Thanks for making HANDSOME JACK a success, much appreciated!

"Handsome Jack sounds like the band that just moved in next door from 1971. The retro-minded trio returns with "City Girls", a countrified bit of rock 'n' roll that could have crawled from FM radio in its dawning moments, slithered right out of your speakers and into your record collection. With zero pretention and 100 percent dedication Handsome Jack has built a loyal following with its no frills live shows and songs that speak to the heart of everyone ... The track is culled from the album Everything's Gonna Be Alright, which will be available in limited edition starburst vinyl and can be ordered here." - Pop Matters *READ & WATCH HERE*

MORE FEATURED FROM ALIVE

BUFFALO KILLERS - ST FIRST LP LTD ed of 150 FLAMING PINK TRANSLUCENT VINYL W INNER SLV - Great midwest stoner psych - Label:ALIVE The Cincinnati, Ohio trio the Buffalo Killers are a whole lot of psychedelic stoner rock and mid-west country blues with cues that liken to the Allman Brothers, Spencer Dickinson, and the North Mississippi All-Stars. Lots of traditional inferences can be correlated in their music, from Neil Young ‘s days in Crazy Horse, along with the country blues stylings of The Greenhornes and the contemporary vibes of the Trainwreck Riders and Two Gallants . Their self-titled album imbues honky-tonk tunes with the vocal accelerants reminiscent of Ozzy Osbourne ‘s days in Black Sabbath , especially in "Heavens You Are." Band members Joseph Sebaali on drums and brothers Zachary Gabbard on bass and Andrew on guitar, strike a common ground between The White Stripes bluesy hydras and the honky-tonk rock of Lynyrd Skynyrd . The chill-out psychedelics are splattered all over the tunes, giving them a laid back ride. Selections like "River Water" and "With Love" have a ’70s rock coloring similarly to early Peter Frampton. The heavier Southern rock clamps on "Down In The Blue" and "Children Of War" have a more contemporary rigging like Government Mule . These songs were designed to invite audiences to join in with the band. Then there is the drowsy feel of the vocals and chord levels on "Fit To Breathe" which induce a drug-state, stoner rock emission in the music, making it inclusive to the band. The Buffalo Killers show influences of ’70s psychedelics, country, blues, stoner rock, and honky-tonk in their numbers. The music of the Allman Brothers and Spencer Dickinson have similar markings and grooves to these songs. Produced by John Curley , the Buffalo Killers’ debut album delivers country blues with an assortment that keeps the tempo laid back and the movements chilled. – Susan Frances / Hybrid Magazine LP $16 SKU:11989

MAMA - Eye in the Sky (pre-’76 power pop)Label:GOT KINDA LOST Led by the man of consider coiffure, Christopher DeArcangelis, Chicago-based miscreants MAMA find the lean line between the heavier end of ‘70s AOR and pre-’76 power pop with some added power borrowed from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (or NWOBHM), at times even sounding like the beginnings of the Glam/Hair Metal-era before latex, hairspray and considerable budgets blew the trend into oblivion. With a lineup that’s rotated regularly over the last few years, this sterling EP finds a supergroup that shined brightly but briefly in guitarist Daniel Rico (EGO, Dan Rico), bassist Joe Montanaro (aka Joey Rubs of The Rubs) and drummer Matt Dudzik (vocalist for Poison Boys).

BUSH- Got Bush if You Want it ( 1965-66 Calif. band Stones style ) - Label:UGLY THINGS In 1965-66, The Bush ruled the teen scene in California's Inland Empire with smash hits on the local charts and throngs of fans flocking to their gigs. Originally called the Bushmen, they were the first band in their area with the longhaired Rolling Stones look. After they opened for the Stones in 1965 they became local superstars almost overnight. Girls wanted to sleep with them while envious guys either wanted to beat them up or be them. LIGHT-Turn on the (1967 psych) Label:UGLY THINGS The LIGHT was a dynamic, multi-talented supergroup from California's Inland Empire. Formed early 1967, the group united the brightest talents from two of the area's most popular garage bands, the Bush and the Northside Moss. After attracting the attention of Music Machine producer Brian Ross they recorded a single for A&M Records, a Jekyll & Hyde pairing featuring a gorgeous Left-Banke-style A-side "Music Box" and a fuzz-guitar monster flipside, "Back Up." By the end of the summer they had evolved into an incendiary West Coast psychedelic rock ensemble comparable to the Buffalo Springfield or Moby Grape, but with the dual lead guitar firepower of the Beck-Page Yardbirds CD $8 SKU:6519

