RESTOCKS AND SAALE

ACROSS THE WATER-ST (1975 prog rock rarity)Label:SEELIE COURT 380 copy limited edition first pressings in mini card gatefold sleeves, from Glass Masters (not cdrs)This totally unknown album from 1975 was recorded in the UK by two close friends. Both of them recorded one side of the album, which originally only existed on two acetate records. It contains epic neo classical prog rock in the style of Renaissance and Continuum, inspired by the wild and pagan isles of St Kilda. The second part of the album has intense Cohen-like songs which were the result of the heartaches and homesickness of a Canadian student who went to university in the UK. CD $19 SKU:24809

APHRODITE'S CHILD - It’s Five O Clock (1969 pop psych)Label:WORLD PSYCHEDELIA (Korea) The first single, ‘Let Me Love, Let Me Live,’ released in October 1969, made it to a number one position in the French charts, but it was the B-side ‘Marie Jolie’ that was most popular in the rest of Europe. The title track ‘It's Five O'clock’ quickly followed the same path; released in December 1969, it did well in the charts of many European countries. Dream-like, baroque, carefully crafted pop/psych with English lyrics, in some ways very much in the style of English bands of the era, but with that little twist that makes it very special; three bonus tracks include rare singles; lyrics and photos too in the 16-page booklet. CD $10 SKU:18951

BEAT BOYS - ST (Brazilian 60s pop-psych ,20 page booklet and rare singles track) - Label:LION Laden with torrid psychedelic moments (released by RCA Victor in 1968), as well as a rare singles track from the same year. A 20-page booklet includes lyrics, and an exploration of the Beat Boys’ fascinating story. .Along with Os Mutantes, the Beat Boys represented the most radical element in Brazilian rock: their name, clothes, hair—and intense fuzz guitar raves—were all fierce indicators of a rebel spirit, and this in a dangerous time for such self-expression. Here is the simple truth: The Beat Boys were at the very epicenter of the cultural revolution that convulsed Brazil during the late 1960’s, that movement of rupture, that bringing together of electricity and avant-garde erudition that has come to be known as “Tropicália.” They backed Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil for their defining moments as artists—both live, and in the studio on tracks which became the opening Tropicalist salvo (a rare EP). So, what were this group of Argentine rock musicians doing in the forefront of all things outrageous in Brazil? More to the point, why is it that very few people, even among the Brazilian music cognoscenti, have ever heard of them? One explanation must be the fact that the band were essentially outsiders to the Brazilian music scene. As unlikely as it was for them to penetrate the inner circles of Brazilian elite musicians (it was unlikely), it was even more unlikely that they would remain there once their closest friends, Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil, were exiled from Brazil. This disc includes the Beat Boys entire output under their own name: their sole album—an exercise in what one might call “controlled Tropicália”,“Caetano called the Beat Boys, an Argentinean group settled in São Paulo who had been inspired by the Beatles, to accompany him in ‘Alegria, Alegria.’ That, in fact marked the beginning of the Tropicalista thing.” —Gilberto Gil CD $12 SKU:23494

BERTIE - Algy Lord Gray (1970 Kinks influenced)-Label:SEELIE COURT A mad Kinks-influenced underground progressive masterpiece. It's as if Noel Coward, Hawkwind, The Incredible String Band, Neu, The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band and The Kinks were scrambled together in a disastrous Star Trek teleportation accident. In 1970 the Berties took over a crumbling mansion in the wilds of Wales, made this album, sent it to John Peel, and never left. They remain in Wales to this day. 'Algy Lord Grey' is a deranged subversive and witty concept album about a man's descent into ruin. CD $19 SKU:24801

BODO MOLITOR- Hits Internacionales (ultra-rare 60s Mexican psych holy grail for collectors paper-sleeve mini-LP replica. ) -Label:VAM MEXICO Official master-tape reissue of this ultra-rare Mexican garage psych record that's a holy grail for collectors. Globe-trotting artist Bodo Molitor may have been born in Germany, but he’ll forever be associated with the psychedelic scene in Mexico. In addition to creating the zoomorphic art for his own bizarre album, he also created the psychedelic art for the Kaleidoscope album, for La Libre Expresion, and for his brother Reinhold’s solo album. As for “Hits Internacionales”, it has all the ambience and psychedelic delirium of the time, full of devastating fuzz and wacked out rhythms. And then there is Bodo’s raspy and savage voice. Impressive. As Antonio Malcara says in his book "Catologo subjetivo y segregacionista del Rock Mexicano", this LP and that of Kaleidoscope are the two most important and representative pieces of Mexican garage rock-psychedelia. Collectors offer thousands of dollars to be able to get an original copy of “Hits Internacionales” in good condition CD $8 SKU:15120

