On this 1966 album, they tackle surf on "Barbara Ann (Vas a Ver)" and "Fun, Fun, Fun (Voy, Voy, Voy)"; garage on The Kinks' "I Need You (Te Quiero)" and The Sorrows' "Take a Heart (Tomas un Corazón)"; British Invasion pop on "She's Not There" and "Tired of Waiting"; jerk and even a classic tango song from Carlos Gardel. It's all played with fantastic youthful energy and the group is both tight and just rough enough around the edges to give the songs a bit of garage-y immediacy. Check it out!

LOS PACIFICOS - Havana 1967(Beatles/Kinks style)-Label:DAPP Only known recording of late 60s Cuban rock music inspired by The Beatles and the Kinks, of course. The tapes were stashed in a closet and smuggled out decades later. Digipak. An old tape missing for more than 30 years in warm and humid Cuba. Nine rock songs recorded in 1967 in two hurried hours, with borrowed instruments and without previous rehearsal. Four students, each about 17 years old, who filled the Havana student underground with the peace logo and forbidden music for two years: music that sent people to jail, or provoked strong discrimination just by listening to it. An incredible performance with professional standards, recorded in a completely censored environment. A musical program with covers of the Kinks, Beatles, and more, as well as original Cuban rock songs written by Los Pacificos. A unique session stolen from a system that locked doors to rock and peace. The only known recording of a Cuban rock band from the sixties. CD $12 SKU:21639

MAELSTROM - ST (U.S.early 70s psych style) Label:BLACK WIDOW This early 70's band (not to be confused with American metal band MAELSTROM) made some great instrumental fusion with tinges of KING CRIMSON and early GONG. They also mixed early 70's psychedelia with organ and sax evoking VANILLA FUDGE as well as multiple breaks, odd rhythms and complex instrumental interplay à la GENTLE GIANT; the moods and vocals are in the vein of IT'S A BEAUTIFUL DAY.An overlooked US band, formed in early-70's and led by guitarist/keyboardist/sax player Robert Williams aka Roberts Owen (R.I.P.).The original line-up featured also multi-instrumentalist James Larner, keyboardist Mark Knox, drummer Jim Miller, bassist Paul Klotzbier and Jeff McMullen on lead vocals/guitars. Maelstrom had a private press LP out in Canada, recorded in 1973 at Fort Walton Beach in Florida and very rare nowadays, originally released under the title 'On the gulf'. Why this band is so overlooked remains a huge mystery to me, as Maelstrom had one of the most eclectic and intricate sounds back in the days.Every track shows a different amount of influences and musical approaches, always played under a very complicated yet well-structured musicianship, offering a huge and dramatic sound like a cross between ETHOS, CATHEDRAL and YEZDA URFA. There are strong amounts of melodies and acoustic passages in the vein of GENESIS, huge sax-based more improvised sections in the vein of VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR and SOFT MACHINE, smooth electric parts with delicate vocal harmonies as tribute to CARAVAN, complex interplays as GENTLE GIANT first ever presented and YES-like adventurous symphonic orchestrations with a superb atmosphere.Heavy loads of Mellotron and organ, jazzy-flavored sax atmospheres, dramatic orchestrations with good electric parts, instrumental battles and endless changing climates can be detected constantly, leaving the most demanding proghead satisfied. In 1997 Black Moon Records re-issued the album in CD format under the title 'Maelstrom' and this work contains a couple of extra tracks recorded live by Maelstrom in 1980 at the 'Three Rivers Festival' in Indiana with only Owen and Klotzbier from the original line-up along with keyboardist Kent Overholser and Rollin Wood on drums.'Opus one' has a strong E.L.P. vibe with organs leading the way along with some dramatic synth work in a classic Symphonic Rock track, while the longer 'Genesis to Geneva' is a bit more of a loose instrumental composition again in a symphonic rock path but surrounded with some more avant-garde/fusion atmospheres, where synths, organ and electric guitars are on the forefront. ARCADIUM- Breathe Awhile (ACid drenched 60s heavy psych ) SALE! - Label:ETHELION Originally released in 1969. Arcadium's ominous, cathedral-like organ, distorted guitar and anguished vocals are clearly derivative of bands such as The Doors, Iron Butterfly and Vanilla Fudge - very much in the 'downer-heavy' school of the genre that was popular at the time. Their album is something of a bad-trip soundtrack that relies on minor-key melodies, ghostly harmonies and anguished vocals. What with all its flaws - bad production, sloppy vocals and doomsday atmospherics - its historical significance is immense. The music's intensity and sense of urgency, the blazing acid-drenched guitars, the tortured vocals and heavy nightmarish sounds all perfectly convey the late '60s atmosphere. LP $22 SKU:21452

