GROUP DOUEH- Treeg Salaam (Visionary modern blues) - Label:SUBLIME FREQUENCIES: WAREHOUSE FIND ONE COPY!
Compiled from Group Doueh's personal cassette archives. Photos from Group Doueh archive. Group Doueh's follow-up to their now-legendary debut LP is here. While most would think it damn near impossible to top the former release, in terms of sheer "shock and awe," Treeg Salaam (trans. "Streets Of Peace"), blows hot and dusty from the infernal sand-swept dunes of the Western Sahara. Compiled from Group Doueh's personal archives, these five tracks (note: sidelong piece on the flip), are as brain-shifting in their ecstatic brilliance as any music ever heard. From the wah-stroked lead-off track to the blazing dexterity of "Ragsa Jaguar," the whole of the first side is an entrance to the lip-puckering tea den of Saharan trance heaven. Salmou Baamar's (Doueh) guitar/tinidit runs explode in cosmic shrapnel, raining down on the temporal nodes of the listener's brain. On side 2, we have a 20-minute, smoky, slow-burning, psychedelic excursion into the great unknown. A meditation on the arid and inhospitable landscape that inspires this music and its people. This is a one-time pressing of 1,500 copies. Pressed on 180 gram vinyl and comes in a gatefold full-color jacket with great photos of the musicians. LP $20 SKU:9979

S.T. MIKAEL - MIND OF FIRE ONE COPY warehouse find -Label:SUBLIMINAL SOUND Incredibly enough, but very naturally, after 11-years silence heres a new album by this mysterious and legendary Swedish psychedelic multi-instrumentalist. S.T. Mikael spearheaded the DIY psychedelic rock/folk movement of the late 1980s-mid-90s, with a collection of albums that now fetches up and over $1000 on Ebay. During his long absence S.T Mikael grew more secretive and reclusive, but all the while he was still writing music. Now that hes finally back heres at last a chance for the world to join in to his psychedelic world again. The music, stretching out in many different musical directions, has been done freely and spontaneously in an extremely relaxed and happy environment, where Mikael joined forces with Dungens Reine Fiske and Fredrik Bjorling , whos musical expertise now also grace the grooves. These otherworldly acid tripper recordings now exists in the real world and ST Mikael, proves, once again, to be a gifted songwriter and an unconventional performer with a very personal ear for acoustics and an emotional honesty seldom seen these days. Folk rocky melodic elements flow with waves of heavy fuzzphase leads, weird detached haunted vocal echoes over the band and the whole thing seems to teeter on the brink of psychedelic oblivion. Not revival either but purely of the now. You do get the feeing that Mikael actually lives the lifestyle rather than just emulating it. His soaring vocals, surreal lyrics, fragile, folky melodies, heavy fuzz riffs, mind bending soul funk and penchant for the spiritual and mystical make this altogether a fascinating voyage that is so mind twisting, soul swirling, upper psychedelic that your third eye takes you on a joyride thru an altered state! This album makes your brain start thinking in those pebble splash pond mind circular expanding waveforms that people on this vibe await the returning ship their roots sent out to bring back the password to tomorrow. A homage to LSD which helped him make the transformation possible. This is part one of a suite of two separate albums. Limited edition of 500 copies only. LP $36 SKU:7168

DRAGUEURS ,LES - Lunettes de Soleil Pic slv ( 60s style garage ) SALE - Label:WILD WILD Debut effort from French '60s style garage band featuring Jon Von from the Rip Offs. Includes four page photo love story. 45 RPM $4 SKU:13033

DREAM (NL) - Rebellion / The Doting King (Dutch psych 1969 ) ltd to 300 SAALE -Label:MILKCOW This definitely needed an official re-release, as it's been highly searched after by many garage, psych and Nederbeat connaisseurs and deejays. The Dream came from Tiel and already explored the psychedelic fields with its predecessor Mother's Love. By 1969 The Dream produced their second single, called 'Rebellion'. With one foot still deep in the garagey freakbeat sound and the other in the new psychedelic territory with the first hints of prog, 'Rebellion' is a groovy yet powerful three chord song of monstrous proportions! For the flipside Milkcow choose the a-side of the band's first single 'The Doting King', this one's more in the vein of Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd - quite psychedelic, yes. Limited to 300 copies, so watcha waiting for? 45 RPM $8 SKU:14853

