HYPNOTIC BRIDGE RESTOCKS

BEVIS FROND - A Typical Freakout (incendiary psych!) - Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE With influences ranging from Hendrix to Cream and The Byrds to The Wipers, The Bevis Frond has been making some of the most astoundingly incendiary psychedelic songs of our time. The legendary initial albums were recorded by the band’s guiding force, Nick Saloman, in a bedroom studio in London during the last years of the 1980s, and with the pandemic-induced lock-down in full force during the first years of the 2020s, Nick returned to playing all the instruments for his newest release on Hypnotic Bridge. Using his typical set-up, multi-instrumentalist Nick Saloman employed a 1960s Vox Continental keyboard, 1970s Burns Flyte guitar, 1990s Epiphone bass (which somewhat resembles a Hofner Violin), and a house kit for the drums. All sounds emanated from a 1970s Carlsboro Stingray amp. 45 RPM $10 SKU:25163

BHOPAL’S FLOWERS- Diamond Queen-Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE b/w “The Majestic Purple Sky -A collective of like-minded musicians led by Lionel Pezzano and based in Montreal, Canada, Bhopal’s Flowers are inspired by both Eastern and Western influences in their soulful, sophisticated approach to songcraft. 45 RPM $10 SKU:23211

CHEMISTRY SET- Paint Me a Dream (psych Hendrix,Love style) -Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE Pioneers in the late ‘80s UK neo-psychedelic scene, Dave Mclean and Paul Lake founded The Chemistry Set in 1987, releasing mind-melting sets of songs on Manchester’s alternative Imaginary label as well as the cassette-only Acid Tapes label. Known for their sophisticated original songcraft as well as their uncanny ability to interpret often obscure (but always classic) psychedelic songs with unparalleled cover versions, The Chemistry Set have taken some the most lysergic works of The Pink Floyd, Love, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Rolling Stones, Del Shannon, The Moody Blues, Tomorrow and more to exciting and unexpected placesThe band took an extended hiatus in the mid ‘90s until remarkably reappearing in 2008. The return came about when their unreleased LP from 1989, “Sounds Like Painting,” somehow was uploaded onto numerous blogs and downloaded over 5,000 times. The second stage of the band has seen the release of four albums, five vinyl singles and several compilation appearances.Praised by musical royalty from John Peel to David Axelrod and lauded in a wide spectrum of music media, the band’s prolific catalogue of releases have been accompanied by extensive tours throughout the UK, Europe and the United States. 45 RPM $10 SKU:24348

DREAM PHASES-HELEN HIGHWAY (60s style garage psych ala Byrds, Gary Numan, paisley underground) Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE As the synths on the song attest, "Helen Highway" was written while listening to a lot of Gary Numan, with the synthesizer tracks layered in a way that lets the listener fall into the song and be swept along. The lyrics relate how we only get one chance at life, reminding us not to be complacent and to remember we can change continually, pursuing the life we truly want to live. With the influences of not only Gary Numan, but The Verve and The Velvet Underground, the song builds to an ending of pure release."Tandy" is about reflecting on a past relationship and questioning its outcome. Written with a garage-psych feel influenced by L.A.'s Paisley Underground movement (The Rain Parade, The Dream Syndicate, The Three O'Clock), it's a song writer Brandon Graham envisions being played by DJ friends at local psych club nights. Like The Creation, the band uses a bow on some of the guitars to create an especially unmistakable psychedelic sound. A 12-string Rickenbacker overdub on the bridge is evidence of Brandon's immersion in a massive book on The Byrds (especially their 1965-68 heyday) while making the song. 45 RPM $10 SKU:24004

ELECTRIC LOOKING GLASS - Death of a Season ( Bee Gees, Left Banke and Kinks circa '68 influenced) Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE Electric Looking Glass are a baroque pop group from Los Angeles whose shared love of early Bee Gees, Left Banke and Kinks circa '68 informs their phenomenal songs. Fresh on the scene, the four far-out dandies create flash melodies in full harmony with jangly guitars, whirling Hammond and a belting backbeat. Sounds of yesterday, visions of tomorrow, yet fully focused on the perfect here and now.
Death Of A Season With a slow, groovy build riding deep, powerful currents of Hammond organ and buoyed by ethereal vocals, “Death Of A Season” envelops you in its sensuous sea of psychedelia before taking you to the top of a tidal wave of intense, climactic glorySomeday Soon”

