EDDIE HINTON-VERY EXTREMELY DANGEROUS - RARE JAPANESE RELEASE- JEWEL CASE- Label:MERCURY NOTE: NOT SEALED MINT DISC. Archive copy previously owned by either the owner of ALIVE or BOMP “n his book Sweet Soul Music, Peter Guralnick described Eddie Hinton as "the last of the great white soul singers," and his debut album, 1978's Very Extremely Dangerous, sounds like a glorious throwback to the salad days of the Muscle Shoals, AL, R&B hit factory of the 1960s, where Wilson Pickett and Aretha Franklin cut some of their most memorable songs. Hinton had already earned an estimable reputation as a session guitarist by the time he finally got to step up to the mic as a solo artist, and Very Extremely Dangerous features him backed up by the always-expert Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section, and Hinton's strong and wiry guitar runs fit the group's emphatic support like a glove. (Hinton and his friends also knew how to bring a solid rock drive to these songs without losing their soulful groove in the process.) As a singer, Hinton was never afraid to step on the gas, and if his vocals are sometimes a bit over the top, they're also consumed with a raw and sweaty joy; like Wilson Pickett, Hinton is able to bring a surprising musicality to a shouting style that can express the pleasures of a hard-partying Saturday night ("Shout Bamalama") as well as the tender agony of love ("I Got the Feeling"). It was Eddie Hinton's poor fortune to cut a great blue-eyed soul album just as disco and funk had bumped deep soul off the charts, but Very Extremely Dangerous still stands as a fine example of latter-day soul at its most accomplished. BLUNSTONE,COLIN -I Dont Believe in Miracles (70s ZOMBIES leader)-Label:Talking Elephant Records Colin Blunstone needs little introduction: he was a key member of The Zombies, and participated on various albums with The Alan Parsons Project. An excellent 16-song compilation assembled from Colin Blunstone's first three Epic solo albums. The individual albums, especially “One Year” and “Ennismore,” are worth owning intact, but this is a nice place to start. Blunstone possesses one of the most unique and underrated voices in contemporary music. This collection showcases both his voice and his considerable writing talents. The production and arrangements are excellent throughout and many of the songs have a truly haunting quality. CD $12 SKU:24836

FLAMES - “Ummm! Ummm! Oh Yeah” + “That’s Enough” (DBL CD - Label:FRESH Throughout the '60s The Flames—featuring future Beach Boy Ricky Fataar along with his brothers Steve Fataar, Brother Fataar and Edries Fredericks— were South Africa's biggest selling band. This double disc set highlights the band's many hits from 1964 to 1966 and includes the "Ummm! Ummm! Oh Yeah" and "That's Enough" albums on Disc 1, and 16 non-album A & B sides singles on Disc 2. This release is a companion to the Retro best selling "Soulfire"/"Burning Soul" reissue. The “Ummm” album (1965) has some nice covers includes two Beatles tracks (‘No Reply’ and ‘Eight Days a Week’), a nice version of ‘You Better Move On,’ and ‘Talkin' Bout You,’ and several others. You have to admire a band like The Flames. An exceptionally talented outfit, the fact they were a non-white group (most of the members were of East Indian extraction), trying to make the big time in apartheid-era South Africa makes them even more special. Records by The Flames are highly collectable, not least because two of their members, Ricky Fataar and Blondie Chaplin, joined The Beach Boys from 1971 to 1973, during which time the albums ‘So Tough’, ‘Holland’ and ‘In Concert’ were made and released CD $16 SKU:19983

