NOTE: I take photos of 5 cassettes at at time because I’m lazy, but this is NOT a set, only the cassette in each individual listing is being sold.

We found a handful of cassettes in our storage area that were recorded and owned by the late, great GREG SHAW. Each cassette has a label either typed or handwritten by Greg himself, most of them from the 80s. These were tapes he used to trade with other collectors and for his own listening enjoyment.

DONT BE ALL ASKING ME WHAT’S ON THEM, these are being released because they are rather historical, not for their specific content. SOLD AS IS!

POISON BOYS- Out of My Head (Heartbreakers/Dolls/Thunders style) - Label:DEAD BEAT Real Rock ‘n Roll ain’t dead folks, and Chicago’s Poison Boys bring a sleazy, greazy dose of the good stuff. With three grimy dudes that look like they’re days away from rehab, the Poison Boys look exactly like the same kind of reckless, drug-addled scuzz rockers that Johnny Thunders was lookin’ to recruit when he formed the Heartbreakers just after his departure from the New York Dolls. And any one of these motherfuckers woulda fit right in as the core spirit of the Poison Boys is the syringe addled sounds of the Heartbreakers, the Dolls and Thunders solo material with echos of fellow guitar-slinging, riff ‘n roll disciples like Hanoi Hanoi Rocks, the Berlin Brats, Dead Boys, Nervous Eaters and the Joneses. ‘Out Of My Head’ lives up to it’s Junkie Rock name spewing the best kind of smutty, sloppy Rock & Roll sleaze across 12 guitar-centric, gutter dwelling tracks that reek of shitheads, ex-girlfriends, bad decisions and life gone wrong. The LP jacket is adorned with cool looking cover art by Alex Hagen and includes a lyrics sheet insert as well. LP $19 SKU:22040

REBEL SEt- SMIDGEN PIGEON (Garage beat surf) Label:OUTRO Pledging allegiance to the Fender Jaguar, the Farfisa organ, and the driving backbeat, The Rebel Set – singer and ear-piercingly loud guitarist Joe Zimmerman, tambourine-wielding organist/vocalist Katey Wilkins, and straight-shot drummer Jeff Doing – have doubled down on their own kind of sun-bleached, Phoenix, Arizona garage rock. It’s an aggressive kind of music. It’s a liberating kind of music. And it’s the kind of music that saves lives, while destroying everything else in its path. LP $18 SKU:22155

SLOP -ST (rock and roll MC5, The Stooges, and even Chuck Berry style!) Label:OUTRO Raw, aggressive, and pure rock'n'roll that brings to mind greats like MC5, The Stooges, and even Chuck Berry, without sounding derivative at all. TV PARTY -ST (classic guitar/vocals ALA Jam, Buzzcocks) Label:OUTRO For song writing and classic guitar/vocals driven presentation it doesn't get better than this! HONEYRIDER- SUNSHINE SKYWAY (infectious pop gems) -Label:DIONYSUS Florida's Honeyrider are one of the more widely buzzed about bands in the indie underground. Their first two releases on legendary UK label Damaged Goods Records—All Systems Go! (1998) and Splashdown (2000)—are infectious pop gems that won the group praise in publications such as the NME and Rolling Stone. The group has just completed their third album, Sunshine Skyway, which is their best effort yet. Like its predecessors, the new record is full of buzzin' Jesus and Mary Chain/Primitives guitar sounds, Beach Boys-styled melodies, and soulful psychedelic pop, but the songwriting here is even more potent, the lyrics displaying a personal side that vocalist/guitarist Gary Strickland has only hinted at previously. CD $5 SKU:19816