MUSTANGS - And That’s for Sure- Riverside 60s garage legends Label:UGLY THINGS Full-color 16-page booklet packed with rare photos of the band, plus full liner notes by Mike Stax ) Two minutes and five seconds of tough fuzz, stomp and bad attitude, the Mustangs' 1965 single "That's For Sure" is considered one of the Holy Grails of '60s garage rock. That one, hopelessly rare 45 would be their only release. However, in January 1966 the Mustangs went into Locy Sound in Riverside, California, where they recorded 14 more songs, demonstrating not only their dynamism and versatility as a live cover band, but also their remarkable talent for original material, from wailing rockers to haunting Beatlesque ballads. Those tracks are presented here for the first time, along with "That's For Sure" and its grooving instrumental flipside "Nova Blues." This CD only release includes a full-color 16-page booklet packed with rare photos of the band, plus full liner notes by Mike Stax. CD $8 SKU:4641

SMITH, CRAIG - Love is our Existence (1969 psych weirdness)Label:Maitreya Apache Music Craig Smith was an extraordinarily gifted songwriter and musician who seemed poised for a successful career in the 1960s music business until his life was derailed by drugs and schizophrenia. In 1969 clean-cut, charismatic Craig Smith became Maitreya Kali, a dark, disturbed psychedelic Messiah figure with a black widow spider tattooed on his third eye. He laid out his strange vision on a self-released double-album Apache/Inca (1972), which would become a sought-after artifact of the psychedelic era. Success came easily for Craig Smith. In 1963, right out of high school he became a cast member of the popular Andy Williams TV show as one of the Good Time Singers, a wholesome folk ensemble that recorded for Capitol Records. Next he landed one of the lead parts in a new TV show, The Happeners, about a Greenwich Village folk group. But when the TV pilot was not picked up, he set out on his own musical path with the folk-rock duo Chris & Craig and then the more psychedelic Penny Arkade, produced and managed by Mike Nesmith of the Monkees. Throughout this period Smith was constantly writing songs, some of which were recorded by other artists, including the Monkees ("Salesman"), Andy Williams ("Holly", "Christmas Holiday"), the Robbs ("Rapid Transit"), and Glen Campbell ("Country Girl"). But soon afterwards, his life took a dark, terrifying turn. Turning to LSD and Eastern mysticism he journeyed through Asia along the hippie trail where he was brutally attacked, raped, and left for dead. He was never the same again. As Maitreya Kali, he self-released the now legendary Apache and Inca albums in 1972 before disappearing into the shadows. He spent much of the 1970s in prison or in mental institutions before eventually drifting into homelessness on the streets of Hollywood. He died in his sleeping bag in North Hollywood Park in March 2012. Craig's older brother Gary contacted Stax with a trove of unreleased music. The best of those songs are presented on Love Is Our Existence. Professionally recorded in Los Angeles studios between 1966 and 1971, these previously unheard songs reveal a singer and songwriter of breathtaking depth and talent. Remastered from acetate discs and master tapes. CD $16 SKU:20359

