BAD SPELL -DON'T GO OUT TONIGHT (Early STONES style fuzzed-out, psyched-up southern garage rock and roll. ) -Label:MIDNIGHT CRUISER RECORDS Bad Spell is a three-piece garage rock & roll combo hailing from Atlanta, GA. Members Bryan G. Malone (The Forty-Fives), Shane Pringle (Tiger! Tiger!, Go-Devils), and Pietro Digenarro (The Booze, Midnight Larks) produce an electric and driving rock & roll sound that draws from a variety of influences such as early Stones, Sonics, Remains, Roky Erickson, MC5, Dead Moon, Moving Sidewalks, Scientists, Howlin' Wolf, and Chuck Berry. Having formed in 2016, the band soon found themselves being asked to perform in venues all over the Southeast with acts such as Guitar Wolf, NoBunny, and Subsonics. The approach was simple: A fuzzy guitar, a booming baritone, and a madman on drums playing catchy songs with a more than a hint of hell-bound attitude and plenty of reckless abandon. Their psyched-out, over-the-top live show has endeared them to the Atlanta music scene and beyond LP $19 SKU:21336

GULAAB - RITT DURCH DEN HADES (Ultra-rare lost psych kraut-folk from 1979)-Label:MERLIN’s NOSE Ultra-rare lost psychedelic kraut-folk from 1979. First time on CD! Taken from the original mastertapes. Gulaab means rose in Nepalese language. Gulaab is a German virtuoso on the acoustic guitar who has served three years as an after dinner musician in a luxury restaurant in Nepal to play for an amazing number of well known personalities of the 20th century during the early 70s. A strongly influential experience that shaped his musical expression big time but also let him become an open minded spirit. 'Ritt Durch Den Hades' is the result of his experimentation with sounds, atmospheres and a multitude of styles in traditional music from Latin to Eastern Asian elements. It was first released in 1979, vanishing into obscurity soon after, waiting to be rediscovered by a more open minded generation of music lovers now. Traditionalists be forewarned: This mystic grail of 70s 'kraut folk' stands far out from the average folk and singer/songwriter stuff combining guitar harmonies of the highest order with a cosmic drone that backs up the hypnotizing picking and trippy swirls of sounds. This album is in fact more like a musical journey than just a piece of music taking you from secret sacrificial altars in the Andes to the ceremonial places of the ancient Himalayan population with a short stopover for a little "joint venture" in the musical space centers of highly flown out German originators like Ash Ra Tempel/Manuel Göttsching, Popol Vuh/Florian Fricke, Witthüser & Westrupp, Bröselmaschine, Dom or Deuter. Now to take a ride through Hades with Gulaab! CD $12 SKU:21320

DOWNER-ROCK-ASYLUM (extremely rare downer-rock tracks) Label:AUDIO ARCHIVES A special hard-hitting selection of live and extremely rare downer-rock tracks featuring historically important material by very early Judas Priest and UFO plus Bedlam. Also, pre-Judas Priest outfit The Flying Hat Band led by Glenn Tipton. Amazingly, Audio Archives now present unique material from Rob Halford's first ever official Priest concert and even more staggeringly, the last Priest gig with original singer Al Atkins and drummer Chris Congo Campbell from April 1973. The lengthy composition 'Morpheus' is one of Atkins' finest moments. 'Red Light Lady' plus two other songs showcase the impactful, yet nervous arrival of Halford during that crucial crossover period. Truly significant recordings of huge appeal to all Priest fans. Other bands featured are Hackensack who deliver a fierce medley to kick things off plus Welsh heavies Budgie and the primordial Albert Monk with a deranged vocalist and a brutal, bass heavy style of 1970. An 80 minute onslaught of undiluted downer-rock from quarter inch masters of excellent sound quality throughout. COMP CD $16 SKU:21275

Less than 50 copies were pressed at the time, housed in a plain white demo sleeve with the band name hand-written in pen on the cover. Classic '70s prog, with significant elements of fusion and psychedelic rock. Sometimes it sounds like a jazzier, jammer take on 'Close To The Edge'. Other times it sounds like Rick Wakeman briefly joined Pink Floyd during the 'Wish You Were Here' sessions. And then there are the tracks that sound like a looser, more electrified Graham Bond Organization. LP $32 SKU:21341

