COSTA, CESAR -LA Historia De Tommy (1963 Mexican oddity)Label:DIMSA MINI LP COVER . La Historia de Tommy is a varied set of tunes from Mexican actor and singer César Costa cut in the 1960s that starts off with the story of our titular Tommy. Tommy, a speed demon it seems, just couldn't control himself on the track and fatally flips his car. Lucky for us, he has time to send his girlfriend a message of eternal love in the form of a bouncy yet plaintive pop ballad. The songs offer everything from Sinatra-esque swing and highly-orchestrated pop to sax-driven R&B. Titles include "La Historia De Tommy," "Té Para Dos," "Bethilde," "Laura," "Historia De Me Amor," and more. CD $10 SKU:19518

MOUNTAIN - Live At The Capitol Theater 1973-Label:VOICEPRINT This King Biscuit Flower Hour concert was recorded in late 1973 at the Capitol Theatre in Passaic, New Jersey. By this point, the band had been through many of the cliche rock band phases: the breakup, the side-projects, a reunion with new members. The short version of the story is that the band split up, and Leslie and Corky hooked up with former Cream bassist/vocalist Jack Bruce to form the supergroup West, Bruce and Laing, with whom they put out a number of albums. Mountain later reunited, but during '73, the band went on a Japanese tour without Laing, because of an alleged dispute between him and Pappalardi. CD $10 SKU:19516

ROCKIN DEVIL’,LOS -Grandes Hits Le - Mexican Beatles, Kinks covers! Label:ORFEON MINI LP COVER . Los Rockin Devil's were, throughout the '60s, one of the most successful Mexican rock bands, and we have here a concise yet incredibly diverse greatest hits album culled from the material they recorded for the Orfeon label. Los Rockin Devil's achieved their continued popularity by churning out great Spanish-language covers of international (mostly British and American) hits. Here they try their hand at material from massive names like The Beatles' "Let It Be (Ven a mi)," Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love (Demasiado Amor)," The Kinks' "Victoria," and Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Up Around the Bend (El Café de Amor)." The set starts with their cover of The Beeds' obscure garagey folk-pop gem "Run to Her (Corre tras ella)," and also includes Shocking Blue's "Venus," bubblegum-y pop tracks like "Sugar, Sugar (Azúcar azúcar)," The Clique/Tommy James & The Shondells' "Sugar on Sunday (Dulce sería)," "Looky Looky" by Giorgio Moroder, and a cover of R.B. Greaves' soul classic "Take a Letter Maria (Lleva Esta Carta María)." Stylistically disparate to be sure, but the group pulls off these different styles with loads of energy, which makes this a really entertaining collection. CD $10 SKU:19519

TONGUE - Keep on Truckin (forgotten classic of late'60s American psych)Label:GEAR FAB Tongue were a blues-based, organ-fueled, country and rural folk-influenced hard rock band that emerged from the copious student population of countercultural Wisconsin. Though Tongue remains a criminally underrated outfit, and never made it big on a national level, their touring reached legendary status, particularly in the mid-west. They were on the road for 10 years and played 250 gigs a year without flying to a single one of them. CD $10 SKU:19455

WOOLLY BANDITS- Say Hello to My Little Friend- (60s garage style) ) Label:DIONYSUS UNSEALED Drilled bar code Say Hello to My Little Friend by The Woolly Bandits Former Disney Star Turns Woman of Mass Destruction! The Woolly Bandits we're born in 2004 from the resurrection of 1960's garage rock legends The Seeds as the new back-up band. Los Angeles Veteran Rock N' Roll Crusader, Rik Collins, rescued acid-guru, and way-out Seeds front man Sky Saxon from virtual obscurity in 2002. Rik Collins (vocals, bass) and Mark Bellgraph (guitar) formed the new back-up band for Sky Saxon and toured Europe three times and helped to bring Sky back to prominence before his passing last year. The audiences, press and promoters wanted to know who this new young band was. It was at this point the bands European booking agent suggested they start their own band, and The Woolly Bandits were born. The band named themselves after a nickname one of Sky's girlfriends had given him and released, in 2006, their debut album "Say Hello To My Little Friend" on Dionysus Records as a three piece. In 2005, The Woolly Bandits made an important addition to the group, Christa Collins (formerly Christa Larson. When Christa Collins joined the Woolly Bandits, she had not performed since a guest appearance on Michael Jackson's "Heal the World" in 1991. As Disney's first recording artist and the prototype for the child music star (Christa Larson - Minnie and Me), her career was on a trajectory for stardom. And then tragedy struck. While on tour in Australia supporting her new CD, Christa's mother, Denice, was tragically killed by a hit-and-run driver. Christa was no longer the same girl after losing her mother, manager, and guiding force. Disney released Christa from her recording contract shortly after, at age 12. It would be years and many transformations before Christa returned to the stage. CD $3 SKU:17579