HORIES, LOS - What’s the Time? ( Garage/Rock ) Label:OFF THE HIP Los Hories have been holed up in their garage (yes they really do practice in a garage) next to a matt black ford panel van, churning out party anthems all summer. HOWELL, PETER & JOHN FERDINANDO - Tomorrow Come Someday w dvd ( 60s private press rarity) - Label:LION The second release (1969) from the home studio of future BBC Radiophonic Workshop composer Peter Howell and his musical partner John Ferdinando, makers of legendary albums under the names Alice Through the Looking Glass, Ithaca, Agincourt, and Friends. This private press album was recorded as the soundtrack for an underground film production by (later to be) renowned television director Ian Hamilton: "Tomorrow Come Someday." The soundtrack album, now presented from the master tapes, was originally pressed up in a tiny quantity for friends and people involved in the production; certainly no more than 70-80 copies were made. So what do we find here? A concept piece revolving around a village threatened by motorway expansion, and the efforts of short-skirted guitar-slinging young painter Emma Stacey and a local boy to save the day, and perhaps preserve their growing love. The film is described on the album jacket as “a musical comedy, shot on location in the Sussex village of Lurgashall, during August 1969,” which of course, doesn’t begin to tell the tale. Think perhaps of the Kinks’ “Village Green Preservation Society” characters come to life. See for yourself! For this is both the compact disc and DVD debut of “Tomorrow Come Someday,” film and soundtrack, together at last in a double-disc set. Chunky booklet with plentiful photos gives the full story of what we like to call The Wonderful Musical World of Peter Howell & John Ferdinando. CD $10 SKU:11958

CD includes 13 bonus tracks including a number of brief sections and effects including "March of The Chessmen, Part 1", "Jabberwocky Part" and "Jabberwocky Acoustic Section", "Whose Dream? I DELFINI - ST (1966 Italian beat) -Label:WORLD PSYCHEDELIA Maybe the best beat album to emerge Italy, first issued on Disco CDB in 1966 (?) or 1967; I Delfini (or, "The Dolphins" as it translates) made a pretty good splash in their day, and why not? the lads from Padua wrote tight, punchy songs, had good production values (RCA studios), could sing (always a plus), and threw in a Beatles cover at the end in English, just for kicks; lyrics and band photos in 8-page booklet are great (but where's a band history?). A strong album for beat music lovers CD $10 SKU:20152

IAH-11 (stoner/psych rock band from Argentina ) SALE!Label:NECIO RECORDS AH is an instrumental stoner/psych rock band from Argentina that creates heavy spaced-out sounds. ICECROSS - ST (73 ICELANDIC PROTO METAL!)Label:ROCKADROME This 1973 Icelandic hard rock underground monster has been the target of collectors for at least two decades! Carefully remastered for pristine sound that lays waste to all the bootlegs that have come before. 12-page booklet with liner notes, clippings and photographs. Icecross possess a unique dark sound which reveals influences ranging from Sabbath to Crimson to Blue Oyster Cult and beyond all melded together in such a way to form their distinct Icecross style. Considered proto-metal by many, though they don’t achieve this with a typical smash your face approach. Instead, Icecross unleash some killer inventive guitar sounds by way of Leslie speakers combined with ominous effected bass lines and splendid use of bow to create a perfect dark heavy guitar album. One of the few, if not the only, Icelandic band inspired by Sabbath at that time. Press: "Their album has been legendary among collectors for years. All in all this is an album of overwhelming power with an underlying, uncomfortably penetrating coldness. Obviously one for guitar lovers or those willing to delve into the more obscure history of heavy metal" - Scented Gardens of the Mind CD $14 SKU:17329

