“Handsome Jack plays a powerful and emotional fusion of boogie soul rock ‘n’ roll that has earned the admiration of fellow rock travelers such as Chris Robinson (CRB, Black Crowes), Zachary Gabbard (Buffalo Killers) and Ben McLeod of All Them Witches, who produced their new record.”

NEW ARRIVALS

A BOLHA - Um Passo A Frente (70s gatefold cover)- Label:GROOVIE Brazilian band the Bubbles became the toast of the underground Rio de Janeiro scene, backing Tropicalist singer Gal Costas residence at the Sucata night club in 1970. They won the "Best Band of the Festival" award at the VII FIC of 1971 (International Festival of Songs), the same year they appeared on Lenos "Vida y obra de Johnny McCartney" album. After venturing to England to attend the Isle of Wight Festival, they decided to experiment with a heavier sound, more akin to UK bands of that era (Deep Purple, Cream, King Crimson, Humble Pie, with a little Beatles "White Album" in for good measure) than that of their Brazilian cohorts. A name change to A Bolha later, still loaded with verve and swagger, fueled by drugs, they recorded their first album, which has secured a permanent place as one of the best hard psych rock albums to ever emerge from South America. The LP, "Um Passo a frente" (A step forward), was released in 1973 by the Continental label, in a gatefold cover which was quite luxurious for the era. This masterpiece, now impossibly hard to find as an original, certainly made a name for A Bolha in the pantheon of 1970s Brazilian rock. But success in the early 1970s was not like it had once been in the old Jovem Guarda or Tropicalist days, when bands had weekly TV shows to help them become well- known nationwide-and eventually, worldwide. In other words, the meager abilities of Continental to promote the album made it a collectors item, not the fate a band would actively seek for their recordings. The lp is a replica in a gatefold cover, and includes the infamous hard- rocking 1971 single as bonus tracks. LP $22 SKU:12031

BANDA DO CASACO -Hoje há conquilhas (1977 Portuguese Prog-Folk Label:MUSICBAZZ (Greece) Acclaimed in 1977 as best record of the year in its own country, ''Hoje Há Conquilhas Amanhã Sabemos'' has long been unavailable in any format. In more recent years, worldwide acclaim has been given to this masterpiece, which has resulted in the original vinyl version changing hands for high values. Banda do Casaco was originally formed in 1973 by musicians from various musical areas, but the group always maintained a changing line-up. However, four names have played an essential role in their history: Nuno Rodrigues (ex-member of Música Novarum and Family Fair, composer and today a label manager), António Avelar Pinho (lyricist, who had previously written for Portuguese psychedelic group Filarmónica Fraude and is nowadays an author of children's books), Celso de Carvalho (classically trained cellist, also a member of avant-garde group Plexus, who died in 1998) and José Fortes (sound engineer, one of the best in Portugal in those times and still today). CD $14 SKU:20168

CONFLICT -The Ungovernable Force (1986 punkers)Label:MORTARHATE Conflict are notorious for their uncompromising stance, willing use of force, ultra-veganism and above all the lead singer Colin Jerwood and his seemingly limitless energy. This release is perhaps Conflict's finest hour, combining both their positive DIY message and some excellent anarcho-punk beats. Driving guitars, rapid drumming and meaningful vocals make this an excellent, if hard release. Some absolutely brilliant songs on here, including the self-titled track ‘The Ungovernable Force,’ the self-deprecating ‘Ungovernable Farce,’ the hilarious ‘Force or Service’ and blistering and loud ‘The Day Before.’ Not forgetting the final two closing tracks, ‘This is the ALF’ which is slowed down but very powerful and ‘To Be Continued,’ with the female vocalist asking the eternal question, "Do I stand alone in my search for freedom?" Truly revolutionary stuff. CD $10 SKU:20173

FANTASYY FACTORY - Ode to Life (Hendrix style psych)Label:OHRWASCHL Hendrix-style guitar combined with the best of the psychedelic Krautrock tradition; "Ode To Life" was the debut release (1996) by guitarist/singer/songwriter Alan Tepper, originally released on vinyl by Acme; produced by Gary Ramon of Sundial. "If I Like It" was first released in 1998 as a limited edition vinyl edition; the CD re-release came out in 2011. "Paintings From Inner Space" was recorded in 2004 and saw release in 2005; it confusingly has the same catalogue as the previous album... just for fun. CD $14 SKU:20162

