RADIO BIRDMAN- Ritualism (Jan 1996 )Label CRYING SUN- January 1996 saw the reformation of Radio Birdman after an 18 year hiatus. The band themselves were as surprised as everyone else by this development. At the time there was no thought of an ongoing future, only a wait and see approach with the focus being solely on a successful completion of the tour. After all, this was the tour that should have taken place way back in 1978 after their well documented break up and they wanted it to be as good as possible with no damage to their mythology. During the pre-tour rehearsal time, there had been discussion as to whether recording live material for strictly archival purposes should be considered but nothing definite agreed upon. When Melbournes Radio Triple R approached the band's management regarding an appearance on their Caught In The Act live music feature, a window of opportunity opened. This was an workable way to obtain quality live material without the headache of organising a fully blown live recording. Although there were no specific plans for a release, things went well and Ritualism became the end result. (jewel case ) CD $14 SKU:12514

The superb performance captured here took place in Argentina, and was recorded for FM radio broadcast. On it they tear through many of their best-known songs, proving that they were going out with a bang. It's presented here together with background notes and imagesCD $15 SKU:17111

PTARMIGAN -ST (70s hippie/psych cult fave)- Label:LION First official release of this cult favorite - an album overflowing with brooding, mystical, Eastern-influenced hippie psychedelia dominated by long and largely instrumental tracks - all based on a complex interplay of recorder, hand drums and acoustic guitar. Ptarmigan recorded the basic tracks for what would eventually become their only album in Vancouver, B.C. during the fall of 1972. One of those hidden gems from the 70's that make life better when you discover them all these years later, rated by many as the best 'folk/progressive' and/or 'folk/psych' album ever made." IMPORT CD $10 SKU:4943

QUARTETO 1111 -Singles and EPs(POP PSYCH 1967)-Label:WORLD PSYCHEDELIA (Korea) A band that featured the most legendary musician in Portuguese pop music history (Jose Cid, widely renowned in mellotron and progressive music circles), and yet this is the first chance we’ve had to hear anything by his legendary group; what we find is a very nicely packaged fifteen track collection of delicious melodic pop/psychedelia that leads off with Quarteto 1111’s striking debut single ‘A Lenda De El-Rei D. Sebastiao’ from 1967, a song which changed the course of pop music in Portugal; as with any band of quality in that heady time, Quarteto 1111 (Jose Cid in particular) had run-ins with the politicos, which caused some of their output to be suppressed; yet, here are tracks from every year between 1967-1971, including their two English language songs ‘Ode to the Beatles’ and ‘Back to the Country’; the Beatles were obviously a very big influence on Quarteto 1111, which is evident in everything from melodic construction of the songs, to use of backward tape effects, instrumentation, string arrangements, etc.); booklet has some notes on the band’s history, emphasizing the importance of ‘A Lenda De El-Rei D. Sebastiao’. A poetic band, well-represented. CD $10 SKU:18994

QUINTAL DE CLOROFILA- O Mistério Dos Quintais (1983 Argentine psych folk )Label:DISCOS MARIPOSA Only album by psychedelic folk duo formed by brothers Dimitri and Negendre Arbo, part of a set of folk groups from Brasil comprised of “gaúchos” (native country people); Quintal de Clorofila is one of the few bands of this sort who got to make a record, which was released by the independent label Bobby Som in 1983. For this LP, Quintal de Clorofila recorded their own compositions, with lyrics by their brother, the poet Antônio Carlos Arbo. According to Dimitri Arbo, the band mixed rock, medieval music, Afro, oriental and Latin rhythms... a blend of music they dubbed "Viking Rock" (not sure why). It’s a complex sound to be sure, with tremendous depth and abundant inspiration evident throughout all of the album’s atmospheric songs. An album much beloved by Hans Pokora—and now by us. Two alternate versions of songs from the album are included as bonus tracks CD $8 SKU:20151