IGRA STAKLENIH PERLIST (stunning Yugoslavian 70s psych)-Label:ATLANTIDE Reissue of impossible to find psychedelic masterpiece. Made in the mid 70's in old Yugoslavia. This is one of the best Pink Floyd-esque psychedelic albums. Stunning guitars and killer keyboards. Anyone into heavy psychedelia needs this one!” First album from the ultimate ex-Yugoslavian space/psychedelic rock band, formed in 1976 in Belgrade, Serbia, having been named after the famous novel by Hermann Hesse, "Das Glasperlenspiel" (The Glass Beads Game). The original line-up consisted of: Zoran Lakic (keyboards), Vojkan Rakic (guitar), Predrag Vukovic (percussions) and Drasko Nikodijevic (bass & vocals). In late 1977 Dragan Soc joined the band as drummer while they played live concerts at Belgrade clubs, preparing to start recording their first album, which they did in mid 1978. Upon its release the next year, the band gained reputation for elaborated visual stage effects and light show directed by their friend Goran Cvetic. IGRA STAKLENIH PERLI labeled their music style as "stream of consciousness music". Both studio albums, the eponymous "Igra Staklenih Perli" from 1979 and "Vrt Svetlosti" from 1980, are pretty similar in sound and resemble the style from early Pink Floyd and Hawkwind psychedelia, to German kraut-rock (notably Can and Tangerine Dream) CD $12 SKU:20305

INFINITY- Collected Works 1969-70 (UK psych legends) Label:ACME Legendary UK psych outfit Infinity formed in 1969 from the ashes of “Chocolate Soup” psych faves the Flies and Cymbaline. The mission: to develop a heavy psychedelic/pop sound, and express it through complex original songs. Thanks to some funky Hammond organ, punchy guitars, and the band’s unique harmonies, Infinity were no run of the mill outfit. Upon their return to mainland England from a residency in Jersey, they joined the high-profile NEMS agency, alongside heavy hitters like Pink Floyd, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Soft Machine, and Pretty Things. In late 1969 and early 1970, following support slots with The Searchers and Marmalade, Infinity recorded original material for a proposed album, which was meant to explore “time, space, matter, energy and chicken phal, said in some circles to be so hot in a culinary sense that it's temperature approached infinity,” or so they have said, with tongue-in-cheek, we have to believe. Sadly, they broke up soon after the sessions. The good news is that the band left behind the recordings presented on this disc, which can now be enjoyed in the digital format after the passage of more than four decades! Comes with a 24-page booklet which includes band history, photos, and more, printed on FSC recycled, chlorine-free, 100% post-consumer fiber paper manufactured using biogas energy. CD $10 SKU:11333

IRON CLAW- ST ( 70s Scottish underground heavy rock) Label:ROCKADROME "First official release of early 70s Scottish underground heavy rock recordings from this group who were stomping around the UK with the likes of Black Sabbath, Hackensack, Pink Fairies, Juicy Lucy and others from the time, but never released a proper album. Their name, Iron Claw, was taken from the first line in King Crimson's song "21st Century Schizoid Man". In the beginning, Iron Claw probably became the world's first Black Sabbath tribute band, as they incorporated the entire first Black Sabbath LP and single into their set! This collection of sixteen original studio tracks documents their existence from 1970 thru 1974 and features a wonderful 16-page booklet with extensive liner notes, lyrics and photos!" Members Bryan G. Malone (The Forty-Fives), Shane Pringle (Tiger! Tiger!, Go-Devils), and Pietro Digenarro (The Booze, Midnight Larks) produce an electric and driving rock & roll sound that draws from a variety of influences such as early Stones, Sonics, Remains, Roky Erickson, MC5, Dead Moon, Moving Sidewalks, Scientists, Howlin' Wolf, and Chuck Berry. Having formed in 2016, the band soon found themselves being asked to perform in venues all over the Southeast with acts such as Guitar Wolf, NoBunny, and Subsonics. BLOODY HOLLIES - Who To Trust (bluesy garage punk) SWIRL VINYL -LAST COPIES! - Label:ALIVE This album is the embodiment of the no frills, off the cuff, blues punk rock that The BLOODY HOLLIES are admired for. They do what they do with skill, perfection, and flat out better than anyone else. "The Bloody Hollies are a bass-less, blues-drenched riff monster fronted by a powerfully hoarse singer-guitarist, and they will turn your ears and limbs to jelly if you let them, which you should." - Pop Matters. "The Bloody Hollies' new record is so dirty, it makes me want to grow a mustache and start wearing v-neck T-shirts. With gritty guitars, stabbing vocal and, oh yes, harmonica, it's like garage rock did a shot of punk and chased it with a glass of blues. - Alternative Press LP $18 SKU:11938