GERARD MANSET -La Mort D’Orion (1970 French rebel)Label:WORLD It was the release of “La Mort D'orion” (his third album, that made self proclaimed ‘lifelong rebel and eternal failure’ Gerard Manset famous in his native France. This ambitious concept album opens with dissonant strings in a classical mode that could easily be part of a Bartok quartet; the music then evolves (after a sitar interlude) into a multi-part, nearly 25-minute long song with an epic sweep that seems to encompass and distill all the finest that French modernism has to offer, channeling the spirit of its literary innovators (from Nerval, Rimbaud, Apollonaire, and Cendras to the likes of Camus, Sartre, and Robbe-Grillet), while also benefiting from the advancements in studio sound pioneered by the likes of Pierre Henry at Pierre Schaffer’s studio at RTF. As our friends at Other Music have said, “moments of seemingly normal French chanson give way to subtle and psychologically disorienting manipulations of orchestral trappings—the results are very dark, very beautiful, and quite unlike anything you'd expect from French popular music.” Creepy in some parts, at others "serious" psychedelic/avant garde progressive psychedelia, with abundant dark orchestrated atmospheres; for those who don’t object to this approach it is an album that can only be described as a masterpiece. In the end, "La Mort d’Orion" proved to be both a critical and commercial triumph; indeed, it went on to sell more than 20,000 copies—a remarkable feat for such a strange and innovative album—and French critics showered it with rave reviews. Amazing that this has scarcely been noticed outside of France. Hefty booklet (20 pages) contains biographical information, and lyrics. CD $12 SKU:20172

HUNT & TURNER- Magic Landscape (1972 West Coast groove)-Label:LION Fabulous grooving folk rock sounds with plenty of atmosphere, first released by the much beloved Village Thing label in 1972. Ian Hunt and John Turner first teamed-up in the late summer of 1970, the inevitable collaboration of two of the West Country's most sought-after session musicians. CD $14 SKU:20171

NOSFERATU- ST (1970 osbscure Krautrock) Label:OHRWASCHL Amongst the most obscure of Krautrock bands, due to being so early and on an unlikely label. In their early days they were fronted by guitarist/vocalist Michael Winzkowski (who went on to Epsilon), but apart from that, nothing is known of their history, except that winds player Christian Felke also guested later with Epsilon. Nosferatu's sole eponymous album was housed in a sinister bizarre cover, that perfectly captured the dark edge of their music, being an atypical Krautrock fusion betwixt Xhol Caravan, Message and Out Of Focus, hinting at British bands like Gravy Train or Jade Warrior. For 1970, they were pioneers, unusual in how Michael Thierfelder's vocals are often sung across the music, which so often tends to surge out into space, fronted by the dual solo instruments of guitar and sax. “This is the big aggressive sound of today, performed by Nosferatu. The first time, I heard them, they were auditioning together with several other new groups, all managed by the young and ambitious German promoter Peter Hauke. I was so enthusiastic about Nosferatu’s splendid musical ideas and their irresistible drive that I signed them immediately for "Deutsche Vogue" and cut this album a few weeks later. Don't let me describe their music—all self-penned—just listen and enjoy it as much, as Conny (the engineer) and me did, when we recorded this first step into the recording business of the unusually gifted, young German group Nosferatu!”—Tony Henrik CD $14 SKU:20165

P205-ST - Rare 1975 psych recordings. ONE ONLY Label:OHRWASCHL Rare 1975 recordings made before their famous collectable album. Founded in Wendelstein near Nuremberg in 1970, P205’s sole LP ("Vivat Progressio pereat mundus”) saw a release only in 1978. Long before the band KISS became famous in Europe, these guys were delivering unique live shows with pyrotechnics, burning torches and fog in a sinister decor with their faces painted. The music is leaning between a progressive and mystical edge close to Pink Floyd and the harder raw and darker side of Black Sabbath and Paternoster. These early recordings feature guitar/organ driven psychedelic hard rock with a rough-edged, underground sound CD $16 SKU:20166

