DATURA4-HAIRY MOUNTAIN- AMAZING STARBURST VINYL-Label:ALIVE Rock n Roll fans - please welcome - Hairy Mountain the second album from West Australia’s Datura4.Building upon the ‘guitars to infinity’ approach of Datura4’s acclaimed debut LP ‘Demon Blues’, ‘Hairy Mountain’ is ten solid tracks celebrating an unbridled joy for rock’n’roll with a nod to the spiritual presence of their hairy Oz Rock forefathers. Hairy Mountain’ is the culmination of a lifetime of musical archaeology and the ongoing search for the never ending riff. It’s the brainchild of Dom Mariani (frontman of Australian garage rockers The Stems and Power Posters DM3) and Greg Hitchcock (former You Am I and one-time New Christs’ guitarist), and they’re new full-tilt boogie, psych and prog combo calling it Datura4. – BLURTThrowback in the best possible way, the way you can go to some underground club in your nearest big city and see kick-ass rockers throwing it down like it was 1972. But unlike those amateurs, Datura4 is the real deal. In Mariani and Hitchcock, it has the pedigree. – UNDER THE RADAR.Elements of hard-lined blues remain evident, but are primarily smoothed out by a dominant, free-formed ’70s psych sparsity. Those sprawling soundscapes themselves threaten explosive outbreaks yet are reigned in further with a defining boogie, a heavy footstomp of swagger that sets a more contemporary course. – Johnny Nail / ROLLING STONE AU LP $18 SKU:17966

WITCHES- A Haunted Person's Guide To ( psych - Label:ALIVE "The best band that you never heard" of is a term that is commonly thrown around with much ado but in the case of The Witches it may well be true. Born in Detroit in 1996 from the mind of bass player Troy Gregory (Dirtbombs, Killing Joke) and with the help of fellow Michigan natives John Nash (Electric Six, LCD Soundsystem) on guitar, and producer Jim Diamond (White Stripes, Von Bondies) on electric twelve-string, The Witches went on to record five amazing albums between 1996 and 2006, with the help of a revolving line-up of Michigan musicians, before vanishing into thin air. "A Haunted Person's Guide To The Witches" compiles material from the band's five albums, and is a comprehensive introduction to the band's unique sound. CD $10 SKU:12502

LAUGH WHILE YOU CAN, MONKEY BOY - VA w Spacemen 3 Brain Jonestown Massacre - Label:ALIVE This compilation showcases fifteen songs by cutting edge psychpop artists Brian Jonestown Massacre , ultra-punkers U.S. Bombs, and garage popsters Amanda Jones, Ten High and The Streetwalkin' Cheetahs. It also includes new work by recognized artists such as ex-Spacemen 3 members Sonic Boom (EAR) (with a traclk not available elsewhere) and Pete Bain (Alpha Stone). The diverse comp also includes the legendary Mick Farren (Deviants), and the recent deliveries of acts like hardcore godfathers RF7, the acoustic rock of Thomas Anderson and punk-popsters Stop. This is true independent music ranging from esoteric to pop and punk, held together by the quality of expression in each performance. A kaleidoscope of what underground rock culture is about: passion, fun, love and rebellion. LAST COPIES COMP CD $3 SKU:2099

GENERATION XLive At Sheffield (1978 recordings) Label:MUNSTER RECORDS (SPAIN) First vinyl release of this live show from December 1978, featuring mainly tracks from Generation X's first two albums and displaying all the angst and attitude of one of the original UK punk bands. 180-gram LP. "It is hard to realize that on December 10th, 2016, it will be 40 years since Generation X first took to the stage. I was the guitarist and Live At Sheffield is a recording from a later show in 1978, but still has the angst and rock'n'roll spirit that Generation X were known for. Always slightly apart from the initial punk movement with the good looks and fantastic playing, Generation X relished the live shows but up to the end of 1979, when I left the band, had only done a few tours of the United Kingdom, a couple of dates in Paris and a week in Japan. So the amount of people who actually saw Generation X live is pretty limited. Live At Sheffield gives you a chance to enjoy the sound of a Generation X gig (along with fake audience) and feel the power of what we did live. The songs are from the first two albums plus a strange medley of '100 Punks' and 'Kleenex' and the cover of 'Shakin' All Over'. Although the band only lasted three years, the music stands the test of time, and with Billy Idol's later success as a solo artist in America this recording has somewhat of an historical aspect. Billy continues to play quite a few of these songs live to this day and it may be interesting to compare, although comparisons are deadly. . . . At the time of this show Generation X had been on Top Of The Pops numerous times, but this was punk and nobody thought about anything but the moment. Playing live every night in a different town has a certain momentum, and like a great photograph, to capture a moment in time of rock'n'roll is just as visual. Play this loud, as Mark Twain once said about Wagner's music, 'It's better than it sounds'." --Bob "Derwood" Andrews LP $22 SKU:17599