GRAVE FLOWERS BONGO BAND- FLower Pot (scorching 70s-UK-a-delic spiel,)Label:PERMANENT Gabe Flores is in charge of at least half the electricity as lead guitarist in L.A.’s cataclysmic Hooveriii, but Grave Flowers Bongo Band (with Vaughn Christensen and Andy Caly) is his acoustic project—which isn’t to imply it’s any less intense. First single “Sacred” is a frantic two-minutes not far from (as their bio accurately promises) pre-T. Rex duo Tyrannosaurus Rex and/or/especially Steve Peregrin Took’s Shagrat, with bongos a la Lemmy’s early outfit Sam Gopal and a general sense of barely contained Syd Barrett-style chaos. Really, “Sacred” is a scorching 70s-UK-a-delic spiel, delivered in one long desperate breath. Think of it as freaked-out folk more than freak folk, and file it as close to Fresh Maggots as you can LP $22 SKU:21635

IL BALLETTO DI BRONZO - Serio 2222 - W 12 PAGE BOOKLET ( Raw-edged heavy rock JIMMY PAGE STYLE ) -Label:LION Raw-edged heavy rock, fronted by Lino Ajello's powerful electric guitars, channeling the dark, jagged energy of Jimmy Page, Adrian Gurvitz, and Jeff Beck. Il Balletto di Bronzo absorbed their influences (Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, The Yardbirds), but moved from there into an inspired, hard-edged musical space; the band's overwhelming power and great melodies make them irresistible. ‘Un posto’ and ‘Neve Calda’ are centered around simple but effective guitar riffs. ‘Eh eh ah ah’ starts like a nice mellow ballad, but gets into a hard blues rock groove. On side two, there's the seven-minute mammoth heavy grind of ‘Incantesimo’ and the colossal ‘Missione Sirio 2222,’ almost ten minutes of droning acid rock with whirling guitars and heavy pounding drums, sandwiched between an acoustic intro and outro. No wonder Nurse With Wound cited Il Balletto di Bronzo as an influence. Digipack comes with 12-page color booklet discussing Il Balletto Di Bronzo's strange legacy. CD $10 SKU:16072

ISLEY BROTHERS -Go For Your Guns: Expanded Edition 1977-Label:BIG BREAK Released in 1977, "Go For Your Guns" reached #1 on the R&B album charts and #6 on the Pop charts and has gone on to become many fans’ favourite Isley Brothers album. The first single 'The Pride (Part 1)' topped the R&B singles chart and was followed by the funk rock of 'Livin' In the Life,' which reached the Top 5 on the R&B chart and also the US Pop Top 40. However, the album’s true lasting classics are the oft-sampled 'Footsteps In the Dark' (which became the basis for Ice Cube's 'It Was a Good Day') and 'Voyage to Atlantis,' which although only a small R&B hit at the time, later became a Quiet Storm radio classic and a staple of the band’s live shows. IVORY ELEPHANT - Stoneface(heavy blues Hendrix style) Label:KOZMIK ARTIFACT Scraping out of the grit of Brunswick (Melbourne, Australia), The Ivory Elephant are a three-piece playing heavy blues. Joining the blues/rock renaissance of bands such as The Black Keys and The White Stripes, and with a sound often likened to Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin, The Ivory Elephant bring their own thing to the style. On this album the band really gets deep in to psych. The blues is still in there, but it's hidden behind a lot of fuzz and reverb CD $15 SKU:21558

JAN -WEIGHT OF LONELINESS (T-Rex, David Bowie, Led Zep style) Label:BIPBIP . A record influenced by bands such as T-Rex, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Beatles, Lenny Kravitz or Suede. CD $10 SKU:21504

