REDUCERS-Let’s Go (70s w catchy melodies and killer licks) Label:RAVE ON 29 TRACK MUST-HAVE COMP! REDUX compiles the best of The Reducers first 3 LPs in one astounding package.Formed in late 1978, Connecticut's Reducers wowed thousands of fans with blazing tempos, catchy melodies and killer licks. \"The Reducers deftly execute that timeless musical somersault: they release rage and frustration via barbed guitar lines, growling vocals and pointed wit." - Boston Globe LP $14 SKU:24405

REDUCERS-Cruise to Nowhere (70s w catchy melodies and killer licks) Label:RAVE ON 1985 followup to Let’s Go. Inner sleeve features unique art and full lyrics100% analog mastering and pressing. "There were absolutely no gimmicks, false pretenses towards stardom, or slick attitude; they were the real deal." - AllMusic, Cruise To Nowhere was the result of two weeks in the studio with a handful of songs, some finished, most unfinished and some unwritten. The resulting LP was surprisingly consistent given the haphazard nature of the recording, and college radio once again picked up on the album's standout track "Fistfight at the Beach." Another regional tour followed, and the wear and tear of the road soon shown its strain on the boys from New London. It would be another 3 years until The Reducer's next release.
LP $14 SKU:24472

REDUCERS-Guitar Bass, Drums (70s w catchy melodies and killer licks) Label:RAVE ON Triumphant final LP featuring the anthemic "Don't Ya Wanna Rock" and "My Problem" with guest vocals from Mark Mulcahy (Miracle Legion, Polaris).
These 11 tunes sizzle, with revved-up guitars cruising along over taut bass and spot-on drums drawn from the garage- and pub-rock traditions. The guitar riffs are tight and loud, and the melodies take unerring aim at that part of your brain that feeds them onto an endless loop for your continued (and continual) listening pleasure. LP $14 SKU:24475

TOMS - Applestation (60s style Beatlesque powerpop nuggets)LAST FEW! Label:FRODIS This newly recorded album containing 14 new tracks of Beatlesque powerpop nuggets is a limited pressing for fans of Temples, Tame Impala and 60s psych-pop. Grammy songwriter-producer Tommy Marolda continues to release The TOMS every few years while supplying his production and songwriting services to major acts like Imagine Dragons, Orianthi (Michael Jackson), Richie Sambora (Bon Jovi) and many others. CD $15 SKU:19508

TOMS - 1979 Sessions (POWERPOP)Label:FUTUREMAN "For many years, Tommy Marolda has been a versatile member of the American music industry: a multi-instrumentalist, producer, engineer, composer, Grammy-nominated songwriter...the list goes on. But record nerds like me know Tommy because of a single weekend in 1979. He was scheduled to record demos with the Smithereens in his New Jersey home studio, but their last-minute cancelation gave Tommy a small window to record something of his own. After three days of hitting the record button and dashing back to his instruments, Tommy had more than 30 slabs of pop perfection on tape, 12 of which became his seminal power pop LP 'The Toms'. Other tracks from that weekend session have trickled out via reissues of 'The Toms' over the years, but little did anyone know Tommy recorded enough material to fill up three long players! Presented here are the last of the 1979 Toms sessions. Savor them like the rare commodities that they are."

UGLY THINGS- 46 THE EQUALS-Label: On the cover this time: THE EQUALS the dynamic multi-racial London group famous for songs like “Baby Come Back” and “Police on My Back,” but whose catalog runs much deeper, as our lengthy interview with lead singer DERV GORDON explains. Also featured this issue, Curt Boettcher’s innovative folk-pop group THE GOLDEBRIARS, Southern California biker rock badass SIMON STOKES, THE BYRDS, THE BALLOON FARM (A Question of Temperature), pre-Dictators ‘70s rockers TOTAL CRUDD, Harvey Kubernik’s examination of BOB DYLAN’s John Wesley Harding album (which turns 50 in December), occult rocker GEOF CROZIER, Texas-to-California garage rockers THE VISIONS, New Jersey’s MODS and the mysterious Revelation VII label, and a mad interview with the late, great CAPTAIN BEEFHEART. Also we reveal the 12 “rejected” tracks from Lenny Kaye’s original NUGGETS compilation, plus the FLAMIN’ GROOVIES saga continues into the “Shake Some Action” years, and of course there’s our acclaimed, info-packed reissue and book review sections. BOOKS & MAGS $12 SKU:19379