SAHARA - For All the Clowns (Krautrock w West Coast vocal harmonies) Label:OHRWASCHL Here they deliveree a very fine and coherent album in the best tradition of symphonic progressive rock from that era. The courageous but slightly half-baked mix of styles like jazz fusion, experimental Krautrock and west-coast vocal harmonies gave way to a mature and more polished progressive rock much in the spirit of bands like Genesis, Gentle Giant and Jethro Tull. Sahara don’t sound like a replica of any of those bands, yet they delivered one of the best symphonic rock albums ever done by a German band. The music is dominated by a gorgeous keyboard sound, excellent guitar (at times from three guitarists) and great vocals by several band members. CD $15 SKU:20167

COLD WAVES OF COLOR VA VOL 1 ( UK new wave post punk electronic 1981-1985) Label:LION Collection of rare UK cold wave tracks taken from Color Tapes label cassettes released in micro editions between 1981-1985. These tracks originally came out as micro editions on cassette back then some of which are also unreleased too. COMP CD $14 SKU:20170

MARTINO, PAT- El Hombre (1967 recordings) Label:PRESTIGE /CONCORD Legendary six-string master Pat Martino's debut album, El Hombre, finds the then-22-year-old flashing his distinctive soul-jazz chops in first date as a leader. Accompanied by organist Trudy Pitts, flutist Danny Turner, drummer Mitch Fine, and both Abdu Johnson and Vance Anderson on percussion, Martino's runs alternatingly dance over Latin-tinged rhythms and groove in the pocket with classic, soulful flavor. Recorded May 1, 1967 by Rudy Van Gelder at the Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, NJ, El Hombre stands the test of time as an absolute best-of-genre, guitar soul-jazz workout. This classic jazz recording has now been newly reissued on VINYL, and is an essential addition to all jazz and vinyl collections. FOX- Simple Songs (West coast pop 1972) Label:GEAR FAB- On the heels of the Majic Ship breakup, guitarists Phil Polimeni and Tom Nikosey added the alents of Jim Ayoub to form Fox, the Brooklyn-based acoustic trio whose original melodies and harmonies set the stage for their move West to California in 1972.These recordings have been revived, sounding amazingly fresh and timeless. Half of Fox's tapes were made at the infamous Glenn Holly Studio, owned and operated by Phil Polemini, where may famous musicians would hide away to record, late into the morning hours. This is the very studio where Phil's friend and legendary guitarist Tommy Bolin jammed endlessly from 1972 through 1976. CD $10 SKU:19649

LENO -Vida e Obra de Johnny McCartney (1971 Brazilain Cream/ STeppenwolf style Label:LION Leno’s “Vida e Obra de Johnny McCartney” was intended as the next musical step after Tropicália, it’s full-blooded rock and roll approach intended to link the music that had already been made to the music that would be played a few years later. This record just might have been that bold step had CBS released it in 1971. But censors banned most of the tracks, and Leno was fortunate (thanks perhaps to his string of innocent sounding Jovem Guarda number one chart hits in Brazil as half of duo Leno e Lillian) not to experience the exile or imprisonment of other artists of the time. He was also fortunate that the master tapes survived in the CBS vaults, making them available for this reissue. The album has a sound that has more to do with bands such as Sly & The Family Stone, the Beatles (post 1967), Cream, and Steppenwolf, and features contributions from music legends Marcos Valle, Raul Seixas (anarchic surrealistic icon of Brazilian counterculture), hard psych rockers A Bolha, and members of Los Shakers and Renato e Seus Blue Caps. One of the most singular records of the 1970’s rock era in Brazil, speaking in terms both historic and musical, with a significance in Brazil that makes people who know it well wonder how it has taken so long to be known worldwide, in a time when the efforts of the Brazilian rock and psychedelic underground scene are so well-documented. A 24-page booklet (packed with photos and lyrics) details Leno’s career, as well as the story behind this exceptional record.CD $12 SKU:20090

MAJIC SHIP- Complete Recordings 70s pop psych) Label:GEAR FAB Finally their 1970 original LP released on the Bel-Ami label, new liner lotes by the band accompany this improved sound and photo quality of the release. CD $10 SKU: 4369

MATEO, EDUARDO- Mateo Solo Bien Se Lame (1972 Uruguay) - Label:LION From its first moments, the music is lilting, poetic, intimate, in turns life-affirming and melancholic, with pulsating percussion backed by unheard-of guitar chords and tunings (perhaps the reason for the frequent Caetano Veloso and Nick Drake comparisons); it is an album that sounds, simply put, honest. The record was released at the end of 1972 in both Argentina and Uruguay, and was received from that first moment as a classic in those countries, a position it still occupies today." CD $12 SKU:5752