GENERATION X-Sweet Revenge- (1979 recordings ) Label:MUNSTER RECORDS (SPAIN) The third LP by Generation X's original line-up, recorded in 1979 and unreleased until 1998. An essential piece in the discography of one of the original UK punk bands. 180-gram LP. "In early 1979 Generation X went to the English countryside to write and 'routine' the band's third album. We felt we had a new sound, simple songs delivered with more space than most rock'n'roll, so we went into Olympic Studios in Barnes, London and began recording with the house engineer, Doug Bennett, as co-producer. Most of the songs were recorded before our tour of Japan in June '79. On our return Billy came into the studio with an outline of a song called 'Dancing With Myself'. We went to work on it and pretty much finished it quickly and we felt it was the song to lead the album, a single I guess. . . . Then I left the band at the end of the year and carried the fuckin' stack of 1/4'' master tapes around the world for many years. A year or so later they changed the band name to Gen X and re-recorded four or five songs for the album Kiss Me Deadly. Billy later released the re-recorded version of 'Dancing With Myself' for his solo career in America and the rest is history. . . . After years in storage my tapes were nearing the end of their life, so I digitized them in order to save this lost treasure. I named the album KMD Sweet Revenge. Some time later the album was released in Germany, Japan, Spain and supposedly the USA, however the release in America was quashed until Capitol Records put out their own version within a 3-CD anthology of the band, using some different mixes of the songs from cassette tapes. The recordings are almost complete minus a few guitar solos and final mixes. Time on Generation X had run out, but this album clearly shows the direction the band were heading and is worth documenting and certainly worth playing. For your pleasure . . . Sweet Revenge." --Bob "Derwood" Andrews LP $22 SKU:17600

GERMS - Germicide- Live at the Whiskey 1977 180 gram -Label:BOMP Records Live at The Whiskey 77 We are seldom lucky enough to hear one of our favorite bands at the earliest state of development. In the case of the Germs, LA's most radical punk band, someone was fortunately on hand with a remote 8-track studio to record their very first gig. Part of Kim Fowley's 1977 "Punk Rock Weekend" at the Whiskey a Go Go, it's a rough, honest, eye-opening set, showing the Germs as they really were. Originally released in a limited vinyl edition in 1980, Germicide quickly went out of print, then was issued cassette-only by ROIR. Now on 180 gram vinyl for the first time in more than 15 years. LP $15 SKU:2051

GIANT CRAB- A Giant Crab Comes Forth ( 70s Calif psych ) SAALE -Label:SWEET DANDELION (UK) Debut album by this band from Santa Barbara, California. A five man band which included three brothers -- one of them being Ernie Joseph, lead guitar and vocals, who would later form and lead the psychedelic band 'Big Brother'. Highly consistent throughout, the album delivers 16 well constructed songs in a psychedelic soul vein, with catchy tunes and heavy drums; horn arrangements cater for the soul touch. While their follow-up album drifts away from their psychedelic roots, the band managed to record in this debut album one of the best records in the UNI catalogue. Limited to 500 copies, with remastered sound and preserving the original artwork. LP $10 SKU:15145