R.I.P. -- IN THE WIND (stoner psych Jerusalem /Sabbath style) Label:RIDING EASY Imagine that you take the sound of bands like Jerusalem, Lucifer's Friend, Dust, Sir Lord Baltimore, Black Sabbath, Motörhead, Witchfinder General, Cirith Ungol and you pass it through a sieve: what you get is R.I.P. Hank thumbnail In the Wind is such a nice change of pace from the usual genre trappings of doom...instead of weed-fueled dirges you have mid-tempo foot stompers injected with whisky and gasoline. R.I.P. almost near a desert rock-esque tone at times, but never stray too far from their doomly intentions. CD $10 SKU:18579

RIPPLE - Sons of the Gods (70s R&B /Funk/Soul)-Label:BIG BREAK Ripple were an interracial R&B/Funk/Soul group that came together in Michigan, Illinois in the early 1970’s. With their radio friendly funky sound, which could evoke Kool & The Gang and Stevie Wonder, Ripple first charted in 1973 while signed to GRC Records with the groove classic 'I Don’t Know What It Is, But It Sure Is Funky' which peaked at #11 R&B and #67 Pop and was featured on their eponymous debut album released in the same year. After hitting the upper reaches of the R&B singles chart throughout the middle of the 1970’s Ripple moved from GRC Records to the increasingly influential Salsoul Record label to record and release their second album, 'Sons of the Gods,' 1977. With Salsoul Records behind them Ripple were able to create a set of very strong dance grooves that more than stand up to the releases of many of their contemporaries of the time. The aptly titled ‘The Beat Goes On And On,’ a solid funky groove that continued the groups success on the Billboard R&B singles, was released as a single. Slick Afro/Latin percussion and smooth interplay between the horns, keyboards and guitar parts while lead singer Keith Samuels holds the R&B/Funk/Soul/Jazz/Disco melting pot together with his assured soulful vocals. Expertly re-mastered and complete with extensive liner notes and a bonus track. CD $5 SKU:19198

SALEM’S POT - PRONOUNCE THIS - DOUBLE GATEFOLDLabel:RIDING EASY “Don’t try to fight it,” the band’s motto implores, “Salem’s Pot has come to destroy your mind.” It’s the same kind of winking tease employed by low budget horror films of the 70s-80s that essentially dared audiences to experience what they knew they wanted, but couldn’t possibly expect.
Likewise, the new album by mysterious Swedish quintet Salem’s Pot delivers truly gritty and captivating heavy rock in high contrast technicolor: a sonic equivalent of The Last House On The Left, El Topo and Blood Feast. Similar to the way such films made up for their lack of flashy, expensive effects with dim lighting and implied violence, a hallucinogenic sense of true evil lurks in the dark corners of Salem’s Pot’s sound. Lest we forget, the band’s name itself is a pun on Stephen King’s stark, modernized vampire masterpiece.
Where previous Salem’s Pot releases honed doom riffs to perfection, Pronounce This! sees the band expanding its horizons to the far corners of imagination. It’s a hazy fever dream of dark, thrilling excess. It’s equal parts of The Cramps’ Psychedelic Jungle, Pentagram’s Relentless, Roky Erickson’s The Evil One and The Stooges Raw Power, as much heirs to Deep Purple as Dead Moon… metal, garage punk, acid rock and a belladonna trip gone wrong. It’s not heavy metal, this is a mutant monster that cannot be tamed. LP $15 SKU:18829