WEED - ST (1971 Krautrock rarity repress) Label:LONGHAIR Repress! Originally released on Philips 6305096 in 1971. Weed were formed by former Virus-members bass player Reinhold Spiegelfeld, singer Bernd Hohmann and guitarist Werner Monka after the first Virus incarnation split at the end of 1970. There are rumours that Uriah Heep organ player, Ken Hensley, contributed to this project simply called Weed. From 1971 till today no one knows exactly what was excactly going on because unfortunately the album sleeve didn't list the line-up. There are 6 tracks on the album which were composed by concert promoter Bodo Albes and Rainer Goltermann, household producer of Philips made sure the sessions in the Windrose-Dumont Time studio in Hamburg. Whether Hensley played on this album or not the album sound is very similar to the Uriah Heep sound between 'Salisbury' and the follow-up album 'Look At Yourself'. 'The Crack In The Cosmic Egg' authors Steven and Allan Freeman are right, when they compared it to other German heavy rock stars of the era such as Blackwater Park, Epitaph or Armaggedon. This Uriah Heep versus "Krautrock-crossover-album" is a must have for each lover of Krautrock. Comes as reproduction of the original cover sleeve with additional insert.. LP $25 SKU:21288

DEVIL’S KITCHEN- Been A Long Time Coming, Be A Long Time Gone- (legendary SF 60s psych ) Label:NONE Band-produced CD covers their entire rambling, gigging, rubbing-shoulders-with-a-multitude-of-famous-bands in the legendary San Francisco psychedelic scene of the late 1960’s existence. Duplicates only one track from the Lysergic Sound LP release of the band’s recordings, one of our best sellers here at Lion Productions… which means eleven recordings get their debut on this disc!"Devil's Kitchen Band was a four-piece rock and roll band that lived and performed in San Francisco from the spring of 1968 through the summer of 1970. They were the “house band” at Chet Helm’s “Family Dog on the Great Highway,” opening for, and often jamming with, many of the most well-known groups of the times. They performed at all of the major West Coast venues from San Francisco’s Fillmore to L.A.’s Whisky A Go Go. This CD is a collection of live recordings from 1969 and 1970 in San Francisco and is an attempt to give the listener the feel of being at a show at one of the venues of the times. The tracks were recorded on different days, in different halls, by different engineers. We have remastered these tracks to sound as much as possible as if they were all recorded the same evening as a coherent set of live music. We hope you enjoy this set of twelve songs from the late 60s San Francisco by one of the very talented but little known bands of the era. GROUP 1850 - Mother No Head-Their 45s (60 psych) - Label:PSEUDONYM RECORDS (NETHERLANDS) Though they were a product of the beat group age, Group 1850 were the Netherlands' first progressive band, in every sense of that word. Constantly changing, constantly evolving, Group 1850 were musical extremists on a do-or-die mission to explode all expectations. Sparks flew, ideas flared, feedback swirled through misty nights, the dead walked, skeletons danced, flies buzzed, mountains fell, words rained fire from angry purple skies. Group 1850 raised all kinds of hell. My god, were they good. Although the group made two deservedly revered albums, 'Agemo's Trip To Mother Earth' (1968) and 'Paradise Now' (1969), some of their best work can be found on their singles, where their borderline insane hyper-creativity was focused into highly-concentrated, radically potent three-minute songs like 'Misty Night', 'Mother No-Head', 'Zero', 'We Love Live (Like We Love You)', 'Don't Let It Be (We Have to Do It Now)', and the magnificent 'Have You Ever Heard'. The A- and B-sides of all their singles can be found on this unique CD in their original mono mixes, mastered from the original tapes. A number of previously unreleased demos are also included. 'Mother No-Head: Their 45s' comes packaged in a breathtaking digipack cover with rare archival photos, memorabilia and liner notes by Ugly Things Mike Stax. Exclusively restored dynamic 24 bit remastering from the original master tapes. CD $14 SKU:14760

KATH - 1 (original album) + Unreleased Material -Obscure garage psych ACID ARCHIVES FAVE! - DBL CD Label:LION As Patrick the Lama said in Acid Archives, “Obscure and impressive melodic basement garage/psych excursion with a lo-fi atmosphere that would have most purveyors flip out, hits the Ampex two-track echo & tinny drum sound dead on.... At times the vibe is almost like Mystery Meat or Index, and that's not something you run across every day. A totally outside garage/psych/private LP that feels as personally projected as those Michael Yonkers sides. CD $14 SKU:14509