GLASS FAMILY - Electric Band ltd ed of 250 DOUBLE LP reissue - Label:MAPLEWOOD FANTASTIC DELUXE DOUBLE LP REISSUE TAKEN FROM THE ORIGINAL MASTER! DELUXE REISSUE. The Glass Family released their LP 'Electric Band' in 1968, an acid-, folk- and blues-rock album, with distorted guitars, swirling organ and dirty vocals, that since then has never been reissued until now. Along with a nice remastering of the original LP, this double vinyl package also includes a second disc full of never before heard unreleased tracks from their initial 1968 recording sessions. Standout tracks from the second disc that has a far rawer sound are 'Where'd You Get That Smile' and 'Two x Two' and includes an alternate take of 'House Of Glass'. Within the gatefold packaging of this double LP are unique band photos and a biography of the band's experiences in psychedelic 1960s Southern California. The Glass Family where a part of the 1960s cultural revolution playing gigs and hanging out with people who are now legends. GRAPHITE -CHESTNUT LOKE (69 ACID FREAKS)-Label:AUDIO ARCHIVES Graphite was a spaced-out, progressive, acid-freak band that formed at Reading University in 1969. GRAVEDIGGER V - All Black & Hairy LTD ED of 150 CLEAR BLUE VINYL! (60 style Classic cave garage ) -Label:VOXX The one proper album the band released in its lifetime, All Black and Hairy is both perfectly named and perfectly performed -- if it's nothing but a re - All Black & Hairy LTD ED of 150 CLEAR BLUE VINYL! (60 style Classic cave garage ) -vivalist approach at heart, it's such a damn entertaining one that there's no cause for complaint. With its title track taken from the appropriately goonball back catalog of Screamin' Lord Sutch and its general snot-mouthed attitude from every last Nuggets and Pebbles selection ever, about the only thing missing are the lava lamps and garage stink. Saying the band uses the right combination of fuzztone guitars and echo and heavy frug rhythms is a bit like saying the sky is blue -- it's just one of those things to be expected -- but the sheer energy and abandon present keep everything from simply retracing the past to no point. Leighton's credit is for "lead screaming," and that about sums it up -- he's not so much singing as pulling off the ultimate teen-wannabe-Mick Jagger performance, only even more aggressively snotty. Ted Friedman's lead guitar solos with the right rave-up spirit and John Hanrattie keeps the core melodies going, while the Tom Ward/David Anderson rhythm section aims to get rears shaking instead of sitting. The album is half split between inspired originals (check out the concluding "Stoneage Stomp") and actual songs from the time, the latter resulting in fun versions of tracks like the Uncalled For's "Do Like Me" and Larry & the Bluenotes' "Night of the Phantom." About the only thing missing is the original studio recording of the band's best number, "It's Spooky," but anyone wanting a quick blast of '60s punk thrills filtered through later years could do much worse than to dig this one up. LP $15 SKU:16261

GREY MOUSE- Trip-Label:ANAZITISI Grey Mouse is a group of Russian musicians playing a blend of psychedelia, heavy-stoner rock and blues. The group has released three studio albums recorded on analogue equipment and with various line-ups. 'Trip' is the band's third album, featuring six tracks with English lyrics and female vocals. One of the songs from this album, the instrumental composition 'Snow (Spiral Walk)' from the album is selected for the compilation album 'Psychedelic World Music, Discovery, Vol. 1. LP $28 SKU:18182

GROUP 1850- Mother No Head - Their 45'S DBL LP 180 gram gatefold HOUSED IN MAJESTIC GATEFOLD SLEEVE WITH EXTENSIVE LINER NOTES BY MIKE STAX OF 'UGLY THINGS'- Label:PSEUDONYM COLLECTION OF ALL THEIR SINGLES (MOST OF THEM NON-LP TRACKS) + 6 UNRELEASED DEMO VERSIONS. HOUSED IN MAJESTIC GATEFOLD SLEEVE WITH EXTENSIVE LINER NOTES BY MIKE STAX OF 'UGLY THINGS'2LP 350 grams carton Gatefold sleeve packed in Japanese plastic bag. Though they were a product of the beat group age, Group 1850 were the Netherlands' first progressive band - in every sense of that word. Constantly changing, constantly evolving, Group 1850 were musical extremists on a do-or-die mission to explode all expectations. Sparks flew, ideas flared, feedback swirled through misty nights, the dead walked, skeletons danced, flies buzzed, mountains fell, words rained fire from angry purple skies. Group 1850 raised all kinds of Hell. My god, were they good. Although the group made two deservedly revered albums, Agemos Trip to Mother Earth (1968) and Paradise Now (1969), some of their best work can be found on their singles, where their borderline insane hyper-creativity was focused into highly-concentrated, radically potent three-minute songs like Misty Night, Mother No-Head, Zero, We Love Live (Like We Love You), Dont Let It Be (We Have to Do It Now), and the magnificent Have You Ever Heard. The A- and B-sides of all their singles can be found on this 2-LP set in their original mono mixes, mastered from the original tapes. A number of previously unreleased demos are also included. Pressed on 180gm vinyl, Mother No-Head: Their 45s comes packaged in a breathtaking gatefold cover with rare archival photos and liner notes by Ugly Things Mike Stax. LP $27 SKU:13750

