AKBAYRAM, EDIP -DOSTLAR- NEDIR NE DEGILDIR? (70s Turkish fuzz) Label:PHARAWAY SOUNDS As Turkey's political factions turned more aand more violent in the late 1970s, Buscemi-eyed Edip Akbayram was nearly beaten up by rioting audiences for daring to sing about rural points of view that were naturally critical of Istanbul's political leaders. This second album of Anatolian psychedelia, originally released in 1977, showed defiance even in its gatefold art, with a drawing of the band members seeming to grow straight out the ground, covered in plant tendrils. Akbayram poached members of Mogollar and Baris Mano's Kurtalan Ekspres to get the best fuzz breaks and hammond slams & put 'em straight in your ears. The band also tried out some mixes that pushed the vocals or a particular instrument way up front, and of course long, low, reverberant welcomes from Edip's echo-covered voice. CD $12 SKU:20586

ALL TOMORROW’s PARTY - Yoo Doo Right, Yoo Doo Slide (great JAPANESE Hendrix style guitar) -Label:ALIVE A modern acid-gobbling mélange of Hendrixian guitar, sonorous bass and hissingmaracas, performed by a Japanese space-rock trio with musical roots in the ’60s and '70s. “Music this passionate and memorable comes around butrarely, I suggest you grab a slice of the cake and have yourself a realgood time.” - Terrascope. “Dark, psychedelic, and always passionate.” – The Sentimentalist CD $10 SKU:23017

ASTRAL PROJECTION- The Astral Scene (1968 Spacey Pop/Psych-get out the lava lamps! )-Label:GEAR FAB This 1968 Pop/Psychedelic Rock album is just chock full spacey instrumentation and utilizes horns, woodwind, and string sections very much like those used in Sgt. Peppers. The theme of this release is based upon the thoughts and feelings experienced if one were to leave the physical body (Astral Projection) and become the spiritual embodiment (Astral Body). The Astral Body begins to go back into the physical body and causes one to think about The Astral Scene…..There are some very nice male and female vocals which are backed up by the great orchestration and this LP is one to set the lights down low on and turn on the Lava Lamps!!! CD $10 SKU:19613

ATHANOR - Flashback (Beatle'esque, fuzzed-out psych) SAALE! Label:GUERSSEN Chicago, early 70s. Greg Herriges is obsessed with Lennon, 12-string guitars and far-out psychedelic sounds. Rick Vittenson is a Beach Boys-Hollies-Who fanatic who writes for Crawdaddy! magazine. Both had previously played in several garage-college bands during the 60s. Combining their mutual love for Sixties music, Athanor was born. With the help of top studio musicians, they recorded and self-released three 45s between 1973 and 1975 (the first one produced by Mark Breyer, with whom Rick had played in pre-Skooshny band Brevity) which are now highly sought-after by fans of obscure psychedelic pop. All of them are featured here in stellar sound taken from the master tapes along with previously unreleased studio tracks and superb sounding home demos (1973-1981), plus a new song recorded in 2006 in the same vein as their vintage recordings. Athanors music features impressive songwriting & musicianship, a collision of Beatlesque harmony vocals, Rickenbacker & Guild 12-string guitars, occasional fuzz-wah leads, Fender Rhodes, studio effects.Psychedelic proto-power pop highly recommended to anyone into Lazy Smoke, Badfinger, Only Ones, Emitt Rhodes, Rockin Horse, Creme Soda.. Remastered sound from the original master tapes, booklet with rare pictures and liner notes by Mark Breyer from cult psych-power pop band Skooshny.

