ATHANOR - Flashback (Beatle'esque, fuzzed-out psych) SAALE! Label:GUERSSEN Chicago, early 70s. Greg Herriges is obsessed with Lennon, 12-string guitars and far-out psychedelic sounds. Rick Vittenson is a Beach Boys-Hollies-Who fanatic who writes for Crawdaddy! magazine. Both had previously played in several garage-college bands during the 60s. Combining their mutual love for Sixties music, Athanor was born. With the help of top studio musicians, they recorded and self-released three 45s between 1973 and 1975 (the first one produced by Mark Breyer, with whom Rick had played in pre-Skooshny band Brevity) which are now highly sought-after by fans of obscure psychedelic pop. ONE OF HOURS-When You Hear The Music, It’s Yours-(late ‘60s US Pepperish U.S garage psych)-Label:OUT-SIDER Famous for their 'Psychedelic Illusion' 7", US garage-psych band One Of Hours formed in 1966. After adding guitar player Bob Willcutt to their line-up, they released their second 7", 'Feel The Pain'/'Psychedelic Illusion', in 1967. Work then began on their album 'When You Hear The Music, It's Yours'. Fuelled by the creative force of band member Shawn Foreman (who would create the cult electro/disco project Transistor-Jet in the '80s), the group renamed to Dandelion Wine, went in true psychedelic mode, experimenting with unusual recording techniques. RAUNCH - Total Raunch (savage '60s heavy fuzz )-Label:BREAK A WAY Mid-'60s garage-punk from Ossining, NY. In the short time of the band's existence, The Raunch released one scorching 7-inch, contributed a cool Paul Revere cover to the collectable local 'Battle Of The Bands' compilation and recorded notable covers of 'Hey Joe' and John D. Loudermilk's 'Tobacco Road'. This one-sided LP collects all those five tracks and adds a 4-page info sheet, including rare pix. The two songs from the single, originally issued by Bazaar Records, are the crude garage track 'A Little While Back' b/w the more moody 'I Say You're Wrong'. SCAMPOLO- UNDER THE RAINBOW (1968 Hungarian rock/soul) Label:MOIRAS Limited edition of 330 copies, housed in a nice gatefold sleeve! It's a twist of fate that it took the first rock'n'roll band that reached star status in Hungary 48 years to release their first album. At the beginning of the 1960s the band was the most popular among the few Hungarian rock'n'roll groups, their shows' atmosphere was often quite heated. The band existed until the early '80s except for some short pauses and with a few changes in the lineup. The first Scampolo album represents the period between 1968 and 1970 when they left their rock'n'roll roots behind and played a repertoire that was unique in Hungary. It consisted partly of British and American progressive rock and soul hits, partly of their own compositions. These were collected from studio, rehearsal and concert recordings. LP $22 SKU:24235
