EXPLOSIVES - Come Clean PLUS 3 -Label:MUNSTER Austin's The Explosives (who would go on to be Roky Erickson's backing band) lived up to their name in the late '70s and early '80s, packing more power than their so-called punk rock peers. That's because they were not actually punk rockers themselves. Like Elvis Costello (saddled with the same inappropriate tag at the time), they played something that had been out of fashion for a while: music of rhythm with a jangly melody; something called "rock and roll." This is a facsimile reissue of their blasting 1979 debut. 45 RPM $6 SKU:16493

EYES, THE -TAQN Label:MUNSTER RECORDS (SPAIN) "About this time, maybe late 1978, I joined this band called the Eyes. Charlotte Caffey had been playing bass and I think keyboards and stuff. She left to go form the Go-Go's. As a matter of fact, Belinda Carlisle and Jane Wiedlin got their first actual stage experience as members of Randy's Blackettes . . . I know this, I remember this, I have photos to prove it. . . . Joe Ramirez, the leader of the Eyes, was a cerebral master of the unexpected lyric in front of the musical conventions of punk rock. His musical concept fit into the Wire keep-'em-coming-too-fast-to-know groove, and the lyrics he wrote with John Richey were way over most people's heads." --David Brown 45 RPM $10 SKU:17608

Celebrity endorsement by MICHAEL LUCAS. 45 RPM $6 SKU:14822

FUSION FARM- Rush Job ( 1971 Stooges-like psych)-Label:SHADOKS MUSIC (GERMANY) Shadoks Music present a reissue of Fusion Farm's Rush Job, originally released in 1971. After many years of trying to locate the band to properly reissue Rush Job, a daughter of one of the band members coincidentally found Shadoks through social media. The album originally was very limited release on the S.R.T label with a hand-sprayed cover, very much like Tony Caro & John's All On The First Day (1972). Originals are very rare, fetching high prices on the collectors market. This reissue includes tracks from the rare 1974 single Fat Judy/Gypsy Mountain Woman. Fusion Farm got radio play and played a lot of shows in London and the surrounding cities before heading off to Europe to gig constantly. Germany became a second home, in particular Frankfurt and Munich and they found favor playing at many US army air bases. Fusion Farm played the Frankfurt Festhalle, with a 15,000 capacity, supporting Bad Company and Black Oak Arkansas. This show is infamous because Black Oak Arkansas never showed up and a riot ensued, leaving the venue trashed. The band changed personnel several times but the core of the band and song-writing team of Bob Bett and Normal Ley remained constant. The band split in 1979 to pursue other projects. Rush Job includes snotty, Stooges-like psych songs, with great guitars, drums, cool vocals and bass. Some tracks are dreamy and some are very powerful British underground tunes. CD $16 SKU:18215

MASON - Harbour (Smokin' heavy rock ‘71)-Label:OUT-SIDER (Spain) Smokin' heavy rock with an early progressive sound and overtones of folk and blues from Virginia, 1971. Originally released on the Eleventh Hour label, which also released Polyphony's Without Introduction (OSR 024LP, 1971). Powerful vocals, loud guitar, flute, and killer Hammond organ -- think Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, Grand Funk... Master tape sound; includes repro of the original multi-page insert plus liner notes. "This is an interesting and diverse hard-rock album. If you can picture slow, organ-rich heavy prog, jazzy sax instrumentals, and snappy riff rockers, you'll have an idea of what you're in store for there. There's an air of professionalism usually absent from this kind of self-made records. 'Tell Me' has a fuzz guitar tone to die for." --Aaron Milenski, The Acid Archives LP $22 SKU:17119

MAY BLITZ - ESSEN 1970-rare 70s Pink Floyd style psych - Label:GARDEN OF DELIGHT Comes in deluxe gatefold cover. The 8-page insert in LP size contains a long band history in German and English, a detailed discography, numerous cover and label repros, as well as a personal retrospective report by guitarist and singer James Black.
May Blitz have been compared to Led Zeppelin, the early Black Sabbath, or early Uriah Heep—the only difference being that May Blitz never had their great breakthrough. Their history ended after only two LPs which are today in high demand. On Tuesday, 22nd October 1970, the group performed in the Gruga Hall at the third Essen Pop & Blues Festival. The event was recorded semi-professionally by the promoters. The recordings were mastered in a first-class sound studio with great effort and care. The sound, however, is naturally not as good as that of the two studio LPs. Comes in deluxe gatefold cover. The 8-page insert in LP size contains a long band history in German and English, a detailed discography, numerous cover and label repros, as well as a personal retrospective report by guitarist and singer James Black. A must for collectors. It is the first legitimate release of a May Blitz live recording. LP $24 SKU:18028