BROWN, STEVE -BAND- SOUL FULL OF SIN (obscure 70s jazz rock) Label:SEELIE COURT 380 copy limited edition first pressings in mini card gatefold sleeves, from Glass Masters (not cdrs)Steve Brown formed this outfit in 1971, and they quickly developed a tight style of cool but potent jazz rock, characterised by lengthy powerful instrumental breaks and sax, and infectious beats. An obscure band that has been garnering a massive live following in their native Newcastle area during the early to mid seventies. CD $20 SKU:24922

BULLDOG BREED - Made in England ( 60s UK psych )w bonus tracs NEW LO PRICE -Label:UK LION Orig. rel. in 1969 on Deram. Official rel. of one of the best late 60’s UK sike lp’s. w. members of PLEASE, NEON PEARL and the FLIES. Original stereo master tapes. BUTTERSPRITES- ST (JAPANESE GIRL GARAGE)-Label:Dionysus Pan-Asian in a volcanic, Pacific Rim kinda way, the Buttersprites draw energy from downtown Tokyo, mossy Seattle pubs, cartoon monsters, and some glamorous parallel universe of glitter, cherry blossoms, and ersatz nurse uniforms. They are fierce, fun, fabulous, and now-y. Their simple and charming sound is like a soundtrack from eighties independent flick, sometimes sweet and sometimes punky, in Japanese and English lyrics. CD $5 SKU:18956

BWANA- ST(1970 funk/psych rare-groove)Label:ACID SYMPOSIUM (Greece) YIKES! Cover way too controversial to show. Didnt know about it or i might not have ordered it. Google if you want.Reappearance on CD (with tasteless original cover art intact) of fantastic latin funk/psych rare-groove special from around 1970; as latin mavens Dusty Groove say, it’s “an insanely wonderful bit of Latin funk! The groove is super heavy, and falls somewhere in between NuYorican soul and Chicano Power rock—with a sound that's pretty close to Black Sugar, but a little bit more psychedelic, due to the heavy guitars and keyboards in the grooves. Hard congas take the lead on most of the tracks—especially the cut ‘Chapumbambe’, which starts with a nice breakbeat.” We say: astral-planar Latin jams, with blazing guitar and organ, laid down over hot funk/psych grooves; leads off with the eight-minute runaway train 'Tema de Bwana'; what's next, you wonder? why it's the intricate twin-guitar progressive call and response jam of 'La Patada'; the rest gets better from there, with songs that shift and flow until they hit an acid freakout point—check out the end of 'Chapumbambe', or the second half of the thirteen-plus minute soul/psych style rave up 'Lolita' that closes the album. CD $10 SKU:19051

CROOKED OAK -FROM LITTLE ACORNS GROW(reissue of rare 1976 release)-Label:SEELIE COURT 380 copy limited edition first pressings in mini card gatefold sleeves, from Glass Masters (not cdrs)Crooked Oak is one of the very few folk bands who imbued their songs with mystery, power and grandeur. The combination of Steve Evans' sonorous voice and haunting Irish pipes convert the songs into a beautiful mystical experience. So to describe Crooked Oak as 'acid folk' would be misleading, instead it is a deep, profound work of art, lifted by superb vocals and wrapped in a sense of mystery. The band channel the music, tradition, heritage, and the magic that still courses through Sainted Albion's blood soaked lands. Originally released in 1976. CD $19 SKU:24802

ELEGY -ST (1972 prog monster)Label:SEELIE COURT 380 copy limited edition first pressings in mini card gatefold sleeves, from Glass Masters (not cdrs)
Lost 1972 heavy prog monster by British band who became the house band in Vienna's underground music club Electronic. With a sound like Jethro Tull meets Marsupilami vibes with manic flute and heavy prog guitar, and at times a King Crimson intensity. CD $19 SKU:24803

EMMANUELLE PARRENIN- Maison Rose (60s hippie folk) -Label:LION We begin by saying that this is an album unlike any other. A bold statement, perhaps. Yet look in the "Scented Gardens of the Mind" book and you will see this description: "a revelation of a folk album, with songs of incredible beauty and innovative arrangements. It features traditional instruments you’ve hardly ever heard before and touches of the avant-garde. Play this album directly after that of another randomly chosen female folk album, and you will notice the difference! This is one of the best!" Parrenin had been part of a traditional "antique folk" movement in France in the late 1960’s (she was in many ways a French equivalent to Sandy Denny or Mandy Morton); indeed, she had recorded eight albums with musicians from this scene before "Maison Rose"—her best, and last album, recorded in 1976 and released the following year. The record seems to alternate between a cosmic take on an ancient Breton sound, and delicate, multi-tracked ballads—ranging from sounds that would not be out of place on an Ash Ra Tempel album to elements of traditional French folk music (including home-made instruments) that are just as exotic. Certainly, the avant-garde edge lurking beneath the simple folkiness of "Maison Rose" puts in mind the explorations of Brigitte Fontaine with her sometime musical voyager Areski; there are also suggestions of the pastoral caranavserai aesthetic of Vashti Bunyan, as well as the multi-track sensuality of Linda Perhacs (to name two much-touted singers who seem to have a similar ability to enchant). But Parrenin has her own style, her music has its own deeply ethereal quality, and the album itself has its own magic spell to cast that renders comparison with other albums unimportant in the end. Magnificent… CD $10 SKU:20095

