NEW ARRIVALS

ANALOGY -THE SUITE (ultra rare 70s heavy Krautrock/Prog Label:OHRWASCHL Reissue of ultra rare private pressing of German heavy krautadelic/progressive album from the early 70's. Includes a collection of late recordings on which the band plays in a more classic acoustic style. LP $22 SKU:21588

BLACK SPIRIT -ST( 69-78 Black Sabbath style) GATEFOLD Label:OHRWASCHL The album is mainly a hard rock affair in Black Sabbath style, sung in English, with some rock-blues influences—very far from the typical Italian sound. According to the sleeve-notes, the tracks had been recorded between 1969 and 1978. The style is heavy progressive, with some Cream, Man, and Quicksilver influences, with plenty of choice moments. all the members of this band were of Italian origin working in Germany, and it was in that nation that their super rare first and only album was released by the small and collectible Brutkasten label. LP $22 SKU:21589

DIES IRAE -First (sole release from acid drenched heavy blues prog band 1971) Label:OHRWASCHL Sole effort from heavy progressive group who recorded their album 'First' (1971) for the Pilz before the label fell into the hands of Rolf-Ulrich Kaiser; the album owes much to the heavy blues sound and occult nature of Black Sabbath's classic debut album. Song titles such as 'Lucifer', 'Harmagedon Dragonlove', and 'Witches Meeting' give an indication of the groups interests. The standout track for Krautrock fans is sure to be the seven-minute freak out 'Trip', a spacey track which begins with an outstanding electronic collage that gives way to a peaceful free flowing jam with acid-drenched celestial vocals. As for the rest of the album, 'Lucifer' contains ultra aggressive guitar and harmonica riff slightly reminiscent of Sabbath’s 'The Wizard'; 'Witches Meeting' is an extended track with numerous musical sections, and contains a rocking guitar solo and a furious ending. Engineered by the “third member of Neu!”, Conny Plank. LP $22 SKU:21590

FANTASYY FACTORYY-This Is The Future Of Tomorrow (70s prog/psych style). .. Label:OHRWASCHL WITH INSERT . Contains two tracks which have been released only on CD ,and a lot of mind-blowing , brand new songs! The cover depicts a rare painting by German Surrealist Helmut Wenske. With their seventh release on vinyl Fantasyy Factoryy keep on playing their own style based on 70’s progressive/psychedelic. (Sounds Like This, A Tab In The Ocean, Remember The Future, Recycled), Steel Mill, Orange Peel or Dzyan for example . With their music Fantasyy Factoryy develop their authentic style – you can hear lots of guitar work, expressive vocals, powerhouse drumming, rocking organ riffs and melodic cello-playing. The album is pressed on 180g-vinyl, comes in a high quality sleeve and contains an insert with lyrics and information about the recording history. LP $22 SKU:21594

FRANZ K -Sensemann (Freaky sychedelic polit-Krautrock c. 1972)-Label:OHRWASCHL “Sensemann” is the first album by the German band Franz K. The band plays in a guitar-bass-drums trio set-up. Formed in Witten in 1969 as Franz Kafka, in their early days they were one of those very Teutonic underground rock bands, akin to Ton Steine Scherben or Lokomotive Kreuzberg, with a hard-edged agit-rock style. Their strong anti-capitalist lyrics more or less place them in the German polit-rock scene. By the time of their debut (becoming just Franz K.) they had matured their sound from the early days of Fugs and Mothers style theatre in German. “Sensemann” featured just two side-long tracks offering a great deal of freedom for invention, with aggressive German lyrics and similarly angular freaky guitars characterizing their sound. LP $22 SKU:21595

