20/20- Going Up With My Girl ( 80s Power Pop ) -Label:Radio Heartbeat Radio Heartbeat releases it's first (of many) singles! In early 1980, 20/20 went into the studio and recorded these two gems, both written before the first LP and both previously unreleased. If you are a fan of the first 20/20 LP, you will love this single. There will be an earlier (1978), different version of "Going Up With My Girl" on the 20/20 "Lost Album" (Title TBD) LP Radio Heartbeat will be releasing later this year. "World of Fools" will not be on the LP, but both will be on the expanded CD version. 45 RPM $6.5 SKU:9004

ALBRIGHT , CHARLES - Weight/I Am The Counter Culture (Drop Out-) PIC SLV SAALE Label:PERMANENT RECORDS Blown out, lo-fi, catchy punk jammer with loads of hooks and sweet riffs to complete the trifecta. Albright's still a fine young man and he's doing so well. He's still on drugs and he's still happy he's a genius (and so are we), but he's not singing about any of that on this record. This Sacto punk has brutalized us twice before, but never quite like this. The third time's definitely a charm and even though Charles is no longer a loner he is still absolutely in charge on this one. 'Weight' finds Mr. A drumless for the first time ever, but the repetitive riff-tensity hides the lack of percussion pretty damn well on this wham bam-thank-you-ma'am punker. For the B-side, Charles must've taken a ride on the Silver Machine, but he's obviously still feeling mean, 'cuz the riff behind 'I Am The Counter Culture (Drop Out)' sounds quite a bit like a certain Hawkwind jam we all know and love. But this ain't no cover song, '(Drop Out)' stands on its own as a killer psychedelic punk number for the ages. This incredible single is limited to 300 hand-numbered copies and precedes the sure to be mind melting debut full-length due out this Fall. Turn on, Tune In, and '(Drop Out)' while supplies last." 45 RPM $5 SKU:13385

BASEMENTS / SOUND EXPLOSION - split 7” with heavy sleeve (60s style Greek garage ) Label:Lost in Tyme Greek label Lost In Tyme is back with an all-domestic release featuring The Basements, who release the 7" Heart Of Stone. The top side of this split single is an unreleased cut from Greek legends The Sound Explosion, called “Every Day and Every Night”. This is not a Trolls cover, but a brilliant original sung by the talented John Alexopoulos. Propped up by consistent fuzz and the farfisa as always, this is one of their best tunes. The Basements’ side is a tough RnB tune called “Stop Rolling”, and once again they’ve taked a stylistic turn. After the debut ep’s straight ’66 moody jangle, to the fuzz-heavy garage of the LP, this is another surprise, but one they pull off extremely well. Better than The Strypes/The 45s at least. The song finishes with a great fuzz rave-up that carries on right through the final chorus. 45 RPM $7 SKU:15966

BASTARDS, THE- Funky Bastard/ Job in Town (The Kids ) -Label:SING SING The Kids (Belgium) released this single in Italy under the name The B’astards. Two classic tracks with different names/mixes from the LP (which has been bootlegged enough times for this to be accepted as one of the best non-UK/US/Ireland bands of the first rock-n'-roll-tinged punk wave). This is rock and roll 45 RPM $7.5 SKU:15341

BEES- Voices Green and Purple w slv ltd ed of 600 -Label:UGLY THINGS Since its original release in October 1966, the Bees' deadly, psychotic "Voices Green and Purple" has been shrouded in mystery. It's believed only 250 copies were pressed, making it a holy grail for '60s garage/punk/psych collectors. Now -- at long last -- the Bees have been unmasked (see their story in UT#34) and in collaboration with singer/bassist Robbie Wood, ltd ed of 600 copies of the single. Pure 100% analogue mastering from the cleanest vinyl source, personally supervised by Robbie (who is now a professional sound engineer) for the most authentic, true-to-the-original sound. BANCHEE- Thinkin U.S. pysch rock 1969 Hendrix style w liners & photos -Label:AURORA These Italian-American hard-rockers coalesced in the late '60s New York, quickly earning a strong reputation in the city's clubs. Their classic debut appeared in the fall of 1969, after which they continued gigging, eventually attracting the attention of Jimi Hendrix's manager Michael Jeffrey, with whom they made this superb follow-up. Distinguished by frenzied guitar leads and powerful percussion, it appeared in the summer of 1971 but sank without trace, prompting their split. BATORS, STIV- L.A L.A - Label:BOMP Records BACK IN after being OUT OF PRINT SINCE 2003! As the frontman for the Dead Boys, Stiv Bators terrorized audiences with his snotty, in-your-face punk rock style. But after the Dead Boys, Bators embarked on a musical journey that saw him touch upon new wave (the Wanderers), goth rock (the Lords of the New Church), and power pop (during a brief solo career), as well as a fling with movie acting. Born Steve Bator on October 22, 1949, in Youngstown, OH, Bators took a liking to garage rock and proto-punk early on -- a story he liked to tell is that it was he who handed Iggy Pop the jar of peanut butter that he smeared across his chest and threw around while walking on the audience during the Stooges' televised infamous 1970 rock festival in Ohio (additionally, Bators befriended the Ramones during the quartet's first Ohio performance). AMG