LOST SOULS-mid 60s unknown U.S. Brit Invasion/ psych)Label:LION The Lost Souls never released any records, yet the meager recorded evidence that survives indicates that they were one of the finest unknown American groups of the mid-'60s, able to write both catchy British Invasion-type rockers and, in their latter days, experimental psychedelic pieces with unusual tempo changes and song structures. The band were also unusual in their occasional embellishment of the typical period guitar-bass-drums lineup with flute, sax, and mandolin. Although popular in their Cleveland hometown, they broke up in 1968 to attend college. Rhythm guitarist Denny Carleton, who wrote and sang some of their best material, went on to briefly join The Choir, their chief (and more successful) rivals." —Richie Unterberger The music scene in Cleveland in the mid to late 1960’s was ripe with talent: the James Gang with Joe Walsh and Glenn Schwartz, The Choir, Eric Carmen (pre-Raspberries), Glass Harp with Phil Keaggy, the Damnation of Adam Blessing… and the Lost Souls. Of all those bands, only the Lost Souls never released a record. Then again, they were in high school, trying to navigate dress codes and bullies—and playing in front of a couple thousand fans when not suspended. Sure, they lost a battle of the bands at Teen Fair 1968, but it was to the James Gang with Joe Walsh. And somehow it is the Lost Souls who emerge from that time and place with the greatest mystique and some of the most adventurous music, music which few have heard. Lost Souls main songwriter Denny Carleton released a cassette of the band’s original recordings in 1984. It received airplay on hundreds of college and public radio stations in the USA (and around the world), and garnered glowing reviews… and that was it, until now.Not only is this the first time the music of the Lost Souls has been available since that cassette, our Lion Productions edition is the first release for many additional Lost Souls cuts, including alternate versions of key tracks like the insightful ‘Things That Are Important’ and ‘I’m Falling’ (the closest to a hit the band ever had), all taken from the original tapes and carefully mastered. Seven bonus tracks highlight the work of Lost Soul's main songwriter Denny Carleton (one-time member of The Choir, and more surprisingly, punk legends the Pagans); selections by The Choir, Moses, Milk and Carleton, many in all possible low-fi glory, recorded on various 4-Track devices, ranging from power-pop to grimy garage.•Whopping 32-page booklet has the full story of the band and info on the recordings by Carlton
•Includes a multitude of unseen photos from his personal archive
•Carefully remastered from the original tapes (+ the occasional post-Lost Souls 45 single) •”One of the great lost groups of the 60's.” —Option Magazine CD $14 SKU:20365

ROOSTERS All of Our Days ( 60s jangly garage W stunning never-before-seen photos.) - Label:BREAK-A-WAY The Roosters have been known among fans and followers of the Californian mid 60s folk rock scene for a long time. Their “One Of These Days” b/w “You Gotta Run” 45 has been included on early garage compilations and is a huge favourite among collectors. Less well known is their second and at least as brilliant 45 “Rosebush” / “Ain’t Gonna Cry Anymore”. Additionally there´s a rare 1965 surf/mersey punk single released under the name “Five More”, an early 1965 acetate put down as the Avengers and most of all, three 1966 stunning unreleased folk/garage janglers recorded at Gold Star Studio. This collection finally puts all these gems in one place and unravels the enigmas behind the band on a LP sized full glossy insert with a detailed history of the band emerging from the memoirs of guitarist and songwriter Timothy Ward and the band’s vocalist Ray Mangigian. This is embellished with a load of stunning never-before-seen photos. Finally here´s the legacy of an underrated, but excellent band direct from Los Angeles, the mid-Sixties epicenter of jangle – The ROOSTERS! CD $10 SKU:19670

SOUL EXPLOSION-SOUL FIRE(late 60s psych soul mystery)Label:GRANADILLA MUSIC One of the great mysteries of late '60s psychedelic soul music! Though only released on the German exploitation market in 1968, this exceptional album may very well be the work of an American studio outfit (or Americans living in Germany?), performing exclusive songs written by well known US composers such as Martin Siegel and Scott English. The material is rather diverse, but most of the music here is high quality soul music, often -especially on Side 2- with scorching psychedelic guitarwork and/or swirling organ parts. But there also are traces of pop and you even get a Dylan-esque slice of folk-rock. Odd, exciting and unique CD $10 SKU:20875

STEPPING OUT -ANOTHER CONCERT SOMEWHERE(Heavy psych blues 69-70)-Label:KARMA MUSIC Stepping Out was a Danish band that took the stage along with their fellow countrymen Beefeaters, Alrune Rod and Burning Red Ivanhoe on many occasions and festivals. All the heavy psychedelic/blues rock material on this CD was recorded live somewhere in Danmark between 1969 and 1970. Featuring some 10, 15 and even 20 minute long tracks. CD $16 SKU:21209