FREEDOM’S CHILDREN- Galactic Vibes (1971S S AFRICAN HEAVY PSYCH ) W BONUS TRACKS - Label:FRESH Freedom's Children were the most important band South Africa ever produced, famous for their recipe of acid rock mixed with electronic experiments and tribal rhythms; here is the first-ever legitimate reissue of their third and last LP (Parlophone, 1971), which featured a 16-minute live for radio version of 'The Homecoming' (from their equally rare "Astra" LP)—a soaring , intense, wailing masterpiece, as well as the thud power rock of 'That Did It'; the rest of the record is often justifiably compared to Pink Floyd's "Ummagumma", with many "magic box" sounds finding their way into the mix ('Fields and Me' and 'The Crazy World of Pod' in partiular have strong Floyd elements at work); liner notes and photos have complete band history; includes an unreleased extended version of '1999' as a bonus track. The year was 1971, but the song was ‘1999’; the group was Freedom's Children, and the vibes were galactic. A many-layered album, almost to the point of being cluttered, but this is what makes it interesting. Each time you listen you can hear something new, be it a tone in Brian Davidson's wailing vocals, a riff from Julian Laxton's screaming guitar, a sequence of notes from Barry Irwin's booming bass, or the change from sticks to hands on Colin Pratley's awesome drumming. The album features some blistering, fuzz-edged guitars on the thundering ‘That Did It’ as well as the quieter and beautiful ‘Fields And Me.’ There is also the experimental keyboard piece, ‘The Crazy World Of Pod: Electronic Concerto.’ The orchestration on ‘About The Dove And His King’ adds beauty and sheen to what is a rough rock sound, due mainly to the inventive recording methods used. With layers of overdubs and no noise reduction, this method created what the sleeve notes describe as a "musical mystical mist of sound." An album that South Africans can be proud of, even thirty years later. It is a great musical achievement that can be hauled out again and again and simply marveled at. Includes an exclusive unreleased extended version of ‘1999’ as a bonus track. with bonus track CD $14 SKU:23325

GONZALEZ, WALLY -Tunog Pinoy (heavy acid blues psych Pink Floyd style)Label:VICOR ENTERTAINMENT (Philippines) Just listening to the soaring solos of the third track, ‘Pinag-isa’, makes us think how much this sounds like Pink Floyd circa “Dark Side of the Moon”—atmospheric, with breathy vocals, yet thick with that mid-70’s heavy energy at the same time; then you get to ‘Rock & Roll Mama’, and it’s stinging guitar leads and crunching rhythm section all the way; Gonzalez clearly was not a one trick (heavy acid blues rock) pony, which explains why this album has always been held in such high regard among those who had a chance to hear it. CD $10 SKU:18971

KHAZAD DOOM-Cherry Town (60s garage-psych) - Label:HALLUCINATIONS A brilliant album of fantasy Beatles-esque garage psychedelia and organ-driven psych/prog, recorded prior to Khazad Doom's legendary' "Level 6 1/2” album. In 1964, the band who was later to be called Khazad Doom started to dream of ‘making it’ in Bob Davis’ basement in Morton Grove, Illinois. After twenty-nine members and multiple names (The Vibratos, The Laymen), three musicians and a ‘Crow,’ they formally became Khazad Doom and the legend was born. Khazad Doom made a name for themselves during the early 70's with their unique style of progressive rock music, metaphorical lyrics, and stage presence. Their music was driven by pumping bass lines, dynamic Hammond swells, and multi-dimensional guitar work. On top of that, three of the four musicians contributed to beautiful three-part vocal harmonies, and counterpoint. CD $10 SKU:24710

LIFEBLUD - SOngs 1973-1978 (1970 rarity) DBLCD -Label:SEELIE COURT 380 copy limited edition first pressings in mini card gatefold sleeves, from Glass Masters (not cdrs)
Double CD with an awe inspiring 34-songs, these later tracks find Roger Knott taking on the Lifeblud mantle with various members of The Fixx, Adam and the Ants, and Ducks Deluxe helping out. Here Lifeblud reflect backwards and immerse themselves in the golden age of rock, drawing influences from Roy Orbinson, The Everly Brothers, The Beatles, and British Pop Psych, as they steer into a glorious proggy pub rock that eventually morphed into punk. The musicians on this album spread outwards from this moment ending up with artists such as Nanci Griffith. CD $22 SKU:24827

MACKAY,DUNCAN-SCORE (70s prog w bonus track)Label:FRESH Rock keyboard genius Duncan Mackay hooks up with heavyweight players like John Wetton (King Crimson, Asia), Steve Harley (Cockney Rebel) and the London Symphony Orchestra on his second album "Score". Released in 1977, it marks a departure from the all-instrumental direction of his debut "Chimera" to a more traditionally structured rock album without losing his prog rock virtuosity. Highlighted by soaring vocals, stellar playing and sweeping epic songs, "Score" is a welcome addition to Duncan's musical legacy." CD $12 SKU:20411