GROUP DOUEH- Treeg Salaam (Visionary modern blues) SALE - Label:SUBLIME FREQUENCIES: WAREHOUSE FIND ONE COPY! Compiled from Group Doueh's personal cassette archives. Photos from Group Doueh archive. Group Doueh's follow-up to their now-legendary debut LP is here. While most would think it damn near impossible to top the former release, in terms of sheer "shock and awe," Treeg Salaam (trans. "Streets Of Peace"), blows hot and dusty from the infernal sand-swept dunes of the Western Sahara. Compiled from Group Doueh's personal archives, these five tracks (note: sidelong piece on the flip), are as brain-shifting in their ecstatic brilliance as any music ever heard. From the wah-stroked lead-off track to the blazing dexterity of "Ragsa Jaguar," the whole of the first side is an entrance to the lip-puckering tea den of Saharan trance heaven. Salmou Baamar's (Doueh) guitar/tinidit runs explode in cosmic shrapnel, raining down on the temporal nodes of the listener's brain. On side 2, we have a 20-minute, smoky, slow-burning, psychedelic excursion into the great unknown. A meditation on the arid and inhospitable landscape that inspires this music and its people. This is a one-time pressing of 1,500 copies. Pressed on 180 gram vinyl and comes in a gatefold full-color jacket with great photos of the musicians. LP $19 SKU:9979

GRUBERGER BROTHERS- Greetings From Reading PA - (ltd ed of 500 w. full color cover and insert with liner notes (Afrika Corps proto punk ) SAALE -Label:RERUN Mastered from the original tapes, and we even got Kenne Highland to give us his reactions to these recordings! Pressed in an edition of 500 on black vinyl, with full color cover and insert with liner notes. Jay and Solomon Gruberger were born to play music. They formed the legendary proto-punk/living room band O.Rex in 1973, when younger brother Jay was a mere 12 years old. Future Gizmos’ lead singer Kenne Highland joined the band for sporadic jam sessions in the Gruberger's Brooklyn home. Beating most punks to the punch, O.Rex managed to release a three song maxi-single on their own Oral Records in late 1976. By that time, Kenne was a member of the Gizmos as well as a full time Marine! Within a few months, Kenne and the Grubergers would meet Kim Kane of the Slickee Boys, and it was this meeting of the minds that would form the Afrika Korps. They immediately set about recording what would become their monster, 22 song debut LP. Music To Kill By was released to great critical acclaim in late 1977, but the Grubergers would soon part ways with the rest of the Korps. LP $10 SKU:15188

HACIENDA - Big Red and Barbacoa ( prod by Dan of the Black Keys ) (YELLOW VINYL ltd ed last copies ) Label:ALIVE BIG RED & BARBACOA is the second album by South Texas' HACIENDA, and like its predecessor Loud Is The Night (Alive 2008), it was produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys. Recorded on the tail-end of a year playing clubs and festivals across North America, Australia and Europe (opening for Dan Auerbach and Dr. Dog, and more recently for Alberta Cross), this new album brings heavier grooves and flavor to the '60s harmonies sound the band is known for. The result is a blend of Tex-Mex roots rock, retro-pop and R&B that can only be described as South Texas Soul. BIG RED & BARBACOA captures the attitude of a band ready to throw pretension to the roadside and play rock'n'roll the way it was intended.[BEST OF WHAT'S NEXT - FEB. 2010] ...a mix of Beach Boys-esque harmonies, classic Stax Records grooves and a guitar sound that recalls the rootsier side of '60s pop-rock with its swirling melodies and irresistible swagger. - PASTE MAGAZINEHacienda write eccentric pop songs and play them with flashes of T. Rex and the Friends-era Beach Boys. Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys produced the record with a kitchen-jam, bathroom-echo touch, like a central-Texas version of Paul McCartney's 1970 home-made solo debut - ROLLING STONE / FRICKE'S PICKSExhilarating. - THE WASHINGTON POSTHacienda has a particular ego-less way of reviving these timeless sounds, as it they invited you into their living room for a vinyl session of The Beach Boys, The Band, Gram Parsons and some mild hallucinogenics, free and easy and light as a feather. - AMERICAN SONGWRITER

