BAKER GURVITZ ARMY -Live In Milan Italy 1976 -Label:VOICEPRINT The Baker Gurvitz Army came into existence when former Gun and Three man Army members Paul and Adrian Gurvitz joined forces with legendary drummer Ginger Baker in 1974. The Baker Gurvitz Army was the first real musical project for Ginger Baker since the short-lived band Salt in 1972 and Ginger Baker's Airforce some two years prior to that. The band released their first album the self titled “Baker Gurvitz Army” in late 1974, and the album sold well enough to break in to the American charts. The band went on to record two further studio albums including “Elysian Encounter” in 1975 and “Hearts On Fire” in 1976. This live recording, which forms part of the Official Ginger Baker Bootleg Series, was recorded in Milan on the 23rd of March 1976 during the tour to promote what would turn out to be the bands final studio album, “Hearts On Fire.” The set list at this time reflecting the desire to promote the album included four tracks from the album including ‘Hearts On Fire,’ ‘Night People,’ ‘Thirsty For The Blues’ and ‘Neon Lights.’ There are also two tracks from “Elysian Encounter” (‘People’ and ‘Time’) and two from the bands self titled debut (‘Inside Of Me’ and ‘Memory Lane’). BERMUDA TRIANGLE- Missing Tapes (70s trippy 77 hippie psych) Label:WINTER SOLSTICE This is a compilation of Live and previously unreleased tracks from the 70's. Another extremely rare piece of Psych reissued. Originally released as a private pressing in 1977. This wild album is extremely trippy & has to be heard. import CD $10 SKU:19050

BERMUDA TRIANGLE- ST (70s trippy 77 hippie psych) Label:WINTER SOLSTICE What do you do if you are a married psychedelic folk duo from the 1960’s who had been pals with Greenwich Village coffee house and club stalwarts like, say, Jimi Hendrix, had your one shot at major label glory (a MGM/Heritage label release under the band name Euphoria) ruined by the producer of those sessions, and then had your self-released album from the mid-1970’s (as Bermuda Triangle) bootlegged by the pernicious Radioactive/Fallout/Phoenix/Past & Present/Sunbeam reissue juggernaut? Well, if you’re Roger and Wendy, you dig through your tapes, and not only do you release the original Bermuda Triangle album, with six bonus tracks, but you also release a second, equally enchanting disc of alternate takes and other recordings dating from the same era! The psychedelic folk music of Roger and Wendy is astonishing, beautiful, and enchanting without sounding dated. Truly wonderful music with its own original sound, which to a great extent stems from Roger Penney's electric autoharp, the enchanting voice of Wendy Penney and the unique arrangements that combine the two. Listen, for example, to the unusual way in which the duo interpret a classic like ‘Nights In White Satin’ (on the original Bermuda Triangle album, first released in 1977). Everything that follows is as good, perhaps even better still. All in all, something of a stunner. A few months ago we had never heard of Bermuda Triangle, apart from the occasional entry in record collector’s lists. Now, we cherish these two albums from a band who seemed to be destined to be a footnote in the history of psychedelic folk, but have now been promoted to their proper status as a major chapter in that self-same history. There's often a celebratory feeling to the music, from rock tracks to more pastoral tracks like the album closer, ‘Wind,’ a song which has a trippy psychedelic atmosphere, thanks to ethereal folk vocals, moody electric piano, and bass. We can all be grateful that this music is available from the source, with abundant bonus material, as the resultant album is a joy; any acid folk / rural roots fans should grab it with both hands and rush to the nearest CD player. Weird and beautiful. "(On) this gem, the sound is totally lost in time and transports you back to the carefree days of the early seventies and is extremely trippy. You have to check out the wah wah autoharp, the weird percussion and bass. A great listen. Almost predates the current folktronica scene. This wild album has to be heard and is quite superb from folk to reels to country all bathed in this misty autoharped glory." —Forced Exposure magazine "Transcendental female vocals, elaborate keyboard arrangements, and autoharp which is often treated with phasing, flanging and other effects. Fine originals. This album is kind of a shock on first listen, because at least to these jaded ears it's not often I discover something so original and bizarre."—Acid Archives Another extremely rare piece of Psych reissued. Originally released as a private pressing in 1977. This wild album is extremely trippy & has to be heard. import CD $10 SKU:19054

CHAMBERS BROTHERS- Time Has Come Today BEST OF(60s PSYCH!)Label:TRACK RECORDS As the Chambers Brothers' albums could be erratic and/or excessive, this 16-track best-of, covering their 1966-70 prime, is a most welcome distillation of their career highlights. Focusing mostly on their late-'60s singles (some of them non-LP), it also includes a live rendition of "Wade in the Water" and a rejected, even more psychedelicized, 1966 version of their signature tune, "Time Has Come Today." By concentrating on the band's most economic and soulful outings, this disc is the most effective compilation of their gospel-soul-psychedelia." -AllMusic Guide CD $10 SKU:19055

