MOTIONS - Wasted Words,The Havoc 45S(60s Dutch)- Label:PSEUDONYM RECORDS (NETHERLANDS) When The Motions crashed into the Dutch charts at the beginning of 1965 with Its Gone, they opened the floodgates for a tidal wave of young Dutch bands. Few of them, though, could match the pure excitement etched into the grooves of The Motions 1965-66 singles, featuring the definitive lineup of singer Rudy Bennett, songwriter/guitarist Robbie van Leeuwen, bass player Henk Smitskamp and drummer Sieb Warner. That magnificent procession of songs is laid out for all to hear in dynamically remastered sound on Wasted Words: The HAVOC 45s. The raw, frenetic thrash of Its Gone and We Fell In Love, vibrant, mournful laments like Ive Got Misery, For Another Man and Ill Follow The Sun, the stark socially-conscious folk-rock of Wasted Words, the explosive freakbeat of Everything Thats Mine and the sophisticated pop balladry of My Love Is Growing - all written by master songsmith (and future Shocking Blue mastermind) Robbie van Leeuwen. The latter song so impressed co-producer Scott Walker that he recorded it with the Walker Brothers. Pressed on 180 gram vinyl, Wasted Words features a top quality 350 gram carton gatefold sleeve featuring rare photos and all of the original picture sleeve artwork. LP $24 SKU:14504

NEW RIDERS OF THE PURPLE SAGE- The Adventures of Panama Red STONER ROCK)-Label:REAL GONE MUSIC If there was ever any doubt that the New Riders of the Purple Sage were the ultimate hippie country rock band -- and having had Jerry Garcia, Phil Lesh and Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead as early members meant that there wasn't much -- The Adventures of Panama Red put them to rest. This 1973 album's loosely connected tall tales of drug culture, complete with the album's underground comic book graphics, ensured that this gatefold record was a long-time dorm room favorite for separating out those stems and seeds. But Panama Red (their only gold record) had a lot more going for it than just countercultural kicks -- the band, by now consisting of John Dawson, David Nelson, Dave Torbert, pedal steel ace Buddy Cage and Jefferson Airplane drummer Spencer Dryden -- was much tighter than any outfit this stoned had a right to be, and with songwriting contributions from Peter Rowan (the hit 'Panama Red' and 'Lonesome L.A. Cowboy') and Robert Hunter ('Kick in the Head') as well as from the band's own fine tunesmiths in Dawson and Torbert, the songs were of a uniformly high quality. Production by multi-instrumentalist Norbert Putnam, charts by the Memphis Horns and vocal contributions by Buffy Sainte-Marie and Donna Godchaux helped enshrine this record as one of the finest country-rock outings of the '70s. Now, Real Gone Music is reissuing this classic album for the first time on vinyl, remastered by Vic Anesini at Battery Studios in NYC and lacquer cut by Kevin Gray, with a limited edition pressing of 1000 in -- what else? -- purple vinyl, with the original gatefold album and inner sleeve graphics (with lyrics) intact. Time to add to your stash of essential '70s vinyl!" LP $24 SKU:16793

NITE JEWEL- It Goes Through Your Head LTD ED ( 80s pop R&B STYLEP)Label:MEXICAN SUMMER 2011 repress. "The music of Ramona Gonzalez (you know her better as Nite Jewel) brings to mind the days of Teen Steam--a restless, infectious R&B beat, a voice you can sing along to, a positive outlook that sympathizes with your troubles and helps you to dance them away. With a melody like the one found on It Goes Through Your Head, you're going to find that it'll stay there as well, bridging a pop sensibility beginning with Cyndi Lauper, continuing on through '80s pop R&B like Expose and The Jets, and ending with Ms. Gonzalez's winning charm and tremendous voice. Remixes by DaM-Funk and the Samps on the flip side reinforce the inherent danceability in these exclusive tunes. Play this record, then get out, get organized and do something awesome today!" NOSTRADAMUS-Aquarium (70s Hendrix infl lost gem)Label:SHADOKS MUSIC (GERMANY) he first vinyl release of Nostradamus's Aquarium, recorded in the early '70s. At the end of the sixties, Vienna, Austria's capital, was a special place to live and to grow up. While young people in England and the USA had been nurturing their "love & peace" movement, Vienna was stuck in the past. The youth in particular suffered under heavy conservatism during those years. But it could not prevent three high school buddies from forming a band that became the seed of Nostradamus. They focused mainly on its own music but of course there were lots of influences by bands such as The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Cream, The Who, Free and later The Flock, Gentle Giant and King Crimson. Recordings were made at the Mueller and Bronner studios. Although Nostradamus received airplay and attention at the main radio stations, their producer turned down the offer to release the album on a German label. Shadoks is presenting for the first time on LP the amazing album by Nostradamus. With Mario Bottazzi and Hansi Lang on vocals, Rudy Kronfuss on guitars, Helmut Wind on bass, Hans Kalenda on drums, Heribert Wagner on violin plus others. This recording became a lost gem, full of underground vibes and very well produced. Beside Lazarus and Novaks Kapelle, this is one of the best Austrian albums. 180 gram vinyl. Comes in a heavy sleeve with a two-page insert. Edition of 500 (numbered). LP $32 SKU:17943

