare and local records, have since been written. Not so with Connecticut band Catherine´s Horse. Their sole album dates from 1969 and was released only in an inner sleeve and no cover. Due to its rarity it is still a largely unknown release among today's record collectors and honoured with five stars in Hans Pokora’s “1001 Record Collectors Dream Book”. But those who happen to be familiar with it, appreciate it for the fresh sound of the music and the clear production. That and the fact, that it’s an amazing white blues rock album with a strong garage attitude provided by five high school students who never played professionally. The tracks are nearly all cover versions of classic, often moody blues tracks reminiscent of early Paul Butterfield Blues Band or Blues Project. The LP incl. long time standards such as “Good Morning Little School Girl”, “Think Twice”, “One More Mile” or “Can’t Keep From Cryin” mixed with covers of Jimmy Brenstons’ “Rocket 88” or Jagger / Richards “Good Times, Bad Times”. The only group original ''Sun Going Down'' hints at the talent and potential the band had and rounds off the groups effortless white electric bluesrock expertise. As the vinyl release from 15 month ago, this CD release comes with the originally intended coloured cover-art. The detailed booklet has the band’s history as related by original members Roger Goodspeed, Jay Geary and Putnam Smith, alongside rare photos and memorabilia. A 100% legit release and a must for late 60s rock collectors.

CYNICS- Rock ‘N’ Roll- ( 60s style garage )Label:GET HIP Third album by Pittsburgh’s Garage finest. This release from 1990 featured a major lineup change for the Cynics, and showed the band continuing to mature as writers and musicians. Cuts like “Now I’m Alone” and “Girl, You’re on My Mind” (the latter penned for the Cynics by the Mystic Eyes Bernie Kugel) are hits that should have been. Other cuts like “What You Get,” “Business As Usual,” “Baby, What’s Wrong” and “Way It’s Gonna Be” show the Cynics at a peak of energy, creativity and ability. This release also includes a few well-chosen covers of forgotten classics from the sixties, revitalized with the Cynics style and skill. “Cry, Cry, Cry” and “Last Time Around” are scorchers, while “The Room” shows the Cynics lighter side. This album is a true classic. If you didn’t get it before, get it now! CD $12 SKU:10902

MICHAEL ANGELO - DBL CD w S/T" (Guinn Sessions) + "Sorcerer's Dream" + "Nuts" -Label:LION Stunning work from Michael Angelo – a little-known singer/songwriter from the Kansas City scene of the late 70s – one with a style that's totally great, but way too off the era's chronological expectations to get much notice at the time! Michael's music has a real late 60s vibe – some of the trippier folk modes of someone like Donovan, but mixed with the more complete songwriting of an artist like Nilsson or some of the hipper LA writers of the late 60s – all recorded in this laidback, understated way – especially for the 70s – with acoustic guitar most strongly in the mix, and a few other light rhythm touches and keyboards. The production's sharper than folk, but not much more so – and the music here is a great reminder that while we can look at the rock and roll timeline, and think that the punk explosion of the mid 70s was changing everything at once – out in the hinterlands there were still folks like Angelo who were dedicated to refining an older craft. The CD features a huge amount of material – the full original self-titled album, more tracks from those sessions, and a full second album recorded around the same time. 32 tracks on 2CDs, with lots of notes too – and titles that include "Field Of Lonely Eyes", "Future", "Journey To Find Who We Are", "Russian Lament", "Nubian Queen", "This Is The Night", "Love Is Too High", "Spirits Of Mercury", and "SOS Titanic CD $15 SKU:16805

MILLENIUM - Pieces ( 60s sunshine pop /psych ) - Label:VOICEPRINT (England) By 1969, the Millennium, Curt Boettcher (who was also an independently contracted producer for Columbia Records), executive producer Gary Usher of the band’s “Begin” album, and a slew of Usher-produced acts like Gene Clark, the Peanut Butter Conspiracy and Chad & Jeremy, were all let go by the label. Combined with the internal conflicts the Millennium were experiencing, and multiplied by the inherent pressures of their rock-n-roll lifestyles, the loss of their recording contract was a fatal blow for the group. The Millennium disbanded in 1969, leaving behind a classic one-shot "desert island" LP. Yet the Millennium's breakup did not eliminate all interest in the group. Somewhere along the line, enough "people in the know" purchased or were handed copies of their album, and soon a small but devoted cult began to form around the record. For whatever reason, a good amount of unrealized Millennium material languished in the vaults. It is an incredible revelation to finally hear these missing puzzle pieces which reveal a band of enormous depth and songwriting talent. After listening to these unreleased demos, the divine results of the cosmically profound collaborative effort known as the Millennium become even more apparent. Unlike most of the concurrent L.A. super-groups (e.g. Rhinoceros), the members of the Millennium actually gelled musically. The various band members engaged in a variety of writing partnerships that resulted in some of the most beautiful (if under-appreciated) music of their era. Essential listening for sunshine pop and psych-pop fans! CD $10 SKU:12228