MANDHYLON -Negra ciudad(68-70 Argentine blues psych)Label:LION From the ashes of the mythical Argentine duo Sandhy & Mandhy—who recorded in 1969 the intensely rare and beloved album “Para Castukis” (reissued by Lion Productions on vinyl and CD), a record suffused with beat and psychedelic influences—comes this resurrection by Mandhy of his "Celestial Stories." Alberto Vanasco Jr. (Mandhy) resumes his musical tale with twelve tracks written between 1968 and 1978. Recorded with the analogue essence and sound of the 70s, using vintage instruments like Farfisa and Hammond organ, and fuzz guitar. Features Argentine rock legends Nexus as the backing band. A record which brings together all of the various crucial elements of Argentine rock music: psychedelia, heavy blues, classic rock, and progressive rock. Stunning CD $15 SKU:24763

PLASTICLAND- ST Aka Colour Appreciation (60s influenced psychedelic/garage magic) - Label:Hardknocks Hard-to-find band-authorized CD version of the 1984 debut album from these neo-psychedelic great—pure 1960s influenced psychedelic/garage magic, a trip not to be missed for any reason! This seventeen-track CD has all the material from both of these (and several other) editions of the band’s debut, including their hair-raising version of the Pretty Things’ (as Electric Banana) song ‘Alexander CD $14 SKU:23655

PRETTY THINGS-GREATEST HITS -LTD ED DBL-Label:MADFISH CD #1 25 Tracks of the very best from the dirtiest, hairiest, loudest, most controversial and influential band the world has ever seen CD #2- The Pretty Things Incredible 100 Club show from December 2010, a piece of Rock 'n' Roll history. Essential early British R&B sound from the band that stubbornly refused to lie down to popular demand; The Pretty Things religiously stuck to their guns by making great, exciting, challenging and often violently aggressive records that just weren’t quite acceptable enough to slot into the breathlessly presented but carefully airbrushed new youth-culture media. Includes the instantly recognisable ‘Rosalyn,' 'Don’t Bring Me Down,' 'Cry To Me' and many other brilliant evidences of a musicianship at the forefront of an evolving rock music scene through the 60s, 70s and 80s. The band’s songwriting prowess is best highlighted when, after their brief fling with minor R&B hits alongside such bands as The Rolling Stones, The Animals, The Yardbirds and Manfred Mann, they hit the ground running with music that fueled the “Swinging Sixties” and Mod Culture in the late 60s. The shift to Psychedelic Rock saw The Pretty Things ensconced in Abbey Road Studios, alongside The Beatles and The Pink Floyd, to record the world’s first rock opera, "S.F. Sorrow.” This spearheaded the London psychedelic revolution alongside a new completely breed of acts, like The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, Jimi Hendrix and the aforementioned Pink Floyd. So, although this “Greatest Hits” album has few charted songs, it is a truly meaningful historical document of the greatest band with the fewest hits, but with the best music.

The Pretty Things’ "Greatest Hits" features as the final track: 'Mr. Tambourine Man,' which was originally offered to The Pretty Things — who turned it down before The Byrd’s famous version was recorded; the Pretty’s finally recorded their own take in 2016, keeping true to their style. Booklet includes individual track commentary from band members Dick Taylor and Phil May, plus liner notes from long-time manager Mark St. John. The double CD, presented in a 6-panel digipack packaging, contains a special bonus CD of an exclusive recorded performance of the band’s debut self-titlted album at London’s infamous 100 Club. The Pretty Things were fundamental in the development of British music. They enjoyed much critical success and were a huge influence on artists as diverse as David Bowie, Aerosmith, The Ramones, Bob Dylan, The Sex Pistols, The White Stripes, Kasabian, The Lightning Seeds and countless more. Their music has been used in feature films including Guy Ritchie's 'RocknRolla', and on TV shows as recent as Britannia II. The band created a rich music catalogue including the classic albums The Pretty Things, S.F. Sorrow & Parachute, and remained a significant artistic and creative force throughout their entire 55+ year career. They have continued to release iconic and influential recordings, right up to the present day, with a new album due for release later this year. They also remained a potent live act, as is shown on 'The Final Bow', highlighting their last electric gig at the O2 which featured special guests including Van Morrison and David Gilmour accompanying Phil and The Pretty Things live on stage. CD $12 SKU:24001