TOMRERCLAUS -ST (1978 Classic Danish guitar psych)Label:KARMA MUSIC Reissue on CD of the classic PSYCHEDELIC ROCK piece originally released privatley in 1978 and taken from the original mastertapes. WILDE FLOWERS- ST ( 60s Brit pop ) booklet is packed with photos, cuttings and extensive sleeve notes - Label:VOICEPRINT Booklet is packed with photos, cuttings and extensive sleeve notes from the band members. It is simplistic to merely say that The Wilde Flowers were a popular music group based in the vicinity of Canterbury, England. Although the band name itself may not ring any bells for too many people (they never released any records during the band’s lifetime, from 1964-1967), it was a pillar of the legendary Canterbury scene of the mid-to-late sixties. The Wilde Flowers have assumed an almost mythical status simply because of the musicians that passed through them. Band members included, at various times, Hugh Hopper (bass), Robert Wyatt (drums, vocals), Kevin Ayers (vocals) (all soon to form the Soft Machine), as well as the basis of influential Canterbury band, Caravan: Richard Sinclair (rhythm guitar, vocals), Pye Hastings (guitar, vocals), David Sinclair (keyboards), Richard Coughlan (drums) and Brian Hopper (lead guitar, alto saxophone, vocals). This CD is the very first commercially available record of the Wilde Flowers sessions. A number of tracks on this disc were recorded at a session at Regent Sound Studios on the 6 August 1969, though by this time, the careers of Soft Machine and Caravan were already underway; these tracks are of interest as they feature tracks recorded by Wyatt, Hugh Hopper and Pye Hastings: ‘Impotence’ (Hopper/Wyatt), ‘She Loves To Hurt ‘(Hopper), and ‘Memories’ (Hopper). A fourth track, ‘The Big Show’ (Brian Hopper), also sees Brian Hopper joining in. Thus one of progressive rock's most important bands came to an end with the formation of the Canterbury scene's most popular groups, Soft Machine and Caravan. Not all the members that passed through the ranks of The Wilde Flowers ended up in these two bands. Brian Hopper also formed the short-lived band Zobe, some of whose recordings also appear on this disc. CD $8 SKU:14884

RAKS RAKS RAKS -VA 27 GOLDEN GARAGE PSYCH NUGGETS FROM THE IRANIAN 60S SCENE-Label: FLOATING WORLD ' - This is one of the most anticipated as well as unexpected compilations from the global depths of 60s and 70s rock'n'roll: The Persian scene. Let alone coming across with a representative compilation, even solid evidences of such a scene has not been seen until now and has been largely suspected, maybe save for a select few of eager garage and psychedelic record collectors and enthusiasts of worldwide rock, who have been trying to hunt such sounds on the internet and private collectors' circles, usually to no avail. Needless to say, the most important factor in this has been the obvious hideously rare status that Iran's pre-Revolution East-West cross cultural artefacts are in right now. As with almost all Asiatic countries, the Shadows and the Ventures seem to be the true and primal influence in the Iranian music scene of the most part of 60s for the rock sound and attitude to penetrate the country's fledgeling record industry and its swinging public base. In 1964, the legendary Top4 company opened up and started releasing choice chart hits from the worldwide lists, on 4-track EPs, followed soon by MonoGram and other companies. These mixed up records featured a lot of popular songs of the day, spanning the whole European continent i.e. including what's referred to now as 'Euro pop' hits and the 'big brothers', UK and US charts. The day's youth back then was lucky: they could follow the West moment by moment now. The foremost impact of these were to feature and spread British invaders, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, otherwise available only on radio. Come 1966, 60s was in full swing in Iran too! EXOTIC-O-RAMA + CD- VOL 2 Rare 45s from the 50s and 60s!-Label:JUKEBOX MUSIC FACTORY Exotic-O-Rama' is certainly the most absurd and out-of-the-ordinary, the most fun and convivial series of '50s and '60s tunes yet compiled by dear ole El Vidocq. And Volume 2 presents a selection even more audacious than its smashing predecessor. Embark upon an eclectic safari through a lush pacotille of melodies, from groovy R'n'B mangroves (The Ramrocks) home to nestling toucans (The Century Five), to head-shrinking rockers (Bob Vaught) and doo-wopping crocs (The El Capris), not to mention a few veritable birds of paradise (Rosco Gordon)... Wildlife worthy of an Ed Wood flick! But while the ambiance often turns outrageous, keep in mind that these exotic ditties were concocted by the same trailblazing performers who would inspire Lux Interior of The Cramps and Fred Schneider of the B-52s... While most of the groups comprise colorfully daubed Yanks, there's also a stray Italian (Franco Ei "G5") and a passel of playful Mexicans (The Stardusters). The album art, signed Jampur Fraize, is one of the most sumptuous to date, which is saying something. Yet another tangy treat for the eyes and ears, brought to you by El Vidocq and his vine-swinging comrades.. COMP LP $24 SKU:20945

