TELESCOPES-STONE TAPE (shoegaze psych-Label:COLD SPRING The 10th album from The Telescopes is full of wall-to-wall psychedelic drones, swaying chants, trance-inducing shoegaze and "suspended-in-space magnificence." ~Julian Cope. 'Stone Tape' is a concept album inspired by "Stone Tape Theory" (or "residual haunting"), theorized by Thomas Charles Lethbridge in 1961. The archaeologist, parapsychologist and explorer developed the idea that inanimate materials can absorb energy from living beings, and that this mental electrical energy, released during emotional or traumatic events, could somehow be "stored" in such materials and "reproduced" under certain conditions. The hypothesis has been known as "Stone Tape Theory" since the cult 1972 TV screenplay 'Stone Tape' by Nigel Neale. Recorded in Powderhorn Minneapolis, The Vicarage, West Yorkshire and The Experimental Health Unit. Originally released on a limited edition LP by Italian publishing house Yard Press in 2017, this CD edition contains a bonus 14-minute version of the track 'The Living Things', recorded in Switzerland in 2018. Presented in a digipak with new artwork by Stephen Lawrie. CD $17 SKU:21679

VISITORS (AUSTRALIA)-ST (Radio Birdman style Aussie rock and roll)-Label:CITADEL The Visitors were part of a unique time and place in Sydney rock and roll, the likes of which no-one will see again. Venues were opening to what would become a flood of raw and energetic music. After splitting up in England, Radio Birdman's surviving members individually drifted back to Sydney in mid to late 1978. Hundreds of punk and loud high energy rock bands had appeared on the scene, easily going through doors that had been kicked open two years earlier. Many were copies of the style-obsessed English punk scene. Others slavishly copied their (often narrow) perception of what they thought Birdman had been. Some would say that the DIY ethos, not artistic genre, was the Radio's most lasting legacy. Most missed the point. Radio Birdman was a much more musical entity than the razor blade vanguard of punk. The band's demise - and posthumous growth of its legend - left a vacuum in Sydney that demanded to be filled. In a sense, the Visitors did just that. Thanks to this re-issue, the Visitors live on in the recorded sense. A band, or some manifestation of it, may one day play again. It's not been ruled out. Mark sisto (lead vocal and former Radio Birdman Minister of Defence), for one, is moved by the level of interest the band still prompts. "It surprises me and it's touching that there's been as much positive feedback from it as it has gotten older. Why? Perhaps it's because people were so young then, I suppose. Perhaps for many that it was a significant first for them - like your early teenage love that you don't forget? Aw shucks. And also, we were good." CD $14 SKU:21670

VOLCANICS-TRANSMISSION (Scientists,Stooges/MC5 style)Label:CITADEL The band's third full-length album, produced by Radio Birdman's Bob Younger. Inspired by the Victims and the Scientists as well as by AC/DC, Stooges and MC5, the Volcanics play their own brand of fuel injected rock'n'roll and are well known for their explosive live performances. CD $14 SKU:21669

VOLCANICS -OH CRASH (Scientists,Stooges/MC5 style) Label:CITADEL No hype, just stripped down rock'n'roll at its best, Perth's Volcanics are back with their fourth studio album. 'Oh Crash', like its predecessors 'Get A Move' and 'Transmission', is produced by Radio Birdman's Rob Younger. Inspired by local Perth acts The Scientists and The Victims, the band also pays homage to The Stooges and MC5. Regardless, their sound is their own brand of raw and explosive rock, now notably bolstered by the fact the band has become a five-piece due to the addition of a second guitarist CD $14 SKU:21663