RED KRAYOLA - FAMILIAR UGLY Parable Of The Arable Land-Hardbound Book + 2xCD-Label:CHARLY On their 1967 debut album, the Red Crayola themselves conjure up a sound that's part psychedelia, part garage punk, and partly some sort of experimental rock that would not truly make itself known until many years down the road, and they generate an impressively freaked-out energy on deliberately primitive numbers like ‘War Sucks’ and 'Hurricane Fighter Plane.’ Six of the twelve tracks on The Parable of Arable Land are devoted to the Red Crayola; the rest find the three members of the group collaborating with friends, acquaintances, and fellow travelers credited as "the Familiar Ugly.” Pitchfork gave it a 9.3 and said: “In March 1967, The Red Crayola walked into the studio and spent a day making one of the most visionary album of the year, The Parable of Arable Land. It's a band that has no idea how to play its instruments. In fact, they don't even know what instruments are, or if the guitarist has the ability to remain conscious long enough to play whatever it is a "note" might be. Shattered psalms, wobbling percussion courtesy of poet Frederick Barthelme, patently overused echo chambers, and the clumsiest staircase bassline in garage history smashes into a bunch of clopping machine men as Mayo Thompson croons out the only serious line in his entire career: "I have in my pocket a hurricane fighter plane.” After Houston-based International Artists Records enjoyed unexpected commercial success with one of the most eccentric bands to emerge from the State of Texas, the 13th Floor Elevators, the label's proprietors presumably set out to find some folks who were even weirder, and they found a band that fit the bill in the Red Crayola. Media book packaging is very nice.
Along with the Elevators, The Red Crayola were the mainstays of the International Artists label, and are recognised in Psychedelic circles as producing some of the strangest music ever (combining elements of avant-garde and garage with wild, experimental freak-outs and chilling stripped down songs which sounded unlike anything from the 1960s). CD $15 SKU:24855

SANDALWOOD-CHANGELING(1971 folk /rock holy grail)-Label:SEELIE COURT LTD ED OF 300 Originally released in 1971 in an edition of only 50 copies, all of which were handed out to friends, this UK folk-rock holy grail sees its awaited reissue on vinyl. Featuring two girls (on vocals and guitar) and a male bassist, Sandalwood played utterly beguiling fairy-like folk rock. Genre addicts will adore this LP. CD $19 SKU:24761

STRAY-Mudanzas (1966 hard rock prog)- Label:TALKING ELEPHANT Stray had a prolific career, yet managed to elude the fame enjoyed by contemporaries like Cream, Thin Lizzy, or even Mountain. Formed in 1966, the hard rock, prog, and R&B outfit comprised of vocalist/guitarist Del Bromham, vocalist/guitarist Steve Gadd, bass player Gary Giles, and drummer Ritchie Cole signed to Transatlantic Records and released its debut, self-titled album in 1970. The group flirted with success throughout the '70s, releasing nine more records. “Mudanzas” (“Changes”) was their 1973 album. ‘I Believe It’ is an elegiac number crowned with a guitar solo reminiscent, in key, to ‘Stairway to Heaven;’ ‘Pretty Things’ more urgent, with room for blistering six-string work from Del Bromham. The guitarist did away entirely with these frills on more stripped-down, fan-familiar hard rock efforts like the Quadrophenia-esque ‘It's Alright Ma!’ and the Status Quo-styled boogie rock of ‘Hallelujah.’ He then led the group down distinctly Beatles-ish roads on ‘Oil Fumes and Sea Air’ and ‘Soon as You've Grown.’ Del Bromham (guitarist): “When we were signed up by Wilf Pine of Worldwide Artists, his decision was to take us off of the road for a while as we’d been constantly gigging for years. He thought coming back after a period of absence with a new sound and look could be what was needed. So now music was going to be the top priority. I remember when Wilf heard the new material for ‘Mudanzas’ he said: ‘I thought I’d signed the new Black Sabbath, but I think I’ve found the Beatles instead.’” CD $12 SKU:24857

t2-1971- 1972 W 12 PAGE BOOKLET(PSYCH PROG Power trio)Label:ACME LION Third and last archival set of recordings from the classic era of UK psych/prog legends T2. Digipack with 12-page booklet detailing T2's three sets of recordings from the psychedelic era CD $12 SKU:15489

