HEIRS OF FORTUNE- Circus of Mirth (GREAT POWERPOP, Read the reviews below, just an amazing response to this release. ) Terry Carolan and Robert Woodrich, formerly of Just Boys and New Movies, along with Ralph Smith and Robert Watkins, formerly of Amnesia, have united as Heirs Of Fortune to create this mainstream pop-rock album. The four, all part of Tampa's mid Seventies music scene, united after decades to work on an album whose songs and lyrics reflect their shared experience with friend, fan, supported and benefactor, Gary Littleton. If you like Paul McCartney, Badfinger, the Beach Boys and ELO... you may love this album! Circus Of Mirth is lyrically mature, sophisticated pop, laced with melodies, choruses and rich harmonies. PETE & ROYCE -Suffering of Tomorrow + Days of Destruction(great(and very rare) Greek early 80’s psych prog)Label:MUSICBAZZ (Greece)First ever official reissue of these two great (and very rare) Greek early 80’s psychedelic progressive albums. A very special limited edition of 500 copies, with a deluxe gatefold silver-foil embossed/textured cover and big art-poster. Led by Panagiotis “Pete” Tsiros, Pete & Royce offered an astounding blend of trippy moods and moves: flashy melodies, hard biting fuzz guitar, night crawling rhythms, mystifying electronic shifts and strange lyrics that could have been from an unknown book of Apocalypsis (as it happens, two key members of top Greek progressive group Apocalypsis were involved in the recordings of Pete & Royce—keyboardist Vasilis Dertilis and vocalist Giannis Palamidas). Both Pete & Royce albums are sought after for their dreamy Pink-Floydian atmosphere, the brilliant vocals and guitars of Tsiros himself, the topnotch fiery interplay of all the participating musicians, especially keyboardist and co-composer Vasilis Ghinos, and the rarer but equally mind-blowing cosmic funk moments. In post-military junta Greece, the mid seventies heralded an explosion in the Greek underground scene. The principal expressions of this phenomenon were the gradual change of several areas in Athens to freak hang-outs. A space for free forms of expression was opened, but the majority of the groups of the era disappeared without leaving any recorded traces. Pete & Royce were one of the few local progressive bands operating in that framework, armed with an uncompromising underground attitude. CD $12 SKU:20154

POLIFEMO- ST (Rare 70's ARgentine psych prog)Label:WORLD PSYCHEDELIA (Korea) RARE debut album by this Argentine rock super-group, led by David Lebon (ex-Color Humano and Pescado Rabioso) on guitar and vocals, Rinaldo Rafanelli (ex-Color Humano and Sui Generis) on bass, Juan Rodríguez (ex-Los Mentales and Sui Generis) on drums, and keyboard player Ciro Fogliatta (ex-Los Gatos, Sacramento and Espíritu; a blend of rock with some slight psychedelic and progressive touches, especially the use of mellotron and moogs; the main thrust of the album is hard and heavy blues-based rock—more than a casual nod to Uriah Heep and other UK hard rock bands; includes both of their rare EMI singles+ b-sides as bonus tracks. CD $8 SKU:18993

PRENTICE & TUTTLE - Every Lovin Day (70s Boston folk psych w booklet) LAST COPIES Label:Underground Masters Steve Prentice & Stephen Tuttle, two young Americans based in Boston, recorded their second and rare album in 1972. Remastered sound & 8-page booklet CD $8 SKU:11767

PRINCIPAL EDWARDS MAGIC THEATRE- Asmoto Running Band (late 60s John Peel fave) LAST COPIES Label:CHERRY RED he multi-media Principal Edwards Magic Theatre cut a compellingly original swathe through a late-1960s music scene seemingly inhabited by wall-to-wall blues bands. Their first ever gig was witnessed by benefactor and producer John Peel. The legendary DJ promptly signed them to his Dandelion label. ‘I guess he liked what he heard,’ says guitarist and chief songwriter Root Cartwright. A stand-alone single released before the first album, ‘Ballad (Of The Big Girl Now And A Mere Boy)’/ ‘Lament For The Earth’, is included in this package as a bonus track. ‘Soundtrack’ hit the record racks in August 1969, the third Dandelion long-player to be released. The sometimes whimsical, sometimes epic (verging on progressive rock) writing style of guitarist Root Cartwright, was paired with the eclectic lyrical contributions of David Jones, Gillian Hadley and Monica Nettles, and was performed by vocalist Vivienne McAuliffe. The violin and recorders of Bindy Bourquin were another key element of the group's trademark sound. Lyn Edwards, originally on bongos, took over on the drumkit. CD $8 SKU:19084

REIGN GHOST- 1969, legendary Canadian psych- Label:OUT-SIDER (Spain) In late 1969, legendary Canadian psych band Reign Ghost recorded their second album, released the following year just when the band had ceased to exist and some of their members had formed prog/psych band, Christmas. This is a fine example of West Coast-styled psych-rock with reverberating/fuzz-wah guitar and male/female vocal harmonies, including absolute psych classics like the monster 9-minute long "Enola Gay." One of the rarest and most expensive Canadian psych albums ever, officially reissued on vinyl for the first time. Newly remastered sound from the original tapes. Includes a fold-out insert with rare photos, memorabilia and detailed liner notes by band member Bob Bryden.Featuring Lynda Squires LP $15 SKU:19657