CD $5 SKU:19743

BACKBITER -GET TOGETHER (70s style punk R roll) -Label:BLUE MAN FROM URANUS Get Together Review by Becky Byrkit - Backbiter's exhilarated debut Get Together is a collection of emphatic and distinct songs that nod to punk's alliances with R&B, as well as the screamy male emoting of late-'70s rock. Guitarist/vocalist Jonathan Hall delivers original and articulate lyrics on seven of the nine cuts, most notably on the melodic "Get Together" and "Rolled," released as a coveted single by Blue Man from Uranus (and co-written with bass player Heath Seifert). Spattered with competent, even magic acoustic moments, Get Together is a great record for remembering that in punk'n'roll, drums mean everything, thanks to a typically brilliant (and mercifully unburied) contribution by Claw Hammer's Bob Lee. CD $10 SKU:25258

BACKBITER- Time Again /Magnet Heart Suite (70s style punk R roll) - DBL CD Label:BLUE MAN FROM URANUS MEMBERS OF AMGRY SAMOANS, CLAW HAMMER & ROTTERS SOUND LIKE THE WHO. WON BEST HARD ROCK/METAL BAND IN LA WEEKLY. CD $10 SKU:25266

BAINS, LEE - There is a BOmb in Gilead (Gram Parsons, the Allman Brothers, Muscle Shoals, early Skynrd, Canned Heat, Creedence and all that Southern boogie goodness, digipack CD - Label:ALIVE Hailing from Birmingham, Alabama, LEE BAINS III & THE GLORY FIRES are the latest accomplished outfit to emerge from Alive Naturalsound. "There is a Bomb in Gilead" – which is a lyric of a traditional spiritual about the salvation of the soul (the “balm”, not “bomb”) that Bains misheard as a child – incorporates some of the most iconic regional styles of American music. With a nod to Jim Ford, Gram Parsons, the Allman Brothers, Muscle Shoals, early Skynrd, Canned Heat, Creedence and all that Southern boogie goodness, "There is a Bomb in Gilead" sees Lee Bains III & The Glory Fires deconstruct the music of the Deep South, strip it down and reassemble it, to make a righteous ruckus that sits at the vanguard of the vernacular. ( NOTE - CD and lp have the same tracks. ) CD $5 SKU:13826

BATORS, STIV-Disconnected (80s garage pop- Collectors edition w bonus tracks and alt cover)-Label:BOMP In December of 1980, Bomp released this groundbreaking album by Stiv Bators, recently (though never permanently) departed from The Dead Boys. CD $10 SKU:16727

BATORS, STIV- L.A. Confidential (DEAD BOYS) Features a 24 page booklet with liner notes and rare photos. -Label:BOMP Records In addition to Disconnected, Stiv recorded a number of 45s during his days with Bomp, as well as some unreleased sessions, demos (including a never-released studio session with Jimmy Pursey of Sham 69 and members of the Runaways, produced by Kim Fowley!), recently unearthed studio recordings, and alternate mixes that remained in the can until after his death. BATORS, STIV- L.A L.A (DEAD BOYS FRONTMAN) Label:BOMP Records As the frontman for the Dead Boys, Stiv Bators terrorized audiences with his snotty, in-your-face punk rock style. But after the Dead Boys, Bators embarked on a musical journey that saw him touch upon new wave (the Wanderers), goth rock (the Lords of the New Church), and power pop (during a brief solo career), as well as a fling with movie acting. Born Steve Bator on October 22, 1949, in Youngstown, OH, Bators took a liking to garage rock and proto-punk early on -- a story he liked to tell is that it was he who handed Iggy Pop the jar of peanut butter that he smeared across his chest and threw around while walking on the audience during the Stooges' televised infamous 1970 rock festival in Ohio (additionally, Bators befriended the Ramones during the quartet's first Ohio performance). AMG CD $10 SKU:21942

BBQ - Tie Your Noose (King Khan 60s party music)-Label:BOMP One of Greg Shaw's last signings on BOMP records, and the the latest project from Mark Sultan (from the KING KAHN & BBQ Show, and Les Sexareenos), a man who has slept in the garage all his life. BBQ is not a group, it's the best one-man band since Wilbert Harrison (and no, we're not forgetting the Legendary Stardust Cowboy), doing a raw, soul-shaking style of pre-frat '50s/ early '60s party music--pre-frat frat rock. Take our word for it: with this crazy sound he's puttin' down, you can't sit down! A superb album. CD $5 SKU:16527