SMITH, CRAIG - Love is our Existence (1969 psych weirdness)-Label:Maitreya Apache Music P version. Tip-on gatefold sleeve; Includes liner notes; Edition of 500. 6 FEET UNDER - In Retrospect (NEW JERSEY counterculture 70s psych)-Label:ARF ARF Very nice collection of counterculture psych from obscure New Jersey psychedelic band 6 Feet Under: “Like the Jefferson Airplane, Neighb’rhood Children and United States of America, Six Feet Under was blessed with a dynamic diva who soared amidst searing fuzz leads, swirling organ chords, and gifted songwriting with prophetic lyrics.” They released a couple of flop 1970 singles on Scepter before disbanding. Influenced by the Doors, Iron Butterfly and Jefferson Airplane, they favored gloomy minor melodies and naively earnest songs reflecting the state of social unrest and psychedelic exploration in the counterculture circa 1969-70. This reissue includes previously unreleased material that approximates what their debut album might have sounded like, along with some unissued home, live and rehearsal recordings. Prior to recording for Scepter, their drummer, Tico Torres, had been replaced on the grounds that he wasn't good enough; he became the only member of 6 Feet Under to make it in the music business, as part of Bon Jovi CD $12 SKU:19626

ABSTRACTS - Hey Let’s Go Now (60s Brit invasion style) - Label:BREAKAWAY They were one of the first bands to utilize a light show and besides their sole 45, their legacy contains a cache of unreleased period recordings, some of them made for Columbia Records in 1964. Finally, over four decades later, this album collects the band’s entire studio material alongside two excellent sounding 1966 live tracks. An in-depth insert with a wealth of never-before-seen-photos traces the history of the band that brought “Abstractmania” to the New York area in the sixties. It’s a pleasure for Break-A-Way Records to celebrate the return of The Abstracts and hear them shout again, “Hey, Let´s Go Now”… TRACKLISTINGS ON SITE CD $12 SKU:19669

ACID KING-MIDDLE OF NOWHERE, CENTER OF EVERYWHERE (STONER ROCK)-Label:SVART DIGIPACK RELEASE. ACID KING returns to its throne with the 2015 full-length 'Middle Of Nowhere, Center Of Everywhere'. On this their fourth outing, the three-piece maintains the corrosive concoction at the heart of their identity, while simultaneously progressing. This unholy triumvirate of visionary, vocalist, and guitarist Lori S, drummer Joey Osbourne, and bassist Mark Lamb existed before terms like "stoner rock" and "doom metal" entered the musical lexicon. CD $17 SKU:18909

ALLAN DAVIE AND THE ARROWS - Arrow Dynamic Sounds ( Surf/Fuzz ) -Label:TOTAL ENERGY Starting in the '60s as a surf group, Davie Allan & the Arrows took instrumentalmusic a step further, hot-wiring their sound with the abuse of fuzz pedal. "Talking about pop culture, baby? Allan was an architect, a natural fact rock & roll artist. Allan's ax rocks, stalks and talks with heat, assurance and (believe it or not) a maturity that transforms the oft-shallow rock-instro into epic-scale slabs of rock & roll expression. Dazzling." - L.A. Weekly CD $5 SKU:2233

ALPHA STONE-SPACEMEN 3 - Stereophonic Pop Music- LAST COPIES Label:BOMP Debut album of this band formed by former SPACEMEN 3 's bassist and DARKSIDE vocalist/bassist Pete Bain. His music, while still trippy as hell, now incorporates more sampled sounds, dance beats and the like. But make no mistake: it also rocks. This 10" is a collector's edition with stunning artwork. CD $15 SKU:1919

ALVARO LOPEZ y Sus Grandes Del Twist- DINAMO TWIST - 1962 2 ONLY -MINI LP SLV Label:VAM Dinamo Twist is an incessantly grooving and energetic album from drummer Álvaro López y Sus Grandes Del Twist from 1962. It's also loads of fun! From the back cover of the original record we learn that Álvaro was something of a musical prodigy, starting on the drums at a very early age and playing in jazz combos by the time he was 17. Not sure how old he is on this album, but he looks about 12 in the photo on the back! The album's notes also tell us that when he heard the twist he loved it so much that he decided to make his own group play in that style. Much of the set is instrumental with a handful of vocal numbers as well. It's all very upbeat, direct dance music -- the twist with a Latino touch -- with the driving drums of Álvaro up front in the mix and supported melodically by punchy horns. This is such seriously groovy stuff, it's a shame there aren't more recordings from this group! Includes a fantastic cover of Henry Mancini's "Peter Gun" plus "Dynamo," "El Gallo," "Ya me voy," "Lo mejor," "Siboney," which sounds remarkably like "One Step Beyond" by Prince Buster/Madness, "La Adelita," "Otro tequila," "Muchachos grandes," and more. CD $10 SKU:19389