REP, MIKE AND THE QUOTAS-Hellbender 1975-78 (rare Velvets/Elevators style)Label:HOZAC "Central Ohio is far more of a schizophrenic hotbed of rock than the Library of Alexandria would lead you to believe. If you squint your eyes past the big city lights & skyscrapers (Rep likes to call them 'DIEscrapers'), you can see the outlines of the fertile Ohio Valley Crescent from which much Midwest D.I.Y. Punk emerged in the aftermath of a late-60's/early-70's gestation period. When digging into the Columbus strata of petrified 70's fossil-rock pure Columbus area underground entities bubble up from the deep: Jim Shepard, Ron House, Tommy Jay, Nudge Squidfish, The Quotas, Screaming Urge... many more. It seems that in some way or another Mike Rep has been intertwined with, 'Lovingly Fucking With', melding with, accompanying and/or leading the charge with many comrades in arms into the hipster Ohio Hell unknown for 40+ freaking years. Describing the allure of the mid-70s Ohio sound to the uninitiated isn't too difficult. Take the freaked-out post-13th Floor Elevators to Velvet Underground to Stooges to RFTT/Pere Ubu barbed wire bop and compound those influences with the dawn of home recording equipment access, a D.I.Y scene began to evolve. Just the right mixture of humidity, THC & malt liquor-fueled a primal pool ripe for spontaneous generation producing much fruit from apparent sterile soil as viewed from the overlook of big city coastal-dominated Hipsterism. Rep's homemade debut single 'Rocket To Nowhere' was recorded in 1975/'released' in 1978 and nobody noticed for the next ten years. Add to that the incredible Grim-O-Comix Sequence LP packed with angst ridden 1974 basement recordings (you need to drop everything and track it down if you haven't heard this unblinkingly look into the maw of the 70's loser teen maelstrom). HERE & NOW, on Hellbender you get a full primal serving of mostly previously unheard chaos, recorded between '75 and '78, that will no doubt cause future generations to marvel at just how one could be so brutally honest, raw, and wasted yet, live to chronicle it all. Hozac Archival is bringing these sounds to you now. Why? Because it IS the kind of mind-numbing, eyeball-popping guttural pure D.I.Y. rock & roll that saved so many miserable souls from succumbing to the 'American Dream' sham, and continue to inspire the D.I.Y. spirit in all who care to dare. Mike Rep & The Quotas / Hellbender- Very rare, mostly previously unheard recordings from 1975-78, very recently gleaned straight from the long thought lost original reel-to-reel master tapes." LP $14 SKU:17929

RICE, LARRY SUNSHINE-Here's Sunshine(Texas PRIVATE PRESS 60s)Label:TIME-LAG RECORDS This is another lost private-press gem, from a Texas singer/songwriter who is remembered for “looping, melodically through often surrealist lyrics with a strong Tim Buckley influence.” Another description drops the always-intriguing “downer” folk tag on this record, calling it “stark, edgy real-people loner vibe, reverb, acoustic instrumentation, occasional hand percussion, piano, harmonica, as that off-the-chain Texas feel that approaches solo Roky Erickson territory.” LP $14 SKU:13202

RESTOCKS

OPHIUCHUS-ST (obscure 70s psych blues) Label:LION Ophiucus may be the name of an obscure constellation, but it's also the name of a French band that recorded an exceptional album in 1972 for the Barclay label. All the members of the band had already enjoyed ample success in music before musician/actor Emmanuel Booz brought them together in 1971: Jean-Pierre Pouret was a well-known session-man for Sylvie Vartan; brothers Alain and Bernard Labacci released albums as Tom & Jerry, and supported Jimi Hendrix for a TV appearance; Michel Bonnecarrere had founded the band Zoo (one of Andy Votel from the B-Music label’s favorites), and was one of the composers, arrangers and musicians for that group’s first two albums. Apropos of the period, the band members decided to live together as a small family in Flagy, a small town in France, where they lived a happy life, and wrote the tracks which adorn this reissue. This ambitious album somehow manages to blend grungy psychedelic rock, acoustic blues, and densely orchestrated French pop/psych (in an Ilous & Decuyper vein) into an impressive and cohesive whole. Sandy Spencer, cellist and member of Mormos contributed wonderful playing on ‘Ne cherche plus’ and ‘Inachevée.’ This reissue includes the original album plus eight bonus tracks in English meant to be the basis of an international album that was never issued. A fulsome 28-page booklet includes band history and commentaries on the songs written by Ophiucus, photos, lyrics (French and English), and a contemporary review. Not to be missed! CD $10 SKU:20094