BERTIE - Algy Lord Gray (1970 Kinks influenced)-Label:SEELIE COURT A mad Kinks-influenced underground progressive masterpiece. It's as if Noel Coward, Hawkwind, The Incredible String Band, Neu, The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band and The Kinks were scrambled together in a disastrous Star Trek teleportation accident. In 1970 the Berties took over a crumbling mansion in the wilds of Wales, made this album, sent it to John Peel, and never left. They remain in Wales to this day. BORN LOSERS- CYCLE GUITARS (Davie Allen style)SAALE!-Label:MEAN DISPOSITION In these times of copious record releases, it was sort of strange that the Born Losers -a popular and already veteran band, with three excellent and successful singles under their belt- had still not waxed an album. It was not a matter of indolence, since their members were involved in all sorts of side projects, and their first LP confirms that the Losers were getting ripe for top-rank R'n'R. The results are exceptional indeed. Far from their early influences -namely, the sound of Davie Allan & The Arrows-, the band retains its peculiar sixties flavour, but their references have increased. The clear Arrows influence from their beginnings has now been replaced by ideas from the Challengers or the sound of the Ventures in their late Dolton records/early Liberty waxings: raw R'n'R, allied with pop melodies, jazzy touches and film music, without ever falling into corniness. The Born Losers are emerging as clear winners with this latest offering. CD $10 SKU:20655

BRAM STOKER -Heavy Rock Spectacular (1972 prog rock)Label:Talking Elephant Records Outstanding album of classic progressive rock (released in 1972), recorded by virtuoso musicians, miles ahead of Atomic Rooster, Black Widow et al. The founder and organist of Bram Stoker, Tony Bronsdon, was trained as classical musician, and didn't need to learn anything from Keith Emerson & Co. This is a unique masterpiece of progressive rock, brought to the point of perfection, with delighful organ (Hammond) solos laid over quite heavy pulsating drumming and and roaring guitars. Bram Stoker was formed in 1969 in their south coast home town of Bournemouth, England, UK. One of the early gigs was as support act for the Who at Bournemouth Pavilion. Roger Daltry asked for details of the band and invited them to record a demo album at his home in Berkshire. A few months later Bram Stoker was signed up to an independent label owned by Rolling Stones manager Tony Calder. Not to be missed! CD $10 SKU:24837

BRIMSTONE HOWL- Big Deal What’s He Done Lately (60s style fuzz garage prod by Jim Diamond) -Label:ALIVE Brand new album by Lincoln, NE's favorite garage sons, and their third for Alive records. This time the gang went to Costa Mesa, CA, to record "Big Deal. What's He Done Lately?" (the title references a quote from Johnny Ramone about Phil Spector) at The Distillery under the guidance of engineer/producer Mike McHugh (known to produce some of the most heinous, blown-out sounds this side of the galaxy, including Black Lips, Jon Spencer and Andre Williams). The result is considerably more fuzzed than their previous work with Detroit producer Jim Diamond but still pummels. The main characteristic of this album is its heat. Analog from start to finish. Recorded to tape. Mixed to tape. And from tape the wax was cut. This record sounds hot! CD $10 SKU:10949

STEVE BROWN BAND- Soul Full of Sin (70s killer rarity)-Label:SEELIE COURT Steve brown formed this outfit in 1971, and they quickly developed a tight style of cool but potent jazz rock, characterised by lengthy powerful instrumental breaks and sax, and infectious beats. This LP pieces together what should have been a debut record on Transatlantic from remaining studio tapes and acetate sources. The six tracks are pure killer, opening with ‘Hitman’ which is sung first person from the point of view of an assassin for hire; stone cold cool with a fantastic bass-line and rhythm it conjurs up early seventies nihilistic film and tv imagery. The side ends with a genuine lost anthem in ‘Shine A Light,’ epic and melancholic. The lyrics are fab, and have a worldly wise quality about them. One of the greatest bands no one has heard of, hereby rescued from slipping into the ether, despite once being on the verge of a deal with Transatlantic and garnering a massive live following in their native Newcastle area during the early to mid seventies. A completely pro band, with brilliant songs, and a unique style. In 1973, the band hit a bad patch, burnt out by extensive gigging, they crashed their Transit Tour Van on a motorway, miraculously surviving. LP $30 SKU:24688