MATEO, EDUARDO-Mateo y Trasante 70s Uruguayan masterpiece)-Label:LION If Eduardo Mateo was a genius, and that fact no one who has heard his music doubts, then ‘Mateo y Trasante’ is his masterpiece. Eduardo Mateo, Jorge Trasante and this wonderful album, marginalized during the course of a dictatorship, resisted the dictators, and those who came afterwards. There were some who said that Mateo and Trasante were both crazy, that Mateo could not sing. Mateo and Trasante resisted the vile and ruthless criticism of those skeptics: those who resisted the quality and depth of this record. Mateo and Trasante resisted, immovable, as are those who know that history will have its day of judgment. To paraphrase someone who knew music and much more, for the truth and Mateo, I sign my name here." Daniel Figares, 2006CD $12 SKU:20092

MODERN ART -Underwater Kites (lost 80s psych gem)-Label:LION Guitar, drum machine and keyboards creating a calm yet dark atmosphere, sometimes psychedelic and no way mellow. Truly a great lost gem!" —Mutant Sounds Welcome to the darkly enchanting minimal synth-pop and psych-tinged world of The Modern Art. As an introduction to the world of Coil and Current 93 collaborator Gary Ramon and his orbiting bandmates, you can't do better.Formed by Ramon in the early 1980's, Modern Art released two albums on vinyl, and a significant amount of impossible-to-find cassettes. Some of this material was compiled in a highly regarded 3-LP (sold out) box set, made in 2013 by Vinyl on Demand. This remastered reissue of "Underwater Kites," their very first cassette album, originally released in 1982, also includes three previously unissued tracks from that session. On this album you will find examples of what was going on in England during the pinnacle of the post-punk scene—an inspired time that encouraged young musicians to develop music influenced by the likes of Joy Division, Cabaret Voltaire, Throbbing Gristle and Clock DVA. Limited edition of 500 copies and comes with poster insert. Import edition limited to 250x copies.
•First time reissue of Modern Art's debut cassette album
•Includes three previously unissued tracks from the album session CD $12 SKU:20099

MYSTERY PLANE - Still Life (80s minimal basement krauty synth)Label:LION Mystery Plane formed in 1980 from the ashes of 70's new wave band 3D5 who's line-up also featured future Cure member Porl Thompson. This record was originally a demo cassette made in 1981 that was hawked around record labels with a view for release. Later Color Tapes released a 100 copies edition. To support their demo at the time the band played such gigs at the Marquee, Rock Garden and The Bridgehouse supporting bands such as Fad Gadget, Modern English and Henry Padovani (Ex-Police) in London. This sublime minimal basement krauty synth LP was inspired by bands such as Neu, Amon Duul ll, and "Vienna" period Ultravox. The album features guitar work of Gerald O' Connell who was a big fan of Ash Ra Tempel's guitarist Manuel Gottsching. A year later he went on to form Lives Of Angels who made the classic cold wave album "Elevator To Eden" which was originally released on Color Tapes in 1983. Mystery Plane have been featured on the sold out Cold Waves Of Color compilation series CD $12 SKU:20100

OPHIUCHUS-ST (Grungy 70s psych blues) Label:LION Ophiucus may be the name of an obscure constellation, but it's also the name of a French band that recorded an exceptional album in 1972 for the Barclay label. All the members of the band had already enjoyed ample success in music before musician/actor Emmanuel Booz brought them together in 1971: Jean-Pierre Pouret was a well-known session-man for Sylvie Vartan; brothers Alain and Bernard Labacci released albums as Tom & Jerry, and supported Jimi Hendrix for a TV appearance; Michel Bonnecarrere had founded the band Zoo (one of Andy Votel from the B-Music label’s favorites), and was one of the composers, arrangers and musicians for that group’s first two albums. Apropos of the period, the band members decided to live together as a small family in Flagy, a small town in France, where they lived a happy life, and wrote the tracks which adorn this reissue. This ambitious album somehow manages to blend grungy psychedelic rock, acoustic blues, and densely orchestrated French pop/psych (in an Ilous & Decuyper vein) into an impressive and cohesive whole. Sandy Spencer, cellist and member of Mormos contributed wonderful playing on ‘Ne cherche plus’ and ‘Inachevée.’ This reissue includes the original album plus eight bonus tracks in English meant to be the basis of an international album that was never issued. A fulsome 28-page booklet includes band history and commentaries on the songs written by Ophiucus, photos, lyrics (French and English), and a contemporary review. Not to be missed! CD $12 SKU:20094