ORQUESTA-Coatzacoalcos (RARE 1965 big mambo sound) ONE ONLY -Label:VAM RECORDS (MEXICO) This rare album from 1965 features a fantastic big band mambo sound. In this volume we've selected the best of Orquesta Coatzacoalcos' danceable repertoire, with a focus on the most popular dance numbers that will ensure that your party or get-together will be a huge success." Enough said! CD $10 SKU:19756

OUTRAGEOUS CHERRY- Universal Malcontents SAALE digipack- Label:ALIVE Leader/songsmith MATTHEW SMITH is more on form than ever before, whether on a cosmic blues rocker like 'Outsider,' a shimmering psych popper like 'Feels Like Shadows,' a glam-inflected choogler like 'I Recognized Her' or a sardonic stomper like 'It's Not Rock N' Roll (And I Don't Like It).' Universal Malcontents is, I think, Outrageous Cherry's most consistently engaging album, and that's saying a lot. - The Big Takeover CD $5 SKU:9539

OUTRAGEOUS CHERRY - Seemingly Solid Reality (glam psych) Label:ALIVE After the critically acclaimed glam/psych miasma of 2009's UNIVERSAL MALCONTENTS, and subsequent tours in Europe and the USA, O.C. returned to their analog cave to record Matthew Smith's latest batch of tunes. Throughout SEEMINGLY SOLID REALITY, sweet melodies and harmonies soar over the gnashing of vicious, urban Motor City guitar workouts. Motown-fueled bass and drums throb hypnotically. OUTRAGEOUS CHERRY recently got a lot of love from The NEW P*RNOGRAPHERS who recorded a EP of their songs for Matador titled "Togetherness - The New P*rnographers play Outrageous Cherry" CD $5 SKU:11568

OVERCOAT - Three Chords and a Cloud of Dust(garage psych)Label:DIONYSUS Originally conceived as a demo for interested major labels, "Three Chords" found the band true to theirgarage-psych roots while also exploring a raw and crude sound CD $5 SKU:19831

OVNIS, LOS-Hippies(rare Mexican 60’s psych)Label:PEERLESS When we are talking about really rare and great albums from Mexico (f.i. El Tarro de Mostaza, the live album by Los Monjes, Kaleidoscope), Los Ovnis' 'Hippies' is perhaps the second rarest title, close on the heels of Kaleidoscope. 'Hippies' truly is a fantastic album and one of the crown jewels of Latin-American rock history CD $10 SKU:15122

P76 - Into the Sun ((POWER POP PROD BY DOM MARIANI!)Label:OFF THE HIP P76 is one of Australia’s most loved, yet perhaps least well-known power pop bands.
Formed by singer/songwriter Danny McDonald (Little Murders, Stoneage Hearts, Oscarlima, Jericho and solo artist) in 1998, they arrived on the Melbourne indie music scene, quickly signed to USA label Zip Records and released a string of EP’s before dropping the classic Into The Sun album in 2001. And then they were gone. Into The Sun reeks of the Australian summer. Produced by Perth pop legend Dom Mariani (The Stems, DM3), it is jam-packed with harmony-laden jangle pop guitar and tambourine - the sound of the summer sun bursting out of your speakers. A genuine nugget of its time. CD $10 SKU:19962

PAINKILLERS- OLDEST FRIEND (Aussie R&R- NOT the Alive band!) Label:OFF THE HIP If you’re copping an album by The Painkillers for the first time, it won’t matter one fucking jot what went before. The Painkillers are a straight-up garage, rock and roll band. They play evocative but trashy and punky mid-tempo songs with unabashed panache, their music best enjoyed live with a bevy in hand and a Saturday-night-rolling-into-Sunday-morning ahead. CD $10 SKU:19882

PAINTED AIR- COME ON 69 (60s psych and krautrock.vibes)-Label:GREEN COOKIE PAINTED AIR from Hamburg, St. Pauli in Germany is hailing around since 1990 and thus, just attained full age. Before getting that fuzz-tanked-organ-driven sound, PAINTED AIR started as a typical 60s garage punk combo and in-between flirted with 60s psych and krautrock. CD $10 SKU:20080

PANDORA -Space Amazon (1970s glam proto punk) -Label:ARF ARF Erik Lindgren's Arf! Arf! Records is known for gathering the most obscure unreleased vintage tapes for historical purposes. (They're also known to have a giggle now and again; a couple of the label's supposedly vintage unreleased tapes are at least suspected to be by modern-day groups recording in note perfect re-creations of period styles.) Though most of the label's vintage tapes are from '60s era New England bands, given Lindgren's proximity and tastes, the 1997 release Space Amazon is actually a bunch of circa 1974 recordings by Pandora, a Cleveland, OH, band. The tapes were produced by Joe Battaglia, drummer for Cleveland metallurgists Granicus, and only the first two, the thumping "Space Amazon" and "Daze of Madness," were ever released, and even then only on a flexi-disc given away by a local magazine. The glammy songs have a heavy, proto-punk edge, as if the group were heavily into the Stooges and the first New York Dolls album, and the theatrical vocals and self-consciously "decadent" lyrics suggest a strong Bowie/T. Rex fixation as well. Fun stuff, no matter when it was recorded. (MUSIC EMPORIUM)proto punk) CD $6 SKU:19193