Those who know Stiv Bators only from his ground-breaking punk rock with the Dead Boys and the Lords of the New Church will be pleased to see him tackling early rock music standards like "Louie Louie" ("L.A. L.A."), the other great Richard Berry anthem "Have Love Will Travel", and the Moody Blues hit "The Story in Your Eyes". The title song features new lyrics by Bators that are surprisingly well wrought considering the loose nature of the recording session (which included Kim Fowley and members of Sham 69, the Runaways and The Popsicles). The flip side of the first single to emerge from Bomp, "It's Cold Outside" (originally by the Choir, which later reformed as the Raspberries with Eric Carmen) is a song that the Dead Boys reportedly could not figure out how to play. The most poignant and perhaps the best track on the album, "I'm No More" is a beautifully rendered love song that was to have been his last single with Bomp.
Following these sessions, Stiv Bators returned to Paris and began working on another solo album. His untimely death came less than three years later TRACKLISTINGS ON SITE CD $10 SKU:8908

BEAT RATS - Have Mercy ( 60's-inspired hook-filled gems ) SAALE - Label:KOOL KAT "They have a fair whiff of old Mersey and R&B-informed beat. The confident, rasping vocals and blues-twang guitars form part of a fully-charged battery that includes familiar riffs and chords, propelled by thumping bass and drums. Full of fine blasts of modern day garage-pop snazz. Strong surging rhythms decorated with appealing dynamics are also use to emphasize a less raucous, but still nonetheless livewire approach." - Shindig! Magazine CD $12 SKU:15632

BEAT, The- Paul Collins - FLYIN' HIGH -power pop (NERVES related ) Label:GET HIP 1979 PAUL COLLINS recorded, with his band THE BEAT, the album that many consider THE BEST POWER-POP RECORD OF ALL TIME. "Flyin' High" has an organic feel reminiscent of his early solo releases, and some of late Beat recordings. “ CD $13 SKU:4529

BLACK DIAMOND HEAVIES -- A Touch Of Someone Else's Class PRODUCED BY DAN OF THE BLACK KEYS! - Label:ALIVE PRODUCED BY DAN OF THE BLACK KEYS! Black Diamond Heavies is a self-described punk-ass blues duo from the South consisting of John Wesley Myers on bass keys, fender Rhodes, organ, and lead vocals and Van Campbell on drums, percussion and vocals. "A Touch Of Someone Else's Class" is the follow up to their acclaimed 2007's debut "Every Damn Time" (Alive), and it's a another slab of grungy, dirty, blues punk rock'n'roll with a heavy, greasy, touch of soul. This time the two-piece traveled to Akron, Ohio, to team up with Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys and record in his newly built studio, equipped with vintage gear. The result is everything one would expect, and more. The "blues groove monsters" deliver another blues/soul/rock masterpiece of gothic proportions. Worth mentioning is a guest appearance by Ralph Carney on horns, best known for his long-time association with Tom Waits. The CD version includes one song NOT AVAILABLE on the vinyl (featuring Dan Auerbach on guitar), and comes with 2 DIFFERENT covers; one CD cover features John's KEYBOARDS, the other one features Van's DRUM Kit. "With a sound that's blues-rooted but steeped in Stooges sludge, the Heavies' cranky, cranked-up sets burn black as tire fires-think Exile on Main Street recorded in Howlin' Wolf's casket. Nothing smooth or clean here. Just eight-bar skronk in bad need of a tetanus shot." - The Pitch. "Their attack of drums and keyboards is a mean, f-ed up, gospel punky hybrid and rocks with ragged, soulful passion." - Rock Sound. "Tom Waits growls. Joe Cocker growls. Myers bark like a man who had his throat ripped out by a wolf. He gargles the thick blues drawl of a man who has never inhaled without a Marlboro Red in his gob." - NME CD $10 SKU:8143

