SUPREME JUBILEES--It'll All Be Over (California gospel-soul)Label:LITA If God had a disco, the DJ would be playing California gospel-soul group The Supreme Jubilees. “We won’t have to cry no more,” the tuxedo-clad group would sing, in high, angelic vocals over smooth grooves. “It’ll all be over.” Prepare to dance and contemplate death all at the same time. A band of brothers and cousins, the group was founded from two families: brothers Joe and Dave Kingsby plus Dave’s son David Kingsby Jr., and keyboardist Leonard Sanders plus his brothers Phillips (drummer), Tim (bassist), and Melvin (tenor). The Sanders clan grew up singing together in the Witness of Jesus Christ church in Fresno CA, where dad Marion was pastor. Guitarist Larry Price–who belonged to neither family–completed the line-up that recorded the group’s first–and, prophetically, only–album, It’ll All Be Over. Released in 1980 on the group’s own S&K (Sanders & Kingsby) label, It’ll All Be Over pinpoints a fatalistic mood exemplified by the title. Its lyrics drawn from the Old Testament, its sound from the church by way of the disco, and it’s a feel captured by the album cover–a low, orange sun setting over the Pacific ocean. It is, as Jessica Hundley observes in the brand new liner notes, “both apocalyptic and seductive.” CD $10 SKU:24737

SWAMP DOGG - 4 CD BUNDLE (70s Psychedelic soul genius!)Label:ALIVE Rat On, Gag A Maggot, Total Destruction . White Man made me do it digipacks. - Swamp Dogg is a national treasure.” - Swamp DoggIn 1970 the Southern soul music maverick Jerry Williams, Jr. made the most radical move of his career. Frustrated with music business politics Williams reinvented himself as Swamp Dogg, an irreverent anti-hero smashing the conventions of commercial R&B music. Swamp Dogg’s debut release Total Destruction to Your Mind featured a post-apocalyptic take on the Muscle Shoals’ sound, with lyrics inspired by the revolutionary politics and psychedelic drugs of the late ‘60s. The music on Total Destruction to Your Mind stood worlds apart from the formulaic pop tunes Williams started cutting in 1954 under the name Little Jerry, and Swamp Dogg hasn’t looked back since. But the music business wasn’t ready for Swamp Dogg, nor was the rest of America. His bizarre album titles and wild cover art turned the average consumer off, while his subversive lyrics earned him a spot on Richard Nixon’s infamous enemies list. Swamp Dogg was not deterred. He seemed to relish operating from the margins of the music business, consequently becoming one of the quintessential outsider figures in American music. CD $40 SKU:15203

13. Tayles Who Are These Guys? (1972) Recorded live at the Nitty Gritty, this collection of blues-rock captures the musical feel of Vietnam-era Madison. Paul Reyzold's organ added pyschedelia that was as bright as a tie-dyed shirt; Scott Eakin's flute was as groovy as a VW bus. Jeremy Wilson started the band in 1966. Like hippie culture, Tayles faded away near the end of 1972. CD $10 SKU:19456

TELESCOPES -Untitled Second - first US release w/3 bonus tracks ( psych rock shoegaze) - Label:BOMP THE TELESCOPES don’t get the ink of their 80s/90s psych rock contemporaries like SPACEMEN 3, LOOP or the shoegazers, likely due to their releases being mostly confined to their native U.K. But the band, led then and now by STEPHEN LAWRIE, is just as notable as their scene mates. Originally released on Creation in 1992 (1994 in the States as part of the ill-fated Creation/Tristar deal), this awkwardly titled sophomore album is a fine examples of postpunk psychedelic rock/pop. Dreamy vocals and pretty melodies flow through a gauze of acoustic and electric guitars; the angry stomp of their Stooges period is left behind in favor of lighter rhythms that stop well short of Madchester happy feet. CD $10 SKU:16739

TELESCOPES - As Approved by The Committee - Label:EVIL As Approved by The Committee . An unbeatable combination of all their best stuff, out of print and never before released in the US. "Like mad cultural terrorists, they've taken the norm and fed it through a psychedelic blender. THEE HEADCOATEES - Girlsville ( garage ) -Label:GET HIP These girls are totally in the garage! The CD digipack version also includes her second single for Canyon records, as well as newly penned liner notes. "A lost classic that captures deep soul at its most poignant and resonant." -- AMG"Initially released in 1973 on the homegrown Fungus Records label, it has remained well under the radar for the past 40 years. It is one of the finest examples of early '70s soul I have ever heard." -- Blinded By Sound CD $10 SKU:16227

THREE HEADED DOG-Hound of Hades (UK 70s underground)-Label:AUDIO ARCHIVES THREE HEADED DOG-Hound of Hades A mysterious three-piece from Birmingham, Three-Headed Dog played underground hard-rock, clearly influenced by other contemporaries from the Birmingham rock scene such as Judas Priest and Black Sabbath and Wishbone Ash. Three-Headed Dog were among the more obscure acts playing a circuit which included bands like Iron Claw, Necromandus and Flying Hat Band. Before disappearing in the mist of time, they left behind an ultra rare demo tape - recorded in 1973 - which included a couple of cover versions from Wild Turkey and Edgar Broughton Band along with self-penned material. This CD also features a few bonus tracks from other rare bands of the era discovered in the studio's archives. CD $12 SKU:24869