STEVENS, MEIC - SEPTEMBER 1965: TONY PIKE SESSIONS ( lost acid folk classic) SAALE!Label:TENTH PLANET Regarded as a national treasure in his native Wales. In 1965 however he was just another Dylan/Donovan folkie. In 1965 he recorded this batch of songs to hawk around the various labels as a finished album. Unfortunately the acetates were lost. This is the first ever release of this long lost demo album. 190 Gram, vinyl only pressing including liner notes by Meic and limited to 1000 copies. LP $18 SKU:24291

Unfortunately, Alec Palao lives in San Francisco and couldn't make it! 300 copies only. LP $22 SKU:25052

SUGAR BEAR -ST (1972 super rare rural rock/swamp psych)Label:VOID A charming chunk of super rare rural rock/swamp psych from the Sunshine state, c. 1972 — released as a private pressing on the Gaff label and later bootlegged by the execrable Radioactive outfit. Sugar Bear were a four-piece from Florida featuring guitarist John McLaughlin — no, not that one (Mahavishnu John McLaughlin), another one! — named after the hip American 1970s singing and guitar playing cartoon character. The album is typically described as a blend of rural rock, and country rock. But hey, the term ''rural rock'' covers quite a lot, from swampy rock ’n' roll to country rock in the style of The Outlaws or Pure Prairie League. In this instance, Sugar Bear produced an album of high originality, defying categorization. This is a record of real depth and intelligence, covering many styles, and with some psychedelic touches to note. There is some slow and some fast material (a blend that is far from unusual), with a few Grateful Dead moves too. Still not sure? Some people say when describing this album to “think of a cross line between Jefferson Airplane and the Byrds, with drops of Santana.” Legitimate 450x copy pressing on black vinyl, with insert. LP $22 SKU:25173

"With a little help from his friends, T-Model Ford has once again walked into the studio and bettered himself." – Alan Brown / POPMATTERS

"A far more interesting recording because of its "impurities" -- paradoxically, making it a far more "authentic" blues record because it is linked to multiple historic traditions simultaneously. It’s exponentially more enjoyable and exciting as blues than anything coming out of Chicago in the 21st century." – Thom Jurek / ALL MUSIC LP $25 SKU:24615

ROBBIE AND THE WEREWOLF- Live at the Waleback (Bizarre 1964 monster inspired oddity)-Label:GEAR FAB OK, so here we have one of the weirdest and most bizarre albums ever recorded. Pretty much unsurpassed in its level of incredible strangeness, this ultra-rare album from the early sixties (1964) California coffee- house circuit is like no other. Robbie is a folksinger of the frantic variety with a fetish for monsters. This inspired some of the most bizarre songs ever committed to vinyl. It was at The Wale Back in LA one heady night in 1964, that Robbie's solo act was captured for posterity by engineer Reice Hamel, now renowned as a pioneer of live recording techniques. The patrons lapped up Robbie's act although some of the more faint-hearted may have experienced a frisson of terror as he prowled amongst them, sweat dripping from his beard, laughing maniacally, during his atmospheric 'Dracula' number. With his long red hair and matching beard, Robbie was a striking performer with a manic stage presence, acting out his songs as much as singing them. His set consisted of his original songs and uniquely reworked versions of folk standards, played on a beat-up twelve-string guitar. Robbie would later join The Brain Train in 1967 and his wife Barbara “Sandi” Robison would become the lead vocalist for The Peanut Butter Conspiracy (PBC) . Featuring liner notes from Alan Brackett of The PBC and UK collector extraordinaire Gray Newell. CD $10 SKU:19459

YANCY DERRINGER -Openers (1974 ACID ROCK w Weedburner and more) Label:GEAR FAB Yancy Derringer was a four-piece band from Wisconsin that recorded an album titled Openers in 1976. With an original pressing of only 1000 copies, the album reflected the band's live act and creative talents in seven original songs. The sound of Yancy Derringer was similar to that of some of the more hard driven southern U.S. rock acts of the day such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker Band, Ozark Mountain Daredevils and many more. After selling out the initial thousand pressings very quickly, the band ordered a second pressing, which got caught up management hassles and was delayed. This caused fans to lose interest in the band; by 1976, the group's momentum had passed Yancy Derringer broke up, leaving the world with another limited pressing album. In the late '90s, Gear Fab acquired the rights to the band's original masters and released that long lost album for fans of '70s rock to enjoy. With detailed band history and song information as in all Gear Fab releases, Yancy Derringer can now take its place in the history of American rock music. ~ Keith Pettipas, Rov CD $8 SKU:25314