Filled with heavenly harmonies, harpsichord, and jangly guitars, “Someday Soon” takes you to a place that exists only within the grooves of the song itself. It’s an ode to an unattainable idea, a four-minute fantasy about that “magic other-place” we sometimes find when we cross the Hypnotic Bridge. 45 RPM $10 SKU:21637

JOVIAN TEA -Strange World (glorious psych-pop )Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE b/w “Red And Green Talking Machine” . Though we’re not sure which song was originally intended as the A-side, intuition tells us it was “Strange World” (though both songs are equally wonderful). “Strange World” is classic psychedelia from the first line of the lyrics, relating the musings of a whimsical soul who, lying horizontally, looks up and reflects on how watching a fly traverse the ceiling makes it feel as though he’s upside down. The perspective then shifts to that of the fly, who laments how the people below continually try to destroy its kind. We suspect the song’s unknown author was a fan of The Pink Floyd (and Syd Barrett in particular).

“Red And Green Talking Machine” is the tale of a frustrated young fellow, quite possibly the same one who’s been observing diptera dancing on the plaster skies above, bemoaning the lack of “keenness” on the part of his pet parrot, who apparently isn’t much of a talker after all. Sheer psychedelic brilliance. 45 RPM $10 SKU:24993

LAISSEZ FAIRS -10,000 Tomorrows- IYL Roger McGuinn. Fairport Convention. Lord Dunsany. The Who. Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE b/w “From Field To Field Dreams and rivers. Oceans and prisons. Inner battles. Outer cages. The bards of old. The '60s loom large... be they the 1660s or the 1960s... from O'Carolan to Keith Richards and a thousand books and whistles in between. The influences are smashed together violently... and tenderly. William Blake. Roger McGuinn. Fairport Convention. Lord Dunsany. The Who.The instrumentation on both “10,000 Tomorrows” and “From Field To Field” is actually more than that produced by physical instruments. It is often the way they are recorded: the placement of mics (or the deliberate lack of mics), the use of effects on a guitar passage for impact and its removal as its sound goes elsewhere. Sometimes the vocals become a vibrato that sound like what you could hear at the feasts of the ancient Irish High Kings. The sounds are acoustic and electric, mechanical and spiritual. 45 RPM $10 SKU:23756

MAGIC SHOPPE - Doppelganger (60s style Byrds influenced)- Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE Coincidentally yet appropriately labeling their reverb-heavy sound as “hypnotic,” Magic Shoppe’s single for Hypnotic Bridge leads off with A-side “Doppelgänger,” a song originally titled “Salventius” after the Dutch artist known for his “single-line” drawings of faces. Shelved from an earlier project, the name “Doppelgänger” was actually suggested by Salventius, given it’s a sort of “double” for the original concept for the song. Songwriter and lead guitarist Josiah Webb used three fuzz pedals (with a “fully cocked wah” at the end) with tones turned to pure treble for the fuzz. The ending riff is a nod to Roger McGuinn: highly compressed, clean and with maximum treble, creating a tone that evokes The Byrds’ “Eight Miles High.”

Not a reference to San Francisco’s airport but, rather, an acronym for “Skintight Futuristic Outfit,” “S.F.O.” was conceived and tracked in a single session. The band originally intended to play the song quickly, then reverse it completely, possibly adding forward overdubs, but after hearing the results decided to give it more of a “split-brain” dynamic. The first part of the song is played normally, but after some intentional audio degradation (and Vox Cheetah/Fender Twin amp feedback), descends into a total reverse copy of the beginning, with the exception of a forwards vocal overdub. 45 RPM $10 SKU:22188