THTX -THE FLICKERING SKY(heavy psych weirdness) SAALE!Label:SULATRON THTX return with a heavier and even more hypnotic album then their previous albums. It's a vast tapestry of psychedelic weirdness, abundant with flangers, bongos, echo units, and extreme WAH WAH action. It won't be too difficult to discren THTX's musical influences on this one. There are traces of CAN, TERRY RILEY, FDEEP PURPLE, SOFT MACHINE, BLUE CHEER, SUN RA, AMON DUUL, etc.. THTX genrally stick to instrumentals, but this time there is a VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR cover with vocals. CD $8 SKU:20384

THUNDERS, JOHNNY- Endless Party LIVE -Label:TRIPLE X ENDLESS PARTY is a live set that captures a typically sloppy but occasionally inspired solo show by Thunders. As usual, the set starts with a thunderous version of the classic surf instrumental "Pipeline," careens through a collection of solo, Dolls, and Heartbreakers classics, and ends with Thunders' signature ode to heroin ("Chinese Rocks") and the rave-up "Pills." CD $5 SKU:16219

TIDAL WAVE-Spider Spider-Best Of The Tidal Wave (S African psych pop 1969) Label:FRESH The Tidal Wave were one of South Africa's foremost exponents of psych influenced pop music in the late 60's and early 70's with hits like ‘Spider Spider’ (1969) and ‘Mango Mango’ (1970) and ‘With Tears in My Eyes.’ Although they existed for a relatively short time, the band is regarded by many as the bridge between pop and the then developing 'underground' South African rock scene. This compilation gathers together for the first time all the hit singles, B-sides and rarities. Yes, they did play pop and had a few hits, which were featured on the top radio stations at the time, Springbok Radio and LM Radio. However Tidal Wave also played very interesting psychedelic pop rock enhanced by the fuzz guitar sounds of Mike Pilot. There is a wide variety of music styles covered on this Tidal Wave retrospective. Lovers of end-of-the-sixties psychedelic pop and rock will discover many hidden gems, including the progressive rock sounds of ‘Get It Out Of Your System’ which would not have been out of place on an Abstract Truth album. This disc also includes the funky soul sounds of ‘Town Girl’, featuring Peter Vee’s lead vocal, which was previously unreleased. Tidal Wave is fondly remembered by many and now all their music—the hits, misses and rarities can be found in one place. CD $14 SKU:20408

TIMOTHY LEARY & SIMON STOKES- Right to Fly (1996) Label:PsychoRelic The man who urged a generation to "Tune in, Turn On, and Drop Out" is taking his ironically upbeat message to the masses with his CD, Right to Fly. Prior to his passing on May 31, 1996, Dr. Timothy Leary recorded this collection of rock 'n roll songs with Simon Stokes (Black Whip Thrill Band). Stokes also co-produced the album with partner Bayard Johnson (Mother Nature's Army) and Randall Keith. During his life, Timothy Leary was a professor, an actor, a lecturer, a fugitive, a candidate, a comedian, a software developer and a recording artist. Famous for his research with psychedelic drugs in the 60's, Dr. Leary has since become a cultural icon. CD $10 SKU:24335

TINTERN ABBEY- BEESIDE: THE COMPLETE RECORDINGS (2CD) unreleased Brit psychLabel:GRAPEFRUIT The greatest, most important cache of unreleased vintage British psychedelia to have surfaced for decades, 'Beeside: The Complete Recordings' gathers together everything ever recorded by the iconic Tintern Abbey. A legendary name from the British psychedelic scene, Tintern Abbey's enduring reputation rests on one of the definitive forty-fives to emerge from the genre, the November 1967 coupling of 'Beeside' backed with 'Vacuum Cleaner' which originally appeared on Deram. Since its release, just a small handful of skeletal demo recordings have trickled out, all of which were essentially minor addenda to the band's little-documented but legendary career. Now, Grapefruit has finally unearthed the full, definitive story. After two decades of planning, research, tape transfer and sound restoration, 'Beeside: The Complete Recordings' features over two hours of music recorded by Tintern Abbey between the summer of 1967 (when they spent a month in a Cornwall cottage, rehearsing and taping their performances prior to their London launch) and the end of 1968. Featuring more than 90 minutes of previously unreleased and unheard material, indeed, everything on the 68-minute disc two is now receiving its first-ever public airing. Alongside that genre-defining Deram single and those previously-leaked demos are some astonishing treasures. Included are two finished masters of the intended late 1967 follow-up 45 'Snowman' (a disorientating melange of sinister Mellotron, disembodied voices and backward tapes that was abandoned when original guitarist Don Smith left the group); the Arabic-sounding 'My Prayer' and the 'SF Sorrow'- anticipating 'Let The Wind Blow', along with late 1968 creations like 'Raspberry Ripple', 'Life Goes By' and 'My House' suggesting that, even at the point of their collapse, Tintern Abbey remained a vital, vibrant unit. Featuring a 6000 word essay with band quotes and previously unpublished photos and memorabilia, this lovingly-assembled 2CD set is the final word on a group that turned out to be as mysterious and elusive as the Wordsworth poem that inspired their name. CD $24 SKU:24829