PANDORAS - STOP PRETENDING (1986 GIRL GARAGE GODDESSES)Label:WOUNDED BIRD The Pandoras were an all female rock band from Los Angeles, California. They had a following in the Hollywood garage rock band scene. They were also associated with the Paisley Underground era in Hollywood's alternative rock scene that shared an aesthetic heavily influenced by 1960s and psychedelia. 'Stop Pretending' came out in 1986. This expanded edition CD adds 10 rare bonus tracks to the original 12 song lineup that was on the original Rhino Records LP release. CD $14 SKU:3862

PANDORAS, THE - It's About Time(Psych fuzz goddesses PEBBLES STYLE Label:VOXX Psychedelic fuzz goddesses The Pandoras were the first, and in many ways the most original, of L.A.'s garage revival bands. They transformed the traditional garage sound of their "Pebbles" favorites into a vehicle for an all-girl band in wild day-glo fashions, openly sexual, assertive and outrageous in a time when girl bands were expected to be more like the demure Bangles. This is their landmark Voxx debut album. CD $10 SKU:2132

PAPA PILKO AND THE BINRATS -TILL THE END OF THE WORLD(swampy, bluesy, downright sleazy rock and roll )-Label:OFF THE HIP "The versatility of the bands sound is incredible – not once moving away from the core image, sound, style and personality of the band. This is definitely a band I’ll be keeping an eye on." - Meghan Player, Push To Fire. “Papa Pilko And The Binrats revisit a bygone era of swampy, bluesy, downright sleazy rock and roll with aplomb. While much has been made of their rowdy, high-energy hip swinging live performances in the past year, this EP is testament to the precociousness of the country rock revivalists. Howlin’ is truly a testament to the talent of this seven-piece outfit who are on the steady incline to bigger and better things.” ¬– Marrisa Demetriou, Tone Deaf CD $6 SKU:18922

PEACHFUZZ - ABOUT A BIRD( 60's/70's POWERPOP STYLE)Label:DIONYSUS L.A.'s Peachfuzz create a delightful musical concoction - taking all the best of '60s pop and '70s powerpop and melding it into the snappiest, self-effacing yet supercharged sound coming out of the new millennium! CD $4 SKU:-19777

PEP GIRLZ-Down N Dirty(all girl NY garage-trash hcore punkLabel:ALIVE ST Mid-90s NY garage-trash-hardcore by this all girl punk band. They never got to tour, and it's too bad because they were amazing. Do not confuse with the AC/DC tribute band with the same name ... CD $5 SKU:4464

PHILLIPS,SANDRA - Too May People in One Bed digipack w OBI STRIP and new liner notes by Swamp Dogg - Label:ALIVE Never officially released by Canyon (the label went belly-up just after shipping the first copies in 1970), this album was meant to be a follow-up to the Doris Duke hit record “I’m A Loser”. Produced by Swamp Dogg in Macon, GA this is Deep Soul at its best. Sandra Phillips (a/k/a Sandra Reeves-Phillips) has become a star on Broadway, movies and TV, winning awards and appearing in movies such as “Round About Midnight” and “Lean On Me”, and on TV Shows such as “Law And Order”. CD $5 SKU:15514

PICADILLY LINE -The Huge World Of Emily S (Classic English '60's psych pop )mall- Label:LIGHTNING TREE 1967 album by the whimsical UK psychedelic pop band who featured future Edwards Hand founders Roger Hand and Rod Edwards (also later in Jade) and who also played at legendary psychedelic venues UFO and Middle Earth! Classic English '60's psych pop that is comparable to The World Of Oz, psych Chad and Jeremy, and Donovan. The Donovan comparison is especially apt as the Picadilly Line is not only produced by Don's producer, John Cameron but also features the same backing band used on Sunshine Superman. Including the beautiful original, flower power pop-art sleeve this reissue is taken from the master tapes and also includes ten great bonus tracks (some of which are previously unreleased) and a detailed booklet with photos and band history. IMPORT CD $10 SKU:5221

PINK FITS-DE JA BLUES (rabid garage punk)-Label:OFF THE HIP-If it's more powerpop-ish, it's only by degrees. Wollongong's Pink Fits still kick up a helluva racket on their second full-length for Off the Hip, and do it in a way that will please glued-on fans and win fresh support.Like the EP that prefigured it, this is a progression in the series. For sure there's less noise for noise's sake, but it's been replaced by a bristling intensity that's at the heart of almost every song with Michelle Dilevski's uncluttered production spot-on. Occasional colouring (like Karl Webber's blues harp on the title track) and a bucketload of hooks (especially the catchy "Got Nothing On") shine through again. CD $6 SKU:19227

