PLASTICLAND- Mink Dress and Other Cats (post punk psych) SAALE - Label:TIMOTHY'S BRAIN Record Collector magazine in England rightly calls this "a superb compilation of one of the true pioneers of post-punk psychedlia:—and it's true; an amazing collection of ultra-rare early singles from a truly under-rated band CD $10 SKU:23582

PLIMSOULS- Live! Beg, Borrow & Steal (80s POWERPOP!!)Label:ALIVE Live! Beg, Borrow & Steal" showcases the PLIMSOULS at the height of their power, tearing the roof off and on the verge of starting a riot on L.A.'s old Sunset Strip. Recorded at the Whisky A Go Go on October 31, 1981, this previously unreleased 18 song live album includes many of The Plimsouls' classics as well as plenty of surprises. It has been stunningly remastered, features previously unpublished and gorgeous photos by renowned photographer Bob Matheu, and also includes three pummelling tracks with special guests The Fleshtones (CD only).
The first vinyl pressing of the record includes a poster and is limited to 1,000 copies. Considering that all of The Plimsouls official studio releases are currently out of print, this explosive live document of the band igniting The Whisky nearly three decades ago stands as not only a highly anticipated release from the band, but also as a testament to the power of pure, unadulterated rock & roll.Formed in 1978 by Peter Case (vocals, guitar) following his departure from The Nerves and The Breakaways, with Louie Ramirez (drums), Dave Pahoa (bass) and Eddie Muñoz (guitar), The Plimsouls effectively blended roots, British Invasion and garage rock into one unique soul-punk, garage-pop combo. "They boasted a soulful front man and gifted songwriter in Peter Case; a brittle, unconventional lead guitarist in Eddie Muñoz; and a gutsy, power-packed rhythm section in bassist Dave Pahoa and drummer Lou Ramirez. The ‘Souls didn’t just replicate the cliches of power pop, as so many others did – they, and especially Case, were intent on putting their own imprint on the rock and R&B styles they derived their sound from. Their keen originality and their ‘let’s-rock’ attitude removed them from the run of the mill. Despite the misguided notions of observers intent upon categorization, The Plimsouls were always their own men." — Chris Morris CD $10 SKU:11185

POPPEES -Pop Goes The Anthology ( LATE 70s POWERPOP ) -Label:BOMP he Poppees were one of the creators and the embodiment of what soon came to be known as the "Power Pop" sound of the late 70s. This long overdue anthology finally gives this notable and highly underrated band its due, elegantly chronicling the Poppees short but influential role in the history of the New York New Wave scene of the late 70's. While anchored around their two classic Bomp singles, "If She Cries/Love of The Loved" (the latter track produced by Craig Leon of the Ramones fame), and "Jealousy/She's Got It" (produced by Cyril Jordan of the Flamin' Groovies), "Pop Goes The Anthology" features never before released recordings, including demos, early live recordings, and culminating with a rip-roaring live performance at CBGB. It is complete with liner notes and unpublished photos. "After all, what would be more punk at that time than being in the Poppees - a band that emulated the early Beatles, from their moptops to their Cuban heels?" - WFMUFormed in In the mid-'70s in New York by Bob Waxman, Arthur Alexander, Paddy Lorenzo, and Donny Jackrel, later replaced by Jet Harris. POWER OF ZEUS-THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO ZEUS ( heavy psych/funk-rock 1970) SAALE!-Label: MR. BONGO Seminal heavy psych/funk-rock album originally released on Rare Earth in 1970. Featuring the monster breakbeat on 'The Sorcerer Of Isis'. Formed in Detroit in 1968, Power Of Zeus became the first rock band to be signed by Motown subsidiary label Rare Earth. The group drew inspiration from British hard rock and heavy metal giants like Cream, Black Sabbath, and Led Zeppelin when they created this well-produced, seminal post-hard rock album. After 'The Gospel According To Zeus', the group never made another album and the band slipped into obscurity, until it was discovered by the hip hop diggers. The drum beat from 'The Sorcerer Of Isis' has been one of the most sampled in hip-hop music, including KRS-One, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Cyprus Hill, A Tribe Called Quest and Eminem to name a few. Half-speed mastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios, London. Transferred from 2 x 1/4" analog reels at 192kHz/24-bitCD $14 SKU:21494