TOMS - 1979 Sessions (POWERPOP)Label:FUTUREMAN "For many years, Tommy Marolda has been a versatile member of the American music industry: a multi-instrumentalist, producer, engineer, composer, Grammy-nominated songwriter...the list goes on. But record nerds like me know Tommy because of a single weekend in 1979. He was scheduled to record demos with the Smithereens in his New Jersey home studio, but their last-minute cancelation gave Tommy a small window to record something of his own. After three days of hitting the record button and dashing back to his instruments, Tommy had more than 30 slabs of pop perfection on tape, 12 of which became his seminal power pop LP 'The Toms'. Other tracks from that weekend session have trickled out via reissues of 'The Toms' over the years, but little did anyone know Tommy recorded enough material to fill up three long players! Presented here are the last of the 1979 Toms sessions. Savor them like the rare commodities that they are."
-Scott Carlson, Tomologist CD $12 SKU:24549

TONGUE - Keep on Truckin (forgotten classic of late '60s American psych)Label:GEAR FAB Tongue were a blues-based, organ-fueled, country and rural folk-influenced hard rock band that emerged from the copious student population of countercultural Wisconsin. Though Tongue remains a criminally underrated outfit, and never made it big on a national level, their touring reached legendary status, particularly in the mid-west. They were on the road for 10 years and played 250 gigs a year without flying to a single one of them. CD $10 SKU:19455

TORMENTORS, THE- Hanging 'Round ( 1967 undiscovered psych pop) -Label:GEAR FAB A truly experimental psych/rock/pop album from 1967. Featuring some very good garage, psych, and British Invasion sounds. Fuzzed out guitar, great vocal harmonies, and some really bizarre background sounds. CD $10 SKU:10787

TOWNES VAN ZANDT -Flyin' Shoes Mini-LP sleeve- Label:CHARLY Another stalwart collection from Townes Van Zandt. The melodies here are strong, the lyrics full of Van Zandt's razor sharp insight, and the production is sparse and to the point, bringing to mind the inconspicuous polish of High, Low and in Between. The feel here is a balance between folk and country, with Van Zandt's voice and guitar up front, letting the songs speak for themselves. The tunes are full of heartbreak and hopelessness, making it a great album to put on during, or right after, the breakup of an affair. ‘No Place to Fall’ sports one of Van Zandt's strongest melodies with a melancholy chorus that immediately imbeds itself in your mind. Pedal steel, a brief mandolin solo, and almost inaudible percussion add to the despairing feel of the track. ‘When She Don't Need Me’ is another hopeless love song, this time with a Tex-Mex feel and a measured tempo that wrings every bit of drama out of the lyric. The title track has to be one of Van Zandt's saddest songs; images of winter, desolate hillsides, and loneliness complement an achingly beautiful melody. On the slightly brighter side, there's an Everly Brothers influenced country-rock take of Bo Diddley's ‘Who Do You Love.’ ‘Brother Flower,’ a striking meditation on mortality and the impermanence of love, has a melody that recalls Gordon Lightfoot's ‘Don Quixote’ while ‘Dollar Bill Blues’ is a sea shanty celebrating gambling, booze, self-destruction, and the desperate late-night search for love, or maybe just sex.” —AllMusic CD $14 SKU:24862

TRAINWRECK RIDERS - Lonely Road Revival (Band/ Buffalo Springfield style shimmering space-cowboy psych)Label:ALIVE Fans of The Band Or Buffalo Springfield should check this album out. – Terrascope. “There's a spirit of music made for sheer joy in Lonely Road Revival that could've come straight out of The Bristol Sessions.” – Rhino. CD $10 SKU:22857

TURNAROUND --LET'S DO IT (1982 Aussie power pop)Label:ZERO HOUR Turnaround were a cool Australian power pop band circa 1982 that released only 4 singles in their short time together. Formed from the ashes of Beathoven/The Innocents when drummer Brent Jeffrey met up with friend Tony Voglino who both shared a passion for all things jangly and pop. Zero Hour has uncovered a batch of rare unreleased demos, a live track and put their single releases together onto this fine compilation. 16 tracks of cool power pop. CD $15 SKU:24553

TURNQUIST REMEDY -IOWA BY THE SEA(Los Angeles 1970 CSN&Y style)-Label:GEAR FAB The 1970 release produced by Al Schmitt of Jefferson Airplane fame ( After Bathing At Baxters, Crown Of Creation, Bless Its Pointed Little Head, and Volunteers). Featuring fluid guitar and vocal harmonies much in the vein of CSN&Y. CD $10 SKU:21734

TURTLES-Turtle Soup DBL CD- Label:EDSEL The Turtles enjoyed eighteen US hit singles between 1965 and 1970, three of which (‘Happy Together,’ ‘She’d Rather Be With Me,’and ‘Elenore’) were also huge hits in the UK. The Turtles traversed several different musical paths during their career. It is precisely this power through diversity that makes the Turtles’ body of work one of the most rewarding and enjoyable of the 1960’s. October 1969’s “Turtle Soup” was the group’s most consistent album, as well as their only to feature all original material from the pens of the band members. Produced by Ray Davies of The Kinks in Hollywood, it remains the only complete rock album that Davies helmed outside of his legendary band. Inspired by The Kinks, The Turtles turned in ditties like ‘Bachelor Mother,’ the fanciful ‘John And Julie,’ as well as the more muscular ‘Come Over.’ “Turtle Soup’’s” real standouts include ‘You Don’t Have To Walk In The Rain’ and ‘Love In The City,’ both issued as hit singles prior to the album’s release. The bonus CD features six songs from the band’s abandoned follow-up album “Shell Shock,” produced by Jerry Yester, as well as demos and outtakes from “Turtle Soup.” This 2xCD digipak edition has been newly re-mastered by Bill Inglot. Booklet notes by Andrew Sandoval. CD $15 SKU:24861