MARK & THE CLOUDS-You And Me In Space” b/w “Clocks-Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE Psych pop for the 21st Century, “You And Me In Space” takes us on a cosmic trip to the edge of the galaxy, fueled by love and a blissed-out dissolution of all that keeps us from soaring beyond our everyday confines. Recorded in an industrial estate in North London, the band set the scene by filling the room with multi-colored lights before deploying a full range of vintage equipment and psychedelic effects: backwards Telecaster through a Big Muff pedal, Hofner bass, space-age organ and even high-pitched, fuzzed-out vibrations made by blowing through blades of grass. Recorded during the “Waves” album sessions and selected specifically as an exclusive song for the Hypnotic Bridge 45, “Clocks” is dedicated to those who love the sound of the wah-wah guitar in its most psychedelic setting. Drummer Shin Okajima’s dramatic drum on the intro was inspired by the style and sound of the traditional Japanese Wadaiko. 45 RPM $10 SKU:24910

PREMONITIONS-Some Strange Lust (Elevators and LSD) -Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE ” b/w “Once In A Blue Moon We wanted to make a solid A-side that represents our sound and what we go for, but let us be honest here: “Some Strange Lust” is about dropping LSD—the romance of it and the lust for the feelings it brings. You might notice we threw on a bit of electric jug in tribute to The Elevators.
On the B-side, we left ourselves even more room to explore, which is a formula we’ve been using for the last few singles. “One In A Blue Moon” is about a dream, and we had all had part in writing the different sections. The second section, which features Veronica Bianqui, came to me as I was drifting off to sleep and woke me right up as I knew I had to write it down. The next section Jesse wrote, and so on. We used many instruments to bring a full, orchestrated, psychedelic feel, including autoharp, ring modulator, Marxophone, harpsichord and other things we've never used before. The song was a blast to make and we're super stoked with how it came out.Singles are pressed on 7-inch, 45 rpm vinyl records. 45 RPM $10 SKU:24906

RED RIVER DREAM-Silver Ship (West Coast psychedelia meets moody folk rock)Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE b/w “Somewhere At The Edge Of Time” While “Silver Ship” sails through a hypnotizing yet perilous red river of fuzz, organ, and lyrical naivety, “Somewhere At The Edge Of Time” emanates a haunting, tumbleweeds-under-apocalyptic-skies atmosphere. Both songs reverberate with the iconic glory of the American West, serving as a psychedelic soundtrack for high adventures as yet unrealized. Singles are pressed on 7-inch, 45 rpm vinyl records 45 RPM $10 SKU:24992

SEEDS -VAMPIRE/ BUTTERFLY CHILD (60s garage psych) Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE The Seeds remain amongst the most beloved and iconographic of the original 1960s garage-psych avatars. To many, their edgy dissonant sounds and relentless fuzz-fuelled drive, tinged with flights of psychedelic fancy, makes The Seeds the quintessential exponent of the genre, as heard on such classics-for-the-ages as “Pushin’ Too Hard,” “Can’t Seem To Make You Mine” and “Mr Farmer.” Their eponymous 1966 debut album has long been recognized as a minimalist rock ’n’ roll masterpiece, while its sequels, the pop-art A Web Of Sound and florid Future, have also grown more influential as time goes on. For decades, the name The Seeds was most closely identified with the activities of their eccentric vocalist, the late Sky Saxon, but the first, path-finding line-up was always a collaboration, the musical director of which was, without a doubt, keyboard whiz Daryl Hooper. Now, in the 2020s, as the only surviving original Seed, Daryl has reclaimed his birthright with a new and powerful set of Seeds personnel: band historian Alec Palao on bass, singer/frontman extraordinaire Paul Kopf, and Sky Saxon alumni Mark Bellgraph on guitar and Justin Smith on drums. 45 RPM $10 SKU:24292