MAYER, NATHANIEL- Why Won't You Let Me Be Black ( BLUE VINYL, LIMITED to 800 ) with the BLACK KEYS - Label:ALIVE Nathaniel Mayer (1944-2008) was one of the all-time great soul singers. His 1962 record "Village of Love" made him a star, and he inspired several generations of musicians, especially in his hometown of Detroit. Nathaniel's last sessions took place during two long summer days and nights of intense jamming, writing, and recording. "Why Don't You Give It To Me?" was the first installment of these recordings to be unleashed. Now, here at last, is a second volume of Nathaniel Mayer having a blast with the assistance of members of the BLACK KEYS, SSM, OUTRAGEOUS CHERRY and the DIRTBOMBS. The two acoustic performances are from a 2007 radio interview, Nathaniel's only known "unplugged" performance. About the title: It has to do with the food he kept being served while on tour in Europe. When Nate finally became frustrated with the countless plates of cheese and French bread that awaited him backstage at every gig, he shouted "Why Won't You Let Me Be Black?". He agreed that it sounded like a good title for his next album. - Matthew Smith (Outrageous Cherry). The 1st VINYL PRESSING is on BLUE VINYL, LIMITED to 800 COPIES. LP $16 SKU:10485

"That three successful contemporary rock'n'rollers should have sought out and championed such a lost hero is heroic in itself, and Dan Auerbach, Troy and - most especially - Matthew Smith should be praised to the skies. That the chosen artist should rise to the occasion in such a manner is even more thrilling, which is why I say to Nathaniel Mayer: 'Bravo, Lord Motherf-cker, and deep gratitude for laying this Righteous Thang upon us.' Amen" - Julian Cope LP $16 SKU:10621

If you've been looking for an LP to file next to your Public Nuisance and Morgen LPs, then this is your tonic. The stature of Maypole has been muddied by the previous CD reissues, but this LP edition gets it right. , This is the closest to 'classic psychedelia' Anopheles Records has delved in to date. MCKAY- Into You ( STONER ROCK- One of the holy grails of 70s Indianapolis private-pressdom w Updated liner notes and exactly-transcribed lyrics. ) -Label:LION One of the "holy grails" of Indianapolis private-pressdom (surpassed only by Zerfas and Anonymous) available again in its original format! Ray "McKay" Pierle and his musically-adept brothers and friends partied, jammed and partied some more on Indy's south side throughout the mid-70's, forming a band (Loos) which managed to garner zero media attention at the time. However, Ray's trusty Teac four-track was always close at hand and countless hours of home recordings were induced onto magnetic tape, as well as a few songs laid down at a local studio. After a brief hiatus, the core members reconvened as McKay, and created their sole document, the 300-press "Into You" album (1978); the LP was given to friends and family and consigned in nearby record shoppes. A mere 15 years had to pass before the collecting world discovered the highly-personal songwriting, tight playing, and not-so-well-hidden West-Coast stylistic touches. A vinyl reissue was locally produced back then but it's long gone, so here's a new all analogue, master tape edition for a new generation to savor. •All-analogue pressing, cut directly from the original master tapes. •Licensed from Ray Pierle with his full cooperation and support. •Updated liner notes and exactly-transcribed lyrics. LP $19 SKU:16350

MERRELL FANKHAUSER - a.k.a The Maui Album (1968 POP PSYCH WONDER ) - Label:OUT-SIDER (Spain) After his stint with Fapardokly, HMS Bounty and MU, Merrell Fankauser released his first solo album in 1976. Comprised of songs written a year earlier while Merrell and violin player Mary Lee were living in the jungle of Maui, this is a brilliant set of spiritual folk-rock and 70s orchestrated SSW light-pop The album was recorded at various Hollywood studios, initially sponsored by a producer from George Harrison’s Dark Horse label. In fact Harrison was so impressed with Merrell’s songs that he expressed interest in playing slide guitar on “Our Way To Hana”. Sadly, due to internal problems, Dark Horse backed off and Merrell found himself without a label to release the album. Finally, a couple of friends from Maui released it on the small Maui Music label. On the recordings, Merrell and Mary Lee were joined by several studio musicians, among them, drummer Bill Berg, who had played on Bob Dylan’s “Blood On The Tracks”. First ever vinyl reissue with tracks restored to their original running order and original artwork. Insert with in-depth liner notes by Jeremy Cargill (Ugly Things, Got Kinda Lost), presenting the most complete written story about Merrell’s musical career. "... It stands as a lost classic in Fankhauser's prolific catalog of work." – Jeremy Cargill (Ugly Things, Got Kinda Lost); “…Great melodic ‘70s psych. Merrell is joined by female violinist Mary Lee; she also was part of the earlier MU scene and lived with Merrell in a Maui jungle hut…– - Patrick Lundborg (Acid Archives) LP $25 SKU:16714