JARDINE- Look in the Window( lost jewel of late-1960's UK psych)Label:LION Jardine’s album was recorded in three glorious weeks in June 1969, at Sounds Aquarian Studios, a stone’s throw from that justifiably famous fashion hub, Carnaby Street. The sessions were fun. Polydor was supposed to release the album. Musicians dropped in to say "hello" and ended up on the record (uncredited)—among them Peter Frampton, Andrew "Andy" Bown (Herd and Status Quo), and Brian Appleyard (drummer from East of Eden). Singer Mickey Cox had been in Robert Plant’s pre-Led Zeppelin group The Band of Joy—it was Cox, in fact, who became their singer when Plant left the band. But suddenly, thanks to band management problems, the LP was shelved. Keith Law, who had written all of the songs, joined Velvett Fogg for their only album, and Jardine was forgotten. Now, forty years later, you can be among the first to discover the brooding excellence of these tracks, music both strange and sinister, with moments of fragile beauty. There are some very pretty songs here (haunting melodies abound), but there is no escaping the dark side of life (‘Masochists of Strangulation,’ ‘Execution of the Child,’ and monumental dirge ‘Blackbirds of Jardine’, which tells of self-same birds, and the fact that they will “destroy you, and leave you pain, pain, pain”), songs perhaps more akin to the band Comus than to anything else we have encountered from the psychedelic era. There are also heavy guitar solos, churning organ, flute, and flowing sitar, for good measure. A 16-page booklet includes a band history lyrics, and comments on the songs by Keith Law. A lost jewel of late-1960's UK psychedelia, from a short-lived but charismatic band! CD $10 SKU:10134

BEAU- Creation (Acid psych weirdness 1971) SALE! Label:SOMMER Originally released for John Peel’s Dandelion label in 1971, “Creation” was the second album by underground folk troubadourTrevor “Beau” Midgley, recorded with psych band The Way We Live as backing group. Influenced by Tom Paxton, Leadbelly and Dylan, Beau started to write his own songs in the late 60s. After trying to secure a contract with Elektra Records with no success, he was approached by Clive Selwood (Elektra UK) and John Peel, who were launching a new label, Dandelion Records. Beau signed to them and released his eponymous debut album in 1969. For his second effort, Beau decided to experiment with a more folk-rock sound and add to the mix some avant-garde influences. Jim Milne (lead guitar and bass) and Steve Clayton (drums) from Dandelion stablemates The Way We Live / Tractor were the perfect backing band for him. “Creation” is a brilliant psych-folk / acid-folk offering with superb 12-string guitars, heartfelt vocals, studio effects and occasional acid-fuzz guitar. Beau’s avant-garde influences came to the fore on the title track, which verges into White Noise territory. The album closes with “Silence Returns”, featuring one of the most ear-splitting fuzz assaults ever committed to wax, courtesy of Jim Milne. Master tape sound. Four page insert featuring the first cover design whish was never used plus detailed liner notes by Beau himself and lyrics. Two previously unreleased bonus tracks from 1972 (featuring Tractor as backing band) which were recorded for “High Mass”, an aborted third Beau album which was never released at the time. “It’s a consistent album full of tone, deft playing and thoughtful lyrics that demand and reward attention” – Simon Crisp (Galactic Ramble) LP $14 SKU:20552

BEN-ISRAEL, DANNY- Kathmandu Sessions (SAALE! Awesome late 60s psychedelic freakouT) - Label:ANAZITISI From Dusty groove “ Here's some pretty awesome late 60s psychedelic freakout gems from a cat we'd never heard of before -- Israeli citizen Danny Ben-Israel -- who only ever recorded a couple of albums worth of material! The massive, free-spiraling tunes that comprise the first 3 tracks on this record combine the kind of way out space trip electric guitar that Hendrix played live but never recorded, and stable bass, drums and Eastern-tinged keyboards that keep it all rock and roll -- no matter how out there Danny's wailing vocals and lyrics go. LP $19 SKU:20818