IHRE KINDER-Empty Hands (“Leere Hände”,English version) 1968 German prog psych) Label:MISSING VINYL Ihre Kinder, formed in 1968, and were the pioneers among the politically and socially engaged groups in Germany. Their second album Leere Hände was originally released on the legendary KUCKUCK label in 1970. The English version, called Empty Hands, has never been available on vinyl. There was a small number of white label copies pressed by Deutsche Grammophon in 1970/71 to solicit releases by Polyram companies around the world, but as there was no interest, the label dropped the idea. So, now it is the first time ever, that the English version of Leere Hände is being pressed on vinyl, with the original Kuckuck label and number, the original track-listing order and the cover as it would have been adjusted for the English version. A great German progressive psychedelic effort, which sounds different and familiarly great in English, that should be part of every serious 70s progressive rock collection. Limited edition, deluxe 180g vinyl, printed inner-sleeve.” LP $20 SKU:21010

ILIAS ASVESTOPOULOS & 2002 --O Siderenios Anthropos -The Iron Man( Great Greek psych/prog 1974)-Label:APS NOVA (Greece) Ilias Asvestopoulos was a previous member of the garage band Persons (with members of the legendary Socrates) playing mostly covers of known hits (i.e. 96 Tears). He founded 2002 in 1974 (!), and together they recorded two albums. It’s the second LP, "O Siderenios Anthropos" (The Iron Man) that gets people excited. It’s an essential gem with great guitar /organ work. Not a stoned psych jam album here, but a very enjoyable psych/prog LP typical of the period—but really ahead of it's time for the just "out of the junta" Greek reality of this partciular period of history. A mega-limited numbered edition of 250 copies LP $19 SKU:20960

REVIEWS-
Harbours wild fire in his breast. – MOJO ( 4 star review)
If you’re a fan of gunnite gypsy punk with a rocksteady back beat, James Leg is your eternal ediface. There is nothing like a Leg record and there never will be, no one plays like him, no one growls like him, and certainly no one rocks like him. He’s a world travelled stalwart and will be forever a gem in the Blues crown. – NO DEPRESSION

The Jerry Lee -meets-Lemmy of the keyboards. – VIVE LE ROCK

Part Howlin’ Wolf, part Iggy Pop, he’s the new standard-bearer for the rebels, the new punk in a land of posers. – ELMORE MAGAZINE

Leg steers a beautifully distorted, heavily chorused Rhodes progression backed by a crafty drumbeat with a lyrical delivery reminiscent of the dark lord himself. – NO DEPRESSION

Greasy and groovy as hell, the whole thing's a trip. – R2 LP $60 SKU:17878

KALACAKRA Crawling to Lhasa - PIC DISC of psych jewel 1972 (SLIGHTLY dinged copies BARGAIN ! Label:GARDEN OF DELIGHTS (Germany): Picture disc of this psychedelic jewel, that fully deserves its mythical, mystical reputation. Kalacakra's "Crawling To Lhasa" contains eight tracks of mantric acid-folk self-released in 1972 by the apparently drugged-out duo of Claus Rauschenbach (guitars, kongas, percussions, vocals, harmonica, slentem) and Heinz Martin (electric guitars, flute, piano, vibraphon, schalmi, cello, violin, synthesizer). Their strange, hippie sense of humor and obsession with the culture of Tibet (the name Kalacakra is the Tibetan term for "wheel of time") results in some fantastically nonsensical, eastern-influenced psychedelia. The album begins with the dark, hypnotic ‘Nearby Shiras’, a song about a plague-ravaged town in old Persia; as their crawl to Lhasa continues, Kalacakra venture into zones of lovely folk-strum and raga-rock, before the album wraps up with a deranged and damaged blues stumble called ‘Tante Olga’. Garden of Delights do their usual thorough job with a thick insert full of liner notes (in German and English), plus photos of Claus and Heinz looking about as weird and long-haired and hippie-ish as it's possible to get! Limited to 1000 hand-numbered copies. Includes an 8-page insert. LP $16 SKU:20885