40 WATT BANANA- Peeled (1968 Indo-Afro psych )-Label:PHARAWAY SOUNDS The 40 Watt Banana, formed in 1968, was a unique band in New Zealand, the only group that ventured into the esoteric realm of Indo-Afro psychedelic music. “Peeled” includes their sought-after 45 from 1971 (the sitar-psych-dancer “Nirvana”) plus previously unreleased recordings full of sitar, tabla, sarod, tanpura, trumpet, recorder, effects, tape echo… Formed by Kevin Clark and Dave Parsons, initially as a jazz combo playing in restaurants, they soon incorporated elements of Indian and African music to their sound, after some soul searching and spiritual experiences. The result was an atmospheric, spacey, improvised sound. In 1971, they released their only 45 for the HMV label. It featured a great sitar-psych track, “Nirvana”, similar to other psychedelic jazz-pop-funk experiments from the time such as “Mathar” by Dave Pike Set. But during the late 60s and early 70s, the band also recorded other stuff which has remained unreleased until now. * Insert with photos and liner notes by band member Kevin Clark (now a renowned world/jazz/fusion music artist LP $26 SKU:20956

ONE OF HOURS-When You Hear The Music, It’s Yours-(late ‘60s US Pepperish U.S garage psych)-Label:OUT-SIDER Cool late ‘60s US Pepperish psychedelia with inventive arrangements, fuzz guitars, studio effects…Recorded in 1967-68 but shelved at the time. Famous for their “Psychedelic Illusion” 45, US garage-psych band ONE OF HOURS formed in Lexington, KY, in 1966. After adding guitar player Bob Willcutt to their line-up, they released their second 45, “Feel the Pain" / “Psychedelic Illusion”, in 1967. Work then began on an album of a complete but varied musical experience called "When You Hear the Music, It's Yours".Fuelled by the creative force of band member Shawn Foreman (a true visionary who would create the cult electro / disco project Transistor-Jet in the 80s), the group (now called Dandelion Wine) entered Chetwyd Studios where they, in true psychedelic mode, experimented and used unusual techniques like backwards recording, paper under piano strings, singing through a comb, interconnecting Fuzz boxes, etc. The finished master tape containing 12 songs with titles like “Two Heads For 25 Cents”, “Sweet Dragonfly” or “Incense C-19X” was sent to the Liberty label with the promise of an album contract for 1968…but the deal never came through and the master tape was destroyed in a warehouse fire. Luckily, Bob Willcutt kept a first generation copy of the master with perfect sound which we present here in a deluxe vinyl edition, housed in a silver mirrored die-cut sleeve. File next to West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band and the like!*Insert with liner notes and photos.*Digital download card included LP $28 SKU:20958

SWEET SLAG -Tracking With Close-Ups (1969 heavy dark psych cult rarity )-Label:ACME/LION Formed in 1969, this 4-piece UK outfit went on to record one ultra collectable album in 1971 for president records. originally the album was going to be titled "guerilla jazz rock" but came to be renamed "tracking with close-ups." The band toured extensively supporting the likes of Deep Purple, Stray, Nucleus, Graham Bond, Black Cat Bones and Third Ear Band. Over the years the album has built a cult reputation with collectors. the album is certainly different to many released at that time and has a unique heavy dark psychedelic aspect running through the album, almost borders on proto-metal on several tracks, as well as some darker progressive elements and beefheart and zappa moments, making it such a unique and classic album of the time. the real deal early 70's UK underground!"Tracking with Close-ups" is impossible to find nowadays, and now, for the first time, here is the first official reissue of this superb album taken from the original master analogue tapes with printed insert containing archive band photos many previously unseen from the bands' own archives LP $23 SKU:21250