I DON'T CARE - VOL. 2: DUTCH PUNK 1977-1983 -TURQOISE VINYL DOUBLE LP Label:PSEUDONYM The image the term "Dutch punk" conjures up for many is that of the pitched battles during the squat clearances and the coronation of Queen Beatrix, in 1980. This is a shame as the equally tough, committed music that the Dutch punks made tends to get overlooked. Prey to many socio and economic forces, and often having to rely on its own ingenuity, Dutch punk was one of the most resilient and flexible of musical movements, spawning bands as brilliant as Ivy Green, Rondos, and as durable as Mecano Ltd. and The Ex. Luckily Pseudonym Records have released 'I Don't Care', a comprehensive collection brimful of brilliant, spiky and often innovative music. Exclusively restored, courtesy of dynamic 24 bit remastering from the original master tapes, and benefitting from an audiophile pressing on high quality 180-gram vinyl, this double LP compilation is a real "must-have" for collectors. The 37 tracks both highlight key players, and give a comprehensive overview of Dutch punk's finest and most interesting moments. This double LP also boasts 4 previously unreleased tracks and versions, an entertaining overview of the musical history of Dutch punk, and a wealth of obscure photos and related memorabilia. Compiled more or less in release order, and spanning the years 1977 to 1983, it also serves as a brilliant starting point for the curious, or those punk historians who may have overlooked the music that these turbulent years in the Netherlands unleashed. This compilation is housed in a deluxe 38- gram carton gatefold sleeve, and the cover is drawn by legendary "punk" illustrator Joost Swarte, who designed a number of classic punk covers. BOSSE SOUND - VA Swedish Punk Hardcore and New Wave 79-86 -Label:BACCHUS ARCHIVE Hey punk fans! Here's 27 tracks by 18 different bands that share one thing in common: They were all recorded between 1978 - 1986 in a little basement in Linköping, Sweden, a place where a (then) young man named Bosse created the B-Sound. A few of these bands had limited Swedish vinyl releases back in the day, but none of them have ever been issued in the US and most of them have never seen official release anywhere. CD $10 SKU:-19747

COSMOPOLITANS- WILD MOOSE PARTY “New Wave pom-pom girls with brains.” -Label:DIONYSUS The Village Voice described them as “New Wave pom-pom girls with brains.” The Cosmopolitans surfed the New Wave as leaders of the pack of party bands With their Shangri-La’s attitude, their Hullabaloo choreography, their Sam the Sham spirit, and their deadpan lyrics, it was like watching your favorite Sixties girl group, except the girls did more than just stand with a microphone and sing. They danced wildly, they played instruments, they pounded toy hammers and tossed a baton. It was crazy, liberating, humorous, and very Cosmopolitan… The Cosmopolitans were a dance-troupe-turned-rock combo that caught the fancy of swinging New Yorkers at the height of the punk/New Wave era. They brought down the house at the hippest downtown clubs: the Mudd Club, Max’s Kansas City, CBGB’s, Tier Three, the Ritz, the Peppermint Lounge, and Irving Plaza. Made up primarily of Jamie K. Sims and Nel Moore, the band also featured Mitch Easter on guitar. The group is best-remembered for cutting one of the most infectious singles of the era: “(How to Keep Your) Husband Happy” b/w “Wild Moose Party” and “Dancin’ Lesson.” The single originally came out on Alan Betrock’s Shake Records, then was picked up by Albion Records in Britain. The first two songs got heavy airplay on New York’s most popular rock (WNEW) and disco (WBLS) stations, as well as college radio. Goldmine wrote that “Husband Happy” had “an infectious beat, a wild sense of humor . . . The spunky chorus and the band’s cynical musical complement make this record priceless!” This compilation collects not only all three sides from the Cosmopolitans’ classic out-of-print single from1980, but also previously unreleased cuts and live material, including tabloid-inspired “Chevy Baby” and “Doug.” AND two bonus features: the original video of “(How to Keep Your) Husband Happy” and liner notes by rock journalist Parke Puterbaugh. RADIO BIRDMAN - Zeno Beach -Label:INDIGO 1st album of new material from legendary Australian punk outfit since their break up over 25 years ago. "Zeno Beach" is a long overdue new chapter in the RB story. The Stooges/MC5 influences are still apparent, but the writing & performances have matured & broadened. The results are no proto punk museum piece, but rather vital new music entirely worthy of a place alongside RB's early gems. CD $14 SKU:4958