KANE, EDEN - It’s Eden MONO (ORIG PRESSING 1964 MONO) VG+ pop before the Beatles! ) -Label:FONTANA • Eden Kane – the stage name for Richard Graham Sarstedt – was a big star of that early 60s period now sometimes labelled ‘Pop Before The Beatles’. Eden is the older brother of musicians Peter and Clive Sarstedt.• After a lone single for Pye, he hit the top spot with his first of many 45s for Decca, ‘Well I Ask You’, which now appropriately lends its name to the first-ever compilation of Eden’s entire recorded output. It was followed by three more Top 10 UK hits over the next year: ‘Get Lost’ (no. 10), ‘Forget Me Not’ (no. 3) and ‘I Don’t Know Why’ (no. 7).• In due course, Eden made seven singles, three EPs and an album for Decca before switching to Fontana Records in 1963. Again, the relationship yielded an album and seven singles (alongside an EP) but while Eden’s music matured, he struggled to maintain the same level of chart success as before. LP $10 SKU:20852

KEDAMA - Live at Sunrise Studios(1976 Private press Kick-ass psych/prog hard-rock-Label:SOMMOR RECORDS Swiss heavy-prog / kraut monster from 1976, originally released as a private, hand-made edition of 200 copies. Long instrumental / experimental tracks fuelled by Mellotron, Hammond, Minimoog, ripping distorted guitar and heavy drums. Kedama came from St. Gallen in the north-eastern corner of Switzerland, near the Bodensee (only a few km from Germany and Austria). Their name was inspired by Ketama, Morocco (famous for its cannabis fields). They were amongst the first bands (probably the first) to record at Etienne Conod’s legendary Sunrise Studios, using the "kunstkopf" artificial head system. "Live At Sunrise Studios" comprises four long instrumental tracks, two on each side of the LP. A digital download card is included, featuring the album plus seven bonus tracks taken from unreleased studio sessions and the compilation “Perspectives”. This is essential stuff, from the weird psych-funk of “Hwrlnzg” to the sitar-drenched“Improvisations”. *Insert with rare photos and liner notes by Alan Freeman (The Crack In The Cosmic Egg) *Repro of a rare promotional booklet *LP includes digital download card of the album plus seven amazing bonus tracks, 1973-77 *Numbered to 550 copies. LOST SOULS--ST mid 60s unknown U.S. Brit Invasion/ psych)Label:LION The Lost Souls never released any records, yet the meager recorded evidence that survives indicates that they were one of the finest unknown American groups of the mid-'60s, able to write both catchy British Invasion-type rockers and, in their latter days, experimental psychedelic pieces with unusual tempo changes and song structures. The band were also unusual in their occasional embellishment of the typical period guitar-bass-drums lineup with flute, sax, and mandolin. Although popular in their Cleveland hometown, they broke up in 1968 to attend college. Rhythm guitarist Denny Carleton, who wrote and sang some of their best material, went on to briefly join The Choir, their chief (and more successful) rivals." —Richie Unterberger The music scene in Cleveland in the mid to late 1960’s was ripe with talent: the James Gang with Joe Walsh and Glenn Schwartz, The Choir, Eric Carmen (pre-Raspberries), Glass Harp with Phil Keaggy, the Damnation of Adam Blessing… and the Lost Souls. Of all those bands, only the Lost Souls never released a record. Then again, they were in high school, trying to navigate dress codes and bullies—and playing in front of a couple thousand fans when not suspended. Sure, they lost a battle of the bands at Teen Fair 1968, but it was to the James Gang with Joe Walsh. And somehow it is the Lost Souls who emerge from that time and place with the greatest mystique and some of the most adventurous music, music which few have heard. Lost Souls main songwriter Denny Carleton released a cassette of the band’s original recordings in 1984. It received airplay on hundreds of college and public radio stations in the USA (and around the world), and garnered glowing reviews… and that was it, until now.Not only is this the first time the music of the Lost Souls has been available since that cassette, our Lion Productions edition is the first release for many additional Lost Souls cuts, including alternate versions of key tracks like the insightful ‘Things That Are Important’ and ‘I’m Falling’ (the closest to a hit the band ever had), all taken from the original tapes and carefully mastered. Seven bonus tracks highlight the work of Lost Soul's main songwriter Denny Carleton (one-time member of The Choir, and more surprisingly, punk legends the Pagans); selections by The Choir, Moses, Milk and Carleton, many in all possible low-fi glory, recorded on various 4-Track devices, ranging from power-pop to grimy garage.•Whopping 32-page booklet has the full story of the band and info on the recordings by Carlton
•Includes a multitude of unseen photos from his personal archive
•Carefully remastered from the original tapes (+ the occasional post-Lost Souls 45 single)