UGLY THINGS- 55 MAGIC FERN, BRIAN JONES Label: In this issue we detail the history of the Magic Fern, one of the key bands in Seattle’s psychedelic music scene in 1966-68. Photographer Eric Hayes shares his journey through the 1960s, along with some remarkable rare photos of the Yardbirds live onstage in 1966, and the Stones in the studio in early 1969—their last sessions with Brian Jones. David Holzer provides new insight into Brian’s musical expeditions in Morocco and the making of the talismanic album Brian Jones Presents the Pipes of Pan at Joujouka. Tim Stegall talks at length with Bun E Carlos about the early days of Cheap Trick—the first installment of a two-part feature. Phil Milstein explores the origins of the Velvet Underground’s name. Also: an appreciation of dark country master Porter Wagoner, Scandinavian beat merchants the Beachers (once billed as “Sweden’s ugliest group”!), King Records R&B icon Otis Williams, Bay Area garage band the Mockers (whose members included a teenage Carlos Santana), enigmatic DIY folkie Scott Seskind, South America’s Los Shakers, UK psych icons July, Budapest beat group Hungaria, and the wild saga of ace Swedish garage revivalists the Crimson Shadows. And of course acres of reviews of all the latest reissues and rock ‘n’ roll related books Mike Stax BOOKS & MAGS $12 SKU:24017

BOB FRANK-ST (1972 stoner rock)Label:LITA Originally released in 1972 on Vanguard Records, Bob Frank’s self titled debut album took elements of Dylan, Johnny Cash, and Ian Tyson and filtered it through a pot-smoked haze infused with Frank’s long-time friend, Memphis guru Jim Dickinson. Dickinson and Frank shared a mutual admiration that ran so deep that on Dickinson’s own 1972 debut album Dixie Fried (released on Atlantic Records) he recorded one of Bob’s songs, ‘Wild Bill Jones.’ Despite the Dickinson/Memphis connection, Bob Frank’s only LP for Vanguard has remained a forgotten, hard to find vinyl relic.
Carefully re-mastered from the original tapes, historical maverick (and noted expert on the Memphis scene) Alec Palao recently interviewed Frank in detail and assembled a lengthy essay for the CD and LP liner notes that detail Frank’s personal and musical journey. As Dickinson once deadpanned, “Bob went to Vietnam and Nashville. I don’t know which was worse.” It was also an itinerant period, when Frank spent many a stoned evening staggering alone through the mid-south urban gothic landscape of church steps and sleaze bars, with his guitar glued to his arm, if not an actual extension of it. Songs would emerge from dreams or drunken visions. But this was not artless acid folk, but a series of picaresque, well-sketched vignettes delivered in a clearly-enunciated vernacular, and all very much in Frank’s own style. CD $10 SKU:24165

BONGZILLA -WEEDSCONSIN (stoner psych)-Label:HEAVY PSYCH SOUNDS On the fringe of chaos, in the Year of the Pandemic, the Cannabeast has awoken!! Bongzilla is back with a full length album, 16 years since their last record. These "Pioneers of Weed Metal" would like to present 'Weedsconsin' to the universe. An album written by the three long standing original members of Bongzilla - Muleboy (bass, vocals), Spanky (guitar), and Magma (drums). Recorded and mixed by the late John Hopkins at Future Apple Tree Studios in Rock Island, Illinois in October 2020. These six tracks will blow your mind! In a single instant you are contaminated by the classic weed-infected sounds the band is known for, while also finding new elements mixed into the bowl. In the unique piece that is 'Weedsconsin', Bongzilla delivers heavy doses of crushing stoner doom and psychedelic space rock that sets it apart from earlier material. (That's why HPS Records is the perfect label to release this stuff). This record travels down a path of heavy riffs, mind-expanding jams, sonic tones, and stomping beats in the band's first release as a thunderous three piece, with Muleboy moving from guitar to bass. Approaching these songs as a three piece has created more space musically and allowed the band to showcase their musicianship in a different way. It results in a sound that is very heavy, along the lines of 'Gateway' tone-wise, but sonically more clear. The album is mastered by Carl Saff at Saff Mastering in Chicago, Illinois, and Eli Quinn (Madison, Wisconsin) is the artist behind the astounding cover art. 'Weedsconsin' is dedicated to the memory of John Hopkins. CD $19 SKU:24514