UMBRA - ST(Brown ACid 70s heavy)Label:LION Umbra’s story is that of a band from the early 1970’s who recorded what they wanted to record: heavy, heavy music from the start of the “American Comedown Era” as we’ve seen it described by our friends for their “Brown Acid” series; a band whose music, terrific though it is, has never to this point been released out into the wide world. The tracks are hard-edged and heavy, verging on acid rock at times. Makes sense, as Umbra was a power trio most of their too-brief existence. Yet the songs (heavy though they are) have a deft touch. Spacey intros and weird effects were created by recording guitar licks, then re-recording them played backwards at double speed. There is an utterly refreshing category-free approach to writing songs that makes Umbra’s music exciting to hear. Comes with a 16-page booklet, with lyrics, photos, plus interesting and funny things that can only happen to musicians, and did to Umbra. CD $14 SKU:21740

UNDERGROUND ELECTRICS/THE GENERATION GAP- HEY JUDE/UP UP & AWAY (1960s two great psych/exploito LPs on one CDLabel:GEAR FAB From the great period of the late 1960s, two great psych/exploito LPs on one CD, in mini-LP cardboard sleeve format. The Electric Underground & The Generation Gap attempted to cash in on the Summer Of Love sound, outrageous color designs, and real groovy song titles!! CD $10 SKU:21708

UNFOLDING - How to Blow your Mind Freak Out Party (1967 flower power )-Label:GEAR FAB Recorded during the height of the Flower Power Movement, classic 1967 free form LP that features lots of sitars, chimes, harpsichord and other far out sounds. Even includes notes on how to spice up your parties using TV's, kaleidoscopes, and other "natural things" CD $10 SKU:19457

UNRELATED SEGMENTS-Where You Gonna Go (66-75 Michigan proto hard rock)Label:CICADELIC RECORDS Sixties punk, garage, moody sounds and proto-hard-rock of the highest order! Complete recordings (1966-1975) of this legendary band from Michigan, including their three killer 45s plus unreleased recordings and alternate takes. Master tape sound, insert with photos and liner notes. The Unrelated Segments created some of the most celebrated garage-punk anthems of all time. Tracks like “Cry, Cry, Cry” with its teenage-angst vocals and out of control fuzztone guitar break, “The Story Of My Life” with that bizarre and ultra-punk bass line or the moody-punker “It’s gonna rain” have been included on countless garage comps (Back From The Grave, Acid Dreams, Nuggets, etc) and have been covered by numerous bands who worship them as 60s punk Gods. Sadly, the band never got the chance to record a full album. After three outstanding 45s, they recorded a projected fourth single that never saw the light of day, just when the band had changed its name to U.S and had started playing in a heavier vein, similar to early MC5. Soon after, the band split up and some of their members formed psych-rock band Lost Nation. On this collection, along with their official 45s and alternate takes / rehearsals, you’ll find the unreleased 45 from 1969 plus some demos recorded by an unnamed post-Unrelated Segments / Lost Nation band in 1972. An amazing find which shows the band playing pure Detroit high-energy hard rock! “The Unrelated Segments emerged from the same downriver suburbs that had produced the MC5, and their suburban mutation was almost as unique. Singer Ron Stults had an unforgettable style somewhere between punk snarl and Brit erudition and the songs he wrote with lead guitarist Rory Mack were catchy and substantial” – Ben Edmonds (Creeem, Rolling Stone, Mojo CD $10 SKU:22973

UP - Killer Up! ONE ONLY! (uneleased. 1967-1973 MC5, BLue Cheer style) Label:Total Energy The Up is one of those "should've been" bands. Similar in sound to Blue Cheer and political philosophy to MC5, Killer Up represents the complete recordings of the Detroit band from the '60s. Save for two singles, none of this material was released by the band while it was still together between 1967-1973. The Up was closely aligned with MC5, living with them in the White Panther Party commune in Ann Arbor and often sharing the bill with them at area concerts. But while the Five and fellow Michiganders the Stooges got record deals and fame, Up remained a regional act.The disc features both of Up's singles, plus several songs from a recording session at Head Sound Studios in Ypsilanti, MI, and some live cuts recorded at the Agora Ballroom in Columbus, OH, in 1972.High volume cuts like "Just Like an Aborigine" and "Free John Now" are further examples to back up the argument that punk rock was invented in '60s Detroit. It's hard to imagine Up gaining a mass audience, but the music on this disc makes one wonder why the band never broke on a large scale outside of the Midwest. CD $50 SKU:22397

HE PUT THE BOMP- - PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED psych/garage tracks by RADIO MOSCOW,/BLACK KEYS /NIKKI CORVETTE/BARRACUDAS -Label:BOMP his is not a tribute album per se, but more of a remembrance of Greg Shaw and his unique perspective. We asked the bands to go into the studio and cut the cover song they felt was most in tune with the idea of the label and the result is a nice brew of garage punk, power pop and psychedelia that we think captures the spirit and sound of Bomp records.