LOVETONES - Be What you Want (AUSSIE psychedelic pop) promo- LAST copies Label:Evil 9 (same as regular, in plastic envelope with a drilled bar code, but includes booklet.)Although these guys are from Sydney Australia, if you didn't know any better you'd swear they were from the UK, as Be What You Want is filled with the kind of textural, psychedelic-tinged sounds that the un-informed mainstream press will liken to Radiohead. Lead vocalist Matthew Tow (formerly of Drop City) possesses a powerful instrument indeed, which serves the band well on cool, Brit-pop tunes like 'The Sound And The Fury', 'Give It All I Can', and 'Something Good'. The album has its lighter moments as well; 'Drink The Night (My Love)' will recall Squeeze with its octave-separated vocal harmonies and 'The One And Only', with its soulful bent guitar notes, is as catchy as pop music gets. There's also the standout ballad 'It's Always Been This Way', which has the kind of gut-wrenching impact that Dennis Wilson provided on Pacific Ocean Blue. Good stuff, this! (Shindig review).
"Guided by brilliant production, Be What You Want, is a pop-rock classic. Distinguished by golden melodies and a subject matter that is emotionally direct and largely autobiographical, the Lovetones are reviving the true essence of psychedelic pop."[Rolling Stone]
"The best Australian band you haven't heard of yet. This punchy debut will be blasting from a radio speaker near you soon. It leaves you hungry for more."[Courier Mail].
Out of print now, BUT we have a few promo copies, packed in heavy plastic sleeves rather than jewel cases and with a hole drilled thru thebar code, otherwise like regular copies CD $5 SKU:10387

LUCK OF EDEN HALL -SUBTERRENE(swirling psych magic )-Label:MYOPIC Originally formed in the early nineties, the band reformed in 2002 resulting in this album which is brimming with swirling psych magic played and produced by Greg Curvey and Mark Lofgren. After the reverbed and phased psychedelia of "Baby Moon", the album lifts off with some dextrous guitar playing that levitates "Device" high in the clouds, a rippling flute adding shards of light to the tune. A poppier Steve Hillage vibe is created on the title track, the drums well up in the mix as the guitar drives through the song with reckless abandon, held together by huge washes of synths that reverberate across the room. Consistently strong throughout, fans of Tyrnaround, Dukes Of Stratosphear, Reefus Moon, or Bevis Frond will not be disappointed, as the album is a hook-laden psych-pop classic with a wonderfully rich and warm production that tumbles out of the speakers with lysergic glee. On the drifting "Whereever Sends" a west-coast feel is magically invoked, the instruments dancing around each other like sunlight on crystal, full of blissful thoughts. Finally the band take us home with the floatation tank happiness of "Goodnight" the perfect way to close this softly spoken trip inside your head. (Simon Lewis) CD $15 SKU:21660