PINK FITS - Fuzzyard Gravebox (Aussie garage punk)-Label:OFF THE HIP The Pink Fits are coming out of the garage and are hunting down the nearest drinking hole near you. Featuring Lenny from Tumbleweed, the Pink Fits are a firey conglomerate of ideas, frustration, bongwater, whiskey and raw energy. They supply the out sound from the beach bound borders of trash, new wave punk and old time r‚n‚b, and mix it in with some swamp mud, fish hooks and sharpened spikes. CD $10 SKU:5298

POLYPHONY - Without Introduction (70s PROG PSYCH)Label:GEAR FAB One of the best Progressive Psychedelic lps to come out of the early 1970's!! The influence of Emerson, Lake & Palmer and King Crimson is evident throughout this great work!!CD $10 SKU:18662

POP MUSIC TEAM - Society Is A Shit (ultra rare Mexican 60s psych Iron Butterfly/Doors style )Label:VAM MEXICO Pop Music Team were among the first psychedelic bands in Mexico, writing original material influenced by Iron Butterfly, Jefferson Airplane, and the Doors (they even opened for the Doors at the Forum in Mexico City). This is a reissue of their legendary unreleased album, recorded for Orfeon in April 1969, with killer fuzz guitar and organ, mostly sung in English. This music should be known to all psych music heads, but it isn’t: so what happened? It’s simple. A demo recording of the band’s track ‘Tlatelolco 68’ was broadcast on the radio in 1969. The Mexican government heard the track, and immediately quashed the release of the album; their objection: the song described the brutal repression of the student movement in Mexico (students were slaughtered at La Plaza de las Tres Culturas in Tlatelolco, Mexico City). For a long time, about 36 years to be precise, no one knew that an entire album had been recorded, or where to find the masters. But here it is, psychedelic garage jams with sweet fuzz and farfisa, including ‘Tlatelolco 68’, which turns out to be a 10-minute freaked out long jam. Sure, the cover art looks like a bubble gum packet (there was no original jacket art, since the album was never released), but don't let that or the band name scare you. This is wonderful stuff! CD $8 SKU:15123

POPPEES -Pop Goes The Anthology (LATE 70s POWERPOP)Label:BOMP The Poppees were one of the creators and the embodiment of what soon came to be known as the "Power Pop" sound of the late 70s. This long overdue anthology finally gives this notable and highly underrated band its due, elegantly chronicling the Poppees short but influential role in the history of the New York New Wave scene of the late 70's. While anchored around their two classic Bomp singles, "If She Cries/Love of The Loved" (the latter track produced by Craig Leon of the Ramones fame), and "Jealousy/She's Got It" (produced by Cyril Jordan of the Flamin' Groovies), "Pop Goes The Anthology" features never before released recordings, including demos, early live recordings, and culminating with a rip-roaring live performance at CBGB. It is complete with liner notes and unpublished photos. "After all, what would be more punk at that time than being in the Poppees - a band that emulated the early Beatles, from their moptops to their Cuban heels?" - WFMUFormed in In the mid-'70s in New York by Bob Waxman, Arthur Alexander, Paddy Lorenzo, and Donny Jackrel, later replaced by Jet Harris. CD $10 SKU:11409

PRIME TIME -Flying High: Expanded Edition 1972 Electro funk-Label:BIG BREAK Prime Time was an electro Funk band out of Los Angeles, who formed in 1972. The line up consisted of Jimmy Hamilton on keyboards, Frankie Babe Moore on drums, Dale Hightower on percussion and Maurice Hayes on the bass and lead vocals. "Flying High" was released in 1984 on Total Experience Records, who by this point were famous for providing a label home for the likes of the GAP Band, Yarbrough & Peoples, Pennye Ford and the legendary Billy Paul. The suitably sparse opening track 'I Owe it To Myself' climbed all the way to #21 on the US R&B chart and was covered the following year by fellow Total Experience group, the Gap Band. Other notable tracks include the atmospheric Electro groove, 'Give It To the Beat' along with the upbeat and slightly haunting jam, 'Love Talk.' Both of these tracks went on to become firm dance and funk fan favourites throughout the 80’s and beyond. CD $8 SKU:19875

PROBE 10 - There is a Universe (proto-prog 1975 Acid ARchives fave)Label:LION "This masterpiece crawled up my spine like a kundalini snake and proceeded to take the top of my head off. Probe 10 are unquestionably linked to a very specifically American form of proto-prog-into-jazz-rock synthesis of the precise sort Elektra Records used to specialize in, from Tim Buckley's Starsailor to David Stoughton's Transformer. Toss in trumpet fanfare laden acid psych straight out of the C.A. Quintet songbook, the riotously melodic and dense brassy arrangements of McLuhan... and...well...hold on to your hookahs!" —Mutant Sounds CD $8 SKU:20450