BORN LOSERS- CYCLE GUITARS (Davie Allen style)SAALE!-Label:MEAN DISPOSITION In these times of copious record releases, it was sort of strange that the Born Losers -a popular and already veteran band, with three excellent and successful singles under their belt- had still not waxed an album. It was not a matter of indolence, since their members were involved in all sorts of side projects, and their first LP confirms that the Losers were getting ripe for top-rank R'n'R. The results are exceptional indeed. Far from their early influences -namely, the sound of Davie Allan & The Arrows-, the band retains its peculiar sixties flavour, but their references have increased. The clear Arrows influence from their beginnings has now been replaced by ideas from the Challengers or the sound of the Ventures in their late Dolton records/early Liberty waxings: raw R'n'R, allied with pop melodies, jazzy touches and film music, without ever falling into corniness. The Born Losers are emerging as clear winners with this latest offering. CD $10 SKU:20655

BREAKUP SOCIETY - So Much Unhappiness (hook laden poprock ) Label:GET HIP Delivering tough but hook-laden pop/rock with lyrics that merge the witty and the cynical, the Pittsburgh-based band the Breakup Society pick up where leader Ed Masley's former band, the Frampton Brothers left off...literally. the Breakup Society's story began when vocalist, rhythm guitarist, and songwriter Masley, lead guitarist Sean Lally, and bassist Ray Vasko headed to Mesa, AZ, to record a Frampton Brothers album with producer and percussionist Bob Hoag, who had formerly played drums with the group during his days in Pittsburgh. CD $10 SKU:14872

BRIMSTONE HOWL- Big Deal What’s He Done Lately (60s style fuzz garage prod by Jim Diamond) -Label:ALIVE Brand new album by Lincoln, NE's favorite garage sons, and their third for Alive records. This time the gang went to Costa Mesa, CA, to record "Big Deal. What's He Done Lately?" (the title references a quote from Johnny Ramone about Phil Spector) at The Distillery under the guidance of engineer/producer Mike McHugh (known to produce some of the most heinous, blown-out sounds this side of the galaxy, including Black Lips, Jon Spencer and Andre Williams). The result is considerably more fuzzed than their previous work with Detroit producer Jim Diamond but still pummels. The main characteristic of this album is its heat. Analog from start to finish. Recorded to tape. Mixed to tape. And from tape the wax was cut. This record sounds hot! CD $10 SKU:10949

BUCKLEY, TIM--Lady, Give Me Your Key: The Unissued 1967 Solo Acoustic Sessions-LAST ONES! Label:LITA In 1967, the face of rock was changing. In that year alone there were debut albums from The Velvet Underground, The Doors, and Pink Floyd, to name a few. The Beatles had combined orchestration with their music—the result was Sgt. Peppers in June, the same month that Tim Buckley recorded Goodbye & Hello. Available here for the first time are these newly discovered master tapes, recorded by Goodbye & Hello’s producer Jerry Yester, along with an ultra-rare acetate, found to be in co-songwriter (and best friend) Beckett’s possession. CATHERINE’S HORSE- Garage Blues from Connecticut (rare 1969 5 star POKORA FAVE!) - Label:BREAK- A-WAY RECORDS (Germany) Due to a long time growing interest into local 60s rock, most band stories, even of those who did put out rare and local records, have since been written. Not so with Connecticut band Catherine´s Ho10rse. Their sole album dates from 1969 and was released only in an inner sleeve and no cover. Due to its rarity it is still a largely unknown release among today's record collectors and honoured with five stars in Hans Pokora’s “1001 Record Collectors Dream Book”. But those who happen to be familiar with it, appreciate it for the fresh sound of the music and the clear production. That and the fact, that it’s an amazing white blues rock album with a strong garage attitude provided by five high school students who never played professionally. The tracks are nearly all cover versions of classic, often moody blues tracks reminiscent of early Paul Butterfield Blues Band or Blues Project. The LP incl. long time standards such as “Good Morning Little School Girl”, “Think Twice”, “One More Mile” or “Can’t Keep From Cryin” mixed with covers of Jimmy Brenstons’ “Rocket 88” or Jagger / Richards “Good Times, Bad Times”. The only group original ''Sun Going Down'' hints at the talent and potential the band had and rounds off the groups effortless white electric bluesrock expertise. As the vinyl release from 15 month ago, this CD release comes with the originally intended coloured cover-art. The detailed booklet has the band’s history as related by original members Roger Goodspeed, Jay Geary and Putnam Smith, alongside rare photos and memorabilia. A 100% legit release and a must for late 60s rock collectors.500 copies only! CD $12 SKU:13721