M.O.T.O.- NO SLEEP 'TIL TURKU (New Orleans based garage punk / power pop legends )-Label:BIPBIP Hard-On Rockïn Roll! New Orleans based garage punk / power pop legends M.O.T.O. are back with their tenth full length album. The Record is co-released by Airiston punk-levyt, Blast of Silence records and Svart records - all hailing from Turku, Finland. The songs on this album were recorded in studio "Dwyers" earlier this year while the primus motor of the band, Paul Caporino, visited Finland (early January 2012). The album was later mixed and mastered by Caporinos trusted man, Garret Hammond (Kill MOTO, Raw Power, etc), in Downers Grove, USA. This time Paul Caporino brings you wore down catchy up-tempo tunes with a lo-fi, under produced sound guaranteed to rock your socks off! Visitors in this album consist from the cream of the alternative scene in Finland: Niila Kunnari (Boredom Boys, God Give Ass, The Heartburns) on drums, Kerttu Vauras (Khatarina, Kovaa Rasvaa) on guest vocals in "Big Emotional Life" and Mikko Luukko (Sweatmaster) on guitar - just to name a few. After 30 years Caporino still delivers and M.O.T.O. is very much alive and kicking CD $10 SKU:21507

MACKAY,DUNCAN- Chimera (70s prog w bonus track)Label:FRESH first time reissue of this 1974 debut album by ex Cockney Rebell/10CC keyboard player (he also played with Kate Bush and Camel), Duncan Mackay. It’s an epic prog rock album in the vein of Rick Wakeman, ELP and Patrick Moraz and is highly recommended for keyboard driven prog rock fans. Remember those heady days of the early 70’s, when a trio of keyboard wizards—Keith Emerson (ELP), Rick Wakeman (Yes) and Jon Lord (Deep Purple)—were winning all the polls and dominating the album sales? Duncan Mackay's “Chimera,” recorded in 1973/4 and forever forgotten by all but the most devout, is a brilliant slice of 70s progressive keyboard-based rock. All three of the wizards mentioned above are obvious influences, but McKay clearly stamps his own sound onto this three-track album. (only three tracks? well this was 1974, the era of 'Tales From Topographic Oceans' by Yes). This reissue includes a bonus track, to make it an even four. CD $14 SKU:20405

MACKAY,DUNCAN-- Score (70s prog w bonus track)Label:FRESH Rock keyboard genius Duncan Mackay hooks up with heavyweight players like John Wetton (King Crimson, Asia), Steve Harley (Cockney Rebel) and the London Symphony Orchestra on his second album "Score". Released in 1977, it marks a departure from the all-instrumental direction of his debut "Chimera" to a more traditionally structured rock album without losing his prog rock virtuosity. Highlighted by soaring vocals, stellar playing and sweeping epic songs, "Score" is a welcome addition to Duncan's musical legacy." CD $14 SKU:20411

MADS Molesto (Psych Rock Wild Masterpiece 1968-1971) Label:LION Deluxe ed. w glossy insert full of photos Bi-lingual booklet with band history + lyrics & gig poster- Los Mads started out in the mid-1960's, playing covers and a few of their own songs on Peruvian television. But a chance sea-side encounter with Mick Jagger and Keith Richards after a private party got the Mads the chance to go to England; interest from Stones' manager Marshall Chess got them backstage to see Hendrix at the Isle of Wight—and recording time in the Rolling Stones studio. Some demos recorded there and at Jagger's Stargroves castle (recorded live to studio truck, just like Led Zeppelin did for their third and fourth albums) plus a name change to Molesto got them gigs at the main venues in London. They jammed with Steve Winwood and Brian Davison (The Nice); they played with Jeff Beck and Carmine Appice; Molesto's guitar player, Alex Ventura, worked in a clothing boutique alongside Freddie Mercury and Roger Taylor. They were in the musical heart of England. And at that point, faced with growing friction within the group, Molesto disbanded. This disc collects recordings from all three stages of Los Mads/The Mads/Molesto's six year career, including two tracks from the Stargroves session. The early tracks are groovy post Summer of Love stuff: 'Birds in My Tree' is a musical creamsicle, just right for summer nights. The excellent eight plus minute instrumental 'Tumor Bossa' has a Santana-esque feel. But the flamethrower guitar on Molesto tracks like 'Feels Like Love' and 'Fly Away' (which luckily clocks in at more than seven minutes) needs to be heard to be believed. Hard driving and heavy; wild, fast, rhythmic, and furious: top of the table stuff. Most tracks are sung in English. Like all Repsychled titles, this is available exclusively from Lion Productions and our friends. CD $14 SKU:15326