PROMISE- ST LAST COPIES! (80s Beatlesque power pop ala Badfinger, Big Star, early Cheap Trick, Emitt Rhodes, The Raspberries, Liverpool Echo, The Scruffs, Shoes, Dwight Twilley Band, etc. ) w liners -Label:GOT KINDA LOST RECORDS (SPAIN) First reissue of the privately pressed 1980 self-titled debut by Colorado power pop band Promise. "An exciting, terrific British Invasion-styled guitar pop album full of catchy, memorable hooks, displaying a tougher, 'rock' edge than most of its ilk and some excellent softer songs. Equally recommended to power pop and '60s rock fans." --Aaron Milenski, The Acid Archives If you're continuously searching the margins for lost artifacts of the pop pantheon, you can find your daily dose in late period exponents of pure, lean, Beatlesque power pop band Promise. Originally issued in 1980 on the Boulder, Colorado, area band's own Cumulus label, their eponymous debut is filled with melodic, beatific blasts of pure pop, replete with ringing, jangly guitars and rollicking crunch. Co-led by singer-songwriters and guitarists Curt Mangan and Danny Mey -- with aid provided by the just-right rhythms of bassist Randy Jones and drummer Gary York -- the group created an album with precious little allying it to the punk-inspired power pop or prescient new wave of the time, instead choosing to hone in on a classicist pop sound highly indebted to those famous moptops from Liverpool. Abetted by the fact that some of the group's members had been playing together since their teenage combos of the mid '60s, the album carries an out-of-time flair across surging rockers and mournful balladry. Got Kinda Lost Records is ecstatic to give this benchmark of privately pressed power pop another chance to shine with this first ever reissue. Includes exhaustive liner notes by Jeremy Cargill (Ugly Things Magazine) culled from interviews with Mangan and Mey. RIYL: Badfinger, Big Star, early Cheap Trick, Emitt Rhodes, The Raspberries, Liverpool Echo, The Scruffs, Shoes, Dwight Twilley Band, etc. CD $10 SKU:16561

PROTOTIPES - WE ARE BACK (90s Spanish power pop)-Label:NO TOMORROW LAST COPIES.The album debut by a band formed by ex-members of Spanish punk rock legends of the '90s SHOCK TREATMENT and DEPRESSING CLAIM. A superb collection of sing-along power-pop, bittersweet midtempo melodic-punk and some killer blasts of mean punk'n'roll thrown in for good measure. A must for fans of the Spanish punk pop sound of the '90s and for anyone interested in classy punk rock. CD $8 SKU:19898

PSYCHEDELIC MOODS PART 2 - Sunset Love & Inner Sanctum Journey Thru Inner Space)Label:CICADELIC After releasing the “Psychedelic Moods” album, in October of 1966, Mark Barkan envisioned another psychedelic album for his next release. It was to be performed by a Greenwich Village band called “Inner Sanctum”. The theme of the album was to be a psychedelic journey into the various psyches of the mind. The trip started with a journey into the past (The House Of Yesterday) then covered the inner workings of the mind (ID) then the descent into madness (Hydro Pyro) hallucination (Purple Floating) and finally culminating in nirvana (Snow Petals). Unfortunately, Barkan was unable to find a record company willing to lease the masters and so they languished for decades unreleased. Now, at long last the masters for this aborted album are mixed from the original four track tapes and forty plus years later the psychedelic sounds of “Inner Sanctum” are now ready, willing, and able to blow your mind. Sunset Love” was comprised of band members from New Mexico and Texas. In the fall of 1968, thirteen original songs and two covers were recorded for a potential album, but nothing was ever released. “Sunset Love’s” lush harmonies, soaring vocals, superior song writing, and flower power consciousness pervaded their songs with a depth and quality unheard of from most 60s’ bands. While their sound can be compared to such bands as “The Mamas and The Papas”, “The Peanut Butter Conspiracy”, “Spanky and Our Gang”, and “The Love Exchange”, “Sunset Love” had their own inimitable style that transcended a generic stereo-type. Had Sunset Love released their album in the 60’s, there is no doubt it would have been an instant rarity of excellence. The “Sunset Love” tapes are sourced from the original stereo versions and reveal the great harmonies and surrealistic lyrics of an undeservedly overlooked and forgotten band from the late 60’ CD $10 SKU:12399

PTARMIGAN -ST (hynotic mystical w inserts and photos) Label:LION Hypnotic, mystical, largely instrumental tracks, all based on a complex interplay of recorder, hand drums and acoustic guitar—one of those hidden gems that make life better when you discover them all these years later. Ptarmigan recorded the basic tracks for what would eventually become their only album in 1972. It then took the band’s producer and manager, renowned flautist Paul Horn, more than a year to find a label willing to release such unusual music. Finally, in 1974, Columbia Records released Ptarmigan’s album to critical acclaim, and minimal sales. The music of Ptarmigan is deep and authentic and intimate; it's reflective sounds are well suited to meditating on a landscape, an emotion, a bottle of wine, or maybe while staring at a flickering candle. Sometimes it is free-flowing and jazz-oriented; at other times it has the mystical feel of a shamanistic ceremony, fueled by Eastern-tinged harmonies. But in the end, this album is about the sea: Ptarmigan was, after all, from Vancouver Island, and the musicians were well-versed in the contradictory moods of the surrounding ocean. Rated by many as the best "folk/progressive" and/or "folk/psych" album ever made. As one contemporary review said, this is "music from musicians, for musicians, late-at-night, last joint music." Our Lion Productions reissue comes with a massive fold-out insert which includes lyrics, liner notes from the band, and a multitude of photos and historical mementos.•Rated by many as the best "folk/progressive" and/or "folk/psych" album ever made•From the master tapes •Limited second press of 300x copies •Huge insert comes with lyrics, liner notes from the band, and more LP $19 SKU:16108