TERRY & THE PIRATES- Comanche Boots (70s San Francisco Quicksilver Messenger Service )-Label:ACADIA Twenty nine years after the release of the original Too Close For Comfort comes the third issue of this priceless and timeless music from San Francisco's own Terry & The Pirates.” Another view: “Probably only remembered today as one of the many bands graced by the guitarwork of John Cipollina following his departure from Quicksilver Messenger Service, and as a footnote in the career of Nicky Hopkins, Terry and the Pirates deserve much greater recognition. Although Cipollina’s feral guitar is undoubtedly essential to their charms, the work of Terry Dolan himself should not be underestimated. His voice is an acquired taste, a strange mixture of David Crosby and Captain Beefheart, but as such, it’s impressively distinctive. Meanwhile, his songwriting mines that same rich vein of American folk which yielded ‘Pride Of Man’ (so memorably covered by Quicksilver). The best songs on this collection of various live and studio recordings are certainly Dolan’s own. Whilst a version of Jackie Wilson’s ‘Higher & Higher’ might be entertainingly audacious, covers of ‘Mystery Train’ and ‘Don’t Do It’ aren’t going to make anybody forget those by The Band, despite some impressive sparring between Cipollina and second guitarist Greg Douglass on the latter. In this context, tracks like ‘Inside and Out’ and ‘Inlaws and Outlaws’ distinguish themselves as fine examples of original Californian rock n’ roll. Even if none of this is especially ground-breaking or epoch-defining music, it’s played with spirit and any fans of West Coast music who might have easily overlooked it should be sure to rectify their mistake. CD $10 SKU:18999

UMBRA - ST(Brown ACid 70s heavy)Label:LION Umbra’s story is that of a band from the early 1970’s who recorded what they wanted to record: heavy, heavy music from the start of the “American Comedown Era” as we’ve seen it described by our friends for their “Brown Acid” series; a band whose music, terrific though it is, has never to this point been released out into the wide world. The tracks are hard-edged and heavy, verging on acid rock at times. Makes sense, as Umbra was a power trio most of their too-brief existence. Yet the songs (heavy though they are) have a deft touch. Spacey intros and weird effects were created by recording guitar licks, then re-recording them played backwards at double speed. There is an utterly refreshing category-free approach to writing songs that makes Umbra’s music exciting to hear. Comes with a 16-page booklet, with lyrics, photos, plus interesting and funny things that can only happen to musicians, and did to Umbra. CD $14 SKU:21740

VAGRANTS-I Can't Make A Friend 1965 - 1968 (The band that inspired The Ramones.)Label:LITA The band that inspired The Ramones.Official collection of all the band’s singles recorded for such labels as Southern Sound, Vanguard, and ATCO. Release includes unseen photos, liner notes by Mike Stax (Ugly Things), and interview with Johnny Ramone. “Respect” featured on the original Nuggets compilation CD $12 SKU:24191