PETE & ROYCE -Suffering of Tomorrow + Days of Destruction(great (and very rare) Greek early 80’s psych prog)-Label:MUSICBAZZ (Greece) First ever official reissue of these two great (and very rare) Greek early 80’s psychedelic progressive albums. A very special limited edition of 500 copies, with a deluxe gatefold silver-foil embossed/textured cover and big art-poster. Led by Panagiotis “Pete” Tsiros, Pete & Royce offered an astounding blend of trippy moods and moves: flashy melodies, hard biting fuzz guitar, night crawling rhythms, mystifying electronic shifts and strange lyrics that could have been from an unknown book of Apocalypsis (as it happens, two key members of top Greek progressive group Apocalypsis were involved in the recordings of Pete & Royce—keyboardist Vasilis Dertilis and vocalist Giannis Palamidas). Both Pete & Royce albums are sought after for their dreamy Pink-Floydian atmosphere, the brilliant vocals and guitars of Tsiros himself, the topnotch fiery interplay of all the participating musicians, especially keyboardist and co-composer Vasilis Ghinos, and the rarer but equally mind-blowing cosmic funk moments. In post-military junta Greece, the mid seventies heralded an explosion in the Greek underground scene. The principal expressions of this phenomenon were the gradual change of several areas in Athens to freak hang-outs. A space for free forms of expression was opened, but the majority of the groups of the era disappeared without leaving any recorded traces. Pete & Royce were one of the few local progressive bands operating in that framework, armed with an uncompromising underground attitude. CD $15 SKU:20154

PROBE 10-There is a Universe (proto-prog-into-jazz-rock synth) -Label:LION "This masterpiece crawled up my spine like a kundalini snake and proceeded to take the top of my head off. Probe 10 are unquestionably linked to a very specifically American form of proto-prog-into-jazz-rock synthesis of the precise sort Elektra Records used to specialize in, from Tim Buckley's Starsailor to David Stoughton's Transformer. Toss in trumpet fanfare laden acid psych straight out of the C.A. Quintet songbook, the riotously melodic and dense brassy arrangements of McLuhan... and...well...hold on to your hookahs!" —Mutant Sounds
"Unique jazz-rock album with major space-rock vibes. You have to love the way the bass counters the effects-laden guitar solos and heavy fuzz. Considering how many loner folk and hard rock private press albums came from the same time period, discovering something this ambitious and unusual is a real kick. Most of the time, it sounds like the world's best exploito-jazz record, Herb Alpert filtered through Pink Floyd and Quiet Sun." —Acid ArchivesCD $12 SKU:20096

QUINTAL DE CLOROFILA- O Mistério Dos Quintais (1983 Argentine psych folk)Label:DISCOS MARIPOSA Only album by psychedelic folk duo formed by brothers Dimitri and Negendre Arbo, part of a set of folk groups from Brasil comprised of “gaúchos” (native country people); Quintal de Clorofila is one of the few bands of this sort who got to make a record, which was released by the independent label Bobby Som in 1983. For this LP, Quintal de Clorofila recorded their own compositions, with lyrics by their brother, the poet Antônio Carlos Arbo. According to Dimitri Arbo, the band mixed rock, medieval music, Afro, oriental and Latin rhythms... a blend of music they dubbed "Viking Rock" (not sure why). It’s a complex sound to be sure, with tremendous depth and abundant inspiration evident throughout all of the album’s atmospheric songs. An album much beloved by Hans Pokora—and now by us. Two alternate versions of songs from the album are included as bonus tracks CD $12 SKU:20151