PUSSY - Invasion (POST JERUSALEM 72/73)Label:LION Vinyl debut for post-Jerusalem material from 1972/73! Jerusalem is well known among 70s hard rock enthusiasts thanks to their stone-cold classic 1972 Deram label debut album. After that record was released, the band made the bold decision to not to continue with the same name—for them, Jerusalem was a one-off moment in time and could never be recreated. And so, three-fifths of Jerusalem (founding members Paul Dean and Ray Sparrow along with Bob Cooke), became Pussy. The new band were still managed and produced by Ian Gillan (Deep Purple). Pussy recorded and released one single on Deram and then went on to record tracks between 1972 and 1973 with Brian Goff taking over for Bob Cooke on guitar, for their debut album—which was never released. QUICK, BILL - MARAVILLOSA GENTE ( 70s obscure psych gem) -Label:TIME LAG Pressed on 180 gm audiophile grade vinyl, and limited to 1000 copiesDeluxe LP reissue of amazing little know gem (entitled “beautiful people”) from 1972. Born in Miami to an American father and Venezuelan mother, Bill split the USA and went to Madrid, Spain in the early 70s. Once there, he landed a recording deal with famous producer Alain Milhaud for the Explosion label, and set to work on this, his sole album. Sessions included an impressive cast of players in the studio, including Salvador Dominguez & Chema Pellicó (from Cerebrum), Jess Lam (Jess & James), and Frank Rojas (Sangre). One of the album’s real hidden treasures, though, was the assistance of unknown Texan Mark Gottschall, who co-wrote the title track and adds perfect vocal harmonies as well a second acoustic guitar. The album has an air of mystical psychedelia, and there's a real sun-blasted quality to it all that makes you want to crank the volume. The lyrics (all in English) feel deeply sincere; when combined with Quick’s unique voice, unusual accent, and loose delivery, it makes for one hell of a cool record. Reissued here for the first time, with the collaboration of original producer Milhaud. packaged in a heavy weight gloss coated exact reproduction of the original cover, including the original double sided insert, as well as a huge new full color foldout insert which reproduces at nearly full size the Brazilian version of the album art. Extensive notes by Salvador Dominguez, Mark Gottschall, and Alex Carretero (Guerssen Records, Spain). Art includes rare picture sleeves 45s, promotional inserts, lyric sheets; the LP labels reproduce the original psychedelic full color Explosion label art. LP $14 SKU:19296

RABBLE RABBLE- Composure (PSYCH space trip) SWIRL VINYL -Label:EYE VYBE RECORDS (USA) Rabble Rabble spent nearly a decade building a heavy reputation for raucous basement shows where any attendee will inevitably leave the room drenched in beer and twice as drunk as before. The addition of Kieterang See Jru (also of Strychnine, Plastic Crimewave Syndicate) in 2013 effectively spiked the band's punch with a healthy dose of LSD, and soon their live shows became full on psychedelic space trips, infusing the heavy, reckless garage punk they built themselves on with krautrock rhythms, proto metal edge and a dash of Smashing Pumpkin-esque guitar leads. Composure is a great finale to the trip that was Rabble Rabble. Limited to 300 copies, 12 min/side; plays at 45 rpm; includes lyric insert; pressed on random marble swirl vinyl by gotta groove records. LP $10 SKU:19484

RAINBOW PRESS- There's a War On (68 psych insert with liners)-Label:OUT-SIDER (Spain) Out-Sider presents the first legit reissue of There's a War On by The Rainbow Press, a cool US '68 psychedelic concept album with all the right moves: solid songwriting, refreshing harmonies, studio effects, organ, fuzz guitar, electric piano, sunshine/baroque touches -- think The Rainy Daze, Strawberry Alarm Clock, The Doors. The Rainbow Press evolved from The Continental Divide, a college band from New York containing members from two previous British invasion groups: The Group and The Specs. They were Bill Yergin on drums, Dave Troup on bass, Larry Milton on electric piano and 12-string guitar, Marc Ellis on guitar, Charlie Osborne on organ, and Joe Groff on vocals. All the members sang vocal harmonies and the twin electric piano/organ action gave the band an unusual and cool sound. In 1968, Audio Fidelity approached them and a contract was secured. The band changed their name to the more groovy-sounding The Rainbow Press and sessions for their first album started at Radio City in New York. There's a War On saw the light in 1968 on the Mr. G label (the "hip" branch of Audio Fidelity). It's hard to believe this perfectly recorded psychedelic beauty was made by college students! Remastered sound; includes insert with liner notes telling the band's story for the first time. LP $15 SKU:16564