The Plimsouls and Lyres covered the Easybeats and the Outsiders respectively, the Black Keys surprised us with their rendering of the Cramps "I Can't Find My Mind", while the Dwarves and the Briefs sent their versions of punk classics by the Weirdos and the Zeros.

We also got some nice surprises with the teaming up of Captain Sensible (The Damned) and the late Nikki Sudden for an acoustic cover of Iggy's "Kill City", Chris Wilson of the Flamin' Groovies joined the Barracudas to capture Rocky Erickson's "Two Headed Dog," and a Cleveland super group of sorts tabbed The Dukes Of Earls was formed with ex-members of the Dead Boys and the Stiv Bators' band.

Also included is an amazing rendition of Rockin' Horse's classic "Don't You Ever Think I Cry" by Buffalo Killers (currently on tour with the Black Crowes), a cover of Spacemen 3 by The Warlocks, and much more. The Last even dug up for the occasion their previously unreleased rendering of Jonathan Richman's "Pablo Picasso" recorded back in 1977. There's a lot of cool music on this comp which we hope fans and collectors will enjoy. COMP CD $10 SKU:19890

Open Up Your Mind Up Your Mind - The Psych Pop World of Rembrandt Records 1966-1967- Label:CICADELIC RECORDS Open Up Your Mind covers the first two incredible years of Rembrandt Records, a Chicago based label. The first release in March 1966 was a bluesy garage-band novelty record titled "Boots Are Made For Talkin ". It was a parody of Nancy Sinatras, smash hit at the time, "These Boots Are Made For Walking". When the single failed to chart Rembrandt Records owner Reggie Weiss moved in a different direction, merging pop with psychedelic music, for the next single, "Open Up Your Mind". He wrote the song based on a LSD trip and response to the single was positive. Soon other psych-pop singles were issued featuring The Circus, The Nickel Bag, and Mondays Children. Cash Box magazine began plugging Rembrandt Records during the fall of 1966. However, Weiss was unable to secure solid distribution and could not compete with the larger Chicago based record labels such as Dunwich, USA, and Destination. By 1967, Weiss devoted all of his time promoting a high-school band called The Lemon Drops. He wrote another LSD inspired song titled "I Live In The Springtime" for the band. Unfortunately, the single was unable to chart, even regionally. Over the ensuing decades though, the reputation of The Lemon Drops, The Nuchez, The Nite-Owls and other Rembrandt artists has grown immeasurably. This compilation contains all the singles issued on Rembrandt Records from 1966-1967, plus many previously unreleased versions and mixes that are appearing for the first time ever. The twenty-two recordings on this album make it apparent that Rembrandt Records was way ahead of its time when these treasures from the psychedelic 60s were recorded. COMP CD $12 SKU:12121

OUR BRILLIANT CAREERS -Cherry Red Rarities 1981-83-Label:CHERRY RED Cherry Red carved out an odd niche for itself apart from the general post-punk flow, thanks largely to eccentric A&R man Mike Always, whose tastes leaned towards melody, Englishness, and the 1960’s. Cherry red became a home for the dashing, debonair whimsy of he Monochrome Set, the mopy bedsit introspection of Eyeless in Gaza, jazzy-folky singer-songwriters Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt (separately and together as Everything But the Girl), and the Television/Velvets descended, plangent splendor of Felt. Although “Pillows and Prayers” is the best-known sampler of the label, its precursor “Perspectives and Distortions” (1981) includes many non-Cherry Red artists, which makes it very interesting; and “Our Brilliant Careers” (2003) scoops up archival arcane. It includes rare tracks by successful Cherry Red artists like Everything But The Girl (plus solo material from both Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt), The Nightingales and The Monochrome Set, plus many more. Most people probably know Five Or Six from their off-key but charming opener 'Portrait' from “Pillows and Prayers”; here we have six like low-key and absorbing tracks from them, most of which have never been on CD: 'Think' and 'Theme' are instrumentals that will surprise a few. There are also three early songs by Ben Watt described modestly by himself as 'dreary and tuneless'. Beautiful instrumental version of 'The Thousand Guitars of St. Dominiques' by the Fantastic Something ends up as the most surprising track—a high point of the collection.” Impressive and intriguing archive collection of rare recordings. Put the two together and you have an intoxicating mix that is so lush and so perfect, and a sound that has helped soundtrack recent hit TV series such as 'The Queens Gambit', 'Killing Eve', and 'The Serpent'. 'Pop Psychedelique' (released on Two-Piers) brings together the early pioneers and superstars of the French Pop sound - Serge Gainsbourg, Brigitte Bardot, with the darlings of the '60S scene - France Gall, Gillian Hills, Jacqueline Taieb. Add in the more recent French Psych sounds of L'Epee and The Liminanas (both tracks used in 'Killing Eve'), the haunting sound of Fabienne DelSol, the '60s Parisien cool of Anna Karina, the freak beat psychedelic rock of Les 5 Gentlemen, the dance floor joy of Charlotte Leslie's Franco cover of The Capitols' soul classic, the eccentric earworm of 'Les Cornichons' by Nino Ferrer, and the sheer Moog pop brilliance of 'E.V.A' by Jean Jacques-Perrey. Finish off with Stereolab's take on French pop on 'Cybele's Reverie', Air, one of the most influential electronic bands of the 2000s, go synth psych-pop on 'Don't Be Light' and Pierre Henry's epic big-beat anthem 'Psyché Rock' rounds things off perfectly! Permanent Clear Light is often referred to as Finland's top psychedelic group. They released their debut album, 'Beyond These Things', in 2014 to a high critical acclaim. After that, the group has released several singles, EPs and appeared on a number of compilation albums on the British Fruits de Mer label. Although PCL's musical roots lie in '60s psychedelia their sound is strictly contemporary. The trio considers the recording studio their main instrument, and their sound is characterised by multi-layered instrumental work and strong melodic vocals. After a creative break, PCL is finally ready to release its second album, 'Cosmic Comics', which shows that the band has travelled a long way through the spheres since their debut. PLASTIC CLOUD -ST (70s psych with lyric insert)Label:LION Plastic Cloud recorded, quite simply, one of the greatest psychedelic albums ever made. This is a record with few equals, full of foreboding melodies and lovely hippie harmonies, as well as some of the most superb and trippiest, Eastern sounding fuzz guitar ever recorded. There is no point singling out a specific track, they are all excellent -- one is equally as good as the next. Take for example the album centerpiece, the ten-and-a-half-minute 'You Don't Care,' an insane piece of social commentary that features terrific back-of-the-mix fuzz guitar as an elusive focal point to its extended pounding-drum laden instrumental breaks; with a great chorus and a plaintive melody in the verse, it doesn't overstay its welcome, winding its way to a final freak out. Essential psychedelia!" 180 gram vinyl; Comes with lyric insert and replica vintage press release. LP $24 SKU:24344