RADIO BIRDMAN - Radios Appear-Label:TRAFALGAR Deniz Tek moved from Ann Arbor, MI, to Australia and founded Radio Birdman in 1974 with Rob Younger and the rest of The Rats' rhythm section. By the time 'Radios Appear' was recorded in 1977, the group was already legendary with a cult-like following and an ascetic devotion to the fierce 1960s rock'n'roll Tek assimilated as a Michigan resident. Homage to these influences is one aspect of 'Radios Appear'. It boasts a fiery cover of 13th Floor Elevators' 'You're Gonna Miss Me', the lyrics to 'Do the Pop' wax nostalgic for The Stooges and MC5, and 'Radio Birdman' was, of course, taken from a misheard lyric in The Stooges '1970'. However, Radio Birdman's maverick performances and songwriting on this debut elevate them far beyond pure pastiche. Opener 'What Gives?' kicks the record off at an alarmingly fast pace inspired by punks new up-tempo glee, but the trotting bass lines and savage guitar solos that follow reveal a staunch rejection of punks then-hip ineptitude. Hyperactive riffs underpin vocalist Youngers assertive, clear delivery, and Pip Hoyle takes a brilliant keyboard solo. Each instrument is separate in the mix and the production highlights Radio Birdman's technical proficiency honed for years in Sydney's few rock clubs with open doors to the uniformed sect of elitist rockers. Record labels were eager to place Radio Birdman in the new context of late-'70s punk-somewhat, inaccurately considering the band's long hair and technical skill, so WEA picked up 'Radios Appear' for distribution after its initial mail-order release on the Trafalgar imprint. Then, legendary Sire boss Seymour Stein saw Radio Birdman while visiting Australia to sign The Saints, and resolved to re-release 'Radios Appear' internationally with a different track order and particular overdubs. This version is presented here, as heard by so many late-'70s youth before starting bands of their own and citing 'Radios Appear' as an influence in interviews to come. CD $19 SKU:17489

Radio One's self-titled debut album comes from veterans of the punk rock scene- formed by ex-members of the Pushers and the Bleeders and fronted by Ruben of the punk clothing company Dogpile on vocals. These guys crank up the volume and put a kick back into the scene with a well crafted consistent sound. “Radio One plays guitar-driven 77-style punk that we've all heard before, but they tackle it with such exuberance that it's like you're hearing it for the first time. “ - Slug CD $3 SKU:5152

REDBONECome and Get Your Redbone Best of (1965 L.A. HENDRIX FAVE) Label:FLOATING WORLD Redbone was a Los Angeles-based band led by Native American Pat and Lolly Vegas, both lead singers who had previously worked under their own names, appearing in the 1965 film It's a Bikini World prior to forming Redbone, an all-Native band, at the encouragement of Jimi Hendrix. Their first success with Redbone came in 1970 with 'Maggie' on Epic. 'The Witch Queen of New Orleans' did somewhat better the next year, and 'Come and Get Your Love'—a single that peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100 and went platinum—gave them their greatest exposure. It would also be the band's last hit, though they continued to record and perform on an intermittent basis. In 2008, Redbone entered the Native American Music Awards Hall of Fame. Six years later, 'Come and Get Your Love' was introduced to a new generation when it was featured in the superhero film Guardians of the Galaxy. —Bill Dahl, Rovi CD $10 SKU:19535

REDCOATS- Meet The (64-67 POP PSYCH)-Label:DIONYSUS The Redcoats were formed in New Jersey in 1964 and recorded an album's worth of material between 1964 and 1967 that ranges from beat to pop sike. The material sadly never saw the light of day due to a manager who did nothing to advance their career. 35 years later, Bacchus Archives comes to the rescue and releases this 12-song Beatles-inspired gem. CD $5 SKU:18874