CRACK IN THE COSMIC EGG -Encyclopedia of Krautrock, Kosmische Musik & Other Progressive (CD-ROM) comes in a DVD case)Label:ULTIMA THULE (UK) Encyclopedia of Krautrock, Kosmische Musik & Other Progressive, Experimental & Electronic Musics From Germany (THULE 001CDROM): Written by Krautrock experts Alan and Steven Freeman, and previously published as a paperback book (long o/p), this is now available only in the somewhat archaic CD-ROM format! As the Freeman brothers say: “The Crack In The Cosmic Egg has been hailed by musicians as the most informative insight into German rock and related musics, endorsed by Faust's Jean-Hervé Peron, Amon Düül 2's Chris Karrer, really enthused about by Guru Guru's Mani Neumeier. The book version, first published in December 1996, has been out-of-print for a while now, and is now becoming quite a collectable. We described the book version as the definitive encyclopedia of Krautrock, Kosmische Musik and all things weird and wonderful from Germany. It contained 1177 entries (Krautrock bands, soloists, etc.), 2500 albums (including musician details), plus non-LP singles, compilation contributions, as well as two 16-page picture sections, including many rare photos, 150+ LP covers. In its pages were histories, biographies, reviews, discographies, articles on major scenes, indices, etc. Well over 4,000 copies were sold! Over ten years on from the book, and with six or more years of intensive research, the revised PC CD-Rom edition has become an enormous beast. Almost everything you ever wanted to know. An interactive off-line web site of HTML pages, with lots of extras, like color photos of everything we could get our hands on, as well as rare adverts, posters, gig photos, etc. There are even some choice exclusive music samples (3 hours) and videos! JONESY- Richochet-Pioneering in 1972-73 (obscure 70s prog)-Label:TRACK RECORDS (UK) Jonesy are the last great secret of the early seventies progressive rock era. A wildly acclaimed British group whose influences vary from Frank Zappa, can, neu, Ian Carr's nucleus and King Crimson, Popol Vuh and the West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band. The original vinyl editions of their three original albums (from which this compilation is drawn) on Pye's specialist Dawn label are expensive collectables. The music has aged well and for once the inflated price tag is entirely justifiable. The group were brilliant musicians, pioneers who were not above creating under the influences of strange substances. The music is very psychedelic and hugely compelling. “Jonesy were an early 70's band in the style of King Crimson but with the unusual element of electric trumpet from Alan Bown. Other band members were John Evan-Jones - guitar & backing vocals, Jamie Kaleth - lead vocals & keyboards (including some excellent Mellotron), Gypsy Jones - lead vocals, bass guitar & recorders and Plug Thomas - percussion and backing vocals. They recorded three albums on the Dawn Label "No Alternative", "Keeping Up" and "Growing". All are strong with the aforementioned King influences. All can be approached with a degree of assurity (sic.)..."-Dave Preston/Progarchives.com CD $8 SKU:19058

MORAZ, PATRICK- Future Memories 1 and 11(MOODY BLUES)-Label:TIME WAVE Swiss born Patrick Moraz is probably best known in rock music circles for his membership of two of the world’s biggest rock bands, Yes and the Moody Blues. He was also been a member of the progressive rock band Mainhorse, forming the band with bassist Jean Ristori in 1969 and releasing one self titled album in 1970. By the time of the release of Moraz’s debut solo album in early 1976, he was firmly installed as the keyboard player in Yes. Following the release of Relayer all the members of Yes embarked on solo projects thus ensuring that his “The Story Of I” received maximum coverage in the music press. He then released his second solo album in 1977 (“Out In The Sun”) before joining the Moody Blues. As can be deduced from the title the second disc on offer here is a pairing of the first two Future Memories releases gathered together on one release. As with all the albums in the Patrick Moraz reissue campaign, this album has been re mastered for release by Moraz himself from the original master tapes. (Time Wave) CD $6 SKU:19061