SIMIAN LIFE-Another Way Down(Rob Campanella) Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE Largely inspired by the lush, semi-orchestral soundtrack work from late ‘60s and early ‘70s Europe, this track layers a repeated string theme and solos by sitar and saxophone over a driving, rock backbeat. n making “Another Way Down,” the brothers Campanella were joined by Misha Bullock on drums and vocals along with Gabriel Lazar on piano. In producing the track, they were inspired by the studio wizardry and experimentation that came out of the latter half of the 1960s, much as it did with Revolver-era Beatles. For example, a Roland Space Echo tape delay and ADT (Artificial Double-Tracking) were applied to the vocals for an otherworldly vibe. Additionally, they used a recording technique known as varispeed on the guitar solo, which was purposely recorded at half-speed and an octave lower, thus giving it a frantic effect when sped up to song’s actual tempo. The flip side, “Briefing,” is an excerpt from a forthcoming Simian Life song that took on a life of its own. On it, Matt Cooker provided the cello, Isabel Escalante the violin, Garret Wayne Walters the saxophone, and Rishi Dhir of Elephant Stone the sublime sitar. 45 RPM $9 SKU:24068

TIMOTHY EERIE-I Fear The Void Is Waiting For Me--Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE “I Fear The Void Is Waiting For Me” (inspired by a serious dose of mushrooms and the resulting experience of dissolution and rebirth) and “Acid Lake” were both recorded in a few different places. Bass, drums and rhythm guitar were tracked live at a studio on a college campus. The band slipped into BB King’s as they were closing one night and recorded the organ parts on a vintage Hammond and Leslie setup in about 15 minutes. The vocals and other overdubs were all done in the bedrooms of the various band members. The idea was to make the songs sounds as loud, fast and energetic as they sound live. 45 RPM $10 SKU:24907

"Absolutely essential debut release so much so that you'll never want for those Pebbles compilations ever again." - Losing Today Debut album by this Detroit rock'n'roll trio formed by ex-members of the Hentchmen, Sights and Cyril Lords. "Awash with bursts of energy and moves into industrial punk territory with krautrock influences." - The Guardian CD $10 SKU:23677

SSM (Szymanski, Shettler, Morris)- Break Your Arm For Evolution -with Dan of the Black KEys on Guitar !) Label:ALIVE The follow-up to their acclaimed 2006 self-titled debut. "Break Your Arm For Evolution" finds John Szymanski (vox, keyboards), Dave Shettler (drums, programming), and Marty Morris (vox, guitar) further expanding their sonic horizons and fearlessly morphing genres. SSM likes to flirt and "Break Your Arm For Evolution" is not merely a title but an earnest philosophy : the endlessly catchy Daft Punk-meets-The Seeds of "Déjà Vu," the psychedelic kraut rock'n'roll of "Regenerate Your Face" transforms itself into the synth pop of "Let's Make a Baby", which metamorphoses into the indie alternative dance "Start Dancing" and quickly burst into the punk rock "Emotional Tourist", all the while challenging the traditional conventions of pop songwriting. "It's common knowledge that you can't teach an old garage band new tricks. Or, at least I thought it was common knowledge that garage bands forever stayed in the garage, until I put on this new track by SSM, "Start Dancing." On this number from their second album, SSM have updated a steadfastly rigid genre with a synthetic, robot groove that bridges the divide between Detroit's storied histories of techno and garage." - I Rock Cleveland CD $5 SKU:23708

ST. THOMAS PEPPER SMELTER - Soul & Pepper mini slv replica (Peruvian 60s psych freakbeat )- Label:LION PRODUCTIONS (USA) & REPSYCHLED RECORDS (Peru) The first official reissue of this much-bootlegged classic South American psychedelic freakbeat album, recorded in 1969 by Peruvian band The (St. Thomas) Pepper Smelter. Perhaps the story of the band is not well known, but their achievements were great—and international: editions of their sole LP were produced in Peru, Mexico, Brazil and Ecuador, and 45rpm singles were published in Mexico and Greece. St. Thomas Pepper Smelter was formed by Gerardo Manuel Rojas on vocals and tambourine, Beto Tataje on rhythm guitar and lead guitar, Juan Carlos Barreda on bass and vocals, Carlos Manuel Barreda on drums and backing vocals (all from the famous group Los Shains), and Freddy Macedo on keyboards. Their first single was a cover of ‘Purple Haze’ b/w one of their own compositions, ‘A New Summer.’ The band then began to record their only LP. That album contains twelve tracks—six written by the band, and the other half cover versions. The band's music could be described as freak beat; in many ways, it is a preview of the garage /surf style of Los Shain's, heading towards the heavy psychedelic rock of Gerardo Manuel & El Humo. At the time, St. Thomas Pepper Smelter simply called it “underground music.” Gerardo’s voice is soft in the band’s own songs, and aggressive on the cover tunes; his guitar style oozes fuzz. The foundation of bass and drums by the brothers Barreda is very powerful and strong; and the songs benefit from the layers of keyboard played by Freddy Macedo. This fully licensed, hand-numbered, limited edition CD release comes in a mini-LP sleeve replica of the original album art; it also comes with a replica of an original poster; a replica of an original color photo of the band. More importantly, it includes three previously unreleased bonus tracks exclusive to this edition. Carefully remastered from the original master tapes and released in this limited edition of 400 copies, available exclusively worldwide from Lion Productions. CD $10 SKU:14479