Drawing upon such influences as Fairport Convention, The Pentangle, King Crimson, The Incredible String Band, and Sandy Denny, the group created a stunning piece of progressive folk. Fantastic sound and recording quality, killer flute, guitar, violin, haunting vocals, and medieval atmosphere. Now digitally remastered by band member and sound engineer Jeremy Birchall, the record sounds better than ever. Includes fold-out insert with extensive liner notes and rare pictures. LP $24 SKU:16380

OS TARTAROS-The First Portuguese Surf Garage Band -Label:GROOVIE In the early 1960s, when rock n roll started dying in Portugal, a new trend was already here. Hailing from the UK and headed by Cliff Richard, fast upstaged by his supporting band The Shadows, this would be the first British Invasion. An entire generation quickly fell under its influence and all across the country dozens of bands were formed, playing rock-based guitar-driven instrumental songs with catchy tunes that were often adaptations of traditional songs. Like the Killer surf garage tune 'Tartária', maybe one the wildest surf tune record in Europe in that era. Oblivious to what was happening abroad, the Portuguese press dubbed them Shadows-influenced instrumental bands. This was the context in which Os Tártaros were formed in an Oporto garage. Featuring Joaquim Gualter on lead guitar, Alberto Abreu on rhythm guitar and keyboards, Hernâni de Melo on bass and harmonica, and Eduardo Alves on drums, the band began touring the country, performing in associations, fairs, and festivals. The early 60s explosion of Shadows-influenced bands grew substantially stronger when The Beatles came onboard and also benefited from the charitable actions of one man, Gouveia Machado, the owner of a musical instrument store who let young people pay for their guitars and drums by installments. From 1964 onwards, with the advent of new influences and instruments, hundreds of bands followed, not just in Lisbon and Oporto but all across Portugal. Some of the tracks were included in the fabulous compilations, PORTUGUESE NUGGETS, this LP is more than a anthology of all their material, its a historical document from a band that ran against their fate in a time when playing in a rock band, under the Portuguese dictatorship, was like a crime. LP $14 SKU:15532

OSIRIS- ST-insert with photos and liner notes prog psych masterpiece PINK FLOYD STYLE-Label:PHARAWAY SOUNDS Master tape sound. Includes insert with photos and liner notes.First-ever vinyl reissue of this prog/psych masterpiece by cult Arabian band Osiris, their 1982 debut album. A killer blend of '70s-sounding hard, progressive/psychedelic sounds with long, ripping Minimoog and analog synth attacks smashed into mellow vibes and Arabian folky touches, with hard lead guitar, exotic percussion, floating rhythm section, and English vocals. Osiris formed in Bahrain, the small island country in the Persian Gulf, in the late '70s, but its story goes back to 1969, when talented brothers Mohamed and Nabil Alsadeqi formed a funk rock band called Witch. The band broke up when Mohamed left to pursue his studies in Texas, while his brother Nabil left for London. Upon returning to Bahrain in 1980, the two brothers decided to form the first progressive rock band from Bahrain. It was not easy to find like-minded musicians in their town, but they succeeded, with help from Mohammed Shafii (bass), Sami Al-Jamea (keyboards), Mohamed Amin Kooheji (guitar, bass, vocals), and Abdul Razzak Aryan (keyboards). Mohamed and Nabil began working out an original repertoire that would fuse musical complexity, melodic richness, and Arab culture. They took the name "Osiris" from Egyptian mythology, not only for its sound but also for its associations with Arab culture, youth, and fertility. But the definitive Osiris line-up came up when they added a charismatic singer named Isa Janahi. Osiris made their live debut at the end of 1981. Janahi wore flashy, colored clothes and capes and captivated the audience with his presence on stage. The group also used lasers, a light show, and smoke bombs, all deftly handled by friends of the band. Osiris was recorded at the only eight-track studio in Bahrain at the time. It was recorded and mixed in just three days. As there weren't any record pressing plants in Bahrain, the band had to press the albums in the Philippines. They sold 1000 copies in Bahrain, but a few made their way to the USA and the UK, appearing in some rare records list by those in the know. Osiris will please not only those into classic prog-rock in the vein of Camel, Yes, or Pink Floyd, but also those for looking for exotic, psychedelic sounds and beats. LP $24 SKU:16868