CHAINS- On TOp of Things (60s garage style)-Label:GET HIP While the Chains hew closely to the early garage formula -- that is, more jangly than fuzzed-out and tuned down low, and tweaking it enough to make it their own, they breakaway on occasion, as if to prove they're aware it's 2003, not 1966 CD $10 SKU:21926

RADIO MOSCOW - Brain Cycles CLASSIC STONER PSYCHLabel:ALIVE rain Cycles is Radio Moscow's second album, a new psychedelic trip into the musical territory originally charted by artists such as Randy Holden, Groundhogs, Peter Green and Flower Travellin' Band, just to name a few. Hailing from Ames, Iowa, an unlikely rock n'roll town if there was one, and formed in 2006 by guitar prodigy Parker Griggs, Radio Moscow released their self-titled debut in 2007, with Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys handling the production. Stoner Rock called the album "an astonishingly good debut," Pop Matters hailed it as an "awesome record-...fun and slutty and cool," and Modern Fix described their sound as "dirty-ass psych-powered blues rock ". After a full year on the road, Parker Griggs has headed back into the studio to cut the long awaited follow-up. On "Brain Cycles," he once again plays all the instruments (guitar, drums, and percussion) and assumes vocal duties as well as production credits, while the bass guitar is in the hands of young Zach Anderson. Conceived as an homage to the thrilling days of yesteryear, when vinyl was king and analog stereo ruled the world, "Brain Cycles" is a guilty pleasure best experienced at maximum volume while wearing headphones, if you want your brain to catch the waves! COMP CD $22 SKU:21803

BEYOND THE CALICO WALL - VA ( 60s psych ) Label:VOXX The good people who put together this compilation set out to accomplish no less daunting a task than collecting the most bizarre and extreme underground psychedelic music recorded in the 1960's, and, for the most part, the choices seem to be right on the money. The collection starts off with "The Trip" by Park Avenue Playground, a song that bursts out of the gate with an explosion of fuzz guitar, organ, and mad siren-like oscillating effects, coming at you from all directions, seemingly. Next up is "Suzie's gone" by Afterglow, definitely one of the weirdest singles ever. The singer moans "so...my...world...is...messed...up!" in the most detached voice possible over a staccato organ and drum part, leading to a guitar solo that soon collapses into no recognizable conventional song structure. No less amazing is "Mt. Olympus" by The Flower Power, which starts off as an innocuous and somewhat introspective sounding piece until a wild heavily chorused guitar break, which only slightly warns you of the totally anarchic feedback and free-form noise ending -- which goes on for over a minute in a 3:40 single! Then you get a bizarre sci-fi/horror tale in "The pulse" by Burritt Bradley, and an incredible reading of The Electric Prunes' "I had too much to dream last night" by Rasputin and the Mad Monks, with weird proto-techno sound effects, backwards vocals, and production effects making the backing track fade in and out, creating a disturbing sensory assault. Other highlights include "An experiment in terror" by The Greek Fountains, which is a strange polyrhythmic instrumental, and "Up in my mind" by The Spontaneous Generation, which surely has to rank as one of the most aggressive 60's psych records ever made, with waves of vibrato guitar and insistent wah wah riffing. Also worthwhile is "The electronic insides and metal complexion that make up Herr Dr. Krieg," by The Riders of the Mark, which musically isn't quite as strange as its title, but comes close! The weirdness factor decreases somewhat as the c.d. progresses, and a sloppy but straightforward cover of "In a gadda da vida" by Six Feet Under makes for a pretty uninteresting closer, but the good material here makes this an essential purchase. Buy it if you like psychedelia, experimental or Incredibly Strange Music. Robert Schell (Townsville, Texas) COMP CD $10 SKU:22106