STIFF LITTLE FINGERS- Assume Nothing. Very Best Of” 2xCD -Label:MUSIC CLUB DELUXE An excellent compilation from one of the greatest socially conscious first wave punk bands. Includes all the hits and more. Includes some singles mixes which were never released in the U.S. Stiff Little Fingers were heavily influenced by The Clash. “What the Clash’s first album did more than anything else was give me the confidence, through its lyrical subject matter, to realise it was OK to write about my own life and experiences,” said STF main songwriter Jake Burns. The group started to write songs about growing up in the Troubles in late 1970's Northern Ireland. “Assume Nothing. Question Everything” is a pretty appropriate title for what Stiff Little Fingers have done since they broke upon the scene in 1979. Right from the start they were either criticized or lauded for their choice of subject matter. Since then, the band have continued to plough their own furrow. Listen to this 44-track collection whilst reading Jake Burns' sleeve notes and you'll understand why CD $12 SKU:24856

STONEBIRDS -Time(French heavy rock SAALE!Label:ACID BUZZ Hailing from central Britanny (France), STONEBIRDS came out in 2008 as a quintet, inspired by both surrounding desolated landscapes and bands like Queens Of The Stone Age, Kyuss, The Melvins and Alice In Chains. The 2018 album "Time" confirms the band's unique style matured on "Into The Fog" and its ability to write deeply emotional and complex songs. Once again recorded at Kerwax, this record is darker and more contrasted with heavier metal parts and lighter atmospheric moments. STONEBIRDS asserts itself as a singular voice in heavy music landscape. CD $10 SKU:20177

STONER - TOTALLY ( heavy blues, desert rock and psych rock jams) SAALE!Label:HEAVY PSYCH SOUL f the name Stöner seems a little on the nose, well... it is. Brant Bjork and Nick Oliveri, founding members of the stoner rock legend Kyuss, are joined again by drummer Ryan Güt (of Bjork's solo band) and they've got dibs on the thick and dusty swinging grooves, returning as Stöner with their sophomore release 'Totally...' Stöner's love for their early inspirations (bands like Blue Oyster Cult, Kiss, Ramones, Blue Cheer, Misfits, Black Flag, The Stooges, MC5) result in big, groovy, sunbaked riffs that can cruise low and slow but then floor it and run all the red lights. Live, this is a band about the magnetism between the players, the groove, the loose vibe and straight up badass rock and roll... Stöner are masters of their trade. With 'Totally...' Stöner is in its true form, getting together and having fun. Stöner's world is a colorful joyride, heavy of rock but not of head. The record cranks with vibes of classic hard rock, heavy blues, desert rock and psych rock jams - things that come organically to this trio. Stöner can't help but express an abundance of punk rock rawness and passion for real rock and roll swagger. With two records, 'Live At Mojave' and 'Stoners Rule' (available on Heavy Psych Sounds), 'Totally...' sees the band realizing the chemistry of these old friends developing a statement of pure rock and roll fun.