OUBA - ST Canadian 60s acid psych rarity ( insert with photos and liners) -Label:OUT-SIDER (Spain) A Canadian rarity from 1968, recorded under the influence of hallucinogenic substances by underground musicians Michel Pagliaro, Tony Roman, Denis Lepage and Andy Shorter. The album consists of just one long freak-out jam divided in two sides. You get a raw basement sound featuring acid guitar, stoned vocals, keyboards and loud drums, similar to early Soft Machine, Pink Floyd at their most free-form phase, or Can. Comes with newly remastered sound, plus an insert with photos and liner notes. LP $22 SKU:16168

OUTSIDERS- CQ MYTHOLOGY (2LP) 60s Dutch garage ) - Label:PSEUDONYM RECORDS (NETHERLANDS) The original releases striking gatefold cover art, designed by artist Anton van der Gulik, was supposed to fold out into four rather than two panels. But apart from the album sleeve that Polydor has released, Van der Gulik made a second design. His four unused iron plate panels now house this CQ Mythology release, a sprawling double-album that stands as a kind of shadow version of the final album. Its a compelling document of a true masterwork-in-progress. LP $26 SKU:13502

OWEN MAERCKS-Teenage Sex Therapist (Colored Vinyl) Ltd ed of 500 w booklet and lyric sheet. SALE -Label:FEEDING TUBE RECORDS 2015 repress on maroon-and-red-swirl vinyl; includes booklet, lyric sheets, and download code. Edition of 500. "Owen Maercks's Teenage Sex Therapist LP is one of the forgotten twisted pop masterpieces of the Twentieth Century. Owen had been in Monster Island with Henry Kaiser, who proposed he do a solo album or his songs. Henry had moved back west by this time, so Owen went out and recorded this album there. Henry produced, and added amazing horn parts by Jon Oswald, Larry Ochs, and John Gruntfest. In 1978, the album was mixed, pressed, and distributed exclusively to radio stations, record labels, and the like, in hopes of getting Owen signed. The music didn't fit any extant pigeonhole, however, so no deal was in the offing. About the only note of its passing was made by an A&R guy at Elektra, who swiped the arrangement (and lyric rearrangement) of 'Little Black Egg' (originally by The Nightcrawlers) for use by his protégées, The Cars. Well, fuck them. Teenage Sex Therapist is ripe with jaw-drop moves. Flashes of Eno, Beefheart, Lou Reed, The Bonzos, and various of Owen's other obsessions fight each other for air time. And everyone goes away a winner. If this one doesn't make your teeth wiggle, you need a new jaw." --Byron Coley, 2014 LP $14 SKU:16551

ASKTHE CHATTER OF POP 128 pagesLabel:PAUL MORLEY SLIGHT COVER WEAR, VG+- This title collects interviews conducted by British rock critic and journalist Morley over the past seven years for London's New Musical Express. Subjects covered include Boy George, Marilyn, Ted Nugent, Sting, Duran Duran, Alice Cooper, Phil Collins, Lou Reed, Meatloaf, Quentin Crisp, Grace Jones, Iron Maiden, Wham!, Jim Kerr, Iggy Pop and Gary Glitter, and every other page carries short interviews with Jerry Garcia, Mick Jagger, Clash, Adam Ant and others. Morley maintains that rock superstars have passed from individualism to invisibility: "Once they threatened to flood the world with strangeness, now they just wave to the crowds." Often raising the ire of performers accustomed to idolatrous articles and fluff interviews, Morley instead puts his subjects through intense confrontation. ("Your music is trite and cosy.") In addition to examining the effect of pop journalism on the public perception of pop stars, he also uses William Burroughs-like cut-up techniques in a way that adds to this book's pungent flavor. From a baby-faced Nick Cave and The Birthday Party, and fledgling legends, the Cramps, to Los Angeles’ beloved X, and the wonderfully loud and rude of many varieties, this book is a delightful romp through the devil’s playground, with in-your-face concert shots, candid moments with no less than Joan Jett and Blondie, along with brilliant album covers, like the Cramps’ Songs the Lord Taught Us.One of the best rock photographers of his generation, David Arnoff has been described by Lydia Lunch as a “A renegade misfit from the Rust Belt shooting outcasts who congregate from one ghetto to the next in search of other miscreants to make mischief with.” This strictly limited edition of 1500 hardcover (faux-leather bound and embossed hardcover) collects for the first time over 150 of Arnoff’s raw black-and-white photographs and vividly captures the dirt, sweat, altered states and “ungodly sounds” of some of rock’s most potent players. Shot in the Dark collects the cream of the crop, both classic & previously unpublished. It is 186 heavyweight pages of in-your-face concert shots & intimate portraits all in one big volume. Volume – as in LOUD. This deluxe package is supplemented by personal insights and eye-witness accounts from many of the prime suspects including Motorhead, Nick Cave, X, Jayne/Wayne County, Walter Lure, & the Dead Boys, plus a new conversation between Arnoff and Lydia Lunch BOOKS & MAGS $40 SKU:18285