POPPEES -Pop Goes The Anthology (Great 70s power pop! ) CLASSIC BLACK VINYL -Label:BOMP The Poppees were one of the creators and the embodiment of what soon came to be known as the "Power Pop" sound of the late 70s. This long overdue anthology finally gives this notable and highly underrated band its due, elegantly chronicling the Poppees short but influential role in the history of the New York New Wave scene of the late 70's. While anchored around their two classic Bomp singles, "If She Cries/Love of The Loved" (the latter track produced by Craig Leon of the Ramones fame), and "Jealousy/She's Got It" (produced by Cyril Jordan of the Flamin' Groovies), "Pop Goes The Anthology" features never before released recordings, including demos, early live recordings, and culminating with a rip-roaring live performance at CBGB. It is complete with liner notes and unpublished photos. "After all, what would be more punk at that time than being in the Poppees - a band that emulated the early Beatles, from their moptops to their Cuban heels?" - WFMUFormed in In the mid-'70s in New York by Bob Waxman, Arthur Alexander, Paddy Lorenzo, and Donny Jackrel, later replaced by Jet Harris. PRIMA DONNA- Nine Lives and Forty Fives - YELLOW VINYL - ROCK AND ROLL! Glitter punk Label:ALIVE Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley on a steady diet of punk and glitter rock, Prima Donna are infamous on the LA scene. Their curriculum includes musical road trips with Eddie and the Hot Rods, Adam Ant, Glen Matlock & The Philistines, The Dictators, and even Green Day, who they supported on two arena tours on two continents. Frontman Kevin Preston has also continued participation in Green Day side-project Foxboro Hot Tubs.

While touring the US and Europe, Prima Donna was in and out of the studio numerous times, both at home in L.A. and in Milan, Italy. The finished product is “Nine Lives and Forty Fives”, a 11-song variety pack that displays the band’s skills in the studio, and compiles some of their rarest and rawest recordings, including “Rock and Roll is Dead,” available for the first time in US. The song was named one of the Top Ten Songs of 2013 by Little Steven’s Underground Garage. LP $15 SKU:16433

PRINTS OF DARKNESS - Zindabad (60s Pakistan, reviewed by Mike Stax - Label:RAVI RECORDS Raw, exciting and really quite excellent... fans of fuzz will find a feast of it on this set. The Prints turn in enjoyable readings of ‘Summertime,’ ‘Morning Dew,’ and Country Joe & the Fish’s ‘Rock and Soul Music,’ but it’s their original numbers that really stand out… The band’s bottled-up creative energy comes bursting to a head on the culminating number, ‘Oh Color the Shadowy Distance,’ which starts out as an über-dramatic Doors-in-the-garage exercise atop a ‘Tobacco Road’-type stomp riff, before levitating into a psychedelic instrumental section that sounds a bit like Jorma Kaukonen jamming with the Velvet Underground. Thrilling stuff.” —Mike Stax (Ugly Things)