MOUSTAKI ,GEORGES - Le Concert (French 50s/60s outsider)Label:PAZZAZZ (Germany) lAthough he achieved his greatest fame in France, singing French-language songs in a distinctly French style, singer/songwriter Georges Moustaki was more a citizen of the world—or, as he often put it a “citizen of the French language.’ Christening himself a cultural “mongrel" in his signature hit ’Le Métèque," Moustaki’s first love was the classic-style French chanson—but he often appropriated world folk music from Greece, Turkey, the Middle East, Brazil (bossa nova and MPB), Argentina (tango) and other parts of Latin America, the United States (blues and jazz), and anywhere else his travels took him. Simplicity was a hallmark of many of his own recordings; possessed of a soft, warm voice, he often sang with only his own guitar for accompaniment, creating an intimacy that translated to his live gigs as well. A successful artist in his own right, Moustaki initially made his name as a songwriter of some renown, composing material for many of the top French singers of the late '50s and ’60s, his one-time lover Édith Piaf (including the massive hit ‘Milord’), Barbara, Brigitte Fontaine, Dalida (including ‘Gigi l'amoroso’), France Gall, and Cindy Daniel. Moustaki has moonlighted as a poet, actor, novelist, and journalist at various points in his career, and remains one of France's more ambitious artists as his trademark beard and long, flowing hair have turned white. He ended up on the West Coast, hanging out in Laurel Canyon, and eventually carved out a career in the record biz. As he says, "Making 'Life After Life' has truly been a labor of love for me. There’s nothing – well, almost nothing – that gives me greater pleasure and satisfaction than working in the studio. And to finally record this collection of songs, which I regard as my finest work, is an achievement I will always look back on with pride CD $6 SKU:19064

NON STOP (HERU AVENGER)-PAris to Berlin(70s German version of the future of music)Label:INITIATES INTERNATIONAL Offshoot of the Heru Avenger project, which shares some of the influences of that group, but streamlines the sound towards a retro 70s German version of the future of music; wailing guitars and the drone of electronics -- very much in the early Kraftwerk mode, and with a similar penchant for spare, long tracks CD $6 SKU:19060

OOSTEN, MICHAEL - St (70s hippie psych) w 3 bonus tracks.-Label:WAY GONE + LION PRODUCTIONS (USA) It was sometime during the mid-'60s that the countercultural and rock & roll lifestyles merged. Any kid with an acoustic guitar and songwriting ambition suddenly had accessible role models in the folk and rock worlds to emulate, and plenty of venues throughout America at which to try out their songs and pick up new, progressive musical tricks in the process. Michael Oosten began his musical journey playing in various rock bands. Keeping a band together was difficult. He had begun writing songs that veered away from pop-song copies; and then there was the relative ease and lack of responsibility required for hauling around a guitar. And so, Oosten began a solo career. With a Martin guitar in hand, he took off, playing in coffeehouses and clubs across the country. By the end of 1973, he was ready to record an LP. Oosten settled on five songs and rounded up a couple of friends to fill out his folk/rock/psych sound: some piano from Tom Hennick on ‘Hey Babe,’ vocals from Jan Reek on ‘Garden,’ and bass from Al Byla on ‘Sunny Day.’ True to Oosten's nature, the album was sunny and full of charm, and it reflected his itinerant philosophy of life at the time. University of Wisconsin art professor George Cramer, and Mercury Records graphic artist, John Craig, came up with airbrushed artwork which graces the album's sleeve, and Oosten and friend Lester D'ore (former editor of Chicago countercultural paper Seed and designer of the Yippie flag) holed up at D'ore's Wisconsin commune farm to silkscreen each LP jacket by hand. And what an odd record, full of buoyant psychedelic folk/rock—woodsy, spare, and warm—that sounds as if it could have been recorded on the front porch of a country house. Needless to say, considering the individualistic nature of the album's genesis, marketing and publicity for the album was limited to Oosten driving to radio stations in surrounding cities to hand-deliver copies to DJs. Still, ‘Wayfaring Boy’ received quite a bit of airplay in Madison, and the album as a whole gained solid play on college campuses. Columbia Records expressed interest in Oosten's music; but after a single meeting with the label, it was clear that the album would be too difficult for the mainstream honchos to market. Oosten's whimsical, wayward talk-singing puts us in mind of other meandering vocal faves from various eras (like the Incredible String Band, or the Meatpuppets, to name but two). The album has plenty of lovely musical and instrumental bits, from the bouncy ‘Hey Babe’ to the brightly smiling ‘Sunny Day,’ while on the epic ‘Hungry Horse Montana,’ Oosten switches seamlessly from Celtic picking to Middle Eastern chord progressions. Oosten proves himself a stellar guitarist along the lines of John Fahey or Leo Kottke, only in a more eccentric and percussive mode. This new re-release has bonus tracks: three previously unreleased songs from 1973, to be exact. All told, the work of a true renegade, ripe for rediscovery. Oosten’s own version of his terrific album, exclusively. CD $6 SKU:13363

And, The Coasters, formed in 1955, and known for their serio-comic recordings.