RATIONALS-10” Temptation Bout to get Me (60s Detroit-Label:TOTAL ENERGY LAST COPIES When serious collectors compose lists of the top shoulda-been-bigger bands of the '60s, the Rationals are often among them. Coming out of the same Ann Arbor, MI scene that gave birth to the MC5 and the Stooges, the group's forte was a sort of garageish take on blue-eyed soul, built around the fine RB-hued vocals of frontman Scott Morgan. Their mid-'60s singles, however, didn't break in many areas outside of Michigan (where they had some big local hits), and by the time they got to record an album, they had long passed their peak.the Rationals actually predated the MC5/Stooges by quite some time, both chronologically and stylistically. When they began recording for the local A2 label in 1965, they were, like many garage bands, heavily influenced by the British Invasion, although they gave their material a more soulful flavor than most similar units. "Gave My Love" was a chart-topper in Ann Arbor (and a hit in Detroit), as was a follow-up single of "Respect" (which predated Aretha Franklin's version). Picked up for national distribution by Cameo/Parkway, it nudged into the lowest regions of the national charts as well.”LP $5 SKU:4220

RATLIFF,K.S & BLACK MAGIC-FEAR OF THE NIGHT (RARE psych garage private press 1982)-Label:SUBLIMINAL SOUNDS (SWEDEN) First time limited edition vinyl reissue of an extremely rare and unique teenage real people psych garage private press album from 1982. It's so damn off the radar, rare and elusive that it even eluded the writers of the 'Acid Archives' book. This music has the direct and real emotional honesty of Kenneth Higney crossed with the ominous sci-fi atmosphere of Marcus, boiled down to the essentials, merging a psyched up garage sense of teen discovery with music so uncontrived it naturally delivers hook after hook. LP $22 SKU:19924

RAUNCH -Total Raunch (savage '60s heavy fuzz)Label:BREAK A WAY Raunch from Ossining, N.Y. were one of the countless mid-'60s groups born into a healthy local garage scene, living the classic story of local bands for two years and then almost forgotten for the last five decades. In the short time of their existence, the Raunch released a legendary 7-inch, made it with one track onto the collectable "Battle Of The Bands" LP on the regionally active Ren-Vell Label and in 1967 recorded another until now unreleased pair of tracks. Both sides of their sole single on Bazaar Records, are good examples of classic '60s garagepunk. 'A Little While Back' is a crude heavy fuzz punker with a blistering guitar solo perfectly backed with 'I Say You're Wrong', a tough n moody song with the classic garage girl-treats-boy-bad lyrics on the flip. While both sides of the 7-inch were group originals written by Sandy Katz, their LP contribution for Ren-Vell was a cover of Paul Revere & The Raiders' 'Hungry', played by the group in their unique "raunchy style" of course. Even more unique is the treatment the boys gave to their unreleased recordings of 'Hey Joe' and 'Tobacco Road'. Again recorded at Ren-Vell in 1967, both covers are unbelievable ultra heavy fuzz killers with a wild brand of slashing and uncompromising guitar playing. Despite losing several battle of the bands contests, their ultimate victory comes in the shape of this one-sided Break-A-Way release. Five tracks with enough excitement and power for two LP sides, all of which are '60s savage garage punk and, once heard, unforgettable. LP $12 SKU:16485

REAL KIDS-Shake Outta Control-180-GRAM -Label:UGLY POP It's been 38 years since Boston's REAL KIDS debuted with the finest rock'n'roll record ever committed to tape, and now they're back with a long-awaited new full-length on legendary hometown label Ace Of Hearts and Canada's Ugly Pop. Of course, long time fans can always be excused some apprehension when a band of this vintage presents new material so deep into their career, but there's no cause to fret here. “Shake...Outta Control” is a fantastic return to form, a strong set of powerful, memorable and engaging songs that do absolute justice to this band's legacy. While some bands lose track of their own soul in forced attempts at progression, and others risk diminishing returns by simply treading the water of their earlier work, 2014 finds the Real Kids negotiating this path beautifully. Boasting both the raw energy and tough hooks of 1977 and the matured chops and expanded palette of frontman John Felice's “Nothing Pretty” LP, the dozen songs on this disc settle easily among the band's best work. Producer Rick Harte guides with an expert hand, integrating Hammond organ and pedal steel seamlessly into a full yet suitably unpolished whole, and the songs run the gamut from quieter but intense ballads like a definitive new “Common At Noon” and a sublime take on Jonathan Richman's “Fly Into The Mystery” to fast-paced rockers like “All Night Boppin'” (powered along by highly caffeinated barroom piano) and of course the instant classic title track, a high-energy gem anchored by the sort of classic Boston punk rock'n'roll riff that made this band's name. Culminating in an incendiary “Who Needs You?”, this is a genuine Real Kids record that will thrill new fans and old alike. Superbly mastered at New York's renowned Sterling Sound, the “Shake...Outta Control” LP was cut 100% analog direct from tape and pressed at RIP-V on 180G vinyl for an incredible high-quality deluxe package LP $16 SKU:16354