NEW NADIR/ME AND THE OTHERS -Uncovered: 11 Previously .Unreleased 1966-67 Freakbeat Tracks -Label:FEATHERED APPLE Unreleased 1966-67 freakbeat Tracks Featuring Gary Thain. Groundbreaking split LP including 5 killer previously unreleased 1967 freakbeat/r'n'b/garage studio tracks by the legendary New Nadir featuring Ed Carter from San Francisco, California on lead guitar and vocals (=pre The Beach Boys); Gary Thain from Christchurch, New Zealand on bass (=pre Keef Hartley, and Uriah Heep); plus Peter Dawkins also from Christchurch, New Zealand on drums (=the greatest record producer from down under). The New Nadir have played some celebrated clubs in London such as the Speakeasy where they gigged a few times with Jimi Hendrix, who was supposed to produce their first record for the UK Polydor label, however after Ed Carter had received the offer to join The Beach Boys, the band split and nothing was ever released. The five tracks by The New Nadir on this LP were recorded on Monday, August 28th 1967, at a professional Swiss recording studio near Zürich, and capture them in great mood at their fantastic first recordings. The songs range from top freakbeat/garage masterpieces (TOMORROW, as well as I NEED HER NOW), thru unique eastern influenced freakbeat tracks with raga riffs (BLACK SNOW), and onto the pop-art sound of PEOPLE ARE CHANGING, and the rambling r'n'b/freakbeat/garage guitar instrumental WALKING. The LP is highlighted by the monster previously unreleased freakbeat track LOVE IS NOT A GAME, which was recorded by the pre-New Nadir outfit Me And The Others in November 1966, at Regent Sound Studios in London. This could easily hail as one of the greatest freakbeat tracks which was ever produced in the UK. Me And The Others were a mid 60s beat/r'n'b/freakbeat band from Christchurch, New Zealand featuring Peter Dawkins on drums, and vocals (=ex The Strangers); Dave Chapman on guitar, Gary Thain on bass (=ex The Secrets, and The Strangers), as well as Paul Muggleston on lead vocals, guitar, and organ (=ex The Secrets, The Dynamics, Atlantics, etc.). The LP is rounded out by 5 choice never before released live tracks from a Me And The Others gig in Germany that was recorded in January 1967: The amazing Graham Bond Organisation type of guitar - organ instrumental COMING HOME BABY, plus fantastic kiwi modbeat/garage/freakbeat versions of YOU BETTER RUN, HOLD ON IM COMING, and CAN'T TURN YOU LOOSE, as well as the killer garage punk original track EVEN GREEN ONES. LP $25 SKU:21665

ALAIN PIRE EXPERIENCE-APEX (THEE neo-psych band from Belgium!) Label:CARDINAL FUZZ This is the most ambitious album so far by the Alain Pire Experience, THEE neo-psychedelic band from Belgium. Their third opus is simply called 'Apex', which means a point in Hercules' Constellation towards which our solar system is heading. Never forgetting their sense for melody, the band is also keen to create psychedelic atmospheres, using sitar, tablas, mellotron and backward loops. 'Apex' features a fantastic cover of George Harrison's 'Only A Northern Song' and welcomes, former Magma keyboard player, Jean-Luc Manderlier for an epic trippy improvisation on the Floydish 'Lost On A Cloud'. CD $18 SKU:21468

ARCADIUM- Breathe Awhile (ACid drenched 60s heavy psych ) - Label:ETHELION Originally released in 1969. Arcadium's ominous, cathedral-like organ, distorted guitar and anguished vocals are clearly derivative of bands such as The Doors, Iron Butterfly and Vanilla Fudge - very much in the 'downer-heavy' school of the genre that was popular at the time. Their album is something of a bad-trip soundtrack that relies on minor-key melodies, ghostly harmonies and anguished vocals. What with all its flaws - bad production, sloppy vocals and doomsday atmospherics - its historical significance is immense. The music's intensity and sense of urgency, the blazing acid-drenched guitars, the tortured vocals and heavy nightmarish sounds all perfectly convey the late '60s atmosphere. LP $24 SKU:21452

ASTRAL SON - Mind’s Eye (Cosmic Dutch neo-psych ) Label:SULATRON The third album by Dutch neo-psych solo-artist Astral Son once again is full of cosmic soundscapes, progressing into psychedelic tracks with plenty of far-out elements. 'Minds Eye' basically sounds like a logical continuation of Astral Son's previous album 'Silver Moon' and is arguably (even) better! If you enjoyed this space cadet's first two excursions, you'll definitely love 'Mind's Eye CD $16 SKU:21564