SERGIUS GOLOWIN (with the COSMIC JOKERS)Lord Krishna von Goloka (1973 LSD fueled)-Label:LION n 1973, Rolf Ulrich Kaiser’s visionary powers acted as a catalyst for an authentic combination of acid, music and sprituality: the mystical LSD-fueled musical project “Lord Krishna von Goloka.” For this adventure into Indian and Oriental mythologies and legends, Kaiser asked esoteric Swiss artist (he was a friend of Giger’s), poet, specialist on Alpine folklore, and friend of Timothy Leary, Sergius Golowin, to join a group of musicians including Klaus Schulze and members of Wallenstein and Witthüser + Westrupp. It was perhaps mere coincidence that Golowin's classic treatise on witches, herbs, and magic mushrooms was published that same year (Magie der verbotenen Märchen); the book was fast becoming a cult item—it was secretly xeroxed in what was then-Communist East Germany, and later distributed in the hippie-underground there. Sergius Golowin’s intellectual and spiritual world of occultism, popular legends, and shamanism were the foundation for the project. He was responsible for the lyrics, which consisted of incantatory recitations in German over the multi-textural compositions. CD $12 SKU:20097

T2- ST (obscure 70s psych prog) -Label:ACME LION Even though fame and fortune never came to pass for T2, their Decca album “It’ll All Work out in Boomland” has become an all-time classic amongst collectors of progressive and psychedelic music, and even in the techno and dj scenes. Apart from a 1970 Sound of the 70’s BBC radio session, (included on our Acme/Lion reissue of “It’ll All Work Out in Boomland,” ACLN 1010 CD), fans assumed that “Boomland” was both the beginning and the end of the group’s recorded legacy. But Acme Records unearthed an eponymous second album of material, recorded in 1970 with the original line-up as demo tracks for a planned second album. This was first released way back in the late 1990’s, and is now available again thanks to the new Acme/Lion version which is the subject of this one-sheet. This second T2 album, had it been released in 1970, could have put the band on the same level of fame with the likes of Deep Purple, Free, and King Crimson (bands with whom T2 shared a stage). It’s hard-driving opener ‘Highway,’ ablaze with wailing guitars, gives way to moody introspection, culminating with the LSD induced finale ‘T2.’ It’s music that is dreamy without being sleepy; heavy without danger of suffocation. Those of you who were lucky enough to snap up a copy of the limited Acme Deluxe pressings of this album many years ago now can testify to the importance of these recordings. For those of you who missed out the first time around—or who have only recently discovered the greatness of the mighty T2—all we can say is, enjoy the power and glory of the second T2 album! TAKIS BARBAGALAS -MANTICORE'S BREATH Phosphorus Hesperus-Label:WOW RECORDS Takis Barbagalas, guitarist and composer, is the driving force behind MANTICORE'S BREATH and WILL-O-THE WISP. This is his first solo album, which may also be considered as the third Manticore's Breath LP, given that all Manticore's Breath musicians participated. Based on the ancient Greek myths behind Esperus and Phosphorus, Takis created an instrumental, atmospheric, psychedelic-progressive concept-album featuring a powerful blend of guitars, farfisa organ and flutes. Dreamy, mystical, sentimental poetic. This edition is limited to 300 copies on green vinyl in a deluxe ultra heavy gatefold cover, with a colour PVC sleeve. • Deluxe ultra heavy gatefold cover, with colour PVC sleeve. • LP is 600 pieces limited and numbered (300 blue vinyl, 300 green vinyl) • CD is 300 pieces limited and numbered, deluxe, a miniature replica of the LP cover. Yama & the Karma Dusters-Up From the Sewers (1970 quintessential anarcho-hippie record)-Label:LION Super political, rocking, anti-establishment communal band (c. 1970) put together as a result of the Kent State Massacre. As the Euphoria Blimpworks Band, fronted by Howard Berkman from morose garage punksters the Knaves, they played demonstrations and student strikes when they weren’t opening for blues royalty—or being the first band to play the yard at Cook County Jail. They were inter-racial, anti-war, Stop the Bomb, free love hippies, the wildest of the wild kids. And this is the quintessential anarcho-hippie record, a surprisingly well-engineered indie effort which came inside home-made silk-screened jackets, with twisted, poetic lyrics (Dylan or Arthur Lee and Love? you decide), and funky, rocking bones—political, sociological, ecological, reflective and free-love sexy. The Karma Dusters really cook on the up-tempo tracks, sounding at times like a cross between The Blues Project and Dylan's band circa 1966, augmented by some dazzling violin. This excellent sounding master-tape reissue has two bonus tracks; it also has two booklets—one is for the outrageous and explicit Gonzo history of the band and their urban commune; the other is a wrap-around booklet for lyrics, all served up together in a Mylar plastic sleeve. You just know the FBI has a huge file on these punks. But do they have the album? CD $12 SKU:20098