MCCHURCH SOUNDROOM- Delusion( Rare 70s Krautrock) gATEFOLDLabel:OHRWASCHL The album cover of this rare Krautrock album is devoid of information (except that the lyrics are by Marcel Schaar), so any history of the band is impossible. Nevertheless, it is long established as a major Krautrock title. Here is what Crack in the Cosmic Egg says about it: “starting deceptively in folk-rock realms, “Delusion” moves around a lot, never sitting comfortably within any genre; it is largely instrumental, bridging psychedelic, hard-rock and fusion, being variably comparable to Gomorrah, Thirsty Moon and other such bands. Perhaps the nearest comparison is Gravy Train's superb debut, which similarly featured flute in a variety of rock and fusion styles. A classic!” Engineered by the “third member of Neu!”, Conny Plank. LP $22 SKU:21591

PATERNOSTER -ST (acid fueled Krautrock 1972) -Label:OHRWASCHL Prime Krautrock (albeit from Austria), circa 1972—what goths would have listened too had there been goths back then! hippy psychedelic acid-fueled downer rock, complete with full-blown psychedelic guitar freakouts, coupled with somber church-like organ and a vocalist who sounds on the verge of tears throughout the album. Oh so sad. This is a complex album, to be sure, with terrific flights into the cosmos often compared to those fine Krautrock exemplars Gila and Virus. A most melancholic, wonderful record, the sort of thing that all too often is relegated to the prog/psych collectors corner; an odd, but excellent, hidden treasure that shares a dark mentality with the likes of Comus. LP $22 SKU:21592

SPOT - ST (rare 1971 Swiss heavy rock album in the Deep Purple/Taste/Led Zeppelin style.) GATEFOLDLabel:Ohrwaschl Reissue of rare 1971 Swiss heavy rock album in the Deep Purple/Taste/Led Zeppelin style. Features two bonus tracks. Spot's single, eponymous album was released in 1972 and is one of Switzerland's rarest collector's items from the 1970s.Part of its mystique comes from the fact that its only availability outside the relatively few copies of the LP in existence was on a bootleg vinyl release. LP $22 SKU:21593

HEATHCLIFF, JUSTIN- ST (70s paisley pop psych) - Label:WORLD PSYCHEDELIA "Long before attaining fame as a soundtrack composer and new age artist, Osamu Kitajima adopted a sufficiently Anglo pseudonym and released this amazing homage to British pop-psychedelia in 1971. Issued by Warner Bros. in Japan only, the LP has unsurprisingly climbed skywards in price ever since, and only a cave dweller could miss the faithful nods to Syd, Marc, John, Paul, George and Ringo in the original compositions and English lyrics. Osamu's ability around a studio was evident even then and the choice of genre to lovingly imitate predated the whole retro/'paisley' psych movement by about ten or fifteen years." CD $10 SKU:5970

P205-ST - Rare 1975 psych recordings. Label:OHRWASCHL Rare 1975 recordings made before their famous collectable album. Founded in Wendelstein near Nuremberg in 1970, P205’s sole LP ("Vivat Progressio pereat mundus”) saw a release only in 1978. Long before the band KISS became famous in Europe, these guys were delivering unique live shows with pyrotechnics, burning torches and fog in a sinister decor with their faces painted. The music is leaning between a progressive and mystical edge close to Pink Floyd and the harder raw and darker side of Black Sabbath and Paternoster. These early recordings feature guitar/organ driven psychedelic hard rock with a rough-edged, underground sound CD $16 SKU:20166