A FINE DAY AND A BRILLIANT EVENING -Cherry Red Rarities 1983-85 (willowy pop)Label:CHERRY RED More willowy pop of yesteryear from the vaults of Cherry Red. The second release in the Cherry Red Rarities series, is a collection of rare and upstanding tracks from three of Cherry Red’s most popular artists: Jane And Barton, Grab Grab The HaddocUk (yes, they really did exist) and In Embrace. “The juxtaposition of the three artists here seems coincidental, yet they successfully present different facets of the sound of the label during the early 80's. Jane & Barton start with the acapella 'It's A Fine Day' which was later turned into the Opus III dancefloor smash. Flute and percussion accompany Jane on 'I Want To Be With You' to nice pastoral effects a la Virginia Astley, although the latter would have never named one of her songs 'Ha Bloody Ha', which poses such thought-provoking questions as "Did you hear about the woman who died" or "What part of a vegetable can't you eat". Simple voice and piano arrangement on 'There Is A Man' and 'You Are Over There' makes ideal lazy afternoon listening, only to be rudely disturbed by Mr.Barton's grating screech on 'You Are Over There Part Two'. Onto the marvelously named Grab Grab The Haddock, which included two of the three Marine Girls after Tracey Thorn went on to form Everything But The Girl. They pretty much carried on with the style of their previous band, only now augmented to a four-piece. Lightweight summery guitar pop, the stuff that made Cherry Red famous. In Embrace played moody melodic pop with guitar and synths. Although once described as 'introverted and emotionally unfathomable' the songs are actually quite classy and the sentiments deeply felt. 'The Darkest Horse' features a spine-tingling chord progression slightly reminiscent of the Cocteaus. They should have been big. The CD ends with a bonus video of 'It's A Fine Day'. CONGREGATION FOR ANTI FLIRTS -The McAllen, Texas Teen Scene 1965-1967 -Label:CICADELIC RECORDS \Subtitled: The McAllen, Texas Teen Scene 1965-1967. "From 1965 to 1967, McAllen was the happening scene for some of the wildest music to emanate from Texas in the '60s. The label that played host to these bands was Jimmy Nichol's Pharaoh Records and this album contains the best the label had to offer. Not only were the records superlative, but today they are considered some of the rarest finds for collectors of '60s garage bands. Singles by Pharaoh artists such as The Headstones, The Cavaliers, and Christopher and The Souls go for over a grand apiece, if they can be located. Congregation For Anti-Flirts Inc. also contains in depth coverage on the McAllen bands with rare photos, radio charts, and interviews, making this album a journey to pharaoh's valley that can't be missed. OUR BRILLIANT CAREERS -Cherry Red Rarities 1981-83-Label:CHERRY RED Cherry Red carved out an odd niche for itself apart from the general post-punk flow, thanks largely to eccentric A&R man Mike Always, whose tastes leaned towards melody, Englishness, and the 1960’s. Cherry red became a home for the dashing, debonair whimsy of he Monochrome Set, the mopy bedsit introspection of Eyeless in Gaza, jazzy-folky singer-songwriters Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt (separately and together as Everything But the Girl), and the Television/Velvets descended, plangent splendor of Felt. Although “Pillows and Prayers” is the best-known sampler of the label, its precursor “Perspectives and Distortions” (1981) includes many non-Cherry Red artists, which makes it very interesting; and “Our Brilliant Careers” (2003) scoops up archival arcane. It includes rare tracks by successful Cherry Red artists like Everything But The Girl (plus solo material from both Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt), The Nightingales and The Monochrome Set, plus many more. Most people probably know Five Or Six from their off-key but charming opener 'Portrait' from “Pillows and Prayers”; here we have six like low-key and absorbing tracks from them, most of which have never been on CD: 'Think' and 'Theme' are instrumentals that will surprise a few. There are also three early songs by Ben Watt described modestly by himself as 'dreary and tuneless'. Beautiful instrumental version of 'The Thousand Guitars of St. Dominiques' by the Fantastic Something ends up as the most surprising track—a high point of the collection.” Impressive and intriguing archive collection of rare recordings. AYERS, JAY - ST (1980 yacht rock perfection)-SAALE! Label:TAM Jay Ayers’ self-titled album from 1980 opens with 'Midnight Lady,' three minutes of yacht rock perfection. High-pitched doo-doos and la-la-las hover overhead as the supple rhythm section lays a rock-solid foundation and Ayers yearns desperately for love, even if it’s from a pro. Prominent acoustic guitars give the song rhythmic propulsion like some of the best country-rock hits of the era, and an unexpected clarinet appears midway through to sweeten the mix. 'Easy Way Out' connects, delicately addressing depression with an appropriately melancholy backing and topped with a memorable vocal hook from Ayers in the way he sings the song’s title. The mood suddenly changes on side B, opening with a lively mashup of 'Different Drum' and 'Mr. Tambourine Man.' The guitars are jangly and the sound is more primitive. When he sings, Ayers sounds like a filthy drunkard wailing for quarters on a busy street corner. Instead of shortening the songs and butting them together to create a traditional medley, the tunes are carefully interwoven together, and the seams never show. The more reckless sound on side B shows more personality than the first half. The cover of 'American Girl’ perhaps doesn’t contain the conviction of the original, but the Petty-influenced 'It’s So Hard' is an engaging power-popper with some nifty vocal interplay. I wonder if the mix of the slithery 'One More Night' was intentional. The distant instruments and echo-heavy vocal create a smoky haze, enhancing the lyrics about foolishly holding on to someone." LORE CITY Participation MystiqueLP + download (elements of psych rock, post- rock, dark wave, and dream pop)SAALE! Label:LORE CITY Praise for Lore City:
“Lore City pack a mystical punch” – LOUD WOMEN"Their cinematic flair bodes well for a soundtrack to the great shift of humanity.” – POST-PUNK“a trance-inducing shamanistic ritual, meant to bring you closer to both one’s ancestors and the universe” – The Joy of Violent Movement“positively artful and stirring” – Destroy//Exist “sounds as if it were reverberating in a deep cave below the forest floor” – Tome to the Weather Machine“a massively psychedelic landscape” – MangoWave“brings a unique, atmospheric sound, has a post-punk feel, and a mystical aura” – Roadie Music“combines elements of psych rock, post- rock, dark wave, and dream pop” – YMX “close your eyes and let the music seep into your brain” – Faeton Music “natural and unique” – Artists Central“Lore City has made a seriously successful attempt to innovate” – Maxazin Album Statement and Backstory"Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow never was. Move your piece around the board, sheath of the physical. Light the lamp within. Corral. Catch sight of a fireball careening across the sky, blazing. Something is on fire, and it’s coming down on us. Lull into the love that is afforded to you, lull into the lead of sleep, lull into the movies. Push, pull. Marching to our realizations, marching to work, marching to our resolutions. And you’re waiting, waiting for that call to come. Standing across from, standing next to, coming to a standstill. Earthly divide. The eternal afternoons, parallel. The moments when something moves closer. A phantom ship wafting, calling home across the water. Recreating the familiar, ancient original feeling. An expanse, cascading.
A rare event happened in early 2020, something that occurs only once every 500 years. Saturn directly aligned with Pluto within the constellation of Capricorn. Essentially, hard lessons joined forces with transformational evolution regarding the infrastructure between the material and the spirit. I know you know. Queued up in a world of limbo and revolution, Lore City tunneled into new songs, finally sending Alchemical Task to press in the early summer days. By then, they were halfway through Participation Mystique. Original Feeling cleared the way, and by the time Buttons materialized with somber holiness, they knew it was finished. Another installment for the continuum, its contents esoterically encyclopedic." LP $18 SKU:24630