FLAMES - “Ummm! Ummm! Oh Yeah” + “That’s Enough” (DBL CD - Label:FRESH Throughout the '60s The Flames—featuring future Beach Boy Ricky Fataar along with his brothers Steve Fataar, Brother Fataar and Edries Fredericks— were South Africa's biggest selling band. This double disc set highlights the band's many hits from 1964 to 1966 and includes the "Ummm! Ummm! Oh Yeah" and "That's Enough" albums on Disc 1, and 16 non-album A & B sides singles on Disc 2. This release is a companion to the Retro best selling "Soulfire"/"Burning Soul" reissue. The “Ummm” album (1965) has some nice covers includes two Beatles tracks (‘No Reply’ and ‘Eight Days a Week’), a nice version of ‘You Better Move On,’ and ‘Talkin' Bout You,’ and several others. You have to admire a band like The Flames. An exceptionally talented outfit, the fact they were a non-white group (most of the members were of East Indian extraction), trying to make the big time in apartheid-era South Africa makes them even more special. Records by The Flames are highly collectable, not least because two of their members, Ricky Fataar and Blondie Chaplin, joined The Beach Boys from 1971 to 1973, during which time the albums ‘So Tough’, ‘Holland’ and ‘In Concert’ were made and released CD $16 SKU:19983

GIMMIES -PHONIC SOULS (STOOGES/MC5 style garage)Label:DIONYSUS THE GIMMIES are rock action personified with screaming guitars that tap into the Detroit tradition of the Stooges & MC5 and matched by a cockiness that would put The Pretty Things to shame. Combined with their love of Australian garage rock and their English-as-a-second-language-lyrics, they twist rock music into shrapnel only matched by their Japanese brethren Guitar Wolf, Teengenerate and the King Brothers. CD $5 SKU:18914

HELLMET-Judgement Day !! (legendary 1970 proto metal)Label:SEELIE COURT Thought to be lost forever, Hellmet's legendary 1970 LP is the proto-metal find of the century. Long rumoured to exist amongst hardcore prog collectors, it used to be considered as the missing VO5 Vertigo cata!ogue number. In 1970, two acetates were cut at Oak studios (a 12” and a 7”) and then promptly lost, and those who knew of its rumoured existence decided it was mere myth or permanently lost or destroyed. But in 2021, this doom-laden metal psych masterpiece finally emerges from the Stygian depths of prog legend. Hellmet's sole lp is the ultimate incarnation of Leviathan and the Mike Stuart Span, and on this record, they hit a peak — almost like a raw undergound Led Zep 1 with elements of Cream. Hellmet's sound is characterised by a howling lead guitar tonally similar to High Tide but played in a heavy blues psych style; at times Steve Day appears to be wrestling a demonically possessed lead into submission. Three tracks are classic heavy prog proto-metal, then ‘Trust' gets into 'Dazed and Confused’ territory with its violent tale of resisting torture under the Inquisition; the dark epic 'Judgement Day' closes side one, a tale of heroin addiction and facing one's maker in an inevitable slide towards alienation and death. The LP benefits from repeat playing: it is heavy, but also deep, and has a vibe that combines anger with melancholia. A significant and historic find, if you ache for more true vintage Heavy Prog.
Cover reproduces an orig sketch for the planned 1970 lp CD $19 SKU:24714

HUNT & TURNER- Magic Landscape (1972 West Coast groove)-Label:LION Fabulous grooving folk rock sounds with plenty of atmosphere, first released by the much beloved Village Thing label in 1972. Ian Hunt and John Turner first teamed-up in the late summer of 1970, the inevitable collaboration of two of the West Country's most sought-after session musicians. CD $10 SKU:20171