SATWA-Lailson, Lula Côrtes (1973 Brazilian Folk trance gems)Label:TIME LAG Written, recorded and released just as Brazil's military dictatorship reached the climax of its long black arc, the one and only album by Satwa is a divinely subtle protest. Now reissued for the first time, Satwa, often cited as Brazil's first independent record, is a mellow starburst of acoustic jangle. Formed after the return of Lula Côrtes and Lailson from their respective foreign excursions (the former home after the requisite Moroccan sojourn, the latter a young long-hair back from the States), Satwa lasted only a year, perhaps due to their differing stripes. But for 11 days in January 1973 the pair jammed cross-legged and produced the folk trance gems that adorn this self-titled debut. At a time when censors caused newspapers to run cake recipes on their front pages in place of rejected news stories, Lailson only lets the occasional throat drone slip through his lips. Largely void of voice and word, the songs (Côrtes plucking steely leads from his sitar while Lailson's 12-string thrums crystalline chords) are loose and lovely. The sole interference in these glistening arabesques is the hoary electric fretwork Robertinho on ‘Blues do Cachorro Muito Louco,’ the most explicitly fried track. Otherwise, Côrtes and Lailson are left to experiment in musty silence. Seemingly taped live, each track is a dry documentation of the duo's gently rambling improvisations. Far from the recombinant psychedelia of tropicalismo that reigned over the pre-hippie underground in Brazil's bustling metropolises five years earlier, Satwa play bed peace bards. In double-mono, or fake stereo, Satwa is raw, untreated mentalism translated into pure songflow. At times exhausted and dusty – ‘Atom,’ or archaically splendorous (‘Valse Dos Cogumelos’), the duo's spiraling scrolls etched in rustic timbres unfurl gracefully. Satwa is a quiet triumph.” —Bernardo Rondeau, Dusted. The CD version is identical to the out of print LP version, only smaller—it comes in a mini LP style sleeve, with folded insert. CD $10 SKU:20304

SUBJECT ESQ.- LOST TAPES (1972 fusion prog rock) Label:Ohrwaschl Complex progressive rock with fusion elements, showing classical influences, and demonstrating superb musicianship throughout. Comparable to many other bands of the era, like Thirsty Moon, Camel, etc.—in fact, they have a similar degree of complexity and inventiveness (multi-tracked sax and guitars, and so on) to many bands from the Canterbury scene. Subject Esq. had unique touches of their own, with an unusual use of vocals, time signatures, and a wide range of solo instruments, all of which are given plenty of room in the lengthy instrumental sections. An odd major label album, so perhaps it’s no surprise that they left CBS to record their more esoteric Sahara albums CD $15 SKU:21475

YORKS, LOS- Los Yorks ‘67(amazing Peruvian 60’s garage psych) Label:World Psychedelia A reissue of the first album by this garage psych quartet, who along with Los Saicos and Los Shains, are one of the best and most important bands to come out of Peru in the mid-1960s. Originally released by Mag in 1967, the album features a nonstop beat-influenced, go-go twang, guitar-psych tone throughout. CD $8 SKU:1123

Africa Airways One & Two-Funk Connecion 1973-80 /Funk Departurures 1973-1982Label:CHERRY RED First released in 2015 as two separate vinyl compilations, “Africa Airways” is a deep exploration into the furthest parts of 1970’s and early 1980’s African Funk and Cherry Red are proud to join forces with the ace London/Paris label Africa Seven to collect the two volumes together on CD for the first time. The last decade has seen the un-tapping of an apparent endless well of music from the mother continent and this compilation (in our not so biased opinion) uncovers some of the cream of the crop and stands as one of the finest exponents of the African take on the music that it directly influenced, that being the funk and disco from the USA.Featuring music from Cameroon, Nigeria, South Africa and the international African diaspora with artists including Manu Dibango, Jo Tongo and Jake Sollo this a truly pan-African affair, full of analogue synths, polyrhythms, rich vocals, jangling guitars and production slicker than oil. For lovers of music to get down to, this will make your rubber soled shoes burn. The original pressing of the vinyl compilations sold out so quickly that another two represses had to be made to keep up with demand. For those not to latch on to the vinyl resurgence and prefer the old school CD format, this compilation is the one for you!!! File under: Funk, Makossa, Highlife, Awesome. COMP CD $15 SKU:21303