BLACK KEYS - The Moan + 3 CD Single -Label:ALIVE Four great tracks exclusive to this release including a cover of The Stooges‚ No Fun. "This is basic drum and guitar encoded with Son House DNA, moving within that ol' unpredictable John Lee Hooker meter. It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock'n'roll, unless you live in Akron, in which case just keep
drinking the water." - Ptolemaic Terrascope CD $7 SKU:2263

BLISS (USA)- Return to Bliss ( legendary 70s psych trio ) new lo price -Label:HALLUCINATIONS Arizona power-trio Bliss' second album, previously unreleased. How can that be, you ask? During the making of the classic eponymous Bliss LP (released on Canyon in 1968/69), the band recorded two LP's at once—the second was never released, until now. Raw, heavy power trio action from Arizona (Brad Reed, Rusty Martin and Corky Aldred), very powerful indeed; producer, as on the Canyon LP, was Hadely Murrell. Some feel that ‘Hippies, Cops And A Bunch Of Rocks’ and ‘Music Train’ are destined to become classics of the psychedelic genre CD $12 SKU:8402

BLOODHOUNDS - Let Loose - Digipack CD - Label:ALIVE We’ll take a triple dose of this bluesy garage-rock! RIYL early Stones, Yardbirds and Nuggets. The BIG TAKEOVER

From East L.A., The Bloodhounds play fresh, edgy R&B tinged blues with a hint of punk swagger and latin groove, but always with maximum emphasis placed on good old fashioned rock’n’roll " The MAD MACKEREL

The Bloodhounds play Blues / R&B rock ‘n’ roll with a fresh, edgy, almost punk edge, and add a hint of a Latin groove to the mix. These guys are from East L.A., and if you haven’t heard the news, that’s where it’s all goin’ down these days! CD $10 SKU:16265

BLUES MAGOOS - Electric Comic Book -( reissue of debut from great 66 garage psych ) - Label:SUNDAZED ’60s garage-psych nugget is now available as a Limited Edition compact disc (1000 copies only!) and High Definition Vinyl, sourced from the original Mercury-label stereo masters, with the colorful original cover art meticulously reproduced. In their '60s heyday, the Blues Magoos were one of the first garage-punk bands to achieve mainstream success, and one of the first to embrace psychedelia. Early in their existence, the Bronx-bred quintet's high-energy live sets made them a popular attraction on the Greenwich Village club scene. Once they began making records, they quickly emerged as one of one of the earliest and most inventive exponents of the psychedelic sound. The band's 1966 debut album Psychedelic Lollipop and its 1967 followup Electric Comic Book, are two of that period's most beloved and enduring albums TRACKLISTINGS ON SITE CD $12 SKU:12628

BODO MOLITOR- Hits Internacionales (ultra-rare 60s Mexican psych holy grail for collectors paper-sleeve mini-LP replica. ) -Label:VAM MEXICO Official master-tape reissue of this ultra-rare Mexican garage psych record that's a holy grail for collectors. Globe-trotting artist Bodo Molitor may have been born in Germany, but he’ll forever be associated with the psychedelic scene in Mexico. In addition to creating the zoomorphic art for his own bizarre album, he also created the psychedelic art for the Kaleidoscope album, for La Libre Expresion, and for his brother Reinhold’s solo album. As for “Hits Internacionales”, it has all the ambience and psychedelic delirium of the time, full of devastating fuzz and wacked out rhythms. And then there is Bodo’s raspy and savage voice. Impressive. As Antonio Malcara says in his book "Catologo subjetivo y segregacionista del Rock Mexicano", this LP and that of Kaleidoscope are the two most important and representative pieces of Mexican garage rock-psychedelia. Collectors offer thousands of dollars to be able to get an original copy of “Hits Internacionales” in good condition CD $12 SKU:15120

BOLDER DAMN- Mourning ( 60s gem ) -Label:SHADOW KINGDOM BOLDER DAMN from the U.S. is a prime example of how amazing a band can be, but yet virtually still unknown to a lot of people until now. Talk about HEAVY, this band was extremely heavy for the time of their debut release in 1971. They certainly challenged Black Sabbath in terms of heaviness. Their closing song “Dead Meat” would be considered some of the heaviest/proto-doom riffs to be heard back then. “Dead Meat” was an epic barnburner for the time. Even to this day that song still carries the same impact it did when it was originally released, much like the song “Black Sabbath”. For people that know more obscure greats like 70’s era Pentagram and Sir Lord Baltimore, this album fits right in with those. It’s a little more in the psych/fuzz heavy rock genre, but what’s not to love there? The album was re-mastered and the booklet contains a history of the band, lyrics, and old photos. CD $14 SKU:10975