I DELFINI - ST (1966 Italian beat) -Label:WORLD PSYCHEDELIA Maybe the best beat album to emerge Italy, first issued on Disco CDB in 1966 (?) or 1967; I Delfini (or, "The Dolphins" as it translates) made a pretty good splash in their day, and why not? the lads from Padua wrote tight, punchy songs, had good production values (RCA studios), could sing (always a plus), and threw in a Beatles cover at the end in English, just for kicks; lyrics and band photos in 8-page booklet are great (but where's a band history?). A strong album for beat music lovers CD $10 SKU:20152

ISOLATION -ST (UK private press 70s prog)Label:SEELIE COURT 380 copy limited edition first pressings in mini card gatefold sleeves, from Glass Masters (not cdrs)
One of England's rarest privately pressed progressive LPs, Isolation is barely known and generally misunderstood. It's a concept LP tackling the sense of loneliness and loss after the breakup of a relationship, and was performed with an accompanying experimental film. The LP has fantastic compositions of melodic progressive rock CD $19 SKU:24808

JAMES, BARNEY-& WARHORSE-- KONEG, THE SECOND COMING-Label:SEELIE COURT Recorded in 1975 with support from his entire band Warhorse, this heavy progressive concept solo-album by drummer Barney James wasn't released back in the day. MANDALA - Soul Crusade (1966 heavy soul psych) Label:PACEMAKER “Soul Crusade” LP was released in 1968 and happened to be the first and only album by MANDALA. It presented a bunch of original songs with rich, gorgeous and quite heavy arrangements built around solid beat grooves, blistering guitar riffing, and powerful Hammond-organ chords. The vocal duties were taken over by Ray Kenner who had powerful, soulful, and charismatic voice. Stylistically, Mandala were one of those hard rockin’ bands who performed original Psychedelic Art-Rock with strong influences from Soul, Funk, and Rhythm-N-Blues music. MOTHERS ANGER-ST -(SEATTLE PSYCH) PROD BY MICHAEL DAVIS MC5-Label:DIONYSUS The Mother's Anger is a two-piece psychedelic punk band from Seattle, WA that incorporates Middle-Eastern melodies and Drum n' Bass rhythms into a heavy, danceable, dream-like adventure
The Mothers Anger is a two-piece band from Israel that sounds like a five piece band from Detroit. Could this be because the debut full length by Drummer/Vocalist Jimi and Guitarist/Vocalist Stitch was produced by bassist Michael Davis of legendary Detroit rockers The MC5? You read that right, a two piece band in which the guitarist tunes a few strings to play the bass and guitar parts simultaneously, enters the studio with a producer who happens to be a famous bass player (and also plays on a track!). CD $3 SKU:19778

OPHIUCHUS-ST (obscure 70s psych blues) Label:LION This ambitious album somehow manages to blend grungy psychedelic rock, acoustic blues, and densely orchestrated French pop/psych (in an Ilous & Decuyper vein) into an impressive and cohesive whole. Sandy Spencer, cellist and member of Mormos contributed wonderful playing on ‘Ne cherche plus’ and ‘Inachevée.’ This reissue includes the original album plus eight bonus tracks in English meant to be the basis of an international album that was never issued. CD $10 SKU:20094

PLEASURE SEEKERS- What a Way To Die w the Quatro Sisters (60s ) - Label:CRADLE ROCKS Digitally remastered with many never before released recordings! the original 60’s all girl rock and rollers who started a revolution. The Pleasure Seekers lived, played, partied, and rocked the music scene in the Renaissance era of the 60’s, when female musicians were looked upon as “novelty acts”. The Pleasure Seekers and the music they played gained the attention and respect of Detroit “male rockers”, as well as the legends of the era. In just under five years, the Pleasure Seekers toured extensively throughout the U.S., Canada, and the Far East, as a headliner, as well as being support for acts like the Yardbirds, Eric Burdon and the Animals, Joe Cocker, Alice Cooper, Procol Harem, Badfinger, MC5, Bob Seger, Iggy Stooge, and many others. CD $18 SKU:16258

POP MUSIC TEAM - Society Is A Shit (ultra rare Mexican 60s psych Iron Butterfly/Doors style )Label:VAM MEXICO Pop Music Team were among the first psychedelic bands in Mexico, writing original material influenced by Iron Butterfly, Jefferson Airplane, and the Doors (they even opened for the Doors at the Forum in Mexico City). This is a reissue of their legendary unreleased album, recorded for Orfeon in April 1969, with killer fuzz guitar and organ, mostly sung in English. This music should be known to all psych music heads, but it isn’t: so what happened? It’s simple. A demo recording of the band’s track ‘Tlatelolco 68’ was broadcast on the radio in 1969. The Mexican government heard the track, and immediately quashed the release of the album; their objection: the song described the brutal repression of the student movement in Mexico (students were slaughtered at La Plaza de las Tres Culturas in Tlatelolco, Mexico City). For a long time, about 36 years to be precise, no one knew that an entire album had been recorded, or where to find the masters. But here it is, psychedelic garage jams with sweet fuzz and farfisa, including ‘Tlatelolco 68’, which turns out to be a 10-minute freaked out long jam. Sure, the cover art looks like a bubble gum packet (there was no original jacket art, since the album was never released), but don't let that or the band name scare you. This is wonderful stuff! CD $10 SKU:15123