BEAUTIFUL DREAMS -Ember Sixties Pop: Volume 5, Ember Girls (66-69) Label:FANTASTIC VOYAGE The concluding chapter of the Ember Sixties Pop series, which covers the years 1966 to 1969, and compiles the releases of three fine female singers. The publicity conscious Ember boss Jeffrey Kruger saw an opportunity to promote supermodel Twiggy as a singer, and signed her to the label in 1966. Her two singles were written and produced by Tommy Scott, who had overseen Twinkle’s hits ‘Terry’ and ‘Golden Lights.’ At the time, the singles became huge hits in Japan, which resulted in Twiggy appearing at the Budokan Hall in Tokyo, not singing her songs but parading the latest fashions while a local group played Beatles covers as accompaniment! Linda Thorson was a television favorite as the glamorous sidekick on The Avengers TV series. Ember revealed the singing side of her talents via a deal in 1968 with singer-songwriter/producer Kenny Lynch. Lynch came up with four very commercial songs for the recording sessions: ‘Here I Am’ ‘Better Than Losing You,’ ‘A Bad Time To Stop Loving Me,’ and ‘I’ll Just Pick Up My Heart.’ Linda’s next Ember session occurred in May 1970 in Beverly Hills, so, for completeness sake, they have extended the timeline to present those three songs in this compilation. Julie Rogers, a powerful singer with stunning looks, shot to fame in 1964 when her second Philips single, ‘The Wedding’ was a transatlantic hit both in the UK and USA. Her next contract was signed with Ember in 1969. Two sets of sessions that year produced the fourteen tracks that made up her album “Once More With Feeling,” presented here in its entirety. All recordings are mastered from tapes and the booklet is illustrated with sleeve and label shots. The original Ember records are highly collectable: so you can’t beat these great beat and rock collections from the Ember vaults. Nice shrink-wrapped slip-case packaging COMP CD $8 SKU:19204

GROOVE CLUB 2- VA Cambodia Rock Spectactular 70s rock w 36 page booklet w photos -Label:LION Packaged in a deluxe casebook with a 36-page booklet filled with rare photos and the heart-wrenching stories of the most beloved artists in the Khmer Rock movement . Most of these tracks were recorded live, with traditional instruments finding a place alongside any keyboards or guitars that could be found. And yet, it was these experiments of Khmer rock musicians which transformed the nightlife of the Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh—and which many years later have seduced countless listeners around the world with their groovy sound. Alas, in 1975 came an entirely different type of transformation: the rise to power in Cambodia of the fanatical, anti-Western Khmer Rouge, led by Pol Pot. Within roughly four years, implementing their “concept of Year Zero,” Pot and his regime were responsible for the deaths of an estimated two million Cambodians, many in the notorious “killing fields.” Even the most famous and beloved Khmer musicians could not escape. Sinn Sisamouth (“the Emperor of Khmer Music”), Ros Sereysothea (“The Golden Voice of the Royal Capital”), and Pan Ron—all featured on this collection—met their deaths at the hands of the Khmer Rouge. Cambodian rock music is (rightfully) adored in Cambodia. The music is wild and anarchic, rhythmic and undulating (in an “Ethiopiques” way, we’d say), or sweet and lyrical, but always moving, and with that deep soulfulness (regardless of actual musical genre or style) that singles out the best music. We have assembled what we consider to be the most definitive collection of classic Cambodian rock music to appear thus far—without the later overdubs that confuse the mind, without the artificial speeding up of tracks that often has marred compilations over the years; what you’ll find here are crucial Khmer rock tracks, made available in the best possible sound, assembled with love and respect for the artists who made the Khmer rock scene as thrilling as we find it to be. And so, without further ado, welcome to “Cambodia Rock Spectactular!” COMP CD $10 SKU:12985