EXPLOSIVES - Come Clean PLUS 3 -Label:MUNSTER Austin's The Explosives (who would go on to be Roky Erickson's backing band) lived up to their name in the late '70s and early '80s, packing more power than their so-called punk rock peers. That's because they were not actually punk rockers themselves. Like Elvis Costello (saddled with the same inappropriate tag at the time), they played something that had been out of fashion for a while: music of rhythm with a jangly melody; something called "rock and roll." This is a facsimile reissue of their blasting 1979 debut. 45 RPM $9 SKU:16493

FEELERS -Childrens Are kids Too ( KBD punk 70s style color pic slv )-SAALE Label:PTRASH ILLED BY DEATH punk with the snottiness and destructive spirit of THE GERMS, PAGANS or the ZERO BOYS mixed with a heavy dosis of distorted and fuzzed-up guitars, a neurotic singer and a cool and catchy subliminal 77Punk/New Wave touchAchtung Hipster/ F*ck Treaties Carwell Voicemail limd. 500 x black wax/ thick cardboard sleeve!! Euro Tour 2007 45 RPM $2 SKU:8431

FONTANA - "I Feel Like A Jerk" ( DIY punk ) - Label:X RECORDS Nice three-track EP here from Michigan's Fontana, the first I've heard from these kids who share label-space with other recent area phenoms Tyvek, Terrible Twos and Frustrations. "Dumb Luv" is a quite Brit-sounding aloof and near goofy punker with a very Raw Records vibe and fun-sounding whooping vocals. "(Having A) Fun Time" exhibits some thuggy guitar-rock feel with elements of classic Detroit rock energy. Two ace A-Side cuts. "You're Obscene" fills the flip side with a Frustrations-like busy-ness, with a quiet song-within-a-song guitar interlude/workout bookended by energetic Tyvek-like DIY punkitude. A nice companion to their more "famous" stablemates. 45 RPM $3 SKU:7085

GRAVEYARD FIVE - The Graveyard Theme ( masterpiece of 60s U.S. garage rock ) -Label:STANCO BWThe Marble Orchard . A true masterpiece of 60s U.S. garage rock finally reissued after more than 45 years. Very limited pressing of only 500 copies, with replica labels. Fully authorized, licensed, restored and remastered. The first ever reissue of the legendary Graveyard Five single: 'The Graveyard Theme' b/w 'The Marble Orchard' (Stanco SR-102), one of the true "holy grails" of garage rock. This is truly one of the rarest 45s in the world, with only a handful of original copies known to exist; no surprise then that they sell for more than $4,500! 'The Graveyard Theme,' an exercise in fuzz guitar excess, was apparently inspired by a Ouija board session. The B side is the fuzz soaked reverb-laden monster, 'The Marble Orchard', which tells the true tale of the creepy, wet October night the band spent in the cemetery; they were convinced they saw something move from behind a tombstone and then heard "a wolfpack howl". If the circumstances and subject matter of these songs isn't creepy enough, the recording studio where these songs were recorded was supposedly haunted by a spectre that provided guest background vocals in the form of a growling noise thats clearly audible near the end of 'The Marble Orchard'. 45 RPM $12 SKU:15901