REICHEL & MACHINES, ACHIM - AR 3- (70s Legendary underground freak Label:GERMANOFON If this album wasn't made in Germany and was entirely instrumental, one could easily mistake it as a "psychedelic/space rock" album, because it's made up of mostly kosmiche, spacey jams. It's the occasional vocal chants and keyboards which give it a nice Krautrock flavor. A superb album with no major flaws, indeed an excellent addition to any prog/psych music collection. Especially recommended for fans of spacey and psychedelic music, and essential to Krautrock enthusiasts. Happy listening..." -progarchives.com "For Achim Reichel's 1973 release, and first on his vanity label Zebra, the talented Okko Bekker and noted Krautrock producer Thomas Kuckuck were invited along with many others, with the results being a higher-level mix of echo-guitar excursions, imaginative ensemble playing and kosmische folk-blues. Essential A.R.!" CD $10 SKU:7184

REICHEL, ACHIM- AR5 Autovision (70s Legendary underground freak -Label:GERMANOFON: Legendary underground freak from the '70s German head scene.” (Freak Emporium) the label says: "From 1974. Achim Reichel’s fifth excursion with echo-guitar, a collection of group and solo recordings, would be his last studio album in the mind-blowing style. Available again with improved packaging." and a little bio for good measure: German singer, songwriter, musician, and producer Achim Reichel enjoyed a long and varied career that began during the beat boom of the ’60s, when he founded the Rattles, and carried on well into the next millennium, by which time he was still recording albums and performing large-scale rock concerts. Born on January 28, 1944, in Wentorf bei Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Reichel began his music career in 1960, when he, as a singer/guitarist, formed the Rattles with bassist Herbert Hildebrandt in Hamburg. The band, along with the Lords, proved one of Germany’s leading beat bands of the day, for instance touring England with the Rolling Stones in 1963 and touring Germany with the Beatles in 1966. Reichel left the band in 1966 after several albums, including Twist im Star-Club Hamburg (1964), Liverpool Beat (1965), and Hurra! Die Rattles Kommen (1966), and subsequently entered the Bundeswehr (i.e., the German armed forces). Upon Reichel’s departure from the military, he formed another band, Wonderland, whose debut single, “Mocow” (1968), was a Top 15 hit. Next he formed the experimental solo project A.R. & Machines, which debuted with Die Grüne Reise (1971) and followed with a succession of Krautrock-fashioned albums: Echo (1972), 3 (1972), 4 (1973), and Autovision (1974). REINHOLD, MOLITOR- REINHOLD 60s PSYCH)-Label:VAM Globe-trotting artist Bodo Molitor may have been born in Germany, but he’ll forever be associated with the psychedelic scene in Mexico and South America. In addition to creating the zoomorphic art for his own bizarre album, “Hits Internacionales,” he also created the psychedelic art for the legendary Kaleidoscope album, for La Libre Expresion, and for his brother Reinhold’s solo album. He had this to say about the Reinhold record: “My Brother Reinhold came for a visit from Germany where he was playing with several bands. He was only 19. I knew Edghar Zamudio (from Peru) and one day he asked us to record that LP. Just acoustic—guitars and a banjo played brilliantly by my brother. I think we recorded the whole album in three or four days. I played some guitars and did some vocals as well. It’s folky and bluesy with originals some covers and traditionals. My brother sings and plays guitar and banjo, on some of the songs he wrote.” The Reinhold album is so rare, even with the connection to his more famous artist brother, no one seems to have discovered it… until now. Despite being from the end of the 1960’s, Reinhold has more of an early-60's NYC Greenwich Village Cafe Wha?-ish folk underpinning. The best tracks have gravel-pated vocals in a vaguely Tom Waits or maybe Joseph Spence sort of vein—really syrupy and quite excellent. Overall, a dark and morose vibe dominates; and we can all use some minor key laments, now and then, right? Limited edition of only 500 copies, CD $10 SKU:19373