BELLADONNA -Night Shade (Texas metal/hard rock 1990)Label:SHROOMANGEL Obscure Melodic Metal/Hard Rock band from Texas — featuring Robert Hampton from Hooker —with a shelved album forgotten since 1990. The tape with the album songs was rescued recently to digital treatment and added a few bonus tracks from rough demos. All of this material was recorded between 1989 and 1990. Belladonna was formed in January of 1989. By that winter the band had moved to Nashville for a production deal that went sour. The experience inspired the writing of 'Watching You,' 'Power Surge', and 'Once Again.' Upon returning to Houston the band began playing out, getting radio airplay, gaining a strong following, and by the summer of 1990 recorded a live video concert for the TV show Metallurgy. By the fall of 1990 the song 'Once Again' caught the ear of Rick Chavez (producer and leading member of the band Drive (Rampage/Rhino Records) leading the band to be courted for a recording deal. Tensions had been brewing towards the latter part of the year and the band inevitably split up with Mike and Rude leaving for Los Angeles to record 'Once Again' for Drive's "Diablero" album and eventually join forces with Drive. File Under: Melodic Heavy Metal, Glam Metal, Hard Rock. For fans of: Seduce, Odin, St. Elmo's Fire and World War III. (LIMITED TO 300 COPIES - TEXAS ROCK DYAMONDS SERIES) CD $12 SKU:24723

BERGMAN, ERIC-Modern Phonograph (1978 private press by Patron SAints mainman) DBL SAALE! Label:PATRON SAINTS Rare 1978 folk rock private press solo album from Patron Saints mainman. As part of Eric Bergman's exhaustive overview of his gentle but continual ramble through rock & roll life over the decades, the double-CD package of his two solo albums from the late '70s and early '80s lives up to the extensive work he did for various eras of the Patron Saints, not to mention Garrison. Garrison feature throughout the first solo album, Modern Phonography, released in 1978 and including the song that would be Garrison's own sole release during their lifetime, "It's in de Blood." Bergman's ear for playful arrangements is evident throughout Modern Phonography, a brisk folk-rock album that Dan Fogelberg fans of the time might have found too spiky and most incipient new wavers too mellow, a record that finds its own logic. Sending Out Signals, surfacing four years later, embraced said new wave in its own understated way -- graphics feature computer typography and punch cards -- and is definitely a crisper, punchier album all around, as reflective of an older generation's embrace of newer possibilities, as everyone from the Police (a definite role model for songs like "You Can't Have Your Cake and Eat It Too") to Steve Miller showed around the same time. A slightly thin sound throughout betrays the low-budget circumstances, but Bergman and his collaborators give it all a fair bash and he sounds in fine voice. Each disc on the reissue contains a variety of bonus tracks, with the Modern Phonography cuts reaching back almost five years previously to include otherwise unheard songs via solo demos like "Borrowed Time" and "Fish Out of Water." The Sending Out Signals extras similarly reach back a touch, with a Garrison version of the title track recorded in 1979. AllMusic Review by Ned Raggett CD $5 SKU:24626

BLACK LIPS -SING IN A WORLD THAT'S FALLING APART- SAALE! Label:FIRe On their ninth studio album, 'Sing In A World That's Falling Apart', we hear the baddest kids of 21st Century rock'n'roll at their grimiest, most dangerous and equipped with the best collection of songs since the aughts. They roll on with an unapologetic southern-fried twang, pacing the beast, every now and then dropping a psycho howl into the rubber room madness lurking underneath the truckstop fireworks. CD $10 SKU:24668