PRIESTS-TALL TALES (fuzzed out dark Cramps meets Cynics vibe)Label:GET HIP Rochester, NY’s Priests began a career in music inspired by the seedier, darker almost ungodly aspects of life. Sonically influenced by the classic rock and roll sounds of yesteryear, the band forges ahead, creating the music of tomorrow in their own unique way. The band members seem to feed off of each other, which depending on moods, chemicals or mental stability can be incredibly mesmerizing or cryptically haunting. The Priests tend to break it down to the simplest level and build from there. Hypnotic guitar lines, fuzzed-out organ and tribalistic back beat mixed in with a dark Cramps meets Cynics vibe, build the foundations of their unusual and original sounds. CD $10 SKU:21819

PRIMA DONNA- Nine Lives and Forty Fives - GREAT ROCK AND ROLL Label:ALIVE Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley on a steady diet of punk and glitter rock, Prima Donna are infamous on the LA scene. Their curriculum includes musical road trips with Eddie and the Hot Rods, Adam Ant, Glen Matlock & The Philistines, The Dictators, and even Green Day, who they supported on two arena tours on two continents. Frontman Kevin Preston has also continued participation in Green Day side-project Foxboro Hot Tubs. While touring the US and Europe, Prima Donna was in and out of the studio numerous times, both at home in L.A. and in Milan, Italy. The finished product is “Nine Lives and Forty Fives”, a 11-song variety pack that displays the band’s skills in the studio, and compiles some of their rarest and rawest recordings, including “Rock and Roll is Dead,” available for the first time in US. The song was named one of the Top Ten Songs of 2013 by Little Steven’s Underground Garage. CD $10 SKU:16436

PROJECTION COMPANY/STAFF CARPENBORG & THE ELECTRIC CORONA -Two more great US '60s exploito psych LP's on one disc! Label:GEAR FAB “- GIVE ME SOME LOVIN'/FANTASTIC PARTY-” Wow!! Two more great US '60s exploito psych LP's on one disc, presented in a miniature LP-sleeve! The first title here is the Projection Company's great 1967 Custom release 'Gimme Some Lovin', featuring fuzzed out guitars and wild organs and scorching vocals. Also present is Scott Carpenborg's classic 1971 free form 'Fantastic Party'. While you may expect cheesy orchestra music it's actually the rawest, dopest and wildest psychedelic groove one could imagine. Stomping breaks, haunting spooky organ sounds and wet swampy bass lines from the very beginning to the last groove, completed with some strange sci-fi sounds and stereo FX. The LSD was certainly flowing richly during these sessions! CD $10 SKU:21727

A superb collection of sing-along power-pop, bittersweet midtempo melodic-punk and some killer blasts of mean punk'n'roll thrown in for good measure. A must for fans of the Spanish punk pop sound of the '90s and for anyone interested in classy punk rock. CD $8 SKU:19898