Produced, recorded and mixed by Yoseph Sanborn and Stöner. Guest appearances on guitar by Greg Hetson (Circle Jerks) and Mario Lalli (Yawning Man). CD $17 SKU:25127

STRANG, JOHN - SHAME AND STIGMA (1972 private press) Label:SEELIE COURT 380 copy limited edition first pressings in mini card gatefold sleeves, from Glass Masters (not cdrs)John Strang's sonic journey into psychiatric rehabilitation has been painstakingly reconstructed from cassette tapes and crumbling studio reels. Composed as a concept album in 1972 this could have come out on Transatlantic, but the deal fell apart at the seams, and the recordings have remained unreleased for fifty years. Charting the experience of mental disentigration and recovery, this may have been an abstract manifestation of the genesis of Sir John Strangs career swing into Psychiatry. CD $20 SKU:24932

STRANG, JOHN -THE MASTERPEACE (1968 private press folk rock) Label:SEELIE COURT 380 copy limited edition first pressings in mini card gatefold sleeves, from Glass Masters (not cdrs)A super rare privately pressed folk rock album from 1968 is now finally available on a bigger scale! The LP was originally pressed in a super limited run of 25 copies, which nowadays are obviously unaffordable! Sir John Graves, who after his musical career became a leading authority on the psychiatry of drug addiction, recorded this delightful, somewhat Donovanesque LP with two friends (Valentine Lewis Lloyd and Martin Farquharson) in Wales when he was only 17 years old. CD $20 SKU:24933

STRAY-Mudanzas (1966 hard rock prog)- Label:TALKING ELEPHANT Stray had a prolific career, yet managed to elude the fame enjoyed by contemporaries like Cream, Thin Lizzy, or even Mountain. Formed in 1966, the hard rock, prog, and R&B outfit comprised of vocalist/guitarist Del Bromham, vocalist/guitarist Steve Gadd, bass player Gary Giles, and drummer Ritchie Cole signed to Transatlantic Records and released its debut, self-titled album in 1970. The group flirted with success throughout the '70s, releasing nine more records. “Mudanzas” (“Changes”) was their 1973 album. ‘I Believe It’ is an elegiac number crowned with a guitar solo reminiscent, in key, to ‘Stairway to Heaven;’ ‘Pretty Things’ more urgent, with room for blistering six-string work from Del Bromham. The guitarist did away entirely with these frills on more stripped-down, fan-familiar hard rock efforts like the Quadrophenia-esque ‘It's Alright Ma!’ and the Status Quo-styled boogie rock of ‘Hallelujah.’ He then led the group down distinctly Beatles-ish roads on ‘Oil Fumes and Sea Air’ and ‘Soon as You've Grown.’ Del Bromham (guitarist): “When we were signed up by Wilf Pine of Worldwide Artists, his decision was to take us off of the road for a while as we’d been constantly gigging for years. He thought coming back after a period of absence with a new sound and look could be what was needed. So now music was going to be the top priority. I remember when Wilf heard the new material for ‘Mudanzas’ he said: ‘I thought I’d signed the new Black Sabbath, but I think I’ve found the Beatles instead.’” CD $12 SKU:24857

SUNSHINE REVERBERATION-ST(garagepunk,psych/krautrock) SAALE Label:WESTERGAARD Heavily influenced by garagepunk, psychedelia and krautrock creating a sonic space similar to artists like King Gizzard, Oh Sees, The Groundhogs and White Fence. Sunshine Reverberation are calm, controlled and dreamy before they suddenly launch into noisy, fuzzy punk workouts. They are indeed a four-headed hydra: grinding, wringing and twisting every drop of acid out of rock'n'roll's rotting corpse. CD $17 SKU:23555

SWAMP DOGG - Rat On! digipack- Label:ALIVE Digipack cd RAT ON!” (1971), was ranked as having one of the top ten worst album covers of all time, an achievement that Swamp Dogg is rightfully proud of. Vocally, Swamp Dogg sounds like a cross between General Johnson (of Chairmen of the Board) and Van Morrison; as a songwriter, he’s his own man. With the exception of Sly Stone, no other soul men of the period were investigating controversial topics with such infectious musicality and good humor. – AMG CD $12 SKU:15001

ROXY- ST -1973 Power pop GREG SHAW FAVE (sealed original, with drill hole) ORIG PRESS Label:Elektra This album should get its positive due for yielding some catchy and spirited pop songs.