II DIOS SO (stoner space rock)-Label:FORBIDDEN PLACE A major player in the current South American stoner rock movement, Arteaga combine stoner rock, noise, and space rock into one cohesive sound. BATORS, STIV- L.A L.A- Label:BOMP Records BACK IN after being OUT OF PRINT SINCE 2003! As the frontman for the Dead Boys, Stiv Bators terrorized audiences with his snotty, in-your-face punk rock style. But after the Dead Boys, Bators embarked on a musical journey that saw him touch upon new wave (the Wanderers), goth rock (the Lords of the New Church), and power pop (during a brief solo career), as well as a fling with movie acting. Born Steve Bator on October 22, 1949, in Youngstown, OH, Bators took a liking to garage rock and proto-punk early on -- a story he liked to tell is that it was he who handed Iggy Pop the jar of peanut butter that he smeared across his chest and threw around while walking on the audience during the Stooges' televised infamous 1970 rock festival in Ohio (additionally, Bators befriended the Ramones during the quartet's first Ohio performance). AMG CD $10 SKU:8908

BAZAR -Drabantbyrock TWO ONLY! (Kick-ass 70s psych/prog hard-rock)Label:SOMMER Kick-ass psychedelic/progressive hard-rock from Norway! Bazar was one of the most hard-working progressive bands from Scandinavia. This is their killer second album from 1974. Wah-wah fuelled guitar action, organ, flute, melodic vocals and radical lyrics. “Drabantbyrock” combines heavy numbers, West Coast guitar jams and dreamy moments, featuring the superb guitar playing of Bent Patey. Highly recommended for those into Swedish hard-rock bands such as November. 24-Bit Remastering. Insert with liner notes by Klemen Breznikar (It’s Psychedelic Baby) and photos. Original artwork in gatefold sleeve. CD $14 SKU:19693

FANTASYY FACTORY - Ode to Life ((Hendrix style psych) LAST ONE! Label:OHRWASCHL Hendrix-style guitar combined with the best of the psychedelic Krautrock tradition; "Ode To Life" was the debut release (1996) by guitarist/singer/songwriter Alan Tepper, originally released on vinyl by Acme; produced by Gary Ramon of Sundial. "If I Like It" was first released in 1998 as a limited edition vinyl edition; the CD re-release came out in 2011. "Paintings From Inner Space" was recorded in 2004 and saw release in 2005; it confusingly has the same catalogue as the previous album... just for fun. CD $14 SKU:20162

FENMEN- Sunstroke(60s garage Pretty Things style with new tracks)Label:UGLY THINGS THINGS A treasure trove of rare and unreleased Fenmen tracks, including 1965 demo recordings, a 1966 BBC radio session, a raw early 1963 acetate, and seven new tracks by Waller and Povey in the harmony-rich tradition of the Fenmen and the 1967-71 Pretty Things CD $7 SKU:11139

MICHAEL ANTON AND AMOK- Jesus Makes You High (STRANGE 70s GERMAN GARAGE PSYCH)Label:GERMANOFON A very strange project for Achim Reichel and legendary Krautrock producer Conny Plank and the Gorilla Musik production company (owned by Achim Reichel, coincidentally): a professionally produced German hard rock record with heavy Jesus lyrics... although it's more for the sound collage elements here that this album has attracted some notice. The title track from this album has attracted attention from appearances on “Prae Kraut Pandemonium” and “Obscured by Krauts” garage/psych compilations. First-ever reissue includes full lyrics and two bonus tracks from their only 7" release. CD $8 SKU:19037

MIDNIGHT WOOLF-TROPICAL DISEASE (Cramps inspired garage )Label:OFF THE HIP Swamp, blues, surf and garage all go into MIDNIGHT WOOLF’s heady brew. "Tropical Disease" is their fourth, and best, album. Think Cramps, Gun Club, Johnny Cash, or Australia’s own Exotics. CD $6 SKU:19223