REINHOLD, MOLITOR- REINHOLD 60s PSYCH)-Label:VAM Globe-trotting artist Bodo Molitor may have been born in Germany, but he’ll forever be associated with the psychedelic scene in Mexico and South America. In addition to creating the zoomorphic art for his own bizarre album, “Hits Internacionales,” he also created the psychedelic art for the legendary Kaleidoscope album, for La Libre Expresion, and for his brother Reinhold’s solo album. He had this to say about the Reinhold record: “My Brother Reinhold came for a visit from Germany where he was playing with several bands. He was only 19. I knew Edghar Zamudio (from Peru) and one day he asked us to record that LP. Just acoustic—guitars and a banjo played brilliantly by my brother. I think we recorded the whole album in three or four days. I played some guitars and did some vocals as well. It’s folky and bluesy with originals some covers and traditionals. My brother sings and plays guitar and banjo, on some of the songs he wrote.” The Reinhold album is so rare, even with the connection to his more famous artist brother, no one seems to have discovered it… until now. Despite being from the end of the 1960’s, Reinhold has more of an early-60's NYC Greenwich Village Cafe Wha?-ish folk underpinning. The best tracks have gravel-pated vocals in a vaguely Tom Waits or maybe Joseph Spence sort of vein—really syrupy and quite excellent. Overall, a dark and morose vibe dominates; and we can all use some minor key laments, now and then, right? Limited edition of only 500 copies, CD $10 SKU:19373

SAVANNA SILVER BAND - PURE SILVER ( 70s dark folk)Label:SEELIE COURT 380 copy limited edition first pressings in mini card gatefold sleeves, from Glass Masters (not cdrs)From the darkling psychedelic folk of Anaconda, through the bathetic psychedelic anguish of Arcadium, Miguel Sergides finally arrived from London at the Antipodes in a mid-seventies disco frenzy and recorded his ultimate masterpiece as The Savanna Silver Band. Long a cult item for disco and funk collectors, this is the first reissue of a classic masterpiece, where Sergides aptitude for long complex progressive compositions morphs seamlessly into a gorgeous funk disco setting, the result slots perfectly alongside the jazz funk perfection of Chic, Shakatak, The Average White Band and Sister Sledge. CD $20 SKU:24930

SHOTGUN -Dallasian Rock( Led Zep style 70s hard rock )Label:SHROOMANGEL (USA) A blend of hard hitting riff rock á la early Led Zeppelin and James Gang, with a guitar attack reminiscent of bands like Leafhound or Edgar Broughton Band. Tight, muscular, lean and mean urban blues rock riffage and soaring, soulful vocals, punchy bass and solid drumming make for a memorable set of songs that you won't soon forget. Shotgun had a successful career in and around Dallas, TX between 1974 and 1977, playing the club circuit and recording at the cities best studios. Sadly, nothing ever came of the recording sessions and Shotgun eventually morphed into VIZION, which released an album in 1980 that featured the vocals of Jan Houston. Finally after more than 38 years, Shotgun's long lost studio sessions are presented for the first time ever on LP as they were meant to be heard. The CD versions includes eleven additional bonus tracks. The most amazing thing about these tracks is how they remained on the shelf all these years! •Tight, muscular, lean and mean urban blues rock riffage. •Previously unreleased vintage studio tracks from the 1970's CD $10 SKU:19956

YAMA & the Karma Dusters-Up From the Sewers (1970 quintessential anarcho-hippie record)-Label:LION Super political, rocking, anti-establishment communal band (c. 1970) put together as a result of the Kent State Massacre. As the Euphoria Blimpworks Banliond, fronted by Howard Berkman from morose garage punksters the Knaves, they played demonstrations and student strikes when they weren’t opening for blues royalty—or being the first band to play the yard at Cook County Jail. They were inter-racial, anti-war, Stop the Bomb, free love hippies, the wildest of the wild kids. And this is the quintessential anarcho-hippie record, a surprisingly well-engineered indie effort which came inside home-made silk-screened jackets, with twisted, poetic lyrics (Dylan or Arthur Lee and Love? you decide), and funky, rocking bones—political, sociological, ecological, reflective and free-love sexy. The Karma Dusters really cook on the up-tempo tracks, sounding at times like a cross between The Blues Project and Dylan's band circa 1966, augmented by some dazzling violin. This excellent sounding master-tape reissue has two bonus tracks; it also has two booklets—one is for the outrageous and explicit Gonzo history of the band and their urban commune; the other is a wrap-around booklet for lyrics, all served up together in a Mylar plastic sleeve. You just know the FBI has a huge file on these punks. But do they have the album? CD $10 SKU:20098