BACHS- Out of the Bachs - remastered 180 gram (60s garage psych) GERMAN IMPORT- Label:OUT SIDER Restocked; '60s garage-psych moody monster! Includes insert with detailed liner notes and rare photos.Out of The Bachs was originaally released in 1968 as a private pressing of 150 copies; it's one of the rarest USA '60s garage/teenbeat albums ever. The band consisted of five young kids from Chicago, regulars at local teen dances, who decided to release an album for their fans before splitting up. Recorded and mixed in just ten hours at a makeshift studio, Out of The Bachs offers 12 amazing self-penned songs with a sound ahead of its time. Pure teenage-angst vocals, crashing Rickenbackers, fuzz outbursts, killer moody tracks... Sadly, all previous reissues of the album failed to capture the true sound of the original, until the Time-Lag label reissued it in 2011 with remastered sound from a pristine original vinyl copy. This reissue uses the same audio master as the out-of-print Time-Lag edition. File next to The Rising Storm, The Fantastic Dee-Jays, The Savages. Includes insert with detailed liner notes and rare photos. LP $15 SKU:13382

CYKLE -ST ( US garage / psych 69)Label:OUT SIDER Top notch US garage / psychedelic album from 1969: Vox organ, fuzzy guitars, snotty vocals and impressive songwriting / recording quality. Featuring all-time acid-punk classics such as “It’s Her” and “Walkout Of My Mind”. Cykle was formed in 1968, North Carolina, when gifted musician and songwriter Jimmy Sossamon (previously in famous local band The Young Ones) heard a local group, the Glory Cykle. He was so impressed that he approached them about becoming their manager. The band -- guitarists Ralph Stevens and Jeff Hardin, bassist Grady Pope, organist Rick Wilson, and drummer/vocalist Ken Allen -- practiced at the studio Sossamon had built in his parent's garage, and by the end of the year, Sossamon took up the drummer’s seat to free up Allen as lead vocalist. Band’s name was shortened to Cykle and in early 1969 they began recording an album consisting entirely of Sossamon originals. The resultant eponymous LP was released later that year as a private pressing of 500 copies on the band’s own Label Records. But despite the 1969 release date, “Cykle” sounds straight from the 1966-67 garage-punk-psychedelic book. *Insert with detailed liner notes *LP housed in an old- school- style tip- on sleeve. “When the most popular garage bands of the day were moving further and further away from the genre’s “less is more” production ideal, Cykle offered a raw, authentic take on what garage rock was meant to sound like.” - Psychedelized. LP $15 SKU:17886

ROBBIE AND THE WEREWOLF- Live at the Waleback (Bizarre 1964 monster inspired oddity)-Label:GEAR FAB OK, so here we have one of the weirdest and most bizarre albums ever recorded. Pretty much unsurpassed in its level of incredible strangeness, this ultra-rare album from the early sixties (1964) California coffee- house circuit is like no other. Robbie is a folksinger of the frantic variety with a fetish for monsters. This inspired some of the most bizarre songs ever committed to vinyl. It was at The Wale Back in LA one heady night in 1964, that Robbie's solo act was captured for posterity by engineer Reice Hamel, now renowned as a pioneer of live recording techniques. The patrons lapped up Robbie's act although some of the more faint-hearted may have experienced a frisson of terror as he prowled amongst them, sweat dripping from his beard, laughing maniacally, during his atmospheric 'Dracula' number. With his long red hair and matching beard, Robbie was a striking performer with a manic stage presence, acting out his songs as much as singing them. His set consisted of his original songs and uniquely reworked versions of folk standards, played on a beat-up twelve-string guitar. Robbie would later join The Brain Train in 1967 and his wife Barbara “Sandi” Robison would become the lead vocalist for The Peanut Butter Conspiracy (PBC) . Featuring liner notes from Alan Brackett of The PBC and UK collector extraordinaire Gray Newell. LP $15 SKU:19481