PROYECTO A -Proyecto A& B (1974 Spanish Cosmic, acid-psych-soul-funk-prog)SAALE!-Label:SOMMOR Cosmic, acid-psych-soul-funk-prog extravaganza from Spain, 1971. Proyecto A was the brainchild of the great Frank Dubé from Barcelona. What can we say about him? A truly fascinating character: a pioneer of rock & roll and twist in Spain during the late 50s and early 60s, an accomplished accordion player, a showman, comedian, a Psychoaesthetics master…But he should also be considered as one of the first psychedelic pioneers in Spain due to his groundbreaking work on the Proyecto A album. Proyecto A was released in 1971 housed in an amazing gatefold sleeve depicting all the musicians wearing strange & bizarre psychedelic outfits. The project was shrouded in mystery (Frank used pseudonyms for all the musicians involved) and for many years the Proyecto A album has been plagued with many false rumors and stories. We set the record straight with this, the first ever reissue done in cooperation with Frank Dubé. This reissue also includes the previously unreleased Proyecto B recordings from 1974, which were meant to be the second Proyecto A album. Recorded at EMI studios in Barcelona but never released at the time, this features Frank Dubé backed by famous Spanish prog band Iceberg plus sax / flute player Juan Mena (ex-Máquina and Eddie Lee Mattison Band). PSYCHEDELIC MOODS PART 2 - Sunset Love & Inner Sanctum Journey Thru Inner Space)Label:CICADELIC After releasing the “Psychedelic Moods” album, in October of 1966, Mark Barkan envisioned another psychedelic album for his next release. It was to be performed by a Greenwich Village band called “Inner Sanctum”. The theme of the album was to be a psychedelic journey into the various psyches of the mind. The trip started with a journey into the past (The House Of Yesterday) then covered the inner workings of the mind (ID) then the descent into madness (Hydro Pyro) hallucination (Purple Floating) and finally culminating in nirvana (Snow Petals). Unfortunately, Barkan was unable to find a record company willing to lease the masters and so they languished for decades unreleased. Now, at long last the masters for this aborted album are mixed from the original four track tapes and forty plus years later the psychedelic sounds of “Inner Sanctum” are now ready, willing, and able to blow your mind. Sunset Love” was comprised of band members from New Mexico and Texas. In the fall of 1968, thirteen original songs and two covers were recorded for a potential album, but nothing was ever released. “Sunset Love’s” lush harmonies, soaring vocals, superior song writing, and flower power consciousness pervaded their songs with a depth and quality unheard of from most 60s’ bands. While their sound can be compared to such bands as “The Mamas and The Papas”, “The Peanut Butter Conspiracy”, “Spanky and Our Gang”, and “The Love Exchange”, “Sunset Love” had their own inimitable style that transcended a generic stereo-type. Had Sunset Love released their album in the 60’s, there is no doubt it would have been an instant rarity of excellence. The “Sunset Love” tapes are sourced from the original stereo versions and reveal the great harmonies and surrealistic lyrics of an undeservedly overlooked and forgotten band from the late 60’ CD $10 SKU:12399