This is the story of a sixties garage band… only this one was based in Lahore, West Pakistan, where there was a small American community and a funky school in an old British Raj-era bungalow. September 1967: Skip Boyce had a drum kit assembled from various shops in Penang during a family vacation and Danny Carr had a Framus bass and a huge amp. Let’s start a band! New kid Steve Davy provided the missing link. Add his psychedelic Hofner guitar and small amp and the Great Flower Famine was born. “Let’s just play songs with three chords (‘Gloria,’ ‘Louie Louie’ and ‘For Your Love’ were the first three); more followed: Stones, Animals, Kinks, Doors. Old friend Travis “Smokey” Henderson was in the States, but returned to Lahore and joined as lead guitarist. John Sligh was added as lead singer because he liked the same tunes the others did and looked cool. By the end of the school year, the Famine was a tight unit—the best rock band in West Pakistan. September 1968: a year’s worth of new music, and new influences—Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, the San Francisco groups. Meanwhile, Steve bought a Hofner violin bass like Paul McCartney, Skip returned from the States with a full set of Ludwig drums like Ringo, and a new redheaded kid arrived by the name of Richard Woodbury. His addition and a new name for the band (Prints of Darkness) gave the group a new style. Their repertoire expanded. September 1969: One addition to the personnel—Roberta “Bourbon” Kilgore as vocalist. The Prints started writing their own tunes in earnest. On May 22, 1970, they played their last show and for the first time in three years, the instruments went in different directions afterwards. And so did the Prints. In the band’s final year, several of their shows were recorded using a single open mic and a standard quarter-inch reel-to-reel tape recorder. The best tracks have been cleaned up and compiled for this release on Ravi Records, a label set up by music mail order company Metro Music. The release is a true labor of love, with no corners cut, and no expense spared on the sound restoration, mastering and packaging. The heavy-vinyl LP (180 gram) is housed in a super-deluxe gatefold sleeve modeled on the Stones’ “High Tide and Green Grass,” complete with a lavishly illustrated and annotated booklet. LP $18 SKU:14746

RAIN- 1971 The Lost Album -Label:JARGON The Lost Album, a collection of original songs that the band recorded in the summer of 1971, was originally planned to be a follow up to their first record, RAIN-Live Christmas Night, which came out on the band's label, Whazoo Records, in early 1971. LP $24 SKU:22780

RATIONALS--10” Temptation Bout to get Me (Detroit 60s MC5 STOOGES style ) Label:TOTAL ENERGY LAST COPIES When serious collectors compose lists of the top shoulda-been-bigger bands of the '60s, the Rationals are often among them. Coming out of the same Ann Arbor, MI scene that gave birth to the MC5 and the Stooges, the group's forte was a sort of garageish take on blue-eyed soul, built around the fine RB-hued vocals of frontman Scott Morgan. Their mid-'60s singles, however, didn't break in many areas outside of Michigan (where they had some big local hits), and by the time they got to record an album, they had long passed their peak.the Rationals actually predated the MC5/Stooges by quite some time, both chronologically and stylistically. When they began recording for the local A2 label in 1965, they were, like many garage bands, heavily influenced by the British Invasion, although they gave their material a more soulful flavor than most similar units. "Gave My Love" was a chart-topper in Ann Arbor (and a hit in Detroit), as was a follow-up single of "Respect" (which predated Aretha Franklin's version). Picked up for national distribution by Cameo/Parkway, it nudged into the lowest regions of the national charts as well.” LP $15 SKU:22014

RAUNCH - Total Raunch (savage '60s heavy fuzz )-Label:BREAK A WAY Mid-'60s garage-punk from Ossining, NY. In the short time of the band's existence, The Raunch released one scorching 7-inch, contributed a cool Paul Revere cover to the collectable local 'Battle Of The Bands' compilation and recorded notable covers of 'Hey Joe' and John D. Loudermilk's 'Tobacco Road'. This one-sided LP collects all those five tracks and adds a 4-page info sheet, including rare pix. The two songs from the single, originally issued by Bazaar Records, are the crude garage track 'A Little While Back' b/w the more moody 'I Say You're Wrong'. Though we only get five tracks, there's enough energy, sharpness and garage-punk excitmenet to fill a complete album. LP $15 SKU:16485

RAVEN -Who Do You See(1972 hard rock prog)-Label:GOLDEN PAVILION George Phelps who had joined The Carnations met up with Goliath members in a studio and through a myriad of circumstances, teaming up with drummer Robert Wolff (ex "Micah") these musicians merged into Raven in Louisville KY in late 1972 (even though they were all fro Terra Haute, Indiana). From this moment on, the band toured extensively through 24 states non-stop for the next four years before recording this material in 1976, which remained unreleased until today. Soon after the recording was completed, Raven got a record deal with Capricorn records. Two weeks later, Capricorn went bankrupt. The tapes were subsequently destroyed in a fire. Raven was literally like fish out of water, and slowly but steadily what had felt like the beginning of something unique, was lost. Musically the album relies on a hard driving progressive sound with a very rhythmic approach, filled with virtuoso guitar & keyboard solos as well as pulsating bass lines in a hard-rock backing. Think Primus meets Emerson, Lake & Palmer with a touch of Yes, Deep Purple, Rush and Dream Theater. Features Robert Wolff, previously with Micah and currently with Corvus Stone. Limited to 500 copies LP $17 SKU:21072