To this day, these multi talented sisters are known as the teenagers who dared to go where women had not gone before, against all odds, stomping their way into a male-dominated heavy rock scene. In their brief lifespan, though, they recorded one truly magical and timeless album, along with a handful of singles, all beautifully crafted and imbued with beguiling atmospheres and melodies. Formed in the late 60s in the northern coastal town of Bergen, Mayfly recorded their self-titled album for Ariola in 1973, working with Wally Taxs producer Martin Duiser. This reissue features two bonus tracks, the non-LP single Skew-eyed Jimmy and the alternate 45 version of the groups first single, that jaunty, Ray Davies-inspired Blue Sofa. Pop LP $26 SKU:15561

MOTIONS - Wasted Words,The Havoc 45S(60s Dutch)- Label:PSEUDONYM RECORDS (NETHERLANDS) When The Motions crashed into the Dutch charts at the beginning of 1965 with Its Gone, they opened the floodgates for a tidal wave of young Dutch bands. Few of them, though, could match the pure excitement etched into the grooves of The Motions 1965-66 singles, featuring the definitive lineup of singer Rudy Bennett, songwriter/guitarist Robbie van Leeuwen, bass player Henk Smitskamp and drummer Sieb Warner. That magnificent procession of songs is laid out for all to hear in dynamically remastered sound on Wasted Words: The HAVOC 45s. The raw, frenetic thrash of Its Gone and We Fell In Love, vibrant, mournful laments like Ive Got Misery, For Another Man and Ill Follow The Sun, the stark socially-conscious folk-rock of Wasted Words, the explosive freakbeat of Everything Thats Mine and the sophisticated pop balladry of My Love Is Growing - all written by master songsmith (and future Shocking Blue mastermind) Robbie van Leeuwen. The latter song so impressed co-producer Scott Walker that he recorded it with the Walker Brothers. Pressed on 180 gram vinyl, Wasted Words features a top quality 350 gram carton gatefold sleeve featuring rare photos and all of the original picture sleeve artwork. REMASTERED IN THE 24-BIT DOMAIN FROM THE ORIGINAL MASTER TAPES LP $26 SKU:14504

TIN HOUSE- ST (70s powerhouse rock ) w liners, rare photos, insert plus pic slv EP -Label:LION Includes everything Tin House recorded for Epic, including two previously unreleased tracks and the elusive (and unique) single versions of 'I Want Your Body' and 'Be Good and Be Kind. Taken directly from 24-bit/96kHz master tape transfers. Four panel insert has liner notes by Doug Sheppard (Ugly Things) Photos from the archive of drummer Mike Logan.
Tin House were so good—their music was a hard-rocking onslaught of lust, chops and powerhouse riffs that gripped like an alligator bite—they were signed to Epic Records out of high school. They were respected by Leslie West and Johnny and Edgar Winter. Their album (released in 1971) was produced by Rick Derringer. But like other almost famous bands, Tin House fell away into unjust obscurity. Tin House's focus was on heavy rock like the sex-fueled opener, ‘I Want Your Body,' and standout track ‘Be Good and Be Kind,’ with a catchy up-and-down, down-and-up riff played adeptly by guitar prodigy Floyd Radford, and a driving monster beat laid down by drummer Mike Logan; the song tears in as a fast as a Florida hurricane and sweeps the listener up into its vortex for two-and-a-half minutes of energized bliss. Yet the album also showed diversity: Radford’s melancholy ballad ‘Tomorrow;’ the jivin’ honky tonk of ‘30 Weight Blues’ (a tribute to the band’s 1962 Ford Econoline van); ‘Lady of the Silent Opera,’ which featured orchestration by seasoned studio musicians from New York City’s Local 802 Union to underscore its positive message of “look to the heaven—smile to the blue sky.” Lean, fluid, tight, and the best hard rock album from the USA you probably never heard of (until now)!
"In the twinkling universe of virtuoso electric guitarists that followed in the wake of the genre’s progenitor Jimi Hendrix, perhaps one of the most deserving of renewed recognition is Floyd Radford of the band Tin House, a little known three piece that signed briefly to CBS records in 1970 and released one highly prized album a year later. The overdriven, fluid guitar work—heavy on the wah-wah pedal—is brought to the fore by a beefy full production that lifts the band above the sludgy audio presentation that bedevilled many heavy rock albums of the era." —Richard Allen, Shindig!