BOYSKOUT - School of Etiquette ( S.F. girl pop/punk SIOUXSIE & the BANSHEES style -Label:ALIVE This San Francisco all-girl band manufactures a seductive blend of pop/new-wave ala early CURE, SLEATER KINNEY, SIOUXSIE & the BANSHEES and JOY DIVISION, while remaining true to its punk-rock roots. "If some CBGB's Frankenstein had managed, circa 1977, to transplant Patti Smith's sensibility into Blondie's garage-band pop, the result would have sounded something like BoySkout's "School of Etiquette." Outfitted in such New Wavey accessories as sneakers and skinny ties, this lesbian-rock quartet revives such Smithian motifs as drowning and the erotic appeal of outlaws, but with girl-group bounce. School of Etiquette may not be genteel, but it is impeccably arranged." - Mark Jenkins / Washington Post CD $3 SKU:2208

That is no news to long time fans who have fancied their anthem like, riff-rippin' and foot stompin' brand of garage rock since their first album back in 1997. But loyal fans and newcomers will be pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality of the song writing on the new tracks. They even add a new dimension with jangly Byrds-ian chords in some songs TRACKLISTINGS ON SITE LP $8 SKU:13315

MYSTIC SIVA- ST gatefold w insert -Label:WORLD IN SOUND It's the rebirth of MYSTIC SIVA, who are without any doubt one of the ultimate US heavy psychedelic underground bands from the 1970s. Finally, this album is now available with a more superior sound than anyone of us could ever have expected. The original album release featured guitar overdubs on three tracks, done with the intention to give the sound more power. However, tha band wasn't entirely happy with the result. This LP is remastered and remixed from the ORIGINAL tapes, with all the original guitar parts! Indeed, this versiion of the 'Mystic Siva' album sounds the way it was meant to be! The four Sivas took '60s hippie/garage/psychedelic rock music to a darker and higher level of intensity. While the slower, atmospheric tunes remind of The Doors, Jimi Hendrix or Iron Butterfly, the heavy cuts are unexpectedly crazy, mind blowing and hypnotic, with flashes of the later upcoming rural 1980s thrash punk/metal vibe. NOW after 43 years, these original album recordings express the challenging and inventive concept and the pure beauty of Mystic Siva's music at their best. Eleven original songs with a total running time of 46 minutes, including a poster, on marbeled orange vinyl! LP $25 SKU:15648

NEUTRAL SPIRITS - ST ( 70s South Carolina fuzz garage ) -Label:VOID Lost in time South Carolina garage band with a primitive sound and very basic songs which should appeal to fans of Cykle and New Dawn. NITE JEWEL- It Goes Through Your Head LTD ED SAALe- Label:MEXICAN SUMMER 2011 repress. "The music of Ramona Gonzalez (you know her better as Nite Jewel) brings to mind the days of Teen Steam--a restless, infectious R&B beat, a voice you can sing along to, a positive outlook that sympathizes with your troubles and helps you to dance them away. With a melody like the one found on It Goes Through Your Head, you're going to find that it'll stay there as well, bridging a pop sensibility beginning with Cyndi Lauper, continuing on through '80s pop R&B like Expose and The Jets, and ending with Ms. Gonzalez's winning charm and tremendous voice. Remixes by DaM-Funk and the Samps on the flip side reinforce the inherent danceability in these exclusive tunes. Play this record, then get out, get organized and do something awesome today!" NOVA 1 - The Nova Local (HAND NUMBERED 60s rarity )SAALE -Label: RADIOACTIVE An extremely underrated album which originally appeared on Decca in the US in 1967 (DL74977) and has recently become a minor collectable. A classic late '60s light-psych album with excellent vocals and harmonies, lots of heavy organ and lots of fuzz guitar. There is a definite British influence at work here, and it is probably due to this that MCA issued the album in the UK in 1969 (MUPS 377) but by this time the band had already parted company although a small part of their legacy survived when the band, Life In General, which coincidently included original Nova member Bill Levasseur's son Jason, covered the track, If You Only Had The Time on their 2000 album The Lovely, Lovely; GW PICK LP $14 SKU:4441