REVOLUTION -Teen Time In Corpus Christi (1966 Texas garage) -Label:CICADELIC In 1966, famed lead guitarist Rod Prince (later of Bubble Puppy) re-wrote the 13th Floor Elevators' song 'Tried To Hide' as 'All Night Long' and released it with the Bad Seeds as their third single. They were the number one band at the time in Corpus Christi. Although 'All Night Long' would beat the Elevators' 'Tried To Hide' (on International Artists) to the market, the Bad Seeds disbanded in the summer of 1966 and other renowned Corpus bands would follow in their footsteps, most scoring top ten hits on the way: Four more with the ultra-rare single 'Problem Child' b/w 'Don't Give Up Hope'. The Zakary Thaks with 'Bad Girl' and 'Face To Face'. The Liberty Bell with 'The Nazz Are Blue' and 'For What You Lack'. The Buckle with 'Baroque Rock' on 'I've Got Something On My Mind'. Folk-rock singer Michael backed by The Zakary Thaks on all three of his singles, sounding more like a 1966 era Bob Lind than Bob Lind. And Kubla Khan singing about changin' times in 'Revolution' and pondering whether 'the brown grass will be legalized'. Memorabilia such as top 30 radio surveys, rare photos, news articles from the era, interviews with band members, sixteen page booklet, and twenty-eight tracks (including previously unreleased recordings) combine to make this a trip back to the '60s, when a revolution in sound was happening in Corpus Christi, Texas." SUMMER TURNS TO AUTUMN - Ember Rock, Vol. 2 (RARE 60S PSYCH& PROG)-Label:FANTASTIC VOYAGE British indie label Ember released a number of rock albums and singles between 1969 and 1972, which today are much sought after by collectors of psychedelic, progressive and folk rock sounds. Many of the best tracks from these are gathered on “Summer Turns To Autumn”. Foremost among the artists compiled here is progressive rock band Blonde On Blonde, represented by tracks from both of their Ember albums. Fantastic Voyage has salvaged two tracks from Blue Beard s album. An early songwriting/production project for Bob Welch, who next surfaced in Fleetwood Mac, the album was only released in Italy, but the single ‘Sly Willy’ was more widely available and is highly prized by collectors of funky rock. Tyrannosaurus Rex-style acoustic hippy duo Knocker Jungle and progressive folk group 9.30 Fly each managed one now highly collectable long player for the label. The remainder of the material ranges from the fuzzy psychedelic rock of Canadians The Dorians and the melodic folk rock of Paddy Maguire, backed by heavy friends Steve Winwood and Jerry Donahue (of Fotheringay), to the soul-rock fusion of Milt Matthews Inc, here interpreting a Blind Faith song, and a previously unissued folk rock rendition of ‘East Virginia’ by Polly Niles. “Summer Turns To Autumn” complement Fantastic Voyage’s existing, highly popular compilations of Ember Beat and Ember Pop, with no duplication of tracks. Nice shrink-wrapped slip-case packaging. COMP CD $10 SKU:19046