ALGO SALVAJE - Untamed 60's Beat and Garage(SPANISH NUGGETS! )Vol. 1 SALE DBL LP -Label:MUNSTER Double LP version. Internationally labeled as "nuggets" (after the original compilation of the same name concocted by Jac Holzman and Lenny Kaye in 1972 for the Elektra label), the more common garage rock label has been used to place and describe one of the most fertile chapters of rock & roll history during its most creative years. An underground story which has luckily become known, with participants from all around the globe, which included anonymous musicians, independent record labels with impossible names, and ridiculously limited pressings, often not more than a few hundred copies. Much more important and influential than its level of exposure would suggest, this nuggets-type of music was insolent, proud and self-taught. The trigger of the phenomenon was, without a doubt, the concluding British Invasion to the U.S., which started in 1964: that collective youthful glare provoked by an unprecedented music event in which a number of English bands took up American music and regenerated it in their own personal way. All of them managed to open a big crack in the comfortable status of early '60s rock through which garage rock, in an incredible game of fascination and rage, started to pour freely. This new music, drawing from beat, rhythm & blues and the new psychedelic nuances that already flew over the rock scene, emerged gloriously as a coarse creature. Question Mark, The 13th Floor Elevators, The Remains, The Chocolate Watchband, Electric Prunes, The Seeds, The Standells, Kenny & The Casuals, The Sonics, Music Machine -- and hundreds more bands. They led the American answer to the British bands and they all reached truly fantastic heights, although any list of great names will be insufficient and unfair. Dazzled by that blinding light, thousands of bands appeared from all over the world, including Spain, of course. Few of the expected obstacles derived from the political and social situation in Spain under Franco seemed to matter to these bands. At their own pace and in their own way, and almost at the same time that it was happening on the other side of the Atlantic, the Spanish nuggets got into action and moved from the village music band to the yeh-yeh group. The cleverest teenagers noticed that there was something new in the air, and realized that such intoxicating music enabled them to display attitudes and words which didn't have any other way out in that anomalous society. The breeding ground was usually small labels and sometimes, not often, the bigger imprints would dare take a chance. In both cases, the nuggets-type tracks were always on the B-side of singles and EPs. It's worth it to note the unusual case of Los Brincos and their Beatlesque and thunderous debut "Dance the Pulga," a visionary piece which started the genre in 1964 with all the honors, and whose second 7", Flamenco, introduced one of the key contributions of Spanish garage: noisy approximations or versions of copla and flamenco songs. It was an obligatory and respectable settling of scores with genres of music that were tied to the past and to a model of authoritarian family whose foundations were starting to crack. And although the dotted map of the most prolific areas points towards the tourist sites of the Mediterranean coast, it was actually a global phenomenon which took place in any part of Spain. Coming, most of them, from a middle class background which was starting to consolidate, Spanish teenagers from the '60s employed the same musical models as their foreign colleagues, but their contribution was not only exemplary in many cases, but also specifically genuine. These Spanish Nuggets, an eternal unfinished business of our musical heritage waiting to be reissued, are finally celebrated here on this first volume of Algo Salvaje. Includes extensive notes by Vicente Fabuel, featuring all the original record sleeves and artist photos. COMP LP $22 SKU:16187

ALIVE AT THE DEEP BLUES FESTIVAL - BBQ SAUCE RED VINYL LTD. to 400 copies W Radio Moscow, Left Lane Cruiser , John the Conqueror and more. Label:ALIVE Color vinyl is exclusive to Bomp w/ download card (30 minutes of additional music) Alive At The Deep Blues Fest recaptures the loose and -spontaneous feel of live albums produced in the Golden Age of rock’n’roll.