QUICK, BILL -MARAVILLOSA GENTE (Hippie Acid folk weirdness) Outer carton slim case CD-Label:GUERSSEN Mysterious Bill Quick..this guy was son of North-American dad and Venezuelan mum, and landed in Madrid in the early 70s, spending most of his time playing music and manufacturing leather belts and other stuff that he later sold at the popular Rastro flea market in Madrid, meeting point for all hippies of the time. He somehow got in touch with famous producer Alain Milhaud, who got really impressed by his work and quickly offered him a deal for recording a long-play to be released in Milhauds own Explosion label. Then Bill recruited some of top studio musicians and foreign friends who were also living in Madrid at the time; the list of people who play on the recordings is impressive: Salvador Dominguez & Chema Pellico (ex-Cerebrum), Rafa Galvez (Vainica Doble), Frank Rojas (Sangre). Jess Lam (Jess & James).. and up to eleven musicians joined Bill in the recording studio. As a result, "Maravillosa gente" (Beautiful people) was recorded. Ranging from beautiful, introspective, acoustic solo tracks like "Beautiful People", "Only the weather" or the acid-folk of "Winters gonna come" to full backing-band hard-edged ones like "Take me away", "Somebody" and the folk-rock sounding of "With you, Lord" or "I sing this song", the album is a real treat from start to finish. It has an awesome sound and amazing production (it was recorded at one of the most advanced Spanish recording studios at the time), along with top musicianship and Bills amazing songwriting. A real big ticket that was absolutely ignored in Spain at the time, and even today remains unknown to most of folk-rock collectors and fans. Curious enough, the album got released in Brazil as well (with poor sales again), with a different cover artwork. Now this is reissued for the first time, including a booklet with pictures and detailed liner notes telling the wonderful and strange story of this mysterious musician and carefully remastered sound. RAINY DAY SAINTS-Diamond Star Highway(Cleveland psych, garage punk, pure pop ,prog) -Label:GET HIP You don’t have to listen to the Rainy Day Saints for long to surmise that their heady amalgam of psychedelia, garage punk, pure pop and prog-rock is the product of astute music fandom.Rainy Day Saints were born out of frustration, heartache, love and power chords. Setting controls for the heart of the sun is multi instrumentalist Dave Swanson. He and his cohorts parade along the rock and roll route oblivious to the fact that the scenery along the way has most definitely changed. In other words, they do what they want, when they want and for no one else but themselves. Why else would they reference Hawkwind, Roxy Music, Crazy Elephant and Johnny Thunders in one fell swoop! Selfish? Perhaps, but that is not their concern. It’s all about the melodies, the harmonies, the loud guitars, the driving bass, the bashing drums and the snarling saxophone. Things like : “pristine electrified paisley underground jangle”,“a nastier version of The Move and the harder side of the Dream Syndicate”, “an elegant almost British classicism of hazy, psychedelicate pop-rock swirls”, “ Cheap Trick meets The Nazz meets early Flaming Lips”, “reminds me of the Monkees”, and our favorite, “ Mr. Swanson is one talented motherfucker” are just a few of things that have been said about Rainy Day Saints. BEYOND THE CALICO WALL V/A (Excellent 60s acid-punk sampler) Label:VOXX LAST PRESSING of classic 60s psych! We thought this one was out of print, but found a few jackets at the pressing plant Excellent acid-punk sampler put together by New England collector Erik L. Issued fairly late in the game but recycling lots of weird psych numbers for the first time. A few tracks fall into the pointless-noise/novelty category but overall this was one of the best comps of the early 90s. All of the pieces are unbridled master strokes of the proto-punk D.I.Y. mentality married to the equally inspired garage rock psych of the mid- to late '60s. In a significant nod to collectors, none of these sides can be found on run-of-the-mill "best-of" anthologies, and there are only a mere handful that are available in any other incarnation. The material ranges from highly infectious pop melodies such as Duffy's spry rocker "Come Back Come Back" or the speed-fueled madness of the Waterproof Tinkertoy's trippy "Continuation." There are also a fair amount of indescribably acidic and downright far-out cuts, including the repetitive "Suzie's Gone" by the Afterglow and the rambling of Ceylib People's "Changes." In addition to the plethora of unearthed gems, Beyond the Calico Wall features a few familiar titles -- such as the faithfully extended 11-plus minute reworking of "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" from 6 Feet Under as well as Rasputin & the Mad Monks' jet-propelled rendering of "I Had Too Much to Dream (Last Night)." Bhagavad Gita includes a mid-tempo distortion-driven electric guitar wailer titled "Long Hair Soulful," which was co-written by Chuck Mangione -- who included his version on his Eyes of the Veiled Temptress (1988). It is unknown if the famed jazz flügelhorn player was once a member of this Ohio-based band. COMP LP $16 SKU:21917