REAL EYES-ST + A4 size, leatherette, soft cover 90-page book with drawings and lyricsLabel:WIZARD Rare local US private pressing from 1981. Described thus by one writer: "Dreamy all over, with progressive folk elements; flat out psychedelic rock in some tracks. Interesting and thoughtful songwriting. A great discovery!!!”; described elsewhere as "sounds running the gamut from soft folk, to psych heavy metal,” and also as "tasty and creative stuff throughout,” by a third scribe…. and this way in Acid Archives:"One of the best 1980s discoveries, this is pretty wild stuff, has a crude garage edge, especially when it gets heavy. The songwriting is pretty interesting and thoughtful, and as private press LPs go, this is distinctive and memorable enough to explain why psych dealers jumped on its bandwagon. A lot of the lyrics are pretty stoned. There is a lot going on here, with enough weird hooks and surprising moments to give any listener a fair amount of kicks. I like side two, especially the closing 'Visions of Obscurity V,' better than side one. In the long run, whether this will be a keeper for any individual listener will probably be determined by the insane 12-minute 'Madman’s Game,' an elaborate epic that encapsulates everything distinctive about this record.” —Acid Archives LP $40 SKU:24383

REDUCERS-Let’s Go (70s w catchy melodies and killer licks) Label:RAVE ON 29 TRACK MUST-HAVE COMP! REDUX compiles the best of The Reducers first 3 LPs in one astounding package. Formed in late 1978, Connecticut's Reducers wowed thousands of fans with blazing tempos, catchy melodies and killer licks. "The Reducers deftly execute that timeless musical somersault: they release rage and frustration via barbed guitar lines, growling vocals and pointed wit." - Boston Globe LP $10 SKU:24405

REDUCERS-Cruise to Nowhere (70s w catchy melodies and killer licks) Label:RAVE ON 1985 followup to Let’s Go. Inner sleeve features unique art and full lyrics100% analog mastering and pressing. "There were absolutely no gimmicks, false pretenses towards stardom, or slick attitude; they were the real deal." - AllMusic, Cruise To Nowhere was the result of two weeks in the studio with a handful of songs, some finished, most unfinished and some unwritten. The resulting LP was surprisingly consistent given the haphazard nature of the recording, and college radio once again picked up on the album's standout track "Fistfight at the Beach." Another regional tour followed, and the wear and tear of the road soon shown its strain on the boys from New London. It would be another 3 years until The Reducer's next release. LP $10 SKU:24472

REDUCERS-Guitar Bass, Drums (70s w catchy melodies and killer licks) Label:RAVE ON Triumphant final LP featuring the anthemic "Don't Ya Wanna Rock" and "My Problem" with guest vocals from Mark Mulcahy (Miracle Legion, Polaris). These 11 tunes sizzle, with revved-up guitars cruising along over taut bass and spot-on drums drawn from the garage- and pub-rock traditions. The guitar riffs are tight and loud, and the melodies take unerring aim at that part of your brain that feeds them onto an endless loop for your continued (and continual) listening pleasure. Recorded over the course of a tu- multuous year on this small planet, a concept emerged of a story we all know and love-- the rise and fall of humanity, and then the post-apocalyptic rebirth of a new furtherly- dystopian mutated world. PCWSyndicate didn't discriminate with the freaky sonic tools needed to craft this molten behemoth of a LP, utilizing: damaged waves of No Waves, free-festival rave-ups that punters will knock down fences to pogo to, monochord Doom ruminations...and could that be groovy post-post-punkin' Funakdelica? These cosmic cats also go to the roots of all: The Blooz--elemental, drugged, n grungey--and like JAZZ, MAN! (free, not expensive, for thee people). Plastic Crimewave (bellows/guiterror), Kosmik Jru (bass rumble), and Jose "The Beast" Bernal (kit smash), keep the freaks a-rollin and a- tumblin on an LP destined to score the end of this feeble Earthen sphere. PTARMIGAN - ST ( 1972 hypnotic stoner style w inserts and photos) Label:LION 2018 ltd ed of 300 copies Hypnotic, mystical, largely instrumental tracks, all based on a complex interplay of recorder, hand drums and acoustic guitar—one of those hidden gems that make life better when you discover them all these years later. Ptarmigan recorded the basic tracks for what would eventually become their only album in 1972. It then took the band’s producer and manager, renowned flautist Paul Horn, more than a year to find a label willing to release such unusual music. Finally, in 1974, Columbia Records released Ptarmigan’s album to critical acclaim, and minimal sales. The music of Ptarmigan is deep and authentic and intimate; it's reflective sounds are well suited to meditating on a landscape, an emotion, a bottle of wine, or maybe while staring at a flickering candle. Sometimes it is free-flowing and jazz-oriented; at other times it has the mystical feel of a shamanistic ceremony, fueled by Eastern-tinged harmonies. But in the end, this album is about the sea: Ptarmigan was, after all, from Vancouver Island, and the musicians were well-versed in the contradictory moods of the surrounding ocean. Rated by many as the best "folk/progressive" and/or "folk/psych" album ever made. As one contemporary review said, this is "music from musicians, for musicians, late-at-night, last joint music." Our Lion Productions reissue comes with a massive fold-out insert which includes lyrics, liner notes from the band, and a multitude of photos and historical mementos.•Rated by many as the best "folk/progressive" and/or "folk/psych" album ever made•From the master tapes •Limited second press of 300x copies •Huge insert comes with lyrics, liner notes from the band, and more LP $18 SKU:16108