ACID AND FLOWERS - VA ( 60’s psych ) - Label:TIMOTHY'S BRAIN what else can you expect from the label named after Timothy Leary's brain? how about an incredible compilation of twenty-one rare psychedelic singles, delicious nuggets from a world gone mad with free love and expensive drugs, a world where LSD was the only truth, a world from which few have willingly returned; distorted fuzz guitars, phasing, weird echoey drums and songs about 'Strawberry Children' (the Hobbits) make this an expertly assembled psychedelic journey for all would-be stoners; includes tracks by Ford Theater, the World Column, Crystal Chandelier (the incredible and chilling 'Setting of Despair' that opens the collection), and many obscure others. ALGO SALVAJE - (SPANISH NUGGETS! Untamed 60's Beat and Garage Nuggets from Spain Vol. 1 -Label:MUNSTER Includes extensive notes by Vicente Fabuel, featuring all the original record sleeves and artist photos.
Internationally labeled as "nuggets" (after the original compilation of the same name concocted by Jac Holzman and Lenny Kaye in 1972 for the Elektra label), the more common garage rock label has been used to place and describe one of the most fertile chapters of rock & roll history during its most creative years. An underground story which has luckily become known, with participants from all around the globe, which included anonymous musicians, independent record labels with impossible names, and ridiculously limited pressings, often not more than a few hundred copies. Much more important and influential than its level of exposure would suggest, this nuggets-type of music was insolent, proud and self-taught. The trigger of the phenomenon was, without a doubt, the concluding British Invasion to the U.S., which started in 1964: that collective youthful glare provoked by an unprecedented music event in which a number of English bands took up American music and regenerated it in their own personal way. All of them managed to open a big crack in the comfortable status of early '60s rock through which garage rock, in an incredible game of fascination and rage, started to pour freely. This new music, drawing from beat, rhythm & blues and the new psychedelic nuances that already flew over the rock scene, emerged gloriously as a coarse creature. Question Mark, The 13th Floor Elevators, The Remains, The Chocolate Watchband, Electric Prunes, The Seeds, The Standells, Kenny & The Casuals, The Sonics, Music Machine -- and hundreds more bands. They led the American answer to the British bands and they all reached truly fantastic heights, although any list of great names will be insufficient and unfair. Dazzled by that blinding light, thousands of bands appeared from all over the world, including Spain, of course. Few of the expected obstacles derived from the political and social situation in Spain under Franco seemed to matter to these bands. At their own pace and in their own way, and almost at the same time that it was happening on the other side of the Atlantic, the Spanish nuggets got into action and moved from the village music band to the yeh-yeh group. The cleverest teenagers noticed that there was something new in the air, and realized that such intoxicating music enabled them to display attitudes and words which didn't have any other way out in that anomalous society. The breeding ground was usually small labels and sometimes, not often, the bigger imprints would dare take a chance. In both cases, the nuggets-type tracks were always on the B-side of singles and EPs. It's worth it to note the unusual case of Los Brincos and their Beatlesque and thunderous debut "Dance the Pulga," a visionary piece which started the genre in 1964 with all the honors, and whose second 7", Flamenco, introduced one of the key contributions of Spanish garage: noisy approximations or versions of copla and flamenco songs. It was an obligatory and respectable settling of scores with genres of music that were tied to the past and to a model of authoritarian family whose foundations were starting to crack. And although the dotted map of the most prolific areas points towards the tourist sites of the Mediterranean coast, it was actually a global phenomenon which took place in any part of Spain. Coming, most of them, from a middle class background which was starting to consolidate, Spanish teenagers from the '60s employed the same musical models as their foreign colleagues, but their contribution was not only exemplary in many cases, but also specifically genuine. These Spanish Nuggets, an eternal unfinished business of our musical heritage waiting to be reissued, are finally celebrated here on this first volume of Algo Salvaje. Includes extensive notes by Vicente Fabuel, featuring all the original record sleeves and artist photos. COMP CD $21 SKU:16131