COUNTRY FUNK VOL 11- 1967-1974 1970 psych/blues/country) Label:LITA Country funk — a genre created not from geography, but a term applied retrospectively based solely on the feel of the songs: hip-swinging rhythms with bourbon on the breath. These are songs to make your cowboy boots itchy. Songs that encompass the elation of gospel with the sexual thrust of the blues; country hoedown harmonies cut with inner city grit. Compiled from tracks dating from the late ‘60s to the mid ’70s, Country Funk is the sound of country music blending with sounds and scenes from coast to coast, white America’s heartland music blending with the melting pot The good news for the people who fell in love with the first volume of Country Funk is this: there’s plenty more where that came from. Country Funk Volume II 1967 – 1974 is a new set of loose-talking, lap steel-twanging tracks. On this volume you’ll find household names like Willie Nelson, Townes Van Zandt, Kenny Rogers, Jackie DeShannon, JJ Cale, Bobby Darin and Dolly Parton. You’ll also find obscure artists like Bill Wilson, whose lost "Ever Changing Minstrel" album was produced by the feted Dylan producer Bob Johnston, and Thomas Jefferson Kaye, noted producer of Gene Clark’s opus No Other. Gene Clark’s here too, as half of Dillard & Clark, wringing raw emotion from The Beatles’ 'Don’t Let Me Down.' All of the individuals featured have a story to tell, whether it’s that of the sidelined session musician, the fading star or the country upstart. There’s Canadian group Great Speckled Bird, who joined Janis Joplin and more on 1970’s Festival Express tour. There’s Hoyt Axton, who along with singing the harmonica-sucking ode to 'California Women,’ also took a role in Gremlins. There’s Jim Ford, who Sly Stone once described as “the baddest white man on the planet”. And there’s Billy Swan, who kicks proceedings off with a soul-stirring organ, a lazy kickdrum and his rockabilly vocals echoing like a croon into the grand canyon. COMP CD $10 SKU:24204

ELECTRIC ASYLUM - Vol 4 (Rock Hard 60s and 70s British Freakrock)SAALE! Label:PAST AND PRESENT The fourth volume in Past & Present's Electric Asylum series walks away from the psychedelic themes of the earlier installments in favor of U.K. hard rock singles of the early to mid-'70s, most hailing from the days before heavy metal had fully codified itself and sometimes betraying the influence of the working-class end of glam (think Slade, not Bowie). EMBER POP 69-74- VA Rainy Day Mind (60s)Label:FANTASTIC VOYAGE Rainy Day Mind” is the first of two volumes surveying Ember’s pop repertoire from 1969 until the label’s demise at the end of the seventies. It comprises 21 tracks by artists ranging from obscure American singer Polly Niles to the internationally famous P J Proby, as well as ill-fated actor Alan Lake, Irish vocalist Lee Lynch, French pop star Black Swan and fuzz guitar-toting soul band Milt Matthews Inc. A clutch of projects including The Good Vibrations, The Good Ship Lollipop and Rusty Harness came to Ember courtesy of producer Mike Berry. The founding of US outlet Paramount-Ember in 1974, headed by music business veteran John Madara, brought albums by Denny Doherty (formerly of The Mamas And The Papas) and British all-girl glam rockers Mother Trucker into the fold. What these disparate sources all offer are fine performances of strong songs. Nor is there any shortage of collectables, topped by Davey Payne & The Medium Wave’s ‘A Walk In The Sunshine,’ which commands £50, and Blue Beard’s eponymous album, which only reached test pressing stage (£200), from which we have salvaged ‘Baby I Need You.’ Nice shrink-wrapped slip-case packaging COMP CD $10 SKU:16376