The Perfect Toy label continues its righteous quest to unearth the finest rare sounds from way out with Volumes 3 and 4 of its Down In The Valley series and in doing so delivers what is most certainly “A heavy dose of garage rock & psych-funk.” Vol. 3 opens with a characteristically inspiring cut - Sand's cover of Down By The River - one of the best (and certainly one of the most obscure) versions of the Neil Young classic. This is followed by two fine examples of garage rock with a funky twist - Pegasus' Honeysuckle Willow Pride and Enalpria's Sliding, in the slipstream of which follows Heart and Soul's raw psych cut Afterthought. Also featured on this volume are two tributes to Jimi Hendrix that the big man himself would be proud to hear - The Fabulous Troubadores' version of Hey Joe (here literally entitled Tribute To Jimi Hendrix) as well as a psych-soul cover of Stone Free by the The Good Earth. Side B kicks off with Lifeless, the farewell 45 from La Crosse, Wisconsin outfit Today's Tomorrow and also includes two cuts occupying the nexus of garage and psych-funk from Milk & Cookies and Sound Inc., along with the Del Counts's fierce organ-led funk instrumental Who Cares and a very special contribution from GIN whose Louisville Luck is one of two previously unreleased tracks. EXOTIC-O-RAMA + CD- VOL 2 Rare 45s from the 50s and 60s!-SAALE! Label:JUKEBOX MUSIC FACTORY Exotic-O-Rama' is certainly the most absurd and out-of-the-ordinary, the most fun and convivial series of '50s and '60s tunes yet compiled by dear ole El Vidocq. And Volume 2 presents a selection even more audacious than its smashing predecessor. Embark upon an eclectic safari through a lush pacotille of melodies, from groovy R'n'B mangroves (The Ramrocks) home to nestling toucans (The Century Five), to head-shrinking rockers (Bob Vaught) and doo-wopping crocs (The El Capris), not to mention a few veritable birds of paradise (Rosco Gordon)... Wildlife worthy of an Ed Wood flick! But while the ambiance often turns outrageous, keep in mind that these exotic ditties were concocted by the same trailblazing performers who would inspire Lux Interior of The Cramps and Fred Schneider of the B-52s... While most of the groups comprise colorfully daubed Yanks, there's also a stray Italian (Franco Ei "G5") and a passel of playful Mexicans (The Stardusters). The album art, signed Jampur Fraize, is one of the most sumptuous to date, which is saying something. Yet another tangy treat for the eyes and ears, brought to you by El Vidocq and his vine-swinging comrades.. COMP LP $19 SKU:20945

If you can imagine a rockabilly outgrowth updated through a grinder operated by Keith Richards and Rob Tyner, you have an idea of what to expect. SWAMP DOGG - Rat On!1971 SOUTHERN SOUL CLASSIC Ltd ed of 250 RED vinyl - Label:ALIVE SECOND PRESSING. AT ON!” (1971), was ranked as having one of the top ten worst album covers of all time, an achievement that Swamp Dogg is rightfully proud of. Vocally, Swamp Dogg sounds like a cross between General Johnson (of Chairmen of the Board) and Van Morrison; as a songwriter, he’s his own man. With the exception of Sly Stone, no other soul men of the period were investigating controversial topics with such infectious musicality and good humor. – AMG LP $20 SKU:14999

SWAMP DOGG - BLACK VINYL - TOTAL DESTRUCTION TO YOUR MIND gatefold with poster Label:ALIVE TOTAL DESTRUCTION TO YOUR MIND” (1970), has been called “one of the most gloriously gonzo soul recordings of all time”.
The title track is a slam-bangin’ chunk of rock and funk that’s pushed by a great session band including guitarist Jesse Carr and drummer Johnny Sandlin, and is easily Dogg’s finest moment on record. But the rest of this is great too, ranging from the consumer nightmare “Synthetic World” to the paternity blues of “Mama’s Baby, Daddy’s Maybe.” – AMG LP $20 SKU:15022

SWELL MAPS - International Rescue (70s post-punk rock legends BLACK VINYL -Label:ALIVE International Rescue is almost propagandist in its revisionism-- Swell Maps never sounded more like a real band. There should be a warning label affixed to this album to even the odds of people purchasing additional material: Absolutely the best record available by Swell Maps." - Pitchfork LP $18 SKU:16969