ASTRAL DAZE- PSYCHEDELIC SOUTH AFRICAN ROCK 1968-1972
-Label:TAKE IT ACID IS '1968-1972' - This collection brings together rarities from well-known artists like Abstract Truth, Suck, Otis Waygood, Freedom's Children, John & Philipa Cooper, McCully Workshop and Hawk, as well as lesser known acts like Buzzard, The Fireflies, The Idiots, Tidal Wave, and The Invaders. Although the South African rock movement of the late sixties and early seventies was not a major commercial success, its participants heralded an exciting new age in South African rock and started a movement aimed at changing the musical tastes of fans in a spectacular way. Stadium concerts became the vehicle for feeding the youth with heavier rock sounds, and behind studio glass were producers like Clive Calder, Billy Forrest, Graham Beggs and Selwyn Miller who acted as change agents to transform conventional pop into heavier 4 to 5 minute songs. The movement's struggle for recognition through airplay remained unanswered and only the true fans of rock knew about their existence. Available on vinyl for the first time, complete with insert and liner notes

BEYOND THE CALICO WALL V/A (Excellent 60s acid-punk sampler) Label:VOXX LAST PRESSING of classic 60s psych! We thought this one was out of print, but found a few jackets at the pressing plant Excellent acid-punk sampler put together by New England collector Erik L. Issued fairly late in the game but recycling lots of weird psych numbers for the first time. A few tracks fall into the pointless-noise/novelty category but overall this was one of the best comps of the early 90s. All of the pieces are unbridled master strokes of the proto-punk D.I.Y. mentality married to the equally inspired garage rock psych of the mid- to late '60s. In a significant nod to collectors, none of these sides can be found on run-of-the-mill "best-of" anthologies, and there are only a mere handful that are available in any other incarnation. The material ranges from highly infectious pop melodies such as Duffy's spry rocker "Come Back Come Back" or the speed-fueled madness of the Waterproof Tinkertoy's trippy "Continuation." There are also a fair amount of indescribably acidic and downright far-out cuts, including the repetitive "Suzie's Gone" by the Afterglow and the rambling of Ceylib People's "Changes." In addition to the plethora of unearthed gems, Beyond the Calico Wall features a few familiar titles -- such as the faithfully extended 11-plus minute reworking of "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" from 6 Feet Under as well as Rasputin & the Mad Monks' jet-propelled rendering of "I Had Too Much to Dream (Last Night)." Bhagavad Gita includes a mid-tempo distortion-driven electric guitar wailer titled "Long Hair Soulful," which was co-written by Chuck Mangione -- who included his version on his Eyes of the Veiled Temptress (1988). It is unknown if the famed jazz flügelhorn player was once a member of this Ohio-based band. COMP LP $20 SKU:21917

A groovy journey through Africa, Latin America and the Middle East of the 1950s, whose singular exoticism seduced listeners. EXOTIC-O-RAMA + CD- VOL 2 Rare 45s from the 50s and 60s!-Label:JUKEBOX MUSIC FACTORY Exotic-O-Rama' is certainly the most absurd and out-of-the-ordinary, the most fun and convivial series of '50s and '60s tunes yet compiled by dear ole El Vidocq. And Volume 2 presents a selection even more audacious than its smashing predecessor. Embark upon an eclectic safari through a lush pacotille of melodies, from groovy R'n'B mangroves (The Ramrocks) home to nestling toucans (The Century Five), to head-shrinking rockers (Bob Vaught) and doo-wopping crocs (The El Capris), not to mention a few veritable birds of paradise (Rosco Gordon)... Wildlife worthy of an Ed Wood flick! But while the ambiance often turns outrageous, keep in mind that these exotic ditties were concocted by the same trailblazing performers who would inspire Lux Interior of The Cramps and Fred Schneider of the B-52s... While most of the groups comprise colorfully daubed Yanks, there's also a stray Italian (Franco Ei "G5") and a passel of playful Mexicans (The Stardusters). The album art, signed Jampur Fraize, is one of the most sumptuous to date, which is saying something. Yet another tangy treat for the eyes and ears, brought to you by El Vidocq and his vine-swinging comrades.. COMP LP $22 SKU:20945