BLUNSTONE,COLIN -I Dont Believe in Miracles (70s ZOMBIES leader)-Label:Talking Elephant Records Colin Blunstone needs little introduction: he was a key member of The Zombies, and participated on various albums with The Alan Parsons Project. An excellent 16-song compilation assembled from Colin Blunstone's first three Epic solo albums. The individual albums, especially “One Year” and “Ennismore,” are worth owning intact, but this is a nice place to start. Blunstone possesses one of the most unique and underrated voices in contemporary music. This collection showcases both his voice and his considerable writing talents. BONGZILLA -WEEDSCONSIN (stoner psych)-Label:HEAVY PSYCH SOUNDS On the fringe of chaos, in the Year of the Pandemic, the Cannabeast has awoken!! Bongzilla is back with a full length album, 16 years since their last record. These "Pioneers of Weed Metal" would like to present 'Weedsconsin' to the universe. An album written by the three long standing original members of Bongzilla - Muleboy (bass, vocals), Spanky (guitar), and Magma (drums). Recorded and mixed by the late John Hopkins at Future Apple Tree Studios in Rock Island, Illinois in October 2020. These six tracks will blow your mind! In a single instant you are contaminated by the classic weed-infected sounds the band is known for, while also finding new elements mixed into the bowl. In the unique piece that is 'Weedsconsin', Bongzilla delivers heavy doses of crushing stoner doom and psychedelic space rock that sets it apart from earlier material. (That's why HPS Records is the perfect label to release this stuff). This record travels down a path of heavy riffs, mind-expanding jams, sonic tones, and stomping beats in the band's first release as a thunderous three piece, with Muleboy moving from guitar to bass. Approaching these songs as a three piece has created more space musically and allowed the band to showcase their musicianship in a different way. It results in a sound that is very heavy, along the lines of 'Gateway' tone-wise, but sonically more clear. The album is mastered by Carl Saff at Saff Mastering in Chicago, Illinois, and Eli Quinn (Madison, Wisconsin) is the artist behind the astounding cover art. 'Weedsconsin' is dedicated to the memory of John Hopkins. CD $15 SKU:24514

SPOILS OF WAR - ST (PRE MORMOS PSYCH )60s DOUBLE-LP with POP-UP GATEFOLD SLEEVE and a BONUS 7-INCH! Label:WAH WAH A fantastic release offering the complete late '60s recordings from US pre-MORMOS outfit SPOILS OF WAR. Before relocating to France, where he formed the highly regarded prog/psych-folk unit MORMOS in the early '70s, American musician James Cuomo was the creative force of The Spoils Of War. This interesting band combined psychedelic rock with adventurous electronic experimentation, comparable to f.i. The United States Of America/Joe Byrd And The Field Hippies and 50 Foot Hose, with a dash of folkrock due to the contributions from female vocalist Annie Hat. Back in the day the band only released two rare 7-inches, but thanks to the -now out of print- releases from Shadoks Records, Spoils Of War achieved cult status afterall. Now this deluxe Wah-Wah Records double-LP collects the remastered '60s studio recordings from the band, complete with previously unissued material, making for a splendid release. Also included are a repress of the debut 7-inch, a sticker, full colour pix, and liner notes from Jim Cuomo and Klemen Breznikar (It's Psychedelic Baby). Essential for psych lovers and collectors everywhere! LP $40 SKU:24156

TELESCOPES -THIRD WAVE (Random color vinyl) ltd ed of 200-Label:Weisskalt Records Originally released in 2002 on Double Agent Records, 'Third Wave' heralded the return of The Telescopes after a 10 year hiatus. With Lawrie's innovative experimentation of computer technology (contemporary at the time) amongst other influences outside of the formal music studio environment, the consequence is an album exquisitely divergent from its predecessors. 19 years later in 2021, Weisskalt Records are delighted to present the long awaited and oft requested 'Third Wave' reissue featuring new album art, another testament to its long abiding resonance and relevance. To this day, The Telescopes remain an enigmatic entity, continually pushing the boundaries of sonic possibility. "Third Wave saw the iconic space rock of The Telescopes revived for a third studio album in 2002. The aptly titled 'Third Wave' embraced ambience and texture to create a sound world that was simultaneously becalming and disorientating. The album marks The Telescopes as a house of many rooms, pushing the boundaries of sonic possibilities. Full-on head music with a hallucinogenic agenda." ~Norman Records. Limited to 250 copies.