The album was recorded live this summer at the Deep Blues Festival during three glorious (sold-out) days of great music, Southern-style BBQ and camaraderie between musicians, fans and friends alike, far from the corporate sterility of many larger modern music fests. Chris Johnson’s festival successfully revived the communal spirit of late ‘60s and early ‘70s music gatherings, evoking the vibe of a large summer picnic with family, friends, good food and great music.

BUFFALO KILLERS and RADIO MOSCOW turned in super heavy sets soaked in psychedelia and reverb, while LEE BAINS III & The GLORY FIRES fiercely ripped through their show with a blistering set of songs steeped in Southern rock, R&B, soul, gospel and punk. BRIAN OLIVE and his backing band melded soulful R&B with technicolor garage-pop for their early daytime set, while HENRY’S FUNERAL SHOE (the Welsh duo), LEFT LANE CRUISER and newcomers JOHN THE CONQUEROR perhaps kept closest to the Deep Blues curriculum with their respectively raunchy and heavily amplified modern interpretations of rural gutbucket Delta Blues.Grab a copy of Alive At The Deep Blues Fest, invite a bunch of good friends over for some food & drink, and PLAY IT LOUD!

King Of Power Pop! is a complete return to his roots, to power pop, the sound he helped create and popularize, a sound that has seen a resurgence in recent years, a sound that is here to stay! The album includes 11 new songs, one new recording of the Breakaways classic "Many Roads To Follows" (the demo version featuring Peter Case can be found on the Breakaways release "Walking Out On Love"), and two covers, for a total of 13 great high-energy power pop songs. NOTE - LP does not contain download card, add the cd for a lo price! Formed in 1975 by guitarist JACK LEE, bassist PETER CASE, and drummer PAUL COLLINS, the Nerves are one of the most influential garage/punk pop outfits to come out of the mid-70's LA scene, and certainly one of the least documented... until now. Mostly remembered for their classic "Hanging On The Telephone," a Jack Lee composition which has been covered over the years by a myriad of artists from BLONDIE to L7 to CAT POWER, the Nerves were above all a high energy rock'n'roll band with all three members composing and singing. Playing fast, ear-catching garage pop songs, sometimes wearing matching suits, the trio had more than a bit of the stripped down street energy of the Los Angeles's early punk movement. They shared the stage with the Ramones and Mink Deville during their infamous US "Magical Blistering Tour," played the Punk Palace and the legendary Masque in Hollywood, and headlined shows with the Avengers, the Zeros, The Dils, The Screamers and Shock, to name just a few. After the band's break-up in 1978, Peter Case and Paul Collins formed The BREAKAWAYS, and later went on to front the legendary PLIMSOULS and The BEAT, respectively. Following the success of "Hanging On the Telephone," JACK LEE has mostly focused on his songwriting career, releasing an album in 1981. Both Peter and Paul are still recording and touring. PETER CASE's latest album "Let Us Now Praise Sleepy John" (Yeproc 2007) was nominated for a Grammy. This collection, authorized for the first time ever by the three band members, features their 1976 EP (now regarded as a power pop classic), as well as demos and previously unreleased live recordings, REMASTERED and complete with notes and photos. WEIRDOS - Destroy All Music - 30th Anniversary Edition -Label:BOMP The Weirdos were in many ways the greatest of L.A.'s punk bands. In early 1977 their mighty sound and singular style were the big-bang igniting the L.A. punk rock scene, as they proclaimed "we're not punks, we're weirdos from Hollyweird!". This wasn't just goofy sloganeering, this was a stance intended to distinguish them from the burgeoning punk rock scenes in New York and London. The Weirdos were not only bringing a new sound and writing teen punks anthems, they were also responsible for their graphics (posters, covers, flyers) and designed their own clothes! Their 1977 Bomp single "Destroy All Music" was a nihilistic anthem, and is now regarded as a classic, and by the time they made their mini-LP two years later they had turned into a powerful, polished band, without losing any of their outrageous attitude. "Destroy All Music - 30th Anniversary Edition " compiles the now classic 1977 EP Bomp and the 1979 "Who, What, When, Where, Why?" mini-LP in its entirety and includes previously unreleased early demos. Comes with a 12 page booklet with photos and liner notes. CD $5 SKU:6870