ABUELO , MIGUEL & NADA -ST (A stunning blend of psychedelia, hard-rock and prog-folk ) Label:GUERSSON "A stunning blend of psychedelia, hard-rock and prog-folk courtesy of MIGUEL ABUELO, the legendary Argentinean rock pioneer. Recorded and released only in France in 1975, featuring some top Argentinean musicians such as killer guitar player DANIEL SBARRA. Original artwork in gatefold sleeve and insert with lyrics, rare photos and liner notes by Daniel Sbarra. Miguel Ángel Peralta aka Miguel Abuelo was a musician, poet and singer from Buenos Aires, Argentine. During the Sixties, he was the leader of early psychedelic band Los Abuelos de la Nada, who released a highly sought-after 45 in 1968. In the early 70s, Miguel, a free spirit, left Argentina for Europe and he ended up busking in Paris. There, he formed a band called NADA featuring guitar player Daniel Sbarra and other expat Argentinean musicians. Supported by their producer, Moshé Naïm, who was fascinated with Miguel’s personality and voice, they registered in France their only album, recorded circa 1973 but actually released in 1975 on Moshé’s own label, just when the band had decided to part ways. Housed in a beautiful gatefold cover depicting Miguel in full hippie-fashion along with his little child Gato Azul, “Miguel Abuelo & Nada” is simply one of the best Argentinean rock albums ever recorded. Miguel and Daniel managed to create a very unique sound, powerful yet delicate, highlighted by Miguel's hearfelt vocals (sometimes treated as just another instrument), outstanding guitar playing by Daniel (listen to him doing one of the early known examples of proto-metal tapping on 'Tirando piedras al río'), well crafted songs and deep, poetic lyrics. The album was recorded at a state-of-the-art studio located in the countryside and was carefully produced: electric & acoustic guitars, bass, drums, flute, keyboards (including Moog), cello, violin… "Miguel Abuelo & Nada" is now widely regarded worldwide as a legendary, cult album and we're thrilled to present a top-notch vinyl reissue. BRAINBOX- Dark Rose (60s Dutch psych ) - Label:PSEUDONYM It comes packaged in a magnificent gatefold-cover with rare photos and liner-notes including exclusive interview material. Remastered in the 24-bit domain from the original master tapes. Brainbox was something special. The band not only featured some of the Netherlands' most preternaturally talented musicians, but in less than three years they produced a recorded legacy that was truly world class. Much of their best work appeared on their 1969-71 singles, which have been compiled on this definitive 2-LP collection, pressed on 180gm vinyl and dynamically re-mastered from the original tapes. The original lineup with lead-guitarist Jan Akkerman, bassist Andr Reijnen, drummer Pierre van der Linden and vocalist extraordinaire Kaz Lux deliver the goods on pile-driving blues rock songs like 'Down Man' and 'Dark Rose,' and the hard-hitting Hendrix-inspired rocker 'Amsterdam, The First Days' -- all presented in their original mono mixes. After Akkermans departure, Brainbox expanded its musical palette with guitarists Rudy de Queljoe (ex-Dragonfly) and John Schuursma (ex-Rob Hoekes R&B Group), recording memorable tracks like 'Between Alpha And Omega,' 'Doomsday Train,' 'Mobilae' and the blisteringly powerful 'Virgin.' Dark Rose / Their 45s also includes previously unreleased demo-versions of 'Virgin,' 'Dark Rose' and the epic 'Sea Of Delight.' LP $26 SKU:14720

ELOY - ST (1971 German prog) 180 GRAM DELUXELabel:MISSING VINYL LP w/die-cut cover)Originally released on Philips in 1971. First ever audiophile edition w/exact replica of the original die cut cover. Taken from the original master tapes. Official, deluxe 180g vinyl pressing; 1000 pieces limited. "The debut recording from one of Germany's most accomplished progressive rock bands. The band was originally co-led by vocalist Erich Schriever and guitarist Frank Bornemann, and the two differed on musical direction, which is evident here. The band was essentially a hard rock act at this time with a sound similar to Black Sabbath and Atomic Rooster. Although their technical abilities are not yet fully developed, it has an intrinsic quality. 'Today,' in particular, demonstrates the band's abilities to create catchy songs. While Eloy would move in a more progressive direction, which would yield more consistent results, they would never sound as honest and vulnerable as they do here. One of progressive rock's most underrated bands." LP $25 SKU:20931

INDEX - Originals Vol. 1 (1967-68( the holy grail of psych! ) Label:LION All of the original compositions from the band's two self-released holy grails of psychedelia (the Black Album and the Red Album, from 1967-68) combined into one collection—all newly transferred from the original tapes!