JOHN THE CONQUEROR - ST LTD EDITION of 100 on MELLOW YELLOW VINYL LAST COPIES! - Label:ALIVE John The Conqueror’s self-titled debut album is an amalgamation of the many sounds and styles (old and new) mined from both the North and the South. Cousins Pierre Moore (vocals & guitar) and Michael Gardner (drums) are natives of Jackson, MS, while bassist Ryan Lynn hails from Philly – where the trio now call home. Together they mix a bedrock of raw deep blues with funk, soul, punk and scuzzed-up rock-n-roll into one helluva potent musical Molotov cocktail. Moore and Gardner have been playing together in bands since their college days in Oxford, MS, and Moore learned to play guitar in his early teens from a homeless man who slept in the back room of an auto repair shop.

"The trio from Mississippi, now based in Philly, have the smoothness of classic 50’s soul mixed with a southern twang." – Knuckle Rumbler

"It’s all smokestacks, greasy ball bearings, mudslides, and corn liquor swilled from mason jars; raggedly scorching guitar riffs, a thunderous rhythm section, and howled vocals. ‘Say What You Want’ rockets me off my rear every time." – Brian Greene / Happening Magazine

"Leader Pierre Moore has a matter-of-fact singing voice, tasteful six-string skills and a tuneful writing style that balances licks and melody and avoids classic rock overload." – Michael Toland / The Big Takeover.

"They will bring you from the church to the juke joint in four quick minutes." – Mad Chicago

"John The Conqueror's new LP is downright street smart funky." – Jeffrey Morgan's Media Blackout.

"Pierre Moore is a charismatic frontman, strutting the stage, ripping away at guitar licks and belting out dynamic vocals. Joining Moore are his cousin Michael Gardner, a force of nature on drums, and local guy Ryan Lynn, who brings a rumbling low end to the mix." – The Key WXPN LP $20 SKU:14630

Can a riot be started by the slow and on low volume? - NO- the title says it all (a mix of The Clash classic and Peruvian Andean mythology). Since their fabulous debut album "Hacia El Sol Rojo" the group evolved into a mighty tight "wall of sound" (not just live on stage); but still keeping their sensitive feeling to hypnotize a wide spectrum of Rock freaks who like it intense! - Look forward to hard driven riff/solo guitars, pumpin overdosed bass, crazynwild marching tribal drums, combined with outer space effects & noises - the dark euphoria will make you stand up and dance! If you missed the MC5, The Stooges, Bored! or Los Saicos good old times, this is your ticket to an extreme psychedelic punk trip. (first 500 copies are issued with a 4 track bonus EP, containing a cool cover of Joy Divisons Shadowplay). Again, they are back and they want your brain for party...for revolution...cause right now is time to FIESTA & REVOLUCION! LP $22 SKU:21742

In the combination of song selection, in the clarity of this recording, and in the lyrics that seem to deal with heartbreak and loss, not deals with the devil, with the deep morass of a depression you learn to live with more than the blues that get put upon you—the reason this album is singularly great is that it is pure expression. That you can also kind of shake your ass to. - AMERICAN STANDARD TIME

Todd's droning blues figures display the influence of guitarists like Junior Kimbrough and John Lee Hooker, players whose playing could be described as raw, but display a powerful elegance. - PHOENIX NEW TIMES

While they round out the sound with light bass and a bare-bones rhythm, each song falls into a hypnotic trance of restless guitar vamps. - JESTER JAY

With finger-picked guitar and personal reflections on life, friends, and simplicity, the title refers to both the soul of the album as well as the creative process, which began in Todd’s remote shack in New Mexico. - RECORD DPT

This is a simple record, but in a deceptive way. On first spin, the minimal instrumentation and similarity in tone, tempo and volume among the songs made for a homogenous listen. Several spins later, I’d say it takes a deeper level of attention to really recognize/appreciate the unique elements of each song. – VINYL UNDER REVIEW