ALIVE AT THE DEEP BLUES FESTIVAL -VA digipack CD W Radio Moscow, Lee Bains,Buffalo Killers , John The Conqueror, Left Lane Cruiser Brian Olive, Henry’s Funeral Shoe- Label:ALIVE BUFFALO KILLERS and RADIO MOSCOW turned in super heavy sets soaked in psychedelia and reverb, while LEE BAINS III & The GLORY FIRES fiercely ripped through their show with a blistering set of songs steeped in Southern rock, R&B, soul, gospel and punk. BRIAN OLIVE and his backing band melded soulful R&B with technicolor garage-pop for their early daytime set, while HENRY’S FUNERAL SHOE (the Welsh duo), LEFT LANE CRUISER and newcomers JOHN THE CONQUEROR perhaps kept closest to the Deep Blues curriculum with their respectively raunchy and heavily amplified modern interpretations of rural gutbucket Delta Blues.Grab a copy of Alive At The Deep Blues Fest, invite a bunch of good friends over for some food & drink, and PLAY IT LOUD! ALLERGIC TO FLOWERS- Garage Beat & Popsike - Part 2 1965-68 NEW LO PRICE! -Label:RPM (UK) "Part two of the first time thematic overview of West Coast independent label Challenge Records. The label hit paydirt in early 1966 when it scored a coast-to-coast hit with The Knickerbockers outstandingly energetic rave up 'Lies.' This riff on The Beatles sound could actually have been The Beatles. Its inclusion on Lenny Kaye's Nuggets set 'Lies' in stone as a all-time classic. Allergic To Flowers: Garage Beat & Popsike celebrates this and the other nuggets that Challenge issued from 1965 to 1968. There's The Brogues paint-peeling punk rocker 'Don t Shoot Me Down' -- the band featured future members of San Francisco legends Quicksilver Messenger Service. Also heard are more irresistible, rockin' and melodic high-energy gems by The Knickerbockers, the absolutely incredible psychedelic punk of Florida band We The People, the tough-as-nails Lindy Blaskey and the Lavells and the superb psychedelic harmonies of Fenwyck's 'Mindrocker.' And then there's the folk rocking and punkish sides recorded by Gene Vincent with Glenn Campbell, as well as The Jefferson Handkerchief's hippy novelty 'I'm Allergic To Flowers.' ASTRAL DAZE - VA ( 70 s Psychedelic South African Rock ) - Label:FRESH Although the South African rock movement of the late sixties and early seventies was not a major commercial success, it's participants heralded an exciting new age in South African rock and started a movement aimed at changing the musical tastes of fans in a spectacular way. Stadium concerts became the vehicle for feeding the youth with heavier rock sounds, and behind studio glass were producers like Clive Calder, Billy Forrest, Graham Beggs and Selwyn Miller who acted as change agents to transform conventional pop into heavier 4 to 5 minute songs. The movement's struggle for recognition through airplay remained unanswered and only the true fans of rock knew about their existence. HIGHS IN THE MID 60’s - Vol 3 L.A 67 - ( rare 60s ) LAST COPIES Label:AIP Highs in the Mid-Sixties, Volume 3 (subtitled LA '67 / Mondo Hollywood) is a compilation album in the Highs in the Mid-Sixties series, featuring recordings that were released in Los Angeles. (Despite the subtitle, not all of these records were originally released in 1967). The subtitle is seemingly taken from Mondo Cane, an influential 1962 documentary film. Highs in the Mid-Sixties, Volume 1, Highs in the Mid-Sixties, Volume 2, and Highs in the Mid-Sixties, Volume 20 also showcase music from Los Angeles; while two of the later CDs in the Pebbles series, Pebbles, Volume 8 and Pebbles, Volume 9 feature bands from throughout Southern California. The flip side of "Every Night" by the Human Expression, "Love at Psychedelic Velocity" is better known and appeared several years earlier on the Pebbles, Volume 10 LP. The Grains of Sand (featured on the original Pebbles album), the Lyrics, and Limey & the Yanks also had tracks on Highs in the Mid-Sixties, Volume 1. The Kim Fowley track is one of his many pseudo-documentary explorations of part of the L.A. scene. The song by the Flower Children, which complains about miniskirts, shows that nearly every possible topic has been covered in one pop song or another. COMP LP $14 SKU:7976

After one final and disappointing rock and roll 45, drugs and the draft had accounted for many of the band and they regrouped as The Pointing Hand Group.