Perhaps some of the overhype can be traced to Bomp magazine editor Greg Shaw who in the liner notes to 1973's Dudes album on CBS went overboard in his praise. There is a great composition on this self titled album by Roxy, and that is 'Yesterday's Song,' a pretty, eerie, moody, well sung, well constructed, well performed piece of music surrounded by other well-performed tunes which are competent, but not the next coming. LP $14 SKU:25536

SANDSTONE- Can You Mend A Silver Thread (70s rare private press acid psych)Label:MISSING VINYL Sandstone's sole 1971 privately pressed album is one of the best and rarest early 70s US psychedelic folk rock records. Although only recently rediscovered, it is very sought after from worldwide collectors both for its rarity and musical quality. Great male female vocals in an early 70s UK psychedelic acid folk rock sound similar to Tudor Lodge, Jade etc. It contains 2 previously unreleased bonus tracks, not included in the original album. Highly recommended! Limited edition, deluxe 180g vinyl, from the original analogue master tapes, exact reproduction of the original first pressing. LP $26 SKU:16715

SCAMPOLO- UNDER THE RAINBOW (1968 Hungarian rock/and roll rarity ) GATEFOLD SAALE! Label:MOIRAS Limited edition of 330 copies, housed in a nice gatefold sleeve! It's a twist of fate that it took the first rock'n'roll band that reached star status in Hungary 48 years to release their first album. At the beginning of the 1960s the band was the most popular among the few Hungarian rock'n'roll groups, their shows' atmosphere was often quite heated. The band existed until the early '80s except for some short pauses and with a few changes in the lineup. The first Scampolo album represents the period between 1968 and 1970 when they left their rock'n'roll roots behind and played a repertoire that was unique in Hungary. It consisted partly of British and American progressive rock and soul hits, partly of their own compositions. These were collected from studio, rehearsal and concert recordings. LP $19 SKU:24235

SELDA ST- (1976 Western psych grooves: fuzz-wah guitars) GATEFOLD SAALE!Label:PHARAWAY SOUNDS First album by Selda Bagcan, originally released in 1976. LP $22 SKU:24477

SEOMPI- Summer’s Comin' on Heavy ( the Black Sabbath of Texas, psych rock ) -Label:ROCKADELIC (USA) copies of this very long out-of-print record, released on the Rockadelic label in 1998. Touted as the Black Sabbath of Texas, it's hard and heavy raw psych rock featuring a skull splitting cover version of Hendrix's ‘Voodoo Chile.’ This deluxe vinyl pressing (which was limited to 600 copies, way back when) comes housed in a super-deluxe silk-screened faux leather outer slip case jacket over top the standard thick Rockadelic style album cover. “SEOMPI—an acronym for "Self Expression On Musically Potential Instruments"—came together as a unit in 1970 in McAllen, Texas, formed by former Headstones and the Meat frontman and bassist Dave Williams, who had just finished a one year stint in Texas state prison on a marijauna possession charge. He rounded up bassist Patrick Rockhill and drummer Bill Reid for a peculiar dual-bass, no-guitar sound. SEOMPI cut and released their first 45, ‘Summer's Comin' On Heavy,’ with that dual-bass attack intact. Later they recut the song with the addition of guitarist Mitch Watkins, who became a part of the band from then on, moving it toward a more accessible, driving rock sound. In 1971, SEOMPI moved to Austin, which remained their home base throughout the rest of the band's existence. They developed a sizeable local following and were one of the very loudest bands around thanks to an awesome sound system put together by local soundman David Gardner, who would often record the band's rehearsals. The band dedicated themselves during the next few years to playing live gigs including opening spots for ZZ Top, Buddy Miles, and Foghat, a period that saw a few lineup changes with Billy "Skid" Rowe replacing Watkins and Lee Manley joining on drums. In 1974, SEOMPI called it quits. Reissue label Rockadelic assembled an album in 1997 from the more than six hours of source tapes SEOMPI had recorded.” —All Music Guide LP $39 SKU:7952