TWO TIMING BABY -Ember Sixties Pop: Volume 2, 1961-1962Label:FANTASTIC EMBER In 1960, Jeffrey Kruger launched Ember Records as an independent, one of very few in the UK, where the majors held sway. Straight away, the label set about trying to break into the charts with many fine pop releases. The Ember Sixties Pop series compiles the best of those records. “Two Timing Baby” picks up the story from where Say When: Ember Sixties Pop Volume 1 (FVCD044) left off. Carter, Lewis & The Southerners first Ember single ‘Two Timing Baby’/’Will It Happen To Me’ features Joe Meek engineering, Geoff Goddard on piano, Albert Lee on guitar, Chas Hodges on bass and Bobby Graham on drums. The Meek connection continues with Mark Douglas only single: Joe produced ‘It Matters Not’/’Upside Down’ and Tornado Clem Cattini confirms he drums on both tracks. American songwriters Buddy Kaye and Phil Springer penned many hits, including ‘The Next Time’ for Cliff Richard. They brought several songs to Ember and Grant Tracy was the adaptable vocalist on ‘The Great Matchmaker’/’The Tears Came Rolling Down’ and the follow-up flip ‘Taming Tigers.’ Other beneficiaries of the prolific Kaye and Springer were Johnny Carson (‘Are You Anyone s Girl’/’Teenage Bachelor’ and, again, ‘The Tears Came Rolling Down’) and Sandra Gale (‘Hello Heartache’/’If She s Right For You’) who had been girl singer with the Ray Ellington Quartet, joining Ember when Ellington did. Kruger chose the songs for Lita Roza’s single with the aim of moving her sound towards pop and rock n roll, and she turns in fine performances on ‘Mama (He Treats Your Daughter Mean)’/’(He s My) Dreamboat,’ aided by a driving band led by Tony Crombie. Brooklyn-born Kerry Adams recorded her single in New York, conducted by future soul giant Jerry Ragovoy. The Dale Sisters cute harmonies are evident on their second Ember single, ‘Road To Love’/’Secrets.’ Tommy Sanderson’s second Ember 45 combined trad-jazz ‘Ding Dong Rag’ with groovy ‘Piano A Go Go,’ which would have made a great theme for a TV detective show. Many of these original singles are highly collectable (mint copies of Mark Douglas are valued at £75, Carter, Lewis & The Southerners at £50 and Lita Roza at £30). Subsequent volumes will carry the story through to the end of the sixties, with further sought after tracks included. The series is complemented by compilations devoted to beat and rock from the Ember vaults. Recordings are mastered from tape, where available, and booklets illustrated with sleeve and label shots. Nice shrink-wrapped slip-case packaging. COMP CD $10 SKU:19205

BERTIE - Algy Lord Gray (1970 Kinks influenced)Label:SEELIE COURT A gloriously mad Kinks-influenced underground Edwardian progressive masterpiece. It’s as if Noel Coward, Hawkwind, The Incredible String Band, Neu, The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band and The Kinks were scrambled together in a disastrous Star Trek teleportation accident. In 1970 the Berties took over a crumbling mansion in the wilds of Wales, made this LP, sent it to John Peel (whose letter of reply is reproduced on the sleeve), and never left. They remain in Wales to this day. Bertie is a deranged subversive and witty concept album about a man’s descent into ruin. ‘Dragonfly Wings’ combines proto-motorik drumming (predating Neu) with Hawkwind and Incredible String Band influences. The surefire future hit ‘Would You Like a Brown Ale?’ is pure Ray Davies filtered through the demented minds of this ex-Etonian band of dissipated aristocratic youths mangling La Bamba into a Kinksian breakdown. ‘Would You Like To Score? says it like it is, without the wishy washy metaphors of the proletarian bands of the time—there is no ‘purple haze’ here, only, ‘where can we buy drugs’. Far better than SF Sorrow, Tommy or Arthur, Bertie is a powerful argument for the return of a feudal system and a new British Empire. To reiterate, Bertie is the greatest LP ever made, and we wish to the gods we could press it on Shellac. Only two or three original LPs are known to exist, with fabulous hand sprayed covers. THE BEST LP IN THE WORLD. Originals valued at over £4,000. "The greatest LP ever made” — Seelie Court LP $30 SKU:24684

BOLIDES- Science Under Pressure (Cramps style garage/pop/punk) -Label:DIONYSUS he Bolides play a little like a faster, more conventionally garage rock version of the Cramps on their debut album. There are influences from the most basic of '60s garage bands and the more hook-driven '70s punk acts. LP $10 SKU:19790

CRUSADERS-Middle Age Rampage (GARAGE PUNK) 10”Label:DIONYSUS Six tracks (and one bonus take off on a '60s radio commercial for milk-shakes) recorded and produced by Tim Kerr at Sweatbox Studios in Texas. These four Aussies were in the middle of their first US tour and man, they were ON! Loud, furious, and f*cked up! LP $5 SKU:19023

FLUX-ST (1973 monsterpiece King Crimson style) GATEFOLD Label:SEELIE COURT Searing art rock monsterpiece dominated by a relentlessly coruscating lead guitar sonic attack as if played by a demonically possessed John McLaughlin. Flux is ex-Babe Ruth, ex-Motiffe, with lead guitar by John Grimaldi before he joined Argent and worked on their prog masterpiece 'Circus'. This LP is taken from a mono mastertape recorded on a BBC Mobile Unit at a live gig in 1973. A shocked Record Mirror journalist witnessed the concert and described it in a published Record Mirror review as 'a new form of music'. Sound quality is great and this is a band in top form playing exactly what they want, in a zone a bit like King Crimson's 'Red', but with insane guitar leads that bludgeon the listener to death. The vocalist later joined Italian prog rockers Flea On The Honey. Play this with a hangover and you will die in screaming agony. One very short track, and four very long ones. The gig ended with an IRA bomb scare. Yes really. LP $28 SKU:24151