HANDSOME JACK- Do What Comes Naturally - LTD ED OF150 STARBURST VINYL W DOWNLOAD - Label:ALIVE AMAZING STARBURST VINYL, this is one of the prettiest ones we’ve done. Each one slightly different, hand pressed. You will want to hang it on your wall, so get the black vinyl version too..Naturally” hits with blues fused rock and roll that truly grips you. There’s a certain charm in the mix… A real honesty that you find in those nowadaysands that are sectioned off from the mainstream… Handsome Jack deliver a confidence that only you can accept or deny. The truth isn’t for just anyone these days. The only factor that suffers with a band like Handsome Jack is the reality of the fact, that music, of any genre, suffers. There is a lot of music out ‘there’ riding invisible rays and available thru a multitude of formats and accessibilities. You gotta dig deep and find what connects with you before it’s lost in the shuffle of the beast called Right Fucking Now. As listens of “Naturally” tallied, the more and more I appreciated the release as a whole… The sorts of fondness that would not be found in a big-shot music reviewer scanning ten seconds of each track then spit out a few adjectives to coincide with that press release. Fuck that.Rock N Roll isn’t dead if you don’t want it to be. Let’s try to spend some time with a CD or record or whatever, to connect once again. Yes, it comes naturally to just hit the button to most, but not because we want to, it’s because some have too. Take some time with “Naturally”. Turn it up. Sit a while. Open up your mind and your ears. You just might like something after all without being given permissions by the industry. LP $18 SKU:16202

HAPPY KIDS - Play Their Own Songs - ltd to 300 copies SAALE -Label:GREY PAST Limited edtition 300 copies. It's a well-reported fact that The Happy Kids sneer at true musicianship. They are neither willing to compose, nor to play their instruments properly. Accordingly, at their live shows, they celebrate mass to plagiarizing whatever primitive ditty captures their attention. Ana Threat and Al Bird Dirt mangle their second-hand, second-rate equipment (a cheap, deranged Italian combo-organ and an off-key German Kaufhaus-guitar) accompanied by an audio cassette player that spits out pre-recorded beats at an inappropriate speed and volume. Yet, here it is: "The Happy Kids Play Their Own Songs"; twelve tunes out of which the duo claims the authorship of nine. The oeuvre perhaps wins through its repetitiveness (to put it mildly), which I presume Ms. Threat and Mr. Dirt understand is "art". Frankly, I do not know how they managed to assemble and record an entire album; let alone to persuade a prestigious record company - or even a third-rate pressing plant - to have it manufactured. Plus, I must admit, I am not exactly sure who on earth the producers expect to buy such a record. Still, I am delighted to file the album in my vast collection of contemporary "Rock music", as I am definite that there won't be any one like it to follow. Ever. For people interested in Suicide, the Seeds, The Cramps, DAF, Trio, Sonics, the Astronauts, Ramones, Throbbing Gristle. LP $15 SKU:13210

LEFT LANE CRUISER - Junkyard Speed Ball LTD ed w download - Label:ALIVE Left Lane Cruiser’s third album for Alive Naturalsound records could be considered, in many ways, their best effort yet. “Junkyard Speed Ball” brings in the elements of the heavy, heart thumping, trash blues stomp they’re known for, but it also showcases a wider range, with some slower numbers that will make you groove. Recorded in Detroit by Jim Diamond, Left Lane Cruiser is joined by none other than Revrend James Leg (aka John Wesley Myers) of the Black Diamond Heavies playing keyboard on five songs, with his distinctive style undoubtedly bringing a new color to the duo sound.Formed by Freddy J. Evans IV (guitar/vocals) and Brenn “Sausage Paw” Beck (drummer/percussion/vocals), and hailing from Fort Wayne IN, Left Lane Cruiser has been bringing its unique style of high octane punk blues (aka deep blues) to fans all over the world, slowly gaining recognition from the press :“Assimilates the Mississippi Delta blues laid down by guys like Big Joe Williams and Son House and cultivates it into a country punk ‘n’ blues speedball” (Popmatters). “Most say it’s a blues band, but they are also a hard rock band with a lot of Southern fried attitude. They are their own category. Call them Industrial Redneck, or Country Trash.” (Atlanta Music Guide). “Reminds me of live Cramps, RL Burnside, and even old Henry Rollins. If CBGBs was still open that would be the venue I could see Left Lane Cruiser playing” (Blogcritics). “Traffic in North Mississippi Hill Country-influenced, rough-edged, and, yes, kickass blues rock” (Blender). “ The band blends styles that wouldn’t normally be compatible, but when the two musicians come together the result is hard, rusty blues that will get you moving” (Kentucky Kernel).