Every production trick of the glorious 1970s was deployed to push Barı up the European charts, and now they can push him right into your brain instead LP $15 SKU:20788

REAL EYES-ST + A4 size, leatherette, soft cover 90-page book with drawings and lyricsLabel:WIZARD Rare local US private pressing from 1981. Described thus by one writer: "Dreamy all over, with progressive folk elements; flat out psychedelic rock in some tracks. Interesting and thoughtful songwriting. A great discovery!!!”; described elsewhere as "sounds running the gamut from soft folk, to psych heavy metal,” and also as "tasty and creative stuff throughout,” by a third scribe…. and this way in Acid Archives:"One of the best 1980s discoveries, this is pretty wild stuff, has a crude garage edge, especially when it gets heavy. The songwriting is pretty interesting and thoughtful, and as private press LPs go, this is distinctive and memorable enough to explain why psych dealers jumped on its bandwagon. A lot of the lyrics are pretty stoned. There is a lot going on here, with enough weird hooks and surprising moments to give any listener a fair amount of kicks. I like side two, especially the closing 'Visions of Obscurity V,' better than side one. In the long run, whether this will be a keeper for any individual listener will probably be determined by the insane 12-minute 'Madman’s Game,' an elaborate epic that encapsulates everything distinctive about this record.” —Acid Archives LP $40 SKU:24383