KARAKORUM - PRISON BITTERNESS (1969 studio demos, Keith Moon fave!) Label:SEELIE COURT The only surviving 1969 studio demos of this important underground band. Keith Moon raved about them, they were known for their live reputation. Karakorums sonic inner space inevitably conjures up images of heavy cannabis and marijuana usage. The band lock into darkly introverted grooves, with complex patterns, eastern influences, and left field lyricism and vocal, heavy guitar led tracks and the use of wah-wah. They were ultimately uncategorisable, poetic, and this album needs multiple plays to connect to. LP $25 SKU:25510

LIFEBLUD - BE THOU MY VERY ARMOUR (RARE 70s folk prog )Label:SEELIE COURT Masterful studio recordings by this accomplished '70s prog-folk band purveying poetismic underground sounds, and includes the only surviving track from their heavy guitar folk phase 'Man Of War'. LP $34 SKU:26287

MCKAY-Into You ( WEEDBURNER- One of the holy grails of 70s Indianapolis private-pressdom ) -Label:LION w Updated liner notes and exactly-transcribed lyrics. One of the "holy grails" of Indianapolis private-pressdom (surpassed only by Zerfas and Anonymous) available again in its original format! Ray "McKay" Pierle and his musically-adept brothers and friends partied, jammed and partied some more on Indy's south side throughout the mid-70's, forming a band (Loos) which managed to garner zero media attention at the time. However, Ray's trusty Teac four-track was always close at hand and countless hours of home recordings were induced onto magnetic tape, as well as a few songs laid down at a local studio. After a brief hiatus, the core members reconvened as McKay, and created their sole document, the 300-press "Into You" album (1978); the LP was given to friends and family and consigned in nearby record shoppes. A mere 15 years had to pass before the collecting world discovered the highly-personal songwriting, tight playing, and not-so-well-hidden West-Coast stylistic touches. A vinyl reissue was locally produced back then but it's long gone, so here's a new all analogue, master tape edition for a new generation to savor. •All-analogue pressing, cut directly from the original master tapes. •Licensed from Ray Pierle with his full cooperation and support. •Updated liner notes and exactly-transcribed lyrics. LP $24 SKU:16350

REDONDO BEAT - Meet Redondo Beat ( 60s infl. Raspberries/ Bay City Rollers style ) - Label:DIONYSUS With download coupon .Influences run the gamut from early 60s Brill Building songwriters and related East Coast Girl Group sound, Creedence Clearwater Revival, a touch of Doo Wop, the sound of mid-60s convertible top-down summertime Southern California and early 70s teenage AM radio Raspberry City Rollers flavored love-affairs. It is pure pop as seen through the eyes of the best decades of original rock n roll music with all the drive of late 70s punk powered 80s power pop. Dionysus commissioned Southern California Surf artist Damian Fulton to paint the cover and the disc was mastered by The Tikiyaki Orchestras Jim Bacchi. Its a marvelous listening experience that will have you traveling time and bobbing your head to some of the sweetest retro-pop-rock music youve EVER heard! LP $5 SKU:-16949

SOHO ORANGE - KINGS OF THE ROAD (70s searing hard rock Zep style proto metal) Label:SEELIE COURT Searing hard rock that combines the savagery of early Budgie with the mystical edge of Led Zeppelin, this Scottish band is an important addition to the roster of early proto metal bands. Taken from original 1971 master tapes, this LP ranks with the best of early seventies UK hard rock. Six long tracks that decimate many established proto metal albums, this restores track title and session order that were mangled on a well intentioned German bootleg decades ago. LP $34 SKU:26285

STEVE BROWN BAND- Soul Full of Sin (70s killer rarity)-SAALE!Label:SEELIE COURT Steve brown formed this outfit in 1971, and they quickly developed a tight style of cool but potent jazz rock, characterised by lengthy powerful instrumental breaks and sax, and infectious beats. This LP pieces together what should have been a debut record on Transatlantic from remaining studio tapes and acetate sources. The six tracks are pure killer, opening with ‘Hitman’ which is sung first person from the point of view of an assassin for hire; stone cold cool with a fantastic bass-line and rhythm it conjurs up early seventies nihilistic film and tv imagery. The side ends with a genuine lost anthem in ‘Shine A Light,’ epic and melancholic. The lyrics are fab, and have a worldly wise quality about them. One of the greatest bands no one has heard of, hereby rescued from slipping into the ether, despite once being on the verge of a deal with Transatlantic and garnering a massive live following in their native Newcastle area during the early to mid seventies. A completely pro band, with brilliant songs, and a unique style. In 1973, the band hit a bad patch, burnt out by extensive gigging, they crashed their Transit Tour Van on a motorway, miraculously surviving. LP $25 SKU:24688