SANDHY & MANDHY - Para Castukis (Rare 70s psych ) 60s style gatefold jacket - Label:LION Here at last is a chance to discover why people have been willing to pay a very steep price to hear Sandhy & Mandhy, the duo who were not a duo, the band who were not a band, creators of perhaps the rarest and most expensive album from Argentina. To tell the story of Sandhy & Mandhy, we have to go back to 1967, when Alberto Infusino (Sandhy) and Alberto Vanasco (Mandhy) began their musical partnership in the beat band The New Free Men. Like many bands of that time, Los Shaker1s and Los Walkers, for example, the New Free Men played covers of songs by the Zombies, Animals, Kinks, Yardbirds, Doors, and so on, in clubs and at parties. Yet at the same time, Infusino and Vanasco started to play their own compositions, with a national touch to the music. Let’s let Vanasco (Mandhy) take up the story: “ In 1969, we went to talk with Billy Bond, chief of La Pesada del Rock Roll, to ask about the chance to make an album. Bond said that he was not looking for a band, but for a duo who sang songs in Spanish... So, we called some friends to play together, and we called the project Sandhy & Mandhy.” They recorded the album in three hours, with a full band (Farfisa organ, congas, drums, bass, and guitars)‹one take of each song. Instead of a demo, they decided to press an LP: the company (Phonalex) pressed 110 LPs in total, which the band gave out at gigs. Sandhy & Mandhy were one of the first bands in South America bring a rebellious attitude to the music scene‹all this in a period of military repression, when forced haircuts in the streets were a common occurrence. Although they broke new ground, success was not their fate. And so thirty-eight years after the burst of improvisation that was Sandhy & Mandhy, the rest of the world can finally take a taste of their dark, groovy, beat-influenced psychedelia (that fuzz guitar on the excellent Lluvia). At times introspective and acoustic, at others manic and ramshackle in the best way, it1s quite a discovery. Now, on to the presentation‹the highest quality mastering and pressing (done at Acoustech Mastering/RTI in California, the same people who master and press every title that audiophile label Classic Records makes); the resulting LP is housed in a poly-lined sleeve, inside an ultra-heavy 1960's style gatefold jacket, which is housed in a loose-fitting plastic sleeve. Inside the sleeve, you will find an insert with full details on Sandhy & Mandhy, including lyrics in Spanish and English, printed on 100% recycled paper. The LP labels are replicas of the originals. A top of the line pressing all the way. Limited edition of 800 copies. LP $10 SKU:19499

SEA-DERS - ANTHOLOGY ( 60s Lebanese Rock ) Booklet contains liner notes by Mike Stax -Label:GROOVIE Contains all known grooving and infectious Middle Eastern inflected rock/beat tracks from the Sea-ders (or Cedars, depending on which 45 label you look at), Lebanon's top musical export to the world. Eight dynamic tracks, with driving rhythms, blazing electric bouzouki (or oud?), recorded between 1966-1968. Fantastic! Many groups have used elements of Eastern music to add mystery and exotica to their sound; the Sea-ders didn't flirt with foreign culture—they tapped right into the source. Decca Records contacted the group and offered them a record deal in the UK. Well, that didn't pan out, making the band's EP a very rare item indeed, despite being one of the most exciting releases of the era. Faced with studio bills from Decca, they sold their instruments and equipment and moved back to Beirut, leaving this perfect microcosm of exotic '60s pop in their wake. Liner notes by Mike Stax (Ugly Things Magazine). Limited pressing of only 500 copies. This time around, vinyl is mastered at 45 RPM, for maximum fidelity. The Sea-ders would only record eight tracks, but what amazing tracks they are! LP $13 SKU:8849

SIGN OFFS - s/t kick-ass punk rock) SAALE -Label:DISASTER COLOR VINYL with one non-CD bonus track. What the hell is it about young kids from culturally dead suburban wastelands that makes for such goddamn good rock? Case in point: Cleveland's The SIGN OFFS. Whereas most punk kids are happy just to dress the part and play in useless, shitty bands until banking or insurance sales brings dreary normality to their doors, this bunch of high-schoolers from way-the-hell out on the far-west side of town, knocking out quickie rock'n'roll burners inspired by the usual suspects, (D-Generation, Turbonegro, G'nR, US Bombs, AC/DC, Dead Boys) quickly matured into a powerhouse live band.