21ST CENTURY SOUND MOVEMENT- ST (rare 60s U.S. fuzz garage 180 gram, virgin red vinyl) - Label:GEAR FAB LP version. 180 gram, virgin red vinyl. "After years of searching, we have finally discovered a copy of this mega-rare garage LP from an unknown group from Missouri. From 1968, these guys did cover versions of the songs of their day even better than the original artists with a great fuzz garage sound! It is a true shame we do not know the names of these musicians, as the album provides us with no credits whatsoever to these truly talented guys. Mini-LP cardboard sleeve format. Also includes their ultra-rare 45 tracks." LP $17 SKU:14794

MORNING DEW - ST DOUBLE LP (60s rare psych collectors fave ) -Label:LION Morning Dew have been psych collector faves for ages. Their sole release, "At Last" (much like the Morgen album on Probe) becomes more obviously crucial with each passing year. After recording their legendary album for Roulette in 1969, Morning Dew headed back to Topeka feeling good about their prospects. But Roulette had problems. They did finally release "At Last" late in 1970... and marketed it so well it became a psychedelic rarity and a cult favorite. Even so, Morning Dew's producer at Roulette urged the band to record a demo of songs for a second album. They went to a local studio in August 1970 and blasted out eight songs, bolstered by new recruit Ferdy Baumgart's Hammond B3. Band leader Mal Robinson also made acoustic two-track recordings in his basement: new songs, plus others from the Morning Dew repertoire—just vocal and guitar. The band gigged while Roulette and it's honcho Morris Levy withered under scrutiny by law enforcement. A second album came to nothing. Still under contract with Roulette and still dealing with broken promises, burnt out and broke, Morning Dew disbanded in June, 1971. But those demos... they need to be heard. That's where we come in. Two records, chock full of your new favorite Morning Dew songs, plus solo acoustic versions of band classics like the monumental 'Crusader's Smile,' alternates, and more, most of which is previously unreleased.
One more thing: all of this material is making its vinyl debut.•Taken from original tapes•Small press run of 500x copies, housed in a deluxe gatefold tip-on jacket•Luscious four panel color insert includes liner notes by Morning Dew songwriter Mal Robinson + lyrics LP $28 SKU:18280

UNRELATED SEGMENTS - The Story Of My Life – Complete Recordings DBL LP insert with photos and liner notes. -Label:GUERSSEN RECORDS (SPAIN) Sixties punk, garage, moody sounds and proto-hard-rock of the highest order! Complete recordings (1966-1975) of this legendary band from Michigan, including their three killer 45s plus unreleased recordings and alternate takes. Master tape sound, insert with photos and liner notes. The Unrelated Segments created some of the most celebrated garage-punk anthems of all time. Tracks like “Cry, Cry, Cry” with its teenage-angst vocals and out of control fuzztone guitar break, “The Story Of My Life” with that bizarre and ultra-punk bass line or the moody-punker “It’s gonna rain” have been included on countless garage comps (Back From The Grave, Acid Dreams, Nuggets, etc) and have been covered by numerous bands who worship them as 60s punk Gods. Sadly, the band never got the chance to record a full album. After three outstanding 45s, they recorded a projected fourth single that never saw the light of day, just when the band had changed its name to U.S and had started playing in a heavier vein, similar to early MC5. Soon after, the band split up and some of their members formed psych-rock band Lost Nation. On this collection, along with their official 45s and alternate takes / rehearsals, you’ll find the unreleased 45 from 1969 plus some demos recorded by an unnamed post-Unrelated Segments / Lost Nation band in 1972. An amazing find which shows the band playing pure Detroit high-energy hard rock! “The Unrelated Segments emerged from the same downriver suburbs that had produced the MC5, and their suburban mutation was almost as unique. Singer Ron Stults had an unforgettable style somewhere between punk snarl and Brit erudition and the songs he wrote with lead guitarist Rory Mack were catchy and substantial” – Ben Edmonds (Creeem, Rolling Stone, Mojo LP $25 SKU:16282