CYKLE -ST ( US garage / psych 69)Label:OUT SIDER Top notch US garage / psychedelic album from 1969: Vox organ, fuzzy guitars, snotty vocals and impressive songwriting / recording quality. Featuring all-time acid-punk classics such as “It’s Her” and “Walkout Of My Mind”. Cykle was formed in 1968, North Carolina, when gifted musician and songwriter Jimmy Sossamon (previously in famous local band The Young Ones) heard a local group, the Glory Cykle. He was so impressed that he approached them about becoming their manager. The band -- guitarists Ralph Stevens and Jeff Hardin, bassist Grady Pope, organist Rick Wilson, and drummer/vocalist Ken Allen -- practiced at the studio Sossamon had built in his parent's garage, and by the end of the year, Sossamon took up the drummer’s seat to free up Allen as lead vocalist. Band’s name was shortened to Cykle and in early 1969 they began recording an album consisting entirely of Sossamon originals. The resultant eponymous LP was released later that year as a private pressing of 500 copies on the band’s own Label Records. But despite the 1969 release date, “Cykle” sounds straight from the 1966-67 garage-punk-psychedelic book. *Insert with detailed liner notes *LP housed in an old- school- style tip- on sleeve. “When the most popular garage bands of the day were moving further and further away from the genre’s “less is more” production ideal, Cykle offered a raw, authentic take on what garage rock was meant to sound like.” - Psychedelized. Dangerous Rhythm formed in Mexico in August 1978 and can claim to be one of the first punk bands in the country. Piro, the band's vocalist, immersed himself in the whole Los Angeles scene, and was in contact with the Chicano side of the city through Tito Larriva from The Plugz and other bands from the area like Circle Jerks, Fear, and Black Flag. The impact of punk classics like the Sex Pistols, The Clash, or the Ramones obviously had an influence on the sound of the group. Dangerous Rhythm never forgot their family tree, absorbing large doses of unconventional rock like the New York Dolls, The Stooges, and Lou Reed. All these elements helped the band forge their own style and sound, starting with songs sung mostly in English and vibrant, direct melodies. After laying the foundations of the non-existent punk scene and recording their debut, Electroshock, they released their first eponymous LP in 1981. It was released by Hip 70, a label run by Armando Blanco, who owned the club of the same name, which was the focal point of the Mexican scene in the '80s. Key figures of '70s counterculture like Ricardo Ochoa (Peace and Love, Nahuatl) and veterans like Max Reese (sound engineer for Tom Petty) collaborated on the recording, which was then mastered by Wally Traugott, who worked on the live album The Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl (1977). The end result was mind-blowing and shows a band with nerve that played new wave with a punk rhythm. LP $17 SKU:17205

DEAD BOYS - Younger, Louder & Snottier ( Rough mixes from 78 ) LAST ONES! Label:BOMP Records YOUNGER, LOUDER AND SNOTTIER is a collection of rough mixes of the 10 tracks from the Dead Boys' classic 1978 debut, YOUNG, LOUD AND SNOTTY, in the same order as the original release. ...Amazingly, these rough mixes are even louder and snottier than the LP.
"Sonic Reducer" in particular has a corrosive edge to it that makes this dead-on punk classic even more powerful than it had been before. While some of the other tracks are less notably altered, there's a freshness to these sloppier takes that makes YOUNGER, LOUDER AND SNOTTIER not only an impressive complement to the original, but possibly its superior.
Recorded at Electric Lady Studios in March 1977 Includes liner notes by Cheetah Chrome. Dead Boys: Stiv Bators (vocals); Jimmy Zero, Cheetah Chrome (guitar); Jeff Magnum (bass guitar); Johnny Blitz (drums).
Liner Note Authors: Charles M. Young; Stiv Bators; Cheetah Chrome.

DETONATIONS-Static Vision ( Raw Power-era Stooges style!) LAST COPIES Label:DISASTER Color vinyl. A three piece rock-n-roll time bomb from New Orleans with a unique freaked-out sound. “Now THIS is what's been lost in the age of CD: rocking out and then getting out before one's welcome has been royally outstayed. Detonations have the same laudably single minded approach as Raw Power-era Stooges, paring everything down to pure driven riff.” - Shindig. “Sneered vocals, clunky rhythms and buzzsaw guitar riffs, all stripped of any non-essentials like harmony vocals and solos that consist of more than the song's main riff played louder.” – AMG LP $10 SKU:4481