SWELL MAPS - Sweep the Desert (70s early post-punk rock legends ) -BLACK VINYL Label:ALIVE More rare and unreleased material exclusive to this release. "The first Swell Maps single I bought (Let's Buid A Car) still to this day gives me a soul scorched buzz'n'rush. As soon as Nikki Sudden's gr comes slicing slabbing and all out fuzzifying off that crackling vinyl groove you know yr gonna rock. The Swell Maps had a lot to do with my upbringing... I wish I saw them." - Thurston Moore / Sonic Youth - 1987 LP $18 SKU:13355

TELESCOPES -As Approved By the Committee FUSCHIA VINYL, last few copiesLabel:BOMP Originally released in the US in 2003 on CD only, this album compiles some of the band's earliest and best work, with material mostly out of print (and all of it previously unreleased in the USA), which originally appeared, with frequent chart success, on labels like Creation and What Goes On. The Telescopes were among the most innovative and challenging yet successful artists in Creation Records' "middle period", a leading part of the wave of sonic experimenters who included Spacemen 3, My Bloody Valentine, Spectrum and Spiritualized. Part of the British shoegazing movement given impetus by the JESUS AND MARY CHAIN and spearheaded by MY BLOODY VALENTINE, the TELESCOPES' sound borrowed from those two bands while adding their own garage punk flavor, experimenting with violins, trumpets, and dynamic contrasts. The vinyl version includes liner notes. Track listing : I Fall She Screams / There Is No Floor / Threadbare / Anticipating Nowhere / Please Before You Go / Silent Water / Everso / Never Learn Not to Love / Celeste / Flying / The Sleepwalk LP $30 SKU:11495

TELESCOPES - Untitled Second - ORANGE VINYL LAST FEW COPIES ( psych rock shoegaze) - Label:BOMP The Telescopes were among the most innovative and challenging yet successful artists in Creation Records' "middle period", a leading part of the wave of sonic experimenters who included Spacemen 3, My Bloody Valentine, Spectrum and Spiritualized. Towards the end of their time with Creation, they made their most fully realized album yet, "#' (untitled second). This is the first time this great psychedelic album is being released in the US, and it comes with 3 bonus tracks. "The songs are built on acoustic guitars, then the tricked-out electric guitars are laid on top and garnished with bongos, organs, pianos, and all sorts of classic instruments. Stephen Lawrie's vocals are restrained and semi-emotional and female backing vocals add a touch of sweetness that might otherwise be missing from the record, as the overall atmosphere is very moody and introspective." - AMG LP $25 SKU:11494

THOR'S HAMMER - ST SALE! ( Icelandic garage legends! 65-67) Label:GARDEN OF DELIGHTS Danish band’s Metronome album (1971), the one and only record by one of those groups that promised much, but never went further than an eponymous debut; their music was close to Burnin' Red Ivanhoe, Blast Furnace and the jazzy style of bands like Traffic, with long tracks with killer wah-wah guitars, swirling organs, wild vocals and twisted psychedelic sax-breaks; ‘Mexico’ is perhaps the most effective track on the album (paraphrasing the well-known sax riff from Traffic's "Freedom Rider"), although the whole record is strong. Their one and only LP holds the sad record of being the most bootlegged LP in Denmark. This first legal LP reissue is accompanied by a 4-page insert in LP format, containing a detailed band history in German, English and Danish language, a comprehensive discography including side and solo projects, cover and label reproductions, and band photographs. A deluxe edition, hand-numbered and limited to 1,000 copies, pressed on 180g vinyl. LP $15 SKU:18026