FALCO TAV LORE AND TESTAMENT Vol 11 Sugar Ditch Revisited/The Shake Rag DBL CDLabel:STAG-O-LEE (GERMANY) The Tav Falco & Panther Burns reissue/remaster series, part two. This one contains the Sugar Ditch Revisited EP (1985) and The Shake Rag EP (1986). Plus a previously-unreleased 11-song/45 minute live show from the Messepalast Vienna from 1989. Pristine recording by the ORF! Sugar Ditch Revisited -- a modest album with a huge cast of the crème of Memphis musicians joining Panther Burns. Jim Dickinson produced the record alongside Roland James, pioneer guitarist on the early Jerry Lee Lewis sides, twirling the knobs at the control board. This record featured two songs Dickinson had found on tapes discarded by Stax during the last days of the studio's existence. Sir Mac Rice an ex-Falcon penned "Tina, The Go Go Queen" and "Money Talks." For these numbers Andrew Love and Ben Cauley were brought in from the Memphis Horns to add that lush and signature lilt of the laid-back "Memphis sound." Alex Chilton played his new guitar -- a rusty Mosrite, the bassist Rene Coman came up from New Orleans for the sessions, Ross Johnson whipped the skins, and a bevy of girlfriends sang backing vocals. Shake Rag -- Panther Burns recorded this dark and lugubrious mini-album at the Sam Phillips Recording Service in Memphis in 1986. While this was the boom period for lavish alternative, new wave, and no wave music productions, there were only three stalwarts responsible for this record: Jim Dickinson producer, keyboardist, guitarist, Ross Johnson on percussion, and Tav Falco on guitar and voice. There is a raw primitivism howling from these tracks and an unbridled intensity not heard from the band in recorded form since their first record Behind the Magnolia Curtain. Live at Messepalast is a collection of songs cut from a wild and wooly two-hour show on Panther Burns' second tour of Europe in 1989. ORF (Austrian National Radio) was there recording the whole mess in ultra high-fidelity, and the result is what you will hear on this record. Two CDs in 12" replica sleeves, the live show is added to the Shake Rag EP. Includes a 32-page booklet featuring extensive liner notes by Tav Falco himself. Packaged in a special deluxe wraparound wallet sleeve. CD $19 SKU:17747

LARRY’S REBELS- I Feel Good The Essential Purple Flashes of Larry's Rebels 1965-1969 -Label:RPM Larry's Rebels had one of the goofier names in the history of rock & roll -- it invites the question, who is this Larry and why does he have his own set of rebels? -- but nobody laughs at their moniker in New Zealand, where for five years they were one of the nation's biggest and best beat groups. Larry's Rebels were sometimes compared to the Animals in their homeland (they released a solid cover of "Inside Looking Out"), and while they lacked the fierce blues power of the British band, they shared their talent for taking well-known songs and giving them a distinctive spin of their own. Singer Larry Morris had a strong, versatile voice that worked with sunny pop numbers and harder blues-based material, and guitarist John Williams (no relation to the classical guitarist or the film composer) could play tough, howling leads dipped in fuzz and feedback; this was a band that could cover the Who and the Creation and, if not surpassing the originals, deliver versions that had a backbone and a personality of their own. (And "Flying Scotsman," an obvious lift from "Train Kept A Rollin'," burns nearly as bright as the Yardbirds' variation on the theme.) Larry's Rebels were stars in New Zealand and fared well in Australia, but they failed to break through in the U.K. and were unknown in the United States, and for many fans of '60s rock, I Feel Good: The Essential Purple Flashes of Larry's Rebels 1965-1969 will be their first exposure to the band. And these 24 tunes (with a vintage Coca-Cola commercial tacked on as a bonus) confirm that plenty of folks were missing out on a worthwhile band that could tackle moody pop ("This Empty Place"), sneering R&B ("Whatcha Gonna Do 'Bout It"), raunchy garage punk ("Coloured Flowers") and proto-psychedelia ("Halloween") with equal confidence and skill. Featuring a well-written history of the band by Grant Gillanders and lots of rare photos and clippings, I Feel Good: The Essential Purple Flashes of Larry's Rebels 1965-1969 is a definitive single-disc overview of the band's brief but remarkable career, and anyone with a taste for U.K. R&B or freakbeat of the era will enjoy this sampler of the rock & roll kings of the Antipodes. WEED - ST (1971 Krautrock rarity repress) Label:LONGHAIR Repress! Originally released on Philips 6305096 in 1971. Weed were formed by former Virus-members bass player Reinhold Spiegelfeld, singer Bernd Hohmann and guitarist Werner Monka after the first Virus incarnation split at the end of 1970. There are rumours that Uriah Heep organ player, Ken Hensley, contributed to this project simply called Weed. From 1971 till today no one knows exactly what was excactly going on because unfortunately the album sleeve didn't list the line-up. There are 6 tracks on the album which were composed by concert promoter Bodo Albes and Rainer Goltermann, household producer of Philips made sure the sessions in the Windrose-Dumont Time studio in Hamburg. Whether Hensley played on this album or not the album sound is very similar to the Uriah Heep sound between 'Salisbury' and the follow-up album 'Look At Yourself'. 'The Crack In The Cosmic Egg' authors Steven and Allan Freeman are right, when they compared it to other German heavy rock stars of the era such as Blackwater Park, Epitaph or Armaggedon. This Uriah Heep versus "Krautrock-crossover-album" is a must have for each lover of Krautrock. Comes as reproduction of the original cover sleeve with additional insert.. LP $25 SKU:21288