MISTY HUSH REVIVAL - Your Heart Is Broken (obscure 60s ) SAALE insert with rare pictures, liners, 180 gram - Label:GUERSSEN RECORDS (SPAIN) First time ever reissue, remastered from 24-bit files, original artwork, insert with rare pictures and liner notes by Jack D. Fleischer.”One of the most obscure US private pressings from the late 60s / early 70s.For many years, The Misty Hush Revival name was only a rumor whispered in collector's circles, with only a handful copies known of the original album. Like The Bach’s or The Index, this is one of those hard to describe albums which seem to live in a world of their own. Despite the late '72 release date, the music here sounds more late 60s than early 70s and the whole album has a cool, lost-in-time atmosphere. The group were in fact a club band from New Jersey but surprisingly all the tracks are originals, no cover versions, and they range from fragile, dreamy pop-psych numbers to raw garage, fuzzed-out jams and teen-beat sounds. As Patrick Lundborg says in Acid Archives: "A cool, atmospheric trip for fans of the tri-state late '60s club sound" First time ever reissue, remastered from 24-bit files, original artwork, insert with rare pictures and liner notes by Jack D. Fleischer.” LP $22 SKU:13922

MOCKERS, LOS - ST (60s Uruguay garage) 180 gram- Label:VINILISSSIMO (Spain) Maybe if they had come from an English-speaking country, their name would now be among the greats of the '60s. At least, their career would have lasted longer instead of being truncated at their peak. But Los Mockers were from Uruguay and during their short life as a band, they never got beyond Río de la Plata. Their story begins at a high school in Montevideo, where three of the future Mockers were students. Aged 16, they started playing covers of Mexico's Teen Tops, The Shadows and Trini López and soon they were writing their own songs. Their upright bass was borrowed and their Spanish guitar was plugged into a radio they moved from electric guitar and bass, handmade by the guitarist's father, who was a carpenter. The primitive drum kit was finally completed and they even managed to get hold of a rudimentary Hammond organ. At the time they were called Los Encadenados and under that name they recorded their first demos, sung in Spanish. In 1964, the British Invasion shook the world. Los Encadenados also covered some Beatles songs, but they were still searching for their own identity through rougher and less-trodden paths. What really influenced their style were the first Rolling Stones records -- a little more rugged, but with a rebellious energy that electrified the whole band at once. Soon after, they found other sources of inspiration, such as The Animals. It was what they were looking for: the wild force of rhythm and blues. Montevideo got hip in the summer of 1965 and venues like La Cueva opened up, where the band performed often. Most weekends they played at student parties and they also appeared live on TV regularly. The band was growing and writing their first songs in English. It was the moment to take one step forward and choose a new name that reflected the music they were making. The fights between mods and rockers in England gave them the idea: from then on they would be known as Los Mockers. They were 18 and 19 years old. 1966 was the band's most prolific year. Then based in Argentina, after a few months they were playing regularly at venues such as Whisky a Go-Go and on TV. That year they released their first single and only LP, although they didn't achieve major success. They had a good number of loyal fans, but their music was too strange for a wider audience. A planned second LP was never completed as the band, unable to make a living in Argentina, went back to Uruguay, discouraged, in 1967. Although their comeback was welcomed enthusiastically, new tour plans fell through and they split up soon after. Remastered from the original stereo recordings. On 180 gram vinyl. LP $18 SKU:14637

From deep in the cosmos of Iowa, this psychedelic outfit has created a strange brew of garage, psych, space, sludge and stoner rock. "New Rituals," their debut for Alive, is an incursion into extended psychedelic blues guitar jams and haunting vocals over heavy, steady bass lines and thumping percussion. Mondo Drag has shared the stage with bands such as Witchcraft, Dead Meadow, Pentagram, and Radio Moscow, to name just a few. "They rock. Most songs clock in at over 6 minutes, yet you don't notice the time go by because they seem to take that long just to rev up. Each song stretches, cries, screams, and tears itself apart." - Berkeley Place LP $16 SKU:14388