TOTAL REJECTION - The Time Traveller's 3rd Will And Testament (Garage rocking pop-psych heads)Label: RAVING POP BLAST! Garage rocking pop-psych heads , very possibly the best one yet. Taking their '60s influenced garage rock music a step further, 'The Time Traveller's...' finds deeper darker depths. Influences are worn on the front of t-shirts, quite openly yes, but you can actually believe these guys know what they're wearing! This album builds on the raw sound of its predecessors with a further blast of psych'n'roll. Tremelo and wah wah pedals get abused to squalling effect, Keith Moon-esque drums clatter and the Hammond wails. It's ALIVE! And THRILLING! The songs are stuffed with pop melodies and the sound has its tentacles over all manner of '60s bands - the cover of Bohemian Vendetta's 'Enough' gives a clue as to where the band's collective head is. The album is beautifully produced in a way it sounds like it wasn't produced at all. Totally raw and occasionally rough-edged, exactly how music was recorded, before technology smoothed everything out to near blandness. Guitars twang, chime, fuzz and wah-wah into a frenzy of excitement, vocals stretch beyond their abilities and occasionally scream and break, while the drums biff bang and pow (er) their way through, while somehow holding everything together. Organs swirl, and a variety of 'strange sounds' all of which were created by experimentation, rather than using modern day 'plug ins' or 'pressing buttons', will have you wondering, what is that?... TRYAD-IF ONLY YOU BELIEVE IN LOVIN'(1971 acid folk)Label: DEL VAL Last copies of this 2014 reissue of this excellent acid folk album. Del Val Records present a reissue of Tryad's 'If Only You Believe In Lovin'', originally released in 1971 as a private press. Ultra-deluxe LP reissue on the recently resurrected (and sadly now defunct) Del Val label, the obscure but legendary label previously responsible for early and collectible vinyl editions by The Brigade, The Bachs, Bent Wind, D.R. Hooker, Fifty Foot Hose, etc. Long overdue and much delayed reissue of this NYC private press few have heard and less have seen. Comparable to the best UK folk-fusion LPs of the era, this is like a Yankee version of Hunter Muskett's great 'Every Time You Move' (1970), with co-ed vocals plus bass/drums/pedal steel/flute/keys accompaniment. Consider this East Coast haunted not West Coast hip, though you'll be reminded of a certain revered private from out there that wouldn't exist for another five years: Relatively Clean Rivers. Comes with a four page lyric insert, and the cover is what they were made like fifty years ago, this one is a heavy duty, very excellent Stoughton tip-on jacket. LP $12 SKU:22511

TWANGS, LOS -ARE WE COOL ENOUGH? Spanish surf/R&R/garage)-Label:SLEAZY Los Twangs are the doggone kings of Spanish frat rock'n'roll. Their style jumps from surf to rock'n'roll and garage, with a pinch of rockabilly and pop. They were founded as a 100% instrumental combo, but nowadays they play and sing too -at least they try to!- and their stronger weapon is their dynamic and funny attitude on stage. LP $15 SKU:22138

WEDNESDAY KNIGHTS -MY PROBLEM IS YOU(60s/70s style garage punk)
Label:BACK TO BEAT My Problem Is You' is the debut long player from Norway's The Wednesday Knights, containing 12 songs recorded live in the studio over a weekend. The music is on the punky side of garage rock, taking inspiration from sixties garage rock, seventies punk and pub rock, eighties garage revival, Medway garage and rhythm & blues. The Wednesday Knights play garage rock without aping current trends in garage and without trying to sound like an exact copy of a 1966 band (you'll never see them in matching suits). Ten original songs and two covers (by The Modds and The Passions LP $18 SKU:23483

WEDNESDAY KNIGHTS (wild organ drenched garage punk) 10” Label:BACK TO BEAT Limited to 400 copies on black vinyl. Fuzz, Farfisa and pissed off snotty vocals! Here's the ten-inch debut EP by The Wednesday Knights, containing five songs of wild organ drenched garage punk. Hailing from Bergen, Norway, the band draws inspiration from 60's garage rock, 80's garage-revival, rhythm'n'blues, pub rock and punk energy, and blend it all into their own dark and primitive stew. Those Scandinavians have a dark and twisted mindset, and this is Bergman goes garage punk! The EP contains three rockers, one (relatively) slow and haunting number, and one blistering instrumental. Songs about lost love, mean women and general misery. LP $17 SKU:23283