SHOTGUN-Dallasian Rock(70s blues rock Prev. unrel vintage studio tracks)SAALE! - Label:SHROOMANGEL (USA) A blend of hard hitting riff rock á la early Led Zeppelin and James Gang, with a guitar attack reminiscent of bands like Leafhound or Edgar Broughton Band. Tight, muscular, lean and mean urban blues rock riffage and soaring, soulful vocals, punchy bass and solid drumming make for a memorable set of songs that you won't soon forget. Shotgun had a successful career in and around Dallas, TX between 1974 and 1977, playing the club circuit and recording at the cities best studios. Sadly, nothing ever came of the recording sessions and Shotgun eventually morphed into VIZION, which released an album in 1980 that featured the vocals of Jan Houston. Finally after more than 38 years, Shotgun's long lost studio sessions are presented for the first time ever on LP as they were meant to be heard. The CD versions includes eleven additional bonus tracks. The most amazing thing about these tracks is how they remained on the shelf all these years! •Tight, muscular, lean and mean urban blues rock riffage. •Previously unreleased vintage studio tracks from the 1970's LP $22 SKU:19500

It follows their craze of retro power pop like their two previous releases, yet it also continues to explore the depths of late '70s oriented pop music and approaches musicality and instrumentality differently from the band's previous efforts. This album marks a musical departure from previous efforts, infusing '80s synth pop like The Style Council, The Cure, post-punk like Bauhaus and '90s indie pop as the Muffs and Weezer. SPARKLES -THE COMPLETE RECORDINGS Texas 60s garage (+7"/CD)-Label:JUKEBOX MUSIC FACTORY The Sparkles were associated with the garage-band and psychedelic rock scene of 1960s Texas, as epitomized by their classic underground hit 'No Friend Of Mine'. The line-up changed few times before 1962, and Stanley Smith finally recruit Harold "Lucky" Floyd (drums and vocals), Donnie Roberts (guitar) and Bobby Smith (bass). Their first recording was the single 'U.T.' under the small label Caron. This third incarnation proved a great hit among the clubs of West Texas, notably the Music Box and The Village Swinger. Indeed, in 2000, local legend Joe Ely described them as the "city's best rock'n'roll band" in the history of the Lubbock music scene published by Texas Monthly. Interestingly, The Sparkles boasted a pair of drummers, with one, the flamboyant Harold Floyd, also lending his voice to their performances. 1966 would constitute a turning point for The Sparkles. Larry Parks -drummer for Roy Orbison, turned producer in Nashville, Tennessee- invited them to sign with Hickory Records, the historic music label founded by Roy Acuff and Fred Rose in 1954. The band came up with 'The Hip', which proved an immediate hit in Austin and extremely popular within the fraternity scene at the University of Texas. On a roll, The Sparkles then recorded 'Something You Said' followed by 'Jack And The Beanstalk'. In 1967, The Sparkles, already a decade old, recorded their chef-d'oeuvre 'No Friend Of Mine', with Nunn's raging guitar riffs and Floyd's remarkably tense vocals. This fiery tour de force would be consecrated by its inclusion on the first CD set of the legendary compilation 'Nuggets: Original Artyfacts From The First Psychedelic Era, 1965-1968'. Following their final single, 'Hipsville 29 B.C.', for Hickory Records, The Sparkles once again entered rocky waters, with Nunn and Holt finally deciding to throw in the towel in 1968. Floyd, Smith and Marriot immediately set sail for California, along the way renaming their group The Pearly Gate. This brief interlude would include a handful of appearances on the ABC sitcom 'Judd, For The Defense'. Legend has it, they were also scheduled to perform before Bobby Kennedy the evening of his tragic assassination on June 5th 1968... Returning to Texas, Floyd, Smith and Marriot resurrected The Sparkles, bringing into the fold Steve Weisberg, future guitarist for John Denver. But Floyd's departure in 1975 for California to join Red Wilder Blue spelled the end of this group's 15-year musical odyssey, a tumultuous journey typical of such modest rock'n'roll heroes posthumously crowned by multiple thematic compilations. However, the one you're now holding constitutes the very first anthology dedicated to these incredible Texans LP $30 SKU:21875