MIGUEL Y EL COMITÉ- Para Hacer Música, Para Hacer (70s acid Fuzz guitar) Label:LION cover of a Shakers song. El Syndikato made Miguel Livichich a rock star in South America; but it was his sole effort as “Miguel y el Comité” that made him a groove-loving crate-digger’s dream!. Percussion plays a key role in the band’s sound, although the guitar playing is most distinctive: sometimes melodic, at other times carving a path through the mix, with a hard and acid distorted fuzz guitar sound, as on the title track and the fabulous cover of El Kinto's ‘Qué me importa. CD $10 SKU:13532

MILKWOOD TAPESTRY - ST (60s acid guitar)Label:GEAR FAB Their classic self-titled 1969 LP is a journey into sea ring acid-guitar with touches of soft folky ballads, lots of heavy rock, and some mind-bending manic music that ranges in style from The Incredible String Band to Arthur Lee's Love to Jethro Tull To Fairport Convention to Sgt. Peppers. Fantastic harmonies round out this great album." CD $10 SKU:18871

MILLENIUM - Pieces- Essential listening for sunshine pop and psych-pop fans!- Label:VOICEPRINT (England) By 1969, the Millennium, Curt Boettcher (who was also an independently contracted producer for Columbia Records), executive producer Gary Usher of the band’s “Begin” album, and a slew of Usher-produced acts like Gene Clark, the Peanut Butter Conspiracy and Chad & Jeremy, were all let go by the label. Combined with the internal conflicts the Millennium were experiencing, and multiplied by the inherent pressures of their rock-n-roll lifestyles, the loss of their recording contract was a fatal blow for the group. The Millennium disbanded in 1969, leaving behind a classic one-shot "desert island" LP. Yet the Millennium's breakup did not eliminate all interest in the group. Somewhere along the line, enough "people in the know" purchased or were handed copies of their album, and soon a small but devoted cult began to form around the record. For whatever reason, a good amount of unrealized Millennium material languished in the vaults. It is an incredible revelation to finally hear these missing puzzle pieces which reveal a band of enormous depth and songwriting talent. After listening to these unreleased demos, the divine results of the cosmically profound collaborative effort known as the Millennium become even more apparent. Unlike most of the concurrent L.A. super-groups (e.g. Rhinoceros), the members of the Millennium actually gelled musically. The various band members engaged in a variety of writing partnerships that resulted in some of the most beautiful (if under-appreciated) music of their era. Essential listening for sunshine pop and psych-pop fans! CD $10 SKU:12228

MOCK DUCK - TEST Record (60s fuzzed out rarity)Label:GEAR FAB Well, we don't know what else to call this project because there were only 14 acetates made of their live recordings at The Village Bistro in Vancover, B.C. in October 1968. Butnever fear, for we have unearthed the master Tapes form those sessions plus a lot more unreleased live and Studio recordings from this same period, including the 12 minute long studio session of June, 1968. Rising from the ashes of such famous Vancouver bands as The United Empire Loyalists, Cement City Cowboys and Six Cylinder, this band played a style of music that crossed between a fuzzed out John Coltrane sound to one of hard driving rock with Farfisa organ and blazing guitars and hard-edged vocals. Includes all their 45s releases plus other unreleased studio tracks. Don't pay $2,000 for an original copy of the acetate….just buy this release!!! CD $10 SKU:19301

MOD VIGIL - ST (GARAGE)Label:OFF THE HIP Mod Vigil are a new Melbourne band. Yes theres lots of them here. This one evolved of a love of all things McLusky, Jehu, X, Hüsker Dü, Lubricated Goat and inspired by a host of In The Red bands recorded to overdriven bedroom tape. Spewed into the gigguide like tiny eggs from a queen spider's sack and pumping out songs like short bursts of energy that link together like a daisy chain of angst. The album is as energetic as it is loud, fast and typically self-destructive. CD $10 SKU:7826