POPI ASTERIADI with LAKIS PAPPAS - Another Sunday Gone-Label:WORLD PSYCHEDELIA “This is—we feel—quite simply some of the most beautiful music in a folk vein ever recorded; lovely, full of feeling, yet with the yearning and melancholy that usually only old, tired performers like Leonard Cohen can project into their singing... only in this case, it’s a little Greek girl who looks like Jean Seberg and a young Greek boy with guitar who are making this early Sunday morning music! If you like the Bulent album this same label released last year, or Nick Drake, or anything in that general vein, than this will, we think, appeal to you. Evidently, this is a key album in the Greek neo kyma (“new wave”) movement of the late 1960’s, which saw young songwriters take musical themes from the bouzouki music of the hashish bars, and translate them into painful, fragile, innocent poetic musings on everyday life—songs of intense longing, characterized by austere arrangements. In addition to the album, there are seven bonus tracks which appear to be some of Asteriadi’s singles, as well as a track written by famous composer Manos Hadjidakis for a film called Aliki, My Love. Liner notes are all too brief, but they include memories of her early career by Asteriadi, as well as a couple of paragraphs on the neo kyma movement. CD $10 SKU:20400

Doug Riley is a fantastic singer and this is indeed a very fine AOR album. I don't think you'll find better examples of pompy AOR than 'Behind Your Eyes' or 'Live Forever.’ An excellent blend of high class melodic rock with great use of backing vocals and loads of keyboard blasts coming out of everywhere! BUZZSAW JOINT -CUT 6: DUSTY STYLUS
Label:STAG-O-LEE (GERMANY) 'Buzzsaw Joint' was born of a club offering Londoners the chance to revel in the sounds of good ol' trashy rock'n'roll in all its vintage vinyl forms. SURFER JOE-Swell of Dwell (Dick Dale style) SAALE~!Label:DIONYSUS Very well known as one of the hardest working men in modern surf music, SURFER JOE has gained through the years the highest reputation in the world community for his musical skills and his well proven capacity to gather fans from everywhere. Although instrumental surf music has evolved in any possible directions from its Californian origins - so much that nowadays sometimes we call surf what is not really surf - SURFER JOE rmly remains into the traditional surf style using guitar sounds, melodies and rhythm patterns that are immediate identifiers of the genre. SURFER JOE plays surf music. Period. Going from the most aggressive tunes a-la- DICK DALE, to mellow and sentimental ballads, giving an extraordinary attention to the quality of the melodies. During his live performances he can go really loud and wild, but he is perfectly able to roll back, never scared to put in a slow song, driving the show the way he wants. All of this is, once more, re ected in his latest work: Swell of Dwell. LP $10 SKU:21038

UP - Killer Up! 10” SEALED Label:Total Energy The Up is one of those "should've been" bands. Similar in sound to Blue Cheer and political philosophy to MC5, Killer Up represents the complete recordings of the Detroit band from the '60s. Save for two singles, none of this material was released by the band while it was still together between 1967-1973. The Up was closely aligned with MC5, living with them in the White Panther Party commune in Ann Arbor and often sharing the bill with them at area concerts. But while the Five and fellow Michiganders the Stooges got record deals and fame, Up remained a regional act.The disc features both of Up's singles, plus several songs from a recording session at Head Sound Studios in Ypsilanti, MI, and some live cuts recorded at the Agora Ballroom in Columbus, OH, in 1972.High volume cuts like "Just Like an Aborigine" and "Free John Now" are further examples to back up the argument that punk rock was invented in '60s Detroit. It's hard to imagine Up gaining a mass audience, but the music on this disc makes one wonder why the band never broke on a large scale outside of the Midwest.