OLIVE, BRIAN BOTH LPS! ( blend of soulful R&B with raunchy garage and psych) (Prod by Dan of the Black Keys) Label:ALIVE Get his FIRST LP & Two Of Everything We want you to hear this one! This is in our "WHY ISNT THIS GUY #! ON THE CHARTS !" category. Get it, dont make me come over there! GET ONE! Ex-Greenhornes guitarist & Soledad Brothers) Following his 2009 self-titled debut , which was praised for skillfully blending soulful R&B with raunchy garage and psychedelia, Brian Olive takes us further on his latest full length “Two Of Everything”. Listeners will recognize a number of musical touchstones here (Night Tripper era Dr. John, Exuma, early Funkadelic, Canned Heat, West Coast psych, etc…) but the end result is completely Olive’s own, an insanely dynamic, soulful , psychedelically-rich summer album perfect for intergalactic flight, night visions, or voodoo rituals.

“Two Of Everything” was recorded and produced by both Olive and Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys at The Diamonds in Cincinnati, and Easy Eye Sound in Nashville and features a revolving cast of talent including long time right hand man Mike Weinel, Detroit psychedelic caveman David Shettler (SSM, the Sights), Daniel Allaire (Darker My Love), Jared McKinney (Greenhornes), and with Courtney Jaye, Leisa Han, Kari Kragness, and Sarah Benn on backing vocals. The hauntingly beautiful artwork is by Laura Dolan. LP $20 SKU:16918

Late '60s acid-punk/garage-psych, featuring seven self-penned songs plus three terrific cover versions of 'I Can't Explain' (The Who), 'Let's Live For Today' (Rokes/Grass Roots) and the aforementioned 'Tobbaco Road' (based on the Blues Magoos cover but including an extended crazed theremin/drum freak out!).Recommended if you like The Bachs, Blues Magoos, Mystery Meat and the like... REAL EYES-ST + A4 size, leatherette, soft cover 90-page book with drawings and lyricsLabel:WIZARD Rare local US private pressing from 1981. Described thus by one writer: "Dreamy all over, with progressive folk elements; flat out psychedelic rock in some tracks. Interesting and thoughtful songwriting. A great discovery!!!”; described elsewhere as "sounds running the gamut from soft folk, to psych heavy metal,” and also as "tasty and creative stuff throughout,” by a third scribe…. and this way in Acid Archives:"One of the best 1980s discoveries, this is pretty wild stuff, has a crude garage edge, especially when it gets heavy. The songwriting is pretty interesting and thoughtful, and as private press LPs go, this is distinctive and memorable enough to explain why psych dealers jumped on its bandwagon. A lot of the lyrics are pretty stoned. There is a lot going on here, with enough weird hooks and surprising moments to give any listener a fair amount of kicks. I like side two, especially the closing 'Visions of Obscurity V,' better than side one. In the long run, whether this will be a keeper for any individual listener will probably be determined by the insane 12-minute 'Madman’s Game,' an elaborate epic that encapsulates everything distinctive about this record.” —Acid Archives LP $45 SKU:24383

BLEU FOREST - ICHIBAN Live At Jimmies (1967 summer of love!) - Label:GEAR FAB The very first recordings by the BLEU FOREST happened after they played a show at the "Hey You Coffeehouse" in Ventura, CA. CRYSTAL SYPHON- FAMILY EVIL/ ELEPHANT BALL (SF 60s)Label:GEAR FAB Comes in an old-style “tip-on” jacket with a digital download. Plying their trade in the fertile San Francisco scene of the late '60s, Crystal Syphon's name was only known to aficionados through viewing copies of old SF gig posters and through the index of bands at the back of Ralph Gleason's book on the rise of Jefferson Airplane. Then both their studio and live 1967-1969 archival recordings were discovered that replaced the imagination with true grooves in 2012 and 2015 with the release of 2 LPs on Roaratorio Records. Trying to find comparison with other Bay area bands from that era has proven a bit fruitless as they don't specifically evoke any of the heavy hitters of the era. They have a bit of a dreamy, stoned vibe with some great harmonies and some have compared their style to Quicksilver Messenger Service (John Cipollina was their idol!!) as well as H.P. Lovecraft. As with so many bands of the era, the draft, time and declining fortunes signaled the end of the band. There is some great guitar work alongside the Farfisa organ in the extended jams, and fans of the west-coast sound should delight in these recordings. CD $14 SKU:23863