BISCUIT -TIME FOR ANSWERS (60s style psych freakbeat) -SAALE! Label:NO TOMORROW Biscuit is one of those (rare) bands than take their inspiration mainly from 60s sounds (beat, garage, psychedelia, freakbeat, hard-rock, folk-rock, soul, rocknroll) but do not sound like just another 60s band. Their sound is uniquely their own, and trying to compare them to another band is so silly that lazy reviewers come out with comparisons as diverse as Urge Overkill, Soundtracks of Our Lives, the Byrds or The Prisoners in the same line. Which of course are all wrong. What is sure right is that these guys have a good thing going when it comes to combine meaty, solid guitar riffs with beautiful melodies. They know the secret of how to make well-crafted, passionate songs, the kind that grow with every listen. They can rock as fuck one minute and melt your heart the next. You can feel the anger, rage and desperation in their songs, but also the gratefulness, love and tenderness. You can feel the people behind the music. In a phrase, they've got soul. In my book, a truely classic record". LP $14 SKU:19899

BIXBY, DAVE - ODE TO QUETZALCOATL (legendary 60s Michigan private press loner folk-Label:GUERSSEN Since its discovery in the late 90s, Dave Bixby's legendary $2000 private press album from 1969 is considered by all serious record collectors as the king in the loner/downer folk genre. After being involved in 60s Michigan folk and garage-rock bands such as The Shillelaghs and Peter & The Prophets, Bixby started playing acoustic guitar and experimenting with LSD. After a year of drug abuse he felt broken. Starting a soul-searching, spiritual journey, he wrote "Ode to Quetzalcoatl" and most of the material for his second album, Harbinger's "Second Coming" in just one month and a half. Assisted by fellow musician Brian MacInness, who played some guitar parts on the album, Dave recorded "Quetzalcoatl" using a echo-laden four track machine in a flats living room. The sound is lo-fi and sparse: just acoustic guitars and some occasional harmonica & flute, added to Bixbys haunting, emotional vocals, spiritual lyrics and solid songwriting. The opening cut, the eerie and painful "Drug Song" sets the mood perfectly for the rest of the album which contains more tormented titles like "666", "Lonely faces", Open Doors", "Secret forest". Never an acoustic folk album sounded so intense as this. Reissued for the first time under license from Dave Bixby. Carefully remastered sound from vinyl (no master tapes exists) done at Shadoks Music Studios, insert with extensive and detailed liner notes by Matvei Procak - the guy who found Bixby in 2006 - plus some rare pictures. LP $19 SKU:10010

BRAINBOX- Dark Rose (60s Dutch psych ) - Label:PSEUDONYM It comes packaged in a magnificent gatefold-cover with rare photos and liner-notes including exclusive interview material. Remastered in the 24-bit domain from the original master tapes. Brainbox was something special. The band not only featured some of the Netherlands' most preternaturally talented musicians, but in less than three years they produced a recorded legacy that was truly world class. Much of their best work appeared on their 1969-71 singles, which have been compiled on this definitive 2-LP collection, pressed on 180gm vinyl and dynamically re-mastered from the original tapes. The original lineup with lead-guitarist Jan Akkerman, bassist Andr Reijnen, drummer Pierre van der Linden and vocalist extraordinaire Kaz Lux deliver the goods on pile-driving blues rock songs like 'Down Man' and 'Dark Rose,' and the hard-hitting Hendrix-inspired rocker 'Amsterdam, The First Days' -- all presented in their original mono mixes. After Akkermans departure, Brainbox expanded its musical palette with guitarists Rudy de Queljoe (ex-Dragonfly) and John Schuursma (ex-Rob Hoekes R&B Group), recording memorable tracks like 'Between Alpha And Omega,' 'Doomsday Train,' 'Mobilae' and the blisteringly powerful 'Virgin.' Dark Rose / Their 45s also includes previously unreleased demo-versions of 'Virgin,' 'Dark Rose' and the epic 'Sea Of Delight.' LP $26 SKU:14720