LOCKSLEY HALL-ST (1969 Spokane psych rarity) Label:GEAR FAB This relatively unknown Spokane, WA. psychedelic band recorded this eerie and haunting LP in the Spring of 1969 at the legendary Audio Recorders in Seattle, WA. Produced by Sonics engineer Kearney Barton and long time Northwest guitarist Ned Neltner (Mark Five, Gas Company, Junior Cadillac), the beautiful vocals of Shannon Svenson are very reminiscent of the sounds being produced at that time by It's A Beautiful Day, Jefferson Airplane, and Big Brother & The Holding Company. CD $10 SKU:21529

ROBBIE AND THE WEREWOLF- Live at the Waleback (Bizarre 1964 monster inspired oddity)-Label:GEAR FAB OK, so here we have one of the weirdest and most bizarre albums ever recorded. Pretty much unsurpassed in its level of incredible strangeness, this ultra-rare album from the early sixties (1964) California coffee- house circuit is like no other. Robbie is a folksinger of the frantic variety with a fetish for monsters. This inspired some of the most bizarre songs ever committed to vinyl. It was at The Wale Back in LA one heady night in 1964, that Robbie's solo act was captured for posterity by engineer Reice Hamel, now renowned as a pioneer of live recording techniques. The patrons lapped up Robbie's act although some of the more faint-hearted may have experienced a frisson of terror as he prowled amongst them, sweat dripping from his beard, laughing maniacally, during his atmospheric 'Dracula' number. With his long red hair and matching beard, Robbie was a striking performer with a manic stage presence, acting out his songs as much as singing them. His set consisted of his original songs and uniquely reworked versions of folk standards, played on a beat-up twelve-string guitar. Robbie would later join The Brain Train in 1967 and his wife Barbara “Sandi” Robison would become the lead vocalist for The Peanut Butter Conspiracy (PBC) . Featuring liner notes from Alan Brackett of The PBC and UK collector extraordinaire Gray Newell. CD $10 SKU:19459

ONE ONLY LAST COPY!

BALDRY, JOHN - Good to be Alive (1973 UK blues) Label:PACEMAKER It is hard to believe that one of Baldry's best albums has remained unreleased this long; but here it is on CD for the first time. Probably one of Long John's least known records, particularly in North America. Arguments can be made that this record was one of LJB's best, and it's a personal favorite of John's. Quite a career for Baldry: He sang with Alexis Korner's Blues Incorporated; he joined the Cyril Davies R&B All Stars with Nicky Hopkins playing piano. They eventually became Steampacket with Baldry and Rod Stewart as male vocalists, Julie Driscoll as the female vocalist and Brian Auger on Hammond organ. After Steampacket broke up in 1966, Baldry formed Bluesology featuring Elton John on keyboards and Elton Dean, later of Soft Machine, and Caleb Quaye on guitar. Baldry's late albums, “Everything Stops for Tea” (WB 46 160 Warner Bros, 1972) (also produced by Stewart and John) and “Good to Be Alive” (GML 1005 Casablanca Records, 1973), were considered artistically strong. With one LP and four singles under their belt, UK's premier garage/beat exports The Baron Four push forward with their strongest release to date here, both in terms of song writing and recording quality. CEM KARACA -Kardaslar 1974 (TURKISH GUITAR ROCK PIONEER 1960s and 70s) Label:GUERSSEN Sophisticated & passionate, with flamboyant taste in sunglasses, Cem Karaca once led Istanbul’s music fans through a period of violent political turmoil. This is the second album from Karaca, released in 1974.
